i figured out the funniest possible deathspeaker timeline. timeline where dara is the same age as and grew up with joe and lily. dara starts transitioning at the age of 8 years old after she admits her massive crush on joe and he tells her he's not really interested in boys which makes her realize she isn't one actually. deciding to be a girl does not change joe's mind because he is 8 and so so demiromantic and doesn't know it yet, but lily sure is interested. cut to 10 years later lily and dara have been on again off again for 10 years with drama the likes of which you've never seen because they can't fucking stand each other. joe is also there realizing he needs better friends

MAAHES' ARISEN.... her name is dara.... was rothais' beloved.... pretty blue and white eyes like the sky.... she's 5'9 and Strong.... someone capable to rule by rothais' side.... i know she's a little Modern looking with the haircut but it's what i literally always envisioned her with So whatever. she was his beloved before he became arisen and supported him thru his journey and ruled alongside him as he founded and ruled vermund in the wake of slaying the dragon woohooooo!!!!

so i have been trying to think if becoming seneschal is the same as in dd1. did he jump in a hole and fight the previous god and have his pawn undergo bestowal?? did his pawn return to dara and she could tell something was off? how long before rothais came back down in that case? or did he even leave vermund and the current plane of existence? i can imagine dara putting together like. where is his pawn. and why is he acting so weird. and then going. OMFG.... in my mind she wouldn't be ruling or occupying the castle when rothais returns so maybe she leaves "him" (the bestowed pawn). and he comes back down and slays bestowed pawn and starts ruling again. i am attached to the idea that the world was exactly how we knew it cycle wise before rothais fucked it up, so i think this series of events is how i'll go abt it.

i don't think this would work timeline wise but maybe it still could somehow.... but i was thinking i wanted dara to be aware of rothais' habit of killing arisen which could only happen if there were a couple arisen before her.... maybe following rothais' defecting the pathfinder went crazy trying to make arisen so there were a few in rapid succession that just kept getting killed by rothais LOL. so when she became arisen (in a situation she had no choice but to fight the dragon, likely to protect others) she was just full of so much dread and anxiety. all of her past w/ rothais and his experience as arisen/sovran/seneschal PLUS becoming arisen herself in such a shitty situation planted deep seeds of hatred for the cycle within her. WHICH would end up being her ticket to bitterblack.

maahes kind of didn't help much but provided some kind of small comfort. how cruel for her mind to be so preoccupied with rothais that her pawn is conjured in his image!! as both an idealized version of him but also carrying aspects of her fear of him. there's probably some significance as to why maahes is pure white when rothais has like red hair (and also slimmer face/features than maahes) LOL. i just thought it would look cool is all. they really aren't 1:1 at all in the end but the Idea is there.

SHE herself, in kind of an ironic twist, became anxious and paranoid rothais would hunt her down and kill her. he did know about her becoming arisen, but chose to let her stay away bc part of him was still fond and knew he would become paranoid and want to kill her if they were in proximity. but there was really no way to tell her this esp since she was constantly traveling and was probably too far gone mentally. she would barely speak to anyone, often either fidgety or listless, even maahes, who was sort of forced to learn about the world around him on his own. when they would go into towns or inns out of necessity, he was often times the one doing the talking. luckily he was created to be brave, personable and outgoing but the whole scenario is kind of like when a kid has to become their parent's parent, but with arisen and pawn. they actually spent a LONG time doing this and i think maahes' even started undergoing some bestowal and developing his own will because of the extreme and odd situation (also maybe in the spirit of being based off of someone who had an extremely powerful will himself)

anyway maybe olra kind of senses a personality who's damned the cycle and makes her way to this world to ferry dara and maahes off to bitterblack, or dara finds her own way there somehow. they spend a bit of a while there too before dara dies, and maahes basically fully gets bestowed. only after that happens do tenanye and crew pick him up, as opposed to just hiding and avoiding/ignoring them like they usually do lol. he hangs out and does have some fun with them for like. a Bit. he does take the opportunity to know more about the cycle and the worlds from them all. but eventually him and tenanye find a way to travel back to vermund and ofc have their adventure together there. he really is fond of anye i want to make that clear bc it kind of is a shitty situation. but she's very endearing to him and he's glad to have met her, and he'll miss her and fauna and barroch.... bc even tho getting stranded on bbi and being isolated in that situation SUCKS he knows he's lucky to have found a silver lining and also to have been able to make it out....!! he's always kind of taken everything on the chin anyway....

