Classroom Strategies to Support Emotional Development in Children
Did you know that supporting emotional development in children is just as important as fostering their cognitive development? It’s true! Research has shown that emotional intelligence is a strong predictor of future success and happiness. So, as educators, it’s vital to implement effective classroom strategies that support children’s emotional development.
But where do you start? In this article, we will explore classroom strategies that can help support emotional development in children. From creating a safe and inclusive environment to promoting self-regulation and empathy, we will cover it all. We will also delve into the importance of understanding children’s emotions and how to foster healthy emotional expression.
Importance of emotional development in kids in early years
Emotional development in kids during the early years of their life is crucial for their overall well-being and success in life.
Here are five reasons why emotional development is so important during this time:
Helps in building relationships: During the early years, children are learning how to build relationships with others. By developing emotional intelligence, they are better equipped to communicate effectively, form strong bonds, and work together with others.
Helps in developing empathy: Empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of others. By learning to recognize and understand their own emotions, children are better able to develop empathy for others, which is essential for building positive relationships.
Helps in handling stress: Emotional development helps children learn how to handle stress and regulate their emotions. This is a crucial life skill that will help them cope with challenges and setbacks in the future.
Helps in achieving academic success: Research has shown that children who receive social-emotional support during their early years tend to achieve better academic outcomes. Emotional development helps children develop the skills they need to succeed in school and beyond.
Helps in achieving lifelong success: Emotional development is not just important for success in the early years, but it also sets children up for a lifetime of success and happiness. By prioritizing emotional development during this critical period, we can help children develop the skills they need to thrive in all areas of their lives.
An educator’s strategy for teaching social-emotional skills plays a vital role in a child’s well-rounded and balanced education. To achieve this, teachers must be attentive to the unique needs of each child and tailor their lessons and interventions accordingly.
Here’s how educators can support emotional development in children:
Be a caring listener for every child As a teacher, your presence and attention can be a source of confidence for a child dealing with difficult life circumstances. Providing positive attention is crucial for their self-image and development. It is essential to guide them as you build their trust, letting them know that you are there to help. Some learners may require additional support to feel self-assured and secure. Therefore, it is crucial to ensure that the learning environment is responsive to their social and emotional needs. By doing so, you can create a safe and supportive space that fosters growth and development.
Boosting emotional literacy Enhancing emotional literacy involves developing skills to recognize, understand, and express emotions in a positive and healthy manner. Children who do not learn how to use emotional language may struggle with identifying and labeling their own feelings, as well as understanding and empathizing with the emotions of others. Teaching emotional literacy to children is crucial in building their self-esteem, self-confidence, and emotional self-regulation skills. Here are some strategies that can be employed to enhance emotional literacy in every child:
Label and exemplify different emotions, including both positive and negative ones. Emphasize the importance of understanding and expressing emotions, and teach children appropriate ways of doing so.
Teach children how to recognize their own emotions as well as the emotions of others. Provide scenarios and encourage them to describe how they would feel in those situations.
Validate children’s emotions and create a safe space for them to express their feelings. Offer your full attention and reassurance.
Provide children with coping strategies to manage anger or upset, such as using a stress ball, playing with playdough, engaging in physical activities like jumping jacks, writing letters, or jumping on a trampoline. These strategies can help children calm down and provide a healthy outlet for their unpleasant emotions.
Foster meaningful connections Friendship skills are important for children to develop as they learn how to interact and work with others. Friendships provide opportunities for children to practice sharing, cooperation, taking turns, and resolving conflicts. Here are some ways to help children develop their friendship skills:
Set a good example by modeling appropriate friendship skills in your interactions with children and other adults.
Plan activities that specifically teach friendship skills, such as helping others, sharing, waiting for one’s turn, and working as a team.
Encourage and acknowledge positive behavior when children work together and help each other. Encourage other children to do the same.
Implement a buddy system where children support and collaborate with each other. For example, if a child is struggling with a particular subject, assign a peer who is knowledgeable in that subject to work with them.
Provide opportunities for children to work in groups, where they can learn to negotiate with their peers, develop leadership skills, and contribute their strengths to the group.
Recognizing emotions in ourselves and others Empathy entails the ability to recognize and comprehend the situations and emotions of others. It involves being attuned to the feelings of others and responding appropriately. When teaching children about empathy, it is essential to help them develop the skills to differentiate between their own emotions and those of others. Cultivating empathy is crucial in nurturing children’s emotional literacy. As an educator, you can support students in becoming more mindful of their own emotions and using that awareness to understand others in the following ways:
Model and reinforce various behaviors related to empathy.
Engage in activities that highlight similarities and differences among individuals to illustrate interconnectedness and individuality.
Encourage students to be observant of how their peers are feeling and provide opportunities for them to check in on each other.
Activities such as role-playing and role reversals can teach children how to empathize by putting themselves in others’ shoes.
Fostering problem-solving abilities Problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills are critical for children’s social-emotional development. When faced with challenges, it’s important to teach children how to manage the situation effectively and find solutions. This can help reduce impulsive behavior or aggression. Consider the following strategies for developing children’s problem-solving skills:
Identify the problem: Encourage children to vocalize the issue they are facing. Simply stating the problem out loud can often make a significant difference for a child who is feeling stuck or overwhelmed.
Foster critical thinking: Allow children to think and generate multiple solutions to common classroom challenges. Brainstorming should be encouraged, even if ideas may seem silly or far-fetched.
