Kingdom Hearts IV predictions: Radiator Springs/Dinoco Rust-eze Racing Center/Fireball Beach/Thunder Hollow/Thomasville/Florida International Speedway (Cars)

Takes place after Cars 3.

Is visited by Sora, who enters the world as a 2017 Nissan 370Z before visits to Luigi’s Casa Della Tires and Ramone’s House of Body Art end with him modified into a next-gen race car sponsored by Dinoco (with Tex’s blessing) and with Cruz’s number.

It isn’t combat based. Missions include keeping up with McQueen’s top speed by racing down Radiator Springs’ main street, learning how to turn right to go left at Willy’s Butte, driving backwards with Mater, keeping up with Cruz’s top speed on Fireball Beach, avoiding pushy competitors with the Thunder Hollow challengers, and practicing with Cruz at Thomasville, culminating in the Piston Cup race at Florida International Speedway, where the objective is to win against Jackson Storm.

It’s set during Cruz’s first Piston Cup racing season, so McQueen still has Doc’s colors and spends the Florida race as Sora’s crew chief. Also, Ramone wears his “Saludos Amigos” body paint from the epilogue of Cars 3.

As Sora finishes his story, Mater is certainly unhappy with Xehanort’s actions forcing Sora’s hand. “That dad-gum Xehanort”, he says angrily. Extra points if Sora doesn’t get to the part where Xehanort is dead, then Sarge gets in his face and demands him to teach Xehanort a lesson when he gets back in a militaristic manner. “Is that understood,” Sarge yells. Then Sora tries to correct him, but gets cut off and asked again, “Is that understood,” and has to respond, “Sir, yes, sir!”

Of course, during the top speed races, Luigi is the one to signal the race to begin. In the Radiator Springs race, Sora’s top speed is tracked by Sheriff’s speed radar, and on Fireball Beach, it’s via Cruz’s personal assistant, Hamilton.

If you fail the “Turn Right to go Left” mission, Sora goes flying into the bed of cacti, and Mater fishes him out.

Cars 2 elements will be here. Heck, maybe Mater can’t be present most for the training because he’s busy with Finn and Holley. After all, does he still owe Holley a first date?

I wanted the player character in this world to be Kairi just so Storm can feel the embarrassment of losing to not one, but two “costume girls”.

The Piston Cup race is announced as a 500-lap race, but no game developer is that malicious to force the player to race 500 laps around an oval, so they’d take after the first Cars game and make it twelve laps with the sun slowly lowering throughout the race.

In the morning, Bob wakes up first. Darrel's snoring has lightened and he's cuddled up closer to Bob now, his engine long gone cool and his lack of insulation making him colder. Bob switches on the morning news, then orders their breakfast. The youngling on the phone hesitates at the quantity he orders, and he has to assure them he knows what he's talking about. Darrel burns fuel like a fighter jet, and they have a long way to drive today.

And then the news switches to an update on the previous day's race, and Bob snoozes through most of it until he hears his own name and startles awake again.

"-But what has got fans really talking is the casual reveal from popular Piston Cup commentators Bob Cutlass and Darrel Cartrip, on their recent union," It cuts to a clip of Bob's earlier mixup, and then back to the faintly amused reporter. "No matter what racer they run for, fans all agree that it's 'about time'."

Oh damnit, Bob thinks grumpily to himself.

Curious if you have any headcanons for Bob and Darrell, or maybe both!

Sure I do! I don't write them nearly as often as I should, but I have a few!

Bob's definitely a very serious person, and Darrell was the one who got him to lighten up some when they met.

He met Darrell in 2000, when the other retired from his racing career to become a racing announcer.

It took Darrell five years to actually confess his feelings, after around four years of mutual pining.

Darrell's the top in this relationship.

Bob and Darrell tend to sneak away to the private suite at the speedway they're announcing at for...purposes.

Darrell takes a cup of coffee every morning, which explains why he's always so enthusiastic and hyper.

They sometimes race each other on the speedway when it's empty for fun. Darrell almost always wins since he has prior racing experience.

During the events of Cars 2, Bob was terrified that Darrell might be caught in an explosion of some sort while interviewing the WGP racers on the track, and Darrell rarely goes anywhere out of the country without Bob for this reason.

• They have been married for 35 years and how they met was a long story.

• Darrell has major golden retriever vibes, and Bob loves it so much, and he loves dogs so much so that's why he married this man!

• Darrell has gotten into accidents when he was on the racetrack, and Bob was so freaking shocked, the medics were blocking him not wanting him to see that.

