storage room sunshine 𖤓 - b. chan
summary: bang chan and school go hand in hand (and he loves holding hands) genre: fluff/angst pairing: m!reader x christoper bang chan word count: 4.4K
request: can I request a bang chan x male reader angst and fluff fic. Both of them were high school sweethearts back in the day. They ended things because Chan had to go to Korea to pursue his dreams. Years passed, their high school prepared a reunion. Chan came back to Australia with Felix because it was their break and Chan got the invitation and he came. Once he got there, the two reunited and caught up. After the night was over, both of them still loved each other.
@jihanbang
“channie~.” a voice drawled. in front of them was the sight of a lovestruck idiot staring right at the object of their affection.
that lovestruck idiot was christopher bang chan, staring at his first love, [y/n].
chan was gazing at his crush as he was in a deep trance, seeing him talk to his friends and giggling. chan was somewhat jealous on his friend making him giggle, but he wasn’t really mad considering his friend was a girl and he knew she didn’t stand a chance against him. his lips slowly smirked, nodding to himself that he knew he won your heart. he stared at his body language, seeing how vulnerable he was with her and how much he had made her smile. that was the one thing chan had noticed you did so often.
chan was nicknamed the classroom’s ray of sunshine from how bright he was. everyday walking into class, chan would greet his teacher with a smile and a random gift he had found on his way to school. they were usually flowers, such as daisies or a daylily, though he wasn’t immune to the usual “off” gift. skipping into class happily, chan had somehow walked through the school entrance with a small lizard in his hand. though his teacher wasn’t initially into the gift (considering she was immensely creeped out by them), she had made the lizard the class pet named mr. snoogles. chan prided himself on being the classroom’s sunshine, yet you were his.
one particular day during the middle of the first month of school, chan and his friends were playing somewhat kind of rough. playing football (and adding somewhat rowdy boy tactics), chan had gotten the ball and stared down at his feet, not noticing who or what was in front of him until he was stopped. dribbling the ball between his feet, he had felt the wind in his hair and the adrenaline. he was radiating joy as he-
b o n k!
he was immediately knocked over, as him and his friends had agreed on adding the rule…
whoever has the ball can be knocked over by his mates UNLESS wearing blue or red (because boys like blue and red was their shared favorite color)
rubbing his temple, chan landed right on his behind. he groaned loudly, his eyes widening when he heard the sound of feminine cries. looking ahead of him was a girl. she was adorned in a small floral dress, her shoes being cute white boots. her hair was brown yet in the sunlight, red. as chan stared at her, his friends immediately went to help him up. a small eruption of the classic “ooh’s” came from his friends’, making chan turn a small ruby red color. he scratched his nape, extending his hand as he tried to help her up. swatting his hand, he winced as he looked at his friends for help.
“i- um…”
“are you okay?” a voice emerged from almost nowhere. turning his head behind him was a small child dressed in a bigger than necessary bronze and off-white argyle styled sweater. his bottoms were ripped gray jeans, wearing what seemed to be non-cheap boots. that boy was [y/n]. chan was immediately starstruck, seeing how someone could be so cute and almost glowing under the australian sun.
“he hit me!” the girl cried, pointing at chan. chan’s face flushed. meeting his [e/c] eyes, chan put his hands up in front of him as if he was being told to surrender by the authorities. slowly marching towards him, your eyes meeting. chan was somewhat taller than you but you had that stare down ever since you were five and could eat ice cream. studying his face for a while, you smiled brightly as you leaned past him and looked at your friend.
“i don’t think he meant to, amelia.” you covered for him, seeing all the other taller boys stare at you as you soothed her. sneaking pass between chan, brushing his arm, you made your way towards her and helped her up. she dusted off her dress, making sure there wasn’t any grass marks as she pouted, stomping her foot.
chan was deep in thought, seeing how gentle you were with her. your voice was what made chan practically fall in love. it was a calming sensation, almost like white noise but rather than helping him sleep, it was helping him wake up. chan’s routine everyday was to wake up, go to school, homework and any other extracurricular activities he had at home and/or school. now, it was to wake up and think of [y/n], go to school and see [y/n], do homework while thinking of [y/n] and do any other activity while thinking about [y/n].