Recognize and provide feedback: Acknowledge and praise children who demonstrate good problem-solving skills. Positive reinforcement can reinforce and encourage further development of these skills.
Teach about consequences: Help children understand that every solution has consequences, both positive and negative. Role-playing activities can be used as a tool to illustrate this concept and deepen their understanding.
In conclusion, developing emotional and social skills in children is essential for their academic and personal success. By incorporating a childcare software like KinderPass into your teaching practice, it can help you be more efficient with your administrative duties and thus more effective in creating a supportive and engaging learning environment that helps children thrive socially, emotionally, and academically.

I just wanted to say I am so enamoured with Binary Insurgence! I eat up everything, every little crumb, you drop about it and the entire idea is so interesting to me! I'm so in love with stories and worlds like this! I'm also curious to know about the relationship between Sun and Moon, if it's alright to ask. How was it before the fire compared to after? Does their relationship begin to mend (because I'm certain over the years it deteriorated) when y/n comes back into the picture? If any of this is too spoilery or you just haven't fleshed it out yet then you don't have to answer! I'm just super curious about the boys and how you see their dynamic/relationship. I just look forward to seeing how their bond has grown and/or broken and how it may be mended over time.
AHH im glad you like it so much!! Im happy to talk about what i've got, but you are right not everything is fully fleshed out. I have points i wanna get to but while im brainstorming and planning i make up a lot of stuff as i go and then go over it again later to see if i like it or can connect stuff in any way. I have 3 chapters for Arc 1 fully summarized as of now! (Which probably doesn't seem like a lot but i like my chapters long, so it's quite a bit actually).
I wanna say, too, that i'm planning for the first story to be more in the perspective of the reader, so most things about Sun and Moon's personal thoughts and feelings are gonna be more implied than said. I might have some switching points of view, i'm not sure, but i haven't found a place i'd do it or think it's relevant. The sequel is gonna be more from their perspective since it'll mostly be about them.
NOW! I see Sun and Moon as brothers, so they really treat each other in a way that's like that. Before the fire they get along pretty well. Most instances of issue would be when Moon blocks out Sun when he fronts, or just mutual panic over the fact Moon lost his shit w/ the virus. They'll have their disagreements about things (i havent planned specifics yet) but generally they're chill. Sun just worries about Moon hurting people, but Moon worries too. With the way the virus functions in this AU it's hard for Sun to fully fault Moon for what he does, especially because he's also affected by it but not nearly as bad. (I'm gonna explain this more in another ask i have).
Plus, even before the virus they were always glitch/bug-ridden because technicians fucked up their programming continuously after removing them from the theater to work in the daycare. So they had to kinda navigate through that together, glitches and errors on both ends (though not deadly). They hate P&S bc of this, obviously. Hardware fixes suck but they fucking HATE software examinations.
Later on though some issues come into play whenever Sun starts getting worse by being further exposed to the virus (it gets worse for him when they eclipse) because it presents itself in Sun differently than it does Moon. He gets snappier and angrier at times (that comic i made that's captioned "well someones snappy") and while they both understand he doesnt mean the shit he does it's still not great. And nobody's gonna just let themselves be talked to like a dog even if the reason it's happening is because of something the other person can't really help. They're still relatively fine at this point, though.
It's at the end when shit goes really bad, because this part of the story does end badly. I won't spoil specifics but after the fire Sun loses his shit. He starts trying to put the blame on Moon for everything (the virus enhancing his already bad habits/fucking with his line of thinking) out of grief and anger. That carries over into the apocalypse and he just gets worse in general. He gets irrational.
It's a long period of time though, so he eventually also manages it, in his own way. But! I did say before in an ask that in the sequel he's "not evil, persay, but he's a fucking nut". He damns Moon to an hourglass to just fucking get rid of him about 100~ years before they meet you again (he fully thinks he's in the right for this (and he also just hates him) and the only reason he really even stayed around after that was to make sure Moon didn't get out again). He's not a bad-intentioned individual, but he's off the fucking wall at many times bc of the virus having made him worse. He's stubborn as all hell to an infuriating degree, he's irrational, hard-headed, reckless, and while a good bit of his old, kinder self is still pretty prevalent he can be downright fucking mean if provoked. Again, worse than before, and it doesn't take much these days! I always imagined him to have more dramatic, snappy, diva aspects to his personality (even before Help Wanted 2 came out) bc hes so theatrical and intense, so basically take a Sun that's like that, crank it up to 100 and put him in a Bad Situation. That's what Round 2 Sun is like at his worst. He's not a complete lost cause though, and he's far from dumb when he does stuff, just clouded by his own judgement. He doesn't think anything's wrong with him (or does he?).
Moon doesn't really hate him like Sun hates Moon, because although he knows that what happened (the ending of the first story) is technically both of their faults he just feels guilt. They do fight a lot, though. Most of it is Moon trying his best to tell Sun that he's basically full of shit and not seeing things right after Sun starts something, but Sun's at the point where he's gotta learn by consequence. Part of the reason he's so bad is bc 1: hes been infected by the virus for so long now and 2: in his grief, anger, and resentment he's learned to live with it rather than fighting it.
But the sequel is gonna be a feel-good story! Falling in love w/ the reader all over again, i want things to get cleared up - or at least some kind of middle ground between Sun and Moon - the whole sha-bang.

