Some davenzi fic recs

So a few days ago @davenzs asked for some davenzi fic recs.  Because I’m a nice person (but mostly because I wanted to reread some old favourites) I started trawling through my history to find some of my faves.  It was a little frustrating and I know I’ve missed a few that I love because I can’t remember names and/or authors.  But here - have a few of the fics that I have enjoyed over the last year or so.  I have a very specific taste set and several very popular tropes that I dislike, so this is by no means exhaustive and I’m sure other people have other great fics they can rec that fit outside my very small parameters (feel free to let us know what they are!).  This is a mixture of lengths and dates when they were written, so I put them in alphabetical order and didn’t separate out one shots from chaptered fics ... have fun with that 💜

 "Which role are you gonna audition for?" Amira asks. Matteo smirks at her and holds back a chuckle.

 "Well, I thought I'd go for a lead role, the real beauty Juliet," he says with a small laugh. Amira rolls her eyes.

 "You're gonna regret that, all the girls in here will chop your dick off to get that role," she laughs.

 "Pick a scene to audition with," she smirks when Matteo stares at her like a deer caught in headlights. He sits down on the steps and flips through the script.

 He mouths along to some of the lines before he gets the intrusive feeling that he's being watched, he looks up from the script and whips his head around, his eyes meet deep brown eyes. The boy smiles kindly at him and tilts his head a little bit, Matteo feels a blush creep up his neck and take up permanent residency on his cheeks.

I would definitely recommend “You forgot this” by davidsenzi, it’s completed at 27 chapters and explore some amazing themes including both the boys being Ace and Matteo coming out as Ace.

Everything by @bruisingknees is amazing, there most recent fic ‘I try not to think about it too much’ is very sweet feature jealous!david !!

Chapter 3 of ‘come what may’ by eldee was posted a few days back and is stunning !!! I want it as a hard copy novel I love it so much.

And final chapter 3 of ‘blister in the sun’ by zeldasayre which is about David only living in the same town as Matteo during the summer and how things change as they change and grow.

“Matteo Florenzi, have you selected a partner?” Mr. McKinnon’s voice slices through the thick air of Matteo’s thoughts and he’s brought back to the surface of reality. He hazily blinks for a few seconds before shaking his head, ending it with a shrug to show his carelessness of it all. Mr. McKinnon simply sighs before he gestures over towards a boy in the front row and lifts his hand to point at Matteo. Matteo felts like the point is meant to fracture him; to split him apart until he’s nothing, left for strangers to pick apart like a project. He rubs his thumb across the injury from yesterday as if the repeated motion transpires meant to soothe him. It hurts instead.

“David, there’s your partner. I’m sure you two will get along fantastically.” The last word drips on the tip of his tongue and Matteo knows it’s daunting. It’s a mockery of the fact that when Matteo and David make eye contact, they know exactly why the teacher drawls like that.

They aren’t known to get along.

Matteo and David are assigned as partners for a final project under the topic of “Life”. Except there are two problems that Matteo has with this: One. Matteo hasn’t paid attention in the class at all and is purely using it for a G.P.A. booster. Two. David Schriebner, in all of his 5'6 glory, cannot stand Matteo.

Summary:  David touched his palm to the surface of the wood, and closed his own eyes. To be on the other side where he’d been just moments before; to be lying there next to the boy, hands and feet lined up together and nearly touching. To reach inside his mouth and pry those two words loose from his throat, wrap his fingers around them and pull them out and cast them aside like so much refuse. To look at him, then, not even to touch - just look. To stay until the silence became a comfort again. Summary:  Just because Matteo is kind of David’s date at this party, Laura and her friends shouldn’t assume that Matteo and David are dating - but they’re assuming just that anyway, and that means a lot of trouble for Matteo, who harbors big secret feelings for his friend. It could be so nice if everything everyone thought was true, especially tonight when David is extra affectionate. But these wrong assumptions get Matteo in a lot of trouble, and he’s just trying to survive this party night without getting hurt too much. If only he could talk to David about it all…

I started partway through July so there’s only a few here.  I have enough to probably do one more month but then I’m all out of things I know about.  So please, send me some recs of your own.  I’d love to read some new stuff and put some more on my list!!

Wow. Just wow. I always say these asks are tricky, but this truly is. I have been so lucky, gotten so many lovely comments and/ or reviews. More than I deserve, probably. The feedback and response I have gotten from my beta readers and friends... wow. Just wow. It amazes me how readers in my fandoms manage to pick out the most amazing things from the stuff I write (and paint).I especially want to mention @evakuality, @arindwell, @mynameisnotthepoint, @canonicallyanxious, @i-am-a-fairytale, @saveitforthesongs, @davidlynchschreibner, @kapplebougher, @julerocks but also a lot of other commenters that I don’t know the Tumblrs of. I’m also grateful for every mention, from recs and quotes and everything in between. Blogs like @davenzi-recs, @evak-fic-rec-turtleanon, and @druckficquotes are a true blessing to the Druck fandom. 