“i still want an apology!” she demanded, making you giggle. rolling your [e/c] eyes, you looked over at them and smiled at chan directly. his heart skipped a beat, making him feel as if he was sick because of how many butterflies were swarming in his stomach. his friend eyed him, seeing chan just in deep thought as he maintained eye contact with you. bumping him softly, chan stuttered out an apology.
“o-oh! sorry…” he mumbled, looking down as he scratched his arm. the girl, amelia smiled as she got what she wanted. turning on her heel, she announced a “thank you” and sauntered off. following behind her, you made your way with your friend. looking back, you waved towards chan and smiled at him. chan was mentally gone. it wasn’t chan in that mind of his, but a boy on a mission to get the boy of his dream. you were his ray of sunshine.
as chan kept staring at his crush, his friends began to slowly became exasperated. one friend grabbed a heavy textbook, extending his arm with the book in hand and dropped it onto the desk. everyone in the class jumped, turning towards the direction of the sound. chan jumped, covering his ears as he looked at his friends, annoyed.
“what?” he muttered, looking at his mates. they all glared at chan, then glancing at the thing he was “zoning out” on. chan whipped his head, seeing you now talking to a boy. chan grinded his teeth, now almost seething. his friends noticed, bending over and patting his shoulders.
“it’s just jed, nothing to worry about.” one friend reassured. chan felt a bit calmer, nodding as he realized that it was just jed and it was nothing to worry about. jed wasn’t much to worry about considering he was just an artist and he-
“wow!” you exclaimed, now touching jed’s somewhat muscly arm. your [s/c] fingers ran up his arm, chuckling as you looked up at jed.
he lied. jed was a problem. he was worst than math and broccoli and bleu cheese.
“well, i mean it’s not like he’s laughing?” his shorter friend spoke.
he spoke too soon.
you were now giggling a little too much, causing chan to clench his fist. chan then bounced off from his seat, making his way towards you. seeing him come towards you, you waved with your other hand, the latter still on jed’s arm. chan came to a stop, draping his arm on your shoulders, looking at jed. eyeing him down, jed let out a sheepish chuckle.
“hey, chris!” he said through clenched teeth, pulling his arm away and rolling down his sleeve. chan looked down at you, feigning a “happy” smile.
“can we chat for a bit?” he asked. before you could answer, chan and you were racing out of the classroom, hand in hand. chan was dragging you along to your guys’ spot. you two had become closer everyday as you two were spending time in an abandoned storage room. in this room, you two had laughed, cried and even just sat in silence while doing homework. the pair of you had made this room the room of privacy, where anything said here's to never leave the room whatsoever.
pushing open the heavy gray door, chan had pushed passed the usual shelves and made your way to the dusty old forest green leather sofa. sitting you down, chan stood in front of you and clapped his hands, catching his thoughts.
“okay! so, um…” chan grunted, looking at you staring at him lost. he exhaled, making his way to sit beside you. he placed his head on your shoulder, playing with the loose string on his pants.
“do you like jed…?” he asked. chan had gotten used to you that he didn’t need to beat around the bush. he felt that with a single look, you two could just understand one another. today was also the day that chan dreaded.
a week ago, chan had done the bravest thing he did (other than asking you out on “dates” which he never specified were dates BUT i mean they kind of were if you thought of them hard enough). chan had asked his parents to take him to a k-pop audition, held by a company named JYP. rather than him going to them, they came to him. inviting them to their house, chan pulled out all the works. he had played the instruments such as guitar, piano and more. along with those, he had shown them videos of him singing and dancing as he wanted to be an idol and they rarely needed to showcase their instrumental prowess.
a week later, chan’s parents were given a call saying he had made it! except one downside, he had to go to korea, which wasn’t that bad since he was set on his dream. practically beaming, he was ready to go yet he forgot one thing…
he had to go.
looking up at you, your eyes met as you smiled softly. your hand reached up and patted his cheek, making him feel at home. you stuck your tongue out, thinking as you hummed to yourself before answering.
“jed’s nice but i mean, not the guy i like.” you answered, making chan shoot up immediately.