(the rest of) a bit of writing for Garbagechocolate's Truth virus AU
“Um
Friendo, I don’t, I don’t know how I feel about this” sun says from with the pizzaplex parts and service animatronic repair stationâ„ąïž. Having relized shortly after the repair station patented ïżŒparalysis kicked in, that they may not be as on board with this idea as they thought they were
From with in there shared operating system, moon let’s out what might have been a deep exhausted sigh if either of the had lungs,
“Gasp! What? final come to your sensesïżŒ about randomly downloading software because ‘it’ll be cool’” moon mocks
“In my defense starlight seemed so excited, what was I suppose to say moony” sun says back from with in the OS
“.. the truth”
That’s when they both hear their repair specialist Y/N call back “Did you two says something” from From somewhere beyond their current scope of vision they can hear here it sounds pretty muffled, after a bit they seem to poke their head back into view.
“Nothing starlight!” Sun hurries out with a grin
At this moon huffs
“Oh, um.. ah, actually
moon? Has um a few concerns, about this download” sun stutters out
“ oh don’t you two fret, Minecraft is a completely passive program, and this version should be a hundred percent compatible with your operating systems” y/n finishes with a thumbs up
“Oh”
“Yeah, so are you two ready?”
Sunny can feel moon doing the equivalent of slowing shaking his head from further back in the code
“Ready when you are, starlight!”
At that y/n starts the download, from here they can hear the faint loading chimes the main Control panel emits,
"...Alright....there we are,... downloads started, shouldn't take all night ,but it may take a bit" y/n says as they turn their gaze from the screen in front of them to the currently immobil daycare attendent, sat within the repair station, in the depth of parts and service.
"how are you two holding up?" y/n asks after a bit, breaking the relative silence, of the subterranean room
“Just peachy starlight!” sun said without thinking, and while it wasn’t a total lie, it wasn’t exactly true either, over the years the daycare attendant has had countless updates to their software and operating systems and while the uploading process is slightly different each time, they know what to expect by now, they know enough to know that something feels off about this.
“Sun. No, you feel it to” moon says, his voice coming through over the rising buzz of an ever growing number of binary strings as the files enter their operating system and make their selves at home, burrowing in and warping the applications around it to its managed tasks.
“Moony, I’am sure it’s fine, starlights checked everything over, they say it’s compatible, sure the download feels a little funky, but am sure its nothing”
“This doesn’t feel like nothing, Sun”
“How would you know we only ever get new security and health protocols these days” punctuated with a mental pout “ this is a game moony!! We’ve never got a game before, of course it’s going to feel different!”
“Listen, theres reasons we’ve never directly downloaded games before, do you ever know if you can run the game after getting it? ‘Compatible’ doesn’t mean usable” moon snaps back
“Well if you gonna be a spoil sport, we can uninstall if it doesn’t work, happy”
At this moon mumble something Sun can quite hear over the new application own internal humming.
Upon realizing this conversation with his darker half has come to a momentary halt, Sun turns his attention back to their code, by now he’s having l a bit of trouble ignoring the itchy squirming feeling these files leave him with.
Sun goes to voice this concerns with there trusted technician
 only to find that he can’t
moon let’s out a sound of exasperation, that can nearly be heard over the rumbling and buzzing of the code “tell y/n to pause this”
“
moony
I can’t, the controls are stuck”
“Let me see” moon says as he wrench control from sun, to see the interior controls are currently unavailable.
“What’d you do Sun?”
“ME! I didn’t do anything”
“The OS dosent just freeze like this on its own, and one download shouldn’t be enough to shut us down, what else is running” moons is growing noticeably more frustrated
While they continue to attempt troubleshootin, moon turns his attention outwards, now noticing that y/n may have been talking to them this entire time pacing back and forth for who knows how long.
“-portant you guys let me know, alright?” Y/n finished as they come to a stop in front of the glass cylinder, looking towards the still anamatronic expectantly.
“
right?
guys?” Y/n finish before concern starts to creep in
~~~~~
The daycare attendants have been uncharacteristically quiet, it has been a solid 15 minutes since they have lasted talked, I didn’t think much of it until there LEDs began to switch through a few settings before dimming completely.
At this point I am significantly more that a little worried, I fear, no I am certain that the altered version of Minecraft, that I suggest is causing this. I can’t just stop the download that is the first and most important thing they tell any engineer or technician that works here, that stopping mid upload or download or backup will cause irreparable damage to any and all of the bot under the faz co brand.
This is when it occurs to me that the most helpful I can do right now is, nothing, I’ve done enough damage already and any action I take now may just drawl this out or make it worse,
So instead of bolting to the console and running through every debugging program I can think of I sit, in the cheat plastic of the rolling chair sat by the console, and watch keeping vigil over the subterranean room and it’s robotic occupants.
~~~~~
“Oh. Hello” a metallic voice say, breaking the silence that’s settled over the room,
I jump a little, sorry to say I may have been zoning out as the hours of nothing stretched on, then spin around to see how bad I’ve goofed things up.
“Hey, your back” I say as I try and guess, who I might be talking to, usually it pretty clear which ai is fronting, if not by there appearance than there ‘voice’
This doesn’t seem to be the case right now, whoever just spoke is currently lacking Sun usually ïżŒexpressive lilt and Moons more taunting almost breathy inflection.
It seem like I might be I am be hearing there shared ‘base’ voice, this may mean they are still sorting themselves out, so while they finish ‘loading’ for lack of a better term, I turn my attention back towards to console to seem is I can gleam anything from the download stats.
