Classroom Strategies to Support Emotional Development in Children
Did you know that supporting emotional development in children is just as important as fostering their cognitive development? It’s true! Research has shown that emotional intelligence is a strong predictor of future success and happiness. So, as educators, it’s vital to implement effective classroom strategies that support children’s emotional development.
But where do you start? In this article, we will explore classroom strategies that can help support emotional development in children. From creating a safe and inclusive environment to promoting self-regulation and empathy, we will cover it all. We will also delve into the importance of understanding children’s emotions and how to foster healthy emotional expression.
Importance of emotional development in kids in early years
Emotional development in kids during the early years of their life is crucial for their overall well-being and success in life.
Here are five reasons why emotional development is so important during this time:
Helps in building relationships: During the early years, children are learning how to build relationships with others. By developing emotional intelligence, they are better equipped to communicate effectively, form strong bonds, and work together with others.
Helps in developing empathy: Empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of others. By learning to recognize and understand their own emotions, children are better able to develop empathy for others, which is essential for building positive relationships.
Helps in handling stress: Emotional development helps children learn how to handle stress and regulate their emotions. This is a crucial life skill that will help them cope with challenges and setbacks in the future.
Helps in achieving academic success: Research has shown that children who receive social-emotional support during their early years tend to achieve better academic outcomes. Emotional development helps children develop the skills they need to succeed in school and beyond.
Helps in achieving lifelong success: Emotional development is not just important for success in the early years, but it also sets children up for a lifetime of success and happiness. By prioritizing emotional development during this critical period, we can help children develop the skills they need to thrive in all areas of their lives.
An educator’s strategy for teaching social-emotional skills plays a vital role in a child’s well-rounded and balanced education. To achieve this, teachers must be attentive to the unique needs of each child and tailor their lessons and interventions accordingly.
Here’s how educators can support emotional development in children:
Be a caring listener for every child As a teacher, your presence and attention can be a source of confidence for a child dealing with difficult life circumstances. Providing positive attention is crucial for their self-image and development. It is essential to guide them as you build their trust, letting them know that you are there to help. Some learners may require additional support to feel self-assured and secure. Therefore, it is crucial to ensure that the learning environment is responsive to their social and emotional needs. By doing so, you can create a safe and supportive space that fosters growth and development.
Boosting emotional literacy Enhancing emotional literacy involves developing skills to recognize, understand, and express emotions in a positive and healthy manner. Children who do not learn how to use emotional language may struggle with identifying and labeling their own feelings, as well as understanding and empathizing with the emotions of others. Teaching emotional literacy to children is crucial in building their self-esteem, self-confidence, and emotional self-regulation skills. Here are some strategies that can be employed to enhance emotional literacy in every child:
Label and exemplify different emotions, including both positive and negative ones. Emphasize the importance of understanding and expressing emotions, and teach children appropriate ways of doing so.
Teach children how to recognize their own emotions as well as the emotions of others. Provide scenarios and encourage them to describe how they would feel in those situations.
Validate children’s emotions and create a safe space for them to express their feelings. Offer your full attention and reassurance.
Provide children with coping strategies to manage anger or upset, such as using a stress ball, playing with playdough, engaging in physical activities like jumping jacks, writing letters, or jumping on a trampoline. These strategies can help children calm down and provide a healthy outlet for their unpleasant emotions.
Foster meaningful connections Friendship skills are important for children to develop as they learn how to interact and work with others. Friendships provide opportunities for children to practice sharing, cooperation, taking turns, and resolving conflicts. Here are some ways to help children develop their friendship skills:
Set a good example by modeling appropriate friendship skills in your interactions with children and other adults.
Plan activities that specifically teach friendship skills, such as helping others, sharing, waiting for one’s turn, and working as a team.
Encourage and acknowledge positive behavior when children work together and help each other. Encourage other children to do the same.
Implement a buddy system where children support and collaborate with each other. For example, if a child is struggling with a particular subject, assign a peer who is knowledgeable in that subject to work with them.
Provide opportunities for children to work in groups, where they can learn to negotiate with their peers, develop leadership skills, and contribute their strengths to the group.
Recognizing emotions in ourselves and others Empathy entails the ability to recognize and comprehend the situations and emotions of others. It involves being attuned to the feelings of others and responding appropriately. When teaching children about empathy, it is essential to help them develop the skills to differentiate between their own emotions and those of others. Cultivating empathy is crucial in nurturing children’s emotional literacy. As an educator, you can support students in becoming more mindful of their own emotions and using that awareness to understand others in the following ways:
Model and reinforce various behaviors related to empathy.
Engage in activities that highlight similarities and differences among individuals to illustrate interconnectedness and individuality.
Encourage students to be observant of how their peers are feeling and provide opportunities for them to check in on each other.
Activities such as role-playing and role reversals can teach children how to empathize by putting themselves in others’ shoes.
Fostering problem-solving abilities Problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills are critical for children’s social-emotional development. When faced with challenges, it’s important to teach children how to manage the situation effectively and find solutions. This can help reduce impulsive behavior or aggression. Consider the following strategies for developing children’s problem-solving skills:
Identify the problem: Encourage children to vocalize the issue they are facing. Simply stating the problem out loud can often make a significant difference for a child who is feeling stuck or overwhelmed.
Foster critical thinking: Allow children to think and generate multiple solutions to common classroom challenges. Brainstorming should be encouraged, even if ideas may seem silly or far-fetched.
Recognize and provide feedback: Acknowledge and praise children who demonstrate good problem-solving skills. Positive reinforcement can reinforce and encourage further development of these skills.
Teach about consequences: Help children understand that every solution has consequences, both positive and negative. Role-playing activities can be used as a tool to illustrate this concept and deepen their understanding.
In conclusion, developing emotional and social skills in children is essential for their academic and personal success. By incorporating a childcare software like KinderPass into your teaching practice, it can help you be more efficient with your administrative duties and thus more effective in creating a supportive and engaging learning environment that helps children thrive socially, emotionally, and academically.

So the tire-eating potholes in my neighborhood finally killed both my rear tires and I had to get that dealt with, but while they were getting replaced, I put the dogs in puppy daycare and upon picking them up early, the attendant literally sprinted to the front desk, grabbed me by the shoulders and breathlessly exclaimed "YOUNEEDTOCOMESEEWHATYOURDOGSAREDOING"
While she escorted me back to the play yards, she explained that every time they have more than three Corgi, they have to put all the Corgs in a separate play yard because they turn into a little gang and bully the Very Large dogs by playing Cow Herding Simulator 5000 with them, and especially if Herschel is there, because corgis are bossy-pants dogs, and Herschel has the bossiest pants of them all and acts as leader.
Despite being a little Don Corgleone to the short bitch mafia, Hershcel is also a Huge Baby and will apparently cry and cry and try to climb the fence and cry and eat people's shoelaces and cry if he is separated from Charlie during playtime, so this means any time that "Corgi Party" is happening, Charlie also has to go to Corgi party, despite being full-height, running cat software and a senior citizen. he copes with being Gulliver amongst the Liliputians by climbing onto the roof of the playskool castle they have for a climbing structure in the yard, kicking the ladder down behind him, and stretching out to nap in the sun while the corgi frolic and gambol around him.
Corgi are dogs that make up and play games with secret rules, like kindergartners. "Everyone bark in sync" is a popular game, as is "follow the leader" and it's companion game "March in a circle around a tall structure like ants caught in a death loop".
So what I was greeted with, when the attendant and I snuck out to the play yard, was the sight of Charlie, sound asleep and flat on his back with his paws crossed over his chest because sighthounds sleep in the stupidest fucking positions, on top of a faux-medieval castle with gargoyles on the corners, surrounded by approximately seven Corgi, all trotting in a circle around him, barking in sync.
"They look like they're preforming some kind of ritual!" giggled the attendant as attempted to get my phone to focus.
"Yeah, they're gonna summon Corgtulhu." I said.
Unfortunately, this made the attendant literally fall on her ass laughing, and distracted Herschel and his compatriots, so they didn't get to complete the summons, and I didn't get the pic.
