Congratulations to Tara Dower for becoming the fastest person in history to complete the Appalachian Trail! The 31-year-old from Virginia completed the 2,168 mile (3,489 km) backcountry trail in 40 days, 18 hours, and five minutes, a distance usually covered by an A.T. thru-hiker in five to seven months.

To set the record, Dower ran and hiked an average of 54 miles each day on the often rocky and steep trail, which includes a total vertical gain of 465,000 feet as it runs through fourteen states. She started her daily runs at 3:30 am and continued for approximately 17 hours with several short breaks for meals and 90-second "dirt naps."

Dower used her record-setting run to raise money for Girls on the Run, saying that she hopes her feat will inspire girls and women. “I hope more women get out there,” she said. “It’s about finding our true potential. And, you know, if you beat the men, that’s an extra bonus.” When she reached the trail's end on Saturday night, the exhausted but jubilant Dower fell to her knees and put her hands on the bronze plaque that reads, “A footpath for those who seek fellowship with the wilderness.”

Hey Lovelies! I hope you're hanging in there. We're getting to the end of the week, and it's a long weekend for a lot of folks in the U.S.! Hopefully you've got some downtime planned (no matter where you are), you deserve a break.

Tonight I wanted to send a reminder to try and give yourself some self care this weekend. I've been very bad about it this week and my body is finally telling me so, so here's some gentle reminders for you!

Remember to take your meds today!

Drink plenty of water! Yes I know tea is delicious but it can dehydrate you, so remember to drink some water too when you get a chance :)

Take a shower or a bath, you'll feel way better afterward!

Eat something yummy, and something healthy too! Give your body something it wants, it'll tell you what it is.

Make sure you get plenty of sleep, if you have an extra day off-- take advantage of that! Sleep can do wonders for your mental and physical health.

Try to laugh if you can-- watch something funny, read something funny, look up a terrible dad joke on the internet-- ask a friend for a laugh. Laughter can do so much for us and helping to release some of our fight or flight stressors.

You're doing great lovelies. I know it's been a lot lately, but you're really doing great. You've been working so hard, and you're making incremental progress towards your goals. I'm really proud of you. Remember to be proud of yourself too <3 You are such an amazing person, and you deserve to rest too.

List of my Bookish Save File settings

1 sim year = 112 sim days, each season 28 days

game clock slowed to half speed (using MCCC)

Baby = 28 sim days (roughly 3 months of human life)

Infant = 196 sim days (age 3 months thru end of age 1)

Toddler = 336 sim days (age 2 thru end of age 4)

Child = 896 sim days (age 5 thru end of age 12)

Teen = 672 sim days (age 13 thru end of age 18)

YA = 1344 sim days (age 19 thru end of age 30)

Adult = 1344 sim days (age 31 thru end of age 42)

Elder = 3360 sim days (age 43 thru 70 or more depending on the lifespan the game gives them)

NOTE - I do not consider elder age to start at 43 in my real life. I make it so for the sim settings just so that sims stop getting pregnant once they leave the adult age range. But I use cc to make them not so elderly-looking when they are in their late 40s and 50s.

Pregnancy span = 84 sim days (which is 3 seasons of the sim year, 9 months)

I used to have all pet age spans corresponding correctly too, but currently pet age spans is not working for me correctly with MCCC after update so all the pets died.

#Uncool50 Index page

Having made a post indexing my #FearOfMu21c posts, i thought that I might as well index all the #Uncool50 posts too, in case anyone wanted to have a look thru those. This was a challenge posted last year on twitter where those taking part had to pick their 50 favourite singles since the punk era. As well as doing this, I took it upon myself to write a post about each of them, which i eventually stockpiled here (for want of anything else to do with them). VOID JOURNEY

Hi! I going to be documenting my journey with the void. I have knew about manifesting for a year or so. I knew about the void thru reality shifting, I never knew you could manifest their until 1 or 2 months ago and I found out abt it thru tumblr. I am new tumblr so I barely know how to work this app so bare with me.. I will be updating everyday [starting tmr] for the rest of the day I will just affrim!!<3

Day 1: I did a meditation and after that I was listening to brown noises. I was counting to 150 and somewhere in the 100s I fell asleep 😭

Day 2: I didn't get in. I tried 3 times out the day but it was just so loud and I couldn't concentrate on anything💀. We will try again tho bc I know every "fail attempt " I have, I'm just getting closer to the void

Best Bike Crash Ever

Summary: After a hit and run at a crowded intersection, you are suddenly very intrigued by your rescuer–the cute FBI Agent who just happened to be a bystander.

