Something I think you'll appreciate. In a fairly recent d&d campaign, dragons were a big part of the world our dm built. At the beginning of the campaign, he laid down his most important ground rule: we were each allowed to try and seduce 1 dragon, and that was it.
an important part of any session 0 is establishing rules, managing expectations, and setting boundaries to ensure everyone’s comfort; your DM is doing great

Listening to the Tulip craze episodes again, and I'm just picturing John Wall vs Thomas Ladder as that jojo meme of Jotaro walking towards Dio.

How much better off would Anakin be if he and the prequel Jedi had heard Jolee Bindo's "swirling force" story?
It’s going to take a lot more than that story to fix Anakin Skywalker’s problems.

With that DAV Mara fic, all I'm seeing is Luke and Leia going up to Anakin and asking "How many siblings do we actually have?"

You know, all your hawke posts have made me realize how much I change about hawke whenever I make a DA2 au. Thanks for helping me understand how bad canon hawke is.
I’m challenging myself to write a DA2 fic in the 5+1 format where I only use canon dialog until the +1. It’s really making me think about how much Anders puts up with. The real tragedy.

Did Ron and Hermione being prefects show up in the movies? Because I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't, considering that it would require Ron to be shown having actual competence and earning something in the movies.
I... think they did?
Can anyone confirm?

So, here's a question I've been mulling over for a while, and want your guys' take on. To what extant do you guys think the fandom's view of Taiyang is influenced by toxic masculinity?
Hmmm…
I would say that the fandom, or at least the part that hates Tai, tries to force a toxic masculinity ideology onto him. They make him out to be crass, rude, uncaring toward his kids, and up his own ass. Which he isn’t. At all.
If you’re asking if toxic masculinity is what colors the fandom’s view of Tai, I don’t think it does much. Sure there are probably some who want him to be macho and don’t like his passive role in the story, but I’d ask you to clarify exactly what you mean, since I might be misinterpreting what you’re asking. I think most people who don’t like him simply have a habit of interpreting his actions and words in the wrong context and adding in their own headcanons.
Part of the fandom decided to take Tai “shutting down” as confirmation that he did nothing to help raise his kids and Yang shouldered the burden of taking care of Ruby for her entire life. Despite Yang and Ruby’s obvious love for and closeness to Tai that implies he was a very active part of their lives.
Any other mods wanna weigh in?

What do you think would have changed if Shmi and Anakin were Twi'leks?
Not a lot in the long run.
I think Anakin might have an even more difficult time being taken seriously, and Shmi would have suffered much more sexual abuse than she likely already did but beyond that, I don’t actually think much would have changed.
It’s a fascinating idea though! And now I’m wondering about Half-Twi’lek Luke and Leia…