“if you don’t like jed then who?!” he yelled, before clearing his throat and relaxing. he had saw your eyes glitter, seeing your lips curl into a smile as you showed your pearly whites. chan brought his palms into his face, hiding it as he showed his jealousy toward the idea of you being with anyone else. though you were both teenagers, he felt strongly on how he felt for you and didn’t want to lose you…
even though you could never be together.
you stood up, pacing back and forth teasingly. chan groaned, peeking through his hands as he looked at you, tapping your chin. running a hand through your [h/c] hair, you sighed with a smile. turning on your heel, you stood in front of him. looking up at your friend, the two of you just smiled at one another. you had placed both arms on chan’s shoulder, interlocking your hands behind his nape. he instinctively placed both hands on your waist. though this was intimate to others, to you two, it meant nothing which killed him inside. whenever he held you during “regular friend cuddles” or simple “regular friend hangouts yet you two held hands,” he cherished how much he could get close to you before he left.
“my crush is…, tall. has dimples, sings and plays instruments. he loves football and he’s my friend.” you hinted, now swaying as you both held onto one another. chan smirked, before dropping it as he whined, throwing his head back.
“michael?! him?” he said in disbelief, “he doesn’t even wear socks! and he barely even does his homework in music so i don’t even see how you think he’s good at them.” he fussed, making you look up at him as you grinned from ear to ear. he looked down at you, pouting as you kept eyeing him. staying there for a minute, he kept eye contact with you until…
d i n g!
“oh.”
chan now realizing who you were talking about, he looked away. his face was almost like a rose, shining a bright red as the sunlight poured through the water glass window. while the sun poured in, the room filled with joy and love. your finger tapped his chin, causing chan to turn his head slowly. chan, lost in his emotions, eyed your soft lips and back to your eyes. then, in that moment, you two had confirmed your emotions for one another. in that moment, you were the only two who could fly through the earth in one another’s grasp. in this moment, you were each other’s.
and in the next week, he was gone.

“yo! chris!” the other aussie member teased, nudging into his leader. felix, brushing his leader gently while he sat in a practice room. he was staring at the gray concrete wall of the 1MILLION studio. he was sweating, wearing a black tank top and green baggy cargo pants. he wiped his sweat from his temple, listening to his members laugh with one another. chan turned his head towards, felix.
“hey~, i’m your leader/older. talk to me right.” he replied, causing felix to smile.
“sorry.” he said, sitting next to him and feeling the cool wall against his loose baggy white long sleeve. this was their last practice before heading to felix’s and bang chan’s home, australia.
“what are you thinking about, bro?” felix inquired, eyeing his leader with wide eyes, trying to get him to laugh. he succeeded, but chan went back to his tired self a second later. the burlier man shrugged, taking a small sip of his water bottle.
“just, things, y’know?” he said, handing felix a water bottle to drink from. chan sat up, no longer leaning against the wall and slouched over. he began to play with a loose string from his white socks, smiling to himself.
“we go home before promotions but there’s this one thing i’m kind of dreading.” he told the rapper, making felix scooch closer and looking at him. feeling his gaze at his crown, chan looked up and laid down looking at him. he smiled.
“my high school’s having a reunion and i got an invite but…” he paused, letting the younger get comfortable before continuing. felix laid on his stomach, his head in his hands as he kicked his feet. though they were grown men, nothing could stop the boys from feeling young with one another.
“i didn’t graduate and i’m overthinking this one thing.” he revealed, causing felix to furrow his eyebrows. chan looked over, smiling.
“there was this special someone and i don’t even know what happened to them when i left. we were close and when i came here, there was no way for us to keep in contact so, i lost them. i don’t even know if they graduated school so i won’t even see them there.” chan worried, covering his face with his hands. felix sat up, slouching over as he tapped his leader.
“why don’t we go?” felix offered, grinning at him. chan looked at him, chuckling.