The attendant kept laughing because apparently she's new to puns, and had mostly gotten it under control by the time we got everyone's leashes on and back out to the front.
The manager was watching the front desk, bemused. Did you get to see them doing the ritual?"
"YEAH!" shrieks the attendant, still excitable with merriment. "THEY'RE- THEY WERE-" The attendant ends up giggling on the floor.
"You okay there Katie?" asked the manager with minimal concern.
"We think they were trying to summon Corgthulhu." I eplain, and Katie screams from the floor. "Wasn't gonna work though, you need a virgin sacrifice and Charlie had an STD when we got him."
It was the manager's turn to shriek. and for Charlie and Herschel to start barking in solidarity.
"That's right Charlie! Your sluttiness saved the world!" I told him, as he jumped up and kicked me in the face.
Anyway, that's why Charlie's nickname at daycare is now "Superman(whore)"

I just wanted to say I am so enamoured with Binary Insurgence! I eat up everything, every little crumb, you drop about it and the entire idea is so interesting to me! I'm so in love with stories and worlds like this! I'm also curious to know about the relationship between Sun and Moon, if it's alright to ask. How was it before the fire compared to after? Does their relationship begin to mend (because I'm certain over the years it deteriorated) when y/n comes back into the picture? If any of this is too spoilery or you just haven't fleshed it out yet then you don't have to answer! I'm just super curious about the boys and how you see their dynamic/relationship. I just look forward to seeing how their bond has grown and/or broken and how it may be mended over time.
AHH im glad you like it so much!! Im happy to talk about what i've got, but you are right not everything is fully fleshed out. I have points i wanna get to but while im brainstorming and planning i make up a lot of stuff as i go and then go over it again later to see if i like it or can connect stuff in any way. I have 3 chapters for Arc 1 fully summarized as of now! (Which probably doesn't seem like a lot but i like my chapters long, so it's quite a bit actually).
I wanna say, too, that i'm planning for the first story to be more in the perspective of the reader, so most things about Sun and Moon's personal thoughts and feelings are gonna be more implied than said. I might have some switching points of view, i'm not sure, but i haven't found a place i'd do it or think it's relevant. The sequel is gonna be more from their perspective since it'll mostly be about them.
NOW! I see Sun and Moon as brothers, so they really treat each other in a way that's like that. Before the fire they get along pretty well. Most instances of issue would be when Moon blocks out Sun when he fronts, or just mutual panic over the fact Moon lost his shit w/ the virus. They'll have their disagreements about things (i havent planned specifics yet) but generally they're chill. Sun just worries about Moon hurting people, but Moon worries too. With the way the virus functions in this AU it's hard for Sun to fully fault Moon for what he does, especially because he's also affected by it but not nearly as bad. (I'm gonna explain this more in another ask i have).
Plus, even before the virus they were always glitch/bug-ridden because technicians fucked up their programming continuously after removing them from the theater to work in the daycare. So they had to kinda navigate through that together, glitches and errors on both ends (though not deadly). They hate P&S bc of this, obviously. Hardware fixes suck but they fucking HATE software examinations.
Later on though some issues come into play whenever Sun starts getting worse by being further exposed to the virus (it gets worse for him when they eclipse) because it presents itself in Sun differently than it does Moon. He gets snappier and angrier at times (that comic i made that's captioned "well someones snappy") and while they both understand he doesnt mean the shit he does it's still not great. And nobody's gonna just let themselves be talked to like a dog even if the reason it's happening is because of something the other person can't really help. They're still relatively fine at this point, though.
It's at the end when shit goes really bad, because this part of the story does end badly. I won't spoil specifics but after the fire Sun loses his shit. He starts trying to put the blame on Moon for everything (the virus enhancing his already bad habits/fucking with his line of thinking) out of grief and anger. That carries over into the apocalypse and he just gets worse in general. He gets irrational.
It's a long period of time though, so he eventually also manages it, in his own way. But! I did say before in an ask that in the sequel he's "not evil, persay, but he's a fucking nut". He damns Moon to an hourglass to just fucking get rid of him about 100~ years before they meet you again (he fully thinks he's in the right for this (and he also just hates him) and the only reason he really even stayed around after that was to make sure Moon didn't get out again). He's not a bad-intentioned individual, but he's off the fucking wall at many times bc of the virus having made him worse. He's stubborn as all hell to an infuriating degree, he's irrational, hard-headed, reckless, and while a good bit of his old, kinder self is still pretty prevalent he can be downright fucking mean if provoked. Again, worse than before, and it doesn't take much these days! I always imagined him to have more dramatic, snappy, diva aspects to his personality (even before Help Wanted 2 came out) bc hes so theatrical and intense, so basically take a Sun that's like that, crank it up to 100 and put him in a Bad Situation. That's what Round 2 Sun is like at his worst. He's not a complete lost cause though, and he's far from dumb when he does stuff, just clouded by his own judgement. He doesn't think anything's wrong with him (or does he?).
Moon doesn't really hate him like Sun hates Moon, because although he knows that what happened (the ending of the first story) is technically both of their faults he just feels guilt. They do fight a lot, though. Most of it is Moon trying his best to tell Sun that he's basically full of shit and not seeing things right after Sun starts something, but Sun's at the point where he's gotta learn by consequence. Part of the reason he's so bad is bc 1: hes been infected by the virus for so long now and 2: in his grief, anger, and resentment he's learned to live with it rather than fighting it.
But the sequel is gonna be a feel-good story! Falling in love w/ the reader all over again, i want things to get cleared up - or at least some kind of middle ground between Sun and Moon - the whole sha-bang.

(the rest of) a bit of writing for Garbagechocolate's Truth virus AU
“Um…Friendo, I don’t, I don’t know how I feel about this” sun says from with the pizzaplex parts and service animatronic repair station™️. Having relized shortly after the repair station patented paralysis kicked in, that they may not be as on board with this idea as they thought they were
From with in there shared operating system, moon let’s out what might have been a deep exhausted sigh if either of the had lungs,
“Gasp! What? final come to your senses about randomly downloading software because ‘it’ll be cool’” moon mocks
“In my defense starlight seemed so excited, what was I suppose to say moony” sun says back from with in the OS
“.. the truth”
That’s when they both hear their repair specialist Y/N call back “Did you two says something” from From somewhere beyond their current scope of vision they can hear here it sounds pretty muffled, after a bit they seem to poke their head back into view.
“Nothing starlight!” Sun hurries out with a grin
At this moon huffs
“Oh, um.. ah, actually…moon? Has um a few concerns, about this download” sun stutters out
“ oh don’t you two fret, Minecraft is a completely passive program, and this version should be a hundred percent compatible with your operating systems” y/n finishes with a thumbs up
“Oh”
“Yeah, so are you two ready?”
Sunny can feel moon doing the equivalent of slowing shaking his head from further back in the code
“Ready when you are, starlight!”
At that y/n starts the download, from here they can hear the faint loading chimes the main Control panel emits,
"...Alright....there we are,... downloads started, shouldn't take all night ,but it may take a bit" y/n says as they turn their gaze from the screen in front of them to the currently immobil daycare attendent, sat within the repair station, in the depth of parts and service.
"how are you two holding up?" y/n asks after a bit, breaking the relative silence, of the subterranean room
“Just peachy starlight!” sun said without thinking, and while it wasn’t a total lie, it wasn’t exactly true either, over the years the daycare attendant has had countless updates to their software and operating systems and while the uploading process is slightly different each time, they know what to expect by now, they know enough to know that something feels off about this.
“Sun. No, you feel it to” moon says, his voice coming through over the rising buzz of an ever growing number of binary strings as the files enter their operating system and make their selves at home, burrowing in and warping the applications around it to its managed tasks.
“Moony, I’am sure it’s fine, starlights checked everything over, they say it’s compatible, sure the download feels a little funky, but am sure its nothing”
“This doesn’t feel like nothing, Sun”
“How would you know we only ever get new security and health protocols these days” punctuated with a mental pout “ this is a game moony!! We’ve never got a game before, of course it’s going to feel different!”
