Vol 1 - Battle of the Boy Bands - Chapter 6/23
This is one of many archived fanfics featuring 1st and 2nd generation K-pop acts that I've come across recently. It's all in good fun, and maybe a bit cringeworthy! Just to clarify, I don't post fanfics, so I hope to the people that post and read K-pop fanfics makes sense. Credits go out to the original creator (hgiel) Anrui, Kyorei, and Jacqui.
*Note: Nothing in their post will change (unless necessary), other than being posted here, and the (Link) will be provided to the page that i found it on.
Characters:
Choi Dongwook (Se7en), Wheesung, Moon Heejoon, Ahn Chilhyun (Kangta), Jae Joong, Yun Ho, Mickey, Max, Xia, Young One, Woo Hyun, UBin, Dong Hwa, Jumin
Chapter 6:
Se7en lead the two teams away from the mud pit and up a steep hill.
"Why the hell do we have to go up here?" Young One barked, trudging up the hill behind his band mates. He accidentally bumped into Hero.
"Get away from me, dick!" Hero screeched, shoving him away so hard that Young One lost his footing and began to roll down the hill.
"You bastard!" Young One cried, his body tumbling over and over all the way to the bottom of the hill.
"That's what you get for throwing us out last night...stupid ass," Yun Ho yelled after Young One. Then, instinctively he wrapped an arm around Hero's waist, pulling him close as if to protect him.
"Wait a minute...what kind of game is this?" Ubin asked. He kept sliding his foot underneath Xiah's in an attempt to trip him whenever he took a step.
"Look bitch..." Xiah finally said, turning around to face Ubin.
"What!?" Ubin asked sarcastically, moving closer to Dong Hwa, who was walking like he had no direction.
"Just stop it, you guys!" Se7en yelled, stopping to turn and face both teams with an angry look on his face. "We aren't doing this for you guys to fight all the damn time, we're doing this for the sake of the fans! Just lighten up a little and get over it!"
"Geez...you'd think he would be a little more hardcore and say "shit" at least..." Micky whispered to Chang Min, who nodded in agreement.
"Okay, here we are," Se7en said, stopping at the top of the hill before anyone else got there. "Hurry the hell up, we haven't got all day...I have to go film my new video you know!"
"Made it!" Jumin exclaimed, giggling in delight as he observed two long tables with the same dish set up in five places on each table. "What is this?" Jumin asked, walking over to the table to stare at the food. "We haven't since yesterday! A-Are you really going to feed us now?"
"Well...I guess you can say that," Se7en replied, looking quite confused. The rest of the group finally joined Jumin and Se7en at the top of the hill, while Young One was still only half way there.
"Are those...cupcakes?!" Woo Hyun shrilled, darting over toward a table. Se7en did a handstand and made a 7 with his legs, then slung a free hand out to grab Woo Hyun's leg. Se7en tightly held Woo Hyun's leg and pulled it backward quickly, and watched Woo Hyun fall flat on his face. Everyone stared as Se7en landed perfectly on his feet, and Woo Hyun began to spit out mouthfuls of grass and dirt.
"Yes, they are cupcakes. 50 cupcakes, for each member, on both teams to be exact! Now this is how the game goes. The first band member to finish their OWN plate of 50 cupcakes on their team, wins. Then we go to the third game. Which will decide who sleeps in the Hilton, and who doesn't." Then, Se7en pointed Dong Bang Shin Gi to their table, and did the same for K'Pop.
"50 cupcakes!? We can't eat 50 of those damn things! We're not girl scouts!" Ubin exclaimed, staring at the cupcakes with wide eyes.
"I want the plate with the purple cupcakes!" Xiah cried, pushing Micky out of the way before he could sit down. Xiah took his seat happily, then the other members took their chosen seats after him. Micky had a plate of yellow cupcakes, while Chang Min had blue ones, Hero had pink ones, and Yun Ho had green ones.
"Why the hell are they all girly colours? Aren't there any chocolate cupcakes?" Micky said, flicking some icing off one of the cupcakes on his plate.
"We coloured them different so you little bastards don't cheat. We wouldn't want you putting cupcakes onto another member's plate so you'll have to eat less. If you do, we will notice the colour difference, and your team will automatically be disqualified!" Se7en said all together in a big gush of air.
"We never cheat!" Chang Min spoke up, glaring at his blue cupcakes.
"Keep telling yourself that. Now-"
"Wait! Why are our cupcakes like theirs, but with these gay little sprinkles all over them!?" Young One said, after reaching his seat only seconds ago.
"Just shut up everyone! This game wasn't created for you to bitch and complain about the color of your fucking cupcakes okay!? Just play the damn game and win or lose!" Se7en fumed, his face turning red. Everyone backed down and sat uncomfortably in their seats. "NOW..." he looked around to make sure everyone was paying attention, "when my assistant says g--"
"READY! SET! GO!" Se7en's assistant and ex-Woo Hyun fan cried. The cameras panned off of her just as she blew a kiss and focused on the both teams.
"Does that mean we start?" Xiah asked. He turned toward Yun Ho, who was already stuffing his face.
"YES! GO!" Micky said from the other end of the table, as he began to shove a handful of cupcakes into his mouth. Xiah took the hint and began to eat as well. Hero just picked at the icing on his cupcakes, but no one cared, they knew he preferred flesh over real food. Dong Hwa hadn't even touched his plate, he was too busy trying to get a stain out of the table cloth by rubbing his own spit into the fabric.
"Damnit, Dong Hwa, leave the table alone and eat!" Young One said, smacking Dong Hwa upside the head.
"Don't hit him!" Ubin cried, kicking Young One in the shin.
"We're gonna lose if he doesn't eat!" Young One retorted, then threw a cupcake at Ubin, hitting him right in the face.
"You asshole!" Ubin screamed, falling back in his chair as he was blinded by icing. Woo Hyun and Jumin had already eaten nearly 10 cupcakes, and were making faces of sickness, although they kept going. Xiah and Chang Min were swallowing them almost whole, not caring at how sick it made them. Micky was already up to 12 cupcakes, and he didn't show any signs of stopping. Yun Ho had conjured up an interesting idea of smashing the cupcakes to make them easier to swallow.
"This is insanity, we are really going to have to edit this entire tape like mad. We have stuff that would make us a lot of money, but would also get us all fired..." Se7en mumbled to himself, watching the side show from a safe distance. His assistant was busy glaring at Woo Hyun, and he saw the hamster wheel of revenge spinning in her head.
"You asshole...I'll kill you..." she whispered, crossing her arms in disgust.
"Um...miss...maybe you had better go survey Ping Bin's progress. If you kill him now, we have no show..." Se7en said, pulling the girl over toward Dong Bang Shin Gi's table. The girl just huffed and sat on the grass next to Xiah, not paying attention to their progress at all. Young One and Ubin had proceeded to beat the crap out of each other on the ground. Their other three band mates kept eating, aware of the fight, but ignoring it out of desire to win. Xiah was close to passing out on his plate as he stared at it with a grossed out look on his face. Yun Ho patted him on the back and told him to keep going, but that was all XIah needed. Suddenly, Xiah's eyes bulged and he turned away from the table and spewed bunches of cupcake and icing everywhere onto the grass.
"YOU SON OF A BITCH!" Woo Hyun's ex fan screamed, shooting up from her seat on the ground. Xiah had apparently pelted her directly with his barf, and she was dripping with it. "DISGUSTING!! I HATE YOU ALL!" she screamed again, grabbing Xiah's hair. She pulled him from his seat and threw him down the hill. Wiping the vomit off her face, and brushing it out of her hair, she made little sounds of disgust.
"Holy shit..." Yun Ho said through a mouthful of cupcakes, "we just lost Xiah...hurry guys!" Xiah hit the bottom of the hill and passed out cold. Jae Joong had proceeded to finally begin nibbling on his first cupcake. Micky was up to his 45th cupcake, and Chang Min was face down on his plate.
"They cheated!" Jumin cried, standing up from his seat as he noticed only 5 cupcakes remaining on Micky's plate.
"Screw you, bitch, I ate all this myself," Micky replied, stuffing his 46th and 47th cupcake into his mouth.
"Bitch!?" Jumin said, darting away from the table as he charged at Micky. Jumin ran head on into Micky, knocking him out of his seat just as he picked up his 48th cupcake to eat it. Ubin and Young One had already rolled halfway down the hill, now bloody from several kicks and punches. Jumin and Micky were now rolling around under Dong Bang Shin Gi's table trying to beat each other to a bloody pulp. Xiah was at the foot of the hill, passed out cold, and stained with his own vomit. Yun Ho was still eating, although rather slowly now. Hero was now waving a cute little 'Go, Go, Yun Ho!' flag he had apparently just pulled out of his ass. Dong Hwa had long since abandoned the game to help Woo Hyun's ex fan to clean the vomit off of her. Woo Hyun was still eating, but at about the same pace as Yun Ho, now. It was apparently just between Yun Ho and Woo Hyun now. Yun Ho was on his 44th cupcake, while Woo Hyun was on his 45th. They both chewed hard, and swallowed even harder, trying desperately to keep from throwing up.
"You're such a pussy! No wonder SM didn't sign you guys onto the label, you're not even REAL men!" Micky screamed, punching at Jumin's face.
"Then how the hell do you explain the cannibalistic, rooster haired, pretty little bitch boy you have in YOUR group!?" Jumin screamed back, unable to dodge the punch.
"I'm super hot, and my fanbase alone is bigger than your entire group's will ever be!" Hero chimed in, without even turning away from his lover, and kept waving his flag.
"That's it...these Ping Pong bitches have pissed me off for the last time!" Se7en said, making a quick call on his cell phone, which was in the shape of a 7. Seconds later, 4 security guards rushed up the hill and they apprehended each of the four fighting members. The contest finally ended when Yun Ho stuffed and quickly swallowed his 50th cupcake, then passed out cold in Hero's lap.
"Yay! My baby won! We won!" Hero shouted happily, cuddling Yun Ho's head.
