Mike hears the cabin door open just as he starts ruffling through his duffel bag.

God, he knows he should have double checked his list, he's definitely missing bug spray, but it's fine, he can probably borrow some from Dustin or Lucas, or maybe even one of his campers -

Another duffel bag drops onto the floor next to him - yellow, with a blue stripe down the side, and a pair of worn Vans shuffle into his line of sight.

"Um, hi. I'm Will, your co-counselor this summer."

Mike huffs as he zips his bag shut, then stands up to face this guy - Will - that he's stuck with for the next four weeks and -

There are flowers in Mike's hair.

Blue ones, with silky, squat little petals radiating out from a pale yellow center. They rest across his brow in a circlet of woven stems, over top of the choppy bangs he's had since they were fifteen or so, when he started cutting his own hair.