“Listen, theres reasons we’ve never directly downloaded games before, do you ever know if you can run the game after getting it? ‘Compatible’ doesn’t mean usable” moon snaps back
“Well if you gonna be a spoil sport, we can uninstall if it doesn’t work, happy”
At this moon mumble something Sun can quite hear over the new application own internal humming.
Upon realizing this conversation with his darker half has come to a momentary halt, Sun turns his attention back to their code, by now he’s having l a bit of trouble ignoring the itchy squirming feeling these files leave him with.
Sun goes to voice this concerns with there trusted technician… only to find that he can’t
moon let’s out a sound of exasperation, that can nearly be heard over the rumbling and buzzing of the code “tell y/n to pause this”
“…moony…I can’t, the controls are stuck”
“Let me see” moon says as he wrench control from sun, to see the interior controls are currently unavailable.
“What’d you do Sun?”
“ME! I didn’t do anything”
“The OS dosent just freeze like this on its own, and one download shouldn’t be enough to shut us down, what else is running” moons is growing noticeably more frustrated
While they continue to attempt troubleshootin, moon turns his attention outwards, now noticing that y/n may have been talking to them this entire time pacing back and forth for who knows how long.
“-portant you guys let me know, alright?” Y/n finished as they come to a stop in front of the glass cylinder, looking towards the still anamatronic expectantly.
“…right? …guys?” Y/n finish before concern starts to creep in
~~~~~
The daycare attendants have been uncharacteristically quiet, it has been a solid 15 minutes since they have lasted talked, I didn’t think much of it until there LEDs began to switch through a few settings before dimming completely.
At this point I am significantly more that a little worried, I fear, no I am certain that the altered version of Minecraft, that I suggest is causing this. I can’t just stop the download that is the first and most important thing they tell any engineer or technician that works here, that stopping mid upload or download or backup will cause irreparable damage to any and all of the bot under the faz co brand.
This is when it occurs to me that the most helpful I can do right now is, nothing, I’ve done enough damage already and any action I take now may just drawl this out or make it worse,
So instead of bolting to the console and running through every debugging program I can think of I sit, in the cheat plastic of the rolling chair sat by the console, and watch keeping vigil over the subterranean room and it’s robotic occupants.
~~~~~
“Oh. Hello” a metallic voice say, breaking the silence that’s settled over the room,
I jump a little, sorry to say I may have been zoning out as the hours of nothing stretched on, then spin around to see how bad I’ve goofed things up.
“Hey, your back” I say as I try and guess, who I might be talking to, usually it pretty clear which ai is fronting, if not by there appearance than there ‘voice’
This doesn’t seem to be the case right now, whoever just spoke is currently lacking Sun usually expressive lilt and Moons more taunting almost breathy inflection.
It seem like I might be I am be hearing there shared ‘base’ voice, this may mean they are still sorting themselves out, so while they finish ‘loading’ for lack of a better term, I turn my attention back towards to console to seem is I can gleam anything from the download stats.
After a bit of searching I think I come across the problem, while the application in question was compatible with the main operating system, it wasn’t nearly as compatible with the central processors of the attendances AI, and it seemed to have spawned new files in response. I can’t see see what they do from here, but this can wait,
In the computer screens reflection I can just barely see moon, sit up in the center of the repair station glowing red eyes fixed on me, I take a few deep breaths before turning to face the music.
“Moon” I say in acknowledgement, he simply nods back
“Alright, that didn’t seem to go quite to plan, could you run a quick diagnostics for me”
“Sure friend” moon responds in a surprisingly chipper manner, I try not to freeze up and being called a friend, I’ve worked alongside the daycare attendant for a while, and I’ve even talked with my predecessors on a few occasions, this first time I’ve ever heard of the night themed animatronic giving anyone this moniker, i try not to dwell or draw attention to this.
As I am getting ready to pull the nighttime attentions diagnostics stats up on my faz pad, he chimes in.
“Hm, everything’s moved around, I haven’t a clue what half of these files are” moon let’s me know, which it a bit suspicious, neither ai Is usual this forthcoming with there ailments, for whatever reason it usually takes more pestering to get this kinda information information.
“…what?” I blink in surprise, I am a little lost at whatever moons playing at
“There’s at least one background application running that doing something” he shrugs
“What’s that supposed to mean”
“No idea” he kinda shrugs again
“Alright. How are you feeling”
“No idea”
“What’s that’s supposed to mean”
“I don’t know yet” moon starts to look like he zooming out
“Fine, can I talk to sun then” I say try not to grit my teeth
“Sun doesn’t want to talk to you right now” moons eyes grow large in shock,some how he seems surprised by his own words.
~~~~~
Soon as he’s able moon begins shifting through all the losses files, sorting out tangled strands of code, and closing an application that can be before long everything is at least neat which doesn’t mean much as far but it at least a little easier to think,
Moon then turns his attention outwards to see y/n working on something, he sits and watches them work for a little bit before they freeze, and turn to acknowledge him.
“Moon” the nighttime animatronic nods in response
“Sure friend” moon mumbles not even paying attention
Before long they continued with “Alright, that didn’t seem to go quite to plan, could you run a quick diagnostics for me”
As moon starts the diagnostics he can hear Sun grumbling about something
Finishing the diagnostics, they see one maybe more applications failed to close when they were supposed to, along with brand new files that can be opposed,
“Hmm nothing to bad,”
Sun huffs “let’s let y/n know so we can get out of here moony!”
“Hm, everything’s moved around, I haven’t a clue what half of these files are” moon says for some reason
“Moon!! What ? We didn’t need to mention it” Sun mentally cuts it
“That’s not what I wanted to say”
They both hear the slight apprehension in y/ns voice “What’s that supposed to mean”
“No idea” moon shrugs
Moon hear feel suns deep frown from here
As y/n asks “Alright. How are you feeling” moon can feel sun starting to creep closer to the controls
“Come on moony, this one’s an easy one, I know the correct answer, you know the correct answer, go ahead and say the correct answer, we can still salvage this” sun is starting to sound a little anxious
“I got this sun” moon says as he starts to respond with the answer most every human expects to get when they ask, ‘fine’
“No idea” moon says this and sun does a mental double take
“We just talked about this moony”
“What’s that’s supposed to mean” y/n looks confused
“I don’t know yet” at this sun is yelling
“GAAHH, I can’t with either of you right not, I don’t know if you know but we’ve got a daycare to take care of!! Stop trying to get us started in parts and services!!!” Sun takes a ver digital deep breaths
“I’m not doing anything, I don’t know what’s going on” moon says
“We can talk about this later, smooth things over with y/n so we can get out of here, I don’t really want to talk to them and this exact moment” sun says after he’s calmed down
“Fine, can I talk to sun then” upon hearing y/n say this sun looks to moon and moon looking to sun
“I got this, smooths my middle name”
“Sun doesn’t want to talk to you right now” moons eyes grow large in shock,some how he seems surprised by his own words.
“MOON YOU, YOU TATTLETALE”!!!
Ant this point sputtering both inside and out, face in his hand how this go so bad
Fic comms open!
Hi! I'm minionsdevil on AO3 and I'm opening fic commissions to help with vet care plus usual expenses with my dogs. I'll talk more about the whys and hows of this under the cut (it's long, like, SO long).
You can read more about the commissions here, and if you're brazilian or speak portuguese, I talk extensively about my fics and financial struggles we've been going through on bsky.
All of the details are on ko-fi and the carrd website.
What's happening: me and my fiancée (ex fiancée? currently kinda divorcing but only kinda, fiancée?) have been living together for three years and most of them have been a financial struggle because even when we're in good jobs we're in debt from when we weren't.
Around a year after we started living together I got a good job, around the same time we adopted Luna (the caramel dog in the pics below - we already had Sally, the black and white one). Home office, which was awesome. It started paying R$500 (like... USD $90) per month, which you must know it's NOTHING, but I got raises frequently and around may-june this year we were making with both our incomes R$ 6-7k (USD $ 1k - 1.2k) which, for brazilians it's a good - not rich, but good - income.
The thing is that we were working for my uncle.