"THANK GOD!" Se7en yelled loudly to no one but himself, then he blew a little whistle that was also in the shape of a 7--ending the competition. Then, as he took his cue to end the session, Se7en did another handstand and this time he twirled around. As he landed on his feet, he turned to the camera and winked 7 times. "Stay tuned for the next event everyone, right after some words for our sponsor!" As the camera men made it clear they were on a commercial break, Se7en sighed deeply.
"Let me go, you fat ass son of a bitch!" Jumin screamed at the guard, while simultaneously clawing at Micky.
"What do we do with them, boss?" one of the security guards asked.
"We're gonna end this shit now you pussy!" Young One yelled at Ubin. Although, Ubin wasn't even paying attention, he was looking around for Dong Hwa. He noticed that Woo Hyun had passed out, barely breathing, on his plate of 2 cupcakes.
"Get all these bastards to the next game, boys. And...that girl...take her....away....just...take her away. She's too much trouble even for me to handle. This shit can't go on again...if it does...those two gay den mothers will have to pay for it. I can't take the blame for this..."
"Gay den mothers!?" Kang Ta screeched, as he and Hee Jun came toddling up the hill while pulling their pants up.
"Yeah..." Se7en said, putting his hands to his temples. "Gay as hell den mothers." Hee Jun and Kang Ta just shrugged and surveyed the scene.
"Oh my..." Kang Ta whispered, as Hee Jun nodded in agreement.

Hotel roommates 2
Pairing: Young K (Day 6) x Fem!Reader; Genre: Slice of life, Idol AU, Angst, Romance, a little bit humour and some fluff; Rating: sfw, NC-17 in general; Warnings: slight cursing; Wordcount: 1.441
Summary: You booked a hotel room during the busiest time in town and everything seemed fine until you opened the door and met with a stranger, who looked just as confused as you. With no other rooms available and no other option you have to share the room with him.
Chapter: Preview 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 Epilogue
You turned around and noticed Brian standing in the doorway. Neither of you said a word and you saw how hard he tried to keep his eyes on your face.
“Sorry,” you mumbled and put on the oversized tee.
“Hm? What?” Brian stuttered. “Oh, no. No! I am sorry. I should.. uhm.”
“Don’t worry about it.” You lazily waved your hand to dismiss it. “Did you forget something?”
Brian was clearly relieved that you changed the topic but still he rubbed nervously over his neck. “Well.. honestly? I had hoped I could eventually sleep on the chair. At least better than with my band members. I swear the past forty minutes they kicked me out of bed literally a dozen times. And the other room is basically a sawmill,” he chuckled lightly.
“Sure, why not.” You shrugged with your shoulders while getting rid of your bra before you strutted to the bed. “But you could sleep on the other half of this bed as well - since it is kingsized.”
Speechless, he stared at you all the while you crawled under the blankets and got comfy. “Are you sure? I mean, it won't bother you?”
“If it bothers me, I wouldn't have suggested it.”
Unsure of what to do, Brian looked from the chair to the bed and back again. Only after reassuringly patting the other half he decided to sleep on the bed as well. He turned off the light and a few moments later you felt the mattress dip down next to you. “Thanks,” he whispered, afraid his normal voice would ruin the calm atmosphere.
“Mhm. No problem,” you mumbled sleepily before drifting off.
You were brutally shaken awake when your mobile phone rang an obnoxious message signal non stop. Groaning, you patted next to you to find that damn thing. After finally finding it you cracked an eye open just to see that a former roommate was spamming you with messages. “What the..” You hissed silently and quickly put your phone on silent.
“What's wrong?” Brian sleepily asked next to you.
“Hmm..” You swiftly flew over the messages. “I have to give a friend a valid reason why I can't get up now or she will video call me any minute.” Annoyed, you fell back into the pillow, groaning loudly.
“It's barely six in the morning?”
“Don’t care.”
“Hmm. Wait.” Suddenly Brian slid over to you, wrapped an arm around your body and pulled you against his chest. “Take a selfie and send it to her, saying you can't right now,” he explained while hiding his face in your neck.
His warm breath was fanning over your skin and you immediately got goosebumps all over your body. Hesitant, you lifted your mobile phone and took a picture. You couldn't see his face but it was obvious you were in bed with a man.
Right after sending the picture you put your phone away. “Thanks,” you whispered, your voice shaking a little out of nervousness since he still held you.
“Mhm,” he mumbled, pulling you closer. “Go back to sleep.”
You were more than grateful that it was still pretty dark in the room because you were sure your embarrassment was more than visible on your face. The only thing you hoped for was that only you thought your heart pounded so loudly.
You only relaxed after hearing Brian's calm and rhythmic breaths, indicating that he was sleeping again. Carefully you turned around to look directly at him. His black bangs almost hung over his eyes and you had to stop your urge to push them away. He was extremely handsome with his soft formed lips and his sharp jawline.
“You should sleep and not admire.” Brian grinned cheekily still with his eyes closed.
Yours instead grew wide in shock. “Sorry,” you mumbled and turned quickly away from him again. Embarrassed, you shutted your eyes tightly. You heard him laugh quietly before the tiredness once again pulled you in.
The next time you woke up to the room service knocking at your door. Slowly you crawled out of Brian's arms and out of the bed to open the door.
“Breakfast for two,” the man announced enthusiastically.
“Thanks. Just put it on the table, please,” you whispered, not wanting to wake up Brian. The man followed your instructions and left shortly after placing the tablet on the table. Quietly yawning, you closed the door behind him and went back into the room. Uncertain you looked from the food to Brian and the bed. Did you want to eat right away or just feel warm and protected in his arms for a little longer? “Five more minutes,” you murmured and crawled into the bed and Brian's arms.
You didn't notice that Brian was awake during the whole time and that he was silently observing you. You didn't notice his wide grin as soon as you slipped back into his arms. But you noticed him pulling you tighter against his chest and him nuzzling his face into your neck.
You liked that feeling. Him being close to you and this hug gave you the image of safety and warmth. You felt comfortable and as if you belonged right there - belonged right next to him and in his arms. Breathing in deeply you closed your eyes and relaxed against his body putting your arm above his and drawing little forms on his skin with your index finger while dozing off.
“Your five minutes are over,” Brian whispered into your ear.
“Really?” You pouted.
Brian stood up, chuckling to himself. “I can eat the whole breakfast on my own then.”
Immediately you shot up and were wide awake, staring at him in shock. This time Brian laughed out loud seeing your reaction. “So this is how I get you to wake up, huh?”
Pouting you crossed your arms in front of your chest. “Without me you wouldn't even have this luxurious breakfast.”
“And I am deeply grateful for that,” he laughed and bowed exaggeratingly in front of you.
Grinning, you stood up as well, taking place at the small table next to Brian. Together you enjoyed breakfast while keeping a light conversation. “Mhm, so you and your band members are here because of that festival? Do you give your own concerts as well?” You asked between two bites.
Brian nodded and gulped his food down before answering: “Yes, exactly. This time we are touring from festival to festival so people get to know us and to get more popular. But if enough people from one region ask for a concert then we actually do that too.”
“And your music?”
“We do almost everything on our own. We create our own melodies and we write our own lyrics. Our teamwork is brilliant, if I may say so myself. I really like how we work together and how we inspire each other with new ideas and create complete songs out of that.”
“Sounds like it takes a lot of time. Do you even do anything other than being in a band?” You asked curious.
Brian thought for a while. “Sleeping. Eating.”
“Ah, yes. My two favourite things to do.” You laughed loudly and grabbed a cherry tomato, popping it inside your mouth.
“I would like to do a lot more despite that. For example, reading. But to get popular we really have to work hard so we all gather around and work together in the band, learning new songs, repeating old ones, trying different things to make stages more appealing for fans. So when we get some time off we mostly visit friends or family and take the rest we didn't have during comeback seasons.”
For a while it was silent and both of you were in your own thoughts before Brian spoke up again. “What about you? I know you are here because of a surprise but what else is there about you?”
“Nothing much actually. I live from day to day, travelling wherever it takes me. I try to live pretty carefree and just take it as it comes. Before that I went to college and got my master degree but I don't like to stay for a long time at one place so I travel around the world, writing articles for magazines to pay for my next trip. And yeah, right now I am back for the baptism of my best friends daughter.”
Brian was about to ask another question but a knock on the door interrupted him. Confused, you stood up and walked to the door, opening it. You stood in the doorway and looked at four obviously overwhelmed men after seeing you.

I’m sorry
Pairing: Young K X Reader
Genre: Angst
Warnings: None
Word Count: 567
"Well maybe if you weren't out all night we wouldn't be having this argument!" You yelled at Young K trying your hardest to hold your tears back. It was the 3rd argument you guys had this week. You felt as if you guys were falling apart but you didn't wanna believe it, anything was fixable even this. This argument was about him deciding to stay out all night with Sungjin And Dowoon while you waited for him in his dorm. Sungjin and Dowoon went to there room the moment they noticed the tension in the room while Wonpil and Jae stood on the couch playing there game. "WELL MAYBE IF YOU WERENT SUCH A BITCH WE WOULDNT BE ARGUING RIGHT NOW" Young K shouted causing the boys to know he took it too far. "I can't believe you said that" you said tears falling from eyes causing his facial expression to soften. "Babe I'm sor—" he began to say walking closer to you "don't" was all the word you could manage to make out as you walked to his room and slammed the door shut, as much as you wanted to leave it was almost 3 AM and it was to late for you to walk back to your house. You laid there crying knowing that this time it can't actually be over, making yourself believe that this wasn't fixable. You felt your eyes getting heavier and you let yourself fall asleep.
The next morning:
You woke up to Young K laying on the floor beside his bed. Your head hurt thinking about all that happened the night before. You couldn't find it in yourself to be mad at him. His eyes fluttered open as you stared at him, he looked at you and you knew that he didn't know what to say so you turned around facing the other way and covering your head with the blanket. "Babe?" He said as he made his way next to you on the bed wrapping an arm around you. "Look you don't have to talk y/n" you stood silent as he took a deep breath. "Somedays are harder than others." He began to say as tears formed in his eyes. "And I know that this isn't perfect y/n...I know that it seems like this is the breaking point but it's not you're not a bitch I don't wanna argue anymore babe I'm tired of it and I'm scared of losing you I'm scared you'll get so sick of me that you'll leave and what if that happens? I wouldn't be able to sleep at night knowing that I hurt you and—" you moved the cover from your head and faced him as you heard him crying. You didn't know what to say so you began to leave gentle kisses on his face it broke your heart to see him like this"I love you do you know that" you said as he slowly stopped crying "and nothing will ever make me leave young k" he smiled softly but weakly as he wrapped his arms tighter around you and rested his head in the crook of your neck and mumbled a I love you and I'm sorry. You guys both laid like that for a while as you realized that no matter what happened with you and him that you guys would be able to fix it.

