While everyone is looking at homestuck stuff today might as well get a shoutout for my currently unnamed music au featuring pitch vriskezi

(under the cut this time is only au stuff! Noone is gonna ask so might as well get the rant out now)

It’s basically a meteorstuck kinda au? Except I decided to say fuck it all the trolls are alive (mostly because I have a few songs in my playlist that are very much feferi<>sollox vibe and I kinda need them alive to be able to sing yknow)

So uh. Trolls are kinda bug-like. And they communicate with words, yes, but also with dancing, like bees? A lot of body language, especially when it comes to your quadrants; leaning on your moirail’s shoulder, grabbing your kismesis’ wrist to stop them from turning away from you... and also just actual dancing and stuff. So, trolls dance. But then Dave and Rose get on the meteor and teach them about how humans communicate. With music.

Cuz like, in the au, humans can get on the same wavelength as other humans via song. Singing is a way a human shows how they feel or think about anything at any given moment. You gotta learn the lyrics (unlike my other music au, which is also a magic au where the lyrics are chosen for you by fate gods aka me specifically and you dont gotta know the lyrics before singing) but like its sorta a bonding thing? and humans are social creatures so they gotta sing every once in a while or they get sadge

so the kids teach the trolls how to sing and thats all really fun and cool and whatever. meanwhile I’ve fallen prey to karkezi flushed propaganda via fanfiction so now Im sitting in the “what if dave and terezi moirails” because they’re my favorite beta kid&troll and the dynamic they have in canon makes my insides fluffy in the way a good moirallegiance gotta get outta you yknow.

Anyways timeskip to after they win Im very much ignoring how by that point both sessions were lost and I decided both of the groups win and like the humans make a new earth ig and like they still have their godtier stuff (at this point Im just picking and choosing what I want based on random music from my 600 songs playlist being put on shuffle). and uh. Well dave becomes a film person (I wanted to say director but also he writes the movies so also scriptwriter and just. he makes movies). And decides to make actual homestuck’s plot into a 12 movies and ongoing film franchise that is basically as well known as like. star wars or whatever. but bigger bc I never actually watched star wars so I only know about it the basic stuff a person who once dated someone who watched all the star wars movies enough times to quote them offhandedly would.

anyways dave is stuck with the part where the trolls get actually introduced to the audience in non-text form and is like “can I convince a bunch of actors to dye themselves grey and put candycorn looking horns on their heads without anyone thinking Ive lost it” when actual trolls (all 12 beta trolls+a bunch of friendsim trolls I thought would be fun to put in+unnamed background trolls for the confusion of wtf is sgrub) land a ship in the middle of area 51 and immediately get cornered by human guards patrolling the area in case aliens ever crashed there.

Anyways is now a good time to mention rose grew up to become the person who runs area 51 because she is and apparently at some point during the 3 years on the meteor she pulled like feferi and karkat aside to go “yo so when we win the games if yall wanna stop by earth 2.0 Imma go run our alien communication center so just ask the people there for rose lalonde yea” and uhh. they do. the other trolls in the background are Confusion over who tf this rose lalonde person is. the human guards are confused abt how tf the aliens know the full name of their leader bc usually the aliens just go “we want to speak to ur manager” or whatever so one of them takes their walkie talkie and talks to her and rose is like “oh hey they made it btw is one of them wearing green and looks like a vampire tell her I love her” to which kanaya fckn melts ig. soft gfs.

and uhh. well at this point except rose all the other beta kids can kinda teleport? Jade is still part-dog, john is wimdy, dave stops time and powerwalks over then unpauses time... rose just calls her limo like “dude I gotta get to this specific part of the desert plz” and by then dave is having a passionate debate with the guards about how trolls are actually awesome and the guard is like “they havent sang anything to make me think theyre intelligent species” or whatever and then the 12 main trolls do like. choreographed dancing with rainbow colors and stuff to various feel-good songs in my playlist. And then dave starts live streaming with scifi tech he alchemized during the game that he kept around like “yo ik theres rumors abt the trolls showing up for the next movie can we all give it up to my moirail and the rest of these lovely folk” to which the internet immediately implodes bc imagine fckn. idk. big time movie producer just starting a livestream in which he casually talks to a bunch of aliens while his half-dog bestie is floating the in background.

yeah and then the protagonist of friendsim sees that happening and goes to talk to the friendsim trolls who are there and thats fun and idk

dave is really good at assigning trolls random songs they should like. my playlist is almost entirely clown cult music its all violence and bright colors and yelling into the void and starting a revolution over the fact you suck at video games.

also the alpha kids are there. because dirk strider is my favorite homestuck character I want to dunk him in my tea like he’s a sad animal biscuit. he also gets a song where he and hal are being passive aggressive and sad about prince of heart stuff ig

Random thoughts while watching the Book of Boba Fett Episode Four:

*I want a Boba Fett on the back of a Bantha action figure. He can be in his Tusken garbs or his Beskar. I don’t care. I want.

*Boba taking Fennec Shand into the mod parlor where all the weird kids on Tatooine hang out was a smart, yet interesting choice. I love the music that they’re jamming to in the mod parlor as well. These kids are so f*^%ing peculiar. It feels kinda like they’re getting tats except instead of ink, these kids are getting their eyes and spines removed and replaced with droid parts. I wonder if it pisses their parents off like tattoos do here. Do they have the same conversations, like, “Goddamnit! Replacing your arm with a mechanical one is permanent, Peter! You’re going to regret it when you get old!”? I wonder if becoming a cyborg is as equally addictive as getting ink. Maybe someone should ask Vader or Grievous (or, uh, Fennec, I guess).

*Boba knows Fennec, but Fennec doesn’t recognize Boba.

*I am trying to decide if Fennec Shand is gay or just a badass. I don’t think Dave can help himself. The vast majority of the women characters that he creates are lesbians somehow. If he doesn’t do it in purpose, it’s impressive.

*I don’t cook a lot, but having one of those chopping droids might be nice… you know, in the event I need an onion or a head of lettuce chopped up.

