Garra walked out of the clinic, holding a picture in his hands. Garra walked back behind the clinic and waited, Chojuro walked up to Garra and stood beside Garra, looking over his shoulder.

“So, what is it.?” Chojuro asked, brimming with excitement.

“A girl...” Garra muttered, showing Chojuro the ultrasound picture.

“That's wonderful∼” Chojuro said, wrapping his arms around Garra's waist in a hug.

The wind blew softly, making Garra's shirt flow up. Garra pulled on his shirt, trying to keep it down. Garra was struggling with his clothes now that he had reached 3 months. It was getting hard to hide his bump.

“I think it would be ok to tell the other Kage about us...” Chojuro said.

“Are you sure about that...?” Garra asked, he hadn't thought about tell the other Kage. “Is that a good idea...?”

“We can trust them. Besides, everyone will have questions about her...” Chojuro smirked, rubbing Garra's stomach.

Garra sighed. “Well yeah...”

Garra thought about it for a bit, leaning back against Chojuro.

“Fine... We'll tell them during the Kage summit next week...” Garra said, confirming on his decision.

Chojuro nodded. “Alright...”

“But first, I need better fitting clothes...” Garra said quietly.

“I'll get you something comfortable...” Chojuro giggled, gently patting Garra's pregnant belly.

“Thank you baby...” Garra muttered, pressing his nose into Chojuro's neck to take in his scent.

“Well, I'm glad that all of you could make it here...” Naruto said respectfully. “I'm glad everything is going well in our nations.

“Yes, it was nice to be here.” Chojuro said, “But before everyone leaves, Garra and I have an announcement.”

Garra quivered with fear, he still hadn't mentally prepared. Garra loosened the straps that attached his gourd to his body, avoiding everyone's gaze.

“Oohh... What's this about...?” Kurotsuchi asked, way too interested for Garra's liking.

Garra's heart was pounding in his ears, making his chest hurt. He tried to look calm but he wasn't ready yet, but it wasn't like he could back out now.

“Garra...?”

Garra felt a hand press against his back, gently rubbing it. Garra stood up shakily, standing beside Chojuro.

“Garra... Are you ready?” Chojuro asked.

Garra nodded. “Yes...”

Chojuro breathes in deeply and exhaled softly, mentally preparing himself to start speaking.

“Garra and I... Are in a relationship...” Chojuro said happily, holding Garra's hand.

“HAHA! I KNEW IT!” Kurotsuchi cheered.

Before anyone else could respond, Chojuro continued speaking.

“That's not all...” Chojuro said. “We're also expecting a baby girl...”

“Now that, I didn't know...” Kurotsuchi muttered.

“Aww, congratulations!” Naruto giggled, smiling widely.

“Yeah, congratulations.” Darui said.

“So how far along are you?” Kurotsuchi asked.

“Only 14 weeks...” Garra muttered, showing off his bump.

“Aw Garra!” Naruto purred, hugging Garra. “It's gonna be so amazing when you finally get to hold your baby...”

“Yeah, I heard about how wonderful it feels.” Garra giggled.

Chojuro raised an eyebrow in at Naruto, a hint of jealousy in his eyes. Naruto looked away nervously and let Garra go.

“Have you come up with any names yet?” Darui muttered.

“No, not yet...” Garra said, squeezing Chojuro's hand.

“You know, y'all are actually pretty cute together...” Darui smiled.

“Thank you...” Garra said, resting his chin on Chojuro's chest.

Hi! Love your work! However I was wondering the reasoning behind some of your couples in Your Most Important Person. Kakasaku is obivous since it seems to be your Naruto OTP. But why pair Naruto up with an OC instead of Hinata? I do not mean this as hate. I am merely curious about some of your artistic choices. On another note, I see what you're doing with Darui and Kakashi in your ABO fic. Nice one, dude! And Lee and Sakura are great as Eternal Rivals!

I tried to do several personal challenges in YMIP, you’ve hit upon one of them, which was, other than KakaSaku, to write only pairings I’d never written before. I should explain that YMIP was originally meant to be a one-shot (I know!) that would end at the Naruto vs Sasuke fight with KakaSaku acknowledging to each other that they were each other’s soulmarks, and an open ending. But I discovered I wasn’t done telling their particular story and so I kept writing.