day6 jay college au // we’re not the same (1/?)
pairing: day6 jay x oc
genre: fluff
words: 1.3k
a/n: just a jae fanfic i’d been wanting to write for a long time. not sure how long will this be, but feedbacks will be much appreciated! <3
-
If Jae were to describe his college life, the perfect word would probably be “normal”. Cause that’s what it is. He’s just a typical university student who sometimes skips class to hangout with friends and barely submit assessments in time.
Well, probably not that typical since he’s part of a band called Day6.
Apparently, it makes people “cool” and although Jae likes to think that he’s just doing it because he loves music and it’s just a group made up of five college boys, Day6 is actually pretty popular in their university and gets booked to perform at gigs and events.
Today, the second semester of his sophomore year starts. And he would trade anything in the world for a fifteen minute nap in his warm, fluffy bed. Instead, he’s making his way to his first class, which to his luck, is probably the most boring subject he’s ever heard - Asian Literature.
Okay it’s probably an exaggeration and on a normal scenario, he would probably even find it interesting. But who the hell wants to learn about literature at 7 in the morning?
Jae entered the study hall and was greeted with students sporting the same sleepy expression as his. This is one of the good things about being in uni.
Nobody gives a damn what you look like. Heck, you can show up in class wearing sweatpants and a two-week old shirt and no one will bat an eye.
He made his way to the back of the room, ready to sit at his favorite spot at a corner beside the window. Said seat however, was occupied by a female student, who unlike all of them, looks like she was having the time of her life.
She was smiling wide, her eyes plastered on the screen of her phone. Jae sat on an empty spot beside her, and tried to ~subtly~ study her features. It’s one of his habits that he is still working on to quit.
He liked observing people, studying their appearance and gestures, trying to figure out what major they’re in or what they like to do on their free time.
It may be considered a useless talent, but’s he’s pretty good at guessing things about people just by a quick look.
Jae’s actions were interrupted by the arrival of their professor. Ten minutes in, he was already struggling to keep his eyes open. The professor - Mr. Jung as he introduced himself, was explaining something about his class rubrics and syllabus.
“I know it’s only your first day back, but I think it is important to assign these things early. I am giving you all a project for prelims.”
A collective groan was heard from all the students. A project on a first day? This professor is nuts.
“Don’t worry. It’s not an individual one. This project will be in pairs. Your partner will be... let’s see, let’s just make it whoever is sitting on your left.”
Jae glanced at the girl beside him, who offered him nothing but a thumbs up.
The rest of the class went on with Mr. Kim explaining the project but Jae barely heard any of it. Whatever, he just hopes his partner is taking down notes on what they actually need to do.
The bell rang and everyone hurriedly went out of the room to make it to their next classes. Jae grabbed his bag and was also making his way out when he heard someone call out his name.
“Hey, Jae right?” It was his project partner.
“How did you know my name?” He asked, eyebrows raised. Okay, maybe tone it down with the sass. He made a mental note of that.
“It’s on your bag.” She says, pointing at a keychain hanging off his backpack with his name on it.
“Anyways, I wasn’t really listening to the professor earlier but I think we can figure it out later on, yeah? I gotta run to my next class so here’s my number if you wanna talk about it. Bye!” She shoved a piece of paper on his hand before dashing out.
-
Only half of the day passed but Jae feels like as if all of his energy has been drained. The rest of his class was just as eventful as the first one, and he’s pretty sure all of his professors held a meeting and decided to make this semester the worst for him.
He sat at the activity centre as he waited for the rest of his bandmates for lunch. Absentmindedly, he took out the piece of paper that she gave to him earlier.
Jae started at her crisp handwriting and somehow find the way she wrote the letter “a” cute.
“What’s that?” In a blink of an eye, the paper that he was holding was already in the hands of his friend Younghyun.
“Yah! Hand it back!” Jae tried to get it back from him but his long limbs prove to be useless compared to his friend’s muscular arms.
“Is this a phone number I’m seeing?! Heol, did you already score a girlfriend on the first day of class?”
“What’s the fuss?” The youngest of the group and Day6's drummer Dowoon asked, peeking at whatever Younghyun was holding.
“Are you guys fighting already?” Jimin, their only female friend and Day6′s self-proclaimed manager scolded as she arrived along with Wonpil and Sungjin.
“Jae-hyung has a girlfriend!” Younghyun announced.
“No way! Who would wanna go out with this nerd?” says Jimin, as if the idea of Jae dating someone is the most disgusting thing she’s heard.
“Can you please shut your dumb mouth, Brian.” Jae retorted, emphasizing on the last word as he knows damn well how much his friend hated being called that name.
“She’s not my girlfriend okay? She’s just a partner for a project in one of my class.”
“Oh man, I totally thought you’d finally break that no-girlfriend-since-birth curse. But who knows, her name sounds cute so I’m betting she is.” Younghyun says.
“Wait a minute, you’re in the same class as her? And she’s your partner?!” Wonpil exclaimed.
“Yeah, so? You know her?”
“What do you mean, so? She’s literally one of the most popular students here in school! Everyone is dying to get her number and she handed it to you just like that!”
“Wait, you mean Jae-hyung’s partner is the same person who won the Most Popular Freshman Award last year? The one who is on the volleyball team?” Dowoon added.
Great. Everyone knows her except him.
“Well, her name’s pretty uncommon so I’m sure that’s her. Yah, Jae you’re so lucky!” Sungjin chimed.
“Ok, calm your tits. For the second time, she’s my partner for a project. Not a potential date or girlfriend. So can we please go get some lunch now?” Jae said, hoping his friends would finally drop the issue.
“Whatevs, I’m sure you’re not her type anyways. Let’s go!” With one last insult from Jimin, they all headed to their favourite kimchi jiggae place.
-
3:01 pm [unknown number]: hey, jae! still in class?
3:02 pm [unknown number]: it’s me, your partner for that asian lit project!!
3:03 pm [unknown number]: my class will be over in a while and my friend who’s in the same class told me we actually have something to pass next meeting!
3:04 pm [unknown number]: wanna meet up and talk about it? text me your building and i’ll be there!!!!
3:05 pm [unkonwn number]: also i got your number from one of your friends, so i hope you don’t get creeped out LOL
Jae’s classes were finally over for the day. As he opened his phone to check time time, he was welcomed by a serious of multiple texts from her.
He wanted nothing but to go home and take a nap and normally, he would procrastinate on his school works especially since it’s not due until next week.

Loved You Then
Synopsis: After years of being apart Jaehyung comes back to voice his feelings, but there was another event that held him back when he reunited with you.
Pairing: Jaehyung x reader
Genre: Fluff/angst
Word Count: 2769
A/N: another re-upload, but for my one and only day6 fic hahaha
You were eighteen when Jaehyung bidded goodbye to you in the summer; he gifted an envelope that held an inked correspondence with a simple trinket inside.
You remember that day almost too perfectly: He insisted that you would not open the poorly sealed sleeve until you were inside your vehicle, pure intentions to keep the contents a secret until then. It was not a tearful goodbye, sentiments were not dilapidated — rather, the feeling was almost refreshing.
You had known Jaehyung since you were young, being neighbors and stuck in each other’s classes since elementary swirled an ineffable friendship and a perceptible closeness. It started with a smile, a strange greeting that was paired with an effervescent laugh. You mirrored that same expression back that one mid-spring day, glamour gracing your face as you introduced yourself to him, sheepish and quiescent.
He looked at you, hesitant before replying. Though, when he did, you knew that he would have a significant role in your life.
And so he did.
As years stacked upon each other, days being wasted by walking to school together, creating jests in class, and making each other’s way back was somehow just enough for a stable friendship to form. You two stuck together like a being and its penumbra, constantly shadowing each other to poke silly jests or snap mindless comments towards each other’s mistakes.
Recalling the memories while you sat in the backseat of your car drew a small smile to your face, every fraction of the reminiscence appearing ephemeral the more you attempted to rise it to the surface. Episodes of you and Jaehyung engaging in a silent redamancy flashed in your mind: being alone together on holidays, his annoying aubades he would sing to wake you up in the morning, even to the smallest bits like when you both experienced a plethora of sleepless nights to talk about pointless things.
All in all, the admirable sentiment was evocative — one would of had to be blind to overpass the comely connection shared between you and Jaehyung.
But as limpid the raw intimacy was, nothing changed between you two. There were no proper dates, no surprising gifts — everything remained stagnant. All because you and Jaehyung kept each other’s thoughts at bay, afraid to disrupt the equanimous friendship that took years to construct.
Regret rained down on your being that day when you formally parted from him, kissing goodbye to the city and not your childhood love, but as you were being driven away by your parents in the back of the vehicle, it was already too late.
You remember it clearly: how you sat in the backseat that day wishing that the seats would engulf your tearful being. At that point anything would have felt better than the void in your stomach created by the one who would typically fill it. Your world was like a picturesque halcyon, a state of jocularity that you were able to share with him.
But it became nothing.
You recall staring down at the silly letter, tears seeping into the paper as you were no longer able to hold back such withering emotions. You ran your fingertips over the surface, unable to bring yourself to rip it open and reveal its contents. It took a couple of deep breaths to calm your nerves, but you finally did.
Inside the packed paper rested a letter and a necklace — his necklace of a miniature acoustic guitar similar to the one he carried like a talisman. You gawked at the matching jewelry, intransigent and unsure of what to think. Aside from the extensive amount of memories and mere snapshots of each other, you had something from him, puzzled on why.
That was, until you unfolded the letter.
Every ounce of weight that had piled on was alleviated off your shoulders when you read four simple words; a promise established in blue ink:
“Until we meet again.”
