Thank you @oliviabellapoetry for yet another incredible prompt in #beyondwordsprompts - it was exactly the nudge I needed tonight and I'm thrilled to present #Day75 of the #AYearofPoetry challenge! https://www.instagram.com/p/Cp4PpEfu2BO/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

It’s Day 75 of the Windy Wessagusset Wimple of 2024. The wind was out of the southwest at 6mph with gusts to 19mph at 8am. The temperature was 46° and it felt like 42°. I used the Light Periwinkle color of Red Heart Super Saver yarn to indicate the wind was out of the southwest. I worked my stitches in garter stitch because the wind was at 6mph. Once again I fell asleep and woke up in the wee hours of the morning. So I’ll publish now and head to bed. Sweet dreams. Be safe out there.
Announced today, a number of international events will commemorate the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings of 6th June 1944, and to honour the brave men who were prepared to give their everything for our freedom, and remember those that were lost.
The surviving serviceman who took part in the massive seaborne invasion of Normandy (code name Operation Neptune) are now in their 90's.
I was honoured to meet some of these men at the D-Day75 event at Portsmouth in June 2019. Remarkable people, with some heart-rending stories to tell.
This was an old picture I revisited and fell in love with all over again. I know it seems silly when a jetty is right down the street but it's been a hard day of pain and I am happy with this beautiful choice.