“for what? not like i deserve to see them considering i came here and-”
“and became well-known as a composer and everything else?” felix interrupted, making chan stutter.
he began to think. what was the harm in going? not like the others would be unsupervised in australia as they’ve been there before and they had lee know. along with that, management would never just let the boys run away all silly so, what was their to lose? other than the fact that what if you weren’t even there?
chan groaned, shaking the thought out of his head. he was happy for you regardless, even if you had a new man in your life who wasn’t jed or michael or shawn and any other guy he remembered in high school. the thought of his own jealousy made him feel better. screw it. he was going to his high school reunion.
now, weeks passed, the two aussie boys were dressed up in a suit and standing before the doors. they had gotten ready in chan’s family home in his old room. chan fixed his black tie, which complimented his black suit. he looked like he was fresh off the bachelor. felix was wearing a black button up with black slacks. he adorned silver jewelry, swiping off lint on his leader’s suit. chan, known as chris here, was shaking a bit looking at the auditorium doors. the suit was a little tight but that was because he was just getting bigger before promos. one wrong move and his pecs would just pop out the button up. placing the sticker on his right pec, he tapped and let out a deep breath. this was nothing. he’s preformed in front of so many people almost every week so this was a piece of cake.
opening the doors, the two boys were met with lively music and lights in every color. the sound of everyone chatting plastered a bright smile on their faces. they assumed it would’ve been like in TV shows, where no one was happy nor wanted to even be there yet it was the opposite. chan looked around the room, seeing somewhat familiar faces as no one changed immensely. the roof was lined with streamers and balloons. above the stage was a great big gold banner, with the word “welcome” as it greeted all the previous students.
“wow! this is so cool!” felix shouted in his ear, causing him to wince. felix chuckled.
“sorry! this is so cool though! ooh, look! snacks!” he zoned in on the refreshment table, making his way as chan followed behind. felix grabbed two red solo cups, moving an inch to his right and pouring in what seemed to be pink lemonade. weirdly for an all-adult high school reunion, it felt like a kindergarten party. chan had taken a sip, puckering as the drink was sourer than a sour lolly. felix coughed, setting the cup down and opening a water bottle. chan shook his head, trying to forget the taste already.
“hi chris!” a voice blurted over the music. looking to his right was his old high school friend. chan beamed, extending one arm to hug him. soon after came the rest of his group, who all began the ball of compliments towards one another. the conversation was filled with the common “how are you’s” and talk on how his journey in korea was. the conversation felt like almost an hour but it was only five minutes (that’s how long it took for felix to drink all of his lemonade).
hearing the doors open due to the unique creak, chan turned his head towards the door and saw someone walk in. they were dressed in almost the best clothes in this whole room, seeing that it was a familiar fashion brand he had collabed with. their pants were baggy silk cargos, making them flow across the room. everyone had basically stopped and stared, so did felix and he didn’t even go here.
chan squinted, seeing the person smiling as their hair covered most of their face. they had went directly towards the principal and greeted them. they seemed tall, a bit incher than most of the average heighted people in here. looking at their hands, they seemed to be a bit unafraid of the inking needle.
“who’s that?” someone quizzed, tip toeing to see who had made the room almost come to a stand still.
“that’s [y/n]! they just came back from a modeling gig in dubai!” someone chirped, causing chan to whip his head at the trio who were speaking of his former crush.
“they weren’t a model.” someone corrected, causing the previous to roll their eyes.
“okay, the fashion editor’s assistant but they helped design and create some really good pieces and events!” the other retorted, taking a sip of their acidic lemonade. chan stared ahead at the sight.
his former crush, now dressed in what he recognized as fendi, tommy hilfiger and almost every brand he could remember. seeing how you were changed, his brain had short circuited. comparing the shorter boy he had kissed, you were now traveling the world as a fashion editor’s personal assistant. other than that, you were making clothes and as well as hosting famous runways that he’s probably attended. he couldn’t believe it.
“you okay there, bro?” felix choked out, as half a brookie was in his mouth. he looked at his member, giving him a napkin as he soon darted towards you. it was as if it was a scene in a movie. though for him, it wasn’t a romance movie, it was a horror film.
brushing passed everyone, he had felt the toughness of each and everyone’s flesh layered by their clothing. it was if you tried to swim across the current, feeling pulled in yet moving so slow you had become a turtle. he felt the breath of everyone on him, to his neck to his finger tips. muttering a string of “excuse me’s” and “pardon me,” he continued looking at you. he saw the light of his life just in front of him yet he couldn’t reach. the heat radiating off everyone made small beads of sweat build up on his temple, where the roots of his hair protruded from his head. extending an arm to grab your shoulder, you were immediately pulled away to the right, making him stop in his tracks in his black dress shoes. he stood there, now in a crowded room alone.
