43 and Luca! I’m a sucker for it

(I wasn’t sure what prompt 43 this was for so. I’ll do both) 

43.  so your popular friends are mocking me for being dateless and you swoop in to announce that you’re taking me to the dance

The group was seated outside after they had lunch, chilling off to the side of the building on the sun warmed concrete patio. Luca was leaning up against the brick of the building and watching as everyone else was chilling. Sammy and Jack were pressed up against one another, but in a way where it could be seen as platonic. Lily was sitting with Katie, her head in the other girls lap as Katie ran her fingers through Lily’s hair slowly. Ron, Archie, and Doyle were all chilling, chatting softly with each other as well. 

“So Luca, who’re you going to prom with?” Lily asks, grinning at the teen. Luca makes a face and groans, sliding down the wall a little bit. 

“No one! Not even sure if I’m gonna go. I went to junior year prom, isn’t that enough?” Lily barks out a laugh. 

“No way, we’re all going, all of us.” 

“I’m not going. Don’t have a date.” Luca shrugs. 

“Oh come oooooon, you can get someone easily,” Lily grins

“You can get any boy or girl you want honey, can’t be hard.” Archie says from his spot on the railing, lanky legs hanging down. Luca makes a face. 

“I appreciate that, but we know that’s not true.” Luca chuckles and throws a leg over Jack’s, who smiles broadly at him. 

“He’s right!” Jack says, leaning to squeeze Luca’s ankle. 

“Suuuuuure.” Luca rolls his eyes. 

Ron laughs and looks at the group and then to Luca. 

“We’re going together, isn’t that right?” Luca looks at him, face flushed. 

“We are?” Luca asks. 

“Yuuuup.” Ron grins and Luca grins back. 

“Guess that settles it.” 

Taking care of the other when sick or injured

“Sorry to call you like this, but you’re the only one I knew would be free at this time.” Luca’s voice was low and Ron couldn’t help but to wince at just how sick he sounded through the phone. 

“Don’t apologize, I’ll be over.” 

Ron is over within ten minutes, opening the door after Luca texted him to just walk in. 

“Luca, where you at?” Ron calls out into Luca’s place. 

“Bedroom, under the pile.” Comes Luca’s muffled voice from the bedroom. Ron chuckles a bit and walks in, smiling at Luca who is under a pile of blankets, looking absolutely miserable. 

“You got sick overnight, how does that happen.” Ron sits down on the edge of the bed and sweeps Luca’s bangs out of his face, which is red and clammy. 

“I have no idea, but I feel like utter shit.” Luca grumbles, but leans his face against Ron’s hand, nuzzling into the warmth. “I’m just. Fucking freezing.” 

“The fever will do that to you.” Ron kisses his forehead and Luca makes a face. 

“Don’t, you’ll get sick.” 

“I’ll be fine.” Ron gives him another kiss and stands up. “I’m gonna make you something to eat, something that you’ll be able to keep down.” 

It’s simple really, broth and crackers because that’s all Luca knows he can keep down. Ron pulls back the many blankets after a few hours, after Luca asks him to help with a bath, and Luckily they’re far enough into their relationship, that it isn’t weird. 

Well, Luca hates it, it makes him feel exposed even though they have showered together many times before. But Ron does it quick, and Ron joins him in bed, even under all the blankets. Luca falls asleep curled up in Ron’s arms, under too many blankets, and his fever is broken by morning.

You could always check out Adventurer’s League! It’s campaign/story based so you can play with different people each time and online and some stores arrange gamenights with AL. There are rules though, like with char creation and you can’t play the same campaign/story more than once with a character. You level up based on XP and gain renown, gold and downtime. I’ve played it three times myself

I would really recommend Adventure League! They run D&D and pathfinder campaigns, and they always have really awesome set up! Alternatively you could start up an online campaign. Roll20 and discord really make online campaigns as enjoyable as in personal sessions. If you’re ever in need of a DM hit me up!