I can’t pick The Most Memorable comment of 2019, it’s impossible, but I can pick one that really got to me, from Thousand spires and thousand bridges:

Hfghhfhgggg I really don’t know how to start..I started reading this fic today and I was completely hooked right away. I don’t whether it was the melancholic mood of the story that pulled me in or the way both David and Matteo came to life in your writing.

This just made me feel SO much, so much more than I expected. At first, i found myself in awe of how beautifully written everything was. How you wrote what Matteo was feeling with such care...it literally felt like I was reading poetry.

I really felt his want and desperation for David. And I also felt David’s anxiousness around Matteo. Somewhere as I was reading, I was reminded of my first love. I remembered the last few weeks when I was so desperately holding onto them, knowing that it was over. I remembered being confused like Matteo and constantly asking myself “they say they love me so why do they say they have to leave?”. Reading this story really brought the memories back because I felt for Matteo and at times I felt hopeless for him too.

This was way too long and got way too emotional but I guess I was trying to say that your writing made me feel all kinds of emotions. It’s definitely bittersweet and I’m looking forward to the next chapter. Hopefully Matteo will get his answers and David will finally tell him everything that’s holding him back

Ok I'm doing them from fave to least fave

Crisana: top 5 maybe top 3 fave ship of all times I love them to death I think they balance each other out so well and they are so loving and gentle but also playful and I loooove their chemistry. Also cris is by far my favorite isak I just fucking love her and her harshness and her insecurities and her friendship with amira and her relationship with Dani and her getting the dream goth girlfriend every wlw wants and watching her and them fall in love was and is amazing! Also best by far post their season evak I love that they argue and are not perfect but that they are so in love with each other and I'm gonna stop myself cause I can talk about them for ever. Also the only evak I read fic about tho I find it difficult sometimes tbh just cause it's weird to read them in English when they talk Spanish in my head also if I ever get brave enough to publish anything I write is probably gonna be about them cause I've written a couple stuff for class that was basically a crisana fic with different names

Og Evak: they got me into skam and even tho the fandom has very much made me less interested in them I still think their s3 canon version is great. I love their dynamic I love how dumb in love even is for isak sometimes (like fuck the paper towels thing everyone that writes him as a smooth chill cool dude is so wrong about him) and I think some of their scenes are fuckin masterpieces. I hate fanon evak they read as yaoi original characters 90% of the time to me

Davenzi: I love them and they are maybe my n2 actually but I did evak cause I'm never gonna be over skam clearly. I looooove how playful they are how much more teen they feel that any other evak I kind of hate some of the writing in druck s3 but I think most of their scenes are amazing (I specially specially love their underwater scene maybe over any other first kiss scene), the reason I dont like them as much as other evaks is that I'm not a hugeeee Matteo fan maybe cause he hits a bit too close to home. Havent really gotten into any fic but if anyone got this far into my ramblings and has any recs I would love to read it!

Shay and American even: this is def cheating but I love them and I really want to see them so please mark I'm gonna guillotine you if you dont renew skam Austin

Elu: I think they are cute? Just a bit too much for me tbh. And their fandom is a lot too much for me. I think they have some scenes that work really well (the piano scene fully convinced me to watch skam fr s3 when I was not feeling it at all) and I think they are obviously very in love but I dont find their dynamic or them individually as characters very interesting. I def get why so many people love them spexially cause they were the first evak (that didnt had an n word in it but) season a lot of people watched but they are just not for me

Sobbe? Is that the official ship name?: I think they have a lot of potential but their season fucked them, I also dont like sander hes my least favorite even (sorry I worked in retail and I'm never gonna be over that first scene). I kind of dont get why they are together at all tbh (if someone called me a slur and implied I was a rapists I wouldn't date them but that's just me). I think some of their scenes work great (specially the music choices) but besides that and uwu white pretty gays I dont get the appeal at all

Nicotino (I'm sure I'm fucking up some double letters but): they have the best ship name but besides the n word issue they have no chemistry and I found the profoundly boring. If you love them good for you but it's a no from me

i didn’t find anything new, i would love to find more and i don’t scroll through ao3 because i end up reading offensive ones than good ones and it ruins my mood entirely. this one time, the summary looked SO GOOD, and it was just awful the way they wrote it, character assassination at it’s finest. 

i can tell you the blogs i lurk to find davenzi fics that are just *chef’s kiss*