A/N: I can’t do angst today. As a little break from my series, I finished this fluffy little one-shot up to post on a Monday. Everyone needs fluff on a Monday.

You bring your bike to a halt at one of the busiest intersections in the city. It's congested on any day, but on Memorial Day Weekend in Washington, D.C., the thing is damn near impassable.

Your gaze flits around the cars with disinterest as you wait for the signal to cross. The car closest to you is one of those black, unmarked cars with the distinctive look of a government vehicle that are ubiquitous in this area of the city.

You like to make up stories about the people inside them sometimes as you're walking. This one, you decide, is a crooked CIA agent who's secretly an assassin on the side. Right now, he's on his way to the National Gallery of Art, where he'll sit on a bench and pretend to study a painting, but instead he's waiting for someone to drop off the envelope with his next assignment.

You smile to yourself as the light turns green and you jump back on the pedals to turn onto Pennsylvania Avenue.

You don't see the car attempting to run the red light until it's too late.

At first all that registers is pain. Then, you realize that there is someone beside you, speaking to you in a steady, low voice.

"Breathe," the voice says. "You're hyperventilating. I need you to take slow, deep breaths with me."

You focus on the person's face–a man, wearing a suit, with warm, kind eyes. He asks you your name, and you tell him in a strained voice that you hardly recognize.

The man repeats your name back to you with a soft smile and you feel your breathing start to slow a little.

“My name is Marcus,” the man says in that same calm tone. “I’m an agent with the FBI. I’m gonna help you, okay?”

“Okay,” you gasp. God, everything hurts. Your whole body feels as if it’s on fire, but especially the side that you had landed on. Why did it feel like you couldn’t move your arm?

"Did you hit your head?" he asks.

You shake your head. "Don’t think so… landed on my arm." And then you look down at it for the first time.

It's… well, it's definitely broken. Arms aren't supposed to bend that direction. The pain your brain registers doubles, triples, and your breath starts to come in sharp gasps again.

Marcus snaps his fingers rapidly in front of your face. “No, don’t look at your arm, look at me. Keep your eyes on me.”

He speaks with a quiet authority that makes you automatically obey, tearing your eyes away from the injury and looking up at him.

"There you go. Keep taking deep breaths–that's it, you're doing so well."

You can't help but hold his gaze. He's so… disarming. He's making a show of breathing in and out slowly, intending for you to follow his lead, and you do–concentrating on the rise and fall of his chest.

“This can go two ways,” Marcus says, when you're no longer panicking. “I can call you an ambulance and wait with you, or we can go to the hospital right now in my car.”

Ambulances are expensive, you think. Out loud, you say, “C-car?”

“Good choice," Marcus says with a smile. "Now, we need to splint your arm before we move you. It'll help keep your arm immobile. I'm going to go get some stuff for a makeshift splint from the car and I'll be right back."

You finally notice the black car parked beside you. There aren't any lights on top, but you can see blue and red flashing from behind the dark windows. You realize that it’s probably the car that had been beside you before you had tried to turn.

You watch as Marcus opens the trunk and comes back to your side with an umbrella and a faded FBI t-shirt. He immediately starts ripping the shirt into strips and you must gasp because he looks over at you with a wry grin.

Those words are always laced with meaning, but with your new relationship, they seem even more significant.

It was no secret that your new boyfriend, Marcus Pike, has had a rough go of things before you started dating. It has been two months–two incredible, happy months–since your first date, and the two of you have developed a beautiful connection over dinners, walks, movies, lunch dates, even baseball games, without ever having seen each others’ bedrooms.

You know that you’re falling for him. How can you not? Marcus is considerate and kind, with a secret goofy side that you know he usually tries to hide. Marcus, who is obviously unaware of your inner struggle as he flicks his tongue over your clit and gently thrusts one finger into your soaking cunt, says “Gonna come for me, honey?”