It was abusive work, I worked about 14 nonstop hours most days, almost never had days off and even when I did I was working through them to deliver in impossible deadlines, he was always breathing down my neck as if I didn't do enough, and I know I work hard, do whatever I can AND can't to deliver stunning results and was severly underpaid (I worked like, 5 different roles - from marketing to CAD projects to software development to party planning to... whatever was on his mind, really).
BOTH of us were working for him. She left a governmental teaching assistant career to work for him on the promise that we would make more money. We kind of were, for like, a month. But she regretted very much leaving the guaranteed (you can't ever be laid off of governmental jobs here - unless you commit crimes) source of income she had. It was kind of an impulsive decision, but yeah, we did that.
We moved cities to work on site because he insisted we had to be there IMMEDIATELY after his offer to do our new job assignments (I was promoted to project manager - my job continued to be online only and it made no sense but there I was). This moving resulted in expenses that, according to law, since the BOSS insisted we moved for work, were meant to be paid by him. They weren't. We had to ask for a R$ 10k loan to deal with the moving, the break of lease contract we had, etc, that we never paid a single cent back because we became unemployed almost immediately after that. We moved away from my family (her family is already living far), we have no help, both our families are also financially fucked up.
He laid me off when I refused to work on what was already assigned as my day off for the FIRST TIME EVER. I never refused work, but I was SEVERELY burnt out, it was my brother's birthday, and it WAS my assigned day off. He laid me off through her, didn't even talk to me directly, so she quit to avoid going through that as well. Here in Brazil we have awesome laws about employment and I was owed compensation for that, but alas. I had to beg for my worked days of the month, imagine compensation for the layoff.
While all of that was happening we were spending a LOT with vet care for Luna, plus daycare (expensive as FUCK, mind you) because she has health issues that she literally can't be left alone. She has some kind of allergic issue that we have been trying a bunch of different treatments, paid for vet house visits, all kinds of expensive meds - and nothing works. We were also scammed in the meantime and generally dumb with our money.
So we became unemployed while our accounts were (still are, but worse) literally negative. We have been living off of credit cards and loans and now no bank will give us any loans or credit limits because we exceeded everything and haven't paid back. So yeah, we're thoroughly fucked.
Amanda, my (ex??????) fiancée is working with my cousin now, but is paid very little, and I am also working with my cousin, her husband and a college friend on website development projects - but I haven't had a single project paid yet. Just to be clear, Amanda makes R$ 1.5k monthly and our rent is almost R$ 1.3k. I make, with no guarantees, about R$1.2k. Just Luna and Sally's food is R$600 monthly, but also their meds, vitamins, ointments to keep Luna from literally scratching her skin off, is about R$600 more. What's left for the bills (R$ minimum 400), college (which I CAN'T drop off of unless I want to be unemployed forever, and it costs R$200) and our food (we used to spend about R$800 on that when we could)? What about our meds, when we need psychiatric treatment and I have a bunch of uterus problems? R$200 for all of that? It's literally not enough.
All of that did a huge fucking number on our mental health, especially in mine as I was already severly depressed, always has been, and never managed to take care of it properly, so I became kind of... dead? Literally dead inside. Only coping through hyperfixating on iwtv, lol. Which is fun and all but doesn't fix shit. It affected our relationship and now we're kind of breaking up, perhaps temporarily until we take care of ourselves individually, perhaps not.
You can see how that's a lot going on.
So yeah, I literally haven't been in the rightest of minds to deal in creative work, but I have no way out - I have to open commissions to afford their food, meds and hopefully!!!! take them to a vet. Sally also has her problems, although they haven't been as much of an emergency as Luna's, like her teeth literally falling out from their roots. Luna scratches herself until she bleeds and we have to stay 24h breathing down her neck to stop her from that and from trying to kill Sally - which we think she does because she's terribly irritated with her allergies.
POINT IS, sorry for the bible, but like, we're so fucked. So if you can share this, if you know someone who'd pay for a cute little fic of their otp, and in the future (I'm returning to practice drawing) art commissions as well, please, share! I also accept donations as specified on the Carrd I made for this. I will report back on what I spend the money on if you want. And if you want to commission feel free to reach out wherever, here or bsky or directly on ko-fi! Rules are on the carrd.
Here are the babies that will be helped:
They're literally the loves of my life and we're trying really hard to take proper care of them, but life has been a b#tch.
Thank you for reading if you got here! <3
Okay that’s it time for some headcanons to get these blorbos under control, and also bc it might help with writing them in the future:
Sun
Sun is the featured personality when the ambient light around him is over a certain threshold for at least a few seconds. He is very aware of Moon, and while management often categorizes them as one animatronic, most employees and customers instead refer to them as two distinct characters. Sun also shares a memory with Moon, though he describes it less as being out of control of his body and more like watching a summary of events when he eventually takes control back, sometimes forcibly.
Though Sun adores kids, he can and does get severely anxious and overstimulated by them; this happens rarely, though multiple animatronic software engineers have yet to find a reason why—if he’s programmed to be a caretaker, how can he get overwhelmed by his primary duty? Regardless, Sun is often able to get through a full day of glitter glue and screaming by retreating to his room above the daycare, or if he’s particularly desperate he will try to let Moon take control, though this is even rarer still.
Sun is extremely expressive and bouncy, and several people have joked that if he was tied to a chair then he wouldn’t be able to talk at all; he makes large gestures with his hands almost constantly, though nobody is certain if that’s simply a happy accident of his childcare programming or if he’s just like that—the kids love him regardless. He’ll often jump about or the sunray spines on his head will spin about when he’s excited about something. Because of this, Sun is an atrocious liar (not that he likes lying in the first place)
Both Sun and Moon are incredibly flexible and acrobatic, but Sun does his best to keep any ‘unnatural’ motion or twisting around to a minimum—it frightens the children, or so he has decided, so most of his body language is relatively natural.
Moon
Similar to Sun, Moon is given control over their body when the ambient light is very low for at least several seconds, though the shift can sometimes take up to a full minute. Single points of light—such as a flashlight—does not inherently make him change back into Sun. It is painful however, as his eyes are carefully attuned to seeing in the darkness when he is physically switched over, perhaps even having a form of heat-sensitive vision that his maintenance workers have alluded to a few times.
In very rare circumstances Moon can be out when the space around him is fully lit; this however requires Sun to willingly allow him control and for Moon to focus very hard on not letting his body automatically shift back. This has only occurred on one occasion and is considered a bug in their system.
While often characterized as ‘evil’ or ‘mean’, Moon genuinely cares for his wards and for Sun as well—he is simply less bright and outspoken than his sunny counterpart. He loves to play jokes and cause various sorts of trouble that rarely bring harm to anyone. His most favorite activity is chasing the children around the daycare like a monster, but recent complaints by parents have restricted the time that the daycare isn’t lit during business hours. (The kids themselves love him though, several calling him endearing nicknames despite Moon’s grumbling)
Hilariously, Moon is incredibly good with neurodivergent children. Whether this is a purposeful part of his subroutines or not is anyone’s guess, but he does know when to draw a line with his shenanigans and is often a huge comfort to kids who are overstimulated, overwhelmed or needing comfort some someone who isn’t as high-energy as Sun is.
Moon, just like Sun, has the flexibility to contort his animatronic body into very unnatural angles, and he often uses this to his delight when scaring the kids (or the daycare employees on occasion). He is quite fond of scaling the jungle gyms like a spider, and is more than capable of twisting his body through openings that seem way too small for a seven-odd foot tall animatronic like himself.
Eclipse
Technically, Eclipse is not normally supposed to be encountered in day-to-day activities. He is first and foremost a subsystem safe mode, either in times of extreme danger towards himself or his wards in the daycare, or if he is suffering a system meltdown in some way and needs to do a hard reboot to fix it. He is so internalized in fact that Sun and Moon aren’t even aware that he is part of them—maybe deep down they can guess that there’s something else between their two personality matrices, but they wouldn’t be able to say much for sure.
On the flip side, Eclipse is aware of Sun and Moon’s presence, but he doesn’t share their memories or knowledge outside what is strictly allowed in his coding.
