Sleep did not come easy, as the events of the night flashed in your mind, one after another, leaving you tossing and turning in bed. There was clearly no way you could fall asleep after what happened, and the murky fate that now lay just on the premise of your thoughts… you came into contact with the god of death.
He was just a myth, a scary story told to kids to easily spook them. Horror novels and movies were born out of the lore surrounding him and his favored mask that adorned his face during his kills. He was just a halloween decoration, an adjacent theme to a favored holiday… he couldn’t possibly be real, could he?
Your question was answered after sleep finally eluded you into a chaotic induced nightmare. Awaking with a startled scream, you sat upright, panting as you attempted to catch your breath. You had been back in the alley, the pale face of the poor blonde illuminated through the smoke by the flickering streetlight above. Golden strings of what looked like cosmic stardust had begun swirling around you, their origins coming from the dark figure who stood at the end of the alley. They had wrapped themselves around your wrists, your arms, your body until the suffocating feeling they brought with them awoke you from your sleep.
“What is it?!” Celia screamed, as she burst into your room, a frying pan in her hands, ready to attack. She looked around, attempting to locate the danger.
“I-I’m sorry, it was just a bad dream,” you said in between breaths. Celia lowered the frying pan, concern flickering across her features as she watched you closely.
“Are you okay?” She asked.
“I think so-,” you began to answer, but were quickly silenced by a burning sensation twisting around your wrist.
“Shit!” You cried out, fumbling to turn on the lamp. Celia rushed over to help, white you held your wrist closely. Once light illuminated the room, you pulled your wrist out to examine the burn mark.
Only it wasn’t a burn mark. A golden mark had been etched into your skin, a delicate white pattern tracing through the gold in waves. The mark flickered in the light, making it almost like a bracelet permanently clasped around your wrists.
“What the hell is that?” You asked, panic rising through you as you stared at the mark. You had seen this golden pattern before… in your dream, and on the night of the murder. Whatever this was, had to belong to the god of death… but what did it mean?
“Hold on…,” Celia responded, already heading to the door. She raced back to the kitchen island where she left the book the two of you were reading the night before, researching the god.
“Let me see if this has any information,” she flipped through the pages. You sat closely, watching as she skimmed the foreign words on the page. Your wrist had stopped hurting, but just knowing the mark existed made your skin crawl. Whatever it meant was clearly not good… you’ve seen the movies!
“I’m not seeing anything in here that mentions a mark… usually his victims are unsuspecting that he's on the hunt, unaware they’ve even come into contact with him… apparently it makes it more, well I don’t know how to translate this word but I would assume it means appealing.” Celia concluded.
“Damn it.”
“I know,” Celia muttered under her breath. She began to mention a few people you could ask, as they were more knowledgeable than her on the god of death, but you weren’t listening. No, your mind was racing for other solutions.
“Does the book say anything at all about how to summon him?” You interrupted Celia, who now stared at you like you had 5 heads.
“Sorry, could you repeat that? I’m not sure I heard you correctly?”
“I think if we could summon him, we could ask him? Find out more about this mark?”
“Are you nuts?! You want to try and summon the god of DEATH… who will surely kill you once he sees you by the way, to ask why he marked you? Hello?” Celia yelled, flustered with your own remark. You hadn’t thought that fully through, you’ll admit that.
“Okay maybe not him, but what about the other gods who knew him? The eternals? Could we summon one of them and ask?”
“Yeah I don’t think that's how it works… you don’t just summon a god, y/n…” Celia chuckled. There was a barrier between them and the humans. While many humans worshiped the old gods, no one ever actually heard from them. And they definitely didn’t summon them.
“Ugh, you’re right, I know you’re right… I just… I don’t know what else to do!” You let yourself fall back onto the pillows of your bed and let out an exasperated sigh.
“Give me today, I’ll talk to my group at school and see if we can think of anything that this may be connected to. Just go to work and try and live like you don’t have a potential mark of death around your wrist,” Celia responded, patting your leg comfortingly. You sighed, knowing she was right. There was nothing much you could do but just pretend like everything was normal.
You could do that…
A few hours later you were making your way down the stairs heading to work. Unfortunately for you, there was only one way to the restaurant, which was right past the alleyway from the night before. You could walk another 35 minutes out of your way to walk around the entire square to the otherside, but it was too hot for that.
The early morning sun was surprisingly warm against your skin. Humidity hung in the air like a wet blanket, making you squirm as you walked down the street. Yeah, there was no way you could walk that long in this heat, and you were grateful for the prescription strength deodorant that you doused yourself in this morning.
As you approached the alleyway, the yellow caution tape caught your attention as a slight breeze ruffled it. It covered the entire alley entrance in a big X, though one could still slip through the tape if they really wanted.
And for some reason, that's exactly what your brain told you to do. Carefully, you moved in between the tape, trying not to lose your balance and send the tape ripping off the walls of the alley. You weren’t quite sure what possessed you to do this, but some innate sense deep inside of you pulled you in.
The stench of the alley was strong, from the trash building in the dumpsters, to the blood that still stained the concrete- a crime scene crew had yet to clean it up. Trying not to throw up, you slowly walked deeper into the alley.
A tingling sensation caressed your wrist, pulling you out of your thoughts. It was a soft tingle, like a breeze had blown through, meeting your skin. You inhaled as the tingling moved up your arm to your shoulder, and then back down your back, stopping halfway. The hair on the back of your neck stood up, as you felt something press up against your spine. The metallic smell was back, lingering in your nose.
Whirling around, you were met with nothing but the empty alley opening up to the street. A group of teenagers had stopped to peer through the tape, trying to see what they could spot. Panting, you stood still, hoping they didn’t see you, and that whatever was just touching you was gone. Or just in your head- that would be fine too.
Once the teenagers had satisfied their need to see the grotesque site, you made your way back out of the alley. Whatever just happened had to be connected to the god you had run into the night before- you were sure of it as the golden band around your wrist itched- but you didn’t want to think about it, not now anyway.
Everything was perfectly fine. Perfectly normal.
“Y/n! There you are,” your boss, Alex, greeted you as you walked in the doors of the kitchen. Alex was a force of nature that’s for sure. They were probably the kindest person you had ever met, and yet had such a stoic nature about them, that no one took advantage of them. It was something you secretly envied.
“Hey Alex. How was opening this morning?” Your shift started a couple of hours after opening, so you wanted to gauge how the day started, as it was usually telling how the rest of the day would go into the night.
“It was pretty slow, you know with the murder and everything,” Alex whispered. You nodded. He had no idea just how much you knew. “I suspect the rest of the day will be just as slow. Sooo, you know what that means! It’s a perfect day to train!”
You groaned. Alex knew how much you hated training, but they couldn’t deny you were the best.
“This is, I’m sorry, what did you say your name was again?” Alex turned to the man standing behind him. You hadn’t noticed him at all, as he was half in the shadows. He took a step further, the light overhead shining on him like a spotlight. Your breath hitched in your throat as you saw him. He had the bluest eyes you had ever seen, contrastingly sharply against his dark pupils. He was very handsome, his chin chiseled at just the right angles, his 5 o’clock shadow highlighting his jawline. Something about him sent alarm bells in your head, yet also made you want to fall to your knees before him. He just seemed so… familiar.
“Kieran,” he responded, smirking slightly. His voice was deep, a thick irish accent coming through. It wasn’t rare to hear someone with an accent from across the seas over in this part of town, but something about him just sent a chill down your spine. Not to mention, your golden bracelet seemed to have warmed against your skin in his presence.
“Right, silly me. Anyways, this is Kieran. He will be serving, so I want you to train him today. Really go over the menu and our practices…” Alex continued but you stopped listening. You couldn’t break the stare you and Kieran were entranced in, his smirk only growing by the second. It was as if he knew the effect he had on you, and he was relishing in it silently before you.
‘Hello? y/n?” Alex waved a hand in front of your face.
“Right… train him, I got it.” You said, breaking eye contact and turning toward Alex. They offered you a small smile and a wink, before turning to Kieran.
“You’re in good hands. Y/n is the best!”
The two shared a small exchange before Alex left you alone with the man. Kieran turned to you, the smirk returning. It annoyed you, how cocky he already was without having to utter a single word to you.
“So, have you ever worked in a restaurant before?” You asked, grabbing a menu from the server station next to you.
“No,” his response was short and curt. This only annoyed you even more. You beckoned him to follow you, rolling your eyes as hard as you could when your back was to him. A low chuckle came from behind you, almost as if he knew of your secret act.
You settled into a booth next to the kitchen, allowing him to slide in across from you.
“Okay, so first things first, you have to know the menu. The rest will be so much easier if you know what we offer. We’re a higher end restaurant, so we offer a lot of ‘fine dining’ dishes. Lots of pastas, seafood, steaks, and all of that.” You began to explain. The golden band around your wrist buzzed with energy as you talked. It was hard to focus on what you were saying, as the buzz intensified.
Kieran sat before you looking over the menu, memorizing what dishes you guys’ offered. As he did, you pulled your phone out to see a missed text from Celia.
Found out some more info. Meet for drinks later?
You glanced up at Kieran as you responded.
Sure. McCrakens?
The Irish pub was your go to for drinks with Celia, and its atmosphere felt perfect for the conversation the two of you had to have. The pub was almost always packed out and so loud, you could barely hear your own self, let alone eavesdrop on anyone.
Celia shot back a ‘yes 10:00 pm’ and you locked your phone, turning your attention back to Kieran.
“Seems simple enough.” Kieran said, letting the menu fall onto the table. You nodded. There was no one else in the restaurant right now, so it was a little hard to begin any other parts of training him.
“Where’d ya get that?” He asked, his deep voice interrupting your thoughts. He was nodding to your wrist. You looked to see what he was referring to, and realized the band of gold was on full display.
“Oh, uh,” you scrambled for a response as you tugged the bracelet back down over your wrist that you had covering it. His eyes peered quizzically at you, his signature smirk gone. He was as serious as could be,  which made you look at him puzzled.
“It was just a dumb thing I did at a tattoo shop,” you lied. He gave you a look that screamed that he read right through you.
“I didn’t know they made gold ink,” he responded. You sighed, knowing there was nothing you could think of that would make sense. Instead, you decided to tell him the truth… well the half truth.
“Alright, fine. I really don’t know. I just woke up with it this morning. My friend and I are trying to research to figure out what it means, but so far we’ve turned up nothing.”
He stared at you intently, studying your wrist. You squirmed under his intense gaze. It was almost as if he was burning through the bracelet, the buzzing even more noticeable than before.
“I think I may know something. Although, it’s a bit of a legend.”
“That’s kind of the conclusion we’ve come to as well, that whatever this is has to be sort of supernatural like that.”
You bit your lip as you tried to hold back what was about to come tumbling out of your mouth next. There was no way you could invite this man out to the pub tonight… not without him finding out you came into contact with a god. You couldn’t just go around telling anyone that sort of information. Not today. Especially not after last night's murder has been blasted all over the news, already blaming the gods.
“I’d love too,” he said suddenly, making you jump slightly as you were pulled from your thoughts. You blinked, trying to figure out what you just asked him.
“What?”
“You invited me out tonight, with you and your friend.” He looked stumped.
“No… I didn’t? Did I?” You were starting to question everything in your head just now… did you somehow let it tumble out of your mouth without realizing?
“You did… are you okay?” He asked. You nodded, your throat suddenly too dry to talk.
Well… there was no backing out of this now.