Summary: You and Marcus are both trying to re-enter the dating scene after bad relationships, and you’ve been set up on a blind date. You really hit it off, but after a few dates, it seems like Marcus is being really distant. Before you can ask him about it, you run into someone from Marcus’s past…

A/N: This is from a prompt from @imtryingmybeskar for my 400 follower celebration! My dear, I hope you like it! It's certainly long-winded. They asked:

Could I have a Marcus story where he is with reader, perhaps they're on their first few dates. He hasn't told her about his past yet because he's trying to play it cool but then somehow Theresa and Patrick are at the same bar/restaurant as you and...well I don't know. Does it turn into an awkward double date from hell? Does it make reader realise how much she likes him? Does it all go horribly wrong? Or something else?

“I’m not interested.”

“Oh, come on, Pike, you’ve gotta get back out there sometime,” says Agent Miller around a large bite of salad.

“I don’t think going on a blind date is a good way to re-enter the dating scene,” Marcus argues, poking at his own lunch. “I need to build my confidence back, not get it torn down,” he adds with a self-deprecating laugh.

“How else would you go about it?”

Marcus raises one eyebrow. “Well, I like to start with talking to the person first, finding common interests, letting it develop organically, that kind of thing,” he grumbles sarcastically.

“That’s not exactly how dating works in the age of Tinder,” replies the other Agent.

“I don’t care how Tinder works,” Marcus says emphatically. “I’m a traditional kind of guy, and I don’t plan on changing that.”

“Oh, that’s a good strategy,” responds Miller. “Who knows, maybe this time it’ll work out for you.”

Marcus glares at him. “Are you going to keep insulting me for the entire lunch hour, or are you going to take a break to eat?”

“Just listen to me on this one. She works at the Smithsonian, she’s an Archaeologist or something. You have a lot in common–she just got out of a relationship and is trying to get back out there, same as you. All you have to do is have dinner the once, and if it doesn’t work, you just walk away. Simple as that.” Agent Miller takes another huge bite of lettuce, and Marcus looks down at his own plate in thought.

“If you’re wrong about this, you’re not allowed to try and give me dating advice ever again,” Marcus declares.

“That’sh th’spirit!” Miller answers, before swallowing. “You’ll like her. Trust me.”

Marcus isn’t sure if he’s disappointed that the coworker he considers to be more of a ‘frenemy’ than a friend turns out to be correct in his judgment, or just happy that, yes, the woman he had been set up with is beautiful, smart, talented, funny, and all-around perfect for him.

She appears just as nervous as Marcus feels when she walks up to him at the bar in the restaurant she had chosen for them to meet. The booth where they end up being seated is too cozy, the already-flickering candle on the table casting a romantic glow that seems wildly inappropriate for the occasion, and Marcus spends far too long debating whether or not to blow it out as he pretends to peruse the menu. It's too much. Is he being too much already?

Marcus eventually decides that extinguishing the flame would be more conspicuous than leaving it be, when the waiter comes back for their orders. He chooses an entrée at random–having been too preoccupied with the candle dilemma to actually read the words on the page–and when he finally really looks at her for the first time, he realizes he can see all of his anxieties reflected back at him in her eyes. He feels himself start to relax, just a little.

She tells him she works for the National Museum of the American Indian, then immediately launches into a little mini-rant about her area of study–pre-contact Mississippian civilization in the Midwest–which Marcus finds both relatable and endearing. She tries to apologize for veering into a debate about ancient pottery firing methods, but Marcus only smiles kindly and asks her more targeted questions about her research.

She stares at him, stunned, and tells him that no one else has ever listened without their eyes glazing over, let alone asked her to elaborate.

That's when Marcus decides he is absolutely going to kiss her goodnight.

And he does–eventually, after a walk through the National Mall (where she excitedly tells him all the details of her “favorite” mound at Cahokia, the archaeological site she goes to every summer to excavate during field season). Her energy is addicting, and there are so many little ways their disciplines overlap–mainly when it comes to the looting and illegal selling of antiquities, which they talk about at length.

