Tankkilaukku
SW-Motech PRO Daypack tank bag Nyt sain uuden tankkilaukun ja se istuu todella hyvin tuohon Gezzin tankin päälle. Ja mikä parasta tuo pikalukko toimii todella hyvin. Laukkuun menee kätsästi juurikin ne kamat joita ajattelinkin, eli kamerakalusto. Aikaisemminhan kuskasin tuota samaista kalustoa surinpiirtein samanlaisessa laatikossa jonka tungin aina sivulaukkuun. Tässä tietty ongelmana että se…

I’m going camping soon, so I wanted to show you what’s in my daypack!
It’s important to be prepared, so here’s what I carry with me
Some spare clothes (including socks and gloves in a waterproof bag)
Some hand wipes
A coloring book with crayons
A book to read (I like spooky goosebumps books)
My field journal and a pen
A first aid kit!!
A kid friendly pocket knife (be careful, it’s sharp!)
A forest guidebook
A small bag with my toiletries
A rain poncho
A portable solar charged power bank
Some matches/something for starting a fire (with adult supervision!)
and some hearty snacks

CLOSE MATCH: Shauna wears a bag very similar to the VASCHY “Backpack for Men Women, Classic Water-resistant Lightweight Travel School Backpack Casual Daypack.”
All of the details seem to match up but Shauna’s bag doesn’t have the white logo (though it could’ve been removed by the costume/prop department).
The photo above is the patch on Shauna’s bag. I couldn’t find it online so I’m guessing it’s probably vintage or made for the show.

I would never have paid $70 for the Blake backpack but I have to admit, it's a great bag. Love the detachable daypack and the laptop compartment is perfect for my little Chromebook.

It’s been snowing most of the day and will continue all night. Normally I love a good snowstorm. But this stuff is wet and melts when it hits the blacktop. It’s a junior varsity blizzard. ★★☆☆☆
The snow made plane-watching decent at the airport dog park. I love when I can’t see a jet coming in at a distance, then suddenly one pops through the low clouds. Surprise! Another fun thing: when the planes get done at the de-icing truck, their wings are bright green.
Sulley is unhappy with me. Three times today I prevented him from bringing home something he found. First was a dead raccoon at the airport dog park. It weighed more than Sulley. It would have been amusing to watch him try to carry it back to the car. That was followed by a chunk of ice he picked up in the parking lot. It would have just melted inside the car. Finally, I took the dogs on a late afternoon walk in the neighborhood. Sulley and Oliver found an intact donut by the front door of the grocery store. That would have just ended up as barf on my living room floor, so they were deprived of a free donut. I know, I passed up on something free.
Tomorrow is the final day of REI’s 20% off one full-price item and 20% off an outlet item. I also have a hefty REI dividend waiting for me. Basically I can get one or two things from REI for practically nothing.
I hate to see a coupon go to waste. The only problem is, there’s nothing I truly need. I sort of want a daypack. I just don’t really have a use for one. It would sit in my closet, to be rarely used. I can’t justify it. There’s an REI duffel bag I like, but I have a perfectly good LL Bean duffel. It would be wasteful to get another one just for one little extra feature and a different color. Perhaps I should have a garage sale, get rid of many things, and have an excuse to buy new stuff.

