10 January 2023: King Abdullah II was briefed on plans for establishing the new city, to be located nearly 40km from Amman’s centre and 31km from Zarqa city, in line with economic and administrative modernisation efforts.
The meeting, attended by Crown Prince Hussein, brought together Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh and a number of officials, as well as the team involved in the new city project. King Abdullah directed the government to form an advisory committee of specialists and experts in various sectors to benefit from their views on city planning, to ensure the new city will be an architectural and urban model, and to meet the sustainability needs for resources, energy, water, and the environment. His Majesty called for moving forward with the implementation of the new city within clearly identified timeframes, in order for the project to become a key economic driver, while providing an investment-friendly environment to create job opportunities, highlighting the importance of providing the public with clear and transparent information on the project. The King also stressed the need for the new city to accommodate current and future population growth in Jordan, improve quality of life, and ease pressure on facilities in Amman and Zarqa, in addition to being a model of effective public-private partnership. The city will be established on and surrounded by state-owned lands, which would facilitate decision-making regarding various phases of the project. Prime Minister Khasawneh elaborated on the government’s measures to complete this national megaproject, noting that studies and plans will be completed in two years, with the necessary funds allocated by the government, expecting implementation to start in 2025 with the infrastructure, as a total of JD442 million will be allocated for the infrastructure from the state budget, at an average of JD50 million annually. He added that a ministerial committee was formed to supervise progress, noting that a government-owned company will later handle the management and follow-up on implementation of all phases of the project. The prime minister noted that the ownership of new city lands will be transferred to this government-owned company, adding that the government will endorse regulations on urban planning of the city. He said the city will be based on public-private partnership, and several buildings and facilities will be constructed on a build-operate-transfer basis. For his part, Tharwat Masalha—resident manager of Dar Al Handasah, the firm tasked with preparing the studies and masterplan of the new city—highlighted the sustainable approach in planning the city, by ensuring sustainability of water and energy resources, and using modern transportation systems, in order for the city to be eco-friendly and attractive to residents. He expected the first phase of the project, which includes preparing the masterplan, to be finalised by early 2025, and for the second phase of building the infrastructure to start in the same year. Masalha said the city’s nucleus will include building a governmental complex that would house some public institutions, surrounded by residential areas, and other entertainment and commercial facilities, expected to be finalised in 2030.

The Jamaraat Bridge
The Jamaraat Bridge is a pedestrian bridge in Mina, Saudi Arabia near Mecca used by Muslims during the stoning of the devil ritual of the Hajj. The bridge was originally constructed in 1963, and has been expanded several times since then. The purpose of the bridge is to enable pilgrims to throw stones at the three jamrah pillars from either the ground level or from the bridge. The pillars extend up through three openings in the bridge. Until 2006 the bridge had a single tier (i.e. a ground level with one bridge level above). At certain times, over a million people may gather in the area of the bridge, which has sometimes led to fatal accidents.[1] “Jamaraat” is the plural of jamrah which is the Arabic term for each of the pillars involved in the stoning ritual. It literally means a small piece of stone or a pebble
New Bridge
Following the January 2006 Hajj, the old bridge was demolished and construction began on a new multi-level bridge. The ground and first levels were complete in time for the 2006/2007 Hajj, which passed without incident. Construction on the remaining two levels have been completed since December 2007 1428 AH Hajj. The new bridge (designed by Dar Al-Handasah and constructed by the Bin Laden Group) contains a wider column-free interior space and expanded jamrah pillars many times longer than their pre-2006 predecessors. Additional ramps and tunnels were built for easier access, and bottlenecks were engineered out. Large canopies are planned to cover each of the three jamrah pillars to protect pilgrims from the desert sun. Ramps are also being built adjacent to the pillars to speed evacuation in the event of an emergency. Additionally, Saudi authorities have issued a fatwa decreeing that the stoning may take place between sunrise and sunset, rather than at the mid-day time that most pilgrims prefer.