575 BC - Babylon
Your legs laid out peacefully across the lapaz stone you rested on. Soft chatter filled your ears as village girls twisted your hair into soft braids, weaving bright orange and white flowers in. Your hands fidgeted in your lap as you sat patiently for the young humans. You didn’t mind, every second you spent with them was precious, especially the children.
The girls wrapped the end of your hair, pulling it forward to show you their work. You smiled softly at the youngblood, admiring their fragile work. The humans never ceased to amaze you.
“Il likrubk,” you said sweetly. May the Gods bless you.
As you admired the braid, you began to hear excited yet secretive giggles from the girls circling you. Looking up, you saw the girls chuckling at each other yet trying to hide it from you. You shifted your gaze from them to look to your side, seeing Druig walking over. When you looked back, the girls ran off, leaving a trail of laughter and flowers in their wake. You just smiled smugly to yourself.
“My, my they did a beautiful job on you,” Druig’s voice was intoxicating, it always was to you. Slick and sly, always with a bit of wit and mystery; dripping with a hidden intention only he knew.
“Do the flowers suit me?” you asked.
“Everything suits you, my radiant Y/N,” he said. You ducked your head, desperate to hide the blush blossoming across your cheeks.
He crouched beside you, resting beside you with his charcoal cape flowing across the stone ledge. From the peripheral view of your gaze at the city below, you could see him eyeing you up and down. His eyes were hungry with desire and adoration. His head tilted as he smirked, leaning in and giving you a soft nudge with his shoulder.
“We should get going, back to the Domo. I think Ajak wants to speak with all of us,” you said, nervously trying to shift the mood to hide your butterflies.
“Ahh is that so, dove?” he said, leaning back on his palms and flashing a dangerous smile at you- doused in charm.
“Yes!” you said, hopping up and offering your hand to him. “Now come on, we can brave Icarus’ obnoxious tirades together.”
His head dropped in laughter and suddenly your stomach was twisted in knots, lungs short of breath. He was beautiful. He grabbed your hand and pulled you off towards the ship. You kept it to yourself, but you couldn’t help but relish in his firm and protective grip on your supple hands.
Present Day - Amazon Rainforest
“Druig, this is serious,” Sersi said, standing from her seat in the chapel to face the dark-haired man.
“I’ll tell you what’s serious. I’ve just been told I’ve been sent on a suicide mission for the past 7000 years, and that my entire existence is a lie,” Druig snapped, confronting her as he stalked forward. He was always able to keep such a serene and stoic demeanor. Yet, seeing his “family” together again after centuries seemed to have left him shaken. There was something eerie about seeing them all together. All except one. “So excuse me for not giving a shit about your plan right now.”
Druig turned and stormed to the door to leave, hoping to erase the encounter from his memory as soon as possible. If only he could warp his mind the way he could others. The sooner he left the room the sooner he could go back to his life, pretending they had never come.
“Don’t you think Y/N would want you to help?” Sersi asked.
Druig froze as his hand hovered at the door. He felt the muscles in his mouth twitch at the mention of your name. Bile in his stomach churned. He tried to stay calm, to keep himself composed, but he couldn’t bite his tongue. Before he could stop himself, he spun around, marching back over to them.
“Don’t mention her. Not to me,” he said, his jaw taut with anxiety and dread. “You don’t know what she’d want. Besides, she’s not even here.”
Sersi couldn’t respond before he had bolted out of the chapel, leaving the barn doors slamming behind him. The tension hung in the room so thick you could almost choke on it. Thena sighed, stroking the lizard perched across her lap, before speaking.
“You should know something about him and Y/N.”
1521 AD - Tenochtitlan
You stood beside Druig, leaning into the hard muscles of his side. You had tried to control your fear, but it always seemed to get the best of you. He kept you grounded- safe and secure. You cherished that, needed that. Especially now.
Thena tried to kill you and Makkari; she attacked the entire group. Druig had to carry you to Ajax himself. You were trembling in his arms as your legs shook and bled. Even now that you were healed, he couldn’t get himself to remove his grip on your waist. You knew she didn’t mean to harm you, she wasn’t herself. This was something else. Mahd Wryry.
“It is not important if you remember or not,” Ajax said, her hands slipping through Thena’s hair as she tried to calm her. Trying to convince her everything would be okay, that it was no big deal. But how could it not be, she would lose her memories; all the experiences and life that made her Thena. “Your spirit will remain, you will always be Thena deep inside. Trust me.”
“Why should she trust you?”
You looked over, hearing Druig’s deep voice speak up. You could feel his grip on you tighten yet his hands still shook. Your brows furrowed, noticing the tension in his neck and jaw. You tried to stroke his back, to calm him down, but he was already fed up. His hand gave your waist one last squeeze before leaving your side. You suddenly felt the cold chill of his absence as he walked towards Ajax.
“You’re asking her to let you erase who she is,” he said. You knew him better than anyone, you could hear the tremor in his voice. His tone was callous and dripping with resentment.
“Dru…” you said, trying to get him to relax. Your voice must’ve been too soft to drown out the boisterous drums in his head, playing that same beat of rage and disappointment over and over again.
“Druig, I know you’re upset, but-” Ajax tried to get him to understand, but he wasn’t having it anymore.
“Upset?!” Druig shouted. You were startled, stumbling back a bit at the tone of his voice. “We’ve trusted you for 7000 years, and look where you’ve gotten us.”
You bowed your head, knowing his resentment over the last seven millennia was finally bubbling over and unleashing on everyone in the room. You had listened to his troubles on countless nights. You knew how much it tormented him to watch the humans he cared for so deeply harm and destroy each other. You were always his shoulder to cry on, his to seek solace in. This was nothing new to your ears.
“I’ve watched humans destroy each other when I could stop it all in a heartbeat,” he said. You ducked your head, hearing the shake in his normally strong voice. You knew if you glanced up you’d see that quivering bottom lip you’d become so acquainted with. You couldn’t do it, you just looked down. “Do you know what that does to someone after centuries?”
You noticed Sersi and Phantos glancing at you, perhaps hoping you’d step in. They all knew of your confusing relationship. You’d never labeled it, never defined it out loud. Never confessed undying love in a secluded dwelling, soon to wed surrounded by family. But there was something. Something that kept you tied at the hip, something that allowed him to hold your hand and rest his head in your lap. There was something undeniable.
But you couldn’t say anything; to an extent, you understood Ajax. Druig knew you didn’t adore his power. You would never hold it against him, you’d never blame him for what Areshem gave him. But you believed it was a gift that had to be used responsibly. You had expressed to him it was something you believed should only be used in dire circumstances- to save a life or prevent disaster. But you knew something that made humans so special was their conscious free will and autonomy. You couldn’t rob them of that.
“Could our mission have been a mistake?” Druig asked, “Are we really helping these people build a better world, huh?”
You glanced up to see he had turned to look at you. The single tear slipping down his cheek stung in your chest. You could see it in his eyes as if he was pleading for you to say something. To beg him to calm down, to just talk. To take his hands and pull him to you. But you didn’t.
Druig’s jaw clenched as he turned on his heels, making his way out of the temple and down the steep set of stairs. His thick cape wrapped against your legs on his way out. You couldn’t hear his words as he stepped outside, the raging war filled your mind as you contemplated your role in your mission.
“It ends now,” Druig said.
Suddenly, you hear the clashing of swords and screaming come to a halt. You knew his eyes would be glowing a vibrant gold if you could see them. Before you could say anything, Ikaris swept past you; his arm slammed Druig into the stone wall behind them. You felt your stiff legs break free, bringing yourself to the pair desperate to break them up.
“Let them go,” Ikaris said.
“You’re gonna have to make me,” Druig said.
“Please stop!” you said, coming up beside them. Your hand reached for Druig’s but Ikaris stood between you. You felt Ajax approach behind you, sending Ikaris a stern look. He backed away, leaving the three of you. You stepped forward, taking Druig’s hand in yours. It shook as it gripped yours with vigor.
“If you want to stop me, you’re gonna have to kill me,” Druig said.
His hand slipped from your grasp. He turned away from you with a soft look before descending the temple. You watched as his eyes glowed and the humans below stood in wait for him. You glanced back at Ajax, your eyes pleading for her to stop him. But she did nothing, instead nodding for you to follow him. You ran down the stairs, your legs still weak and recovering. You stumbled as you chased him.
“Druig!” You shouted as you caught up to him, “Please wait!”
Hearing your messy footsteps, he stopped and turned to see you. Worry overtook his eyes as he watched your weak legs attempt to keep up with him. Quickly, he met you a few stairs up; his hands grasped your arms to hold you steady.
“Hey, what are you doing? You’re recovering,” he said, his concern for you halting his current plans. The yellow in his eyes dulled away as he looked at you. His brows trembled and unease widened his eyes.
“Druig, please don’t leave,” you said. Your hands reached for the fabric of his cape, as if holding him tight enough would keep him there with you. “Tensions are high right now, I get that. But please don’t leave.”
“I have to go, dove,” he said. His thumbs rubbed soft circles into your arms.
“Don’t leave me,” you said.
Druig’s gaze dropped, returning to your shaking legs. His stomach knotted and his chest ached at the thought of leaving you. Not being there to hold you in the night. To see your smile each time you saw the sparkling constellations in the sky. To soak in the look you reserved just for him, teeming with adoration and something else he was too afraid to name.
“Come with me,” he said, still guarding his gaze.
“Druig, this isn’t the answer,” you said.
Finally, he locked eyes with you again. He could no longer hide the red burning in his eyes, the tears coming to the surface. You knew this wasn’t the way, isolating himself, taking control of humans. You knew this wasn’t the answer. Not for the rest of time.
“You should stay,” you said, desperate to get him to listen.
“You won’t come?” he asked.
You just looked down.
He had his answer. Before you could get another word in, he took you and sat you on the steps. Steadying you into a more stable position. His hand tangled into the hair at the nape of your neck, pulling you close one last time and pressing a long kiss to your forehead. You felt his tears soak into your skin before he pulled away. His hand began to slip from yours as he turned to leave, but you stopped him. Perhaps one last attempt to keep him there with you.
“Please, Druig,” you said. He glanced up, noticing Ajax watching the two of you from the temple.
“Sersi will help you down,” he said, swiping his thumb tenderly across your hand before pulling it away.
And just like that, he was gone.
Present Day
Druig leaned against a sturdy tree, staring up at the stars peaking through the brush above him. He couldn’t shake your voice from his head.
You were right.
This wasn’t the way. He had kept those people safe, he knew that. But as Sersi asked him to free them as the Deviant raided their village, he felt it. For the first time, he felt like the bad guy. He couldn’t shake the thought. He knew if you were there, if he had listened to you, none of this would have happened.
Perhaps Ajax would still be alive. Gilgamesh definitely would be. That was on him.
“Druig?” the voice startled him, shaking him from his thoughts as he saw Sersi approaching. She quietly stood beside him, glancing up at the stars he had just been studying.
“She was right,” Druig said, sinking to the ground as he hugged his knees to his chest. “Maybe I’m just as bad as the deviants.”
“What?” Sersi said, resting a hand on his knee. “Who said that?”
Druig just glanced at her, swallowing the hard lump forming in his throat.
“She would never, ever say something like that to you, Druig,” Sersi said. “Y/N adores you.”
“She didn’t have to say it,” Druig said, fidgeting with the pendant on the cord dangling from his neck. The soft texture of the blue and white glass slipped between his fingers. “How could she not think that?”
“Druig, Thena told us what happened in Molyvos, Y/N wrote to her. When was the last time you saw her?”
“I don’t know, at least a century. She used to come visit here, but after a while, she stopped. I went to see her in Greece. That was the last time I saw her.”
Sersi sighed, watching as Druig clutched at the necklace in his hand.
“We need to find her Druig. And we need you, please. For Y/N?”
1826 - Molyvos, Greece
Druig watched as your feet danced down the stone steps of the village to greet him, the thick linen of your skirts tickling your ankles as they flowed around you.
“You came!” you said, giggling as you reached him.
He couldn’t contain the infectious smile that seemed to spread across his face at the sight of you. His hands grabbed for your soft body, lifting you as he held you close. Your laugh trickled into his ear as you burrowed your face into the crook of his neck. He took in the potent scent floating off you as he set you down; seawater, wood, and roses.
“So this is where you’ve been spending your time lately, huh?” he said, nudging you with his shoulder. You smiled to yourself as you took his hand.
“This island is so calm. It’s what you’ve always wanted,” you said, leading him up the stairs.
-
You’d spent the following days guiding him through the village and showing him your life; how it intertwined with the people in your small community. Fishing, sewing clothing, and selling fruits at the market. It was peaceful, something he’d always longed for.
You reminisced on your days together all those centuries ago. Holding his head in your hands, soothing the pounding aches in his head from all the thoughts of others swirling through his mind. You knew it couldn’t have been any better back in the forest.
Sure, all the times you visited it was calm. But was that where he belonged? Isolated with no one to watch over him and make sure he was safe. You saw how drained he’d been, taking care of everyone else. And you couldn’t shake the feeling that the village would be fine without him. Not that he wasn’t valuable, but they needed to live a life of their own. So did he.
You’d hoped bringing him here would convince him. Give him the push he needed to finally leave it all behind and focus on him. To let the village flourish on its own.
You sat with him on the stone wall along the steps winding up to your home. Overlooking the sea below you, the waves crashing against the harbor and swaying the fishing boats tethered to the docks. The winding branches of white wisterias shaded the two of you, petals of the flowers occasionally blowing across your face in the wind.
You glanced over to Druig, the tunic he wore loose on his chest. His hands, normally wringing in his lap, were soft and relaxed. He gazed around the island before him, a smile subtly placed on his face. He may have been the mind reader, but you were his. You knew him so well, that you could read him like an open book. Even if he didn’t want you to. He was happy. You knew he wanted to stay.
“This is for you,” You said, reaching out to hand him the small trinket. He turned to see your sweet face, your eyes sparkling as the sun danced in your irises. He looked down to see you’d placed a small glass pendant in his hands. He studied the object, smiling to himself as he turned it in his fingertips.
“It’s an evil eye, the humans here believe it will protect you from evil spirits,” you said as you watched him. “It has to be gifted to you by someone, so I wanted you to have this.”
“It’s beautiful, dove,” he said.
Red splashed across your cheeks like watercolors at the name. He had always loved calling you that, watching you fluster before him in search of a response.
“You should stay,” you said, glancing down at your hands. You picked at the lace trim of your long blouse. You’d thrown the thought out into the open, and expressed your deep desire to him. You just hoped if he was going to reject you, it wouldn’t be as painful as you imagined.
“Y/N, you know I can’t,” he said. Quickly, he slipped the pendant into his pocket and stood from his seat on the wall. He felt the sudden urge to flee, to return to the village. He couldn’t be there any longer. Because if he had to say no to you again, to leave you while you begged for him to stay another time, he would crumble. How could he not when he was denying everything inside of him that pleaded for him to just stay?
You began to panic as he walked off. You couldn’t let him leave again.
“Dru please, you can’t keep doing this, you said, following after him. “You have to live your life.”
“I have a life, that village is my life,” he said, turning back to you.
“You should let them go, Druig. It’s time,” you said, taking a step forward. “Come stay with me.”
“Y/N, that village is important to me,” he said, struggling to find a reason you weren’t right. Deep down, he knew you were right.
“And I’m not?” you asked.
Druig furrowed his brows in distress, fearing he couldn’t make the right decision. Why couldn’t he just stay? Just be happy here with you?
As the thoughts swirled in his mind, he felt the tension in his head building. The headache pounded harder in his skull as he watched you turn on your heels and make your way up the stairs. With a hand holding the tender space on his forehead, he chased after you.
“Dove, please wait,” he said.
“Just go, Druig,” you shouted over your shoulder. “If that’s what you want, then go!”
“Please, just stop!” he said. He could feel the pain building, the panic in his chest growing. He couldn’t leave you on a bad note again.
He pleaded behind you as you left him, chasing you up the stairs and begging for you to just stop.
“Y/N please!” He shouted desperately.
Suddenly, you stopped. As if your body wasn’t your own, you turned to face him. His eyes were glowing yellow and you couldn’t move.
Before you could even grasp what was happening, it was over. You shook your arms as control returned. Druig’s eyes were his normal blue. But they were distressed, regretful, and panicked. He messed up.
He controlled you.
You froze, this time of your own doing, considering what had just happened.
“Dove, I’m so, so sorry,” he said, rushing towards you; the realization of what he’d accidentally done dawned on him.
Quickly, you took a fidgety step back away from him. He paused, taking in the situation. You were afraid of him.
“I’m sorry,” he said, tearing his eyes from your line of sight. “I didn’t realize I, I’m sorry.”
Finally coming back to yourself, you tried to reach for his hand. But he had already left.
Present Day - Belfast, Ireland
Druig walked up the steps to the ornate building in front of him. Sprite and Thena followed behind as he took in the large campus. It was only fitting that you'd end up teaching at a university. You were one of the smartest people he knew. And you loved to watch the humans grow and learn.
He waited on the steps as students filed out of the building. Sprite had figured out when your class would let out. Now he just had to wait.
The sea of lively students chatted amongst themselves as they rushed from the doorway, he desperately searched the crowd for your familiar face. When he finally saw you, it was as if the breath was knocked from his lungs.
You hadn’t changed much. But two centuries of fashion did take him by surprise. Instead of the modest, linen dresses he’d last seen you in on the coast of Greece, you wore a loose pair of grey pants, a long and flowing cream blouse, and brown flats. He never got tired of seeing how each culture and century dressed you.
Before he could turn back to the women behind him, he felt something tick in his brain. When he glanced back at your face, he saw your eyes meeting his. He could have sworn his brain was malfunctioning, you smiled at him.
You stopped in your tracks as you took him in through the crowd of people passing between you. He looked the same. The same clothing, the same hair. But what was new was the evil eye strung around his neck.
You couldn’t help the smile that broke across your face as you locked eyes with his blue ones. Your head gestured back to the building behind you, before turning back inside hoping he’d follow.
-
“So you’re saying I’m a robot?” you asked Sprite as you leaned against the counter behind you.
“Well, kinda,” she said, trying to help you grasp the situation. “But that doesn’t matter. You need to come with us.”
You glanced to Thena for her opinion. Her lips became a flat line as she nodded in agreement with Sprite.
The young eternal kept rambling, but you weren’t processing it. You couldn’t stop staring at Druig. He paced around the art studio, taking in all the large canvases that sat on easels and racks.
“Could we have a minute?” you asked the two, still looking at Druig. He froze at your request, making it clear he was still listening despite how he tried to keep up his aloof demeanor.
Sprite scoffed as she made her way out of the room, pretending to gag as she glanced at Druig and you. Thena smiled to herself, giving your shoulder a soft squeeze as she followed Sprite out.
Druig stirred by the window, unable to face you yet.
“I missed you,” you said. Your head tilted as you continued to examine his movements. He was nervous, it was obvious ashe fidgeted and picked at his cuticles.
“Did you get my letters?” You asked.
He paused. Of course, he got your letters. Every single one. They were bundled together with string and tucked under his pillow back at the village.
You never went a month without sending one. Ever since he left that island that day. You’d told him of your travels, everywhere you ended up over the decades. He’d read them all by candlelight after the village had long turned in for the night. He ruminated over each word; all the smudges of ink by your shaky hands, all the chicken scratch handwriting as you always wrote too fast in an attempt to catch up with your thoughts. He got every single letter. And he could recite them all if you asked.
“I’m sorry,” he said, finally turning to face you.
Your smile faltered as he began to unravel.
“Druig,” you said, trying to stop him.
“No, I’m so, so sorry. I don’t know how many times I can say it,” Druig took slow steps towards you as if preparing himself for you to stumble away from him again. But you didn’t
“I didn’t mean it, it just happened. I was overwhelmed and I couldn’t handle everything, but it’s no excuse. And I just-”
“Dru, it’s okay,” you were suddenly in front of him, your hands taking his. The tremors he could seem to control all those decades suddenly stopped.
“I’m not mad, it’s okay. I understand,” you said.
“I let them go. I’m done, Y/N,” he said, stepping closer to you. “I don’t wanna be a monster, dove.”
Your heart fluttered at that damn nickname. You fucking missed it.
“You were never a monster, Druig. What you can do, what you have to deal with. I’ll never understand it. But I just want what’s best for you,” you slipped a hand through his soft hair as it fell in front of his face. “It’s all I’ve ever wanted.”
“I missed you, so fucking much,” he said, resting his forehead to yours.
You chuckled to yourself, brushing your nose against his as you smiled. Your lips slowly slipped across his, as if asking for permission. As if he’d been waiting for the moment, Druig pulled you close, his lips hungry for you. 7000 years of hunger.
When you finally pulled back, he was smirking like an idiot. You took your hand and ran your thumb across his red lips. He chuckled to himself.
“My beautiful, beautiful Y/N,” he said, his grip on your waist tightening. His accent slurred as he smiled against your cheek.
“What?” you asked, a soft laugh slipping from your lips.
“You’re gonna get killed with me trying to stop this emergence?” he said, jokingly.
“Oh absolutely.”
“I’d kill any celestial if it meant not forgetting you.”