–
There is one day left before the start of Spring. Your world has never ran jejune for a second, felicit air sempiternal since your arrival into the new city.
You wake to the melodious chirps of the birds outside your apartment window, a peaceful tune that is a stark contrast to your typical blares of your alarm clock. As long as you have been living in the fresh city for four years, it still feels new to you. You groan, arm sailing to the bed stand to grab onto your phone, groggy. A scintilla of light streaks on your face when you flutter your eyes open, the illumination more unpleasant to your eyes than the brightness of your screen.
You squint your eyes as an attempt to focus your vision, trying to read the time — only to find out that you are an hour late for your breakfast date. You yank your blankets off your bed and raise yourself up quickly, eyes flaring wide when your mind finally catches up to the situation.
Your thumbs race over the screen of your phone, rapidly sending the first message.
[10:02 AM] You: are you up?
You purse your lips into a pout, anticipating an angry response but within seconds you retrieve the opposite.
[10:03 AM] My angel: Of course. Ive been waiting for you to wake up for an hour!! Way to stand me up
You smile at his message, the slight humor the same as always.
[10:03 AM] My angel: haha, i’m sorry. i forgot to set my alarm but at least i slept some more for once
[10:04 AM] My angel: Im joking :)
[10:04 AM] My angel: Still down for breakfast?
[10:05 AM] You: brunch*
[10:05 AM] My angel: Ill take that as a yes
[10:05 AM] You: same spot? you always order the same stupid chicken and waffles
[10:06 AM] My angel: You already know me, haha. Those are delicious too!! Ill see you in twenty?
[10:06 AM] You: thirty*
[10:06 AM] My angel: <3
You pull yourself out of bed, yawning and stretching prior to creating a cup of coffee. Your apartment is as quiet as ever as you walk through it, the only dull sound being your soft footsteps on the hardwood floor. As the liquid seeps into the glass pot you wait patiently, eyes still struggling to keep themselves open; that is, until you finally pour yourself a cup and down it.
The effect is enlivening, traces of fatigue being drawn out of your body as you prepare to get ready.
It is a typical Tuesday morning; nothing too out of the blue or disturbing, just like every other. The sun appears at its peak despite it barely being ten, and your body is quite the opposite. Desultory, you dress yourself and constantly check the time on your phone to see if you are somehow running late.
Within moments you are out the door, on time to meet up with your boyfriend just as promised. The streets are vast, cars barely adorning the streets as you walk by. It feels as if the sun peeping out in the sky is only a decoy, for the chill breeze practically overtakes every hint of heat — so much for summer.
It does not take long for you to arrive at the location: a dingy diner that juxtaposes with the modern architect of the town. Despite its antique exterior, within the confinements of the restaurants radiates sentiments of joy that come in the form of a simple breakfast plate, or even the muted tunes that emit from the speakers.
You stride onto the checkered tiles of the perimeter, the redolence of sweet syrup and fresh coffee swirling together in the air. Seating yourself, you situate yourself at the corner booth — the signature area for you and your boyfriend since the first date — and peruse the menu. It is a first that you arrive prior to your boyfriend; he usually takes punctuality quite seriously.
You cross your ankles as you skim the options, words not sinking in your mind — you are going to be ordering the same breakfast meal anyway. A few more people flood inside and out of the diner, none of them being your awaited partner, and you release a sigh.
Setting down the menu, your eyes fixate on the entrance of the door hoping that with every swing your boyfriend would be the one to waltz past it. You try to focus on the tunes as you wait for him and the waiter, but the thoughts of him arriving keep poking the back of your mind. It is not until you release another sigh for you to realize that there is a shadow being casted over you. You turn your head towards the cause and your heart almost leaps to your throat
Standing beside your signature table is not the same man that you constantly visit the diner; a familiar face, but one you have not seen in years.
And it takes you by surprise entirely.
Your eyes flare wide, two orbs like blown glass the more your mind refuses to fathom who is standing before you.
From the round glasses the summer blonde hair, skin gently kissed by the heavenly sun, you recognize him within a heartbeat. It takes a couple of moments for your mind to comprehend, but everything appears to fall into place the second he flashes that same signature grin.
It is not your boyfriend standing by the table — not the man you have been waiting for — but it is none other than Jaehyung.
You are rendered speechless, sentences lodged in your throat and the few that make it past has the words dissipating on your tongue. After all, what are you supposed to do when you have an accidental encounter with your childhood friend? Communication with Jaehyung came to a standstill two years ago, the routine of texting each other frequently easing away; it did not take long for, even the most diminutive of, conversations to vanish entirely.
Looking at him, those same eyes that always fill with wonder, your thoughts become a whirlwind and you cannot make a simple attempt to break the silence that is being shared. The music in the diner along with the constant chatter withers to white noise, providing you with a feel that you and Jaehyung are the only two people in the diner.
“I,” you begin, surprised. “Jaehyung?” you say his name, unsure.
He blinks twice, mind just as dazed as your own. “Y-yeah… Y/N, it’s been a while.” He smiles brighter, a look of assurance.
“What are you doing here?” you ask while urging him to sit down with you.
He accepts the offer and situates himself right across from you, fingers interlacing on the surface. “I was just in the area, I didn’t think I’d see you here.” He corrects himself, “Actually, I didn’t think I’d see you again.”
His words leave his mouth easily, a polar opposite to how you are unable to articulate your thoughts. You nod, paying attention more to the changes in his appearance than the depth of his words. “I didn’t think so either.”
His smile never falters, pearly whites still gleaming your way. “But… wow. You look different,” he comments, lighthearted.
You laugh. “I can say the same about you.”
“So,” he changes the subject, “how have you been?”
You hum, taking a moment to think. “Great,” you tell him. “Better because I’m getting my breakfast soon especially. What about you?”
“Good,” he responds, immediate. The waiter stops by and fills the empty mugs on the table with coffee, which are quickly followed with a small glass of water. The worker leaves and the conversation resumes like normal. “I’m still working on music and such.”
“That’s great to hear.” You smile. You avert your eyes from his own to look out the window; not in search of your boyfriend, and not as a distraction to shift from the situation, but to collect your thoughts briefly. “Hey,” you turn your attention to him, recalling a significant factor. “Do you still have your tiny guitar charm? The one that matches with what you gave me the day I left.”
Jaehyung appears taken aback, surprised at how you remember such a small item. “Why?” He raises an eyebrow. “Do you still wear it?” he questions, light hearted as if he expects the answer to be a “no.”
Instead, you reach for the long string around your neck, the item hidden by your clothing. You tug it out into the open, showing it off to your friend and on the spot, his smile dwindles. “I said I would never take it off,” you inform.
Jaehyung laughs, content. He sails his hands to his pockets, ready to pull out his keychain as he says, “Funny, because I actually—”
“—Y/N!” someone interrupts. You raise your eyebrows at the calling, head turning when you recognize the voice. Jaehyung halts, blood in his body practically freezing.
“Younghyun!” you say, recognizing the face. “Finally, I’ve been waiting here for a long time.”
Younghyun chuckles and plants a light kiss on your cheek when he sits himself next to you. “Sure you were,” he comments. His attention drifts to the man across from him, unfamiliar and a tad awkward. “Who is this?”
“Ah.” You chime, “This is Jaehyung. He’s the friend I told you about back when I lived in the small city.”
“Oh,” he hesitates, unsure thoughts crossing his mind, “I’m Younghyun, it’s nice to meet you.”
Jaehyung only nods at him, a tight smile etching on his face — his version of saying hello to someone a little unwanted for the time being,
“Jae,” you call. “This is my boyfriend, Younghyun.”
“B-boyfriend?” Jaehyung says lowly, swallowing his breath. He rests his palms on his lap, cancelling the action to pull out his keys. “Nice to meet you,” he says.
But by the time he voices his “hello,” it feels as if he is not wanted in the situation, for you are already far too engaged in a heated stare with Younghyun. Jaehyung cannot pull himself to speak, his tongue running as dry as sand the more he lingers in your presence.
He discreetly watches the way Younghyun takes your hand in his, fingers interlaced, and Jaehyung cannot help but wonder what it would be like if he was in your position — if he was the one to hold you lovingly and have these breakfast dates with you frequently.
It isn’t until he clears his throat and uncomfortably shifts in his seat for him to gain your attention again. You force a smile, remember the earlier conversation. “So, what were saying about the charm?”
“Nothing much,” he fibs, hands balling into fists on his lap. There is a long line of silence shared between you two, a quietude that strangers experience with one another. Younghyun quirks the corner of his lips up, taking note of the situation and he tries to diminish his presence.
Jaehyung continues, “I was just going to say that I lost mine a long time ago.”
Your smile fades at the words you thought you would never hear. He broke the small news so easily, and with a slight chuckle — almost as if the charm had no relevance to begin with, like it was never a silent promise for a reunion. This time, you are frozen and left on the edge of unsure thoughts.
“I should go,” Jaehyung tells you. “Music calls.”
But before you can tell him goodbye, he lifts himself from the seat and starts to amble to the exit. You watch his physique quickly saunter, like the moment shared between you two was toxic, and he turns to do a small wave.
You wave back and Younghyun grips harder onto your hand, a small sign to let you know that everything is okay — whatever everything is.
As Jaehyung is a foot out the door he glances one last time at you at the corner table, catching your fetching grin by someone else’s side — someone that is not him. He smiles to himself, happy to see you are well, and slips out his car keys from the depths of his pocket.
He gawks at it for a little, adoring the matching acoustic guitar that dangles on its chain. After all, he said he would never lose it — the item that promised a reunion, a chance to tell you that throughout all the years, he loved you.

I really really liked this! I’ve not really thought of Day6 outside of just listening to their music, but now I want to watch videos of them and get to know them. And by listening to their music I mean I’m listening to something really like it and look to see who it is and like, “ ohh, that’s them!?” But back to the story Brian and Jae... how would I choose...how would I choose. Maybe like Marcy did because fortune favors the bold and Brian went for it. I’m excited to see how these stories turn out. Now I’m going to re-read the next night ;)
Strawberry Kisses: The Night Before
Marcy’s roommate, who is dating Sungjin, takes her to a get together with Day6. There, she’s informed that someone in the group likes her, but she couldn’t depict who.