*EV-9D9 went from Jabba’s chief of cyborg relations in The Return of the Jedi to kitchen duty? Bummer.

*I don’t know why, but the LEP servant droids are the most problematic, obnoxious little rats in Star Wars. They are always getting the protagonists in some bullshit. I want one of those too.

*Good old Slave One… it used to be my favorite ship… then Luthen Rael’s ship rocked my world. Now Slave One is kinda bullshit in comparison.

*Fennec is a beast and her shotgun is ridiculous.

*It’s almost as if Boba has forgotten how to fly his own ship. Like, damn dude, you’ve been flying it since you were in Kindergarten. WTF!? You’re f*^%ing it up!

*Fennec says, “What in the hell are you doing!?” And now I can’t get over how far the tentacles of evangelicalism have spread, and I am bummed that is a concept in the galaxy far, far away.

*Boba takes out the biker gang without remorse, which is peak Boba. This is the Boba Fett we know… showing no mercy or quarter. Though, you’re actually looking for the Pykes. That’s the answer to your question. Weak ass bikers couldn’t take out a village of Tuskens. Listen to Fennec.

*I find it interesting that “somehow” Boba’s armor is returned to him by Din Djarin. This doesn’t happen in this episode, obviously… but him staring into the Sarlacc pit reminds me of how random and unlikely that is to happen even on this planet let alone in a galaxy the size of the Star Wars’ galaxy.

*Sarlacc tries to eat Slave One. Slave One shoots. Sarlacc don’t care. Sarlacc hungry.

*I don’t blame Black Krrsantan for filling with random rage then beating the ever-loving shit out of the Trandoshans. I honestly don’t. I mean, I’ve never liked them (since Bossk, but definitely since they kidnapped, then hunted Ahsoka)… but the fight in Bette’s casino bar is excessive and completely unnecessary. It’s gratuitous violence.

*Bette’s monologue is not convincing anyone. Aaaannnnnnddd, Trandoshan lost an arm.

*I have to hope that Boba slaughtered the Pykes to take over the spice trading for himself. It seems like a very criminal, yet Boba Fett thing to do.

monthly game tag time!

september

1. Storyteller

very cute little game, had fun with this one 👍

2. Ori and the Blind Forest

ngl i thought i would like this game a lot more than i actually did. the graphics are gorgeous & the story is good, but the actual gameplay could be so goddamn frustrating at times. which i get is the point, seeing as it's a metroidvania, but idk. it was just kind of a meh experience. i don't regret playing it or anything, i just wish it had been a bit more forgiving.

3. The Case of the Golden Idol

a fun murder mystery type game with a very interesting overarching plot, though solving the cases could be very frustrating at times (through no fault of its own, of course, i'm just a bit of a dumbass). if you've played return of the obra dinn, you are VERY likely to enjoy this game 👍

4. Song of Horror

SUCH a good game! it was just exactly the kind of experience i was looking for. the way it built tension without relying too much on jumpscares, the creepy yet immersive atmosphere, the sound design- i could go on. i will say though, i don't think i would have ever finished the game if i didn't follow a guide, not because the game is extremely difficult, but because of the permadeath mechanic. it's interesting in theory, but in practice it did take me out of the story a bit. still, all in all it is a very good game. parts of it even reminded me of alice: madness returns, so that's an automatic plus 😊

5. Tomb Raider (2013)

this was a replay, but i've decided to start including replays, for my own convenience. 10/10 game, as always <3

such a challenging experience, but so, so worth it. a wonderful story with memorable & interesting characters, and such frustratingly fun gameplay. please please please play this game if you're a fan of stealth tactics games!!!!!!

I had a weird Criminal Minds dream. It's super fucking long.

Somehow me, JJ, Matt and Luke get kidnapped together. We're all still wearing our bullet proof vests and being kept in this room.

The unsub keeps somehow drugging us to feel weak so we don't fight back.

The unsub only keeps taking Luke and Matt out of the room for a chunk of time but when they come back they don't tell us wtf is going on.

And JJ and I don't ask, but we know they always come back looking a little more upset every fucking time.

Me and Matt are married and have kids. Whether they are the Simmons 5 or not idfk. I just remember talking to Matt and grabbing his face like "we are going to be okay. We'll get out of here and get back to the kids before we know it" and he snaps and says "you don't know that. We might die here".

So next time Matt and Luke leave me and JJ talk about what the fuck is going on. And we're like we gotta just ask them wtf. We don't get a chance because then the unsub takes us out of the room. We're in an abandoned building that's falling apart.

The unsub ties us up. We have no fucking clue where Matt and Luke are.

JJ and my chairs are facing each other. To the left of us is this giant window we can't see through until a light turns on and we see Matt and Luke.

The unsub tells us over some intercom if we answer a few questions correctly we'll all live. But if we lie we die. We have three strikes.

Their voice is distorted like a voice changer.

Me and JJ agree there is no fucking lie worth dying for. Unsub asks us first our relationships with Matt and Luke. JJ says friends. I say husband and good friend.

Unsub said I've got my first strike and I'm like wtf? Then the unsub asks me if I've ever lied to Matt. And I'm like yeah it's happened but nothing major.

Get my second strike.

Unsub says my third strike puts a bullet in Matt's head and I don't fucking understand because I've been telling the truth.

Unsub asks JJ some questions. She doesn't get a single strike.

Then it's my turn again.

Unsub asks me if I've ever cheated on Matt. And I look at Matt and he's trying to say something to me through the glass but I cannot hear him or read his lips.

And JJ asks "is that what this is about?" trying to buy me more time to try to understand what Matt is saying. And JJ lies through her teeth about cheating on Will.

That gets her, her first strike.

Realizing that I cannot fucking understand him, I read his lips saying "I love you". I return it.

The unsub repeats the question.

Being that I've gotten the strikes while I've told the truth I figure I'd try lying this time.

And I say yes I have cheated on Matt. I lie about having an affair with Luke because I'm starting to realize the unsub is convinced that's a thing based on the first question.