Huh.  Well I wasn’t aware that was a thing, and it looks like yes there are games at some local stores.  My main problem though is I could only really make it games on Sundays.  I have a friend who plays and isn’t happy with his current group but we really don’t have the time in common to do anything about it.  Online play...I don’t know.  It’s a little appealing but what I really need is IRL social interaction in my life, which would be part of the point of doing it.  

Anyway, thanks to both of y’all for pointing that out, and if my transportation situation ever improves I might look into getting involved in AL.

@watchtheantagonist that's what I was thinking!! either the web, spiral, or corruption. the last two mostly just cause I think it'd be interesting parallels from the main antagonists of the show. maybe for the spiral instead of working in the archives it could be focused on the actual research department of the institute or smthn?? for the corruption having the institute be a medical research center or a hospital might work better too

Prompted by the anon looking for non-cis friends, but applicable to all: I grew up in a conservative area and really didn’t feel comfortable embracing/expressing my identity until I left for university, so I totally understand the desire to have non-cis friends on the down low. The listeners have to know! What TMA fear is Luca?

:00 MAN. Of all my ocs...... I never thought of one for Luca. Hm.

I don’t think what I wrote really makes him apart of the Vast, I think this was more of me getting things out. 

Really though, this one is hard, because it’s almost a perfect tie between The Lonely and The Vast. With the time he spent in the void, he was oh so lonely, even with the moments he had with Jack. But I think Vast might work better, because that is exactly what the Void is. It is Vast, neverending, and terrifying. Luca used to be fine with stuff like that. Wide open spaces? Open water? He didn’t like it but he wasn’t afraid. 

Not like he is anymore. He’s terrified of the wide open water of the lake, he doesn’t realize this until he’s actually out on it, a nice little fishing trip with Ron, it’s not until he’s back on land, Ron rubbing his back as he gets sick on the bank, that he realized he panicked in the boat, and that this was horrifying for him. 

But it fits him so well, yeah? He falls into that fear easily, when he got to King Falls, those first months? He was locked up in his own house and didn’t know why, but the new walls, an apartment filled with comforting things, it made him feel better. Outside? No thank you. 

So now, he’s still afraid of that openness, the farm is easy on him though, with animals everywhere, even on the vast terrain that is the land they have. That helps a bit. Ron’s bulk, Sammy’s comforting glances, Jack’s clinginess (that he also has towards Jack).

The little things help, but he’ll feed the fear every once in a while.

29. What is your character’s weaknesses? Hubris? Pride? Controlling?: Oh this is a good one, with all the shit, you’d think it would be a lot. Honestly in the beginning it was any talk about the Void, he’d hate it, would consider it that.

 But think now it’s… his hubris, but explicitly about his ability to get Jack back, by going into the void. The fear of losing his friends and loved ones is also high on that list, it’s probably the second thing. He’d do anything for the rest, which leads to his fuck up in trying (and succeeding) in pulling Jack home 

48. How are your character’s gestures? Vigorous? Weak? Controlled? Compulsive? Energetic? Sluggish?: 

Depends, mostly controlled when he’s out and about, with people he’s close to he’s pretty energetic, nothing Ben levels, but he’ll gesture with his hands more and such. Alone with Ron (or the extended Jack/Sammy thing we’ve got going on) he’s chill, slower than outside, casual and reserved but in a comfortable way.

I didn’t get a notification of this message… that’s why it took me so long to answer this.  =P  That’s not my story though.  Let’s see… so one time when I was at DisneyLand with my mom, we went to go ride the Jungle Cruise, which is one of my favorite rides.  This was the first time in my life that I’d ever seen such a line for that ride, so we had to go into the part of the queue that leads upstairs and snakes around.  My mom was complaining and complaining about it.  She complained about everything that day, and then we went to California Adventures the next day and she complained about everything there as well.  Then when we were on our way home, she was like, “That was the best weekend I’ve had in such a long time!”  And I’m just sitting there like, “Really???  That complaining was fun for you??”  And apparently it was. =P