A/N: I could write this forever, I love Marcy and the boys. I’m in the process of making Part 3 (currently unnamed), but will not be posted as quickly as Part 1 and 2 (but it’s my goal). Also, low-key had my own housemate be the inspiration for Marcy’s roommate (because she’s a trip and I adore her).
Warnings/Themes: This is more plot and fluff than smut, but does have some spice. Heavy petting, dry humping, some dirty talk, praise, marking (overall pretty light compared to the last chapter)
Word Count: 5.1k
Keep reading

I love so many people, and there are so many good reads on tumblr, yet so hard to find them. Here are a few that I super love. A lot of fluff, sometimes angst, fun and just stuff that makes me feel giddy inside.
A bunch of longer fanfic reads, story based, or just scenarios I really love. No 18 stuff, but some may hint at it. Read the warnings on each writing before continuing on the story, please! Oh, and I tried to tag the authors so there's easier access, but it reached the limit so I just mentioned them if you wanna search them up!

Kdrama recs Part 1
Hullo and welcome to the kdrama life @camsthisky! The following list is not in any particular order, other than the fact that I start with a more rom/com vibe and head toward more romantic/action or action. All the following kdramas are set in the modern day, and part 2 of my recs for you will be either darker kdramas set in present day or historical dramas.
Let the list begin!
1. Strong Woman Do Bong Soon:
Do Bong Soon is a v smol woman who has super strength and who wants 1. To create her own video game 2. Get her police officer crush to return her affections. Which like, police officer is kinda cute but he ain’t that special. Bong Soon winds up becoming a bodyguard to Ahn Min Hyuk, the extremely rich, kinda spoiled, ridiculously extra CEO of a gaming company who does not like the police for secret reasons, and sadly does not have a good relationship with his family. (He a lonely boy underneath everything.) Min Hyuk finds out about Bong Soon’s powers, is in TOTAL awe of her, offers to train her in fighting, and literally falls head over heels for her.
The caveat with this show is there is a subplot or two that annoy me, BUT I just use the 10 second skip button and it is totally worth it because the romance is super cute—SUPER CUTE (also I have a list of favorite actors and Park Hyung Sik is def on it—one minute he is an adorkable, blushing bby the next he can be intense and sad)
He cute
2. Her Private Life:
Hello fake-dating!! Ryan Gold (an adoptee who didn’t live in Korea for a while) is a former artist who stopped painting because he couldn’t deal with his Stendhol (?) syndrome (among other traumas). Deok Mi is the classy art curator of a famous museum who definitely does not have any secrets she wants to keep from the world—well, other than the fact that she is the number one fangirl of kpop idol, Cha Shi-an (who also appreciates art) and has a major crush on him. Ryan becomes director of the art museum and there is a whole thing with getting Shi-an involved in an art show.
Following this and a series of unfortunate events a false rumor starts that Deok Mi and and Shi-an ARE dating. It’s a little complicated to summarize, but basically what you need to know is that Ryan and Deok Mi become a fake couple so there won’t be a scandal for Shi-an or violence done to Deok Mi by rabid fangirls. I enjoy the fake-dating trope a lot, and how it becomes real for both of them! The leads are played by Kim Jae Wook and Park Min Young, who both have incredible range. Lots of soft moments in this one! Good kisses, a scene where the faves bake together, and also Ryan wears a lot of deep v-neck shirts and jackets which is an attack on me personally.
The show also contains a bit of angst, which I LOVE. Hand-holding becomes an important theme 😊
RYAN NO
3. Crash Landing on You: Rich South Korean heiress/fashion designer Se-ri accidentally winds up in a North Korean village, and really REALLY wants to go home. Mostly because there are no scented candles or spa-like bathtubs in the vicinity, but also because she could easily disappear into a NK jail and never return. A North Korean captain named Ri Jeong Hyeok finds her and decides not to turn her because, one, he’s a good guy who doesn’t want to turn an innocent person over to what might be her death, and two, turning her over might get his four underlings in trouble for reasons. Said underlings are his family, basically, and they are a deLIGHT. One is an argumentative proud sort who likes to drink and to feel important and who tries to provoke (and gets provoked by) Se-ri at every opportunity, one is a lover of banned South Korean dramas, one is a 17 year old bby who misses his mom, and one is the silent but most loyal follower of the captain.
Besides all these people, there are two other characters (including a surprisingly wise conman) who become faves and major players in the plot.
There is a great mix of humor, romance, found family, and angst, and I love it very much. A few things don’t go the way I want them to near the end, but a bit of imagination and fanfic can fix anything
ALSO I FORGOT THE CAPTAIN GETS SUPER SULKY FROM TIME TO TIME AND IT IS HILARIOUS
Show of hands, who thinks they will meet again
4. Are You Human Too: A FAVORITE SHOW OF ALL! TIME!
What do you do when your husband dies and your evil mega-rich father-in-law takes your son away from you and keeps you from seeing him ever? Well, if you are scientist with more genius than positive coping methods, you build yourself a robot son who looks exactly like your real son. Great solution, am I right?
Nam Shin III is the name of my favorite robot son, played by the inestimable Seo Kang Joon. He is the purest bby you will ever meet, being designed so that he never lies and so that he will immediately go to hug anyone who cries. He seems quite a contrast to the bitter human Nam Shin, who hates his gilded prison life, hates his Grandpa, and tries to sneak away from his right hand man, Secretary Ji Young Hoon, his only friend in the world. The girl in the show is Kang So Bong, an ex-UFC fighter who was so badly injured she had to quit. She is at first a bit jaded and mercenary because of her past, but she has a golden heart that just needs to be reminded of its existence.
Not going into details to avoid spoilers, but everything upends when the robot Nam Shin has to take the place of the human Nam Shin. The show is a soft, funny, angsty exploration of what it means to be human, with some good found family throughout. The character development is phenomenal, and the connection between So Bong and Nam Shin III is *chef’s kiss*. I just want to give a shout out to Seo Kang Joon who plays a duel role like you wouldn’t believe, to SKJ’s smile, to the soundtrack, and to the character of Young Hoon, a loyal, steady, and self-sacrificing secretary that we do not deserve (gosh tho he looks good in blue!)
Look at my robot son getting a long-looked for affirmation! (his lil smile!!!
5. W: Two Worlds:
This show unique because it meta as HELL! Oh Yeon Joo is a junior doctor and the daughter of a webtoon artist whose big hit, W, is coming to a close. Much to her surprise, she gets pulled into the world of the comic where she encounters and saves the main character, Kang Chul, a former Olympic shooting champion who was blamed for the murder of his entire family, and whose sole desire is to find the real killer. It’s a good romance between them, and I also love Kang Chul’s relationship with his hyung, which, tho it is not always a main focus, is present and wonderful. Kang Chul himself is both intelligent and adorably bratty, charismatic and angsty, soft and fierce, and he is one of my favorite kdrama characters for sure.
As for the meta, the show does a fantastic job exploring the rules of the comic world, of how one can enter and leave, the importance and power of main characters and supporting characters, and the purpose of an author. There is always another twist coming, and it is just so much fun!
UM SIR PLS POINT THAT ELSEWHERE
6. Healer:
I watched half this show and never realized that the female lead is played by Park Min Young, same actress as in Her Private Life. Someone had to tell me lol! She’s just so good at playing different people. In this show, she is Chae Young Shin, a reporter for a celebrity tabloid who has big dreams of becoming a famous reporter who investigates stories that actually mean something. She is a bit quirky, very cute, very brave, and probably one of my favorite female leads. She lives with her dad above his coffee/teashop bakery and is friends with all the ex-cons he has defended while doing his other job of lawyering.
Anyway this show is more of a romantic/action drama. To get an idea of the titular Healer, picture what you would get if you took some of Batman and Nightwing’s aesthetics (wearing black, hanging out on rooftops, punching people, flipping around, etc) and put them into a night courier who likes to watch National Geographic and dream about one day going off to an island where he can live all by himself for the rest of his days because oh yeah he is a loner whose only friend is an older woman who sets up his jobs and whom he has never actually met.
There is also an older reporter that Young Shin looks up to, the fun tabloid office where she works, a heck lot of mystery surrounding some tragedy involving a group of reporter best friends/found family back in the 80’s/90’s, and of course both members of the OTP have childhood trauma that has made them who they are today. One of my favorite things that happens in the show is that Healer has to go undercover for a while, Clark Kenting it up in Young Shin’s tabloid office, which overnight becomes a real news agency for reasons.
The action is LOTS of fun, and the romance is really soft and cute, and better still, when there is a misunderstanding or something that gets in their way, they almost immediately talk about it and resolve issues. They TRUST each other and give the benefit of the doubt where many tv couples would break up or get in big fights. I find it (plus the character development) very refreshing.
I couldn’t find a gif of my favorite fight sadly. This will have to do
7. Lawless Lawyer: This has Lee Joon Gi. Watch it.
Just kidding, there are many other reasons to watch the show, but it is true that Lee Joon Gi is one of my favorite actors. The man has phoenix eyes, a jawline that could cut silk, diamonds, you name it, and such a deep well of emotional acting that it literally kills me when his characters rage/weep/love/etc.
Anyway, in this legal thriller/romance/action drama, LJG’s character Bong Sang Pil is a beautiful, very extra ex-gangster/now lawyer who opens his own office, ready to fight villainy and avenge his mom with the law or with his fists, whichever is more useful at the time. He has a right hand man named Manager Tae and recruits a bunch of thugs as his minions, and they all become a weird sort of family as the show goes on.
Ha Jae Yi is a quiet badass lawyer who has no time for sexist idiots and gets her license suspended for smacking one of said fools. She gets recruited to assist Sang Pil, and they find their goals align as both their mothers were destroyed by the villains.
Speaking of the villains? EXCELLENT acting by them all, like they need to go down obviously, but you can’t help but be in awe of a few of them or even get attached to one or two in a weird way. Props to the show for having one of the best female villains I have ever seen
What an icon
Here you get two gifs of him
Sorry I needed to make it a magical three lol

I have long debated whether or not I should write this, but @rain-hat convinced me that I should. So here I am, penning this diss meta about The King: The Enternal Monarch. Starting off with the disclaimer that I love this show. This is the show that introduced me to the wonderful Woo Do Hwan and for that I can never be thankful enough. But I have issues with the show, and I will enumerate them here. Brace yourselves for a tirade. It’s long, so putting a “keep reading”.