When we say goodbye Pt 1
Tumblr media
Pairings:  Druig X LightBender!Eternal!Reader (Fem)
Summary: Druig and readers time together before he leaves the group. The beginning of her descent into darkness.
Warnings: MCU Violence, Blood, Fighting, I used Fem pronouns, some fluff and angst. Time Jumps
Author's note: I watched Saltburn and then Eternals, got an Idea so here we are my first ever thingy thing. This is part one. I got carried away…. I hope you all enjoy it!
Part Two Part Three
Intricate gold patterns trailed up Y/Ns arms as she used the sunlight around her to create a massive hawk. It took off, sinking its glowing talons into the deviant’s eyes. The creature let out a strangled shriek before biting the bird. The golden creature dissolved in its jaws. Y/N pulled more light together, throwing it at the ugly monster. The ground rumbled under her feet as it fell over.  It held the force of a mini earthquake. She used all the strength in her legs to keep from toppling over. Usually, Y/N had to have help from Thena or one of the other Eternals help her take the deviants down. She could wound them but hardly ever executed.
A deviant that was hidden in the tree line focused on the Y/H/C-haired girl. She stood over its friend, a  wide victorious smile on her face. And did a small dance, proud of herself. It huffed out before taking off toward her. The creature now behind Y/N raised a clawed hand, slashing it through the air with the force of hurricane winds. An ear-splitting scream passed her lips while the deviant’s razor-sharp nails ripped through her flesh. Cutting right through her like a perfectly done steak. A searing heat of pain ran through her body.
"Y/N!" Druig cried out. Within a heartbeat, he took off running to her. Leaving Kingo and Thena to fend for themselves. He knew they were more than capable of handling their situation.  After all, Thena could take three deviants down in the blink of an eye.
Gilgamesh neutralized the deviant attacking the girl, effectively preventing it from killing Y/N. More deviants came out of the trees to defend their fallen, pulling him back to Thenas side. There were more of the creatures in this area than anywhere the group had been before. They were multiplying like bunnies in the spring.
Druig knelt in Y/N's blood as it soaked in to the forest's floor and carefully pulled her head to his lap. His eyes flitted over the crimson wounds, muttering a sorry when a whimper escaped her. Through the blurry haze of pain, she could make out a deviant coming toward the two of them. No one besides Y/N seemed to notice the thing. Without another thought, she used the small patch of sunlight by her fingers directing the stream of light to blind the monster. Cerci took care of the rest.
"Saved my ass again, my sunshine." He smiled that breathtaking smile, pushing her hair out of her face. Druig took a deep breath wiping any emotions he showed off his face. He didn't want to worry his friend.
"I think we are even now," she spoke, inhaling sharp breaths with each word.
Ajak got down by the two, placing her hands on Y/N. A numb, tingling feeling ran through her. It felt like her limbs were waking up after sleeping on them wrong. Even with how many times Ajak has used her abilities on her, it was a sensation she would never get used to. Once Ajak was finished,  Y/N thanked her.  Honestly, the group would have been dead if Arishem hadn't given them Ajak.
Y/N got up to her knees and faced the black-haired menace she called her best friend. She bit her lip, not finding the words she wanted to say. ‘Thank you…I love you.’ Instead, she hugged him.  Druig buried his face in her neck, inhaling in her smell overwhelmed his senses.  A reminder she was still there.
“You’re still here,” he murmured against her neck, causing chills to run down her spine.
“You would miss me if I was gone. Who would accidentally hurt Ikaris for you." Y/N joked, pulling away to look into his beautiful blue eyes.
"You don't even know." He responded. Ruffling her hair before helping her up.
---------
Thena dodged at Y/N. They were training in a secluded  area of a beach. The girl side stepped out of the way effectively blocking the blonde warrior. Thena tried a right hook and Y/N used her arm to block the hit. That was the fourth time in a row. Which was a major improvement.
“See I can fight” Y/N giggled as Thena threw another punch at her.
“You have some things to work on, for your safety.”  Thena responded. She was doing this for Y/N, but Druig had begged her to help. He never asked for anything so she gladly complied.
Y/N managed to hook her leg over Thena’s. Effectively pulling  her down on the sand. She straddled the warrior with a victory smile. Sounds of claps met her ears from a distance. Looking up it was Makkari cheering her on. Thena used the distraction to flip over and pin Y/N down. She wore the victory smirk now.
“You cheated”
“You lost focus.” Thena pulled her up.
“Did you want me to kill you?” Y/N asked exasperated.
“No, but let's go again. This time I won't go easy”
“Easy?” That was outrageous.
Y/N made the first move this round of sparing. Thena effortlessly dodged the attack knocking Y/N down. She glared up at the women, more determined to win. She got up and tried again only to be knocked on her ass once again. Grains of sand fell into her clothes, and stuck  to her sweat. Her hair was all over the place too she knew she had to have looked crazy. Her chest heaved as she began to catch her breath.
Thena put an arm out to help her up but dropped her halfway up. The blonde woman smiled down at her. Y/N  heard a laugh this time. She knew that laugh like it was the air she needed to breathe. He must have made his way over with Makkari. Those two were attached at the hip lately.
“Shut up Dru.”  she called out to her dark haired friend, and bit down on her lip.
Thena helped Y/N back up and got her to her feet this time. Nodding at the girl to go again. There was a moment of hesitation before she lunged back at her screaming. This time she grazed Thena with her fingers, and escaped the movement the warrior made to grab her. There was at least 7 feet between them now. They both waited for the other to make a move. Thena started to go for Y/N’s right but swerved for the left taking the girl for surprise and once again putting her on the sandy floor.
Y/N huffed out, defeated and done for the day. She covered her face with her aching arms. This hit was going to bruise. Druig laughed again.
“Once again, shut up Dru.” He apologized but his tone was joking. She knew he was too amused to mean it.
“You are doing well. In another week you will be able to defend yourself flawlessly.” She pulled Y/N back up to her feet. Signing to Makkari to join her in the city.
Druig was distracted by the sweat glinting off Y/N’s body as she made her way to sit next to him. She dug her bare feet into the warm sand resting her head on her knees. He rubbed her back watching the ocean's waves roll on to the shore.
“You are improving sunshine.” She grunted at his words.
‘Lies’ she thought leaning in to him. Her body hurt all over.
---------
Y/N ran through the crowded town square knocking into some people. She ignored the glares thrown her way, too focussed on finding her friend. She wanted to show him something exciting. He was going to love it. It thrilled her to know she was going to see that soft smile of his.
“Druig!” Y/N yelled when his head of hair came into view.  As soon as he heard her voice, he dropped what was in his hands, looking for her.  A small smile fought its way onto his face as she ran towards him. She quickly closed the remaining distance between them before he could even step forward.
"Yes, my sunshine?" His smile widened as he watched her bounce on the balls of her feet. Obviously excited about something.
"Come with me. I want to show you something." Y/N grabbed his hand, lacing their fingers together. She whisked him off toward the forest. He didn't have the opportunity to say no. Not that he would have denied her anything. He would have walked across hot coals if she so much as asked.
They came to a halt in the middle of a clearing of varying purple colored flowers. Y/N stood, so she was right in front of him, stealing his attention. He used their joined hands to pull her closer. A sparkle crossed his eyes as he rested his forehead against hers. He glanced down at her soft lips. Their lips were a breath away from what they both wanted, but they were too stubborn to do anything.
"Ok, close your eyes, no peeking." she bit down on the inside of her cheek, untangled their fingers, and took a step back. Druig frowned. And reached out to her. She shook her head.
"I swear, Y/N,  if this is a trick. I will not talk to you ever again." That was a lie. Even if it wasn't, she would wear him down. She knew all the right buttons to push to get his attention. A soft musical laugh escaped her before she responded. He yearned to bottle that sound up for a cloudy day.
"Dru, it's not. Now place your hands over your eyes, and no using your powers." He poked her in the side, straightening up before complying with her demands. It earned him another laugh.
Druig could sense her tongue sticking out. Y/N had always done that when she was concentrating. He knew her better than he knew himself. He paid attention to every detail for centuries and stored them in his memory. Druig could read her like an open book. Sometimes he wondered if she knew all her little quirks. How she tousled her hair when she was stressed or when her nose twitched when she wanted to yell.
After a couple minutes, Druig's hands were tugged away from his face. He kept his eyes closed, waiting for her to be truly ready. Afraid to ruin her surprise. Y/N once again laced their fingers together. Druig squeezed her palms, rubbing his thumb across her soft skin.  He could stay like this forever, just the two of them. Although, he would prefer to actually see her.
"Open." It felt like an eternity before he did as she asked.
The scene in front of him was ethereal. Thousands of gold butterflies fluttered around them. Y/N watched as Druigs sapphire blue eyes followed the movements of her creations. There was a lone black one that flew past his face. It looked more like a moth than a butterfly. It landed on a rock before vanishing.
Druig’s whole body was relaxed for the first time in a while. He stared at the spectacle in front of him in utter disbelief. With an extended finger, he coaxed a butterfly to land on it. It spread its wings out as he pulled it up closer to examine. There were delicate patterns on the wings. They looked like any regular butterfly, just dipped in liquid gold.
Druig set the thing on Y/Ns nose and dragged the finger past her lips pulling at her bottom lip and rested on her chin. Her nose scrunched up as the insect walked across her cheek. An affectionate smile took over his face, and his eyes dilated. His finger lingered on her chin a second longer, watching as the butterfly disappeared.
She had butterflies; anytime he touched her or simply looked her way. With that look, he reserved for her alone. It was softer than he ever looked at Makkari. Butterflies were there at the thought of him.
"How is this possible? You can usually only create one thing at a time."  Druig pulled them both down. He sat on the cold ground and her on his lap. He snaked an arm around her waist, holding her close. He rested his chin on her soft hair, keeping his gaze on the moment playing out before him.
"I'm not sure I was playing around, and bam. Butterflies." Y/N paused, making an exploding gesture with her hands. She looked like a kid on their birthday, giddy.
“Not the most frightening thing. But hey, I did it."
"This is wonderful. My beautiful, beautiful sunshine." Y/N leaned her head on his shoulder, watching the glittering butterflies disappear with the sunset. Druig played with her hair absentmindedly, placing a soft kiss on her temple.
----
Y/N stood in the forest with everyone listening to Ajak lecture Druig about controlling the humans. Thena began to twitch and mumble inaudible things next to her. Y/N truly thought it was another insult toward Druig, but she couldn't hear anything as Phastos began yelling. Thena  started to speak a little louder this time.
“Thena?” Sersi said, turning to us looking concerned. “Are you ok?”
“Everyone is going to die” Thenas eyes went a foggy white, and she summoned a polearm ready to attack.
“Sersi!” Y/N cried out trying to get in front of her before Thena could attack. Makkari reacted instantly before the rest of the group knew what was happening, and pulled Sersi out of the warrior's way. Druig focused on Y/N’s cries.
Chaos broke out instantly. The golden weapon managed to hit Phastos. Y/N tried to summon something but there was no light available to pull from. The darkness moved slightly casting shadowy lines on the ground, but she couldn't gain control of them.  Druig yanked her out of the way as Makkari took off with Thena.
Before Druig could even try to stop her, she went running after them. She ran as fast as she could trying to have half the speed Makkari had. He called out to stop her, but she was too far gone, trying to protect those she cared about.
Makkari was hurt on the forest floor. Thena waved her weapon around frantically, nicking the girl in front of her. Drawing blood. Y/N let out a hiss. Was it dumb to run after someone when she can't fight? Absolutely, but she wanted to protect her family.  Thena was about to make a fatal blow, but Ajak stopped it with her hand. She showed no emotion as she stared the warrior down.  It was chilling.
Y/N used the distractions as her opportunity to get to her friend who was laying still. She put pressure on Makkari’s wound to slow the blood loss.Throwing her whole weight on it, which caused the girl under her to flinch.
“It's ok. We will fix this.”  Y/N spoke, trying to keep calm while waiting for Ajak to come. Hoping Makkari would understand her.
Druig knelt next to her putting his hands on top of A/N’s. A worried look flashing through him as he caught sight of the cut on her arm. Ajak was over in no time working on healing them. Gilgamesh stood by looking absolutely guilty for what he had done to Thena.
Druig pulled Y/N to a river washing her hands in the cool water. It was slowly grounding the girl back to reality. He murmured gentle affirmations to her as he scrubbed at her skin.
--
Once again, Druig and Ajak were arguing about the humans. They were all in the confines of a pyramid now. Ikaris involved himself always acting as if he was the one incharge. He threatened Druig. They frequently fought about something stupid and made empty threats. Normally Y/N would defend him. But she was overwhelmed with the dry blood that remained under her nails and Thena laying in front of her. Y/N had found it easy to tune them out through the centuries, turning them into background noise. Her second favorite person was hurting, and she couldn't fix it. This wasn't fair, she thought. Ajak couldn't even truly fix it. Her powers had limits, just like the rest of the group.
Intense words continued to be traded amongst the group. A malicious tone was hidden behind every spoken thought.  Ajak stayed calm; she was the only one with a level head. Y/N stood stark still in a corner, keeping quiet. She tried to become one with the wall behind her. Her eyes were glued to the colorful walls, begging internally for them to calm down and stop.
Eventually,  a stark silence took over the room. Cries of the innocent outside seemed to disappear through the walls. Y/N glanced up,  examining the small space. Druig was rushing out. No one moved from their place to stop him. They just watched.
Y/N began to hyperventilate; the air was thinning out. Dru wasn't going to say goodbye? Was our friendship a lie? Did he only put up with me for entertainment?  Poisonous thoughts raced through her head. Her feet had their own mind and made her take off after him.
"Druig!" Y/N Shouted, bolting down the stairs. She wanted to beg him to stop… to come back and say it was all a sick joke. She yearned for him to tell her he would never leave her behind.
‘Stay with me, please.’ She begged him subconsciously.  Her thoughts were so loud that she was half convinced he could hear them when he flinched. Y/N knew it was selfish, but she needed him
A choked sob escaped her as her feet hit the flat ground. It felt as if her heart was making its way to her throat. The thing beat rapidly against her ribs like a stampede of gazelles being chased as prey. It was almost painful.
"Dru, please." He didn't respond, only walked at a faster pace. Y/N yelled out again. One last desperate attempt to get his attention.
This time, he stopped surrounded by the people under his control. Y/N blinked back the tears, threatening to fall. She placed a hand over her mouth, smothering a sob. Druig’s hands clenched into tight fists. He watched the people in front of him, all unmoving not even a blink.
"Please- Please don't leave me."  Y/N’s voice cracked. Deep inside her soul, she knew this was goodbye. He turned to face her, eyes dilated. Instead of sapphire blue, she was met with black pools of obsidian. She stepped forward. The people were already on the defense with her movements towards the Eternal. Druig stopped them immediately she was no threat, and no harm would come to her at his hand.
"My beautiful, beautiful sunshine. I have to go. Arishems plan is not for me.” Druig cautiously wiped away a stray tear from her cheek. He never wanted to be the reason for those tears, but this was what was best for her. She would regret leaving with him, and he couldn't ask her to leave the people she loved so much. Y/N closed her eyes. Tipping her head up to the starry sky, she let out a depleted laugh.
“You are going to do wonderful things." He mumbled. Before he could stop it, he pulled her in for a hug. Druig held on tighter than usual. She wrapped herself around his frame, taking in the comfort of his hold. He buried his face in her neck. They fit together perfectly. As if they were sculpted for each other. They were two pieces of a puzzle meant to be lost. He pulled away slowly and tucked loose strands of Y/N's hair behind her ears. Then placed a gentle kiss on the tip of her nose before resting his forehead against hers.
"Please." she choked on her tears, reaching out to cup his face. She held on to him like one would hold an injured bird. Druigs eyes flashed through emotions before going blank.  Oh how he wanted to be selfish, but he couldn't ask her to leave. He wiped away another tear, yearning to stop her pain. Their lips were mere inches apart. He could take the one thing he's wanted since he met her on that ship.  But he couldn't do that to her. He was a selfish man, just not when it came to her.
"You need them, and they need you." He took a step back and locked his jaw. It took everything in his soul to not reach out and grab her. He forced himself to walk away.
"No." She whispered as she watched him retreat through the flaming city. Her heart shattered with each step he took with his new followers. A darkness began to fill in the cracks.
"I-I need you." she whispered to the air once he was gone.

Tumblr media
Stars don’t fall for men, and gods don’t come down from the heavens for men. There were stories passed down in the commune, that the leader was a god that came down with other gods. That they were there when the first civilizations were forged, guiding man as they advanced.
The leader had always loomed in the community like a shadow, with his dark robes and his black hair against his pale skin, he was like some dark angel on Earth. He would walk around and deal with troubles in the community, settling disputes and administering justice. You’ve grown fond of him, he was always gentle to you, his soft voice always over your shoulder showering you with praises as you cooked for everyone.
After everyone was served dinner he thanked you for the wonderful meal and asked if you would meet him before midnight outside his cabin. You stood outside his door under the moonlight, it grew quite dark in the commune at night when the torches were turned off. His voice creaked in the door like he instantly knew of your presence. Come in, his voice echoed in your head.
You opened the door to his cabin, it was a small space. There was a fireplace at the back of the room with an antique throne chair near it, his bed at the side with animal furs as rugs. There were some old relics on a shelf along with some old leather-bound books. Some torches lit the room, the cold air leaving your skin in exchange for the heat of the fire.
“How was your day?” he asked, approaching you with a swiftness that felt inhuman. His hand reached for yours, warm around your cold palms. His blue eyes were set on yours. “Dinner was splendid as always.”
“It was good,” you said, your voice hitched at the end of the sentence. “I’m glad you liked it.”
“Well, you’re always splendid,” he said smiling. Your eyes were set on your feet avoiding his gaze. His index finger touches your chin, lifting it so that your eyes meet his. “Let me see those pretty eyes.”
You swore for a second that his eyes glimmered a faint gold.
“Do you know what people say about me?” he asked, leaving you to place more wood on the fire. There were indeed whispers about Druig. That he was a god with the power to influence people’s minds, or that he was one of the angels that rebelled against god.
“They say you were a trickster, that you toyed with man’s deepest desires,” you said. He hovered around you, his cold presence made the hairs on your skin rise. “Or that you’re a fallen angel.”
“I’m no angel,” he laughs. “But I do know everyone’s deepest fantasies.”
“How so?”
“Not important—but it is interesting that you find the idea of me seducing you somewhat arousing,” he whispered to your ear. You fell back in shock, your back falling into his chest. He trails his nose on the skin on your nape, taking in your scent.
You had thought about it, his dominating presence was arousing to you. You would sometimes think of it at night as you touched yourself, wanting him to take you for his. Maybe the whispers were right, he truly was a trickster god.
“What a naughty boy you are,” he smirked, he traced his fingers on your arm, his light touches drove you insane. You wanted him to touch you so bad. “If I told you that the whispers are true would you run away from me?”
“No.”
“No, what?”
“No, sir.”
He walked around so that his body was in front of you, towering over you. “Do you trust me?” he said, his hands cupping your face.
“Yes, sir.”
He takes you near the fireplace, taking a seat on the throne chair, legs sprawled. Kneel, his voice whispered inside your head, as if it were your thoughts. Tonight you give up yourself to me, that is what you want right? You nod, looking up at him as you knelt.
Show me how you pleasure yourself to the thought of me.
Your cock throbbed inside your pants, you palmed it to the sound of his voice inside your head. You took out your sex and started stroking, it was achingly hard. You let saliva drip out of your lips to your cock, the slippery sensation drawing out moans from you. You see him start to palm his erection, looking at you with a smirk on his lips, something about this amused him.
He took out his thick cock and started to stroke it at the very same pace you were stroking. His free hand cupped his balls as his pink tip glistened against the fire. In your head, you would have crawled to him and taken him into your mouth. You felt drunk like any sense of inhibition was taken away from you as your fingers wrapped around your cock.
Would you give yourself up to me?
You nodded like a hungry dog, eyes beady in front of him. Druig looked down onto the moaning mess at his feet, cock leaking, your face flushed as your hand pumped your sex. He wanted to take things further, control your mind to his pleasure. To place himself inside your body for him to control, he had never done it with anyone, but your pleading eyes made him almost lose it.
“Please use me, sir.”
That was it. You saw his eyes fully glow a bright gold, like shining stars in front of you. Your body felt light like your soul lifted from your body. You were fully aware of your body’s sensations but you couldn’t move your limbs. Druig was in control of your body, he could feel your hardness alongside his. With his own will, your hands started to stroke your cock, his hand stroking his own at the same pace. It felt like someone else’s hands were stroking you, it was a strange but satisfying feeling.
Your body felt insane, like your body had two souls, your and his taking control of your body. Your hips started to thrust into your hand, you were fully fucking your hand like it were someone's body. Druig’s hand was already wet with precum, the slippery sounds of your cocks filled the room alongside the sounds of burning wood. The sight was intoxicating to Druig, a moaning mess, you were. Your body crawled nearer to him, his hand running through your hair as he pumped his cock.
Your whole arm was moving like clockwork, stroking your member to the point that it was aching red, leaking precum on the carpeted floor. Druig was close, his hips bucking into his hand as his chest heaved. You were already panting, sweat dripping down your forehead. You looked up at him, mouth agape as you reached for air. Druig projected his pleasure to your mind, the feeling was so alien to your body that it drew your mind to a blur, the pleasure coursing through your body like a strange wave of electricity.
The feeling of the two of you nearing climax in your feeble mundane mind was sending you into ecstasy, you were panting like crazy, Druig too. He was groaning under his breath, his thick cock blushing pink as he stood up holding your head. At the same stroke of your hands, you shot cum on his leather boots crying out in pleasure, as Druig let out a loud groan of pleasure as his cum released into your mouth, some smearing across your face.
You dropped down to the carpet floor in fatigue, chasing your breath after what happened. Druig picked you up and carried you to his bed, cleaning you up with a damp cloth. He later joined you in bed, stroking your hair as he whispered praises into your ear. Myths were right, the trickster god did indeed toy with people’s pleasure.
interactions are greatly appreciated btw if u liked this fic and want more send me a prompt and i'd gladly make something from it :>