After a bit of searching I think I come across the problem, while the application in question was compatible with the main operating system, it wasn’t nearly as compatible with the central processors of the attendances AI, and it seemed to have spawned new files in response. I can’t see see what they do from here, but this can wait,
In the computer screens reflection I can just barely see moon, sit up in the center of the repair station glowing red eyes fixed on me, I take a few deep breaths before turning to face the music.
“Moon” I say in acknowledgement, he simply nods back
“Alright, that didn’t seem to go quite to plan, could you run a quick diagnostics for me”
“Sure friend” moon responds in a surprisingly chipper manner, I try not to freeze up and being called a friend, I’ve worked alongside the daycare attendant for a while, and I’ve even talked with my predecessors on a few occasions, this first time I’ve ever heard of the night themed animatronic giving anyone this moniker, i try not to dwell or draw attention to this.
As I am getting ready to pull the nighttime attentions diagnostics stats up on my faz pad, he chimes in.
“Hm, everything’s moved around, I haven’t a clue what half of these files are” moon let’s me know, which it a bit suspicious, neither ai Is usual this forthcoming with there ailments, for whatever reason it usually takes more pestering to get this kinda information information.
“
what?” I blink in surprise, I am a little lost at whatever moons playing at
“There’s at least one background application running that doing something” he shrugs
“What’s that supposed to mean”
“No idea” he kinda shrugs again
“Alright. How are you feeling”
“No idea”
“What’s that’s supposed to mean”
“I don’t know yet” moon starts to look like he zooming out
“Fine, can I talk to sun then” I say try not to grit my teeth
“Sun doesn’t want to talk to you right now” moons eyes grow large in shock,some how he seems surprised by his own words.
~~~~~
Soon as he’s able moon begins shifting through all the losses files, sorting out tangled strands of code, and closing an application that can be before long everything is at least neat which doesn’t mean much as far but it at least a little easier to think,
Moon then turns his attention outwards to see y/n working on something, he sits and watches them work for a little bit before they freeze, and turn to acknowledge him.
“Moon” the nighttime animatronic nods in response
“Sure friend” moon mumbles not even paying attention
Before long they continued with “Alright, that didn’t seem to go quite to plan, could you run a quick diagnostics for me”
As moon starts the diagnostics he can hear Sun grumbling about something
Finishing the diagnostics, they see one maybe more applications failed to close when they were supposed to, along with brand new files that can be opposed,
“Hmm nothing to bad,”
Sun huffs “let’s let y/n know so we can get out of here moony!”
“Hm, everything’s moved around, I haven’t a clue what half of these files are” moon says for some reason
“Moon!! What ? We didn’t need to mention it” Sun mentally cuts it
“That’s not what I wanted to say”
They both hear the slight apprehension in y/ns voice “What’s that supposed to mean”
“No idea” moon shrugs
Moon hear feel suns deep frown from here
As y/n asks “Alright. How are you feeling” moon can feel sun starting to creep closer to the controls
“Come on moony, this one’s an easy one, I know the correct answer, you know the correct answer, go ahead and say the correct answer, we can still salvage this” sun is starting to sound a little anxious
“I got this sun” moon says as he starts to respond with the answer most every human expects to get when they ask, ‘fine’
“No idea” moon says this and sun does a mental double take
“We just talked about this moony”
“What’s that’s supposed to mean” y/n looks confused
“I don’t know yet” at this sun is yelling
“GAAHH, I can’t with either of you right not, I don’t know if you know but we’ve got a daycare to take care of!! Stop trying to get us started in parts and services!!!” Sun takes a ver digital deep breaths
“I’m not doing anything, I don’t know what’s going on” moon says
“We can talk about this later, smooth things over with y/n so we can get out of here, I don’t really want to talk to them and this exact moment” sun says after he’s calmed down
“Fine, can I talk to sun then” upon hearing y/n say this sun looks to moon and moon looking to sun
“I got this, smooths my middle name”
“Sun doesn’t want to talk to you right now” moons eyes grow large in shock,some how he seems surprised by his own words.
“MOON YOU, YOU TATTLETALE”!!!
Ant this point sputtering both inside and out, face in his hand how this go so bad
Part 1/?
Part 2
Here’s a snippet of writing for @garbagechocolate’s truth virus au,
it’s not betaed and I didn’t actually proofread, so if you see something that needs fixed let me know
F/O Introductions (#27): Sun and Moon
Sun and Moon are animatronics that were originally designed as an acrobatic performer, but after a change in management were instead put in control of the Daycare at the Pizzaplex, a huge arcade/food experience run almost entirely on AI and exhausted employees. The abrupt switch in purpose was rushed: the animatronic’s AI was split in two and haphazardly adapted for a childcare setting. The result was a slightly neurotic animatronic with two separate identities and a whole lot of “quirks,” as the software team would kindly put it. (Source: Five Nights At Freddy’s: Security Breach)
Echo was hired as the Daycare Assistant after the last one quit, and was pretty happy to take on the job. They know nothing practically about AI or how the animatronics work, so it’s all a great show of magic to them. They packbond immediately with every single animatronic in the area, even the ones that haven’t been given personality chips, like the cleaning robots and mapbots. But they are absolutely determined to do their best by the Daycare, and that means understanding and helping Sun and Moon with their jobs.