1) Manpasikjeok: Let’s start with the basis of the series. The Manpasikjeok. The series never delves into what the Manpasikjeok is. It’s a flute, yes. But it doesn’t delve into the background of this all-powerful plot device. I understand that the Manpasikjeok is a part of the Korean folklore and thus, probably the makers did not feel the need to delve deeper. But for non-Korean viewers like me, it was very confusing. So, before I speak about the details of what exactly bothered me about the flute, I will present the story itself.
After the death of his father King Munnu, King Sinmun of the Silla Dynasty heard the rumors of an island floating toward the temple that he had built in the honor of his father. A fortuneteller told Sinmun that the late King had become a sea dragon and his loyal General, Kim Yu-shin, had become a heavenly god. The fortuneteller also said that if he were to visit the island, he would get an incredible gift. When Sinmun went in search of this floating island, it looked like it had a turtle’s head and a bamboo tree on its back. In the mornings, the bamboo looked to be split into two while at night, it would join. After braving through seven days of storm, the King reached the island. There the sea dragon told him to make a flute out of the bamboo tree. This flute was said to provide magical properties. When the flute was played, enemy forces would retreat, and diseases were cured. Also, the magic flute would bring rainfall if there was a drought and stop the rains in floods. Ever since then, the bamboo flute was called ‘Manpasikjeok,’ meaning a flute that calms down ten thousand waves and it became a national treasure. This is the folktale.
If I am to nitpick, time travel and parallel universes are not mentioned in the folktale. But that is something I am willing to let slide, because you need something to make the story work and the makers chose a mythical object from the folklore. People do it all the time, so I am not going to penalize the makers for it. What I am going to diss them for is the way they spoke about the spirit of the flute. Was it a demon? A spirit? A god? What? Why did it not allow Lee Lim to age? If time passes differently for the owner of the flute as Lee Lim claims, why did Gon’s time seem normal for the most part? The only difference in time seemed to be when the portal was opened and time stopped. So, before Gon opened the portal, time did not stop for Lee Lim. Why then did he not age?
2) Post series events (part I): Which brings me to the second problem I have with the series. Post-series events. I understand Ta Eul retaining her memories of the alternate timeline because, she was in the portal and thus, remained untouched by the effects of the changed timeline. Fair. I get Gon retaining memories, because he was the owner of the flute. Granted. Why did Jo Yeong retain the memories when everyone else forgot about it? The only explanation I have is that it was because he was in the past timeline when the timeline changed? But the show never bothers to give an explanation for it. Also, if the events in altered timeline happened almost exactly as they did in the original timeline, then Yeong came to Republic of Korea. If Yeong came to Republic of Korea, then he met Jo Eun Sup. As did Gon. Why then did Eun Sup not recognize Gon at the end? Why does Yeong say that Eun Sup will not remember him? Is it because Yeong retained memories from the altered timeline and hence believed Gon when he said that he was going to the other world? Then, it stands to reason that Yeong did not go to Republic of Korea. Then things changed! They did not go exactly the way it happened in the series. Ah! My head hurts.
3) Corea and Korea: They are parallel worlds. I get it. But at times, they were nigh indistinguishable. This is @rain-hat’s input and I agree with it completely. Why are the people in Corea dressed like Westerners and why are we not seeing more Hanboks? Why are court ladies the only ones dressed in traditional garb? Also, what is the official religion of Corea?
4) The characters: This is going to be a long one, so brace yourselves. I have issues with the characters. I’m going for bullet points, because I have LOT TO SAY.
· Kang Shin-jae: Other than messing with him in all possible ways, what was the purpose of this character. As my editor once said, you must ask yourself what purpose does a character serve to the overall story? The litmus test of it being, if the said character is removed from the equation, does it impact the overarching plot of the story in any significant way? And much as I love this character, I’m sorry to say, his removal would not have impacted the story in any way. Yes, I’m aware that even Meyong Seung-ah does not pass this litmus test, but she does not occupy nearly as much screen time as Shin-jae. I wish they had utilized the character more than just use him as a material to evoke emotions.
· Koo Seo Ryeong: She is portrayed as a villain/b*tch. Why? Because she has political ambitions and is a woman who is not above playing the ruthless game that the men around her seem to be playing? She is a woman who has clawed her way to the top in a man’s world. Can we please stop demonizing women like this?
· Jo Yeong: Yes. Surprise, I know. He is the reason I (and many others) kept watching the show. The man who stole the show, the one who carried the show. A startlingly pretty face backed by a phenomenal performance, Jo Yeong is a treat. BUT, for a character as spectacular as Yeong, he was not utilized enough. I wish the show had actually given him something to do when he was in Korea. They wasted a talent like Woo Do Hwan.
· Jeong Ta-eul: I loved Ta-eul when she first came on screen. Badass, no nonsense, tough as nails cop in her thirties as out leading lady? HELL YEAH! But then she meets Lee Gon and all the things that I loved about her seemed to evaporate. She became a cry baby and I just could not handle that. K-dramas, can you please stop turning the badass female leads into a prop for the leading man’s “bravery and heroism”. (Fervently hoping Nine Tails doesn’t do that, because I love Jo Bo ah’s character there).
· Lee Gon: Oh, I hate this character with a passion. TKEM gave me SLS like no other drama before or since. I sincerely want to ask Lee Min Ho; just how many versions of Gu Jun Pyo are we going to see from him? Rich, powerful, privileged man who does whatever he wants? I’m getting really tired of it. I like Lee Min Ho, but really, you need to branch out, dude.
5) Post series events (part II): Speaking of Lee Gon, my man, you posses the all powerful tool to travel through parallel universes and time, and you use it to go on dates? WHAT THE F***? AAAHHGHHKSJJGFHVJHMDSYFHJVHKJNSKLJHG. Lee Lim was right. You’re WASTING it. Ugh. Personally, I felt as though the entire romance plot could have been done away with.
6) JoGon: The series teased heavily about this relationship and the fandom lapped it up. Beautiful fanart and fanfics emerged. But, I have issues and no, it’s not because they’re a same sex couple. My issue comes from the power dynamics of the couple. It is skewed beyond belief. The dynamic works perfectly when it is a king-bodyguard relationship. But the second it becomes a romance, there’s problem. All the power in the relationship is with Gon and Yeong has almost no agency in the relationship. And I love Jo Yeong too much to subject him to a relationship like that.
7) Product Placement: Yes, it was tough, but there was a series somewhere between all those product placements.
In closing, this series had the potential to be so much more. Yet, it failed. Spectacularly. I liked and enjoyed this series, but I have so many issues. SO MANY. Do you have any issues you would like to add? Please feel free.

Vol 1 - Battle of the Boy Bands - Chapter 1/23
This is one of many archived fanfics featuring 1st and 2nd generation K-pop acts that I've come across recently. It's all in good fun, and maybe a bit cringeworthy! Just to clarify, I don't post fanfics, so I hope to the people that post and read K-pop fanfics makes sense. Credits go out to the original creator (hgiel) Anrui, Kyorei, and Jacqui.
*Note: Nothing in their post will change (unless necessary), other than being posted here, and the (Link) will be provided to the page that i found it on.
This work draws inspiration from the fandoms of K-pop, H.O.T., Dong Bang Shin Ki, junta - Fandom, 1TYM, SM Town and YG Family.
This piece is appropriate for audiences aged thirteen and older, encompassing themes of humour, romance, angst, drama, and violence. It was released on January 5, 2005.
Characters:
Choi Dongwook (Se7en), Wheesung, Moon Heejoon, Ahn Chilhyun (Kangta), Jae Joong, Yun Ho, Mickey, Max, Xia, Young One, Woo Hyun, UBin, Dong Hwa, Jumin
Summary:
K-Pop and DBSG just put out albums and have are on a reality show, hosted by Se7en, to promote it. It isn't fun though, because Junta is their baby sitters, and the romantic drama is as thick and annoying as 90210.
Chapter 1: Se7en hosts a dangerous reality show setting boy bands against each other.
Se7en bowed to the camera, "I'm Se7en, and I'll be your host of Battle of the Boy Bands! On the pink team we have K-Pop." He moved to his right, revealing the members of K-Pop standing in pink shirts.
K-Pop bowed and said "We're K-Pop." Jumin continued on.. "I'm group leader, Jumin. Please buy our 3rd album that just came out!" He held a copy to the camera. "Its called Memomries. We're the only Korean boy band with enough balls to have our album title miss-spelled." The other K-Pop members clapped.
The camera panned back to Se7en. "And on our black team we have Dong Band Shin Gi." And he revealed them, moving to the left.
DBSG in black shirts bowed, saying "We're Dong Bong Shin Gi." Uknow continued. "I'm group leader Uknow. We just came out with our first album Triangle." He too held a copy for the camera. "As clones of H.O.T you can't help but buy it!" And DBSG clapped.
"Well, there are our teams!" Se7en said, entering the frame. "Our teams will be here for 7 days." And he flipped onto his hands, making a 7 sign with his legs. "They will stay here the whole week." He gestured to the wooded area they stood within. "Sleeping in two separate cabins with no electricity or hair spray." Hero and UBin gasped in the back ground. "Within the week they'll be subjected to competitions at any given time! Whoever's group wins.....Well it's a surprise." He winked, seven times.
"So our first competition is a race! Your cabins are seven miles away." He again, flipped onto his hands, making a 7 with his legs. "Whoever get to their cabin first, eats tonight! The other team starves. But there will be obstacles in your way, there may even be seven of them." He did the flip again. "Or maybe not anywhere near seven. Pink team, follows the pink flags tied on trees, black team follows the black flags. Everyone ready?" Everyone but Donghwa nodded, having zoned out long ago, not even knowing he was on the pink team.
"Ready, set.....GO!"
"Go what?" Donghwa asked, but Ubin grabbed his arm and pulled him along as both bands took off running.