The unsub comes into the room and points a gun at my head, telling Matt that they're doing him a favor. And he's clearly upset, trying to get out of the chair he's tied to.

Desperate I say "killing me won't undo the pain your wife caused". I buy myself time by explaining the bullshit profile I have just in time for the team to come to our rescue.

Emily starts talking over the intercom that they found the unsub's daughter and if they want to see her they cannot harm me. The unsub says that ridding the world of people like me is their purpose and their daughter will understand.

And I'm just like why is this how I die? I keep telling Matt I love him and to tell our kids I love them. I'm crying because I don't want to die because someone else is convinced I'm guilty of something I didn't fucking do.

A little girl's voice comes over the intercom begging their mom (the unsub) to let them (us) go. Apparently wherever the intercom mic is there are cameras into our room so Emily says "don't let the last thing your daughter sees of you be this".

That's what I was trying to tell you to do". And he just holds me for a few minutes as I get it all out of my system. Finally once I calm down, he says "let's go home".

In that sort of mood, so here’s a text dump of all my totally factual Choices opinions that are by no means subjective and personal from over 5 years of knowing the app

- Abbie and Tyler were bad friends and a bad couple. They get progressively worse after TFM.

- Professor Vasquez is what Professor Hunt could have been before they realized how many people were attracted to the rude professor/mentor figure types. It’s been down hill from there.

- Kaitlyn, although not perfect, has the better storyline across all the TFM books that is consistent with her character. Everyone else either gets sabotaged or they’re Abbie+Tyler.

- The writers of TFM started to lose what the series was about with The Sophomore aka the book immediately after Vasquez dies and FULLY lost it with The Junior. TFM should’ve ended with book 4 aka the summer road trip.

- The Junior is fucking awful. It proves the writers did not know what to do with the series once Vasquez died.

- Sebastian did not need to be redeemed and they certainly did not need to retcon B2 to make him sympathetic. The fact that they make him more likable than Abbie and Tyler was a terrible sign. There were plenty of other side characters they should’ve expanded upon instead. *cough* Madison Eckhart *cough*

- A Most Wanted sequel would have not only completely gutted the point system, but implemented a forced and cliche romance between Sam and Dave that didn’t need to be there.

- Dom x Kenna is bad. And the insistence the writers had on their relationship sabotages Dom’s character and the multiple LI mechanic Choices has going on.

- Speaking of which. It’s hypocritical for a game called Choices, which promotes player choice on how they want to play to, insists that one love interest/romance route is superior/canon and focus most of the attention on that. Dom x Kenna, Chris Powell, Mark Collins, handsome strange (ame), the list goes on.

- Having said that... Val x Kenna is canon.

- Diavolos isn’t a bad character. In fact, including a Nevrakos ally was a good addition. The concept is very interesting. But the last book of the series was not the right place to introduce and develop a new LI.

- RoE isn’t that bad. I spent a lot of time making fun of this book and criticizing it. In truth, there have been worse books in the Choices library. The problem isn’t even so much that the writing was terrible, there’s just a frustrating amount of laziness. I don’t care if it was supposed to be like a soap opera, intentionally awful and over the top or whatever. That doesn’t mean they can’t give the writing more thought.

- Party!twin is the best playable character of the bunch.

- The grandmother is the true villain of RoE. Sure, she had her reasons and everything worked out in the end, but honestly... wtf.

- I don’t give a shit about The Royal Heir, TRR should’ve let us customize our MC and romance the prince as a guy. Honestly, if they’re really trying to rewrite the series or make a retelling using the PoV of the prince then I think they should ALSO write a new TRR with a fully customizable MC. If they did this, I might actually come back.

- Hana Lee is super pretty.

- The prince storyline is the only time the whole forced LI thing that PB is obsessed with has ever really work. And i know... duh, right? That’s the whole premise of the book: compete for the prince’s heart, maybe fall in love with someone else along the way. BUT LISTEN... the prince is so patient and kind towards you. He’s interested, but never forcefully. You look at other LIs in the early books and it’s by no means like that. Chris, Mark, even Drake in this book. There is an insistence, either from the character themselves or the writers, that you/your character is in love with them.

- Olivia should’ve been added as a LI. If Maxwell was added, she could’ve been added too. Especially if they were gonna add a whole sequel series.

- The Savannah plot line is bad, but more than anything I dislike how it casts Bertrand entirely as the bad guy. The guy made mistakes and definately not blameless, but the book treats it as if Savannah did nothing wrong and... oh boy... running away and living off the Beauomont’s money for years (?) in the city of paris with no job. That’s incredible.

- The LIs for Lovehacks should have been the friends group. Leah and Ben should’ve been recycled for a different series while Mark gets cut entirely and thrown in the trash. There were way too many characters in that book.

- I think more people need to accept that Mark and Chris were creeps in their first books. Chris gets a slight pass since he was a product of early choices focusing on one LI (that they never learned from), but Mark is a fucking creep. He first meets the MC while he was streaking in her lecture hall. Then he spots her and decides to chat up this hot college girl. Red flag. But somehow they’ve become close friends.

- The cast of HSS is great, I wouldn’t change it for anything, but I cannot explain how much it pained me, as someone who played the original HSS game, to see that original friend group walk away and leave me behind.

- Also I don’t like that they started pairing the original characters off with no context beyond existing in previous media. Sakura x Nishan or the Wes/Autumn/Julian love triangle, regardless of how good or bad they are, is kinda hollow if it’s just... there in the background.

- I dislike what they did with Mia/Katherine. Bad call to not only have them get together and break up off screen, but also make it a rough break up and have Katherine... idk, graduate or move schools so you default take Mia’s side. Not a fan.

- HSS b1 is one of the few books in the choices library to actually implement choice in a creative way through the three different school activities. It’s not perfect, but it was fun. Not only does it change the type of activities your character participates in, but also some of the characters you’ll interact. For example.. sure, Aiden is still a main character, but he’s much more prominent if you choose band while you get to interact with Mia and Sydney more in cheerleading. So even though Aiden feels less important than, say, Maria who is more involved in the main plot, it feels like you have a slightly different social group depending on what route to take. Again, not perfect, but I think that was neat.