⋆。°✩
as the night continued on, chan had made small talk with everyone. he and felix though had zoned out during the former principal’s speech, considering it wasn’t fair for felix to listen to it and chan never really seemed to care as he was communicating with his managers on when he would be back. he went throughout the night, occupying his head with thoughts other than you, finally coming to the decision he had lost you forever. he couldn’t see a speck of you anywhere at all, making him feel broken yet it wasn’t a big loss. he saw how you had changed, how much you were taking care of yourself.
around 10 PM, the party had watered down. everyone had dispersed and chan had sent felix home as he was eating too many sweets and drinking too much lemonade. he had told his leader that his “tummy was turning against him.” chan stood outside the school, sitting on a small stone wall that lined the front of the school. he reached down into his pocket, whipping out his phone as he looked at the messages he had avoided the whole night.
“excuse me! can i borrow your phone? mine died and i need to call someone so…” the voice trailed off, soon stopping as chan had made eye contact with them.
it was [y/n].
chan studied the new you. you had a small sleeve tattoo, as you had pullen your sleeve up and he saw a garden of tattoos on your arm. your eyes were the same, but almost now containing a more adult glimmer. your lips still were the usual [your l/c]. chan had looked at your hair, now not it’s natural color but what was now in a balayage and textured style. though it was textured, it reached your eyelashes, causing you to blink a lot. you were a little slimmer since you were an assistant who ran around everywhere. on your neck was a small golden chain with a diamond center, shining in the moonlight.
“oh, y-yeah.” he said, handing you his phone as he had already opened it to the calling app. you reached for it, dialing in a number. as he heard the beeps, chan listened to you talk on the phone. the white noise he had fallen in love with was back. the buzzing of the lights harmonized with you, making it almost surreal that you were standing above him. ending the call, you had returned the phone to it’s rightful owner. chan grabbed it, gently brushing your hand.
“thank you!” you said, letting out a small sigh of relief as he sat down next to him. he looked at you, seeing you undo your shoes and seeing how platformed they were. he knew it. you couldn’t have gotten that tall in a couple of years. he stared at your socks, both being mismatched. on your right foot was a jack-o-lantern sock, while the left was a baseball sock. he let out a small chuckle, causing you to turn your head. looking at your feet, you blushed.
“oh! yeah, they were all i saw before getting out of the house. i was already late so i felt bad.” you explained. he nodded, smiling as he unbutton his suit to reveal his mismatched button up.
“happens to us all.” he laughed, as you both smiled at one another. after a minute, you both sat in silence. you both snuck looks at one another yet missing each other’s eyes, causing chan’s heart to swell in agony as you seemed to not even remember him. taking this as a moment to be brave, he turned to you and reached forward to you.
“nice to meet you. i’m chris.” he introduced himself, feeling his heart slowly break. you reached over, shaking his hand. his palm began to get clammy, not realizing your hands felt soft like rose petals.
“i’m [y/n]!” you returned, making him smile. he shook your hand, squeezing gently as he let go.
“but~, i kinda like chan better.” you whispered, taking out your phone and showing the back of your phone case. on the back of your phone was a small PC of chan during his debut year, causing him to groan and hide his face. sitting up right, his hands on his knees and beaming. you were a fan, that’s a relief.
“yeah, i’m him.” he “revealed.” you blushed, holding your phone as you looked at him.
“are you still the same boy who kissed me in our storage room?” you timidly inquired. his face flushed, looking at how you were now somewhat smaller. chan’s ears began to warm up and become a soft pink color.
“uh, maybe?” he answered, causing you to bite your bottom lip. looking over into his eyes, you snickered. maintaining eye contact, you planted a quick kiss onto his cheek.
“are you still the same boy who likes pizza?” you asked, slyly scooting over and looking up into his brown eyes. chan grabbed your hand, grinning as he nodded and leaned a little closer.
“the night’s young. why not?” he replied.
chan was finally reunited with his sunshine.