Instead of Obi-Wan Kenobi, or Boba Fett, how about we make a movie about a man we really don't know enough about? What does everyone think about "Dooku: A Star Wars Story?" And as a part of that, who do you think could work as a young Christopher Lee?
Well, let’s answer the last question first: I am hopeless at remembering the name’s of actors, so I have no clue who would be a good young Dooku. You’re going to need to look elsewhere for an answer to that question.
HOWEVER, I love your idea about Dooku’s background as a Star Wars movie. It likely is a better one than Kenobi or Fett. Kenobi, if they do it properly, is just going to be him, and his increasingly desperate mental state in the desert guarding Luke. It could actually be good if they handle the material well, but I don’t trust Disney to do it. They’d want adventure; they’d want a love interest; they’d want Obi-Wan to be everything he is not in canon, so please no! Same with Fett: They’ve already messed with Mandalorians too much, thanks, but no thanks. Besides, most fans know a lot about Fett, so like you said, why not Dooku?
A Dooku story would be awesome. Dooku is an arrogant young Jedi. He’s proud; he’s vain; he’s isolated; he considers himself to be very refined. He’s also a monumental bigot, but there’s also more to him than that. After Galidraan, he questions everything, and starts to realise the folly of the Council, of the Senate, of the Republic etc. I would love to see what drives this man, one of their most distinguished, (even Mace won’t hear a word against him),  to leave the Order, leave everything he knows behind, even become a Sith, to see the founding of a better political system. I mean…it’s so interesting on so many levels. Dooku is a deeply flawed but well-intentioned character who ultimately becomes a Sith, if only because it’s the opposite of the Jedi. He sees the Light Side=stagnancy and the Dark Side=chaos and change. He wants change; he’s had enough of Jedi apathy so he falls. He jumps. It would be interesting from the perspective of usage of the Force, even ignoring the many facets of his character. Dooku is layered, and the foundations of his understanding have been shattered. The politics of the Republic and the founding members of the CIS is also so important and fascinating, especially as Dooku is an Outer-Rimmer, even if he is a wealthy one… Gosh I would love to see all the depth, and nuance, and corruption, and intrigue that would come into this movie if it were properly done. Raised in the Core, how would he feel when faced with the disdain that would be leveled on him when he becomes an Outer-Rim Count? Actually, I don’t think one movie would do it justice. It could be a trilogy all it’s own, and it would tie so well into AoTC as a prequel trilogy of it’s own… (You could start watching it after TPM and finish just before AoTC…)
Having said all that, I don’t trust Disney to do it, because of the nature of the politics involved. One of the biggest complaints, (idiotically), leveled at the prequels is that they were “boring” because they were “too political.” Given what seems to be their desire to appease the OT fans, (the one’s who are hard-core prequel haters, I mean) and to deny the prequels, I doubt they will handle the movie the way it would need to be handled. They would be afraid too. I would LOVE a Dooku movie and it’s honestly the best Star Wars movie idea I’ve heard, but I would rather it not be made, than be told that some out and out b*****it is canon. You get what I mean? I don’t need action for the sake of action. I need a character story set to political corruption, rampant bigotry, colonialism, specism, and intrigue. Only give me action if it furthers the character’s story. Would they be able to do that without trying to prove they’re “better” than the prequels? I don’t know. I just don’t know. Given that they haven’t once even had Padme, (whose job actually is politics), doing well in her position as a Queen or a Senator without drawing her blaster or forcing meaningless relationship drama, (if they actually show her in her proper position at all), I have little faith. *sigh*

There are a few pieces of Fire Emblem Fates that I must get out of my system. Some truths I believe to be self-evident, and some ships I will go down with. The Truths: 1. Silas and Gunter are related. This makes sense to me because it answers the question of "why would a lowly boy who was not Corrin's servant be allowed to make contact with Corrin?" Gunter personally trained Corrin in combat. Perhaps he brought a family member along for a time.
A good headcanon, but it contradicts with the lore of Revelations. Silas isn’t quite lowly either, given that he’s from a family of nobles (which is why he was even allowed to be near Corrin.)- Mod Spec
EDIT: I mean, Silas and Gunter definitely aren’t father/son (which was what I was thinking you were implying with the ask) but its possible they are related somehow.

Not voting isn’t a protest. (...) we have to drag our country to the left. One. Election. At. A time. It’s not an all-or-nothing scenario. So if it comes down to it, vote for Biden. Get on the bus headed away from fascism and the alt-right. If that bus isn’t heading directly to where we want to go, then we ride it until we have a chance to get on a different bus. Not voting is NOT an option.

