Moon Child

Ubbe's fascination with Máni had always been something his younger siblings didn't understand. He'd sit outside- even in winter- and watch the night sky. Following Máni's ever changing journey. Thinking up stories of his own about it and loving the gentle silvery light it gifted mankind.

The only one who understood had been his mother Aslaug. "You were born on a night of the fullest moon," she had told him. "Máni was on the rise and I could hear him call for you." Ubbe was sure he still called for him and that was why he couldn't stop watching at night. He remembered something Aslaug told him as a little boy as she tucked him in for the night, her voice warm and full of love, "Moonlight, moon child, have a good night."

Even decades later, under the night sky of the Golden Land, he swore he heard her whisper to him as he watched Máni, holding his own son when he got fussy and recited the words to calm him down with a kiss to his forehead.

Sometimes, athletes are great at the sport they play, which is never a bad thing. It typically shows that they truly love the sport they play for and that they are great at what they do. Especially the more competitive the sport becomes. The issue is that sometimes they’re so great at one sport that they are horrible at anything else. Now add in an element they are not familiar with at all and it spells a beautifully disastrous night out.

“It’s too cold to be outside.”

You look over at your boyfriend and giggle softly. Oscar’s sporting grey sweatpants, a black puffer jacket, a scar, some gloves, and one of Lando’s beanies. You see Oscar glance at you and you think for a moment how he looks like that angry kitten meme with the way his brows are together and he’s pouting slightly, arms crossed over his chest. You bring a gloved hand up to his cheek and gently pat his cheek, smiling.

“I told you it would be cold!”

“But you’re always cold y/n. I love you so much but you are not a good indication of what is and is not cold.”

You laugh softly which gets Oscar to smile as he waddles a bit closer to you, huddling in for some warmth while the two of you watch kids and parents on the ice rink as others move around you two.

You had decided you wanted to go ice skating. You had gone ice skating a few times but you were not good at it at all. Oscar, being the wonderful boyfriend he is, had agreed to go with you. To make things easier, the two of you went down to the town square to go skating. It’s not an actual ice rink so it’s already going to be disastrous but it’ll be fun. Though once you guys had arrived, Oscar was regretting his decisions. He didn’t outright tell you but you could tell by the way he was shivering under his jacket and how you guys have been lingering outside the ice skating rink.

“We don’t have to go ice skating.” You remind Oscar.

“No.” Oscar shakes his head, “you want to go ice skating. We’re going to go ice skating.” Oscar sounds determined. “We’re just going to give it another minute and then go skating.”

“Okay…” You say a bit uncertain. You aren’t sure why you’re waiting another minute but you chalk it up to Oscar needing to decide what excuse to give Andres and Zak if he sprains an ankle or something. What you don’t realize is Oscar is just buying time as Lando sneaks up behind the two of you and grabs you by your waist causing you to squeal out of surprise and Oscar almost jumping out of his skin.

“Boo!” Lando shouts with a grin.

“Ah! Lando!”

“Jesus,” Oscar breathes, “There you are.”

You happily turn yourself around in Lando’s arms and hug your other boyfriend tightly. Lando told you that he was probably hanging out with Max F. which was fine. You knew how close the two of them are and how after the whirlwind of the season the media forced Lando to have, he really needed time with his friends. You didn’t expect Lando to surprise you.

“Wait–you knew?!”

“Of course I knew.” Oscar looks at you and smiles, “why do you think I was buying time to not skate?”

“Well, I just thought that you were trying to figure out what excuse to tell Andres and Zak if you ended up injuring yourself or something,” you admit which gets Lando to laugh as Oscar’s cheeks flush red and continues to get a darker shade hearing Lando laugh. He opens his mouth to say something but closes it because he has nothing to counter. You giggle widely while Oscar gently shoves Lando before he speaks. “No,” Oscar murmurs, “I had texted Lando and he wanted to go ice skating so he flew out to ice skate with us.” 

“No, I flew out to see my beautiful girlfriend and boyfriend. Ice skating is just an added bonus which, speaking of, we should get to~” Lando sings as he starts dragging you to the little booth to pay for skates. You catch Oscar’s sleeve and drag the younger Aussie along who just follows the two of you happily. 

Once you got your skates on and laced up, you waddled to the rink. You hold the side as you step on and tuck yourself to the side of the rink as close as you can. Oscar follows you and nearly busts ass behind you when he lets out a slight noise of surprise before he practically slams himself into the side of the rink to keep himself up right. You turn to look at him to see Lando jet onto the rink and immediately eat shit. “Lando!” 