Earlier Daycare Assistants had come in with more of a tech background, and tended to treat the job as mainly troubleshooting Sun and Moon. Echo, on the other hand, focused primarily on the kids and on helping Sun and Moon with their tasks, treating them more like coworkers than anything else, and learning their limits and preferences. It went well and the Pizzaplex called it a job well done, leaving Echo to it even as things start to break apart bit by bit.
Fic comms open!
Hi! I'm minionsdevil on AO3 and I'm opening fic commissions to help with vet care plus usual expenses with my dogs. I'll talk more about the whys and hows of this under the cut (it's long, like, SO long).
You can read more about the commissions here, and if you're brazilian or speak portuguese, I talk extensively about my fics and financial struggles we've been going through on bsky.
All of the details are on ko-fi and the carrd website.
What's happening: me and my fiancée (ex fiancée? currently kinda divorcing but only kinda, fiancée?) have been living together for three years and most of them have been a financial struggle because even when we're in good jobs we're in debt from when we weren't.
Around a year after we started living together I got a good job, around the same time we adopted Luna (the caramel dog in the pics below - we already had Sally, the black and white one). Home office, which was awesome. It started paying R$500 (like... USD $90) per month, which you must know it's NOTHING, but I got raises frequently and around may-june this year we were making with both our incomes R$ 6-7k (USD $ 1k - 1.2k) which, for brazilians it's a good - not rich, but good - income.
The thing is that we were working for my uncle.
It was abusive work, I worked about 14 nonstop hours most days, almost never had days off and even when I did I was working through them to deliver in impossible deadlines, he was always breathing down my neck as if I didn't do enough, and I know I work hard, do whatever I can AND can't to deliver stunning results and was severly underpaid (I worked like, 5 different roles - from marketing to CAD projects to software development to party planning to... whatever was on his mind, really).
BOTH of us were working for him. She left a governmental teaching assistant career to work for him on the promise that we would make more money. We kind of were, for like, a month. But she regretted very much leaving the guaranteed (you can't ever be laid off of governmental jobs here - unless you commit crimes) source of income she had. It was kind of an impulsive decision, but yeah, we did that.
We moved cities to work on site because he insisted we had to be there IMMEDIATELY after his offer to do our new job assignments (I was promoted to project manager - my job continued to be online only and it made no sense but there I was). This moving resulted in expenses that, according to law, since the BOSS insisted we moved for work, were meant to be paid by him. They weren't. We had to ask for a R$ 10k loan to deal with the moving, the break of lease contract we had, etc, that we never paid a single cent back because we became unemployed almost immediately after that. We moved away from my family (her family is already living far), we have no help, both our families are also financially fucked up.
He laid me off when I refused to work on what was already assigned as my day off for the FIRST TIME EVER. I never refused work, but I was SEVERELY burnt out, it was my brother's birthday, and it WAS my assigned day off. He laid me off through her, didn't even talk to me directly, so she quit to avoid going through that as well. Here in Brazil we have awesome laws about employment and I was owed compensation for that, but alas. I had to beg for my worked days of the month, imagine compensation for the layoff.
While all of that was happening we were spending a LOT with vet care for Luna, plus daycare (expensive as FUCK, mind you) because she has health issues that she literally can't be left alone. She has some kind of allergic issue that we have been trying a bunch of different treatments, paid for vet house visits, all kinds of expensive meds - and nothing works. We were also scammed in the meantime and generally dumb with our money.
So we became unemployed while our accounts were (still are, but worse) literally negative. We have been living off of credit cards and loans and now no bank will give us any loans or credit limits because we exceeded everything and haven't paid back. So yeah, we're thoroughly fucked.
Amanda, my (ex??????) fiancée is working with my cousin now, but is paid very little, and I am also working with my cousin, her husband and a college friend on website development projects - but I haven't had a single project paid yet. Just to be clear, Amanda makes R$ 1.5k monthly and our rent is almost R$ 1.3k. I make, with no guarantees, about R$1.2k. Just Luna and Sally's food is R$600 monthly, but also their meds, vitamins, ointments to keep Luna from literally scratching her skin off, is about R$600 more. What's left for the bills (R$ minimum 400), college (which I CAN'T drop off of unless I want to be unemployed forever, and it costs R$200) and our food (we used to spend about R$800 on that when we could)? What about our meds, when we need psychiatric treatment and I have a bunch of uterus problems? R$200 for all of that? It's literally not enough.
All of that did a huge fucking number on our mental health, especially in mine as I was already severly depressed, always has been, and never managed to take care of it properly, so I became kind of... dead? Literally dead inside. Only coping through hyperfixating on iwtv, lol. Which is fun and all but doesn't fix shit. It affected our relationship and now we're kind of breaking up, perhaps temporarily until we take care of ourselves individually, perhaps not.
You can see how that's a lot going on.
So yeah, I literally haven't been in the rightest of minds to deal in creative work, but I have no way out - I have to open commissions to afford their food, meds and hopefully!!!! take them to a vet. Sally also has her problems, although they haven't been as much of an emergency as Luna's, like her teeth literally falling out from their roots. Luna scratches herself until she bleeds and we have to stay 24h breathing down her neck to stop her from that and from trying to kill Sally - which we think she does because she's terribly irritated with her allergies.