When she launches into a tirade about Hobby Lobby, Marcus can't help but laugh and thread his fingers through hers as they continue their walk.

When the two of them arrive at her modest little townhome, she bites her lip shyly and asks, in the smallest voice Marcus has heard from her all night, if he’d maybe like to do this again sometime.

Marcus finally allows himself to step in close and he brings his hand up to gently caress her cheek as he assures her that yes, he would like to see her again, and soon.

And then, giving her plenty of time to anticipate the move, he slowly closes the distance between them, bringing his lips to hers in an achingly tender kiss.

WIP Update - 7 Feb 2023

Finally back on track after vacation with a very productive week! I touched 8 fics ( 2 WIPs & 6 new works) for a total of 3567 words! I also have over FOUR HUNDRED works posted on Ao3 as of this past Friday! 🎉 🎊🎉

On Ao3, I posted: Save Us All From the State We’re In - Bucky & Sam bonding through adversity. Come Again Some Other Day - introspective Bucky thinking about getting caught out in the rain. A Visitor to the Library - Tony and Stephen established relationship fluff.

On Tumblr I posted: Make My Heart Come All Undone (Continuation) - No Powers AU surfer!Tony (with a secret) and amputee!Bucky. A Secret Garden - Bucky discovers a life-threatening secret Tony is trying to hide (spoiler: it’s hanahaki) Flying the Flag of Freedom - No Powers/Pirate/Historic AU: Steve and Bucky are pirates who target slave ships. Recollection of Anticipation - Steve & Bucky introspection mid-CA:TFA.

I have 12 active WIPs with my current deadline being the Stuckony Valentine Cards event (due 10 Feb), along with the February Ficlet Challenge, Bucky Barnes Flash Bingo 2023 and the Tony Stark Bingo (all ending 28 Feb)

Stuckony Valentine Cards Event [Ends 10 Feb]

I skimmed thru them before vacation, but now need to take another look & hopefully find something that I vibe with and can write by noon Friday!

Bucky Barnes Flash Bingo 2023 [BBB_F23] (Ends 28 Feb)

The Bucky Barnes Bingo team (@buckybarnesbingo) is running a flash bingo this month - pick one of 5 premade cards (each with prompts starting from the same letter of his name) and create some new content to share!

I picked the U card and here’s what I have so far:

* Unlucky - Come Again Some Other Day - posted last Friday. It’s an introspective piece with Bucky reflecting on how much he hates being rained on.

* Undone - Filling this with a continuation of Make My Heart Come All Undone - No Powers AU featuring surfer!Tony (with a secret) and amputee!Bucky. I got a good start on this thanks to the FFF23 Day 1 prompt: Wave. Chapter 2 (Tony POV) is sitting at 584 words at the moment.

* Underdog - hoping to combine this with my All Caps Bingo Isaiah Bradley square - Bucky’s recollection of their fight.

Tony Stark Bingo - Round 6 (TSB_R6) [Ends 28 Feb]

Twenty fills with only one bingo so far and four WIPs at the moment - with Vague Ideas for almost every other square. I am gunning for a blackout, tho will probably have to pull my Adopted squares in to make that happen.

S5 - James “Rhodey” Rhodes -- probably crossing over with my AvB Vulnerability square - I have a vague plot idea & title: Tensegrity that I think I can pull together in time.

* T3 - Pepper Potts/Rescue - some sort of remix of/inspired by sabrecmc’s Indecent Proposal from Pepper’s POV. At this point, I think I need to re-read the fic & take notes … may need to scrap this idea & try something else.

* T4 - KINK: Concubine - was going to combine this with SRB E4 - Mental Bondage but still may write up the idea I had - potential titled My Voice the Chain that Binds You.

* A1 - AU: Regency - finally cracked this with an outsider POV (Phil Coulson) of the events of To Tame a Werewolf. The Steward of Brookside Manor is up to 185 words so far.