Lando stands up with ease wobbly on his skates as he brushes himself off. “I’m okay!”

“Do not injure yourself, please.” Oscar says as he stays to the side of the rink. He shakily holds a hand out which Lando takes and you giggle at Lando’s amazement when Oscar pulls the older driver to him. You glide back over and wiggle in between the two McLaren drivers as Lando complains he will not injure himself but he doesn’t have the best track record.

“We can argue as we skate!” You interject.

Lando happily takes the charge even though he’s horrible. You laugh seeing him “skate” which is more of him trying to run with blades on the bottom of his feet. You leave poor Oscar to fend for himself when Lando got too far ahead to help him up when he fell. Once or twice Lando can not find his footing and take you down with him as you two cackle loudly before Oscar finally makes his way over to help the two of you up. At one point you’re bent over to help Lando up. You almost jump when someone gently runs into you and you turn your head seeing Oscar, who is now holding your hips so he doesn't knock you over.

“Babe.” You start and grin as you look him once over, “If you want to fuck me all you have to do is ask.”

Oscar’s face turns red as he squeezes your hips. “Don’t threaten me with a good time.” He murmurs before being brave enough to move around and helps Lando up as well. A mistake, on the Aussie’s part.

You watch Lando keep his grip on Oscar’s hand before he’s pulling the younger driver around the ice rink and away from the safety of the railing. Oscar tries to protest but it’s to no avail as you glide the best you can after the two McLaren drivers. You get some photos but none of them are good. They’re blurry from Lando and Oscar falling or from you laughing so hard as Oscar tries so hard not to fall down with Lando which is what brings his demise. 

You eventually manage to get the two McLaren drivers off the ice rink. Oscar was more than happy to get off the ice but Lando being Lando took off. You chased him down on the rink, which wasn’t hard since he’s not very good on ice skates. You can confidently but lovingly say that he’s not even decent on the ice with how Lando keeps losing his balance and almost eating shit while trying to skate away from you. You manage to drag Lando to the entrance where Oscar assists by picking Lando up and carrying him to the bench.

You sit next to Lando and the two of you giggle as Oscar starts to unlace Lando’s skates before taking them off. He then moves to do the same thing to you before giving the two of you your shoes as he goes to return the skates. You and Lando get your shoes on before standing as Oscar comes back. 

“Well, that was fun!” Lando grins.

“That was something, for sure.” Oscar remarks, “personally I don’t think ice skating is for me.” Pulling you into his side, he kisses the top of your forehead, “but I will gladly watch next time.”

You giggle softly, “will Lando and I get the princess treatment again of you helping us with our skates on and off?”

“Yeah Osc,” Lando scoots over to Oscar’s other side, “you gonna give us both the princess treatment?” Lando smirks.

Oscar’s face flushes. You and Lando can’t help but laugh as you both kiss his cheek.

“Well, I don’t know about the two of you but I am starving.” Lando leans back.

“Is it because Max wouldn’t let you eat expired food?” Oscar asks.

“Or did you forget to eat?” You add.

Lando makes a noise of offense as you and Oscar burst into gentle laughter. You gently hold Lando’s face while Oscar kisses his forehead, “we tease out of love,” Oscar murmurs. “Now come on, why don’t you pick where we eat, yeah?”

Lando glares playfully at Oscar before breaking into a grin as you smother Lando in kisses. “Pick quick, it’s cold.”

“Okay! Okay come on!” Lando grabs your hand and Oscar’s hand before leading you two off to the food court.

what are your top ten fav bl's of all time?

Hey Anon! I had to take some time to think about this. It's hard for me to choose things like this! You're really putting me on the spot lol. Here we go tho...I might cheat a little.

To My Star. Both 1 and 2. I love Seo Joon's and Ji Woo's story. I love their relationship dynamic. I loved how protective they were of each other. Both Ji Woo and Seo Joon are complex characters with layers that you can really bite into and analyze many ways. I know a lot of people were not fans of s2 but that was one series where I truly ate up the angst. Ji Woo is a hard character to understand unless you really take the time to watch the series and focus on his behaviors. You'll never, ever catch me talking bad about TMS.