- Then b2 went and ruined it by giving you a primary friend group. Can you imagine the power book 2 would’ve had if they gave the MC a different friend group based on what activity you were involved with in 1? And that affects who is involved in the main plot of 2? PB would never, but it would’ve been so cool. Imagine one play-through Ezra and Myra are apart of the your group to take down Isa, but in another it’s Payton, Sydney, and Mia.

- Talia and Tariq al-Assam were the student body president (either or both, doesn’t matter) before Maria Flores. It’s canon.

- Having Isa revealed to be a con-artist who is only mean and doing bad things because she is a criminal was a VERY LAZY way to take the story in B2. It would’ve been a lot more interesting to have her be mean. Just make her a regular principal who’s not good at her job aka doesn’t care for the students. Then you have MC speak up for the rights of the students. But instead MC finds out she’s a criminal, exposes her crimes, and everything goes back to normal.

- Adding Hunt (and dropping Addison) as an additional LI for RCD was a BAD move. Not only was it unfair (I’ll get to that), but RCD was already having trouble balancing four LIs. The last thing it needed was to add a fifth.

- Also, his romance ruins the story B2 was trying to tell. You can’t have a story about how an older producer assaults the main character then have a different producer meet the main character alone (at night) under a bridge so soon after the assault happens and incorporate a new romance route with said producer.

- And not only should they have NOT included him in B2, Hunt shouldn’t have been in the book AT ALL. His storyline should’ve went to Teja and Seth who were already making their own movie. MC could’ve joined them instead. Then the story remains unchanged, same plot just different movie, BUT you get to include Seth and Teja more who were SORELY in need of more screentime and proper development.

- AND NOW the reason why it’s unfair for Hunt to have been added as a new LI. This motherfucker was already a date option back in Hollywood U. He had TEN dates. Other characters were lucky to get 2 or 3. And there was an entire personal storyline involved too while everyone else (for the most part) got standalone stories with minor conflict. Only one character (Chris Winters) got the same treatment. The fucking disrespect of bringing Hunt back like this.

- Addison feels OOC to me. She was never, you know, passive or timid, but her personality in RCD feels closer to Lisa or Aria. Also, her design is worse. Downgrade.

- BSC is good, but I think it would’ve been better if one of the LIs was from the city like MC. Have them relate to MC more personally. Common ground, you know.

- Though I wouldn’t change the LIs for Class Act for anything, I think it would’ve been really clever had they pulled a Tom from ILB and incorporated Brooklynne as a character and/or LI for Class Act. Expand upon her in a school setting with her peers, incorporating her growth from BSC and develop her further. And I don’t think that JUST Brooklynne should benefit from this, but ANY side character that was fairly popular with fans or have the potential to be explored more in a different setting. For example, Fatima from AME in something fashion related.

- Speaking of Fatima. Fucking... they had her cameo in Queen B only for it to come after them copy&pasting her model as a student they called her ‘Begonia Thotte’. Clown behavior.

- Also, Fatima is descended from Kenna Rys. IDK how, but I stand by this headcanon.

- Skye is the best character in Class Act. I’m sorry. I don’t make the rules. Her conflict with her parents is so emotional and engaging. And it’s consistent throughout the trilogy. Including Brian as her brother was also brilliant. Her brother could’ve easily been a random nobody. A copy&paste minor character. But making him somebody we knew from the previous trilogy not only connects us to that series, but it adds a new dimension to the whole Crandall situation and helps us understand her little bit where she’s coming from early.

- Rory is nonbinary.

- Not a single character who accuses MC of sabotage in order to get the starring role apologized. I’m specifically looking at Ajay. They’re all bad friends except Rory, Skye, and Erin.

- Natalie and Clint’s crush on Rory gets REALLY creepy really fast. It starts off as bad comic relief, but then it quickly becomes obvious that their purpose is to help push the MCxRory plotline. But it’s weird, you know? Because there’s a turning point in how creepy they are where you have to wonder WHY Rory wants to be anywhere near them let alone consider them friends. In B2-3 they cool down, but... wow.

- Katherine should’ve been apart of Class Act somehow. There should’ve been a place for her. Plus, Class Act needed that connection to HSS. Most of the original characters are gone, graduated, so the only one left is Mia. And she’s graduating in this trilogy. Having Katherine return not only would’ve helped connect to HSS more, but also give a bit of closure to Mia/Katherine.

- No shut up. Stop right there. I don’t want to hear “we don’t talk about Mia/Katherine” drama. I’m right.

- It’s hilarious that in b2 they give Clint a love interest thinking players will be invested and pay money for someone who was BARELY a character. It’s even funnier because Graham, despite being introduced as a LI for a side character, becomes even MORE of a real character than Clint, Natalie, and Trevor. I mean, Natalie almost gets there. But definitely not Trevor.

- It’s amazing how the plot of Class Act b2 is based on Rory and twin getting into a fight and becoming enemies during the presidential elections and despite this being the major conflict of the book, they don’t show the turning point where they start becoming enemies. The scene is reduced to a montage where one second, it’s a friendly competition and the next they’re practically at each other’s throats. The book would be SO much better if they wrote the scene in full.

- AME b1 had it’s flaws, but it was a good book. It adapted ES’s friendship system well enough. The other contestants were interesting. This series had a lot of potential to be a great, continuous series, but instead, B2 sabotaged any chance of that and B3 killed it.

- Ivy could’ve been A LOT more interesting, but PB reduced her to a one-dimensional rival character for players to hate. And then for the next two books they flop between being a complex character to being a generic rival character.

- Bianca is underused in the series. IDK why they even bothered giving her a RP twitter account tbh. They passed up on SO MANY moments that could’ve easily been tweaked to be romantic.

- Even though she isn’t a LI, the sheer POWER of a romance involving Aurora could easily beat any of the official LIs. And before you ask, yes, she’s better than Ethan. By a lot.

