Best Surah to Read on Arafah: A Spiritual Guide
The Day of Arafah holds immense significance in Islam. It is a day for reflection, prayer, and drawing closer to Allah. On this sacred day, Muslims engage in acts of worship, including reciting the Quran. But which Surah is the best to read on this blessed day?
Recommended Surahs to Read on Arafah
Surah Al-Ikhlas (Chapter 112) Surah Al-Ikhlas is often recommended for its concise yet profound emphasis on monotheism. Its recitation on Arafah reminds believers of the oneness of Allah and their submission to Him: “Say, He is Allah, [Who is] One, Allah, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born, nor is there to Him any equivalent.”
Surah Al-Kahf (Chapter 18) Reading Surah Al-Kahf on Arafah is encouraged for its themes of patience, faith, and reliance on Allah. The Surah contains inspiring stories, such as the People of the Cave and the lessons of Dhul-Qarnayn, which resonate deeply on this day of worship.
Surah Al-Fatihah (Chapter 1) Known as “The Opening,” Surah Al-Fatihah is a prayer for guidance and mercy. Its recitation aligns with the core purpose of Arafah — seeking Allah’s forgiveness and blessings.
Verses of Supplication Apart from entire Surahs, many Muslims choose to recite verses that contain supplications, such as Ayat-ul-Kursi (Chapter 2:255) or the closing verses of Surah Al-Baqarah (2:285–286).

O Allah, grant us of your fear what will prevent us from disobeying you, and of your obedience that will bring us to your Paradise, and of certainty that will make the calamities of this world easy for us, and give us enjoyment of our hearing, sight, and strength as long as you keep us alive, and make him the inheritor from among us. We will take revenge on those who wronged us, and we will be victorious against those who are hostile to us. The First Ten Days Of Dhu al-Hijjah
The first ten days of Dhu al-Hijjah are considered the most sacred and blessed days in the Islamic calendar.
Muslims are encouraged to increase their worship, prayer, and acts of charity during this period.
Fasting on the 9th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, known as the Day of Arafah, is highly recommended for those not performing Hajj.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasized the importance of these days, stating that “there are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days.” [Jami` at-Tirmidhi 757]
Eid al-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, falls on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah and commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God. . . . #hajj#dhulhijjah#dayofarafah#makkah#masjidalharam#allahﷻ#sacrifice#clocktower#dua#blessed#days#arafah#islamic#IslamicReminders#islamicposts#muslimummah#DoGoodDeeds#fast#deeds#deen#makkah#madinah#islam#dhulhijjah2024#islam#Muslims#Ummah#eiduladha#kaaba#ramadan#eidmubarak

If you've wasted the last week, then now is the time to step up your ibaadah ! Tomorrow, ( the day of ' Arafah ) utilise your time wisely, seclude yourself in worship without any distractions. How to benefit from the day of 'Arafah ? 1. Set your alarms for the last third of the night. Make a firm resolve and make duah asking Allah ta'ala to help you wake up. 2. Prepare a list of every single Dua you wish for (even small ones). 3. Wake up in the time of tahajjud and pray 2 rakah or 4 or whatever you can . And seek forgiveness 4. Eat sahoor while intending the fast for the day of arafah 5. Pray Fajr and do not rush to your phone or other things. Instead sit back and do all the adhkaar after fajr salat and remember Allah till sunrise. 6. If you pray salatul AlDuha after sunrise , then the reward is like complete hajj and umrah. 7. Recite a page or two from the Qur'an and begin your day. 8. Keep reciting the best supplication on the day of arafah , all day. 9. Do not sleep through dhuhr and asr. Pray your fardh salaat and try praying nawafil as well. 10. Between asr and maghrib , use the precious time for seeking forgiveness, ask Allah all your wishes (Dua list) Spend time reciting some pages of the Qur'an because each alphabet has a reward of ten good deeds. 11. Do not forget the takbeer after each fardh salaat. PUT YOUR PHONE AWAY, Stay far from social media. WHY? The Blessed Laylatul Qadr is NOT KNOWN , yet we strive hard to find it so that we can get its blessing. The Blessed Day of Arafah is KNOWN , will we not do enough to reap its blessings? How we strive during Laylatul Qadr is exactly how we should strive in the Day of Arafah ! Such Blessed times occur only ONCE in a Year ! Strive hard... @islams_message #muslimah #hijabi #sabr #islam #islamicquotes #arafat #islamicreminders #muslimillustrator #madewithlove #doodlesofinstagram #usdoodles #illustrator #notmyquote #doodlesoftheworld #dayofarafah #muslimquotes #quranicverse #alhamdulillahforeverything #arafa #digitaldrawing #mashaallah #allahisthegreatest #doodle_art #instamuslim #muslimhijab #islamisbeautiful #islamic_art #quraan #prophetmuhammad #islams_message https://www.instagram.com/p/CfsqUWnKcj3/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