they're very protective of her, especially since she doesn't have any 'self-defense powers'- she's their baby

one of them seems especially protective and attentive of her. maybe even more than he is of sooha

most comfortable with them. they're the only ones who know her energetic and vulnerable side

dara was happy to have another girl around but her skepticism came out again when she saw how romantically interested heli was. she just doesn't want him hurt

sooha is always so nervous with her. is it because she finds her intimidating or could it be something else?

she was extremely skeptical when she heard that the guys were interested in someone outside of their group but immediately felt a sense of longing when they first met.

—the werewolves:

dara is weirdly calm with the werewolves, as how they are with her. it's clear that the werewolves have a weird soft spot for her

it still doesn't stop the hostility between the two beings, though they won't do much when she's present

—she plays nightball but isn't part of the team. she joins in on the boys' practices

—nurse's assistant yet no one really knows how good she is at healing when they all find her scary

—she was the only girl who survived what happened in the orphanage. she felt very lonely and the boys tried their hardest to help her

My head is filled with scenarios for the tlods family 🥹 so here's another one!

Imagine jin working on weekend at home but sena wants attention. "Appa, let's play cooking!" "Can you wait a bit princess? Appa had to finish doing this first okay?" "But i wan to play now appa" "appa will play with you in a bit okay?", sena doesn't answer and just sits on the floor beside him with the biggest pout she could muster while staring at jin. At first jin will try to just let her be but soon he already can't resist her 😂 everyone would literally be so whipped for sena. Uncle yoongi, aunty dara but i think the most whipped one would be uncle kook 🤣

Oooh Sena would always want attention! When she’s on the floor pouting, Jin would be looking at her and they’d have a stare down on who’ll give in first; Jin always does, and he spends an entire afternoon playing with her 🥹

Dara would be spoiling her and they’d have “girls talk” all the time, causing her to declare that she wants a baby; Yoongi sits next to her choking on his drink 😂😂 but the way he’d talk to her to say, “ok your appa is a little stressed so I need you to hug him and tell him you love him so he won’t yell” would be too cute. i do think i joke/talk a lot about joe and dara having a semi toxic relationship a lot because it is fascinating and it is true, and it is also . like, already done with that part in the comic. like chapter 7 was the worst of it. they don't get any worse from here they're gonna get way better from now on <3 both of them snapping at each other, and then taking a couple hours away from each other, and then being put in a life threatening scenario that takes much higher priority than their issues making them realize how fucking stupid this all is, was what they needed to start working on making shit better. their relationship is actually stronger than ever for the rest of the comic because the toxicity was only a lil bit about the relationship itself, it was more about the fact that both of them are very flawed people with a lot of hatred for themselves and it's the fact that they care about each other that made them want to actually self reflect and realize what they're unhappy with about themselves and start the process of being who they want to be

It was raining outside but Bug was warm and relaxed, his back pressed against a bare chest and an arm wrapped securely around him.

The room was dark but light from under the door revealed its small dimensions.

The room smelled of sex and Bug could feel the ache of it in his body but there was no pain.

Just a satisfying exhaustion.

Bug wasn't warm, wrapped safely in a lover's arms.

He was cold, curled up on a blanket on the floor of a closet, covered in shallow, stinging cuts.

He kept his eyes shut and let the heartache wash over him.

This single, persistent vision had been stalking his dreams since he was a child but lately it had been unrelenting.

He couldn't go to sleep without ending up back in that man's arms.

He hated it.

He knew it was more than a dream.

He had first started seeing it when he was six years old and he had first discovered his ability to see into the future.