- The fact that Ethan calls us (the MC) stupid for not buying a diamond scene should be a red flag. Both for Ethan as a character and Pixelberry. Like... please take that in... Ethan, upon facing rejection, immediately lashes out, insults and degrades a possible romantic partner. That reveals severe emotional immaturity. Just for starters. Then there’s Pixelberry using a LI to call their players stupid for not giving up a few bucks to read a romantic scene with a fictional character that’ll last maybe less than ten minutes. Big yikes whichever way you look at it whether it was accidental or not.

- Ethan Ramsey is not a good character, but he’s popular. And that’s why Open Heart fell apart. Because PB was too concerned with making money than telling a coherent story. Everything goes back to Ethan. The other LIs cycle appearances while Ethan is in almost every chapter. They just couldn’t stop themselves from putting as much Ethan content into each book as they could. And it’s not even like they cared about his character. Apparently, they resorted to copy&pasting scenes from previous chapters/books just to put more content for him which is kinda funny if you think about it.

- Bryce and Jackie are meh. Still deserved better though.

- P2R is a cute book, but the writers did not know what they wanted to do with the plot or various conflicts. The dialogue is really bad too.

- Having said that, Marisa and Ahmed stand out. Marisa especially. They both could’ve been really good LIs, but I feel like they got left behind because of P2R’s bad writing.

- Ending the It Lives series at book 2 was disappointing, but I guess you either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become a shitty romance dominant book.

- Having said that.... Perfect Match deserved a book 3. They set up several different interesting storyline ideas. Easily enough content for a third book. But again who knows how they would’ve handled that. Maybe best it ended on a relatively high note.

- Alana’s romance route is one of the best in the entirety of choices. MC’s cringe-y and horny dialogue aside, the fact that you can chose to be emotional or casual when pursuing her which leads to different outcomes really embodies what Choices should be about.

- I know PB would never make it and MotY wouldn’t work with gender customization, but I think a single father MC storyline would’ve been cool.

- Bucket Harringtoad isn’t interesting enough on his own for the writers to focus so much of their time on him.

- TE would’ve been so much better if the MC was blood magic attuned. The magic quiz that determines your attunement is a gimmick that doesn’t really mean anything to the story. And the story kinda ignores it to take a Twitches angle anyway. They should’ve gone with blood magic instead.

- The whole friendship bracelet thing still doesn’t make sense. IDK if they fixed it, but like... the only thing Atlas, your twin, sees is that bracelet. Meaning one of your friends has betrayed you. But to see that bracelet, they also must have seen their wrist. All of MC’s friends have different skin tones. Atlas would have seen that bracelet attached to Beckett’s white wrist. And this could’ve easily been fixed! Just have Beckett drop his bracelet, but replace it with MAGIC!!! And don’t tell me that’s not how magic in The Elementalist works because this book is fucking fictional, they can make it so it works like that.

- AtV is the only book I can remember off the top of my head that was so badly written and boring that it made me put it down.

- Pax and Eos are bad characters and bad siblings. You can’t even claim their bad relationship is part of the story. It’s just awful, they’re truly terrible people, but ATV passes it off as if there’s some sort of disagreement between the three or something. Pax is a brat and Eos is an arrogant shit. Neither grow as people, we’re just forced to deal with them and we’re made to feel bad when they annoy us.

- The alien designs for AtV were terrible. If they were just gonna make them all look human and not develop any of the alien races, they should’ve just made most of the cast human. Who cares at that point! They even reuse one of the aliens and pass her off as a ‘bejeweled pop star’ in Platinum.

- If PB were so worried their paying players wouldn’t want to romance aliens then, again, they should’ve just made the main cast all humans with maybe one actual alien-looking LI. As such, PB and those players are cowards and have no taste. You know who you are.

- And no, don’t tell me they’re pulling a Star Trek. This wasn’t live action, this wasn’t the 1960s, and AtV does NOT say or do anything meaningful about.... anything, really, but certainly not their alien species.

- An ES spin-off based on the bad Rourke ending would be amazing, but in the current day... the writers would fuck it up and make Rourke a LI.

- They should totally make a what-if, low stakes college drama featuring the Endless Summer characters.

- It’s actually kinda amazing how large the cast was in ES and how every character, even the non-LIs, get their own story and decent development. Now compare that to some other Choices books with less main characters.

- The whole good girl/bad girl thing in Queen B is bullshit. It doesn’t really change much beyond dialogue, but mostly the story acts as if you’re following the bad girl route regardless. Zoey gets mad at you even if you prioritize her, people still think you’re the new Poppy. If they weren’t gonna commit then why bother.

- Veronica, Chloe, and Carter should’ve had bigger roles in Queen B as free posse members (requiring skills instead of money/diamonds to recruit). All three, but especially Chloe, are really interesting and could offer more to the story than Kinglsey ever could.

- Oh and poor Chloe. They demote her to dumb blonde sidekick after b1. It’s like they saw players found her stupidity charming and decided that was THE ONLY THING people liked about her, so they made that her one defining character trait in b2 instead of expanding upon her complicated relationship with Poppy.

- Veronica looks better on the cover art than her character model. Honest downgrade, she deserved better which brings me to my next point.

- Choices needs to update their art style... at least fix up their anatomy/posses and body types. There are too many characters that look stiff and a little uncanny. I know they can do it. They’ve released some very nice cutscene art. At the very least, they should put as much effort into the character models as they do the art for the same characters that appear on the cover.

- While i’m at it, they HAVE to stop reusing character assets like they do in books like Queen B. Just pull an early RWBY and make generic faceless background characters. If they really can’t spare the resources/time to make individual background characters then they should just sit down, make a batch of basic, faceless stock characters and they’ll be good for however many years choices has left. Introducing new characters and have them be the secret villian or something, like X/Selene, is ruined when ALL of the characters are copy&paste.

- Professor Kingsley being a LI with most of the focus on them actively conflicts with the story Queen B is trying to tell. It’s like they’re telling two different stories, honestly. Queen B would’ve been so much better if Professor Kingsley’s role was similar to Professor Vasquez, but younger. Sure, sprinkle in some romantic diamond scenes maybe. But it should be extra. That or save them for a one-LI only book.