Golden eyed phantom ch 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pairing Druig x reader
Rating explicit 18+ only minors ageless blank and non unadapted blogs will be blocked.
Plot: phantom of the opera au
Warnings: Some smut (im still learning how so go easy on me) fingering, dream sex, mind control but not dark)
Tumblr media
The opera de popular was one of the crown jewels of paris, a place where dreams and nightmares can become a reality. It’s also where young (y/n) (l/n) found themselves living after the untimely death of their only living relative, their father. With no living family and no prospective husband (y/n) would have been homeless if not for Madame Ajak, the kindly dance instructor of the opera and a dear friend to the girls late father.
Madame Ajak became the mother you never knew, kind, caring, always able to cure any physical ailment that seemed to bother her or anyone else, with Madame came Sersi. She was another girl that had grown up in the opera. Madame Ajak was unable to have children of her own so she adopted Sersi when she was just a baby. The young woman was only a few years older then (y/n) and the two became fast friends. Sersi showed you the ins and outs of the opera house, really the ins and outs of Paris. Many times she would take you out and about to learn about your new home and everything in it including the rest of the people that would make up your new family. The first members you met came in the form of Gilgamesh and Thena.
Gilgamesh was the chief of security for the opera house. He was a giant boulder of a man well built and very intimidating at first glance, that is until he smiles at you and turns into the giant teddy bear he is. Always making sure all of us are safe and sneaking in baked goods every now and then. You wouldn’t know just from looking at him but he was an amazing baker, especially his pies they were to die for. With Gilgamesh came his partner Thena, she was gorgeous a goddess without even trying. She was the stunt, fighting and weapons expert for the opera and many other production houses in Paris. Many people thought she was a model but the mere thought made her grimace, “Why would I want to be a model and have to care what everyone thought of me?” Even though she had a tough exterior she was also very kind in her ways. Thena was determined for all of us younger girls at the opera to be able to protect ourselves, teaching everyone basic self defense and warning signs and so on and so forth. She was truly a ferocious mama bear if she wanted to be, to you she just became a protective aunt.
Next up was, without a doubt, your favorite trio, Phastos,Sprite and Makkari. All three worked backstage, keeping the opera house running as fabulously as it does. Phastos was the head engineer/ prop master. If something needed to be built he was the guy, his creations awe inspiring, some looking as though they had come straight out of the future, but he was still humble enough to answer any questions you or anyone had about the devices. Alongside Phastos worked sprite. She was young that was undeniable but boy was she talented, A true artist she was the head set designer and painter. Everything she created was so stunning you couldn’t even tell it wasn’t real. While Phastos was somewhat humble, Sprite was spunky, quick witted and sharp tongue when wronged. She halted being looked down on because of how young she looked and would lay into anyone who belittled her.
Makkari was a completely different story, even though she was deaf that did not stop her. Always with a kind smile on her face she ran around helping pull everything together. She was the resident lighting and stage hand always in the right place at the right time, almost like there were seven of her. When she wasn’t working she would be in the shopping district, dragging (y/n) with her to oogle all the shiny and sparkly Knick knacks, all the beautifully colored fabrics and imports coming in. In fact that's how Kingo was introduced.
Kingo was a fashionista, a real eye for how to make everyone look their best with one look.he was the opera's resident costume designer / understudy. Kingo dreamed of being on stage; he knew all the words, all the songs, everything, but sadly his time in the spotlight had not yet come. Everyone always reassured him his time would come, in fact you would always run lines with him whenever he was feeling down, he was over the top dramatic for sure but so entertaining. Probably the only thing more entertaining was picking on him with sprite and makkari. His reaction to the twos joke always brought a smile to your face, and was almost a bonding experience with the other girl.
During the day there was enough to distract you from your sullen thoughts. In particular the formation of a new found family, always there to relieve you of your boredom and loneliness but at night it was a different story. About a month after you had arrived you sat in the opera's small chapel, lighting a candle for your fathers soul. You guess your gentle weeping is what brought forth the angel's song, but all you really remember is the gentle glowing gold of the candles or at least you think it was the candles but you didn't really care as the feelings of calm wash over you with the soft timber of the angel's voice. At night or really whenever you were alone the angel would speak to you. Teach you the ways of the opera house and the music that went along with it. He was a mystic presence, always there but never in reach.
He invaded your whole life, when not learning from him at night your dreams started turning to him.
It would start with his voice, hearing it in your head as you drifted to sleep, the scene would change to a candle lit backdrop, soft smells of vanilla fill the air, a dreamy feeling wanders around you, then you would feel hands wrap around you. They were strong, long fingers as they wandered up and down your frame. You dare not turn around not wanting the feelings he provokes from you to end too quickly.
Tumblr media
You watch as those glorious hands gently slide up your leg taking your thin night shift with them until they reach your core. A branding iron of heat in eloping you as he probes you. Fingers lightly playing with your clit as his lips caressed your ear, words ringing through your very soul it felt
“My beautiful beautiful muse, I've waited so long for you. I’ll never forget the day I first heard your voice, it was like hearing a blessing.”
You couldn’t even articulate words to reply to him shivering as hard as you were from merrily his touch.
“I can not wait for the day you truly belong to me. Mind. Body. And soul”
You feel his fingers stroking in tune to his words. Marking his point deep within your walls, but before you are able to climb to the peak a loud ringing sounds from beside you
“Ignore it”
You try of course but the ringing doesn’t stop. With each ring the scene around you shakes, deteriorating back into the blackness that waits behind your rapidly opening eyes. You sit up in shock, eyes trying to adjust to your bedroom as your alarm rings beside you. Your body still shivering from the after effects of the dream you just had.
Tumblr media
Five years had passed, under your teachers guidance your gift bloomed but the only people you would even attempt to try to sing for would be your new family, and that was only light humming. The dreams became normal as well. Usually they happened after working with your mysterious and gracious master. You never learned anything more about him. All you knew was his voice but the one in your dreams seemed to evolve.
First was his hands and then his arms then his legs, his back, even a head of dark brown hair. But never his face. It was starting to vex you honestly, every time waking up from the pure euphoria of those dreams too have reality slap you in the face of how lonely you felt. Not that your new family did not appease your heart, in fact being with them was as natural as breathing. To be honest you couldn't describe what was wrong with you, all you could summarize it as was that it felt like part of you was missing.
Tumblr media
A week after your 24th birthday the new owners of the opera appeared and with them came someone familiar.
“Listen up everyone!” Mr Richard's the old owner calls to everyone, all of us currently gathered on the main stag rehearsing the latest show
“I would like to introduce the new owners of the opera Monsieur Nelson and Monsieur Murdock.”
Everyone claps all clambering around to get the best views of the two young owners. You had to admit neither were horrible looking, you thought it was interesting for a blind person to want to buy an opera but it made sense to, even if he couldn’t see the performances, listening to them was the next best thing.
‘Thank you all, thank you we are both very happy to start our adventures in the arts.” Mr Nelson started “We would also like to introduce our generous backer Count Ikaris de solar.” Finished Mr Murdock to when a handsome brunette stepped onto stage to everyone’s approval and applause.
“Ikaris?” You gasped out as everyone continued to clap and awe over the count
“Do you know him (y/n)?” Sersi asks confusingly
“Yes, we knew each other as children. We were somewhat close before his family moved away, I can’t believe that's truly him.”
Before you get another word in, a loud clearing of the throat silences everyone. Mademoiselle Ayesha and her pompous son Adam, step through the crowd in their fine costumes. The madame was the current lead soprano for the opera even though you thought she couldn't sing for shit. Her voice was almost as grating as her attitude towards everyone. Sprite assumed the only reason she was given any parts was because of her stupidly wealthy family and late husband. But you choose not to comment on that. The woman stands there covered in gold and signals to the maestro to start at the top of her aria once more
Tumblr media
Oh no she's starting again Sersi says from beside you already getting ready to cover her ears. In fact you can even see the housekeeping staff in the audience stuffing Cotton in their ears. The woman doesn’t get but a few lines in the aria her screeching tone ringing through the stage before the rolled up backdrop above her comes crashing down. The light but sturdy fabric lands on top of the soprano pinning her belly flopped to the stage floor to the shocks and screams of everyone around.
They rush to help the woman up but the damage to her pride is too great. She starts screeching about all the previous accidents directed at her, of all the misfortune and indignity that has befallen her and how she will not stand for it any longer. Mr Murdock simply stands there letting the scene unfold as Mr Nelson loses his mind along the diva as she. Stomps her heel gathering all her things, her son and their people and promptly leaving
The new owners were in a tissy (mostly foggy) wondering how they are supposed to open tomorrow with no star. How this whole adventure is now wasted. Madame Ajak promptly interrupts, saving Mr Nelson from a full melt down, handing the duo a dark black envelope with a giant red wax seal on it.
“Where did that come from?” You ask Sersi
“That confirms it then, It must was the phantom”
“The phantom?”
“Have you honestly not heard the others talk about this?
“No?”
She just shakes her head at you before filling you in on the details
“He's a mysterious person, some say he’s a ghost, others a demon but no one knows for sure. They say he's been here forever always making his presence known. In fact the previous owner used to pay him a monthly wage just to appease him, that and that box number 5 be kept empty for him whenever he wishes. Everything was going well but this past couple years he has gotten a little more devious.
“Why?”
No one really knows, and everyone’s afraid to ask or look around afraid they’ll never be seen again.
Before you can ask sersi more your name is being called.
“(Y/n)(l/n) can do it.”
What?” You had missed the conversation between the two new owners and Madame Ajak
One of your dances can replace the star diva from the past 5 years.? Your sure about that?
“Foggy why don't we give the girl a chance”
“Matt this is doing nothing for. My nerves
You stand there like a deer in headlight hoping you could somehow slip to the back and out of sight but Sersi sees you growing anxiety and gently but firmly directs you towards Ajak.
Madame gently took you from her daughter and lead you to the center of the stage
“Madame what,,,,but,, I,,,”
“It will be alright dear. I've heard you practice these last couple of years when you sneak off at night, and i know your teacher has taught ypu well”
“My teacher?”
Ajak just gives you a knowing look before she turns towards the maestro and nods at him leaving you standing there as everyone watches.
You hear quiet cheer from stage left where your little opera family all stand giving you thumbs up and right smiles, trying to ease your nerves, though it doesn’t really help, it's not till you look up towards the grand chandler that that gentle calming glow envelops your senses once more.
“From the top of the aria mademoiselle”
The band picks up and the music begins to play
Tumblr media
To be honest you don't remember much after that. It was a whirlwind of activity. Being swept off stage and quickly fitted into costumes, stage managers telling you where you need to stand, color spotting you with lights all the fixing basically to make it seem like you were always meant to be in the role.
You didn't know that while you sang your heart out on stage a certain young count had finally taken notice of you
“(Y/n)?”
“That’s the girl that used to follow you around?” Count Arishem Ikarus’s father ask begrudgingly
“Yes father that's the daughter of that famous violinist tha lived near our old summer home.”
“Well, well we may have found ourselves a diamond in the rough after all. The elder count scrutinizes the crowd all gawking at the peasant, like she's a princess. All he sees is an opportunity to boost his family further, the gears of his plan already forming in his mind.
Phantoms pov
There she is at last! Right where she belongs, my beautiful beautiful muse.

Procesión de la Muerte (Procession of the Dead) - Druig x Hecate!Eternal Reader Halloween Oneshot
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pairings: Druig x Hecate!Eternal Reader, Druig x Kaetlyn Word Count: over 4.0k Summary: How a wife's love for her emo-pacifist mind-controller husband accidentally created a centuries old legend of the Amazon Rainforest, ended up bringing to light one of the most sacred and honored celebrated traditions in South and Central America. Warning(s): Words that are bold and italisized indicate spoken in another language bc I can't speak nor write Spanish & don't want to offend anyone by using Google Translate, Angst, mention of death & genocide & war (fun stuff y'all), mentions of depression and PTSD, slight mention of blood, necromancy practices, probably really inaccurate descriptions of magic and magical practices, Kaet is seriously so gone for Druig (i fucking love these two dorks), Cerberus is the goodest boi,
Notes: Yes, I know that Halloween has technically passed, but I had midterms and projects during the time so I'm using the rest of the season as a Free Fall fics pass until December. So this oneshot was beta read by the ever-so lovely @ethereal-athalia, who has so graciously sacrificed herself agreed to beta read all of my fics for the upcoming future while my usual beta reader @valeskafics, is currently really busy with law school until the foreseeable future! Even so, please go visit her blog because she is one of the best writers on Tumblr, especially if you are a fan of Ewan Mitchell, and the HOTD/GOT universe! If you have read any of my past works, you know that my girl @ethereal-athalia is pretty much the co-parent of this Eternals AU idea, and I absolutely love sharing ideas with her, and making connections to make these fics more interesting. Anyway, please be kind and enjoy!
Tumblr media
There was an energy that encompassed the autumnal season’s high holiday that made its ancient magic so enchanting and powerful. It was a time known across practitioners of the mystic arts of any field that autumn was a season known more than for its abundance and harvest. It was a time of transformation, of when summer’s green fertility gave way to winter’s bleak barrenness. It was when the veil between the physical and spiritual planes was at its thinnest. A time in which both magic practitioners and mundane were able to catch the slightest glimpse to the other side. This was the time where magic was at its peak, and it was all because of you- his love; his wife; his angel of shadow & death who was also his harbinger of light & life.
Although the environment of his home rarely changes throughout the year, Druig still felt the unmistakable chills that danced on his bare skin that came with transition from summer to autumn, and from there approached winter’s foreshadowing. Despite the abandonment of summer’s warmth, the mind-controller Eternal was often teased by you for being considered an avid enthusiast for the unforgiving seasons by the standards of their family. However, it was Samhain that made your husband greet the year’s end with such glee. Furthermore, it was a day that would forever be etched into the bareness of his being by the testaments of your love and devotion towards him. Each act from you followed from an event that harrowed him.
But the only way to best understand was by starting at the beginning.

It was no secret that you worked best at night with the only witnesses to your work being the moon and stars. Although you adored the bustling livelihood that thrived in the village you and your husband created, there was something about the darkness and solitude of the night that made Kaetlyn feel more connected to her magic than the garish light of day could ever dream to accomplish. It was common for Kaetlyn would burn the midnight oil conducting experiments and immerse herself in research to secrets that still remained a mystery to her – even after 7000 years of existence.
Meanwhile, Druig would fall into a deep state that vaguely resembled a still corpse if it were not for the subtle rising and falling of his chest in tandem with his breathing. When the lily-pale mind-controller fell asleep, there was little that could get him up from his slumber. Too many times Ajak had lectured him for how late he would sleep into the day – not to mention the staggering occurrences in which he would accidentally sleep through a natural catastrophe. It became commonplace for their former leader to ask his lover to awaken him in the most compromising acts. It was inconvenient, but it got the job done.
But since the couple separated from their family as a result of witnessing the fall and horrific genocide of the once glorious Aztec civilization centered around Tenochtitlan from the Spanish Conquistadors, there would be nights where Druig would be unable to fall asleep. It did not matter what he would do in attempt to tire him, his memory of fire and screams plagued his mind in an endless cycle of misery and devastation. It did not matter that he prevented further bloodshed by taking over the minds of the humans; it mattered even less when he and his angel led the horde of mortals south from the ruins to the land that they now call home. Sleep always evaded the somber Eternal, and whatever sleep he managed to get would be afflicted by memories turned nightmares of the horrors he had been forced to witness as a bystander to humanity’s cruelty by orders of their former leader.
The sight of your dearest in such agony tore your heart in the most brutal manner. Although you had also been long tormented by watching 7000 years of destruction, your heart had been hardened as a consequence to the multitude of deaths that you had to personally oversaw as a physician and a fighter. While you still carried hope for mankind, most of the naïve idealist dreams expired with time. However, this was not the case for Druig. You knew more than anyone that the strength of your lover’s will was overshadowed by the tenderness in his heart for those weaker than him and his family. It was that persisting quality of the beautiful mind-controller that drew the impulsive shadow wielder into his orbit, and eventually what caused such enduring steadfastness from your part.
It was not without tremendous effort from his wife’s part to get the immortal insomniac to get some rest. But all of your efforts were wasted on her part. Every night you would lead Druig to your shared bed, and whisper sweet words of comfort, as well as voicing your desperate pleas for him to finally rest. You would carefully stroke the firm lines of his frame with the tender touch of her fingertips, quickly finding areas of taut muscle to knead away any knots with your skillful hands. You had created countless versions of sleeping draughts that would calm his mind, and thousands of potions that would prevent him from dreams. But memories held more power than dreams, and so all of your efforts were met with the continued grief of your beloved.
Not being able to bear the sight of Druig’s turmoil, you decided to take further action. With your talents in the arcane, you designed a complex ritual that could only be completed at a grand scale- one that would take over an entire continent. It involved a form of magic that took up so much power and energy, it was only to be used as a last resort in any form of situation- necromancy. A magic that was only possible in theory, its crudest form was born before the outermost Walls of Babylon had yet to be constructed. You were approached by a shaman that was outcasted by her tribe when her husband discovered that she had been sacrificing their livestock to Ereshikigal, the Mesopotamian Queen of the Dead that ruled the Underworld. The woman had thought the Eternal to be the goddess herself, and begged you to allow the woman to see her late son that died in a raid.
Replying with only that her son was in peace in the higher dome in the heavens, you advised the shaman to return to her husband and perform a cleansing ritual to purify their home from the anger of the murdered animals. However, the shaman only pressed further, blurting out that the spirit of her son had been calling out to her in dreams. She revealed that she would stop until her son was at peace in the arms of Anu in An. Against you better judgement, you allowed yourself to be swayed by the mother’s grief, telling her that she would try her best to guide her son to the heavens so that he may rest in peace, but there would be no guarantee of success. After the woman gave her thanks by kneeling to the ground in a deep bow, you set off to work.
The Eternal spent months scouring over texts that theorized the use of magic manifestation, and detailed dreams of the dead rising. You recruited Makkari to search for more artifacts and texts in efforts to make the poor woman’s request a reality, a favor the silent speedster was more than happy to fulfill. It was only when winter was soon to be upon them that you were able to summon enough energy to prepare the ritual. Tracing a circle into the earth to serve as a temporary portal to the spiritual realm, the Eternal carved in the symbols that would allow you to put greater focus into directing the energy in the circle to attract the spirit’s energies before trapping it within its boundaries. From there, you would use the symbols that you painted on your skin to allow the magic around you to deconstruct the spirit’s current form into unbound electromagnetic particles, before reconstructing the matter into a more visible form. This flow of energy and change in the state of matter could only be achieved by physically placing your hands in the center of the circle. Using a mixture of your blood and the mother’s as a medium for the spirit to bind to so that there would not be such a large gap in the energy needed to activate the spell, it was finally complete.
It should have not have come as a surprise to her when she lost consciousness towards the end of the ritual. The raw power that connected her body to the earth felt as if liquid fire was coursing through her veins. The painted symbols became carvings as they dug into her body with searing pain as blood poured from the wounds. And though her body collapsed and she was too exhausted to keep her eyes open, Kaet knew that she was successful. As she laid on the ground, two words belonged to a young man’s voice echoed in her ear.
“Thank you.”
And from a budding magical practitioner’s too soft heart, came forth the rawest and crudest form of one of the most innately unstable and powerful fields of magic- necromancy.
From that day, the symbols took permanent residence on your skin, along with the ability to see the dead that were tied to the physical world, unable to move on for whatever reason. And although you adored your newfound power, Druig made you promise to never commit such acts on your own ever again. The ancient witch was met with screams of panic from Sersi when she and Sephia ventured out in search for you after seeing that you had not been in your room that morning. The site of you lying in a pool of your own blood with unfamiliar symbols etched into your skin was haunting to say the least.
Tumblr media
The risk of your husband staring at you with glaring disappointment and furious worry was one worth taking if it meant that he could finally allow himself to rest. It took years of careful preparation; painfully precise attention to detail and timing; and endless travels across the globe to scour for masters in various fields of magic that specialized in divination, transformation, and theology. After nearly 10 years, when the veils between the two worlds finally overlapped for magic to reach its peak- along with the aid provided by the appearance in the hare moon’s rarity (when the earth was in perfect alignment with the Sun and Moon)- you knew that there was no time better than now.
That night, you sent out your shadows to search for any souls from the same genocide that haunted her beloved, and if they were in a state of unrest. You handed the village’s Head Weaver a small leather bag filled with ebony wood beads strung together and red string. While you hated to keep secrets from Druig, you knew that he would be able to sense the shift in the energies that surrounded them if you were successful. When the preparations were finally completed and your oldest shadow informed you of the location of the ritual, you left the bracelet that the Weaver finished – enchanted with spell that would be activated the same time of the ritual – on your pillow of their bed as you laid a tender kiss on his brow before setting off with only Cerberus by your side.
Tumblr media
When Druig rose from his slumber – still wrought with gunpowder and fire – he instinctually reached for his wife, only for his fingers to feel a smooth, rounded texture. Opening his eyes, he noticed that your pillow was cold, but showed signs being slept in from the previous night. While such a sight would cause a much more panicked reaction from the man, he was comforted by the small note that laid carefully next to his gift. Picking up the parchment, a sense of calm washed over Druig as he took in the notes of jasmine and myrrh that come from your natural parfum.