Since he is a designated safe mode and the combination of Sun and Moon’s code playing out in tandem, Eclipse is very sweet and soft-spoken; this is reportedly to help with keeping those around him calm, namely the children that would be nearby in the case of a crisis. But do not for a moment mistake that gentle demeanor as weakness—if he registers a threat within a certain range, he can and will remove it by any means necessary.
Any. Means. Necessary. There is a reason why most employees consider the daycare to be one of the safest places within the Pizzaplex, though management won’t comment either way in order to avoid misunderstood fear from parents that use the childcare service.
When in Eclipse mode, light and darkness don’t really have an effect on him, though he has described that there is a slight internal shifting within his chassis that is vaguely uncomfortable, though he doesn’t quite know why.
A lot of thoughts. Because I went job hunting instead of writing, and I'm beginning to think I'm a bigger failure than I ever realized.
I... have no degrees. No experience. Just a high school diploma. No trade school. No classes. I've worked retail previously (cashier as well as sales associate working with planograms to fill store shelves), but not even two collective years total. I volunteered a few times in high school at a daycare through a high school program, and I volunteered for two semesters at a dog rescue. I'm currently multitasking at a dog grooming salon. I answer phones, book appointments, log inventory, sell inventory, clean. And I'll be adding some baking assistant duties to that soon, tho I did help a little bit today in-between the other duties. (We make dog-safe treats in-house at one of our locations. I work at two different locations.) My other experience is related to writing, crocheting, etc. I spent most of my life focusing on writing. I am not actually good with using software like Microsoft Word or Scrivener. I just use them to write. I have to google how to do certain things with them all the time, often repeatedly, because... I just can't seem to retain the knowledge. I can figure a few things out on my own, but I suck at it. At work, I'm really bad at sometimes processing what people try to say, particularly on the phone. I'm a little... slow. I can do it, but if I were at a place that didn't have an understanding boss, I'd be pretty fucked and likely fired. (I'm nice, but oh god, people please stop giving your phone numbers and spelling of your names SO FAST. GO SLOW. I'm STUPID.) I'm easily overwhelmed even with my relatively slow-paced job, which has enough free time for me to draw and read and do a lot of things completely unrelated to my job. I'm learning as I go, and I don't think I'm TERRIBLE, but I certainly do wish I could be better at it. I don't want to work around customers outside of this particular job. I can't go back to full retail. Fuck that so much. Unless it's a cool indie bookstore or something? FYI, I like my job, I just can't survive on it, and it just doesn't pay enough for me. I also can only work about 3 days a week, I've tried 4 and it's killing me, so it's probably a good thing that my temporary 4 days was temporary. Especially when I'm going to be doing assistant baking closer to the holidays. I'm just... terrible at this life thing. How did I get so close to 40 and just fail this fucking hard? I know my parents weren't supportive of college or trade school or anything, really, and that everything I ever mentioned was thrown out. I know I have physical (and probably mental) disabilities. Everything I know - all that writing that people praise? It's self-taught. I took 5 years to complete high school, and I only managed to do it in that time because I had to go to summer school. I did well if I had a lot of help from teachers, but I couldn't do it without that. (I ended up going to an alternative high school where teachers could provide that one-on-one learning.) I think I write fantastic books. My mind is such a creative place, and I have such complex characters. I have a good grasp of writing topics like abuse. But what kind of specialty is that? I can't survive. I want to give up. I haven't yet, and I've done everything to try harder in the circumstances I'm facing, and... it's doing nothing. It's going nowhere. I'm so fucking unlovable and stupid.
So i came up with another DCA AU.
In short before the virus hit the pizza plex FazCo got bought out in a hostile corporate takeover.
The pizza plex is shut down and demolished (for killer robot in the basement reasons)
The glamrocks along with a recovered and repaired Bonnie continue doing the same music they always have there brand staying largely the same thought hey are moved from the plex to being an actual touring band
DJMM is sent out to DJ for clubs
Our dear sweet Daycare Attendant however is split into three bodies. one for Sun one for Moon and one for Eclipse. The new bodies are designed to be not only incredibly good looking but optimized to play music. There new boss seeing an opportunity has them learn music like humans rather then programing them then has them write there own songs with a fair bit of creative freedom as long as they can fit the bill of the Emo revival band there boss dictates.
However there new boss did not expect them to be good at this, there new boss did not expect them to have fun with this. They did not expect songs from the heart about how these pore robots have had there heart broken again and again.
And now there new boss has a hell of a band to manage and they are raking in the dough.
On the other side Sun Moon and Eclipse are suddenly granted not just a lot of creative freedom but a lot of freedom in general with the expectation of acting like any normal music stars.
The focus of the story would be on the DCA and probably will not have a Y/N.
focusing instead on how they change as people. When instead of being trapped and monitored and constantly told what to at risk of being tazed or scraped, they are given not only a lot more freedom but also privilege as they get more popular as a band.
Also the band name "Cry me the Stars" in very emo fashion as they where being put together as an emo revival band.
They are built on the same base moddle being largely human in the frame and face but there faces are a bit rounder and they all still have that iconic split down the middle though now they do have noses. they have claws on there fingers but they are guitar pick shaped and fully retractable. They stand about 6'7''
Sun is yellow in color pallet with orange star shaped freckles here and there on his arms and face. blue eyes and a set of interchangeable silicon rays he can move much like before. Singing voice: Alto with a fair bit of range into soprano Instruments: Electric & Acoustic guitar, later to branch out into brass instruments such as trumpet and saxophone Personality shift: eager to please, anxious, and fun loving -> cocky, demanding, party boy, knows for the most part he is in charge.
Moon is blue in color with silver ascents. Freckles are silver and star shaped only a few on the face. eyes are still red. Has ultra thin LED rope as hair that goes down past his shoulders. he can control the light and color and how they turn off and on. Singing Voice: tenner to alto Instruments: Electric Bass later branching out into string instruments such as cello and violin. Personality shift: not talkative, enjoys scarring people, actually a rather soft guy -> Out going, gets calmer, focuses in hard on the music.
Eclipse gets a mix of both designs with both the hair at a shorter length (to the shoulder) and rays (only 4) divided in half with a fade between blue and yellow and lots of star shaped freckles that are orange or silver based on if they are on the yellow or blue side. singing voice: Alto with some range into tenner and soprano Instruments: Drums, Synth, guys going to later go crazy with mixing software. Personality shift: mostly running off base daycare programing so extra sweet and joyful -> Total fucking diva
I'm going to try to write this as a fic i need something less combat oriented then Old Habits Die Hard.
I think im going to name the fic after there band Cry me the Stars.
But for the AU im thinking of just calling it ether "My Chemical Robot" or "Celestial Emo Bois"
If anyone has like emo song recs for feeding this fic please put them in the reblogs!!
Difficulties Part 1
I usually keep pretty well to Austen or British literature of the last century, but as Jane Austen is very concerned with the plight of women, I wanted to share two small things that happened to me, that impress upon me the difficulty living in the world as a woman.
I had a job that I really loved at a university in Canada. I was unionized, had unlimited sick days, medical benefits, paid time off, a pension, and reasonable compensation. After about two years at this job I left for maternity leave, which in my country was 1 year at half pay. I was worried however, because my department had a nasty habit of laying off women during mat leave. This would usually be illegal, but research work is all based on grants and contracts, so it can happen more easily in my field than in others.
I was anxious about going back to work, but at the 10 month mark my boss emailed and asked if I could come back early. I agreed, partially because I was bored but also because I was worried I might lose my position if I didn’t go back. So I went back 3 days a week (I had actually started at this job 3 days a week and moved to five over time) and my son went to a great little home daycare. I made it clear to my manager that as I had a 2 hours a day commute, I didn’t want to work more days. I thought she would understand as she had also worked part time when she had young children.
2 months in, I was laid off. I was only 2 months away from my contract becoming permanent, something that happened automatically after 3 years. I also had worked so few hours that it was impossible for me to collect employment insurance. It turned out they just wanted me to cover a three month leave of another staff member.