POINT IS, sorry for the bible, but like, we're so fucked. So if you can share this, if you know someone who'd pay for a cute little fic of their otp, and in the future (I'm returning to practice drawing) art commissions as well, please, share! I also accept donations as specified on the Carrd I made for this. I will report back on what I spend the money on if you want. And if you want to commission feel free to reach out wherever, here or bsky or directly on ko-fi! Rules are on the carrd.
Here are the babies that will be helped:
Okay that’s it time for some headcanons to get these blorbos under control, and also bc it might help with writing them in the future:
Tumblr media
Sun
Sun is the featured personality when the ambient light around him is over a certain threshold for at least a few seconds. He is very aware of Moon, and while management often categorizes them as one animatronic, most employees and customers instead refer to them as two distinct characters. Sun also shares a memory with Moon, though he describes it less as being out of control of his body and more like watching a summary of events when he eventually takes control back, sometimes forcibly.
Though Sun adores kids, he can and does get severely anxious and overstimulated by them; this happens rarely, though multiple animatronic software engineers have yet to find a reason why—if he’s programmed to be a caretaker, how can he get overwhelmed by his primary duty? Regardless, Sun is often able to get through a full day of glitter glue and screaming by retreating to his room above the daycare, or if he’s particularly desperate he will try to let Moon take control, though this is even rarer still.
Sun is extremely expressive and bouncy, and several people have joked that if he was tied to a chair then he wouldn’t be able to talk at all; he makes large gestures with his hands almost constantly, though nobody is certain if that’s simply a happy accident of his childcare programming or if he’s just like that—the kids love him regardless. He’ll often jump about or the sunray spines on his head will spin about when he’s excited about something. Because of this, Sun is an atrocious liar (not that he likes lying in the first place)
Both Sun and Moon are incredibly flexible and acrobatic, but Sun does his best to keep any ‘unnatural’ motion or twisting around to a minimum—it frightens the children, or so he has decided, so most of his body language is relatively natural.
Moon
Similar to Sun, Moon is given control over their body when the ambient light is very low for at least several seconds, though the shift can sometimes take up to a full minute. Single points of light—such as a flashlight—does not inherently make him change back into Sun. It is painful however, as his eyes are carefully attuned to seeing in the darkness when he is physically switched over, perhaps even having a form of heat-sensitive vision that his maintenance workers have alluded to a few times.
In very rare circumstances Moon can be out when the space around him is fully lit; this however requires Sun to willingly allow him control and for Moon to focus very hard on not letting his body automatically shift back. This has only occurred on one occasion and is considered a bug in their system.
While often characterized as ‘evil’ or ‘mean’, Moon genuinely cares for his wards and for Sun as well—he is simply less bright and outspoken than his sunny counterpart. He loves to play jokes and cause various sorts of trouble that rarely bring harm to anyone. His most favorite activity is chasing the children around the daycare like a monster, but recent complaints by parents have restricted the time that the daycare isn’t lit during business hours. (The kids themselves love him though, several calling him endearing nicknames despite Moon’s grumbling)
Hilariously, Moon is incredibly good with neurodivergent children. Whether this is a purposeful part of his subroutines or not is anyone’s guess, but he does know when to draw a line with his shenanigans and is often a huge comfort to kids who are overstimulated, overwhelmed or needing comfort some someone who isn’t as high-energy as Sun is.
Moon, just like Sun, has the flexibility to contort his animatronic body into very unnatural angles, and he often uses this to his delight when scaring the kids (or the daycare employees on occasion). He is quite fond of scaling the jungle gyms like a spider, and is more than capable of twisting his body through openings that seem way too small for a seven-odd foot tall animatronic like himself.
Eclipse
Technically, Eclipse is not normally supposed to be encountered in day-to-day activities. He is first and foremost a subsystem safe mode, either in times of extreme danger towards himself or his wards in the daycare, or if he is suffering a system meltdown in some way and needs to do a hard reboot to fix it. He is so internalized in fact that Sun and Moon aren’t even aware that he is part of them—maybe deep down they can guess that there’s something else between their two personality matrices, but they wouldn’t be able to say much for sure.
On the flip side, Eclipse is aware of Sun and Moon’s presence, but he doesn’t share their memories or knowledge outside what is strictly allowed in his coding.
Since he is a designated safe mode and the combination of Sun and Moon’s code playing out in tandem, Eclipse is very sweet and soft-spoken; this is reportedly to help with keeping those around him calm, namely the children that would be nearby in the case of a crisis. But do not for a moment mistake that gentle demeanor as weakness—if he registers a threat within a certain range, he can and will remove it by any means necessary.
Any. Means. Necessary. There is a reason why most employees consider the daycare to be one of the safest places within the Pizzaplex, though management won’t comment either way in order to avoid misunderstood fear from parents that use the childcare service.
When in Eclipse mode, light and darkness don’t really have an effect on him, though he has described that there is a slight internal shifting within his chassis that is vaguely uncomfortable, though he doesn’t quite know why.
A lot of thoughts. Because I went job hunting instead of writing, and I'm beginning to think I'm a bigger failure than I ever realized.