- I will never understand why My Two First Loves has 100 chapters. Haven’t played it and never never will, but... why?

How I study Korean

I don't attend any language school for Korean but I can't take all the credit either because I have resources which help me, a lot.

Learning Spanish for two months helped me understand the key points about learning a foreign language. I started with the basics, 한글.

Reading & Writing: I made sure I knew the correct stroke order and pronunciation of the 한글 characters. I wrote 한글 everyday for about a month while reading aloud the character I was writing. Just like in kindergarten, when I was learning my first language, English.

I used Duolingo to practice the 한글 characters. Repetition is the key.

With Korean, the new part was - syllable blocks.

Even Bengali or Hindi didn't have them. So I dived into the concept of syllable blocks. I wrote words which were one or two syllables long in order to get used to the writing system.

I wasn't happy about my handwriting though. It looked very blocky and un-native-like. So I practiced writing Korean like a native.

During the transition I might've been trying too hard. (and that's a lot of 박보검 and 오빠)

This is my steady Korean handwriting. It's not pretty but it's legit. (None of my handwritings are pretty)

This is my English handwriting and I've been writing English ever since I was a baby. I just don't have very good penmanship, I guess. (this is actually a random chemistry question. All I write these days are science stuff for NEET, so.)

Pronunciation: Now that I knew how to read and write 한글, I moved on to the phonetics. Here's an order I follow and I think you should too, when learning a language from scratch.

Gotta start from the core

Vowels are cool, but consonants? Man, did I struggle. Voiced, unvoiced, unaspirated, aspirated, tense... WTF? I got through it.

Next in line for Korean pronunciation were 받침 and nasal assimilation/ nasalization.

Speech levels: English doesn't have speech levels but Bengali and Hindi do, so it was comparatively easier for me to understand that. Bengali and Hindi both have 3 speech levels. On the whole, Korean has 2 반말 and 존댓말. But on a more precise level, it has 7. You need to know 4 and you're good to go.

Basic Vocabulary: I have books in Korean for beginners and apps like EPS TOPIK Korean and Eggbun are also a fun way of learning new and useful words. I don't bother getting premium, the free version does a pretty good job.

Conjugation: Korean conjugation is pretty easy. All you have to care about is the tense, as it doesn't depend on number (singular/plural) or person (I/you/it). Also, Korean nouns are gender neutral. I consult Hanji whenever I'm in doubt.

Sentence Construction: Korean sentences have a Subject+Object+Verb order unlike English sentences which have a Subject+Verb+Object order. Bengali, however, has an order similar to that of Korean.

Counters: This is something which is much more common in Bengali than in English. Counters or counting words are classifiers. In English it is "two sheets of paper", not "two papers". Analogously, in Korean 장 is used to count sheets.

Numbers: There are two different number systems in Korean. Native Korean and Sino-Korean.

Books : There are tons of ebooks for learning Korean in these websites z-library, pdfdrive and epdf.

YouTube : Channels that I use include TTMIK, 한국언니, Minji Teaches Korean, KoreanClass101, BillyGo, The World of Dave, 빅키샘.

Websites : 90DAYKOREAN, How to study Korean, Key to Korean, Koreanly

Translator : I would not recommend Google translator for Korean. It's lousy. I use Naver Papago.

Forums : Trust no translator! Translators can get your message across but there's no guarantee that it sounds natural. Get help from natives, use language forums like Korean Language Stack Exchange and HiNative.

Comprehensive Input

Reading : Read in Korean- literature, articles, essays, magazines, comics, news

Listening : Listen to podcasts, music or audiobooks in Korean

Writing : Write in Korean, if you can't write anything creative, journal in Korean

Watching movies or TV shows in Korean help significantly improve listening skills. Playing word games in Korean will improve your vocabulary. Try to understand jokes and memes in Korean.

I'm an ARMY, Jin's dad jokes immensely help me improve my Korean.

I also have (native) Korean friends who proofread what I write and help me use more natural Korean expressions.

I actually tried to learn Hanja (Chinese characters) because they said it would help. It's frigging difficult! I quit. I'm doing just fine without Hanja.

- I just love clones more than life itself. Look at the boys go. I love them. I wanna give them all hugs (in regards to Tech…I will not kiss and tell).

- Gregor has and always will be so precious. Love that quirky boy so much.

- WTF IS GOING ON WITH REX??????? I NEED ANSWERS!!!!!!!

- Echo played such a major role in this episode and honestly I'm so glad. I still think there is so much more room to grow his character, but at least it's something.

- Gonky being that bitch this episode 👑

- Not sure if you've noticed, but my soul is no longer attached to my physical form. Tech has it. Tech owns my soul. I am more than ok with this.

- The last 5 minutes really just did that didn't it? Like jeez bro that was a lot

- Cross? Breaks? Hunter? Out? And? They? Both? Escape? After? Having? An? Emotional? Reconciling? PLEASE???????????

Overall, while I did really like the Ryloth episodes, I honestly think this might be my new favorite episode.

The episode itself was well paced

The stakes felt rather high

Fantastic action

Echo played a main part in the storyline

Contributed to not only the plot of the show but added context for how Gregor and Rex meet up

Tech flying and looking hot while doing it...that's very important to the overall ranking

It was engaging and intense with one hell of a cliffhanger at the end

So yeah I really liked this episode! I'm super excited to see what happens next (omg there's only two episodes left oh no scary)!

Last Stop | One Shot (Luke Patterson x Reader)

I have to admit - nothing compares to playing a sold out show at the Orpheum Theater.

However, Y/N’s breathtaking smile is a serious competitor.

But, just like the show, her gleaming smile disappears with the crowd. I tried my best to find her throughout our performance, but she was always disappearing with empty glasses and plates in her hands. Regardless of her actual presence, the mischievous glint in her eyes with a smile to match had already been etched into my mind, never leaving me for a second in her absence.