(p.s., jed never stood a chance - chan)

A bit of welcome Autumn colour from the Day Lily (Hemerocallis Fulva) tiger daylily, roadside daylily. Orange daylily is native to Asia from the Caucasus east through the Himalaya through China, Japan, and Korea. Apparently they are actually not a lilly. I think there’s a much better value than real lilies because of the amount of flowers you get. I must keep my eye open for some different colours. #DayLily

Falling Dark Chapter 24 is Up!
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13886657/24/Falling-Dark
https://archiveofourown.org/works/31444262/chapters/94473175
Draco picked up a scroll he'd flung carelessly toward the sofa when he'd come in earlier. It had arrived this morning via the Malfoy eagle owl, bearing the Malfoy crest. He unrolled it again and let his eyes skim over Narcissa's curling script, trying to absorb a little more than when he'd first read it.
Ostensibly, it was a summons—to the Manor for some sort of planning session-cum wedding rehearsal next month—but under the surface it was message telling him what he already knew. Narcissa had been unsuccessful, Lucius had won, and the wedding would go forward as planned. Not that Draco had doubted it. But now it was official; all avenues exhausted and all hope extinguished.
"The daylilies should be in some profusion by late June, so the ceremony will be in the West Garden. And after an afternoon reception, you'll be at liberty to go. Assuming you'd rather not have a traditional honeymoon, your father has agreed to provide a suitable dwelling in a locale of your choosing, so please confer with Ms. Greengrass and inform me of your choice.
London would be convenient. Paris may suit.
I will also be granting you an independence that will allow you to live comfortably, although you may want to consider further studies or even work. Your activities, at least for the next few years, will be your own to determine."
Another read between the lines told Draco that Lucius hadn't prevailed without concessions. It was a major boon that he and Astoria wouldn't have to live at the manor or even in Britain at least for a while. And the money—the "independence" (loaded word)—sounded as if it would be provided by Narcissa, likely out of her Black inheritance, and thus not subject to Lucius's control. So, Draco would get to do what he wanted with his time rather than act as his father's apprentice. This had to have been a highly disputed point and Draco could only imagine how it had all come about. He found himself rather glad he hadn't been at home the last few months.
He almost smiled, but then the expression faded.
What did any of it matter?
He let the scroll drift from his fingers.
Even with the money and his freedom, even in Paris with Blaise, he'd still be miserable.
He closed his eyes as Hermione's face drifted through his mind again. The way she'd looked when Astoria had spoken for him. When she'd reached for him, but let her hand drop. He'd seen some kind of finality in that dropped hand. The start of real acceptance, perhaps.
And he needed to do the same. Snap out of this strange fugue-state he'd been in since he found out she knew about the spell. Get back to the place where he'd surrendered to his fate.
In only three months, he'd meet it. In the bloody West Garden.
Draco flung up and walked to his liquor shelf, splashing some Ogdens into a glass and taking a long drink.
In some ways, it would be a mercy, leaving here and not having to see her everyday. And in other, more potent ways, it would be torture. He stared into nothing, feeling the bite of the whiskey at the back of his throat. What would she be doing and where would she go? She'd spoken of muggle university once. A long time ago in a warm meadow. But now she had friends in London and family in Australia…
Maybe Paris would be best for him. It seemed like he'd be least likely to cross her path there. And depending on his N.E.W.T. scores, he could get an apprenticeship—Potions or Charms. Maybe even Transfiguration. Something to occupy his mind.
Draco took another deep drink, welcoming the harsh burn of the alcohol. Although—he held up his glass—maybe his occupation should be finding a way to make a better wizarding whisky…
He almost laughed at this thought as he heard the trapdoor jostle and turned to see Astoria's slight form climbing through.
He raised a brow at her as she stood and dusted at her long, fitted skirt. She looked about as good as he did, pale and sickly. He hadn't been able to bring himself to look Hermione's way at all today, but he had come face to face with Pansy, who appeared as if she hadn't slept in days.
All of them wrecked and ruined by this thing.
"Oh good, you're here," Astoria said, looking up. Draco noticed spots of hectic red in her cheeks, stark against her papery skin.
Draco shrugged. "Want a drink? I think it's almost five o'clock."