*A5 - Scott Lang - 27dragons shared an interesting plot bunny during the Sept TSB Discord party that I may end up using; that or a follow up to A Piece of the Action

* K2 - Secret Admirer - carried this over from last round so I could try my hand a remix of Seeds of Love (WinterIron hanahaki fic by the super-talented @hddnone). Got inspired by last week’s Flash Fiction Friday [#FFF188 Where Secrets Lie] and wrote up A Secret Garden as the hopeful beginning of a longer piece. It’s sitting at 289 words at the moment and will crossover with my AvB Unrequited Love square.

* K5 - Protectiveness – using this for the third (and probable final) chapter of my Stony Western AU WIP Come Down From Your Fences (And Open the Gate) The first draft is coming in at 907 words and I’m targeting posting on Friday.

February Ficlet Challenge [FFC23] (Ends 28 Feb 2023)

I’m participating in the @februaryficletchallenge, where two prompts get posted each day. You’re supposed to write a 200+ word ficlet within 24 hours and share it to the collection - I’m ending up using these as prompts for longer works to fill bingo squares, but am posting each ficlet to Tumblr as I complete it. Here’s what I have done so far:

Day 1: Wave - see BBB_F23 Undone above.

Day 2: Caught in the Rain - see BBB_F23 Unlucky above.

Day 3: “What’s up, Doc?” - I combined this with my AvB Kissed to Keep Quiet square for A Visitor to the Library -- a bit of Tony/Stephen (IronStrange) fluff. It will get posted to Ao3 eventually.

Day 6: Pirate AU: Combining this with my All Caps Bingo AU: Fugitive square. Posted Flying the Flag of Freedom to Tumblr and plan to expand on it for the bingo. Steve and Bucky are pirates who target slave ships in order to free their cargo; but what happens when they come upon a ship of slaves who have freed themselves?

Day 7: Carnival/Amusement Park: Combined this with my All Caps Bingo “This is payback, isn’t it?“ square for Recollection of Anticipation - where Bucky’s comment about the Coney Island Cyclone sparks memories for Steve.

Stucky Bingo Round Four [SB_R4] (Ends 31 May 2023)

Eleven fills and one WIPs with a couple of other vague ideas.

* B1 - Mutual Pining - no specific idea, but it’s so On Brand for me I’m sure I’ll come up with something! (maybe the Centerfold fic idea I’ve been toying with)

* O4 - AU: Supernatural - got inspired by a dream to start a Stucky fantasy AU (magician!Steve/ensorcelled!Bucky) that @bill-longbow is collaborating on with me. We’re currently sitting at 1640 words (984-ish of which are mine). Will probably continue on this sometime in February. Current Last Line: "My men will accompany you back to Brookline in the morning.”

I also adopted the Writing Format: Remix one of your fics square – am thinking of taking one of my Stony or WinterIron No Powers fics and adapting it to a Stucky pairing – if you have any requests - hit me up!

Avengers Bingo Round Four [AvB_R4] (Ends 2 June)

This time around the card is a 3x3, so am looking at writing different pairings for my two favorite Avengers - Tony and Steve. I have 1 fill completed and one WIP, with a couple more ideas in play.

* A3 - Kissed to Keep Quiet - see FFF23 “ What’s up, Doc?” prompt above.

* B1 - Unrequited Love - see TSB Secret Admirer square above.

* C3 - Dog Tags - seems like a good Steve/Bucky (or Steve/Sam?) square.

All Caps Bingo [ACB_R1] (Ends 30 Sep 2023)

This new bingo focuses on Steve Rogers, Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson as its main characters - paired up with each other or anyone else! I’ve got 1 completed fic and two different ideas for the One Fill, One Bingo Challenge - see this Tumblr post for details.

* N1 - Rogers: The Musical - with the encouragement of the ACBB Discord folks, I returned to the well and wrote up Save Us All From the State We’re In 418 words of Bucky & Sam bonding through adversity.

* O3 - Pararescue Sam Wilson - may try to squish this into an expansion of A Rising Star - a previous Flash Fiction Friday fill.

On other creative fronts: I have a Captain America Stuffed With Character figure in progress - still working on the figures/props for my three Marvel Trumps Hate auction winners as well (7 of 8 done so far) – thanks so much for your generous support!! Finally, I am prepping for a superhero con in March and another con in June so am pretty well booked up through spring/early summer.
