Review - Elizabeth Grant Age Defense Day Serum

I don't think I've actually heard of Elizabeth Grant, or at least I don't recall an actual conversation. The only recollections are seeing the logo around somewhere. I thought I saw it at Sephora a while ago, but Sephora doesn't carry their products. Nevertheless, for a company that has been around since 1958, my expectations were high. To stay around for that long, you must be doing something right. When I went to ChickAdvisor's ShopCrawl I received a swag bag filled with a wide range of products that in total were worth $300. One of the products in there was Elizabetg Grant's Biocollasis Complex Advanced Cellular Age Defense day serum. I tested it out for a bit since people say that anti-aging should start young and I am in my early 20's. I think I'm as ready as I'll ever be to review it, so let's get started.

Pros:

It's a completely clear serum and doesn't have any sparkles or anything. I've tried other serums and they had a tint of another colour or had sparkles in it and it looks really unnatural. There's a swatch below.

The smell is pretty light and smells kind of sweet, but it has a hint of this chemical smell too, which isn't too noticeable.

I like how the product comes with a pump, which is pretty easy to push down. The amount is consistent, which helps when you're in a rush to put it on.

Cons:

It is pretty expensive. The product holds 30mL, though the packaging makes it look like there's way more in there. It is sold on online websites and the Shopping Channel for $65 (if you're interested, click here).

It dispenses way too much product. Perhaps I have a small face or something, but I have more than enough for my whole face and neck. I end up wiping some off and washing my hands.

The product is pretty thick, which is good in a way, but I can feel it on my face all day long, which I don't like. It also feels like my face can't breathe.

When it dries, I noticed that my face is still shiny. I thought it was just me, but apparently few people commented on seeing the product on my face randomly. It just made me feel even more self conscious about using this product. In the picture below, you can see the product dried on my hand and the shine it gives off.

It has a sticky finish, which I really didn't like.  It just like of felt like watered down glue sort of stickiness. Not a texture for a product I want to be using on my body, unless it's clothing tape.

This is the worst thing about this product. The first time I used it, I had one pimple pop out, which I thought was just a random one that was coming out. The second day, I used it, another pimple popped out. The third day was the last time, because my face exploded with pimples. Now it's time for me to repair my skin and the damage that this product did to it.

Overall: 2/10. I didn't use this product long enough to determine the actual age defense effects but it definitely ruined my skin. If this age defense serum is to help my skin avoid aging, then I suppose having acne prone skin like a preteen hitting puberty is the way to go. The texture was sticky and heavy, the pump dispenses too much product for myself, and it is noticeable on my face and gives off this shiny look. Even though it smells alright and it is clear, that doesn't hold a lot of weight for the product. The packaging is beautiful and when you use it, you feel like you're using something really special, but it's so misleading. This product was a complete disappointment. Maybe it'll work for you, but it definitely didn't work for me.