Now I feel I must justify myself, I was good at my job. When the news got around, I was approached by several people I had worked with who offered themselves as references. One person even swore when she realized she’d have to train someone new on the complicated medical software that I had mastered (just ask a nurse or doctor how user friendly their medical records program is...). Even though they were not required to, many of the doctors I worked with still included my name on their published research papers.
Anyway, we were in a terrible position as a family. My husband and I had just purchased a new house, since my job had seemed secure. I fortunately had about a month’s vacation pay as a buffer, but that was it. My daycare graciously let me take my son out until I found another job, if I had lost my space it would have been worse. I desperately applied for jobs and eventually accepted one with the same employer that was not unionized.
I lost my pension, sick days, medical benefits, and paid vacation and was only given about 2 dollars more an hour in this new job. I never would have accepted it if I hadn’t been so desperate.
And the worst part is, the people who did this to me were all women. My manager and supervisor were both women. And they didn’t care. The one even seemed surprised that I was angry at the final meeting. She said it was best for the projects. I highly doubt it.
Anyway, this is my little proof that having a uterus and being a mother who wants to spend time with her child still can destroy your career and that you can’t rely on the compassion or humanity of your superiors.
Note: Why do I need medical benefits? I live in Canada, but we have a strange form of universal healthcare that covers all hospital and doctor visits, but not eye, dental, most therapy/mental health care or most medication. So for a person my age at the time, the most commonly covered would be things like birth control, glasses, dental visits, and physiotherapy.
And yes, this creates problems were someone with say, type two diabetes can’t afford their very cheap meds and instead ends up in the ER frequently which is super expensive. We have plans where if you are poor enough you get free medication but it’s a mess and honestly they need to fix it.
#this was before COVID btw so work from home wasn't big yet#difficulties#we clearly haven't fixed all the problems yet#at least it is clear to me#feminism#personal stuff#of which there is very little on this blog
Was writing a connor fic, my bad this is late
Oogly Boogly, @outlandishscenarios !! I was your secret Santa all along mwuhahahah
Happy new year, haha (im very sorry)
Beforehand; they are separate. Oh, and you smuggled them in your home.
Walmart was a wonderful place. Especially as the holidays were in full swing, and the formidable climb of high quality clothes, it was a haven of cheap thrills and a retreat for both the poor and the wealthy. A cultural center in the whole of America built on an infrastructure meant to appeal to the primitive brain, complete with just the right setup to convince us into purchasing more products- to the advertisements to persuade our subconscious minds. But all this had led to this one pivotal moment.
You hadn't thought that much of Walmart before the moment you met eyes with the Sun and Moon themed pajamas. You were just going to be in and out that day- collecting some necessities and some not, but something glittery and yellow had caught your eye and something itched inside of you to walk over to it like a magnet. And oh, were you happy about it.
You had bought the massively oversized pajamas with him specifically in mind. Bright yellow and orange in color- a fuzzy mess of sequins you knew would make an absolute mess of your washing machine; but it was far that worth it to watch him bounce from one leg to the other in surprise and elation at the gift. Just to hear the tinkling lilt of grateful happiness spilling from his voice box was a gift enough. You had known him long enough to know the differences in pitch he held in his voice- there was a clear change from real happiness, and the happiness he was programmed to portray.
“Oh, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you Y/N!” His long arms cocooned around your midriff tightly, swinging you around in dizzying circles. You wished you could get out the few syllables needed to respond in affirmative- if food didn't threaten to chase your words.
Moon was more moody, to keep it in one word. He enjoyed the things he was related to- the moon and stars and galaxy. He would idly chatter about how he admired the constellations that glittered in the sky, so firmly put in their respective spaces for generations on end, yet strung in one of the most empty and inhabitable places we know.
He enjoyed lounging in a pair of simple gray sweatpants, paired with an untucked and oversized black tee with painted splatters across it with soft airbrushing of cool toned colors to simulate the look of a pulsing galaxy. He didn't accept the gift with the same excitement as Sun did- but instead disappeared behind a corner quietly as Sun was given his comfy clothes, and in a haste put it on, stepping back into the conversation with the clothes situated neatly on his body like nothing happened at all. It was his own way of saying 'Thank you'.
“It’s snowing pretty hard outside.” He remarked, reassuming his seat on the couch bordering the window of your living room, with the utmost casualty. Edgy boy.
It was a goal far beforehand- from the very first time you found out who the daycare attendants really were behind all the paint and glitter glue and angst, to bring as much light to their life as they would allow you. Seeing firsthand how deeply they could not only feel- but scar- made you want to shower them with as much love and compassion as you possibly could.
Naturally, you smuggle two lanky animatronics out of their respective positions, and into your home. You had backup, of course. As long as you did not damage the animatronics or take them permanently, the software and repair manager, (who, frankly, might be some kind of drug dealer) gave you the green light.
Much to your delight, you discovered each one of their interests one by one.
Moon enjoyed scrapbooking. Just doing little things with his hands- gluing bits of paper together and the satisfying intricacies of stationary and ink. He enjoyed finding little pretty things, whether it be petite flowers pressed between the pages of a book for a long while- or the jumbled clippings of magazines he collected here and there. Oddly enough- you hadn't caught him accumulating most of the things he scrapbooked, they just… appeared. But the way his red eyes flickered thoughtfully as he placed pictures and film- slick with glue, carefully onto pages. Almost like he was a surgeon, he treated scrapbooking with frightening accuracy.
Sun, on the other hand, liked plants and flowers. The daycare had no windows, so your little modest house tucked away in a quiet neighborhood was one of the best places he could have been taken. You had purchased a few brightly-colored perennials from the local market earlier on in the year, and helped him plant them in the backyard during the summer.
Summer had since then come and gone, leaving nothing but blankets of snow and shorter days with a reliant chill. It was a wonderful season in terms of snuggling and warm drinks and anything related to affection and warmth, but snowstorms proved to be a great opponent in your quest to cater to your lanky robot boys. Just one nasty storm could knock down your dainty power grid, and ruin all your plans for the day. But Zeus be damned, you'd make the best out of any situation.
Is what you said in your head, but when your light did dim out while your freshly brewed coffee that just began to trickle out of the espresso machine to come to an abrupt halt; you didn't have a damn of what to do.
Zues probably heard you.
A barrage of desperately muffled curses(in order to not trigger sun) jumped freely from your mouth as both the daycare animatronics looked inquisitively at all the lights and lamps now suddenly dark in your living room.
“Hm. But the lights were just all on? Do you also have to shut the lights off to conserve energy?” Sun questioned with a tilt to his head, as you were able to see the red glowing of Moon’s eyes behind him, partially closed and exhausted. He didn't bother to say much, just a low vibrato of a sigh, of irritation or just robot fatigue, you weren't sure.
“Good God! I really can't have anything, can I? Ha, of course the fuckin-”
“Language, sunshine.”
“FREAKING!” Instantaneously, you corrected yourself. It had been so long dealing with these boys that things like Sundrop’s censorship was almost expected every time you let out a swear.
“-Power would go out. How wonderful.” Blindly, you felt yourself tumble through your house to try and find the flashlight you knew you had in a drawer in your credenza, but doing anything frustrated will only turn out to be a hot mess with you.
“Where IS that flashlight?!” Your fingers and arms spread stiffly in front of you to navigate your own house; but you felt a lurch in your stomach as you ankle caught the leg of a couch or a table or a chair- a fall so sudden no noise could escape you- just blown eyes wide in desperation to see and avoid any possible threat. But there was nothing. Just darkness.
But Moon was oh, so familiar with the dark.
He hugged the part of you that was closest to where he was seated, hand snaking around your waist and rib cage, much like the supportive arm a parent would thrust out in case of a sudden brake while driving.
When you look behind you back to where his face is- the half-mast look in his eyes was no longer there. Red LEDs were wide and alert, this time around.
He sighed- but it sounded far more similar to a growl in his voice box “Be careful.” His faceplate was dipped slightly into the crook of your neck- as she had to pull your body towards his slightly heavier body to negate the force of the fall. “And slow down. Stop panicking.” You huffed a laugh, not really humorous at all, and clutched his hand that rested firmly on your stomach.
“Thanks… ‘preciate it, Moonie.”