Tumblr media
My dearest Beloved,
I am sure that my absence from our bed must have been a rather awful shock to you. Please know that I am more than well, and have only been informed of unusual occurrences full of malicious whispers and daunting sights. And as much as I adore our home and your company, you know more than anyone of how my curiosity cannot be satisfied with only rumors and tales. No, I decided that it would be best to see it with my very own eyes. And although it would bring me nothing but joy to have you by my side, I could not bear wake you from your slumber. Rest suits my love, and it has been decades since you have slept so fitfully. Your dreams have been a constant source of your misery, and I do believe that this area may hold some promise to show me of how to ease your mind.
Rest assured my darling that I have travelled alone in my endeavors, I would never be so careless as to travel so far from you without the company of our sweet boy. Do not dare tell another soul of this, but I believe that the trek will do our boy some good. He has grown very lazy as a result of your spoiling. Yes, your spoiling, Druig- all coddling of Cerbie has been solely enacted by you, and none whatsoever committed by me. Do not dare attempt to argue this matter with me, for I would deny it till my final breath (and you know how stubborn I can be).
What did you think of my gift? During one of my many wanderings in the woods surrounding our home, I spied a dying tree with jet-black lumber. It stood in solitude from its thicket, but that only made its splendor even more enchanting, so much so that it reminded me of you. I used one of its branches to make some wooden beads, and asked for some leather to bind them. Please make sure that you wear them at all times, as they’ll reveal a little secret that will be revealed to you on the night of the full moon that will be arriving soon.
All of my love for you and your heart,
Kaetlyn
Despite the overall lack of sleep over the years, all of Druig’s anxiety seemed to wash away at your thoughtfulness. The bracelet was very elegant in its simplicity, but he could tell that it was made to last for lifetimes. Placing it on his wrist, a blanket of subtle warmth washed over him as he admired the little symbols carved into the wood. Tracing his finger over the design, he certified them to match that were etched into his angel’s lovely form. He would recognize the markings anywhere; it would be shameful if he didn’t after spending hours tracing their outline with his tongue. The knowledge that the full moon’s rising would begin tomorrow, and last for around 2-3 days. Relieved that he would not be without the company of his love for very long, Druig prepared himself for another day in protecting the compound and the humans that reside within its boundaries.
Tumblr media
After you managed to track down the location of the largest gathering of souls, you set off preparations for the ritual immediately. A ceremony of this magnitude would shift the energies between the two worlds for the rest of eternity, so it was imperative that there would be no mistakes. Sephia already had instructions of ensuring that pathways that followed the ley lines in her journey would remain clear of any natural obstacles. It seemed too perfect that the fall of such a grand civilization that met its end with war and genocide would be at the center of such innate hidden supernatural energy. Tracing the circle around the entire city, you sat at the top of the very same temple where she and Druig had last seen the others. As the time of the moon’s rising grew shorter, you could feel the power felt only like a whisper gradually grow into a rumbling growl. You could hear the spirits that surrounded her being pulled toward inside the circle.
Wrath
Grief
Betrayal
Woe
Pain- so much pain
But they would all be at peace in the end.
Before long, twilight passed and dusk had come and the stars glittered in the endless expanse of the darkness. But all had paled in comparison to the illustrious light of the moon. Every month during the full moon, you and your husband would spend the nights locked in each other’s embrace, frozen in their admiration of its ivory glow and taking in their heightened emotional energies.
You wondered it was natural to feel so much pleasure from the power that came from being bathed in the blood red rays that came from the rare eclipse. Cerberus watched in silent obedience, not daring to move in fear of disrupting his mother’s spell, and thus ruining all of her work.
As the moon’s shadow hit the circle, the outermost boundary began to glow. As the celestial body inched across the sky, the faint howls echoed until it ascended into a deafening roar. When the moon reached it apex – directly in the center of the circle – the symbols engraved to her skin glowed while the ground beneath her feet rumbled and sang as her body collapsed from the overwhelming pressure. You could faintly hear your beloved hound’s frantic barking in the distance, trying to scare away all and any threat that came to his mother and savior. But soon they lessened into panicked whimpers at the sight of the millions of forms that were appearing before his very eyes.
In a village far away, a certain brunette’s enchanted bracelet’s beads with identical scores began to hum and glow against the lily-petal pallor on his wrist.
Before the power could tear you apart, the moon passed the circle’s boundaries, and it borders and symbols no longer sang and glowed. And when you lifted yourself with as much strength she had, you couldn’t stop the smile that took over her your as tears streamed from your eyes from the overwhelming joy that flooded your heart.
“I’m sorry for the pain you’ve had to endure for so long, but I’m happy to tell you that it will not be for much longer.”
Tumblr media
While normally Druig wouldn’t need to be so intensely involved in matters of the village, it allowed his mind distracted him from missing his wife enough to just through the day. In any case, the earthquake from last night frightened the residents of the compound with how close they were to winter. The days were getting shorter, and this meant that they needed to prepare for the harshness that would come for their crops, their families, and eventually their way of life. Multiple people came up to Druig to ask if last night’s earthquake was a sign of larger disaster brought by the gods. While he did his best to placate their concerns, the patience he had was wearing thin. Luckily Sephia managed to intercept their line of questioning before he would lose his temper, and he was able to take a short rest.
It wasn’t until he heard a familiar barking in the distance that immediately caught his attention. Dashing out the hut he shared with you, he saw Cerberus sitting on his hind legs as his little tail wagged in glee and the little taps echoed in his ears.
“Cerberus,” he exclaimed in joy as he gathered the black Doberman in his arms, “where have you been? Where’s your mum?”
At the mention of his Mum, Cerberus immediately began tugging on his Da’s dark blue robe. While it wasn’t enough to cause any tear or inspire any panic, it did tell the man enough information to know that something or someone was coming- and it would be best that Druig gave his entire attention over it. Following his wife’s hound over to commune’s outermost edge, he was only met with the familiar chirps and song of the forest. A few minutes passed by and Cerberus remained still, as if he were just waiting for something great.
Suddenly, the fine hairs across Druig’s body stood up straight as an overwhelming presence of otherworldly beings began to approach close to where he and Cerberus stood. Sensing that they were no longer alone, the hound starting howling to the moon that hung above them. Running toward the strange energy, Druig watched in awed rapture at the figure that stood front center with familiar designs that glowed gold down their arms, leading the army of apparitions with a singular torch. Recognizing the haunting designs, Druig was engulfed in frozen wonder at the army that you managed to summon, and the control and strain your body had to endure to stage such a feat.
When the two ancient lovers reached one another, with only pockets of space between their bodies, Druig launched himself to embrace his angel. Gladly reciprocating the act, you made sure that the torch you were holding remained in the air as you let yourself be enveloped in the security of your husband’s arms while taking in the sweet smell of his sweat.
“I should have known that little rumble was from you,” he whispered while laying small and frequent kisses across her neck, “nothin’ you do can ever be done halfway, can it?”
“Never,” she whispered back, “are you ready for my surprise?”
You stepped aside so that her husband could truly understood what you had done. Although Druig was initially upset by the loss of warmth that came from you leaving his embrace, he stopped and stared at the sight ahead of him.
Hundreds of thousands of specters that held a pearly blue glow that went as far out as his eyes could take him. But instead of fear, Druig felt…warm, and strangely…at peace. Taking a step closer, he slowly reached out his hand as a way to ask for permission. The nearest spirit was that of a child, going no higher than his knee, eagerly taking his hand before a wide smile overtook his face.
“Hello Mister Druig, it has been so long.”
Eyes wide in shock, Druig turned his head to stare at his wife in disbelief.
It couldn’t be…it shouldn’t be possible. Then again, you always took the label “impossible” as just a simple label.
As Druig turned back to stare at vision before him, familiar faces that he thought were forever gone flooded his sight.
Before him were all the souls that were lost so young at the fall of Tenochtitlan over 10 years ago.
You did this…you brought them all back. As his body failed to support him in shock, all Druig could do was openly weep in joy at the knowledge that his love- his wonderful, incredible, truly magnificent marvel of a woman- risked everything so that these people could have just the slightest chance of closure and peace.
Taking your husband’s frame in your arms, you softly turned him until he could face you.
“Do you think there might be some space in our home for our guests, my dearest?” You asked with bright eyes and youthful mirth as you knew full-well his answer.
Druig could only let out a wet laugh – his tears hadn’t stopped, but he never felt so at peace and happy for so long.
“Kaet my darling,” he started, “nothing would give me more pleasure.”

500 Years Later
‘The Procession of the Dead had been a tale that has been passed down by the many indigenous tribes located in the Amazonian Rainforest for over twenty generations. They say that the first procession began as an act of mercy from Mictecacihuatl, who was known as the “lady of the dead.” Legends state that it was Mictecacihuatl who summoned the spirits of tormented souls, and led them on a journey across the Amazon rainforest so that the souls may find fulfillment and peace in order to move on to the afterlife. The earliest record of the procession stated that the procession began with a ritual of a cursed city, followed by a powerful earthquake. But it was granted by the Guardians of the Forest, as the trees and rocks cleared the path in order to make the journey easier for the merciful goddess. Although there have been multiple cases of alleged sightings of the legend even now, many of the tribes that still reside in the forest celebrate October 31st as the day where the dead would find peace in the physical world, before finally finding peace in their next life. It is for that reason that multiple towns in countries of South America will build a straw monument of Mictecacihuatl holding a burning torch, so that the spirits of the lost was make the journey for peace.’
A small boy with large aquamarine eyes and patiently sat in front of a large easel in his art room, gleefully listening to his favorite educational podcast. He loved to listen to the origins of how his birthday started out, even if he wasn’t there when it started.
“Hamish,” he heard his Da call out, “you wanna get ready so that we can make it to your Tio Phastos’ house in Chicago to meet with everyone! It’s rude for the birthday boy to arrive last!”
Making the finishing touches to the canvas, Hamish silently grabbed his Mimikyu costume from his bedpost before racing down the stairs. He couldn’t wait to show his Mami his painting when they got back tomorrow, she was going to love it!

Can you do an Ikaris x Male reader who is known as the Sapphire Wizard and the brother of Wanda (she’s technically dead here because of the end of MOM so ikaris is all he has) and in an attempt to weaken him Ikaris is hypnotized to fall in love with anther man but in the end he breaks the spell with true loves kiss (I know it’s probably overused but it’s one of my faves! Also if possible could you include the part where ikaris is hypnotized. Like the entire trance part and during the story he is brought in and out of trance until MR saved him at the end?) if it’s too much that’s ok!
It was no secret to who Y/N's sister was–had been. Wanda was the mythical Scarlet witch and was prophesied to rule the cosmos. But she didn't want to rule, no, she only wanted her children back and she did anything she could to be with them. Even steal them from another mother's arms. In the end, she made the ultimate sacrifice. She sacrificed herself to destroy the Darkholds in every other universe, so no one else would be tempted by its power. She died as Mount Wundagore came crashing down on top of her.
While her sacrifice was noble, it was not without consequences. Her brother, the Sapphire Wizard, was all alone in the world now. The last of his family and the Avengers he came to trust were gone forever. In their place were complete strangers that Y/N had no desire to get to know, so he turned to the only person he had left in his life that he could trust. A powerful being by the name of Ikaris. He was an Eternal created by the ones who created this universe and everything in it as it was Ikaris' mission to protect it from Deviants, but now, his mission was Y/N.
For a while, things were going well between them. Y/N had come to rely on Ikaris and sought his comfort and reassurance, but all came crashing down when fellow Eternal, Druig came to pay Ikaris a visit.
It happened on a quiet night. Y/N was asleep in his bed and Ikaris was watching something on Netflix, when he felt Druig's mind calling out to his own. "Come out and play, Ikaris. Come and get me." Druig's phantom voice echoed inside his head. Ikaris had taken that as a challenge as he flew out of the apartment window and followed the source of where Druig could be broadcasting from. "With pleasure, dear Druig." He responded back.
Ikaris hasn't seen any of the others since the emergence was stopped. Since Ikaris betrayed them and tried to stop them from stopping Tiamut's birth and the destruction of this planet. He feels they all secretly hated him, Druig and Phastos especially. He found the other male in a dark alleyway as he landed behind him as he strolled towards him. "I was wondering when one of you was going to come and get me. Guess I shouldn't be surprised it's you." Ikaris said.
Druig smirked and turned towards him. "You had this coming, Ikaris. Arishem's golden boy is finally getting what he so rightfully deserves. Consequences for his actions."
Ikaris tried to keep his voice calm, and his lasers chilled as he looked at him. "I think I've already paid for it. Sersi hates me."
"Yeah, you're gonna pay for it. And it's going to be all your fault." Druig sneers.
"Don't think you can threaten me, Druig. You and I both know what I'm capable of." Ikaris warned.
"And you remember what I'm capable of, and thanks to my few seconds in the Uni-Mind before you intervened, I learned that I can do this." His eyes flashed gold and so did Ikaris', but Druig was faster as he latched onto Ikaris' mind and buried his subconscious underneath a mountain of mental bricks as the fight in Ikaris' mind was quieted and Druig had control of him. He smiled. "This is going to be fun."
Druig knew that after Ikaris flew into the metaphorical sun after what he did, the Eternal escaped to New York City and he sought comfort and companionship in Y/N Maximoff. It was cute watching the two of them get closer together, but this was how Druig was going to punish Ikaris. He was going to make it so the only person in Ikaris' life hated him as much as the Eternals did, and he was going to be all alone for the rest of eternity. How delicious.
He forced Ikaris to go to a bar and find anyone that he could to bring home to his and Y/N's apartment. He settled on a cute guy as Druig pulled his strings like a puppet and had the Scottish sounding Eternal bring him home and fuck him so Y/N could hear it all happening. The young man walked into Ikaris' room to see him dick deep inside another guy. Timing it just right, Druig released Ikaris from his control right as he came inside the other male's ass as he looked around in bewilderment. How did he get here, and why was he fucking this guy? Then he remembered what Druig had done to him and immediately knew this was his dirty work.
Before he could do anything else, Ikaris realized that Y/N was in the doorway, tears streaming down his face as he looked absolutely crushed. Ikaris felt a wave of guilt as Y/N ran out of the doorway and into his bedroom as Ikaris gave chase. "Y/N, wait! It's not what it looks like. I can expl–" he trailed off as Druig once again took over his mind.
This happened for weeks. Ikaris would fuck this guy in front of Y/N and when he tried to explain why he was doing this, Druig would pull the metaphorical rug from underneath him and let Ikaris take the fall.
Y/N started to believe he deserved this. He was paying for Wanda's sins against the lives she destroyed and Ikaris was paying for his betrayal. They were both in hell and they couldn't do anything about it, until Y/N had enough. He had to know where they stood, because he wasn't going to take this anymore.
"Ikaris, I don't know if you're trying to punish me for something you think I did, but I don't think I can stand to see you parading your new boyfriend around in my face. So, I just wanted to let you know that I'm moving and I won't bother you anymore." Y/N said.
Ikaris didn't say anything as he stood there motionless as his subconscious was fighting and crying underneath his bricked prison as he heard everything that Y/N was saying to him. He remembers everything he did, even if he didn't do it by choice. Every kiss. Every touch that wasn't Y/N's was permanently inside his brain, and Druig knew it.
"I've been in love with you since we first met, but I guess I was fooling myself. So, I'm going to go and let you live your life. I wish you the best." He walk towards Ikaris and placed his hands on his face, bringing him close as he kissed him goodbye.
If only he realized that this kiss was one of true love as Druig's mental prison started to break around Ikaris' trapped subconscious and he fought to the surface of his mind as he gained control for the first time in weeks as he kissed him back, tears rolling down his face as he pulled. "I love you too, Y/N. I always have and I'm sorry if I hurt you, but it wasn't my fault. Druig was controlling me as punishment for what I did, but you saved me."
Y/N looks at him in shock. "You were being controlled?"
"I was. And I'm sorry for anything I did. I meant what I said. I love you, and your love set me free."
Y/N hugged him tight as Ikaris sighed happily. Druig may have won the battle, but Ikaris just won the war.

Beautiful, Beautiful Lightning Bug (Druig x Reader)
It was raining again. Yes, it was your fault. The looks you were getting from Sersi and Sprite all too familiar, but as much as you tried to cut it out you couldn’t, you were just in one of those moods. It used to be rainbows and sunshine, but as England was known to be a gloomy rainy place anyway, you could pout and get away with it without causing too much worldly upset.
Your boot kicked at the cobbled path as you waited outside the pub for Sersi and Dane to finish saying their goodbyes. Some guy had pissed you off inside, making advances then getting angry when he heard the word ‘no.’ You left before you did anything that would bring attention. If anyone was to blame for the dreary weather, then it was the dickhead that had one too many Jack Daniels and coke.
The rain seemed to dissipate as you started the walk home along the canal. Dane looking at you from time to time, he knew something was up, it didn’t help that Sprite had been feeding him stories about the eternals even though your existence wasn’t common knowledge, you tended to leave things down to the avengers.
You knew the jig was up as soon as the Deviant rose from the chilly water. Your body tingled and your hair rose with a static wind as your fingers started to crackle, your eyes no doubt were white with the reflection of lightning. You struck first, Sersi and Sprite making sure Dane wasn’t in the firing line. Volts of electricity erupted from your fingertips and struck true, the Deviant snarling as you charred one of its legs. You turned your head to make sure the others were safe, which was a mistake as the Devinant took a swipe at you, its claws catching your stomach making your cry out. Sersi was quick to stop it in its tracks while you tried to recover and you watched as she vaulted the wall, leading it away from you, Dane and Sprite.
The night ended with Ikaris making a grand entrance and saving the day as always. You were used to it, always in your older brother’s shadow. You were happy to see him, even if he had disappeared for years without letting anyone know where he was. Years in your lifetime didn’t seem like much in the grand scheme of things. He told you off, like always, for allowing yourself to get hurt for the sake of a human. You were sure he was just salty because the human in question was Sersi’s new boyfriend.
He was kind of right though, telling you off for getting hurt, the Deviants scratch was worse than you first anticipated, and it hurt, it didn’t hurt like this in the past. Luckily you were fast healing, and you were on your way to seek Ajaks. She was a healer, your leader and she would know what to do, she always did.
You’d arrived at the ranch a couple of days after the attack; however, it was too late. The Deviants had made it first and the sky crackled a brilliant purple as you let out your pained cries. You’d held Ajax’ lifeless body in your arms as rain poured from the heavens soaking you to the core. She was basically your mother; she was to so many of you. You had always looked to her for guidance and knew you could always confide in her, now she was gone.
That brought you to now. Hesitating in the background floating on a dark cloud that you had conjured. After re-grouping with Kingo, Thena and Gilgamesh you’d made the next stop that had your stomach doing summersaults.
You winced as the scars across your abdomen flickered with pain. Thunder shook the rainforest and birds sprung from their trees, wings flapping hard against the unnatural wind that had disturbed their peace. Thena peered at you through the trees with a knowing look. You were nervous. You hadn’t seen him in a few decades after some stupid fall out.
The others entered the little church like building while the villagers stood around and watched, their voices becoming eerie and controlled. You heard arguing and could hear his voice amidst the chaos. His Irish accent making heat pool in the bottom of your belly.
Your cloud floated to the ground, and you stepped off, your heavy black boots making squelching noises in soggy leaves. With a deep breath you pushed on the heavy wooden doors. All eyes turned to you, but the only ones you caught were a brilliant gold. His face softened as soon as his eyes met yours and in three long strides you found yourself being wrapped in his arms.
Your eyes watered instantly; you were home. In Druigs arms, you were home. You breathe deeply, his warm earthy scent invading your senses. Your hand reached up to play with the hair at the base of his neck which you knew he loved. He shivered and held you tighter, pressing his lips to your forehead.
“My Beautiful, beautiful lightning bug, was that you making all tha’ noise outside?”
You lifted your head from under his chin to peer up at him with a blush, your cheeks reddening when Kingo made a gasp in the background. Your turned to see his assistant/cameraman Karun pointing the lens at the two of you. It was no secret to the girls that you and Druig have been a thing since, well, forever. Either the men decided to block it out or they really were that oblivious. For Arishems sake… you were even married.
“Kingo ge’ your mans camera out my girls face unless you want to be struck by lightning.”