Astoria shook her head impatiently. "No." She stepped forward. "Draco, Theo and Daphne want to talk to us."

So now I have five more of these small vessels. The paper is daylily and hemp, the images are of endangered species in Victoria/Australia. Land use is the common threat for all species facing extinction...and there is no reason we all can’t live together, if only humanity could curb our destructiveness.

Another Day Lily (Hemerocallis Fulva) tiger daylily, roadside daylily. Orange daylily is native to Asia from the Caucasus east through the Himalaya through China, Japan, and Korea. Apparently they are actually not a lilly. This one has been growing down the back for the last 20 years and always puts on a good show of flowers each year. It grows on rainwater alone and is at the top of a stone bank facing south. #DayLily

How To Grow Daylilies in Pot?
Daylilies are used to brighten up backyards and our homes. The best way to grow them is to plant daylilies in pot. Once you plant daylilies in the pot then you can transfer that plant to any place of your choice. Daylilies can be potted at any time of the year. You need to choose dwarf daylilies if you want to grow them in pots. Get quality daylilies online from daylilies garden in Australia.

Saturday, August 4th 2018 – The Harrow at Little Bedwyn, Wiltshire
Little Bedwyn is a very tiny village (also spelled Little Bedwin, and also known as Bedwyn Parva), with a population of 250 at the last count. It also has an Iron Age hill fort (Chisbury Camp), a decorated Gothic former chapel (St Martin’s) and Bedwyn Dyke, an early medieval fortification which is similar to the Wansdyke. In addition, it contains a former pub that is now a one-Michelin starred restaurant. We did attempt to eat there back in January, but due to a failure to get past Open Table’s annoying software we failed. So, with Lynne holding a voucher for the place that was her birthday present from a group of our friends, we made a fresh booking, booked ourselves in at the same B&B we’d stayed at then, and were looking forward to it with some enthusiasm by the time our taxi dropped us at the door of The Harrow. The Harrow has been run by the same couple for 20 years now, with Sue and Roger Jones receiving their first Michelin Star in 2006 and retaining it ever since. It’s also got one hell of a wine list so this was going to be a good one!
We were very quickly supplied with a glass of Collet Brut Rosé Champagne, some bread, and a spread made of butter beans. The bread was excellent, as was the spread, and the Champagne, which is 40% Chardonnay, 50% Pinot Noir (of which 15% is vinified in red wine), and 10% Pinot Meunier was delightful and did the trick of making us feel very welcome, very quickly. As did the fact that Lynne’s place setting also included a birthday card signed by all the staff!
A study of the menu was fun, though I don’t think we were ever in much doubt that we would end up opting for the tasting menu and the matching wines.
An amuse bouche of tiny little rolls of Kelmscott cured ham, smoked cod’s roe and Rosary goat’s cheese appeared while we finished off our aperitifs, and very fine they were. The smoked cod’s roe in particular packed a punch, and the whole resulting umami wave was the perfect start. The first wine was produced and poured, an excellent Von Buhl Jesuitengarten Riesling 2012, from the Pfalz in Germany. This was an old-fashioned off dry Riesling complete with the faintest hint of petrol that the old-style Rieslings tend to have. We were impressed so far. It was meant to accompany the fabulous Venison Rossini, a tiny medallion of rare venison, tender and gamey and delicious, with a sliver of Perigord truffle on top, in a tiny savoury/sweet meringue “bun”, on a round of foie gras. It was tiny but wonderful and I ended up eating it in tiny bites to try and make it last as long as possible.
Next up was a single perfect scallop, served with that classic accompaniment of chorizo and peas, the peas a summery hit of sweetness and crunch. Lynne enjoyed them and she will only tolerate peas if they are of the freshest quality possible. It was served with a Ktima Biblia Chora Ovilos 2016 white, a mixture of Assyrtiko and Semillon from Kavala in Greece. It delivers aromas of apricot and honey, tropical fruit and citrus, the latter in particular coming through in conjunction with the seafood.
So far, so good. And it only improved as we went on. The next dish was a Pembroke lobster tail, still sweet and soft and perfectly cooked, that had been deep-fried in the lightest of tempura-style batters, with a Thai spice mix that gave the flesh a pleasing level of heat.