I know that before JLA and JLU, there was SAS and BAS, but how cool would it have been to have spin-offs of all the original members of the Justice League with their own shows? Lantern and Flash getting prequels, where they're being heroes, J'onn and Wonder Woman getting more integrating shows where they're adjusting to being part of human society, and finding out what Hawkgirl was up to between JLA and JLU.
Oooh, I’m so here for this. Consider:
J’onn’s show is set in the period between his leaving in “To Another Shore” and his surprise reappearance in “Destroyer”. We get to watch him adjusting to life as a human, trying out different appearances and identities until he finds one that fits, and meeting the woman he eventually marries. Also, almost every episode features some kind of supervillain shenanigans, and the big question is always, “Will J’onn be forced to reveal his identity this time?” But every time he either manages to resolve the situation in his civilian identity, or else another member(s) of the Justice League shows up and handles things. Sometimes they figure out who he is and there’s a heart to heart. Sometimes he just disappears into the crowd and goes home to his wife.
Diana’s show has the usual villain of the week bits, but it also deals a lot with diplomacy and big political issues. Climate change is a recurring theme. Also Diana punching fascists. That happens a lot. And because I actually kinda liked the fact that JLU Diana didn’t have a secret identity, consider this: Diana’s mainly used to engaging with “Man’s world” as a diplomat and as a member of the Justice League, but she decides she wants to have more genuine, unscripted experiences, so she goes to the person who she most associates with exuberant, infectious enjoyment of life: Queen Audrey of Kasnia. Every three or four episodes Diana swings by Kasnia and sneaks Audrey out of her palace and then they go out and just enjoy themselves. (Of course, there’s also probably a lot of episodes featuring various political plots in Kasnia, but that’s not as fun.) Oh, and Diana and Audrey totally fall in love.
I think with John, Shayera, and Wally, I’d actually rather see them get sequel shows. Shayera’s time between Starcrossed and her reappearance in JLU is a really interesting open question, but as a premise for a show I feel like it would be pretty depressing, because she’s so completely sunk in self-loathing for that whole time. A younger John prequel could be interesting, with lots of opportunities for space adventures. Ultimately, though, I think JLU left so many things unresolved with him that I’d still prefer a show about him to be a sequel. As for Wally, he really grows into himself through JL/JLU, so I’d most like to see what he does after that. So:
Shayera and John’s plot lines were both so bound up with each other throughout JLU that it might actually work best to give them a show together. Their show would finally resolve the Shayera/John/Mari love triangle, but because I kind of hate love triangles I actually hope it would be resolved pretty early on. It would be cool to see Mari as a recurring character after the inevitable break up, though, and I’d really love to see her and Shayera developing a strong friendship. Other recurring themes in this show: lots of space adventures, ongoing Thanagarian drama, possibly more time travel shenanigans, eventually baby Rex Stewart. Also featuring frequent guest appearances by Wally, Rex Mason, and Dr. Ivo’s android, who has become Shayera’s all-knowing robot bff.
The three part opening episode of Wally’s show features him befriending Piper and then the two of them teaming up against a big bad, and by the end of the third episode Piper’s switched sides and is crashing in Wally’s apartment because his parents kicked him out and now he’s not a Rogue anymore, either. In the next episode some kid named Bart shows up with superspeed and claiming to be from the future. Suddenly Wally’s got a crime-fighting partner and a sidekick. There’s a running gag of people who think Wally eats a lot / talks too fast / doesn’t think things through / etc. meeting Impulse and being just…astounded. Also for probably the first season Wally and Linda dance around each other like idiots. He’s perfectly casual with her as Flash while she gets super flustered, and then as Wally he’s an absolute mess around her while she’s perfectly witty and at ease. Eventually she finds out his identity in some dramatic way and they work things out. The Rogues are regularly involved, and it’s anybody’s guess whether the next episode will feature one of them trying to rob a museum or teaming up with Flash to defeat some other (more genuinely evil) supervillain. There are regular holiday episodes and in every single one the Ultra-Humanite somehow ends up helping Flash bring holiday cheer to a bunch of kids. No matter how often this happens he always acts extremely put upon about it.

You know what would be a cool story? If a mage Warden bonded with Mouse willingly, like Anders and Justice. There's multiple points for it to happen, too.

How hard would it have been to give Neville torture scars? Bc in book! Deathly Hallows, he was tortured so thoroughly and so often by the Carrows that the scars were still obvious and horrific months later.
Indeed!