A dark!Druig Fanfic | Druig x reader | Scream crossover
Summary: The origins of a mysterious masked killer... who just so happens to be a god.
Note: Prologue + Chap 1 are here :))) I hope you guys enjoy this story!
Warnings: mentions of blood, light gore, death, murder... lol

The metallic smell of blood clung to his senses, as Druig  lifted his blade high above his head, prepared to land yet another strike to the unsuspecting victim that laid below him. It was his first kill, the rage of human fragility consuming him, driving him to take matters into his own hands. Why were humans so hungry with greed, so lustful for it that they slaughtered millions to make their point known?
Blood had already filled the streets below, flowing like a tiny creek above the pavements that weaved between now crumbling buildings. His victim would be seen as just another casualty to the war, a guard who fell to the hoards of civilians now storming the castle. They had been neglected for months, famished and homeless, littering the streets like discarded trash. Finally, they had enough, rising up against the castle and its inhabitants.
But the guard below Druig  was far from innocent. The list of sins he had to atone for could wrap around the city twice. Druig was merely just doing a god’s work, sending the bastard to his hell a little earlier than expected.
Druig pulled his blade out of the limp body once more, wiping the red stains on the guard's cloth that hung from his waist. Druig slid the blade back into his own boot, the cool metal a sweet relief against his hot skin. The fire ablaze through the castle halls, set by the angry citizens,  had significantly raised the temperature, a sickening heat radiating off what walls were still left standing.
As Druig straightened, a twinkle in the doorway caught his attention. A child stood in the crumbling frame,  his mouth hung open at the sight before him. The child was half in the shadows, his features unrecognizable. Druigs’ senses told him exactly who the kid was - the deceased guard's son. Druig had to act quick, before the child found the will to scream over the ghastly sight.
He closed his eyes  as he summoned his powers from deep in his mind. When he opened them, his eyes then turned a bright golden that reflected the fire in the torches along the wall, as he locked eyes with the child in front of him. He now had total control over the kids emotions and actions.
“It’s okay, you’re safe. Go, find your mother.” Druig said, as he calmed the boys’ now shot nerves.
The child nodded, turning slowly and taking off, jumping over fallen bricks and wreckage. Druig sighed, looking down once more at the guard at his feet.
“Should have played it safe, Alexander, so your son could have a father in his life. That is very important, you know,” Druig scolded the dead man.
Alexander had a reputation in the Byzantine town for his behavior. There were many nights after his shift that Alexander became belligerent, drunk off the spirits offered by the local distilleries, before taking advantage of any unlucky woman who happened to cross his drunken path. His  list of victims was countless, many left dead in the street for their loved ones to find. The grotesque crimes he committed  were covered up by the King, offering a bullshit lie as an explanation for Alexander’s behavior.
Druig wasn’t the only one who wanted Alexander dead. He was just the first one to get to him, shoving him into the room where he laid now, his blood permanently marking his deathbed.
Alexander’s son stumbled through the hallways back to his mothers room that was tucked away deep in the castle, unharmed from the civilians storming through. He was panting, trying to catch his breath as he threw open the door. His mother sat on the bed, a knife in hand as she waited for the civilians to finally reach her champers. At the sight of her son, she dropped the knife, running to him.
“Agapi mou!” She cradled the boy in her arms, holding him close to her chest.
“Mommy,” he said, his greek accent thick. “It’s páppa!”
“What do you mean?”
“He… he…” the boy didn’t have to finish his sentence. The fear and grief in his voice said everything she needed to hear. So she cradled him tighter, running her fingers through his short black hair- much like his fathers.
As the tears fell from her eyes, landing on the top of her son's head, she heard a scream echo through the castle. She knew the mob had finally found them, tearing through the halls just outside her door. She hung onto her son tighter, praying to the gods for a savior, to spare her from the sins of the castle.
Such fate did not come… for the gods she prayed to sat silently outside, held under Druigs’ control.

Present Day
Rain illuminated the soft lights of the street lamps above you as you made your way back to your apartment. The humid air was hot and heavy, making you thankful you chose to wear shorts to work tonight, instead of your normal jeans.
It was 12 a.m., not an ideal time to be out walking alone, but you didn’t have much of a choice. Living in the city was expensive enough, adding a car note on top of that was unimaginable on a waiter's salary. You made enough to get by and afford a nice, spacious apartment, and practically everything you needed was in walking distance… so it truly wasn’t that bad. You knew the route like the back of your hand, and never once felt uncomfortable…
… that is, until a loud thud echoed down the alley way you just passed. It was loud enough to catch your attention, making you stop dead in your tracks. A muffled grunt followed, and you almost continued on, assuming it was just someone finding their place to sleep for the night. But yet another muffled sound caught your attention.
“Help…” it was said in a quiet, hushed tone, just barely audible over the sprinkle of rain hitting the pavement. You pulled your phone out, turning the flashlight on as bright as it would go.
This was dumb and you knew it, but you also knew you couldn’t live with yourself if you didn’t try and help whoever called out. Inhaling a shaking breath, you began to slowly disappear into the darkness of the alley, getting your phone ready to call the emergency line just in case.
A metallic smell filled the air the further you walked, making you slightly nauseous. A buzzing filled your veins as you breathed in, which only made you more nervous. You had heard of various instances around the city of people feeling this buzz, smelling the metallic air, before coming into contact with god magic.
God magic was a deadly substance to humans who  lingered in the presence of the god on earth. Inhale too much of it and your lungs begin to collapse, as they fight for pure earthly oxygen. The presence of god magic lingering, meant a god had just been here… and that wasn’t a good sign.
Quickly, you pulled your hand up to cover your nose, hoping it would be enough to block out the air. As you did so, a gleam on the pavement caught your eye, as the light from your phone bounced off of it.
A puddle of red sat ahead of you, pooling thickly out from behind the lone dumpster sat in the middle of the alley. Your breath hitched in your throat as your mind raced with every worse case scenario that could be laid out before you.
Worst case, it was human blood, belonging to the innocent victim of the god at hand- and boy, were the gods ruthless with their victims. Best case, it was just an animal sacrifice… something a lot easier to stomach.
You prayed silently for the latter as you crept closer. The buzzing only intensified the closer you got to the source of the blood, causing a slight pounding in your head.
“Oh… oh my god,” you whispered as you finally rounded the edge of the dumpster. To your dismay, it was not an animal at all, but the blonde you had just served at the restaurant not too long ago. She was out with friends, celebrating her 21st birthday. Her once white dress was now shredded, dyed  with the dark red of her blood that now inked the pavement below. The shredded marks of her dress matched the shredded skin of her stomach, as if she had been gutted.
You couldn’t stop the vomit now raising through your body. Turning around you emptied the contents of your stomach onto the wet pavement. You had never seen such a gruesome sight in person- it was nothing like the movies.
Tears fell from your eyes as you quickly hit the call button on your phone. An operator answered instantly, asking for your location.
“H-hi… I’m at the alley between 5th and Steel Avenue… I just, oh god I don’t even know if I can put it into words… I just discovered a dead body…” You answered the ladies' questions as best as you could between the sobs escaping your throat.
“Is there anyone else with you?” The operator asked, as she began to get an ambulance and the police on route to your location.
“Uh… no,” you said, confidently, as you looked around to see an empty alley. One end opened to the sidewalk and the street you were just on, the occasional car passing by on the street. The other end led to a brick wall, graffitied with local street art.
“Are you sure?” The operator asked again, this time with an edge to her voice that wasn’t there before. The hairs on the back of your neck stood at her tone, making you look around once more.
“Um…,” you whispered, suddenly hyper aware of every sound and moving shadow. A rock skidded across the pavement at the dead end, causing you to turn your attention to the graffitied brick wall.
An outline of a dark shadow stood at the end, a flash of white around their face bounced off the flashlight still on your phone. You stood still, absolutely petrified of whatever being stood just as still as you.
The buzzing appeared back in your veins and the smell of rusted iron returned. You were stunned as a flash of gold briefly flickered through the air. An overwhelming flood of emotions roared through you, rendering you unable to move, as if your feet were stuck in quicksand. Tears welled in your eyes, but didn’t fall, as if something held them there. Flashes of your life played in your mind, as you accepted your fate that you were next.
But just as suddenly as it happened, the feeling was gone, replaced by the blaring lights and sirens that now filled the alley. The lights made their way to the brick wall, where absolutely nothing appeared.
A cry escaped your throat as you dropped to your knees.
One thing was certain…
… you were just in the presence of a god.
**
A few hours later you were slugging your way up the stairs to your apartment, the events of the evening weighing on you heavily. You had run out of tears a while ago, as you sat in the detective's office going over and over and over what had happened in varying degrees of detail.
“You’re sure you heard nothing? Saw nothing? That has to be impossible… No one you passed looked suspicious?” The detective's voice echoed in your mind as you unlocked the apartment door.
A soft purr brought you out of your thoughts, as your cat sat patiently  by the front door, mewing softly. She hadn’t had food in hours, as you were later than usual getting home.
“Oh Mr. Jinx, I’m sorry,” you whispered, stooping down to pet him. He leaned into your palm, rubbing his tiny head against it. “Come on, let’s get you some food.”
“Where have you been?!” A shrill voice made you jump back into the door, scaring mr. Jinx down the hall.
“God, Celia… don’t yell so loud,” you mumbled, gripping your temples.
“Y/N… there was a murder near your restaurant! I haven’t heard from you at all since your shift ended… you can’t be mad at me for being worried. What? You look like you’ve seen a ghost…” Celia trailed off as she poured herself a glass of wine.
“I saw it…,” you whispered, settling at the breakfast bar in the half kitchen. Celia’s wine stopped mid-pour as her eyes locked with yours.
“What…?” She whispered back, still trying to process what you just said. You nodded your head, unable to make direct contact with her for long. Your tears had tried long ago, making this a lot easier to talk about now, then hours ago sitting in that tiny gray room.
“Shit, you need this more than I do,” Celia responded, topping off her glass before sliding it to you. It only took you three seconds to down it, earning a low whistle from Celia. You were not a wine drinker, but tonight was different.
“There's more…,” you trailed off. If there was anyone you were going to mention the god thing to, it was Celia. Definitely not the detectives, and not the media who had swarmed the crime scene within minutes of detectives arriving.
“What?” Celia pressed, itching for you to spill what you knew.
“I know this is going to sound crazy but… I think I have an idea who did it.”
Celia looked at you quizzically.
“When I was approaching her body, I felt this… buzzing,” Celia’s sharp breath interrupted you, as she gasped. The fact that she already knew where you were going with this, meant your gut was right for telling her.
“It went away once I found her… but then it came back and I saw something. I’m not sure exactly what I saw… but it had a white face-”
“Oh my god!” Celia interrupted, taking off to her room. Celia often studied the mythology of the old world in her free time. She had a library full of books in her closet dedicated to this study. It was something unique about Celia that you enjoyed… Everyone else was perfectly content leaving the mythology behind after The Fall in the early days, when the gods departed, letting humanity crumble and rebuild into what it is today. In fact, many don’t even believe the gods ever existed, the only evidence of them being in the stories passed down, or an occasional destroyed relic found here and there across the globe.
Celia came back out supporting a thick book in her arms. It looked old and heavy, with a permanent layer of dust settled on top of it.
“Would you be able to recognize what you saw if you saw it again?” Celia asked, letting the book slam with a thud on the kitchen counter next to you. As expected, a cloud of dust filled the air.
“I think so, but I didn’t get a good look. There was a small flash of gold before it felt like I came too again,” you explained, coughing as the dust cloud settled in the air. Celia nodded, flipping through the pages.
“Okay, did it look like any of these?” She asked, settling on a page that was in another language. A drawing was nestled at the bottom, depicting a group of 10 individuals. None of them looked familiar, and you couldn’t read the text next to each person to try and figure it out.
“No… it was just a shadow, with this glimmering white face. I could smell the magic radiating off of it.”
“Did you hear anything?” Celia asked, as she began flipping through the book again.
“No… I couldn’t even hear my own thoughts… everything just went silent, and then I got this rush of emotions, that was when its eyes flashed gold and I was back in reality.”
Celia stopped mid page flip, turning slowly to look at you. Her eyes looked distant, like she wasn't actually looking at you, but trying to hold on to her train of thought. You waited patiently for her to figure out the pieces.
After a few seconds, she started furiously flipping through the pages, heading back to the 10 figures from before.
“Okay, so these are the eternals, they were a group of gods who once lived here, protecting the civilians of the old world… until something happened and they split, causing this one, right here, to go rogue. He held the other eternals under his capture… You see, he has the ability to control others with his mind. He can influence someone's emotions, actions, etc., but just getting into your head. Well when he went rogue, the lore goes he began this maddening killing spree- that the weight of humanity had crushed him, creating this monster-” Celia paused to flip a few pages forward. “Here… the masked being you see here…that was him. He donned a mask made from the skin of his first victim- Alexander the Great-, and then went on this spree of murdering all the corrupt and evil people in the empire at the time. There isn’t much to what happened to him and the other gods after this spree…, it just kind of ends there, which is why many of us think he actually still resides here on earth, especially with the rise of common people feeling this god magic you felt tonight. Maybe he found a new mask, to be unrecognizable? I’m sure some dead guys’ flesh from the old world wouldn’t hold up all that well…” Celia ended with a chuckle.
“Anyways, his name is Druig, and he usually is associated with gold too- all of the eternals are. It's unique to them, compared to the other gods of the old world. A cosmic sort of magic that isn’t of this world. But the flood of emotions, and you feeling like you’re in another reality during it… that makes me really think it's him.”
You sat, digesting all the information Celia just gave you, overlooking the paper she was reading from. There was another drawing, this one more detailed. It depicted the god, standing before a dead body, a knife in hand.
“Wait… does it say how the victims of his spree were killed?” You asked, holding your breath as you waited for Celia to translate the old Greek text.
“Yes… a sheath- so, like a knife… wait- what's that look for…” Celia trailed off as she noticed your face drain of color.
“The girl tonight… I mean I don’t know for sure, but it looked as if her… body had been slashed.” You choked out the words, as the images of her torn dress and skin came back in your mind.
“Woah… Okay, so this could definitely be him then,” Celia muttered.
You sat, staring at the masked drawing in the book. This didn’t make sense… he was still in the alley when you were there, yet he let you live.
“Does it say anything else about him that might be helpful to know?” You asked. Celia read through the pages, her finger tracking as she translated the text.
“Just that anyone who comes into contact with him doesn’t have long to live…,” Celia trailed off, as she connected the dots of what she just read to your current reality.
“Oh shit…,” she closed the book, turning her full attention to you.
“Yeah… oh shit.”