The accompanying “noodles” were made out of courgettes, spiralised, and topped with a petal from a daylily (apparently humans can eat these; cats mustn’t).
This time the accompanying wine was South African, a Jordan Nine Yards Chardonnay 2015 from Stellenbosch. It’s made in a reserve style, from barrel selections from their best vineyard site, hence their claim that they have gone “the whole nine yards”, producing a wine packed with citrus flavours (lime) and oak. Next up was another fish dish, a Cornish sea bass, line caught, and served with minuscule, woody, earthy girolles and crunchy lemony fresh sea asparagus. The fish was beautifully cooked, flaking away as the fork was stuck into it, with a crisp skin that contrasted nicely with the soft flesh. It came with a glass of Bannockburn Pinot Noir 2016, from Central Otago in New Zealand, a light, dry red that went well with the fish.
We were now done with things that swim! Instead we had lamb, a perfect piece of Cardigan Bay lamb, which I assume is reared on the salt marshes, and tastes fabulous as a result. This is lamb as you always hope it will be and it so often isn’t! Ur-lamb if you will, served with some brilliant Provencal-inflected accompaniments, including some couscous, some tapenade, heritage tomatoes, and a glorious croquette of slow cooked lamb meat. It was as near perfect a lamb dish as I’ve encountered anywhere. It also went superbly with the Grosset Gaia Cabernet Sauvignon/Cabernet Franc 2011 from Australia’s Clare Valley. It’s grown at high altitude, and the resulting wine is plummy, jammy, densely rich with black fruits.
We now had the choice to opt out of the cheese course. We didn’t. Well, we wouldn’t, would we? We were provided with a selection of five very well-kept cheeses, served at just the right temperature and consistency, and thoroughly enjoyable. We paired them with a wine flight specifically chosen to go with the cheeses in question, which the staff kindly divided into half glasses of each, and a dessert wine for which they did the same. The wines were an Alvear Pedro Ximenez, Montilla 1927 which lived up to my claims that Pedro Ximenez really does taste like Christmas Pudding in a glass, an interesting and surprising Akashi-Tai Plum Infused Sake that was much sweeter than I’d expected and smooth as silk on the tastebuds, a Ramos Pinto Adriano Reserva port, and last but by no means least an Chilean Echeverria Late Harvest Noble Botrytis Sauvignon Blanc. I was quite happy at this end of the wine list, even if it meant that we were nearing the end of the meal.
“Eggs” have been a thing this Summer it seems to me given what happened at Skosh too. Here we had another one, this time a shortbread “soldier” and a mock egg of meringue for the white with a passion fruit and mango yolk. The passion fruit made it sharply sticky rather than too sweet, and the soldier was soft and crumbly and lovely.
The last dessert plate hit, an airily soft raspberry souffle, with a raspberry ice in a small glass, and some fresh strawberries and raspberries. It was delicious, the raspberries tart and sweet at the same time, and it was a refreshing end to a meal. The final wine was a lovely, sticky Heggies Botrytis Riesling 2015, from Eden Valley, Australia, just the right note to finish on.
We handed over the voucher, paid the remainder of the bill, and went outside to wait in the cool air for our ride back. Our lovely B&B landlady regularly acts as a taxi service for guests dining at the Harrow, so we were soon back at hers for a good night’s sleep before a trip to Stonehenge in the morning.

Homegrown harvest.😊 Its just as well we don't rely on it, but it's always delightful to have something homegrown to add to meals. Hopefully the peas and zucchini will go on to greater things, and the birds and possums will leave us plenty of fruit...🤞🏻I found the weevil while inspecting a nectarine tree. I'm not sure what they eat, but I think my nectarines are fairly safe from himher - unlike cockies and rosellas. Poppies and day lilies are food for the soul. The day lily came from Andrew Pinyon's mother's garden - must be around 30 years ago! #broadbeans #goldenpoddedpeas #cherries #blackberries #peas #zucchini #quince #weevil #australianinsect #poppies #daylily #fruitandveg #harvest #homegrown #gardening #backyard #flowers #flowersoftheday (at Moyston, Victoria, Australia) https://www.instagram.com/p/CIHqvJcLK26/?igshid=93jq8kwnhi98