Se7en watched them go for a minute and then turned back to the camera. "....1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7!" And started break dancing. The camera man rolled his eyes and turned off the camera, walking away. "Wha-" Se7en fell, mid flip. "COME BACK HERE!!!
So far they hadn't come across any obstacles, but suddenly Jumin and Young One, who were in the lead, skidded to a stop. "Hold it." Jumin said to the other three as they caught up. "What is it?" Ubin asked, popping up from behind Jumin. "Oh it's a mirror!"
"A mirror....why is this an obstacle?" Jumin wondered aloud. Shrugging it off, he walked around, but when he noticed no one followed but Woo Hyun, he turned back.
Young One had taken his shirt off and was flexing for the mirror. Ubin was looking back at the mirror, looking at his own butt. Dong Hwa just stood idle
"What are you guys doing!!!!" Jumin demanded of them.
"I've gotten so fat!" UBin cried.
"I've gotten so much hotter." Young One muttered, flexing his other arm.
"Come on you guys!!!!!!!!!" Jumin screamed. "Don't you want dinner?????????"
"I don't think I need it!" Ubin cried again. "Maybe its these pants, maybe I should take these pants off..."
"NO." Jumin, Young One, and Woo Hyun snapped.
"Just come on you guys, this is ridiculous." Woo Hyun said.
"Shut up dude, no ones talking to you." Young One barked at him.
"You shut up dick!"
"What did you call me?" Young One said angrily, coming up to him.
"You heard me."
"Do you two always have to fight?" Jumin tried to push them apart, to little avail.
"Its going to be your fault if we lose!" Woo Hyun added.
"STOP BREAKING UP THE BAND YOKO!" Young One yelled.
"YOU SON OF A BITCH."
And they began fist fighting.
Everyone stood around the mirror, looking at Hero who had been fixing his hair for 15 minutes. They had tried dragging him away but everyone was too scared of being bit.
"Just leave his ass here..." Max said, for the 50th time.
"We all have to make it to the cabin to win." Uknow explained.
"We have to have dinner!!!" Xiah whined. "I'm just a girl, I need something to eat."
"FOR HEAVEN SAKES YOU AREN'T A GIRL XIAH!" Micky barked.
"Do something UKnow, you are the leader." Max pointed out.
Uknow sighed, and walked behind Hero. He wrapped his arms around Hero's waist and pressed his lips to his ear and whispered "Jae Joong...come on-" But Hero punched him in the face, screaming "DON'T TOUCH MY HAIR!!!"
Uknow fell back with a bloody nose.
Hero's nose flared and he looked back.
"He smells blood..." Xiah said, uneasily.
"Hurry, help me drag him!" Micky said.
They all grabbed a dazed UKnow and draged him off as fast as they could as Hero chased after, drooling.

SF9 Crime Underworld! AU Character Profiles
This story is inspired by John Wick movie where we will see the SF9 members working as various roles from the movie. Each of them has their own love interest and this will be a story that’s connected with each other. I’m putting the mafia tag because I’m afraid not many people are aware of this kind of AU and idk what to call it other than ‘Underworld’ hahahah. Alsoo i’m not going to use “Y/N” and “You”. I’m the type that just can’t imagine myself acting in a fanfic of my favorite boys :’) Also I hope this fic can get you to watch John Wick trilogy. I highly recommend it!!

As the best melee fighter of his generation in the house he intends to keep it that way. Ordered by The Director to protect Junko Han from attempted assassination, Youngbin and his brother are to play the act of Junko’s escort and classmate.

If you think New York’s public library wasn’t part of the crime, you’re wrong. Kim Inseong is the head librarian. Exceptionally a genius for his young age, the High Table promoted him to be responsible with the library’s records and security. Yet, Jae Yoon knows getting out of this world would be already impossible for him. His sins are too heavy to throw away. So the only choice he got was giving the High Table his fealty as a doctor in service of the underworld. Let them be commoners or killers, he will fix them with a price. His father has had a seat in the High Table for 10 years and soon it is ready to be given for his eldest son, Kim Seok Jin. But Rowoon knows just how incapable his older brother is. How truly useless and shallow his mind to be able to lead the Blue Hornet Mafia. Yet somehow, his father doesn’t see that. He needs to take him out. It’s now or never. Knowing John Wick isn’t up for a deal, Rowoon commissioned Delphia, a high ranking assassin that has brilliant records of kill streaks and never taking no prisoners.

Begin Again | KHSxJJH Fanfic
Note: Set during the first script reading of Hyena and some scenes during their filming.
Song used: Begin Again by Taylor Swift
~
Took a deep breath in the mirror
Hyesoo checks out her face in the mirror. She’s wearing her favorite baseball cap, not just because it’s fashionable; but also because she’s a bit shy. It’s her first drama after her 3 years break. She lets out a deep sigh to compose herself to face her co-stars.
He didn't like it when I wore high heels, but I do
She’s wearing her favorite ankle boots that’s 6 inches high. She loves wearing heels, she has a closet full of it. Though, she also have sneakers and ballet flats she rarely wear. She remembers buying it because when she was still with her ex-boyfriend, he’d always make fun of her heels, calling it “killer shoes”. So, she’d only wear flats and sandals during their relationship.
Turned the lock and put my headphones on
Hyesoo always thought that she’d had the best relationship with her ex-boyfriend because she almost wanted to marry him. She’s all willing for it because she thought she’d found her future with him. But somewhere along their relationship, they’d find their differences they both don’t want to change.
He always said he didn't get this song but I do, I do
They learned each other’s weaknesses and bad traits. After years of being together, there are time when they’d fight every time they’d meet up. And they would find it hard to make it up after. He’s too introverted and she’s too outgoing. They’d soon realize that their love for each other weren’t enough to overcome such differences. And she has realized that maybe.. maybe their love was never enough to change each other.
Walked in expecting you'd be late
Hyesoo entered the hall and some of her co-stars were already there. Hyesoo smiles at everyone who greets her. The set up was different. In other script reading, the lead actors are usually sitting in front of each other; in this case, her name was attached on the chair beside her leading man, Ju Ji Hoon.
But you got here early and you stand and wait; I walk to you
Hyesoo smiles and bows a little when Ji Hoon glanced at her. He stood up and did the same thing. She walked towards her chair but before Hyesoo reaches her chair, Hwang Bo Ra came to greet and hug her.
You pull my chair and help me in
When Hyesoo finally walks to her chair, Ji Hoon pulled out her chair. She smiled at him and he smiled back. She mouths, “Thank you.” Ji Hoon whispers softly, “Sure.”
And you don't know how nice that is, but I do
She always get that kind of treatment from everyone. They’re always respectful towards her and think highly of her. She never expects though, she knows her time is slowly fading. She’s never been as confident as she is when she was still young. She is not as confident as everyone think, everything was just her facade. She won’t let anyone see her weakness, but herself.
And you throw your head back laughing like a little kid
The script reading started and it was a blast. Every line she says makes her think that accepting that role was a right decision. When the script reading ended, they thanked and wished each other good luck. Hyesoo’s eyes landed on Ji Hoon’s, they’re both smiling. “Can I get you something? Coffee? Tea?” Ji Hoon asks her, there’s confidence in his tone. “Yoon Hee Jae, the drama haven’t even started yet. You’re falling for me already?” She teases him.
I think it's strange that you think I'm funny 'cause he never did
Ji Hoon laughed hard, he got everyone’s attention, “I’m sorry.” he bows then tried to hide his mouth with his right hand. Hyesoo’s lips curls a bit because she finds him amusing. She never thought she’d make him laugh like that with such remark. It wasn’t even that funny. She didn’t think Ji Hoon would find that funny.
I've been spending the last eight months thinking all love ever does
Her last relationship made her question her self-worth. It was all happy and exciting at first, when they’re still in love and getting to know each other deeper, but it lasted only after they see each other at worst. Everything doesn’t make sense anymore.
Is break and burn and end
When they broke up, they promised each other they’d keep the friendship. Hyesoo promised that she’d never let their good friendship go to waste just because they didn’t work out as a couple. Yes, she was hurt a lot, it changed her. After that, she’d never want to be in a relationship again.
But on a Wednesday in a café I watched it begin again
Hyesoo can’t believe how talkative Ji Hoon was. He’s been talking since she said yes to his offer. Ji Hoon suggested to buy their coffee as she waits for him in the car. He’d wear his baseball cap and sunglasses then silently sneaks into the cafe. Hyesoo looks at him from afar while smiling, she can’t believe his willingness to risk himself out there just to get her coffee.
You said you never met one girl who had as many James Taylor records as you, but I do
After successfully buying their coffee, Ji Hoon started talking again as he drives her home. He promised her and her manager that he’ll drive her home after buying her coffee. “You know how crazy of a fanboy am I? Well, I’ve collected every album of David Bowie, from his debut until he stopped producing. Ahh, he’s one of the best singer of all time.” Ji Hoon says as he keeps his eyes on the road. Hyesoo’s eyes widened. “Really? Woah, that’s amazing. I also have a collection of his album.” It’s her favorite.
We tell stories and you don't know why, I'm coming off a little shy, but I do
Hyesoo was just smiling the whole time as they talk about something they both like. Ji Hoon talks about anything, about his childhood, about how he got those mismatched eyes because of baseball, about his favorite musician and everything under the sun. Hyesoo just sits there, listening to him gladly.
But you throw your head back laughing like a little kid
“You can be a vlogger or a talk show host at this point. You sure talks a lot.” Hyesoo tells Ji Hoon when they stopped in front of her house. Again, he laughs at what she said. Hyesoo stared at him a bit surprised and amused. He’s like a child, she thought.
I think it's strange that you think I'm funny 'cause he never did
"Am I that funny? You laugh at everything I say." Hyesoo asks him. Ji Hoon stopped laughing but she can still see the joy in his eyes. She's can't help asking about his genuinity, still can't believe he's that happy with her and to think they just met. But Ji Hoon didn't answer, he just stared at her while smiling, letting her see it on his eyes.
I've been spending the last eight months, thinking all love ever does
“I’ll go ahead.” He bids farewell to her with his smiling eyes. After that day, Hye soo thought it’d be the last time. But even before they started filming, Ji Hoon would always bug her to get coffee with him or have lunch with him. He’d always go to her and talk like there’s no tomorrow.