At that age, he hadn't known enough about sex to conjure up such a scenario but it also wasn't something that could ever come to be.

Bug knew that, there was no single, guaranteed future, tthere were infinite possibilities, constantly being narrowed by the decisions people made.

If the scene that kept playing out in his dreams had ever been a possibility, the chances that he was still on a path that could lead him to that one very particular future were infinitesimally small.

Besides, in the dream he'd recently been on the receptive end of sex and he hadn't been in any pain.

He was quite sure his body wasn't capable of that at this point and the man had called him Baugh.

That hadn't meant anything to him when he was six, it had just been his name but it had been so long since anybody had pronounced his name correctly that even he introduced himself as Bug on the rare occasion anyone asked for his name, he simply was Bug now.

It wasn't some beautiful magic guiding him to his destiny, it was just an accident, some vision of what might have been that had become stuck and hung around to torment him.

The two days of travel it took to reach Givanon were a miserable affair.

There was nothing Brayan could offer Dara that he would eat without Brayan irritating him until he complied and if he had any other wants or needs he refused to give voice to them.

Maric was silent, for the most part.

He ate but only because it meant Brayan would leave him alone.

He asked after Dara to confirm that he had eaten but he never spoke to him directly.

Arriving in Givanon came as somewhat of a relief.

Certainly this would come with its own challenges and Maric was in no mood for diplomacy but overall Brayan thought having something else to focus on would do them all good.

Givanon had a single leader, Lord Nolen, who was a direct descendant of the original royal line who had run the city back when it was a kingdom.

While he still technically served under King Rowan, the fact that he ruled by birthright meant he couldn't simply be replaced.

Not without the local populace becoming disgruntled.

That meant that Brayan wouldn't be drawing his sword on the man unless for some bizarre reason he had cause to use it.

Givanon was one of the larger cities in the kingdom and it was best to keep good blood with them.

There was a whole crowd of people gathered to greet them.

Brayan gave Garrod a nod to let him know he was in charge of organising the men while they stabled the horses and gathered their gear and followed Maric over to greet Lord Nolen.

Lord Nolen was a soft looking man, which was perhaps not surprising for someone who lived like a King.

His eyes seemed to be on everyone, studying and judging, until Maric was in front of him and his attention narrowed in.

"Your highness," Lord Nolen offered a perfect bow.

"Last time I saw you, you were here with your father. You've grown."

Maric acknowledged him with a nod of his head.

"My father always speaks well of Givanon. I expect this trip to be brief and trouble free."

Lord Nolen smirked.

"Oh? Do we have to cause you trouble to earn your presence for longer?"

The slave standing behind Lord Nolen was absolutely huge.

Brayan was of above average height but this slave was at least a head taller than him and the muscle.

Brayan had to question the wisdom of owning a slave who could kill you without breaking a sweat but Lord Nolen was still alive so perhaps he knew what he was doing.

Lord Nolen's other slave didn't draw the eye quite so quickly but he did hold it.

At first glance Brayan thought he had darkened his lashes with kohl but no, they were just naturally thick.

It drew attention to his dark brown eyes.

His hair was the same very dark brown as Dara's but a little longer, a little wavier.

His slender frame looked tiny next to Lord Nolen's other slave.

The slave's eyes flicked up and locked with Brayan's for a second, widened as Brayan stared back at him and then quickly dropped again.

Brayan pressed his lips together to keep from smiling.

Brayan had let the slave distract him so much that he hadn't even noticed Dara approaching until he was already uncomfortably close to Maric.

Maric took a step to the side to put some distance between the two of them and then seemed to realise how bad that looked and squared his shoulders.

When Dara moved closer to him again, he stood his ground.

Dara leant up and whispered something into Maric's ear.

Brayan tried to make out the words but there was far too much going on around them for the sound to travel.

Whatever it was, it had to be important for Dara to pick this time and place to speak to Maric for the first time in two days.

Maric's eyes leapt to the smaller of Lord Nolen's slaves and locked on as he murmured something back to Dara.

Dara nodded.