summary: druig was getting bored of babylon, he was ready to take on more adventures. but the shadows in his mind led him down a path, one he never dared to speak out loud (except for maybe to kingo)
an: another thank you to @stuckonjbbarnes, i wouldn't know what to do without you 🩵
masterlist | part one
1523 AD
It had been almost 200 years since Druig had seen you. Not even a glimpse. He had started to wonder if something had happened to you, if he had somehow fucked up with you too.
Not that he considered what happened at Tenochtitlan a fuck up, but after being alone for two years he started to feel some of the ramifications of his actions.
Alone wasn’t the right word, Druig had been surrounded by the hundreds of people he saved from themselves. Isolated, that’s what he was. He wasn’t quite sure how to handle the situation he created. He stepped in more than he ever had with the humans, but he felt it was best to live in the shadows for a while.
Two years without the Eternals was one thing, the break was truly needed. But two years without you? It certainly wasn’t ideal, not anymore. There were so many things he wanted to know, getting to know more about you was what he was looking forward to the most. Druig had done his best not to create his own narrative about you, which was extremely difficult when he’s only had two conversations with you in the last 2,000 years.
Instead, though, he started to wonder what all he didn’t know. What was being kept from him. Not confronting Ajak took more self control than he knew he had, unfortunately he couldn’t control his irritability. Once all the Deviants were gone he didn’t have it in him to care about anyone else’s grand plan, and he was done listening to someone who wasn’t being honest with him or anyone else.
“Are you going to be in everyone’s head this whole time or should I come back another time?” You stood behind him, a flower crown in hand.
Druig was so out of it he never even noticed you were there.
He turned around and smiled for the first time in what felt like centuries. “Is that for me?”
“I don’t just go around making these for everyone.” Just like the last one, it fit him perfectly. “Did you miss me?”
He grabbed your hands and brought them to his face, needing a way to know you were real. “It felt like I lost my shadow.”
You smirked at him, “A bit dramatic, don’t you think?”
“No.” That’s exactly what it felt like. You were always there, following him everywhere he went. A part of him, but not really. Always slipping through his fingers.. “Dramatic would be blowing in like the wind and disappearing just as easily.”
He let go of you but kept you close, debating to himself if he should enjoy the moment or jump straight to the questions he’s kept to himself all these years.
“So I was thinking, I know you must have about a million questions,” could you read his mind too?, “what’s stopping you from picking my brain yourself?”
He had thought about that a lot after you left the last time and he always came to the same conclusion, “I don’t know you as well as I wish I did, but you’re special to me. I’m not sure I could ever use my powers on you.”
You flashed him a devilish grin, “What if I asked nicely?”
He rolled his eyes, accepting then and there that you were going to be a handful. “Alright, next question. I’m assuming you’re also an Eternal?”
“Yes.”
“What’s your special power? Show me.” He hoped to start out with something fun, not too serious. There was plenty of time to get into that.
You gave him a quick smile before disappearing and reappearing behind him. He turned to face you and you were gone again, sinking into the darkness, making a game out of it.
Druig watched you emerge from several different places before finally realizing how you were doing so. “So I was spot on when calling you a shadow? And you called me dramatic.”
You rolled your eyes as you walked back to him. “Yes, well, I couldn’t just admit you were right so easily could I? That wouldn’t have been fun.”
If he had to narrow down the second he knew he was a goner, it would have been right then. He had no business falling for someone who easily could have been a figment of his imagination. What if it was really Mahd Wy’ry? No, Druig refused to even entertain that idea. He could smell you, touch you, taste you. Theoretically that is. There was no way you weren’t real.
He pulled you closer to him again, intertwining his fingers with yours, and began to walk to the river.  “Not to ruin the mood, but did you find anything out? About why we were separated?”
The look of frustration on your face gave him his answer before you even started to speak. Is that why you were back so soon? Because you hadn’t found anything? Was it just another thing Arishem decided because he could? “I can’t find out without drawing too much attention to myself. But in my search I found another Eternal who has his own agenda but is willing to help me find answers.”
“His?” Druig’s jaw tensed. He’d never been the jealous type, but the thought of someone spending all their time with you while held on to the mere moments he got was unsettling at best.
You couldn’t help but chuckle, “You’re welcome to join us, take on a new adventure.”
“Now’s not the right time.” The thought of leaving with you had crossed his mind a time or two since he last saw you, but he couldn’t just abandon his people now. It didn’t feel right, not yet. “But one day I’d love to travel the galaxy with you. Get lost in the cosmos together.”
Druig thought about that often too, anything that involved spending more time with you. Truth be told he was jealous that he couldn’t remember what his lives were like with you, just another thing Arishem took from him.
By the time the two of you had made it to the river the sun began to set and Druig only had one more question to ask before he moved onto the more personal ones. “How did you find me? It couldn’t have been easy.”
You sat down on a log and pulled Druig down to do the same, to relax and enjoy the sunset. “I have a million memories of us watching the sunset together, none of them are as beautiful as this one.” It wasn’t until the sun had disappeared below the horizon that you answered his question, no matter how cliche the answer was.
“I felt you. Once I left the planet I was assigned to I followed that feeling until I landed here. It took me some time to track you down in Babylon, but not much. I wish I would have told you everything then, it’s not like I have many more answers now than I had before.”
Druig didn’t quite know how to respond to that. On one hand he was upset the way you handled it. The way you came and went for centuries without saying anything, he thought he made everything up at one point. He might not have had answers but at least he’d have you.
On the other hand, he knew you were only doing what you thought was best. It’s not like being separated from someone you were designed for, someone you didn’t know even existed until one random day was a situation that was easily prepared for.
At the end of the day, Druig was just thankful you found him at all. He never let himself wonder what it would be like if you didn’t.
“We have each other now, or at least until you have to leave. Which is..?” As much as he hated it, he knew it was coming.
You pouted and looked down at your feet, not having the heart to look him in the eyes. “I have until morning. We have a lead on where another group of Eternals is, apparently they haven’t heard anything from Arishem in over 5,000 years. Hopefully one of them knows something.”
Instead of dwelling on the few hours he had left with you, Druig brought you back to camp. He wanted to create as many memories he could with you since neither had any idea when you’d be back.
He introduced you to the few people that were still awake, they had a fire going and invited you to hear about how Druig saved them from themselves. While you listened, he went to grab dinner for the two of you.
What he saw when he returned had caught him off guard. Not really what he saw, but more of how it made him feel. The way the fire hit your features just right, the way your laugh filled the air, how easily you seemed to fit in.. it filled Druig with a happiness he never knew before until then.
“You’re absolutely breathtaking, you know that?” He asked after you excused yourself from the group, not giving you time to answer. “Come with me.”
The two of you spent the rest of the night telling each other all there was to know about each other. About how when you started getting your memories back your team was convinced it was Mahd Wy’ry and instead of wiping your memories, they took pity on you and let you leave the planet.
You told him about how you began to resent your powers at one point. Hiding in the shadows was all fun and games until you learned about the dark things the people on your planet did to each other and you could do nothing about it. In return, Druig told you that was also a struggle of his and played a big part in him leaving.
What he didn’t tell you was that it was your last visit that made him really start to doubt Arishem and gave him the strength to start doing what he thought was best for the people of this planet. Or at least a small portion of them.
By the time the sun started to rise Druig was really starting to talk himself into leaving with you, but he didn’t. He had to have some self control when it came to you or else he might accidentally lose himself.
“Hopefully the next time we see each other I’ll have more answers.” You stood in front of him and tried not to cry. So badly you wanted to stay but your search for answers, the time you lost, it had to mean something.
He titled your head to look you in the eyes, both of you lingering on each other's lips a little too long in the process. “As long as you come back to me.”
You started to disappear into the shadows, but Druig wasn’t ready. He had to do one more thing before you left.
“Yn! Wait!” He called out, hoping you’d reappear.
“I’m still here.” You whispered behind him. Desperately trying to keep your tears from rolling down your face.
Druig didn’t say a word, he didn’t have to. He turned around and opened his arms and you quickly jumped into them. Time felt like it slowed down. His hand gently rubbed the small of your back while you wrapped your arms around his neck, neither of you wanting to let go.
You pulled away enough to look at him in the eyes again, getting one last look before you had to go.
“Kiss me.” It was all he needed to say for you to close the gap between you two again, pressing your lips to his.
After what felt like centuries and no time at all, Druig no longer felt you in his arms. You were still in the forest, though, he still felt you there. He stayed in that spot until he knew you were gone, regretting not leaving with you when he had the chance.
2023
“It’s been weeks,” Makkari signed, “we haven’t heard from any of them. It’s like… they’ve disappeared.”
It had been almost just as long since the emergence, since Ikaris tried to kill him. It was selfish of him, he knew it was, but all he could think about was you and where you were. How long it would take to find each other again. His friends, his family, were missing and all he could think about was you.
“Arishem.” Thena said out loud what he had been thinking the whole time. “We have to go back.”
Just as Druig was about to agree with her, again for the most selfish of reasons, he began to feel a familiar pull. It was different from all the other times, it felt wrong. Whatever it was, Thena felt it too. She conjured her weapons and waited. He wanted to suggest she back down but it was Thena, that would never happen.
“I felt it too.” Makarri signed. Druig was less confident it was you then, none of the others have felt you before.
“What?” He didn’t have to act confused, he genuinely was.
Thena and Makkari walked closer to the flickers of light that appeared at the end of the corridor. Druig couldn’t move from where he was sitting, he couldn’t think. He felt the pull become stronger, his senses were blown.
Just then, a small troll was spat out from the light. Druig tried to focus as he mumbled something about drunk teleporting.
“Um..” Thena began, but was rudely interrupted.
“Hang on, hang on.” The troll cleared his throat and began to introduce whoever was stepping through next, “Behond, the royal Prince of Titan…”
“Enough Pip!” Another voice shouted, pushing the man and troll out of the way. “Eros’ ego is big enough and I promise you none of them care.”
Druig jumped from his seat, earning quick and confused looks from both Makkari and Thena.
“Hey, you.” You smirked at him, not knowing what else to say. Not in front of the others.
“You know these people, Druig?” Thena asked, weapons still in her hands.
He never took his eyes off of you, “I don’t know who the fuck the lads are, but this is Yn.” It came out a little more harsh than he meant it, or maybe he did. With everything else that was going on that was the icing on his world ending cake.
Thena and Makarri looked even more confused than they were before. They knew better than to push Druig for answers when he looked as serious as he did.
Eros and Pip stood behind you, they knew exactly who everyone was and what events had unfolded in the weeks prior. It turned out yours and Eros’ interests were more aligned than they had thought.
“So this is who you’ve been traveling with?” Druig thought to you, “A pretty boy and a drunken troll?” He tried his best not to come off jealous but he was doing a terrible job.
“You say that like there’s not two beautiful women behind you that you’ve been traveling with.”
He didn’t have to read your mind to know nothing had ever happened, but to finally see the man who had been helping you… using his powers to tell them to jump out of the Domo felt like the right thing to do.
“So you must be the famous Druig!” Eros went to shake his hand but was ignored. “Yn never shuts up about you.”
He hated to admit it, even to himself, that that statement had put him more at ease. “Talk about me a lot do you?”
“More than you have obviously.”
“Kingo knows. He even made a movie about it.”
That’s when Makkari got in the middle of you two, “Enough with the telepathy! Who are these people? How do you know her?”
Druig explained everything to them. Well, everything he knew. Makkari felt so sorry for you both, though she finally understood why he was the first to lose faith in Arishem.
Thena finally disarmed herself, if Druig said they weren’t threats then she trusted him. She looked to you a moment before asking, “So did you find anything out or were you just checking to see if Druig was alive?”
He watched you carefully, looking for any sign that you had found some answers. If you had then that would mean all of the time away from each other would have been worth it.
“Both actually.” You smiled, almost forgetting why you were even there. “We were on our way to Earth when Eros saw strange activities going on, not long after that I didn’t feel you anymore. I thought the worst. Looking more into it we realized the emergence had started-”
“You knew about the emergence and never said anything?” Druig interrupted.
“Your takeaways are the worst, you know that? I thought you died.” You shot back angrily. “Like I was trying to say.. I found out about it through my research and my memories. It’s why I believe Arishem separated us, we always found out just before they happened and tried stopping them. We came close to succeeding the last time, obviously Arishem didn’t like it then and definitely doesn’t appreciate it now if taking your friends is any indication. Congratulations by the way, I wish I could have been there.”
“You would be proud to know he almost put Tiamut to sleep,” signed Makkari, “until Ikaris tried to kill him.”
Druig winced at the memory, relieved that you weren’t there to see that. He could tell that you were proud of him but also slightly put off about the almost dying part. He stepped closer to you and pulled at your wrist, “I’m sure you two can handle these lads, there’s a few things Yn and I need to discuss in private.”
He pulled you out of the corridor and down a hallway, finally choosing a room that was far enough away from the others.
The last time he saw you was in 1523, you didn’t check in a single time. He wanted to look in your mind for himself to see what all you’ve been up to more than he ever had before, find any reason he could to validate how upset he was.
Druig wasn’t even sure he knew why he was upset. A mix between not seeing you for so long, his regret of not going with you, everything that had to do with the emergence, Eros’ existence. He just really didn’t like that guy.
“I’m so glad you’re alive.” All of those feelings were gone the moment your arms wrapped around him. “I’m sorry it took so long, we ran into a bit of trouble..”
“No, no. Don’t apologize,” he pressed his forehead to yours, “just tell me this is done. Promise me you’ll stay with me this time, no more leaving.”
You pulled back from him, giving yourself a clear view of his face. “You’re stuck with me for all eternity I’m afraid.”
He knew they were on a mission and his friends were quite possibly in more danger than they’ve ever been in before, but all he could think about was leaving it all behind. To find some corner of the universe where you and him could just exist together without another soul around. He deserved a chance to create his own memories with you, you deserved a chance to have your own set of memories from this lifetime. Arishem had taken enough, Druig didn’t want him taking any more.
No matter how badly he wanted to follow through with that plan, running away together, he couldn’t do that to his family. “After we find the others, I think we should find somewhere to call home. A place that doesn’t need protection, that isn’t incubating a Celestial. Just me and you.”
He didn’t know just how ready you were for that reality, how ready you were for it to be just you and him.
You parroted his words back to him, leading him back the way you came. “Just me and you.”