Gameboys the Series. Both the seasons and the movie. CaiReel have such a modern and relatable love story. I think it being a series about finding relationships in the middle of a global pandemic while we were ALL sharing the same plight really stood out. I felt like I made new friends while watching that series. Also for s1 to be shot completely on an iPhone and for most of the actors to not actually be filming their scenes at the same time, I was BLOWN away by the quality AND chemistry. That series made me SOB and that is also something I consider impressive. If it can make me cry then it's certified gold.

Utsukushii Kare. Both seasons and the movie. This is another series with complex main characters. Hira deals with his general uninterest in damn near everything EXCEPT Kiyoi and photography. And Kiyoi deals with his need for attention even if he generally doesn't like people because they always disappoint him. It's interesting to see how they handle their seemingly unbalanced relationship. Hira is willing to give Kiyoi all the love he requires and not get close (which is normally what Kiyoi wants) and Kiyoi learns that with Hira he wants a real true love and relationship and that's quite a task when the man you love doesn't value himself. It's just interesting seeing the growth between them.

Color Rush S1. I love the way they tackle the soulmates trope, and explore the darker side to the obsession that could happen once you find your perfect match ESPECIALLY when that match can help you see a full picture. Yeon Woo struggles with a myriad of thoughts and fears as he does his best not to get close to Yoo Han even though Yoo Han is serving up himself on a silver platter with tantalizing promises of helping him learn the colors he craves to see. Yeon Woo becomes obsessed, but little does he know that Yoo Han is also obsessed because Yeon Woo also helps Yoo Han see a clearer picture. But maybe that obsession is really just them falling in love and not knowing what to call it.

Moonlight Chicken. Messy and relatable to a person like me who is smack dab in the middle of the age groups involved. This series really showcases how messy romances can be. It shows how hard it can be to close the door to a chapter you thought would end happily. This series shows how hard it can be to move on when a normally open door shuts in your face suddenly and forever. It shows how a chapter that starts off terrible can lead you into the most thrilling moment of your life. It shows that the last chapter you finished might have you TERRIFIED to move on to the next one. Stuck. This was a series I found difficult to dislike any of the characters even if they were being terrible. Emotions were high and reactions were warranted. This was a series where I felt like people were allowed to feel the way they were feeling.

We Best Love. Yes, both seasons. Shu Yi and Shi De had such an up and down ship. Shi De went through such a roundabout way to get close to Shu Yi and I really enjoyed watching them become friends. I enjoyed watching Shu Yi come to realize he was in love. I wanted to beat Shi De up in s2 for ghosting Shu Yi and I was enjoying watching Shu Yi get his lick back, but really he was just looking for answers so he can decide if he was stupid for wanting to forgive Shi De the moment he saw him again. It's another fun and messy series.

Lovely Writer. I LOVE Gene ok. He really made me love the series because he was such a bomb ass character. I also found Nubsib's psycho/stalkerish tendencies quite entertaining because he was so polite about it. I love that the series took stabs at all the things wrong with the BL community while simultaneously having the main character be an actor in one of the most toxic fake BLs I've ever seen. Just meta on top of meta. Satire in the form of a trendy BL within a BL.

History 3: MODC. Salt run aside, I just really loved this series. Can't believe a series about the shy kid falling in love with his bully is a fave. That sentence alone would make it problematic af...not to mention the questionable age gap between the 2nd couple. But it was beautifully constructed. Hao Ting found the best version of himself in Xi Gu and Xi Gu found a brighter side to life with Hao Ting. And they were WAYYYYY into each other and Hao Ting did put in his work to be forgiven. I do my best not to overthink Zhi Gang's age difference from Sun Bo because it's such a norm in Taiwanese BL. It's kind of interesting to see their relationship play out. Zhi Gang definitely has his hangups with the age gap and Sun Bo just doesn't care.

Blueming. Such a laid back series. Si Won is just a sweetheart dealing with self-esteem issues trying to make his presence known in life so he can get the best out of his university experience. And Da Un is just that effortlessly cool guy Si Won strives to be like. He can't even fathom the idea of such a cool guy having a crush on him that he takes the flirting as arrogance lmao. I think it's sweet that Da Un helps uplift Si Won and I think it's sweet that Si On showed Da Un the attention he never got at home.

Ingredients the Series. Just a sweet lil slice of life miniseries. It fills me with joy to watch Tops and Win pine after each other as Win works on his music and Tops works on his cooking and they live together symbiotically. There's not too much to this series. It relies heavily on food and chemistry and that's perfectly perfect for me.