Wheel of Time 2x1 "A Taste of Solitude" thoughts:

So much chatter from the Dark friend Social clip about the Aes Sedai ring, whether it was really black, why they would wear a black ring to announce their Ajah...guys, she's wearing it over gloves which means there was a very conscious decision to wear it to display both allegiance to the Dark One and status as a sister. I highly doubt it's ever worn outside of scenarios where everyone present is also a Darkfriend.

The Tua'thuan girl who was present at the social...was it the same child who escaped the slaughter of the caravan? Horrifying implications if so.

As much as I love Hurin, I really support the decision to replace him with Elyas. Sniffing is not a Talent ever seen again in WoT and having that skill be directly related to communication with the wolves is a great move.

Also love Perrin getting sent the images (from the wolves without realising) just before Elyas shares what he knows.

Loved loved loved everything about the Tower scenes...they did such a great job of teaching us more about the Tower and its culture while also making all the information feel natural and the characters rounded

Ihvan and Maksim's backstory! Egwene being super uncomfortable with how openly sexual Alanna is! Novice chores being turned into a lesson! Nynaeve taking up with the warders because fighting with a sword is something she can learn and she'd rather give up on the power than try and fail! (Truly such a brilliant choice on the writer's part)

I'm just disappointed that they haven't introduced Elayne via her friendship with Egwene...maybe she and her brother(s?) haven't arrived at the Tower yet?

I'm not sure how a year has passed since the first episode (6 months since Fall Dara, one month time skip to get to Tar Valon...surely everything else didn't take 5 months?) but I'll accept it because the Bel Time sequences and callbacks were beautiful

Perrin lighting a lantern for Layla and Rand but not being able to give up his wedding ring, Egwene and Nynaeve lighting a lantern for Rand while touching on their grief, and of course the reveal that Rand is celebrating Bel Tine too...scattered across the world, they're still tied together by the traditions of their home

Liandrin revealed to be a Darkfriend in one of the best ways possible...heartbreaking to see the result of Moiraine's decision to set the Red Ajah on Mat when she still suspected he might be the dragon is that he's now a prisoner of a member of the Black Ajah and thinks his friends have all forgotten/abandoned him (since he doesn't know Liandrin can lie)

Donal looks soooo close to the Mat in my head and I'm so excited to see him in action this season. Happy that it seems we're skipping a second book of Mat being tainted by the dagger and going straight to him trying to escape from Tar Valon

Oh...if Mat doesn't/never realises that Liandrin is Black Ajah this gives him SUCH a good reason to be distrustful of all Aes Sedai in the future! Moiraine sold him to the Red Ajah and then Liandrin has kept him imprisoned!

Liandrin is so sinister that every scene with her makes me grip the edge of my seat...even before the reveal, being told that she's killed a novice before with her methods makes you seriously worried about what she's going to do to Nynaeve to break her block

Moiraine is such a crunchy character...how she doesn't mind putting people in danger if it serves the greater good, how she treats Lan exactly the way she did the kids in the first season (withholding all information)...she gets so much love on tumblr that it's easy to forget that she is not exactly Good

Love that without the bond Lan and Moiraine don't know how to talk to each other...nice callback to the conversation between Karene and her warder last season about how they're a strange pair, and their bond and mutual quest is really all that held them together

But still! Lan knowing Moiraine enough to know where she's gone and showing up just in time to save her! That whole fight really puts emphasis on how disadvantaged regular people are compared to channelers bc the whole time I was just begging Verin and Adeleas to show up

(I'm mostly okay with them merging Verin and Vandene but it means we're probably gonna miss the Grieving Sister on a Revenge Quest later on which really is a shame...almost nothing in the books makes me cry like the scene of Vandene wailing over her sister)

I'm not sure whether the sparks around Moiraine were her starting to break her shield, or just channeling from the others that she thought for a second was hers...I'm leaning a bit towards the former a) because Moiraine will probably have to break her shield herself before the end of the season (I don't see Ishy lifting it) and b) because it's a fascinating parallel with Nynaeve breaking her own block, and both of them using extreme emotion to reach for the source.

