Am I happy with this one? Nope. But eh. I kinda already want to wrap this little series up lol two more to go I think 😅

“Tommy, we have to move,” Lucy said, gripping his arm. Smoke thickened around them and the heat from the flames grew unbearable.

Tommy held his side, feeling the warm slick of blood beneath his hand. “I know,” he gritted out, keeping pressure on the wound.

The wreckage groaned ominously behind them, the flames licking closer, as they fed on spilled fuel.

“We have to go downhill, but avoid the ridge. If we slip, we’re done for.” Lucy shouted as she moved forward.

Tommy’s chest burned, both from the smoke and the guilt. He looked back once—at the destruction, the hiker they’d been transporting hadn’t made it. He’d died on impact.

“I’m sorry,” he said hoarsely, before following Lucy.