Is break and burn and end
She’ll learn a lot about him. “You know, I really, reaaaally, love to love. I think love is what we need the most.” He speaks as he smells his coffee she made him. They’re having their coffee in her couch while listening to one of David Bowie’s album. “I believe love will make us all happy.” Ji Hoon says, then he sips. She smiles at what he said but she tried to hide it by drinking from her coffee.
But on a Wednesday in a café I watched it begin again
She’d watch him take a nap on her couch after a long day of filming. She’d see how he flips and turns his body to find a comfy position. She’d see him drool and she’d find it amusing. And when he wakes up, she’d notice his sleepy confused face turns into a sleepy frail smile when he sees her. “Your nap takes longer than I thought. It’s already 2am.” She tells him. “You haven’t sleep yet?” He asks, his eyes are still half asleep. “I can’t sleep.” She answers.
And we walk down the block to my car
He’d always volunteer to drive her home. And unconsciously, she’d always find herself walking with him to his car. They’d talk while they walk, he’d throw jokes and she’d laugh hard at it. She’d never realize when was the last time she’d been this close with her co-star.
And I almost brought him up
“You know, you’re the only male co-star I’m close with. The others couldn’t break down my walls.” Hyesoo says, they’re on break after filming the 3rd episode of Hyena. Ji Hoon doesn’t say anything, which only happens when he’s eating something. He swallowed his food then drank from his water bottle. “Well, of course, there are co-stars that I--” Ji Hoon raises his hand to stop her from talking.
But you start to talk about the movies that your family watches
“You know, my mom told me she watched every movie of yours? She told me she’s your number 1 fan.” Ji Hoon says after cutting Hyesoo’s sentence. Hyesoo’s expression softens, she was about to tell him her past relationships with her co-stars but he didn’t let her. She sighs in relief, “I should meet my number 1 fan, then.” She tells him as they smile to each other.
Every single Christmas and I won't talk about that
“Have you seen Tazza?” Hyesoo asks Ji Hoon unconsiously, as they were talking about their memorable movies. “Y-yes, w-why?” Ji Hoon’s face turns red as he remembers her scenes in that movie. “Tell me what you think about it.” Hyesoo can’t see his flushed face because she’s busy cooking. “Uhh, Tazza. Well..” Ji Hoon stutters, Hyesoo looks at him. “You’re blushing.” She teases.
And for the first time, what's past is past
They’d get lost to their kiss. If only the crew wasn’t there and they’d get to savour this moment, she knows she’d be delighted. When they wrapped up, Ji Hoon approached her as usual. “Let’s eat.” He sounds more confident now than before. For some reason, she sees him as a man now more than ever.
'Cause you throw your head back laughing like a little kid
Hyesoo didn’t think about everything else when she took this project. She took it without knowing she’d find something else. She took it because she knew the role was made for her. It’s just occured to her, that she’d find the one who’s also made for her. Across her room, where Geum Ja’s office resides, she’d hear Ji Hoon’s laugh because of the crew and Ga Gi Hyeok.
I think it's strange that you think I'm funny 'cause he never did
Just like the first time she’d heard him laugh, she amusingly looks at him as he jokes around. Then they’d meet each other’s gaze and chuckles. Hyesoo didn’t think she’d find a childish man, so raw and genuine, but still looks so manly to her.
I've been spending the last eight months thinking all love ever does is break and burn and end
After all of her failed relationships, she thought she’d never find love again. Not to mention, at her age, she didn’t think love would find her again. When she didn’t expect it the most, when she’s already given up.
Then on a Wednesday in a café I watched it begin again
And now, love found her again. There he is, across her room. She watches him joke around and play like a kid. She knew then she’s screwed.
Then on a Wednesday in a café I watched it begin again
She’d watch him laugh and then her heart sank. She’s in love.

day6 jae college au // we're not the same (3/?)
pairing: day6 jae x oc
genre: fluff
words: 1.3k
-
"Hello? Earth to Jae?" Jae snapped back to reality as Sungjin waved his hand in front of his face to catch his attention.
"Huh? What were you saying?" He asked.
"I said, Wonpil suggested that we end tonight's set with You Were Beautiful so we're going to make minor adjustments. Is there something wrong?"
"No. I just.. didn't get enough sleep last night." Jae lied.
Well, it's not technically a lie since he barely managed to get a wink of sleep last night. But the main reason was her. She was going to watch them perform for the very first time and whenever Jae thinks about it, his stomach turns.
He has no problem performing in crowds. Although he sucks at class presentations because he is socially awkward af, singing and playing music are some of the very few things he can do confidently in front of many people.
It's the moment where he feels the most free - performing the songs he and Younghyun wrote, trying to convey a message to their listeners through their craft.
But the thought of her watching him sing makes him feel things and Wonpil and Jimin pressuring him on choosing the ‘right’ outfit is not helping at all.
He wanted to wear just his jeans, shirt and flannel like he normally does, but according to them he should look like a ‘snacc’ to impress her, even though he told them countless times that he doesn’t plan to.
“Jae, this is like your first ever encounter with a girl aside from me in like I don’t even know how many years. Let’s not waste this chance!” Jimin says as she goes through his closet.
“Seriously, are hoodies the only clothes you own?!”
Jimin finally settled with a black v-neck tee that Jae hasn’t seen in ages, plus tattered jeans courtesy of Younghyun (which took him like solid 5 minutes to wear cause his feet keeps on going into the wrong holes.)
There’s only two hours left before their gig. In the back of Jae’s head, he’s lowkey hoping she wouldn’t show up and he also wanted to beat up Wonpil for inviting her in the first place.
“You better not let your guard down tonight, hyung.” Dowoon tells him.
“What are you talking about?” He asks.
“Just... her attending our gig means she’s going to be in the club where there are tons of boys who will probably hit on her.”
“So? I don’t care, Dowoon. How many times do I have to tell you guys that I’m not interested?!”
“You’re just saying that cause you haven’t bonded with her that much. Let’s see if you still think the same after your project ends.”
“Whatever.”
When they reached the club, Jae immediately headed to the stage to check the sound system.
“Sound check, one... two... Check.. mic” He always want to make sure that all the equipments are working properly in order to make sure their performance will go well.
“I’ve checked everything already. Let’s just set up our gears and we’re good.” Younghyun calls out.
He headed backstage to get his guitar when he received a text from her which almost made him trip.
5:31 pm [new message] getting ready for the gig!! hope you guys will play my favorite song HAHA. fighting!!
Jae was tempted to ask her what her favourite song was, but he decided not to. He’ll just be bothered if it wasn’t included in their setlist and the members will sure as hell be suspicious if he suddenly wanted to add a new song.
Plus, he doesn’t care right? It’s not like he wants to impress her or anything.
A few minutes after 6, customers - which were mostly students from their university - started flooding the club. It’s no wonder though, since its the closest place to get cheap booze around the area.
Jae peeked through the curtain to check if she already arrived.
“Looking for her?” Sungjin teased.
“What?! No! I’m just checking the crowd.” He replies in an annoyed tone.
“And since when did you care about how many people were there?” Jimin adds, eyebrows raised.
“I swear, I’m so close to drop kicking all of you. Let’s just go out there and kill this set!”
Day6 finally went out of the stage. Jae scanned the crowed and saw familiar faces, and then her, who stood out in the sea of people.
Despite the clubs dim lights, he saw her clearly, as if there was a non-existent spotlight on her. She saw him looking at her and waved at his direction, and Jae gave an awkward smile before averting his gaze as fast as he could.
“Hi everyone. We’re Day6.” Sungjin, the one in charge of greetings, begins.
“We’ll be your company for tonight. First song is called ‘Congratulations’”.
As soon as the music played, Jae’s nervousness started to fade. The only thing that’s on his mind is singing to the beat and playing his guitar as if it’s his last performance.
Seeing the crowd waving their hands up in the air and hearing them sing along to every song is one of the reasons why Jae does music.
The feeling he gets whenever he sees people enjoy his craft is amazing — but it’s nothing compared to seeing her as a part of the crowd.
Her hair sticking to her forehead due to sweat (and how she manages to still look good is a mystery to him), her mouthing the lyrics as if she’s memorized all of them and her jumping like a kid when they play their more upbeat songs — all of those little things make Jae feel a different kind of way, a feeling he’s never have to deal with before.
“And for our last song, we’ll be singing everyone’s favorite “You Were Beautiful.””
The audience cheered but became quiet as soon as Wonpil hit the first note in his keyboard.
Jae sang his heart out and unconsciously looked for her in the crowd, but she wasn’t singing along this time.
She was just standing there, a sad look in her eyes, staring at... him? Or it could be any other member. Jae didn’t wanna assume.
As their set ended, the rest of the members headed to the bar to quench their thirst. Jae wanted to come along but Jimin stopped him before he could.
“Where do think your going Mr?”
“I’m thirsty.”
“Nuh-uh. The only thing you should be thirsty for is love. Go talk to her and ask her what she thinks of the set.” Jimin literally pushed him away and glared at him until he started walking towards her.
“Hey.” Jae greeted awkwardly.
“Hey! That was a nice set. I thought you guys wouldn’t be singing my favorite.”
“Uhhh.. which was?”
“You Were Beautiful! I mean, it’s everybody’s favorite but I’m not surprised. It’s a really heartfelt song!”
“It’s one of my favorite songs to perform too.” Jae says, although it’s not really his favorite. Okay fine, he admits it. He’s trying to impress her.
“Really? Is it hard to play? Dang, I wish I can play as good as you. But I can’t play any instruments to save my life.” She says pouting, making Jae’s heart do a little skip.
“Well... I can teach you sometime..” He starts saying and her eyes widen, “if you’d like-“ he hurriedly adds.
“Heol! Really? ARE YOU SERIOUS? Wait. You already said that! No take backs!!!” She says excitedly.
“Well, of course the project would have to be our first priority...” He says, as not to look like he’s liking the idea too much.
“Pft, who cares about the project? I’m learning how to play guitar!!!” She exclaims.
Maybe Dowoon is right. He’s not going to be feeling the same way when this project ends.