So, you’re drowning with sins. You’re thinking that you are the worst person in this world - that you do not have value nor do you have any bit sense of respect left towards yourself.
Yet look at how Allah covers you with His guidance and Mercy. Do you think that this guilt and remorse you feel right now came out of the blue? Have you not thought for a second that this is Allah reminding you of Him? Subhan’Allah. Who amongst us does not drown with sins? Who amongst us does not sin? But I want to remind you that indeed you have Allah, the One who responds to those who call upon Him.
_____ If you, amongst millions of others, feel this way then I want to remind you of about the significance of this beautiful day, the day of Arafah.
Once a Jewish man came to Umar Ibn Al-Khattab Radiyallahu Anhu asking: “O Leader of the Believers! There is a verse in your Book, which is read by all of you (Muslims), and had it been revealed to us, we would have taken that day (on which it was revealed) as a day of celebration.” Umar Radiyallahu Anhu asked, “Which is that verse?” The Jew replied: "This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion."
Umar replied, "By Allah! I know when and where this verse was revealed to Allah's Messenger. It was the evening on the Day of Arafah on a Friday." You might be wondering what’s with the Day of Arafah, here’s a little list:
The Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalaam said: • "There is no day on which Allaah frees people from the Fire more so than on the day of Arafah. He comes close to those (people standing on Arafah), and then He reveals before His Angels saying, ‘What are these people seeking." [1] • "The promised day is the Day of Resurrection, the witnessed day is the Day of ‘Arafaah, and the witnessing day is Friday." [2] • The best of supplications are those on the Day of Arafah. [3]
• The day on which Allah perfected the religion (Islam) and completed His favor. [4] • "It [fasting on this day] expiates the sins of the past year and the coming year." [5]
______ Allahu’akbar! How beautiful is this day? My dear brother and sister in Islam there is a reason why Allah chose you to be amongst those people who would be able to stand in prayer, recite His remembrance, observe the fast, read the Qur'an and perform good deeds today. So rise amongst those who seek to purify their souls today, emerge amongst those who flee to their Lord, and be amongst those who hasten and yearn for the forgiveness of their Lord. You may have been so sinful the whole of your life but today is the day of Arafah, fast so your sins may be expiated, ask so your prayers may be answered, repent so Allah may accept your repentance and forgive your sins. Sometimes, we don’t get to realize the great opportunities that Allah places us in, don’t fail to recognize that today.
Make this day count. Cleanse your soul with repentance and heal your heart with asking forgiveness from Allah.
It’s never too late to repent. Believe me, it never is. As long as you still have a beating heart, it means Allah is waiting for you. So call upon Him the most today. ______ May Allah forgive us and accept our good deeds. Amin Zohayma ______ Story was taken from • Ahmad, narrated by Tariq bin Shihab Ahadith were taken from: [1] Sahih Muslim 1348 [2] Tirmidhi [3] Tirmidhi [4] Tirmidhi [5] Sahih Muslim 2603