I’ll put a cut in here to avoid spoilers.

NaruOC: The main reason for going with an OC was that the particular soulmarks of this universe–first words–and Naruto’s desperation for a soulmate made it near impossible that any canon character was his reciprocal soulmate. Once I realized that, I also realized it was a good opportunity to work on my OC skills. I had fun building Tena from scratch, including her name (which comes from the same legends that give us Kushina and Mito’s father’s name in canon). 

YamaIno: I lowkey ship this, it has a lot of similarity to SaiIno which is a big OTP of mine.

KankuHina: I don’t ship Hinata with many people, but Kankurou is actually one of them. Yes, it’s crack, but there’s a wonderful 279k fic called Marry My Father Please? by kaotic312 with it as a main pairing that made me love it.

Kurotsuchi x Konan: I was constrained by the Kakashi-centric nature of the fic in how much I could go into this, but I was intrigued by the idea of two new generation same-gender village leaders being soulmates, with all the obstacles implied by this–the distance, the conflicting priorities of their villages, whatever prejudices exist against homosexual relationships in the Naruto world–etc. Plus Konan making paper flower crowns out of cocktail napkins is just too sweet. I wanted to write a letter fic series for them for femslash week but I didn’t have time back then. Maybe someday.

One-sided Zabuza x Haku: I wanted a semi-dark mirror of how Kakashi x Sakura could have been if Kakashi had made different choices. In this fic, Zabuza knew Haku was his soulmate based on those first words “Mister, you have the same eyes as me” but intended from the beginning only to exploit and manipulate Haku as a tool (same as canon). So he deliberately manipulates Haku into seeing Zabuza as near to a god. But after the incident with Naruto (in this AU, Gato arrives before Haku dies, so Zabuza and Haku kill Gato), he realizes that’s wrong. Eventually, as Haku gets older, Zabuza falls in love with him. But by that point he realizes that Haku can’t and will never think of him that way, and Haku enters a very happy romantic relationship with another young man who also has a platonic soulmate. At that point in the story, I wanted to kind of shake Kakashi up and get him internally confronting his own feelings and fears. Zabuza x Haku mirrors some of his own fears of what could happen between him and Sakura.

Kabuto x Iruka and Kurenai: Some readers were confused by what’s going on here, which I don’t exactly blame them. Again, one limitation of the narrow Kakashi POV is that I’m limited by what Kakashi wants to think about. I don’t feel it’s true to character for Kakashi to be super nosy about other people’s relationships. I got around this somewhat by having Sakura gossip to him about stuff, haha. But yeah, Kabuto and Iruka are soulmates and romantically involved. Kurenai’s soulmate was Asuma. After Tsunade makes her speech encouraging the birth rate to go up and the blind dating thing is put into practice, the three of them all join for the interests of procreation. They end up hitting it off. I suppose you can say as a threesome they have a queer poly platonic kind of relationship? Kabuto and Iruka are romantically and sexually involved. Kabuto and Iruka each have sex with Kurenai to meet her sexual needs and to father children. (In this universe I’m headcanoning both Kabuto and Iruka as bisexual.) They all live together and jointly parent their biological children as well as the orphans.

ShinoKarin: Shino is her type, canon doesn’t give any data about what Shino’s type is, but anyone has to admit, you put them together and they would be one scary power couple. And just imagine the kikaichu colony that could be hosted in the body of a child of Uzumaki heritage… y i k e s.

At First Sight

A/N: This is some good shit right here (despite being shorter than I thought it’d be) like omg I would’ve never thought a fellow Cee lover would request a scenario for him like thank you so much, anon, you’ve made my night. Hope you guys like it!

Cee trailed along after the Raikage, shoulder-to-shoulder with Darui. The other bodyguards moved around them in pairs while the Kage, guided by the Sixth Hokage, explored the new-and-improved Academy of Konoha. The past two years had been all about rebuilding after the war.

One such task was determining the kind of training they needed to give the younger generations. The last war had completely changed the game with different twists their enemy kept throwing at them.

The group stopped in front of a door.