He only replies with another grunt, Though this one a little softer.
“Jus’ tell me where it's at. I'll get it.”
You felt a tinge flustered, only able to watch his eyes wander down the hallway as you gave vague directions towards where you thought the nearest flashlight was, and when you finally did, his cool metal hand cupped the bottom of yours; his other hand placing the small bit of plastic in your hand.
“M’ sitting back down.” His regards were sent through a slight wave of his hand as he wandered back towards the couch. If he wasn't so close, you'd have been beside yourself in embarrassment.
“Robot boys and their subtle little acts of affection…” You stood and fiddled with the strap attached to the flashlight until the tingling heat subsided from your cheeks.
You flicked the light into the on position, finally lighting ip your carpeted floor. A few ideas of the priorities rooted in your mind as you made your way to the kitchen once again.
Sticking the flashlight in your teeth and rooting through overhead cabinets in your kitchen, you yanked out a coffee percolator from the very back of the shelving. It was heavy and old, something you probably pulled from a thrift or antique shop out of pure curiosity. Couldn't have cost much. Brushing away a mile of dust from it and blindly grabbing a bag of ground coffee- you prepared it as you could faintly remember. Coffee in the little basket-looking thing- water in the bigger container.
Flicking a match to light and twisting the knob to your oven, you lit a front eye on fire. Placing the percolator over the oven, you finally spit the flashlight from in between your teeth out and waited for what seemed like an adequate amount of time for the coffee to accumulate.
"Sunshine?" Slightly high-pitched and kindly, Sun's voice perked up behind you.
"What'cha doing?" Out of the corner of you eye, you dimly saw the outline of a hand rested on the countertop next to your hip. He was right behind you.
"I'm making coffee on the stove since the powers out." You responded simply, placing the light back in your mouth.
"Well, I can do that, sunshine." He tugged lightly at the dangling strap, looking at you with slightly less bright LED eyes as Moons, watching as it fell from your lips.
"How sweet of you!" You traded him an equally soft smile, as his rays spun a little in recognition of the praise.
Your blind grab for mugs resulted in a few mis-matched ones, different in size and color but fine enough for your purposes. The dark and rich liquid spilled from the nozzle into each cup, and you fixed them how you thought they each would like it. Sun’s- milky and overly sweet, closer to creamer than actual coffee you’d assume. And moons, pitch black with only a tad of sugar.
You felt a little bad that they couldn't drink any of it per se, but Sun explained how he liked the way the steam came out of the mug. Moon just enjoyed the feeling of being included. And with his help, you located your hoard of wool blankets in the linen closet to wrap you all in comfortably finding a few scented candles you had never bothered to use and lit them for the dim lighting.
You found a dimpled spot on your couch a little next to Moondrop, and spread the blanket over the length of your arm to cover you both. Sunny boy followed keenly behind, holding his own blanked and finding a nook at the other side of you to properly get comfortable in. All three of you were tied together mostly by one blanket, but with the knots of throws and piled if pillows, one couldn't really tell.
You noticed moon was decently cool to the touch. Like the hand that had caressed you earlier, the metal connecting his limbs were smooth and cold. Not a wet cold that made you shiver, but beneath the heat of the blankets, all you wanted to do was lean closer to him. Like the cooler side of the pillow on a summer night.
But Sundrop was a whole different animal. You thirsted after every drink of warmth he produced. Sun’s fans were like white noise, rested against his chest, a more sustained and softer version of rainfall. Of course he had silicone padding for the safety of the kids- but an extra warm body? Fans whirring inside of him like the gentlest of air conditioners?
You had to fight the sand underneath your eyes to stay in the moment.
But you stayed sandwiched, peppering little kisses on their faceplate every so often, and drawing little reassuring shapes on whatever you could reach with the soft pads of your fingers. Goodness, with the candles and the warmth you were encased in, you weren't sure how long you were going to last. You might as well leave with something, you thought, before you conked out cold on both of them.
Sundrops soft eyes with a graceful light spilling from them.
And Moon with his red, passionate half mast gaze.
"You're both so pretty." You tucked yourself further into the blanket, sleep fogging your brain intensely with the certainty of death.
What was there ever really to worry about?
You fell asleep without an answer.
New management AU ramblings
DJ Music Man is a character I had a lot of ideas to cycle through. At the time I'd first seen you AU, I'd seen a few headcanon posts that their body wasn't a Fazbear Entertainment original, but had been purchased from an original creator and been given a new shell and hardware/software for his DJ Music Man life. He would have had mechanical issues post security breach and, with him not being a Fazbear model to start and with the animatronics in charge, he would be getting upgraded to a new chassis entirely, and there would need to be some new designs made for his body. Admittedly this was due to a lack of ideas of what to do with the character.
Now, however I'm seeing him as something of a confident to the other animatronics. While he is technically "mute" the DJ communicates via I.M. and since he was mostly removed from the events of the breach, he doesn't have much idea about the conflict. There would be several points in the story where Freddy, Chica, Roxy, and Monty would wind up talking with DJMM about the events if Security breach and the story. Freddy would be dealing with some of the stresses of being management with the human staff putting him up on a pedestal (more on this later) and the band members wanting little to do with him. He's feeling guilt over what choices he made during that night (more later) and he constantly is having to second guess himself with management choices he has to make.
Chica would confide to DJ about her anger over how her friends got injured, even about how Freddy had been torn apart. Vannesa had confessed about being under mind control after they'd originally been fixed (only the original possession, Vanny hadn't started haunting Vannesa yet) Chica believed her (all of them did), but she's still angry at Vannesa for her part in everything, but she doesn't act on it. Gregory she's angry at for hurting both Roxy and Monty, and she doesn't understand why they aren't angry about it. Freddy she's mad at due to those aforementioned choices from that night, especially when she realized Freddy was equipped with their parts.
When Monty winds up visiting, it's either just news about what's going on outside the west arcade or just venting about arguments with the other animatronics.
Roxy doesn't usually vent to the DJ, but when she winds up in the arcade one night, she does vent about how she doesn't know how to deal with the secrets she needs to keep in regards to being part of the security system of the plex. (She does slip that Bonnie was on the system too, but clams up. Dj doesn't pry)
Later in the fic, Once Gregory winds up getting over his fear of the Animatronic Arachnid of Abnormal size, he (escorted by Monty( felt like he couldn't talk about it with Freddy there) ) winds up talking about that night, and what lead to decommissioning Monty and Roxy. (DJMM realizes the red flags waving about the E-mails eventually, but almost too late to warn anyone.)
This scene came to me recently;
Roxanne in her green room after a performance, the Plex is still closed to the general public, but the some of the staff still use the daycare, and why not let their kids see the performances(the majority of the plex is still hard off limits). Roxy is going through her confidence routine, though she's more going through the motions because she's got bigger things occupying her mind ( her flaking friendship with Chica, Monty's advice with her anger, the weight of the secrets she carries regarding Bonnie and the mimic), frustrated she grumbles to herself about things distracting her, with Chica Wailing harder power chords than normal on her guitar, Monty wrecking his room again(she still hasn't seen the tape recorder setup yet) and the clanging in the vents that keeps getting louder-
Waitaminute.
She only has a moment to step away from the vent before Gregory tumbles out, trying to wrestle a mini music man off of his face. A bewildered moment to gawk at the scene later and Roxy grabs the miniature animatronic like a scruffed cat. She sighs when Gregory tries to hide from her.
"Kid, what the hell are you doing here..."
Gregory had been trying to get to Freddy's green room, since he had at some point lost the photo pass he was unable to walk in the door, plus parts and services was busy so he couldn't use the elevator. When Roxanne asks why didn't Freddy or even Vannessa, he tells her that Freddy has been surrounded by staff doing his manager job, and despite knowing that Vannesa is free of mind control, the two still don't feel comfortable around each other. (blame Vanny for this) after a brief pang of guilt, realizing the kid is practically forced to be alone, she winds up asking about the little animatronic that was doing a frankly terrible job of attacking his face ( getting an offended look from said spider) Gregory tells her that they just have been attacking him whenever he's wandering through the vents since that night. She locks the mini music man in an empty toolbox in the back of her green room for the time being. Roxy figures now is good enough to try to clear the air about the whole decommissioning thing. While there are a few false starts and a bit of yelling, eventually Roxanne does forgive him, and Gregory does apologize, breaking down a bit at being forgiven. He has one request though.