The euphoria of the show never leaves me either as the boys and I leave the stage, drenched from head to toe in sweat. The thrumming in our beings is from the adrenaline coursing through our bodies as we realize that we did what we always dreamed of - playing the Orpheum. I couldn’t wrap my head around how loud the crowd was, never believing for a second that they were here for us. However, when they screamed our words back in fervor, I converted into a believer. Once the ringing in my ears subsided, I could hear the boys echo my feelings about the show as we walk back to the dressing room.

“That was the best show we’ve ever done!” Reggie exclaims, tossing his leather jacket over his shoulder. How he played half the show in that jacket is a mystery.

“Yeah, the crowd was absolutely crazy. Did you hear them sing our songs? Our songs!” Bobby adds. He grimaces when he realizes that it was futile to use his wet shirt to wipe the sweat off his face. He shakes his head like a dog instead. “Alex, that drum solo at the end - that was your best solo yet!” Bobby throws over his shoulder.

“I think we all killed it tonight, man. But yeah, that was pretty good,” Alex flips his hair back. I come up from behind him, gripping his shoulders.

“Pretty good? Alex, we were rockstars out there! That crowd, the energy, our music - that was everything we wanted!” The boys cheer as we step through to the dressing room. We all down the water bottles left on the table and take a second to process all that just transpired.

“We just played the Orpheum,” Reggie states in disbelief. We all share matching grins and holler as we jump around the room.

“We’re legends now!”

“No more small venues and street dogs!”

“Only up from here baby!”

The band knew that those weren’t true statements, but we were just too fucking high on life. We’re planning on riding this high for as long as we can. Nothing could bring us down.

At the mention of street dogs, I remember how Y/N persuaded us to eat and drink with her before the show. I wonder what she thought of our performance, our music. Is she a fan now? Is she disappointed after getting to know us? During our pre-show dinner, we truly hit it off. She had a wicked sense of humor, almost matching Alex’s which he definitely enjoyed. She was a great listener too, reflecting our struggles and spreading positivity. She could definitely be a bartender like her brother Dave when she’s older. When I told her just as much, she responded with “as long as I’m not next to him at the bar.” Furthermore, Y/N was naturally flirty, never shying away from a compliment or giving one. Yet, she radiated sincerity whenever she sent a flirty compliment, no ulterior motives were hidden under her forwardness. She was just an angel with devilish tendencies - a deadly combination.

A knock at the door snaps me out of my thoughts. For a quick moment, I hope that it’s Y/N. I scold myself as I walk forward and open the door. My heart still drops just a little and then picks up speed when I see a man in an expensive looking suit on the other side. Man in suit can only mean one thing.

“Hello, Sunset Curve, I’m Peter Martinez from Columbia Records.” The towering man puts his hand forward, and I grab it. As he firmly shakes my hand, I hope that he doesn’t think anything of my clamminess.

“Hello sir, I’m Luke and these are my bandmates Reggie, Alex, and Bobby. Nice to meet you.” The boys all try to subtly fix themselves up to seem put together. The Columbia Records guy sends us a kind smile before speaking up again.

“Likewise boys. Now, I’m a producer at the record company. I go to a lot of shows here. I’m always looking for potential and I think I’ve found it tonight. Your show was absolutely spectacular. You kids got a lot of spunk. Here’s my business card if you’re interested.” Peter pulls out his card from his Gucci wallet and hands it to me. I take it without hesitation before looking back up. “You boys have a good night. You deserve it.”

“Thank you, Mr. Martinez!” I yell after him as he trudges back down the hallway. I turn back to the boys and we start our celebration up again. I pass around the business card before putting it in my wallet for safe keeping.

“Alright, alright boys. We should probably get outta here and celebrate! Pack up.” Alex, Reggie, and Bobby nod their heads, and we all start to change. I walk over to my backpack and pull out my clothes. Preoccupied with taking off my own wet shirt, I wasn’t able to grab the door after we heard a knock.

“Oh, hey Y/N!” Reggie greets excitedly. I lift the rest of my shirt off quickly and look towards the door where Y/N stands. Some of her hair has fallen out of her bun and there’s a slight sheen of sweat across her skin. How can someone look so cute and hot at the same fucking time?

Little did Luke know that Y/N was thinking the same thing. She wanted to coo at the suprised look on Luke’s face but was distracted by the whopping six pack just staring back at her. She knew he was fit from his massive arms, but her breath still got knocked out of her when she checks out the lead singer. Y/N blushes when she directs her eyes back to Luke’s face, realizing he’s caught her as a smug smirk presents itself.

“Hey Reggie! Hey guys!” Reggie lets Y/N, and I put on a fresh shirt. She stands by the door, wiping her hands down her apron.

“You guys were fucking amazing! I was rocking out with the crowd the whole time! I’m definitely a fan of Sunset Curve now,” She exclaims with a wide smile. We chuckle at her wild gestures. It was adorable.

“Thanks, Y/N. That means a lot,” Alex says as he runs a hand through his hair.

“Anyways, I came here to give you your portion of tonight’s ticket sales. I should probably ask you to get me a free dinner now with how much you made from the sold out show.” I scoff as I step closer to her. “Just kidding. I’ll just profit from the t-shirt and EP I’m going to sell anyways,” Y/N teases, holding out the envelope of cash for me to take.

“Wow - we give free merch to you, a fan, and now you’re just gonna back door us? You’re evil, Y/N.” I grab the envelope, trying to ignore the spark that shoots up my arm from brushing her hand.

“Like I said at dinner, gotta pay for college somehow,” Y/N retaliates. I shake my head, hiding my admiration for her quick comebacks. “Anyways, I gotta head back to work before my brother yells at me. You guys are welcome to hang out here for as long as you want. I hope I see you all back at the Orpheum soon.”

As much as I want to ask her to stay, I know that I couldn’t. She wishes all of us goodbye, before heading out of the room. Y/N sends me one last smile before walking down the hallway, disappearing from me again. The high from the night slightly dims when she walked away. A sweaty towel is thrown at my head, and I turn back to the culprit with a grunt of disgust.