“[Name] [Last Name] is one of our top teachers. She was on the front lines in the war, so she teaches a war tactics class for genin. It’s a new, required class for all genin upon graduation,” Kakashi Hatake explained.

“I would love to speak with her, but it looks like she has a class at the moment,” the new Tsuchikage said. If Cee remembered correctly, her name was Kurotsuchi, and she was the last Tsuchikage’s granddaughter.

“I can arrange for [Name] to join us for a meeting later today. Her last class should be finishing up around one o’clock,” Kakashi said. He began to lead them away. Cee, along with a few other guards, lingered to peer through the window in the door at the young woman in the classroom. He paused.

She was easily the most beautiful woman he had ever seen, with [h/l], [h/c] hair and [e/c] eyes. She was small with arms completely wrapped in bandages. She had the brightest smile on her face as she laughed about something.

“Cee, come on,” Darui called.

“Coming!” Cee said. He managed to drag himself away from the door just as [Name] glanced towards him, making the briefest of eye contact with him.

It was love at first sight.

Weeks passed. Cee couldn’t get [Name] off his mind, remembering her sunny smile. He had briefly seen her when she arrived at the Hokage Tower for the meeting with the Kage, but he never got a chance to speak with her.

Who would have thought he’d fall in love with a Konoha ninja, let alone someone he never spoke to.

He was so distracted thinking about her one day that he didn’t notice when Ay’s booming voice was directed towards him.

A fist punched his shoulder. “Cee!”

“Hmm?” Cee glanced at Darui, who jerked his head towards the Raikage.

“As I was saying,” Ay said once Cee’s attention was on him, “the chunin exams are coming up. We’ve been invited to send an ambassador to Konoha to help with preparations.”

“I’ll do it,” Cee said so quickly that all the heads in the room spun towards him.

“Are you sure? You’re not the biggest fan of Konoha,” Darui said.

“I’ll do it,” Cee repeated.

Ay raised an eyebrow at him. “Fine. It’s decided. Cee will be the ambassador.”

Cee was in Konoha for three days before preparations were underway. He wanted nothing more than to go to the Academy and seek out [Name], to officially meet her, but his duties came first. He couldn’t disappoint the Raikage.

He ran into her by chance, when he and the other ambassadors accompanied Shikamaru Nara, the coordinator, to the Academy to go over criteria for genin to enter the exams. Cee was confused about why she was there, but then he remembered that she taught genin and would therefore have a good idea of what genin were ready to take the exams.

Cee caught up to her after the meeting. “Excuse me!” he called, rushing down the hallway.

[Name] turned, smiling. “Oh, hi. Cee, right?”

“Yeah,” he said, coming to a stop in front of her. He couldn’t believe he was actually talking to her. What should he say? Should he just ask her out? Or was that too bold?

[Name] raised an eyebrow, amused by the whole situation. “Do you want to go get a drink? You look like you could loosen up a little.”

Cee blushed. “I, uh, was actually going to ask if you wanted to get a drink,” he said, scratching the back of his neck.

[Name]’s smile brightened. “Great! I know the perfect place.”

A Night to Unwind

The Five Kages go out for a fun evening for food, drinks, and a movie in Konohagakure. It's a rare chance to unwind amongst peers and romance blossoms in the most unexpected of places.

Besides my rare pair indulgence of Chojuro/Gaara there's also some Darui/Kurotsuchi and Kankuro/Omoi.

“I have kind of always thought about trying something casual,” Omoi said while eating. “You know, like friends with benefits or something,” he said more quietly, hoping only Kankuro could hear.

“Is that so?” Kankuro asked, suddenly very interested. “Ever find anyone to indulge?”

“You know, I haven’t. It’s kind of a hard thing to bring up, I guess.”

“Well, you’re bringing it up now. I, um. Well I think it’s a good idea.” Kankuro was grateful for the paint on his face. His face felt hot. Was he really trying to proposition sex in front of the Five Kages? Kankuro leaned in a little closer to Omoi, leaning to whisper in his ear, or at least, speak quietly over the noisy din of the restaurant. “I’d indulge you,” he said, and pulled away and grinned at him suggestively.

Omoi was stunned, face full of color. “I-I…um…I need another drink I think.”