I... have no degrees. No experience. Just a high school diploma. No trade school. No classes. I've worked retail previously (cashier as well as sales associate working with planograms to fill store shelves), but not even two collective years total. I volunteered a few times in high school at a daycare through a high school program, and I volunteered for two semesters at a dog rescue. I'm currently multitasking at a dog grooming salon. I answer phones, book appointments, log inventory, sell inventory, clean. And I'll be adding some baking assistant duties to that soon, tho I did help a little bit today in-between the other duties. (We make dog-safe treats in-house at one of our locations. I work at two different locations.) My other experience is related to writing, crocheting, etc. I spent most of my life focusing on writing. I am not actually good with using software like Microsoft Word or Scrivener. I just use them to write. I have to google how to do certain things with them all the time, often repeatedly, because... I just can't seem to retain the knowledge. I can figure a few things out on my own, but I suck at it. At work, I'm really bad at sometimes processing what people try to say, particularly on the phone. I'm a little... slow. I can do it, but if I were at a place that didn't have an understanding boss, I'd be pretty fucked and likely fired. (I'm nice, but oh god, people please stop giving your phone numbers and spelling of your names SO FAST. GO SLOW. I'm STUPID.) I'm easily overwhelmed even with my relatively slow-paced job, which has enough free time for me to draw and read and do a lot of things completely unrelated to my job. I'm learning as I go, and I don't think I'm TERRIBLE, but I certainly do wish I could be better at it. I don't want to work around customers outside of this particular job. I can't go back to full retail. Fuck that so much. Unless it's a cool indie bookstore or something? FYI, I like my job, I just can't survive on it, and it just doesn't pay enough for me. I also can only work about 3 days a week, I've tried 4 and it's killing me, so it's probably a good thing that my temporary 4 days was temporary. Especially when I'm going to be doing assistant baking closer to the holidays. I'm just... terrible at this life thing. How did I get so close to 40 and just fail this fucking hard? I know my parents weren't supportive of college or trade school or anything, really, and that everything I ever mentioned was thrown out. I know I have physical (and probably mental) disabilities. Everything I know - all that writing that people praise? It's self-taught. I took 5 years to complete high school, and I only managed to do it in that time because I had to go to summer school. I did well if I had a lot of help from teachers, but I couldn't do it without that. (I ended up going to an alternative high school where teachers could provide that one-on-one learning.) I think I write fantastic books. My mind is such a creative place, and I have such complex characters. I have a good grasp of writing topics like abuse. But what kind of specialty is that? I can't survive. I want to give up. I haven't yet, and I've done everything to try harder in the circumstances I'm facing, and... it's doing nothing. It's going nowhere. I'm so fucking unlovable and stupid.
Title: Strengths & Weaknesses – My Journey as a Microbusiness Owner
Starting a microbusiness is an exciting challenge, and through this journey, I am eager to explore my strengths and overcome my weaknesses. My business idea—creating personalized storybooks for children—aligns with my passion for early childhood education and creativity.
My Strengths:
Creativity & Storytelling – I love crafting engaging and meaningful stories for children, making each book special and personalized.
Experience with Kids – Working in daycare and studying to become an RECE has given me insight into what engages young minds.
Attention to Detail – Customizing each book to a child's name and interests requires precision, and I enjoy ensuring everything is just right.
Basic Design & Writing Skills – While I’m not a professional illustrator, I can use simple tools like Canva or free illustrations to design attractive pages.
Time Management – Balancing work, studies, and this project will be a challenge, but my structured routine will help me stay organized.
My Weaknesses:
Marketing & Sales Skills – I have little experience in selling products, so I need to learn how to promote my books effectively.
Pricing & Profitability – Since this is a microbusiness, I need to ensure I price my books affordably while covering printing costs.
Technical Skills – I may need to explore user-friendly publishing software or platforms to streamline the creation process.
So i came up with another DCA AU.
In short before the virus hit the pizza plex FazCo got bought out in a hostile corporate takeover.
The pizza plex is shut down and demolished (for killer robot in the basement reasons)
The glamrocks along with a recovered and repaired Bonnie continue doing the same music they always have there brand staying largely the same thought hey are moved from the plex to being an actual touring band
DJMM is sent out to DJ for clubs
Our dear sweet Daycare Attendant however is split into three bodies. one for Sun one for Moon and one for Eclipse. The new bodies are designed to be not only incredibly good looking but optimized to play music. There new boss seeing an opportunity has them learn music like humans rather then programing them then has them write there own songs with a fair bit of creative freedom as long as they can fit the bill of the Emo revival band there boss dictates.
However there new boss did not expect them to be good at this, there new boss did not expect them to have fun with this. They did not expect songs from the heart about how these pore robots have had there heart broken again and again.
And now there new boss has a hell of a band to manage and they are raking in the dough.
On the other side Sun Moon and Eclipse are suddenly granted not just a lot of creative freedom but a lot of freedom in general with the expectation of acting like any normal music stars.
The focus of the story would be on the DCA and probably will not have a Y/N.
focusing instead on how they change as people. When instead of being trapped and monitored and constantly told what to at risk of being tazed or scraped, they are given not only a lot more freedom but also privilege as they get more popular as a band.
Also the band name "Cry me the Stars" in very emo fashion as they where being put together as an emo revival band.
They are built on the same base moddle being largely human in the frame and face but there faces are a bit rounder and they all still have that iconic split down the middle though now they do have noses. they have claws on there fingers but they are guitar pick shaped and fully retractable. They stand about 6'7''
Sun is yellow in color pallet with orange star shaped freckles here and there on his arms and face. blue eyes and a set of interchangeable silicon rays he can move much like before. Singing voice: Alto with a fair bit of range into soprano Instruments: Electric & Acoustic guitar, later to branch out into brass instruments such as trumpet and saxophone Personality shift: eager to please, anxious, and fun loving -> cocky, demanding, party boy, knows for the most part he is in charge.
