I think this is just a trend everywhere but I've been very frustrated this week by how much admin work is being outsourced to me as the patient/customer.

My orthodontist tells me I can make an appointment with the surgeon. I call the surgeon. They tell me I need a new referral. I call the orthodontist. They do a referral. I call the surgeon. Referral didn't come through. They tell me about their special unique system we have to use. I call the ortho again and walk them through the referral. I call the surgeon. They say the referral was missing some details so they have to do it again. I call the ortho.

The insurance company calls me about repair shops. I give them the name of the repair shop which I already gave them yesterday. They say they're not in their system but I can use them, but I have to call the repair shop to ask them to contact the insurance company. I call the repair shop and they say the insurance company is supposed to email them.

I feel like at a certain point these constant fetch quests become unreasonable?? Is it too much to expect these groups to communicate with each other instead of making me run back and forth between them???

Like, why would I do that, not in the kitchen?

Any little snippets/details/insights for Days of You and Me? I know you're turning it into a physical book (and I can't wait!)

What about Finds A Way? I know it's one of your older works but I think about it a lot.

THIS IS A NO PRESSURE POST!

Oh man. Nothing really new to share about Days since getting it into the next phase is really just... combing through and taking stuff out. My plans for it though are that, obviously, it's going to be in ~modern times~ (you know what I mean) and in this economy, no single parent is owning their house. So Hunter lives with his brother Connor in a house they rent with Hunter's daughter Haley. Which allows for Connor to be more ~in the picture~ if that makes sense. The setting is also moving to Nashville, Tennessee, and the coffee that Hunter brings Alison will be from a local Nashville chain called Bongo Java. I really want to bring up more of Alison's therapy sessions but we'll get to the additions once we finish the culling and the changes.

Alison will also be struggling heavily with burn out and that will be a large focus of it. Like she pauses because she actually really likes Hunter and he's not pressuring her to feel that, he's letting her take her time and make that decision for herself and, in doing so, she's actively making time FOR him instead of trying to get away from him because she doesn't feel cornered like a wild animal, she doesn't feel pressured by him. So then her days aren't filled with non stop go go go go go for work, this is a perfect who likes to be near her and doesn't make fun of her or make her feel bad and who encourages her to rest and the last ten or twelve years of her life since she moved to Tennessee hits her like a truck and she's like, 'OH... I cannot do this.' Like she's a lot more explicitly autistic. Haley is also autistic and it's kind of through meeting and growing a relationship with this man and his child that she starts to understand that, like... oh, she's got some things going on, too. (That's also why she hates talk therapy and thinks it's bullshit because autistics do not react well to CBT since we've already pathologized ourselves to fucking hell and back).

I'm also changing their ages. So Hunter is 31 and Haley is 11 going on 12 or 12 going on 13... I haven't decided. But Alison is 29 going on 30. So they are the same age but there wouldn't have really been chances for them to meet because Hunter didn't go out, he had a baby and he wasn't going to school either.

I actually just unpublished Finds A Way from Amazon Vella and had an idea about it last night actually. There are many scribblings happening in a notebook right now but Sam and her story are not done yet, I just unfortunately got sick and could not give her the attention she deserved.