Part one Part Two
Druig studied the gold details caved into the walls of the plane. They looked a lot like the ones on the ship they came here on. The place that was their home for thousands of years. There was a black sectional in front of a theater screen that was playing a movie with no sound on. It was over the top compared to Kingos she had spared no expense. He didn’t know where to sit for the long flight. Y/N had made it clear to Druig that she was still mad at him and was doing this for the others.
Y/N currently sat on the couch in the corner by a window. A pile of papers was splayed out in front of her with no clear organization to them. She held on to a burner phone pressing it hard to her ear.  A picture of three men opening a crate was clutched in her hand. She let out a loud sigh tossing the photo to the side, and shuffled through papers looking for one file that she swore she grabbed on her way out.  She spoke in a hushed whisper trying to keep Druig out of her business. However, he could make out a few words.
“Take care of it Loretta… I know but you are… Call him… Don’t make me beg.”
When she hung up, she narrowed her eyes a raised her brow at him.
“You just going to stand there? or sit?” Y/N snapped the phone in half and handed it to the stewardess on the plane. And went back to looking through the files. She still had work to do if the world survived the emergence.
Druig however didn’t move, he didn’t even blink, he just stared at her. He was at a loss for words.
“Staring is rude Dru. I know Ajak taught you that.” She spoke softly looking up from the file. He finally sat down leaving four feet of space between them.  Druig stared at the movie playing trying to distract himself from the silence they were in. His gaze flickered over to Y/N occasionally wanting to interrupt her work but didn’t know what to say.
Y/N could feel his eye drilling into the side of her head. She read the same paragraph over and over again the words blurred together. His presence was distracting to her and feeling his eyes on her was not helping. She couldn’t do the work she wanted, and she needed to find a way to get rid of spiderman.
“Y/N?”
“No. I told you I would help. We are not friends. You stay there in your corner. I will continue to act like you are not here.” Druig sighed. He was once again at a loss of how to approach the situation.
Y/N became annoyed. All she could hear was him breathing and swore he was making up words for the movie. He was mumbling about something, but she wasn’t sure what. She pushed the papers into a somewhat neat pile. Then tossed them in to the bag she brought, and stared out the window as the dark sky.
“Do you hate me that much?” Druig spoke in a whisper. His accent made it hard for her to make out the words.
Y/N exhaled rolling her eyes. In truth no she did not hate him. She wanted to viscerally hate him, but she never could bring herself to even dislike him even after all this time. He was a light in her life that she lost and missed the warmth he brought her. That safe and secure feeling she had when he was near. It was just easier to wallow in pity and pretend that she hated him. Fake it till you make it was her motto for the last two thousand years.
“I- I don’t know. Not to sound like a broken record but you hurt me. I thought I meant more to you than the others. Because as much as you deny it you cared about them. But you left me when I begged you to take me.” She paused, taking a deep breath and licked her lips before continuing.
“Discarded me like human waste. Was I just temporary entertainment to you?”
He took the opportunity to scoot closer causing Y/N to stare at him instead of the dark sky. He stopped about a foot away testing the waters. He wanted to touch her. To comfort her and make her see she was his world.
“Sunshine. You must know you were the only one I genuinely cared about, besides Makkari.”
“Then why did you leave me?” Y/N cried out. And repeated the question quieter with glassy eyes. Tears threatening to spill out.
“I am so sorry sunshine. I didn’t want to leave you, but I was trying to be selfless for once. You loved every single one of them more than I could comprehend. I couldn’t pull you away from that, and you end up regretting it.”
She scoffed and looked back out the window staring into the black void of the night sky.
“They all left me too. I had sprite on and off during that time. But those two thousand years were hell. You took a part of me I don’t think I will ever get back.”
Druig reached out and gently grasped her hand rubbing his thumb over her wrist stopping at her pulse. He wanted to fix this. It was never his intention to hurt her.
“Was it really that bad?” She pulled her hand out of his hold and set it in her lap.
“I watched the man I loved walk away from me, and then the man I fell in love with was murdered in front of me. We got six glorious years that was it. A blink to us eternals.”
Druig flinched. Loved? As in past tense? he thought. Scared of the answer she may give him. She kept looking out the window refusing to acknowledge him. Y/N pulled her feet up on the chair hugging her knees to her body trying to make herself look small. She wanted this conversation to end. Every emotion she had pushed away for centuries was surfacing.
“Loved?” Druig couldn’t resist, he had to know. Y/N pinched her lips frowning.
“That’s what you care about? You don’t have to worry I got over my unrequited love a while ago.”
“Do you honestly believe that I didn’t love you? Please look at me Y/N” His voice was raw, and she hesitated to do what he asked. Eventually giving in to the side that still cared for him.
They stared at each other. His blue eyes keeping eye contact with her.  Feeling overwhelmed with the emotions he held in his eyes she turned her head slightly. He moved with her to keep eye contact.
“You must know you are the only one I care about. Y/N, I never wanted anything more in my life. You are beautiful and my sunshine. Every time I called you sunshine that was me saying ‘I love you’. I was scared that I had these feelings and you deserved better.”
Y/N let a tear escape. She didn’t know what to say to him. Druig gave her everything she wanted to hear from him.
“I will apologize for the rest of our existence. I will beg on my knees for you to let me back in.”
Y/N giggled through the tears that fell. A sight she would have liked to see. He cupped her face wiping the drops away giving her a soft smile. Her skin was cold to his warm hands.
“I don’t know what to say.” She whispered. For once she was at a loss for words.
In response he laughed, his breath fanning over her face. The minty smell was overwhelming. She scooted closer to him, their faces a centimeter apart. Her eyes bore into his. She took a deep breath to stop the tears. His familiar smell filled her senses again. Oh how she had missed this familiarity, the feeling of home.
“You still smell good, and it is infuriating.” She mumbled.
He laughed again, his accent coming out a bit more. This was the person he knew. The one he loved.
“So do you.”
Y/N shook her head his hands falling one landing on her thigh. She laid her head on his shoulder suddenly very tired. Druig rested his cheek on the top of her hair, savoring her touch and made a silent promise to never let her go again.
Soft snores came from her as she slept soundly. He took in her tranquil state and traced a finger over her features softly to avoid waking her up.
----
“Why are you wearing a leather jacket in the desert?” Y/N teased as they tracked through the hot sandy hills of Iraq.
“Because I like it.” Druig shrugged, sending her a small smile.
The outline of the rest of the eternals grew the closer they got. Y/N picked up speed practically running to them. Druigs hand shot out resting on her lower back ready to catch her if she fell. The closer they got the faster she sprinted. After being apart from most of them for centuries she was ecstatic to see her family again. Mainly Thena and Sprite (but she would never tell anyone that). Sprite had been her best friend through the toughest of times.
“Y/N” Sprite called out when she saw her figure approaching.
Sprite ran toward her. Once close enough they enveloped each other in a bone crushing hug. Y/N clung on just a little longer. The last hug she had with her was at Giovanni’s funeral.
“I am sorry I pushed you away Sprite.”
“It’s ok, I get it. I was going to lecture you about finding yourself again plus you were in a dark place.” Sprite held an honest and forgiving tone as she let Y/N go.
Y/N bit chewed on her upper lip. She knew this kindness was more than she deserved after everything she had done, but it meant the world to her that Sprite still treated her the same.
“I am working things out, but I am here to assist.”
“May I cut in?” The blonde warrior asked from behind sprite.
Y/N squealed. Launching herself at the unsuspecting women.
Thena smiled and grabbed Y/N’s face. Her eyes traced over the girls’ features taking in every inch of the face she hadn’t seen in so long.  Y/N looked the same, just tired and a little sadder in the eyes. After a moment Thena picked Y/N up in a bear hug twirling them both around. Both of them let out a giggle. It was the happiest Y/N has felt in a long time.
“I have missed you.” The warrior spoke while setting Y/N back on her feet.
“As I you.”
“Sorry to interrupt this moment, but Druig can you get rid of the humans over here?” Phastos called out from where he stood.
Druig nodded and glanced back over at Y/N. She was still smiling at the two people in front of her, clearly elated. His heart skipped a beat at the sight.  In the time apart from her he often dreamed about that smile.  He nudged her shoulder hands in his jacket pockets and tilted his head towards everyone else. Y/N gave him the same smile and looped her arm through his walking with him. It felt like the good times when they would stroll around town before everyone was awake.
Y/N said a soft hello once they stopped near the others. Sersi gave her a light embrace muttering a sweet hello.
“This is Y/N she can manipulate light into anything she wants it to be.” Kingo held an animated tone while speaking directly to the camera Karun was holding. Karun panned over to the women who waved at him not entirely sure what was going on.
“Not anymore. I can manipulate shadows though.”  Y/N tried to sound carefree as she spoke it aloud to the group, but failed there was an edge to her tone.
“Oh really! I may need to change the script for my next movie then.”
“You are still making those?”
“Yes, the people love me.” Kingo said in a duh tone.
“Who is this man?”
“Oh, that is my assistant Karun.”
“And he hasn’t run for the hills?”
Kingo shot Y/N a glare offended. He didn’t have a chance to remark as the wind picked up as Phastos summoned the ship.  Sand blew towards them. Y/N was cursing the fact that she was the only one who didn’t bring sunglasses. She buried her face in Druigs back holding her breath. She let out a small gasp when Druig reached behind and set a hand on her hip.
----
The group of eternals crept through the ship at a snail’s pace. Kingo whispered into the video camera speaking ominous words that sent a chill through the group. He was acting as if there was going to be an axe murder hiding on board to kill them.
“What are you doing? You know you are creeping us out right?” Phastos spoke up.
As if on que a loud pop echoed through the hall. Causing Y/N to flinch at the loud sound. She let out a small yelp and clung on to Druigs side. He let out a soft chuckle before putting an arm around her shoulder pulling her in closer.
“Its ok,” He murmured in her ear. “Thena stepped on something.”
“You turned my lab into a sarcophagus?” Phastos cried out to Makkari using his right hand to gesture around at the things strewn about.
Makkari was perched on a throne with a plethora of books surrounding her. She smiled once the group came to a stop in front of her.  She asked them if it was time to go home.
Y/N’s face twisted into a grimace not ready to break her spirit. She too wished to leave this plant and start over.  Makkari frowned once she took in everyone’s sullen expressions.
“Who is going to tell her?” Y/N asked.  She did not want to be the one to crush her spirit. She may have been a cruel person to those that deserved it, but she couldn’t do it to her family.
“I will do it.” Kingo volunteered after a moment of no one talking.
Phastos got to work immediately wasting no time in finding a solution. While the rest started rummaging through the goods in the room.
Y/N was rummaging through a box of paintings next to where Sprite sat on the ground. The red head was reading an old scroll. It was in a language Y/N had long forgotten. She stumbled across a dusty painting that a king had once gifted her.
‘It would be such a shame no to capture such beauty.’ He had said to her while obnoxiously drunk at one of his parties. No matter what Y/N said he would not take no for an answer. Leading her to reluctantly agree to letting him commission a piece. She pulled it out of the crate to look at it better. The colors had faded throughout the centuries.
“That king wanted to marry you. He almost proposed too, but Druig got involved.” Sprite spoke up. Lowering the scroll she was reading from.  At the mention of his name Druig turned to face them. His jaw clenched when he took in what Y/N was holding.
“I merely saved him from heartbreak when she inevitably said no.” Druig called out. Y/N rolled her eyes setting the painting back to its proper place.
Y/N narrowed her eyes as she watched Druig pick up her old journal from a pile in the corner of the room. Before he could open it she took off towards him. It was full of so many things that she didn’t want anyone to read.
“Give it to me.”  Y/N panted once in front of him.
“Oh, you want this” He held the book above his head with a smirk.
Y/N huffed out and jumped up trying to get it. On the third try her hands touched the leather. She had half the mind to tackle him, but she knew he wouldn’t budge.  Instead, Y/N got on a table to make herself taller.
“Yes, now please give it to me, or I will stab you.” The threat fell on deaf ears, as Druig lifted her from the table setting her back on the ground. He rested his forehead to hers smiling down at her angry look. He held the journal out to the side still just out of her grasp.
“What’s in here? Your dirty thoughts?”
“No.” Y/N blushed answering way too quickly. A heat coursing through her face.
Druig cackled, bringing everyone’s attention to the two for a second.  He handed her the brown leather book tapping her nose with it before walking away.
Y/N made a mental note to burn the book as soon as possible while hiding it under a pile of miscellaneous items. On the other end of the table was an old talisman Ajak had loved and wore it often. Y/N picked it up her heart breaking at the realization she would never see the women again. The air around her became stale as she tried to steady her beathing. Losing all the joy she had moments ago.
“Now where did you end up finding the Emerald tablet at Makkari?” Druig asked not too far from where Y/N stood lost in her thoughts.
Y/N grinned and turned to them. She had found it at an underground black-market auction. Where she bought it for more money than she cared to admit. A trusted friend of hers had packed it and delivered it personally to Makkari. With a note apologizing for ever doubting that it was real. It was her penance for making fun of her friend looking for something that sounded insane.
‘After all this time I found it. Sorry for doubting you- Love Y/N/N.’
Makkari pointed at Y/N. Signing out the story to Druig with a small grin on her lips.  It was a fond memory of hers when the mysterious package showed up.
Y/N plucked the tablet from Druigs’ unsuspecting hands. Her fingers brushed over the carvings on the stone. When she bought it she had barley looked at before sending it off. There was a lot to do, and the CIA had been on their way to her base in California. Druig watched as she bit down on her bottom lip furrowing her eyebrows at the green rock.
‘You finally admit you love her?’ Makkari signed to him with a knowing smile.
‘Shut up’ he signed back.
“I found a way to connect us all” Phastos called out pulling everyone back to him.
The plan was insane. Even if it did work who knew what the repercussions would be.
The group began to do what they do best and bicker with one another.  It was irksome to Y/N that they were here to save the humans and they still were all in disagreement. She rolled her eyes tuning out the yelling. Eventually they would calm down and they could try to solve the plot holes in the plan.
“We could be responsible for billions of lives not being created in the universe. Boss am I right?” Kingo cried out his words seemed to confuse Ikaris.
“Say something Ikaris! Y/N?” Sprite spoke out. A quite tension filling  the room as they all stared one another down.
“I don’t care what we do one way or another.” Y/N spoke. “We run a risk no matter what. Arishem will be mad at us.”
Ikiaris suddenly ran out of the room clearly shaken. Y/N knew that look on his face he was guilty of something she wasn’t sure what it was, but he carried a look of guilt in his eyes.
----
Y/N sat on a table watching Phastos work in awe. His fingers were incased in gold circles making rings on his fingers as he worked. He was rushing to find the answers and find some way to help Druig put the celestial to sleep.  If the situation wasn’t so life or death it would have been a beautiful thing to watch.
“I am close to figuring it out.”  Phastos glanced up at Ikaris who strolled into the room. The man glanced at everyone in the room before clenching his jaw and swallowed. His eye shifted to a gold color.
“Watch out!” Kingo hollered.
Y/N body tackled Phastos to the ground not caring if she got hit in the process. They needed him more than anything.
Sersi booked it into the room, joining the chaos that was quickly erupting.
“He lied to us he knew about the emergence.”  Sersi spoke standing in front of Phastos. Protecting him from Ikaris.
“No.” Kingo said in disbelief. Voicing everyone’s thoughts.
“Ajak told me everything when we left Babylon.”
“If Ajak wanted you to take her place, then why did she choose me?” Sersi swallowed. Deep down she knew the answer and was ready to face it. It was all Y/N needed to know that he did something unspeakable it connected all the dots.
“What have you done?” Sersi whispered when Ikaris made no move to answer her.
“He killed her.” Druig and Y/N said at the same time.
The group went silent.
“You are a pathetic murderer.”  Y/N snarled.
It was hypocritical of her to say she knew that, but he killed family. Someone innocent. One of the only family members they had.
“That’s rich coming from you. How many people have you killed?” Ikaris softly spoke his tone apathetic towards her.
Y/N Flinched taking a step toward him. She expected that answer honestly but wasn’t ready for her family’s judgement. Even coming from someone as pathetic as Ikaris. She understood why Druig hated him so much.
“I am not below taking one of a douche canouche.”
With in a blink there was a terrible troll like monster behind the smug man in blue. One twitch of her pinky and it would attack. A wicked smile crossed her lips. She would cross a line to redeem Ajak any day.
“Y/N” Druig called out. He took slow long strides to where she stood.
“Why?” Sersi managed to ask through her tears.
“I had to.”
Y/N screamed out ready to lunge at him. That was a pathetic answer; had to do it? She didn’t know when she grabbed one of her knives, but it was gripped tightly in a way that was useless. It wouldn’t do her any good in a fight against him anyway, but she didn’t care. She was willing to try. Druig wrapped an arm around her waist stopping her movements.
“Stop its not worth it.” He whispered to her. Trying to pull her back in.
This was not a fight they needed now. There was an emergence to stop.
“You will not succeed against me. I will kill everyone of you if I have to.” Those were Ikaris’s last words before he started to walk out.
“Wait. I am going with you.” Sprite finally spoke.
“Sprite no.” Y/N wanted to say more but in a blink of the eye they disappeared.
----
Sersi, makkari, Druig and Y/N started down the volcano that smoke was emerging out of. It was ready to blow at any moment.
“It’s time” Sersi said once it rumbled.
Before Druig could do anything, Ikaris was there knocking him over.
“Ikaris” Y/N warned the man.
“I should have done this five centuries ago” Ikaris spit out ignoring the yells, while pulling Druig up by the throat.
“Druig.” Y/N called out as ikrais flew off with him. Makkari screamed.
They watched as Ikaris threw Druig down. Both of them feeling utterly helpless in the moment. Then watched him attack the ship bringing it down. It was going to crash on them if they didn’t move. Makkari fast as always pulled everyone out of the way from the ship coming down.
“Druigs gone now its over.” Ikaris said from above them.
No, no, this cannot be happening. He cannot be dead. Y/N’ thoughts paced. Their plan was quickly falling apart. She went through rapid emotions before settling on anger. If Makkari hadn’t run off with him she would have attacked.  Rage gripped her heart. She wanted to hurt the man for taking so much from them.
The volcano rumbled again before erupting, setting off a minor earthquake. The environment around them began to change quickly.
“I have to get closer to Tiamut. Distract Ikaris” Sersi begged the group.
“My pleasure.” Y/N spoke mincingly in a ready to attack position.
They all took a chance at stopping him from doing killing anyone else.  Phastos shot pierced the air missing the man who seemed to be unstoppable. Thena fierce and unstoppable unleashed her weapons each strike doing some damage.
Y/N felt like a bystander desperate to do something, anything. But there were not enough dark patches for her to pull from. Her heart began to thunder against her chest when she realized how powerless she was.
“Y/N use the light.” Thena called out to her from chaos on the other side of the beach.
“I don’t think I can.”  Y/N confessed her fingers trembling.
“Try!” The blonde women commanded.
Y/N obeyed the warrior and reached out to the light trying to form anything. Light responded forming a fragile rope of gold it whipped out. As quickly as she had formed it dissipated in to the wind.
She groaned, growing frustrated, and tried again. Shadows merged with the light.  Shadowy golden monsters materialized scattering across the beach. Thena let out a whistle at the unexpected power of the girl.
Emerging from the depths of the ocean a deviant appeared in its grotesque form capturing every eye on the beach. Y/N hurled every monster in her arsenal at the creature. It was a useless attempt. Every time her monster got a cut or hit in the deviant mended itself unbothered. He managed to take out Y/N’s army quickly.
It lunged for Ikaris, hungry for blood. It was ready to attack him, and consume his powers.  Phastos, however, saved him from an untimely fate.
“Why are we helping him?” Thena asked and Y/N wanted to know the answer as well.
“We can’t let him absorb our powers.” Phastos stayed calm. Ready to fight back.
Thena managed to drag the creature’s attention to the cave across the way. They all called out trying to stop her before Ikaris attacked again. This time Y/N held him down with ropes of black. The flying man was now grounded in front of her.
“Don’t do this Y/N.”
“See Ikaris you took all I had left. Which means I have no will to live, and that right there makes me dangerous.”
Ikaris struggled aging the bounds, but the more he fought the harder the hold she had on him became. The man screamed out in anguish trying to shoot lasers at the girl. They missed and the Shadows covered his eyes blinding him temporarily. Y/N let out a giggle this was rich she had the upper hand, and she was going to take advantage of it.  He would have a fate worse then the man who had betrayed her 56 hours ago.
“Guys the world is literally starting to collapse.” Phastos turned her attention to the damage happening around them.
Tiamut began to emerge from the pits of the earth. Y/N wasn’t sure what she expected but the thing was massive.  They were losing the fight and it started to scare her a little. They could die and it would have all been for not. Her powers lessened their hold on Ikaris, and he took the moment to escape.
But before he could do anything the celestial began to turn white. Sersi was freezing it, and Ikaris took off angrier than ever.
Y/N laid sprawled out on the beach closing her eyes. Her eyelids were heavy and unable to stay open. Exhaustion clung to her limbs, she was ready to sink in to oblivion and forget that Druig once again slipped through her finger. A single tear escaped trailing down her cheek landing in the grains of sand. She squeezed her eyes tight refusing to feel the pain. Heartbreak had followed her for years and she didn’t want to feel it anymore. Yearned to cut the ties with that pain.
“You know Sunshine, I thought you would be a little more upset.”  Druigs voice cut out through her haze. The accent wasn’t as thick as usual there was a softer edge to it.
“Another hallucination great.” She muttered out bitterly. “How long will these ones-“
“Y/N look at me please. I am here. I wont ever leave you again.”
She cracked an eye open and he was there looking down at her.  A smug smile on his face and delightfully real. She shot her feet and put a hand on his chest. One of his hands came up and held it there anchoring her hold.
“I thought you left me again.” It was a barley audible whisper. As fragile as glass.
“Never my beautiful beautiful sunshine”
“Hug me please” She begged him, and she never begged a vulnerability she rarely displayed.
Druig didn’t make her ask twice. He pulled her body to him his arms cocooning her to him. His face nestled in the crook of her neck, and she played with the hair at the nape of his neck.  They closed their eyes taking in the warmth of the hug.
“You are alive.” She murmured aginst his shoulder. “I forgive you. You are alive - don’t leave me again.”
“Never. I promise” His words tickled her neck.
----
It was a warm afternoon at Ajaks house. Y/N sat on the porch staring out at the grassy field, avoiding the group inside. They were making plans for their future, and she was more lost than ever. Unsure of what to do. Loretta was officially in charge of the empire she had built. Y/N told her exactly how to shake the spiderman and wished her all the luck.
Y/N mindlessly created butterflies letting them fly away to eventually disappear. Part of her wanted to just disappear and do nothing for at least fifty years. Vacation in the Poconos and maybe Greece.
“Ahh there you are sunshine.”
Druig was standing behind her. Hands fisted in his coat pocket. He watched a butterfly fly away before sitting next to her. His blue eyes traced her face trying to figure out what she was feeling.
“What’s wrong?”
“I don’t know what I am going to do now. I gave Loretta the business, and now I have nowhere to call home or go.”
She was anxious and afraid, her heart beating against her ribs. Fear wound its claws through her thoughts. Even though he was standing there and promised to never leave she couldn’t help but wonder if he would abandon her again.
“I was thinking about going with Thena. Join us in finding other Eternals, it will be an adventure. If you don’t want to though I will follow you wherever you go. I never want to be parted from you again. We can make a life anywhere you want.”
Y/N leaned into him laying her head on his shoulder whispering an ok. Druig with a gentle finger under her chin lifted her face to meet his gaze.
“Yeah?” a smirk splayed on his lips.
“Yes.”
With those words Druig picked Y/N up and moved her to his lap. Her knees finding their place on either side of his hips.  His large hand cradling the the back of her neck drawing her face down to his. Her breath mingling with his. He nudges her nose with his own. Hesitation dances in his eyes, a delicate balance between longing and fear, as he debated on crossing the line he has yearned to cross throughout his entire existence.
“Dru.” She whispered her tone fragile a secret hidden in her words.
He hums in response.
“I love you.” She confessed.
And in that suspended moment, the world ceased to exist. His lips met hers like a man starved. It was needy and rushed, but it was perfect.  His kiss was a wild storm, a tempest that promised her forever. She melted into him pushing her body closer to his, her body seeking solace in him. Her soul was home in his arms. His hand, once firm on her neck, now cradled her face. Fingers slowly threading through her hair. She whimpered, lost in the sensation—the taste of him.
He smiled against her lips at the sound and broke away. Druig kissed down her jaw, a trail of fire left behind each one.  Each touch was a vow etched into her skin. And as she caught her breath, she knew: this kiss was the beginning of their forever.
She pulled him back giving him a peck. He groaned wanting more after finally knowing what it was like to have her.
“Dru.”
He hummed again in response, trying to kiss her, but she shook her head. The laugh he missed escaping her.
“Thank you for not hating me and what I did.”
“My beautiful, beautiful sunshine, never. I love you. I always have.”
She let him kiss her again. Ready for their next chapter.

‘Treacherous’ Masterlist | Main Masterlist
You made your way out to your apartment balcony, carefully maneuvering the tight space as you carried two plates filled with sandwiches and cups of soup. Druig was already sitting at the patio table. He’d been sitting there for a while scrolling on his new cellphone (or "cellular device," if you asked him about it).
You two had made a pitstop on your travels to see a few of the Eternals and Sersi had insisted on keeping in touch the modern way. She shoved a phone into Druig’s hands and, despite his protests, he quickly became fascinated with the technology. It was still a very funny sight to you. You were quite relieved you find you weren’t missing your phone, though.
"Do you have time to take a break from your phone for lunch?" You playfully asked as you placed a plate of food in front of your soulmate. He smirked and rolled his eyes before placing the phone on the table.
"I was reading about a farmer’s market that’s going to be not too far from here tomorrow," he explained. "We should check it out."
"Sounds nice," you replied and swirled your spoon around your serving of soup. It was evident that Druig missed the routine and community of the village. You noticed this pretty quickly after moving in together. He focused on very specific parts of living, such as cooking with particular organic vegetables. He was also very strict about security in your apartment. You never missed the protective eye he kept on, well, everything.
Living together like this was certainly an adjustment. Even though it wasn’t the first time you two had shared the same home, it felt very different now. You were coming together in one household on almost completely different terms. There was a willingness and dedication to this life that hadn’t felt as real or tangible in the village.
The place you lived in also felt very bizarre. It was a one-bedroom, cozy flat near the city but not in the heart of it. It screamed prime real estate to you. A place like this in New York would be mind-blowing. You didn’t know how Druig was able to obtain this flat but you also didn’t want to ask too many questions. All of the Eternals seemed to manage their livings on their own with ease and you would just go along with it for him.
"Are you okay, darling?" Druig asked, pulling you out of your wandering mind.
You nodded and took a bite of your sandwich. "That farmer’s market sounds really great. Hopefully, their growing standards live up to your demands," you joked.
"I’m sorry for thinking we should eat well," he replied, making your joking tone. "Perhaps that diner you took me to traumatized me."
You gasped. "You certainly weren’t complaining at the time."
He smirked. "I finally had you back. I was a little distracted, I wasn’t thinking clearly."
Your heart suddenly felt like it was mush in your chest. You didn’t know how he constantly managed to do that to you. It never felt like it would fizzle.
"There’s no need to woo me," you muttered as you felt your face get warm. "You already have me here."
"But that’s where you’re wrong. Because you’re here, I get to woo you every day, for as long as this world allows."
Now your stomach felt like mush. You had to force yourself to look away or else you would completely crumble under Druig’s gaze.
"An art gallery a few streets over is looking for an intern. I was considering applying," you said, changing the subject. You had to shift it—he could go on forever working you up.
Druig smiled at your admission. "That sounds wonderful."
"Yeah?" You sighed. "Do you really think so? I wasn’t totally sure, my creativity has been lacking for a while. I… I haven’t done much of anything creative since the village. I never got to finish the blanket." It was such an insignificant part of the village but its loss didn’t get past you. You had remembered that first spark that it ignited in you, that moment you wondered if you were right where you needed to be. It felt so silly to admit, so silly to have a knitted blanket hold so much weight, but its loss could’ve foretold so much.
"I’ll get you all the yarn you want," Druig responded with no hesitation. "You’ll get to make a hundred blankets. You can fill the entire flat with them."
You couldn’t help but laugh at his enthusiasm. "I make traditional art, too."
"Any materials you need, consider it done," he replied. "Do you want a studio? We could rent a studio."
You quickly shook your head, trying to get him to slow down. His tendency to come on strong and eager had yet to fully fade, but you were starting to think it never would.
"Let me start with the blanket and internship," you said. "Maybe I’ll get some paint sets as well. We can talk studios…at a later date."
"Sorry," he sighed. "I just want you to have everything. I… I don’t want you to regret this, not even for a second. I never want any more worries or fears running through your head."
You gave him a sympathetic smile and placed your hand on his where it rested on the table. You noticed he hadn’t touched much of his food, a seemingly uncommon occurrence for him.
"You can’t stop me from worrying, but I can assure you that, right here, right now, I’m very pleased with where I am in life. I’m happy in this apartment and I’m glad you’re the one I’m sharing it with."
You swore you heard Druig let out a sigh of relief but you ignored it.
"I think that’s all I’ve ever wanted to hear," he muttered. "I’m happy as well."
"Thank gosh," you said as a smile you couldn’t contain spread its way onto your lips. "Now, we should finish our lunch. I believe I was promised yarn."
"Anything for you, my beautiful, beautiful soulmate."