Moon is blue in color with silver ascents. Freckles are silver and star shaped only a few on the face. eyes are still red. Has ultra thin LED rope as hair that goes down past his shoulders. he can control the light and color and how they turn off and on. Singing Voice: tenner to alto Instruments: Electric Bass later branching out into string instruments such as cello and violin. Personality shift: not talkative, enjoys scarring people, actually a rather soft guy -> Out going, gets calmer, focuses in hard on the music.
Eclipse gets a mix of both designs with both the hair at a shorter length (to the shoulder) and rays (only 4) divided in half with a fade between blue and yellow and lots of star shaped freckles that are orange or silver based on if they are on the yellow or blue side. singing voice: Alto with some range into tenner and soprano Instruments: Drums, Synth, guys going to later go crazy with mixing software. Personality shift: mostly running off base daycare programing so extra sweet and joyful -> Total fucking diva
I'm going to try to write this as a fic i need something less combat oriented then Old Habits Die Hard.
I think im going to name the fic after there band Cry me the Stars.
But for the AU im thinking of just calling it ether "My Chemical Robot" or "Celestial Emo Bois"
If anyone has like emo song recs for feeding this fic please put them in the reblogs!!
Install Free Childcare Management Software to Simplify Operations and Enhance Parent Satisfaction!
In recent years, free childcare management software has grown in popularity because it gives parents and childcare providers quick and simple ways to oversee and manage their kids' activities.
Tumblr media
These applications provide a practical means of monitoring child and family data, centre staff, and financial information with their state-of-the-art dashboards and comprehensive reports.
They provide a safe method of managing waiting lists and enrolling data and can be accessed online or through a childcare check in app.
Centre directors and managers can automate the majority of business procedures at their facility with the help of dependable applications' childcare software platforms.
Additionally, while still necessary, the daycare check-in software makes daycare centre management less time-consuming and tiresome.
How Can Teachers Benefit from Childcare Apps?
Software for childcare learning and documentation has completely changed how daycare facilities run their businesses. These apps make it simple for teachers to make and distribute lesson plans, monitor students' progress, and have real-time conversations with parents.
These applications facilitate the learning process and make it simple for educators to provide each student with the individualised attention they require.
Monitoring the children's development is one of the main advantages of childcare learning and documentation software. Data like attendance records, areas of strength and weakness, and milestones reached are all easily input by teachers.
Furthermore, these applications facilitate parents' involvement in their children's education. Through the app, parents may see pictures and videos of their child's activities, get real-time progress updates, and get in touch with teachers.
The ability of childcare learning and documentation software to streamline the documentation process is another important benefit. Teachers may quickly document learning results and observations, which other educators, parents, or regulatory agencies can access.
Overall, daycare and childcare institutes must use a recognised childcare software that has completely changed how childcare facilities run. These apps facilitate learning and simplify paperwork for educators and parents, enabling a more open and cooperative approach to child care.
Data Security in Adult Day Care Software: What You Need to Know | myEZcare
In an era where technology is deeply integrated into every aspect of business operations, data security has become a paramount concern, especially in fields like adult day care. As providers of adult daycare solutions increasingly turn to digital tools, ensuring the safety of sensitive information is critical. This is where robust adult daycare software becomes indispensable.
Adult day care software plays a crucial role in managing daily operations, tracking client information, and facilitating communication between caregivers and families. With the transition from traditional paper-based systems to sophisticated digital platforms, the security of this data is a significant consideration. Cloud-based adult daycare software, in particular, offers numerous advantages, including accessibility and scalability, but it also necessitates a rigorous approach to data protection.
Why Data Security is Critical
Adult day care centers handle sensitive information, including personal health records, emergency contacts, and financial details. A breach of this data not only compromises privacy but can also lead to financial and legal repercussions. Ensuring that your adult day care software adheres to stringent security standards is essential to safeguarding this information.
Choosing the Best Adult Daycare Software
When selecting the best adult daycare software for your needs, several factors must be considered:
Encryption: Look for adult daycare solutions that employ strong encryption methods both for data at rest and in transit. Encryption ensures that even if unauthorized parties gain access to the data, it remains unreadable.
Access Controls: The software should provide robust access control mechanisms. This includes role-based access, where different users have access only to the information necessary for their roles, minimizing the risk of internal breaches.
Regular Updates and Patching: The best adult daycare software providers regularly update their systems to address potential vulnerabilities. Ensure that the software you choose is maintained with up-to-date security patches.
Compliance: Ensure that the adult daycare software complies with relevant data protection regulations such as HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) in the U.S. Compliance indicates that the software meets industry standards for data security.
Backup and Recovery: Cloud-based adult daycare software should include reliable backup and recovery solutions. Regular backups protect against data loss due to system failures or other unforeseen issues.
Benefits of Cloud-Based Solutions
Cloud-based adult daycare software offers flexibility and ease of access, allowing authorized users to securely log in from various locations. However, this convenience also means that the software provider must have robust security measures in place to protect data stored off-site.
Conclusion
Investing in adult day care software is a significant step toward modernizing your operations. However, it’s crucial to prioritize data security when choosing a solution. By selecting software that emphasizes encryption, access controls, regular updates, compliance, and reliable backup options, you can ensure that your data remains secure and your operations run smoothly. The best adult daycare software will not only meet your operational needs but also provide peace of mind regarding the safety of your sensitive information.