"PLEASE don't tell Cassie I broke you"
Roxanne is taken aback. "Wait, you know Cassie ?"
Gregory relates how the two met on her 11th birthday, and when Roxanne goes back over her memories, she realizes there's a rather literal Gregory-shaped hole in those memories. While she is ungodly pissed at realizing her memories of Cassie had been tampered with, she keeps it down so as not to scare the kid. (The memories of her accusing Gregory of having no friends when Cassie actually is his friend does NOT make this easy for her) "I guess I should apologize for forgetting a friend of someone as amazing as Cassie."
Gregory tries to be slick and ask if that means he's unbanned from the raceway. Hard no from Roxy, but she does explain that its because the Raceway isn't safe in its current state, so no one that isn't construction, maintenence, security or management allowed.
"...is it because of the fire room?"
" The What-now?"
Gregory may still be banned from the Raceway, but he's at least gotten Roxy's forgiveness.
After he's sent on his way, Roxanne has to lay down to process most of the mind shattering revelations that Gregory unwittingly burdened her with. After a moment she calls Freddy to let him know about said fire room, because at least that mess can be his responsibility now.
She pointedly does NOT forget about the animatronic locked in the toolbox. She just doesn't want to deal with it right now.
3/?
I'm genuinely so sorry for me being so slow on this, I completely forgot I had it (ADHD go brrr) so thanks for the reminder buddy! I'll go paragraph by paragraph like I usually do for this
It's interesting to think about how DJ is canonically not a Fazbear animatronic. Gives him an interesting perspective, doesn't it? Love that he's the confidant for everyone. It makes sense, and I love that for him. I'm assuming I.M. stands for Instant Messages here (every acronym like that gains another meaning by the day so I'm never sure anymore), I've not seen him communicate with just that before! I think the general idea for DJ is that he communicates via a sign language which is fun.
I like to think he can also communicate via music - not specifically lyrics and singing - and conveys feelings and intentions rather than sentences, kind of like how animals communicate with each other. It fits in real nicely with all the animalisms stuff I've got going on, and makes it easier to bring Mini Music Men into the conversation, ya know? Text messaging everyone works pretty well too, and I bet it looks real confusing to any techs looking in on conversation history since the others are presumably responding to him verbally, and not through text. They only get half of a conversation from him most of the time lmao
Yeeeaaahhh I get why Chica would have some mixed feelings over Vanessa. She was under mind control the whole time, literally in the same exact boat as the rest of them, but that doesn't change the fact it was still Vanessa's face, Vanessa's voice and Vanessa's gloved hand on the knife. It probably extends to every animatronic since they were all doing stuff under someone else's control, but it probably feels a bit different to what they saw Vanessa doing. She was essentially Patient 0 here, the first one infected and the one to spread the infection. It's bound to be a little bit different for them I think...
Honestly, yeah, Chica's got a good lot of reasons to be angry right now. Maybe even feeling like she's going insane about Roxy and Monty not giving as much of a shit about this as she does too. I bet DJ has had many a Chica Rant from her lately lmao
I know you said Monty vents about arguments with the animatronics, but do you think he and DJ play catch with arcade cabinets too? Just gossiping about what's been going on lately as they toss Fazspace Invaders back and forth between them so they have something to do while they talk... I dunno why that's the first thing I thought of but I can't un-think it now. I love that for them actually lmao they deserve it
As for Roxy talking about her problems to DJ and him not prying... I've been thinking lately that she may have let a few small things slip here and there and there's been a largely collective decision made that the less they know, the better. Like, if Roxy wants to talk about it? Great! But otherwise? They try not to think too hard about it. I mean, it's heavily implied an entire team of construction workers got killed by Mimic, so like... people are straight up disappearing when they're in the Raceway. There's no way she's not gonna be confronted about this at least once, right? She's probably accidentally said some really vague things that can't possibly be anything good, and I dunno I feel like at some point, at least Monty, Chica and DJ are gonna decide not to say anything unless they have to. The less they know, the better. They wanna help, but it's up to Roxy whether they can do that or not, and so, in the mean time, they just have to leave it alone I guess.
Lost my train of thought in that a little bit so I'm not sure that makes the most sense but anyway! Makes sense to me that DJ wouldn't pry! It's clearly stressing Roxy out enough as is without him bringing more attention to her slip ups!
I don't remember what the emails are about or what the red flags you're referring to are. Given the context, I assume these are the logs from the duffelbags, but I'm not sure which ones could be the red flags here. There's not a lot of them that aren't hinting at dead people, the red flags could be any of them at this point lmao
Gfdfsdfds that Mini Music man was like "I'm CHASING you to Roxy and there's not a DAMN THING you can DO ABOUT IT!!!" Little guy is so mad get out of the vents Gregory that's his house >:( lmao love when the Minis Exist
Honestly though, it's fair enough the Minis keep 'attacking' him. He really shouldn't be in those vents. I like to think that at least ten of them have made it their duty to keep people out of the vents for very obvious reasons. Though I also like to think they do silly little dances to make lost kids laugh before leading them back out again so I dunno maybe these ones saw the destruction of Security Breach and thought "fuck this guy in particular"
Oh and the Photopass? You could probably say they're a one time use thing and that's why he can't get into Freddy's room. That would mean kids would have to pay for every photo opportunity in the green rooms and that seems pretty on brand to me. Of course he's always running around doing stuff where he's not meant to be, so Gregory losing it makes complete sense too, it's just a suggestion! He could have a whole bunch of them and keep forgetting to throw them away so now he has to keep scanning a bunch of passes on the door until he finds one that hasn't been scanned before. I feel like he'd start ripping them into teeny tiny pieces pretty quickly not gonna lie lmao anyway
I bet there's a hell of a shouting match between Roxy and Gregory over this. Even if it's to clear the air, Roxy's not the most forgiving and probably not the most tactful or patient either so I bet that goes horribly for at least a little while. Can't say I blame either of them, this is a hell of a situation to be in. I can see him asking for that favour afterwards and Roxy unintentionally looking So Fucking Done With His Shit, ya know?
Pfft love the idea of Roxy being like "... well you can't be that bad if you're friends with someone like Cassie..." but also him mentioning Cassie like this and her suddenly responding like "wait WHAT THE FUCK YOU'RE CASSIE'S GREGORY???? CASSIE'S FRIEND???? THAT GREGORY??????" Like Cassie has probably talked about him at some point and she just never connected the dots here. The realisation hitting her like a fucking steam train lmao
Can definitely see her being beyond pissed off at her memories being tampered with like that. It makes sense now that I think about it that all previous memories of the kid they're supposed to be hunting down would be edited by Glitchtrap. I mean, Glitch probably figured out the hard way that if any of the animatronics had a connection to one of the would-be victims, they'd be significantly harder to control... I guess Roxy's got... Gregnesia...
About the fire room though, I honestly thought you meant the one where you set Burntrap on fire in and not the room that's literally on fire like... right behind the dodgems in the Raceway lmao. I was so confused for a second why she'd tell Freddy about something in Mimic's territory until I remembered that no, there's a room that's just straight up on fire for no fucking reason lmao I dunno maybe it's meant to be like that? Maybe it's Roxy's form of stress relief? Who knows? It's probably just a gameplay thing and not a story thing honestly
But uh. Yeah. She's probably gonna be lying down, staring at the ceiling for a good long while after all that. I mean... how many other kids has she forgotten? What if she'd have lost her memories of Cassie? What else did they not want her to remember? Honestly, not sure if she'd cope with the possibility of losing Cassie's memories very well at all, even if she didn't actually lose them...
Poor Mini is gonna be stuck in that toolbox a while I think lmao
#pop rox answers#new management au#I swear I didn't mean to leave it this long to answer you I love seeing what you've come up with so much#you're just so powerful my brain erased it apparently.