Really like the reveal that the battle at the EOTW only broke the seal that was keeping Ishy trapped...can't remember how that worked in the books but it's a great change if it's not. I'm assuming the broken seal Domon found was holding Lanfear in and that the poem he gave Moiraine revealed her identity

Also! Domon! I love you but where is your weird-ass beard that leaves your upper lip bare?

Uno is so good so far and Ingtar is...very attractive, I'm going to be so upset when he dies

In the next few minutes, I wanted to help you explore five practical strategies (inspired by notable professionals) to help you foster critical thinking skills in the classroom (where applicable).

Shape the Climate to Support Thinking: Dara Laws Savage, an experienced English teacher, emphasizes the importance of creating a thinking-based classroom environment. By integrating current events into lessons, teachers can encourage students to think critically about the world around them. One effective technique is the FIRE Write: students focus, identify, reframe, and exchange their thoughts, fostering active engagement and critical reflection.

The only reason I wasn't angry was the prior 15 episode track record of gutting Nynaeve of accomplishments.

Nynaeve did not help anyone during the Trolloc attack

Nynaeve did not display any political power or authority in the village before the attack. There was no indication she was a prominent person, or that her opinions carried weight (e.g. merchants promising to fire employees who incurred her wrath, the villagers being afraid the eagerly awaited gleeman might be cancelled if Nynaeve disapproves of his repertoire) or that she had a constituency in the village who would kick their husband's ass for lobbying against her. Instead, the woman who defends their political bloc in the books is introduced as a sloppy drunk on the show.

Nynaeve did not display medical competence, by adhering to principles of hygiene, sanitation and triage in the aftermath of the attack, nor ethics, by asserting that she would never harm a patient, or by telling her patients what herbs she was giving them. Instead, she refused to tell her patient's guardian what she was giving her, and demanded a quid pro quo before agreeing to treat the patient.

Nynaeve's tracking ability is treated like a trick that Lan wants to understand how she did it, as a joke to make other warders laugh at Lan for letting her track him and finally, as a fraud, when she admits she didn't track Lan, but followed them by a way that is not compatible with what was on the screen. In the books, Lan showed her respect from the first, we got to see her sneak up on him and Moiraine, and he later employed her in the rescue of Perrin and Egwene, citing those skills.

Nynaeve does not help with the rescue of Perrin and Egwene, nor get a chance to demonstrate her observation and analysis skills or ability to act under pressure.

Nynaeve never advocates for people harmed as collateral damage in the war the Shadow wages against her fellow villagers.

Nynaeve's backstory anecdote of her first time channeling, demonstrating her altruistic nature and care for her neighbors, is repurposed to an improbable story of how Egwene as a child, overcame an illness by force of will, when the old Wisdom was ready to euthanize her and Nynaeve was a passive observer to everything.

Nynaeve is not shown handling the practical aspects of the group's journey, by making supply lists and such.

Nynaeve does not get to say things that matter to the three ta'veren, either naming them men in recognition of their willingness to do their part against the Shadow, or giving voice to the danger Rand presents as a male channeler.

Nynaeve does get to whimper ineffectually in the background for everyone to stop fighting, while they ignore her. She does get to tell Lan she's a fraud at tracking, she gets to be shown immaturely stalking him, before being invited to meet his family, and gets to be dumped by Lan after a one-night stand. She gets to be wrong when she dismisses Perrin's spotting Padan Fain in Fal Dara, and gets to be demonstrated to be utterly wrong in believing she can take care of Mat's dagger issue.

Nynaeve does not show her loyalty to her neighbors by helping to hide Rand from the Aes Sedai.

Nynaeve does not demonstrate her commitment and priorities by making definitive choices in her Accepted test; instead the scenarios, all three, are change to make leaving the scenario the more attractive and even moral choice.

Nynaeve does not show she's no fool, despite Siuan's later efforts to gaslight the Wondergirls, by questioning Liandrin's attempt to take them to Tomon Head.