I choose characters that date older men with a big age gap. Yes, I am fully aware that some of them aren't actually old (some are even below 40), but I took in consideration the age compared to their love interest and the way the character act. For example Minato acts like an old men and he has a really big gap compared to Shintaro, the same as triage. But the preference while choosing (with the limited slots) were those, that's why for example lovely writer didn't show up, although you can still vote in other)

The sole reason for me creating this list! Look, I dropped Bake Me Please almost immediately because it just wasn't for me BUT I've been lowkey watching through my dash. And let me tell you, my fingers gain consciousness and hit reblog everytime this baby's face pops up because...well...LOOK AT HIM. He is beautiful and he should get the guy (hehe get it) in the end idc.

2) Yok from Not Me (2021)

Yok is such a beloved character and for good reason! He is sexy, he is gay, he sets buildings on fire and steals cops' wallets on accident because HOW WAS HE SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT GUY HE WAS STALKING WAS A COP??? I love you Yok, never change.

3) Palm from Never Let Me Go/ OurSkyy2 (2022-23)

The anger I felt for all the injustice and mistreatment our beautiful Palm had to face in this show took literal years off my life. It's rare for me to get this passionately protective over a character and yet here we are, in the Palm Protection Squad headquarters. Even Nueng is on the watchlist!

4) Tonhon from Tonhon Chonlatee (2020)

Not to out myself as an enjoyer of silly goofy times , but I did have fun watching Fish Upon The Sky and Secret Crush On You, so OFCOURSE I thought I would like this one too but GOD was it rough. Did I still finish it? Yes. Did I fawn over PoddKhao pairing and have been quietly praying for some kind of reunion ever since? Also yes. Was I foaming at the mouth barking everytime Tonhon AKA Podd was on my screen? I'm not gonna comment without lawyer present.

5) Tew from My Dear Gangster Oppa (2023)

Speaking of Tonhon Chonlatee...AH! Ai Long Nhai (TC's spiritual prequel of sorts) was sure...something. And by something I mean I saw Meen and decided I will never speak ill of men ever again, feminism quite literally left my body. And then a year later My Dear Gangster Oppa came out and guess what??! MEEN IS THE GANGSTER OPPA! Dreams really do come true, kids.

6) Wen from Moonlight Chicken (2023)

(or Tian from ATOATS or Mueang Nan fron FUTS). Mix...I will eat you. Always so dewy and healthy and sparkly-eyed. But Wen from Moonlight Chicken is something out of the realm of my imagination. The sex appeal? The maturity?? The gentleness??!! Somebody sedate me before I say something I will not be able to justify in court.

7) Vee from Love Mechanics (2022)

He is a pretty bisexual who makes the most abhorrent stupid decisions known to men and then weeps and suffers for them WHAT MORE DO YOU NEED? Once again, is the show flawless or even remotely coherent? Absolutely not. That being said Vee brought me so much joy by being stupid I'm forever grateful.

8) Prapai from Love In The Air (2022)

To a certain extent I've enjoyed every MAME show I've watched. To do that you need to possess the rare ability called "I abandoned every shred of moral integrity to gawk at hot men". And Prapai? MAN is this bitch hot. Tall dark handsome? Check! Bisexual on a bike? Check! Stubborn and annoying? CHECK!

15 Days BL Challenge the Quadriquel (part 4)

Okay well might as well squeeze in this new edition to the 2024 BL Challenge before the year ends in a few weeks.

Thanks to @pinkkop for gifting us pt 4. I'm super excited for this!!! Also here is the OG post if you want to start lol.

46. BL you want to experience again for the first time

Moonlight Chicken. The high anticipation and expectations I had for this series were met and honestly it was a 10/10 series and experience for me. I would love to witness that messiness again. I loved every single thing about MC.

Cherry Magic. PERFECTION! The emotions I felt then I have never felt again. Such a simple, sweet, and romantic series. I would love to see that again for the first time.

Ghost Host Ghost House. This one I wish I had experienced when it was airing. I wish it had a bigger hype because it really was an excellent series. This is one of the only series I watched where I felt the time jump was necessary. I would defend it every time. Also the plot is super interesting and gripping and I adored the characters.

History 3: Make Our Days Count. Oh gawd to experience that pain again for the first time would hurt so good. I think MODC is my fave installment of the HIStory franchise and I would gladly experience that whole ride again for the first time.