Day 18 - 27 April Burgos to Hornillos del Camino 21.5km and 127m
We ate in the restaurant round the corner last night and met up with Carol again. The meal was ok but I am getting abit tired of the pilgrim fare. They serve alot of carbs which neither Carrie nor I are used to.
In our apartment we had washed a second lot of clothes and disappointingly the heating did not come on, none of my efforts with the controls worked. (Pete where are you?)! But somehow the clothes dried by the morning.
We had decided to transfer bags just to give our bodies another rest day. Its a short one (when is over 12 miles short - answer - on the Camino!) and we dropped the bags off at the hotel along with our key.
We feel lucky - its our first day of rain! We decided to have breakfast at the hotel. And it was the worst frittata so far. Dry and horrible. Good Carrie forced hers down but I was the naughty child and left most of mine.
This is our kitty purse - abit small but very pretty (thank you Meg!). Carrie does a marvellous job as holder of the purse!
We passed the beautiful Burgos University buildings on the way out of Burgos.
Just love some of the depictions of Pilgrims along the way. This was one of my favourites. We also encounter alot of art work on buildings, most of it stunning.
Love this photo of Carrie in her poncho. It tested her patience though. She couldn’t access her daypack and there was abit of a contortionist thing going on at one point. She has reached the momentous decision that she needs to wear her daypack over it!
Carrie’s favourite (and possibly mine) church so far. It was a very simple building but inside they were playing choral music. As each pilgrim went in the nun gave an individual blessing and a small St Christopher pendant. As she gave her blessing she was such a humble person and so warm - my eyes did well up. Carrie went up for hers having extracted her certificate from her daypack and came back dabbing her eyes. We sat for a little while. On the way out I could see everyone was similar. It was very moving.
The Meseta - we were so looking forward to it. Endless rolling fields of green, so beautiful. After the blessing experience we were very quiet walking through the Meseta. The landscape does have a tranquil spiritual quality about it.
We entered Hornillos del Camino at 1pm. A female pilgrim had turned up to a hostel to find it had closed down and her luggage she had transferred was missing. I advised her to ring the company and find out where it had been delivered. I can only think she did not prebook the accommodation. Carrie deals with our backpack transfer and does it online and always photos the little envelopes before we leave. I hope the lady was ok.
We are in a mixed dormitory but no bunk beds. Its quite cramped with very little room between each bed. There are 5 lockers and 7 beds… so make of that what you will!
After a quick lunch (hot dog with cheese 😄) I had to reschedule our itinerary again as I messed up one of the dates. Grrrrr! All sorted but having problems with accommodation for 2 dates in May, might have to stay out of town. Sometimes a good thing.
Now off for some paella.
Postscript:
The paella was amazing and I would have been pleased to have been served it in any restaurant whereas I was in a tiny little bar in a town in the middle of nowhere. Carrie by the way wanted a flavour of home so had egg and chips and it did look delicious!

YOU’RE SO RIGHT
It is my personal belief that at all times, in the opposite direction of the camera, hidden from view, every Sonic character is carrying a sweet and neat lil backpack, messenger bag, or fannypack. They are being erased from canon because my guardian angel knows I would buy every single one, and they can't let me bankrupt myself like that.
#also ur tags are genius and canon now#the tags —>#sonic and tails have matching backpacks and daypack sets for all occasions#knuckles has a handsewn messenger bag#amy has many trendy bags to cycle in and out#shadow uses one of rouge's handbags#they both use omega to carry their handbags#etc.etc. you get the idea#wonderincs

Packing cubes save space when backpacking - you can really cram stuff into a smaller space - but also don'tforget about the weight of things. Take about half of what you initially lay out, except for underwear! I often take a bunch of similar colours - e.g. things that go with blues. It makes it easier to mix and match and also for washing cos you can just do one load. Have some space in your bag for things you pick up on your travels rather than having it jam-packed right from the off. Or you could also take stuff that's older that you don't mind getting rid of if you buy something new.
Think about how often you need stuff and don't put frequent things at the bottom of your backpack. At the same time, try to put heavy things at the bottom. It's easier to carry that way.
A thin little daypack that doesn't take up much space in your main backpack is great to have for daily use. I also take a little drybag in case I need to protect stuff from the rain (or to use to carry wet stuff).
Those are the main things that come to mind!
I HAVE NO IDEA UOW I MISSED THIS!
Yeah I’ve seen a lot of people use packing cubes and I’ve heard really good things about them so they seem like a must!
Taking half of what I initially put out actually sounds like a really good idea actually I just don’t know how good I’ll be with it because I’ll end up justifying everything😂 but I’ll try!
I think neutral colours are probably what I’ll go with just because I know I’ll wear it all then and there’s nothing that won’t go! (Didn’t think about it helping with washing but that’s a good point)
Putting heavy things at the bottom makes sense I’ll definitely remember that! I’ll definitely be taking a smaller backpack for everyday use and a dry bag seems like a must!
Thank you so much! This was really useful definitely keeping this all in mind! (Sorry I left it so long I have no idea how I didn’t see it😅)
