Clytie fue la última gran obra maestra de #Leighton y quedó inacabada en su estudio en el momento de su muerte. El cuadro representa a la ninfa Clytie, que habiendo sido abandonada por su amante, el dios sol Apolo, pasó sus días mirándolo cruzar el cielo hasta quedar arraigada en la tierra y transformada en flor. Leighton muestra a Clytie con los brazos extendidos para sentir el calor de la luz del sol. La actriz Dorothy Dene posó para la figura de Clytie.

Estudio con #neoclasicista John Gibson. Stebbins se implicó en el movimiento bohemio y #feminista.

La escultura El ángel de las Aguas fue creada para celebrar el saneamiento de las agua del Acueducto Croton y es uno de los trabajos más impresionantes de la escultura americana del siglo XIX.

La obra es fruto de su memoria. En ella los monumentos antiguos del Foro Romano y sus alrededores se funden con la luz que proyecta el #sol al esconderse tras la colina y la emergente #luna.

La paleta de colores y los efectos de la luz son propios de Turner.

Se expuso en la Real Academia junto a una cita de #LordByron