“Bro! What was that for?” I fix my hair before glaring at Alex.

“Dude, Y/N was totally into you. Why don’t you go after her?” He yells at me, gesturing at the empty doorway. I roll my eyes and start to split up the envelope. After I hand the guys their portions, I stuff mine in my backpack.

“Bro, you’re mad. Y/N’s way out of my league. Besides she’s working right now,” I shoot back, picking up my bag.

“Dude,” Reggie holds the door open for all of us as we make our way out of the dressing room, “you just played a sold out show at the Orpheum. You’re freaking invincible right now.”

I look at each of my friend’s faces, only seeing expressions of agreement written on their faces.

“Fair point.” I nod with a shrug of my shoulders.

Reggie was right. I’m a 17-year-old boy who just played my music to a sold out show. If I can do that, then I can definitely ask a girl out no matter how pretty and witty and confident and cool she is. With encouraging pats from the boys, I march my way to the bar. The theater is still full of people, but less packed than from our show. When I arrive, I just miss Y/N after she heads back to the kitchen. All confidence started to wash away when I see her brother giving my a threatening glance. As I start to rethink my plan, Y/N emerges from the kitchen.

“Luke! What are you doing here? I can’t exactly give you food again or else my brother will kill me.” She rests her forearms on the bar with a quirk of an eyebrow. Her eyes were glowing in the darkness, drawing me in and never letting me go.

“I actually wanted to know if you’d be interested in that free dinner you tried squeeze from us. Only this time it’ll be a date with me. What do you think about that?” I ask, drawing in every bit of that adrenaline high from performing to ask Y/N out.

“I think I would be very interested in that, rockstar.” Y/N says cooly. She bites her lip to stop a grin from spreading, but it only makes me fall harder for the busgirl in front of me. “I actually get off in 20 minutes. Boss lets me leave early on Fridays. Is that okay?”

“That’s totally fine, Y/N!” I roll my eyes as Alex springs up behind me, throwing an arm around my shoulder.

“The boys and I heard about party going on down at the beach soon. We’re gonna head out right now.” Alex fixes his hat and nods his head towards Reggie and Bobby who were waiting by the front door. “You’re welcome to join, Y/N.”

“I’d love to come! I can drive Luke and I there after work,” Y/N turns to me excitedly, “Is that okay Luke?”

“As if I could say no to that face,” I answer, remembering the thought I had when I first met Y/N. Alex ruffles my hair up before walking away. We both wave to the band before they head off to the beach.

The 20 minutes go by fast. It amazes me that a moment with Y/N is never a dull one. Within the 20 minutes, the crowd at the bar grew, but despite the growing crowd, Y/N still managed to make me laugh a few times without ever slacking off. When I told her she was lucky that she didn’t have to work the rest of the nights, the moan of relief she let out was both hilarious and slightly turning me on. By the time I calmed down, Y/N was clocking out. I couldn’t stop the smile spreading on my face as she bounds over me excitedly, bag and jacket on her shoulder.

“Ready to go?” I nod and she grabs my hand. My heart starts to pound from both her bold move and the threatening voice from behind us. I turn around in fear while Y/N turns around in annoyance.

“Don’t stay out too late!” Her brother Dave tells us. He then sends me a a warning glare, “And if she doesn’t come home tonight, I’ll make your band a trio. Got it?”

I was barely able to nod before Y/N drags me out to the back door to the back parking lot.

“God he can be so overprotective. It’s embarrassing.” Y/N shakes her head while guiding me to her car. When we arrive at her beat up Honda, she starts to dig for her keys in her purse.

The little furrow in eyebrows were pulling me in, making me step into her space. I didn’t even notice that I was that close until her forehead just grazes my nose.

“What are you up to, rockstar?” Y/N looks up at me, suspicion dripping from her voice. She stops searching for her keys when I place my hands on her hip.

My instincts take over my movements as my mind blanks from the brightness in her eyes. From up close, I could see a little scar on the side of her left eye. I wonder where it’s from? My eyes trail down to her lips where I can see that her breathing has picked up. Quickly glancing back up to her eyes, I see a sense of apprehension that almost makes me step away before they look down at my lips too.

“You’re way too pretty,” Y/N whispers unknowingly. “Oh shit, I said that out loud, didn’t I?”

I breathlessly chuckle at her flustered state, taking pride that I could do that to such a confident girl like Y/N.

“Right back at you, babe.” I couldn’t stop my hands from moving to her waist, caressing her through her shirt. I feel a shiver go through her.

Y/N blinks slowly before leaning her face closer to mine. She looks back up to me and the apprehension that I saw earlier was gone, only pleading evident which I probably conveyed too.

“Tell me to stop and I will,” Y/N whispers, inching her lips closer to mine. Her hands slowly move away from her purse and up my arms, squeezing them. I gulp and wait for her lips to land on mine.

I take back what I said earlier. There is something better than playing a sold out show at the Orpheum and that something is Y/N’s lips. My eyes flutter close when I get overwhelmed by the taste of her mouth and the feeling of her hands wrapping around my neck. She accidentally bites my lip when I wrap my arms fully around her, drawing out an involuntary groan from me. She continues to nibble at my bottom lip while tugging at the hair at the nape of my neck. She took my breath away without even trying, so imagine how hard my chest was heaving when she returned my kisses with vigor. Y/N pulls away to catch her own breath, licking her lips in awe of what just happened. She leans back against her car and I have to restrain myself from following her. When I lick my own lips, my mouth quirks up as I taste the remnants of her cherry chapstick. The haze that clouded my brain slowly starts to dissipate as we catch our breaths.

Y/N reaches back down into her purse and quickly pulls our her keys before looking back up at me. She reaches out and pulls on my t-shirt, dragging me into another searing kiss that leaves me completely dazed.

“And that’s living now or never, rockstar.” Y/N swollen lips spread into a devilish grin. “Now, let’s go on an adventure.”

And like I mentioned earlier, who am I to say no?