• Bob always kisses Darrell on his scars to prove to him that he loves him so much. And Darrell would break into tears.

• Bob is shorter than Darrell. (My short king)

• Darrell always loves the head pats when Bob and him are cuddling with each other. (He loves those things like a puppy)

• Bob gets jealous when Darrell is with another guy or a woman would latch onto Darrell's legs and glares at the person.

• They always give each other pet names.

• Darrell and Bob would have "fun" on Saturday night... Yeah... But good thing their walls are sound proof... (I would feel bad for their neighbors ☠️)

• Darrell would complain if he doesn't get any attention but he would use the puppy eyes either way.

I'm Fine (Cars Whumptober 2023)

decided to post one of my Cars Whumptober one shots here

Summary: Darrell wakes up from a nightmare and Bob comforts him

The dream started the same way every time. It was the middle of June in 2000, the second race at Darlington. It was sweltering 96 degrees, meaning it would be about 116 inside the car. The stands were starting to fill with thousands of fans, excited for a day full of speed, crashes and roaring engines.

The race started out how it always did. He started in 14th but as the laps went on, he passed racer after racer. About halfway through the race, he was now 6th. He could see Strip and Dale Sr at the front battling it out with Chick right behind them. His crew chief's voice rang out through his helmet, telling him their next move.

As the red and black #8 of Dale Jr moved to the inside lane, Darrell stepped on the gas, moved the #17 upward and passed relatively new racer with ease. He then passed Billy Oilchanger when he went too high. Now he was in 4th place, just behind Strip, Dale Sr, and Chick.

"Be careful with Chick Darrell, you don't know what he could do." his crew chief warned.

"Yeah, I know."

A few seconds passed, Chick moved the bright green #86 towards the outside wall in an attempt to pass a certain black Monte Carlo with the #3 in front of him. Darrell then pressed on the gas and accelerated, getting closer and closer to the Dinoco blue #43 in front of him.

"Darrell, look out!" his crew chief's voice cut through the air with alarm.

Darrell turned his head slightly to see the bright green 86 sliding towards him. Chick's car hit the passenger side of his car, sending him sliding off the track and into the grass towards the inside wall. Darrell tried to get his car under control, but to no avail. All of a sudden, the car hit a groove in the grass, sending it airborne. The car hit the inside wall and began rolling until it came to a stop a few yards away upside down.

The caution lights came on as the camera focused on the smoking remains of the #17. Track officials and paramedics quickly made their way towards the wreck to help the driver. Since Darrell hadn't let his window net down, it was a sign that he was unconscious or injured.

The last thing Darrell was aware of was the panicked voice of his crew chief calling his name before he fell into darkness...

Darrell's eyes flew open as he gasped harshly and sat up quickly. He quickly took a few deep breaths in order to calm down his rapidly beating heart. After a few minutes, he had gotten his breathing and heartbeat under control. He looked around and saw that he was in his bedroom in North Carolina and not the track at Darlington.

The ex-racer sighed as he buried his face in his hands. He had been through many crashes in his 23 years of racing, but the one at Darlington had been the worst. Not just because of the injuries but because it proved to be his final race. And he didn't even get to finish it.

"Darrell, you ok hon?"

Darrell was snapped out of his brooding by the calming voice of his boyfriend. He turned his head and saw Bob had woken up and was looking at him with concerned blue-green eyes.

"Yeah, I'm fine Bob." Darrell said quickly as he turned away from his lover/co-worker. He then felt a firm hand on his shoulder.

"Don't do that Darrell, don't push me away." Bob said, "Tell me what's wrong."

Darrell turned back towards Bob and his brown eyes met with his boyfriend's. Bob's hand cupped the left side of Darrell's face. Darrell sighed as he knew he couldn't hide anything from Bob. There was something about the racing commentator that made him want to pour his heart out.

"I...had that dream again..." Darrell finally said as his eyes looked down, "About the race...at Darlington..."

Silence blanketed the two commentators for a few minutes before Bob spoke up again.

"C'mere." Bob pulled the ex-racer into his embrace and leaned back against the pillows with Darrell's head resting on his shoulder. He ran one hand over Darrell's graying reddish-brown hair and traced one of his right fingers over a scar on Darrell's arm that ran from his shoulder to his elbow.

Darrell sighed as he melted into his lover's arms. Bob always knew how to make him feel better. It was nights like these that made him forgot about all the bad memories and wrecks.

"I love you Bob."

"I love you too Darrell..."