Nynaeve does not evade the Seanchan's efforts to collar her, nor help a sheltered princess figure out the ropes of passing as a commoner in hostile territory.

Nynaeve does not infiltrate a Seanchan occupied town, secure lodgings for herself and Elayne, probe a sul'dam and damane to learn the weaknesses of the a'dam and then evade a search for whoever did what she did.

Nynaeve does not negotiate a deal to obtain passage by ship in exchange for protection with Bayle Domon.

Nynaeve does not figure out how to work the a'dam on her own, despite her channeling handicap.

Nynaeve does not infiltrate the damane kennels and rescue Egwene. She does not get to pass justice on the sul'dam they capture, and talk down Egwene from taking unconstructive vengeance or remind Elayne that violence and justice are not the same thing.

Nynaeve does not take actions in Falme that will have payoff down the road, and set up the escape of quite a few other characters from the Seanchan with the choices she makes here.

With all of that established, who can be surprised that all she accomplished in all of Season Two was serve as a human crutch for Elayne to help her meet her love interest and uncanonically Heal him? That she served mostly to make Liandrin more "complex" and "interesting", by being the perspective and recipient of her invented choices? Where in Season One, the Writer's Pet Egwene was established in an alt/test scenario that she would never settle for a husband and child, the crowning moment of drama for Nynaeve in Season Two was being teased with a happy life that gets yanked away from her, namely a husband and child, the loss of the latter being the strongest demonstration of emotion or pain from her all season. Basically, the message of the show is "Egwene is so awesome and badass that she could never be happy with the life of a Two Rivers goodwife with a little daughter... but Nynaeve sure would!

The show version is better though, because it gives black girls a heroine like themselves on the screen. If you have a problem with her, you are racist, not the people who took Nynaeve's story elements or plot achievements that should have fallen to her and gave them to whiter-skinned characters.

Of the hot, hot mess that was wot on prime s2 e8, Nynaeve's storyline was the most infuriating.

First, she has MAJOR ISSUES with using the a'dam. She did NOT torture Seta in the books. She bullies her into compliance using her regular Nynaeve charm.

She knows that to channel she must be angry, so if she is struggling to channel, she doesn't sit there like an idiot feeling sorry for herself. She MAKES HERSELF ANGRY. She should have been muttering about how vile the a'dam is and how she hates the people who created it and tugging on her braid while blackthorn bush grows around her and blossoms and she heals Elayne's leg like new. And THEN she doesn't let go because she doesn't know if she'll get it back.

Also, while she's trying to channel, she's sorting through her herbs and removing the arrow. She would DEFINITELY remove the fletched end before pulling the arrow through. The absolute incompetence displayed by show!Nynaeve was unacceptable.

(Should I mention that having Elayne heal Rand was another racism against Nynaeve? Probably best to keep that one to myself.)

CL: Chaerin decided to take her daughter to the recording studio with her. You were currently at work, and she couldn’t get any of the girls to watch her, so she happily led her into the booth with her. They sat down, but when Chaerin took her daughter’s juice away from her so she wouldn’t spill it on the equipment, she screeched the f-word. She stood shocked, taking her headphones off to make sure she heard her correctly. 

“Sweetheart? Did you really just say the f-word? Don’t ever say that again okay?”

Minzy: You had all just finished a nice family dinner that you Minzy had worked hard on. The three of you had enjoyed a hearty meal of homemade jjapchae and kimchi stew. As Minzy collected the plates to start the dishes, you had to break the news to your little boy that there would be no dessert tonight. Minzy stopped dead in her tracks as she heard him yell the f-word in response. 

“Honey, where did you learn that word? Please don’t say it again, okay?”

joe's such a dad. he tells kiara he's not legally allowed to drive her to school because every time he steps into a car he blacks out (semi true, he's not allowed to drive because he just passes out sometimes and the risk isnt worth it) because the truth is more complicated to explain and this'll keep her from asking again. so now every time dara drives the 2 of them anywhere he just takes a nap to keep the lie up. he's winning in this scenario