Se acerca el fin de año y es hora de los rankings. Esperando el resumen del 31 de enero, aquí hay una visión general de los edificios más altos y fascinantes del mundo. Desde los Emiratos Árabes Unidos hasta Asia, desde siena hasta los Estados Unidos, en una carrera hacia el piso más alto y las vistas más espectaculares.
El Burj Khalifa -de la "Torre Califal" árabe- es el rascacielos más alto del mundo, con una ventaja significativa en términos de altura en comparación con cualquier otro edificio (636 metros de altura, que se convierte en 828 si se considera la aguja). TORRES DE ABRAJAS. Las Torres Al-Bait Abraj, también conocidas como la Torre del Reloj del Hotel Real de la Meca, es un complejo de edificios situado en la Meca (Arabia Saudita) que se terminó de construir en 2012. Un hotel y un edificio residencial de doble propósito, el edificio tiene 120 pisos y una altura máxima de 601 metros. El complejo está dividido en siete estructuras de sub-torre y posee numerosos registros, como el hotel más alto del mundo, la torre de reloj más alta del mundo, el reloj de fachada más grande que existe y la zona de rascacielos más grande del mundo. Su ubicación, muy cerca de Masjid al-Haram, la mayor mezquita del mundo, y de la Kaab, el lugar más sagrado del Islam, también es muy especial. Fue diseñado por el arquitecto árabe Dar Al-Handasah.
La torre del cantón. Firmada por la firma de arquitectura holandesa Information Based Architecture, ganadora del concurso internacional de 2004 con Arup, la Torre Canton es un espectacular edificio de 600 metros de altura en el corazón de Guangzhou, China. Después de seis años de trabajo, el año pasado la torre finalmente se abrió al público y hoy, entre los habitantes de Guangzhou, se la conoce como Supermodelo, el "top model", nombre que nace de sus formas sinuosas y envolventes. En el interior, el edificio comprende 37 pisos de exposición, un centro de congresos, un cine, dos restaurantes giratorios y un restaurante VIP, varios cafés y numerosos miradores.
TORRE CCN. La Torre CN (Torre Nacional Canadiense), que se alza en el horizonte de Toronto (Canadá), es la tercera torre de telecomunicaciones más alta del mundo y la tercera estructura autoportante más alta del mundo jamás construida. A 553 metros de altura, la torre alberga una serie de servicios, incluyendo un restaurante, un piano bar y un punto de observación con terraza exterior. Muy particular es la sección de la terraza de observación llamada Piso de Vidrio, piso de vidrio. En la práctica, una parte de la terraza consiste en gruesas losas de vidrio que permiten a los visitantes caminar con la sensación de estar suspendidos en el vacío a una altura de 347 metros. Abierta al público en la primavera de 1976, la torre fue sometida a una serie de trabajos de mantenimiento y modernización en 2002.
TORRE DE OSTANKINO. Terminada en 1967, la torre Ostankino es una torre de hormigón armado para la radiodifusión y la televisión construida en la ciudad rusa de Moscú por el arquitecto Nikolai Nikitin. El uso extensivo de hormigón pretensado hizo que la torre fuera sencilla y robusta y hoy, con 540,1 metros de altura, Ostankino ostenta el récord de la estructura autoportante más alta de Europa. En 1994 se lanzó el proyecto de aumentar la altura de la torre a 561 metros mediante la adición de una antena, pero al final no se llevó a cabo por falta de fondos.
TORRE WillisWILLIS. El edificio más alto del mundo de 1973 a 1998, la Torre Willis, también conocida como Torre Sears, es un edificio de oficinas en el corazón de Chicago, Illinois. Diseñada por los arquitectos Skidmore, Owings y Merrill, la torre, de 527 metros de altura, consta de nueve grandes estructuras tubulares cuadradas de varias alturas, una al lado de la otra. Consta de 108 pisos de espacio vital y está equipada con 104 ascensores.

Versova-Bandra Sea Link Project by Reliance Infrastructure: Amazing Facts You Didn’t Know
A colossal country stands to be akin to a hustling cruise ship. The direction may be undecided, the gushing smoke, the lives of many, centralised in the hands of few. India being the agricultural hub is pacing fast to urbanize in a way that would put most of the developing countries to shame. And then, there are the men behind the mission who have been spearheading the endeavour in a fashion like there’s no tomorrow working day and night towards the development of the infrastructure of the country. One of such men is Anil Ambani. Recently, his company Reliance Infrastructure of Reliance Group conglomerate bagged in the Versova-Bandra sea link project. It is a Rs. 7000 crore marquee project of R-Infra which was bagged from the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC).
The Particulars: The VBSL is a marquee project with the Sea Link having a length of 17.17 km, which is three times the length of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link of 5.6 km. The Sea Link will cut down the commute time of the travellers from 90 minutes drastically to 10 minutes. To be developed at an estimated Rs 7,000-crore budget, the project is estimated to be delivered in 60 months from the appointed date of June 24, according to its exchange filing. The Versova-Bandra Sea Link was planned with a need to develop a peripheral road that could help ease traffic from north to south and from east to west of the city. As per the salient features of the Versova-Bandra Sea Link project, the length of the main sea link would be 9.6 km with 4+4 lane. The Bandra Connector would be 2+2 Lane, Carter Road would be 3+3 Lane and Juhu Koliwada would be 2+2 Lane and Nana Nani Park would be 3+3 Lane. These connectors, according to the MSRDC, will help ensure fewer jams at the points where vehicles enter and exit the corridor. The MSRDC was appointed as the nodal agency for the project by Maharashtra government on 19 December 2009. For the project, Reliance Infrastructure has completed the works related to soil investigation in partnership with Fugro Ltd, and engineering design in partnership with Dar Al Handasah. The corridor would also serve as an extension to the existing Bandra-Worli Sea Link. The company asserted that their partner in the project, Astaldi S.p.A, is the world's third largest player in bridge construction. This is the second leg of a 20-kilometre coastal road from Malabar Hill in south to Versova in the north.
As per Punit Garg, Executive Director and CEO of Reliance Infrastructure, “This project will further propel Reliance Infrastructure as a premier Engineering and Constrcution company in India. Our partnership with Astaldi S.P.A, the third biggest construction player in the world in bridges, will help us create a truly world class mega infrastructure project for Mumbai.” He further added that will be able to save drastically in their fuel expenditure as well as enjoy "eco-friendly travel with minimal carbon footprint".
Furthermore, the sea link comprises the northern part of the Mumbai coastal road from Bandra to Versova. Also the commuters travelling to the south of Mumbai from the western suburbs could avoid the Western Express Highway once the new route becomes operational.

DEWA receives the bids for Metro link Consultancy Services
Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (DEWA) receives the bids for the pre contract consultancy service for the metro link from its new Head Quarter.
A total of eight biddser has submitted the proposals. Global engineering firm, Dar Al Handasah Consultants (Dar) has submitted the lowest bid.
Dar has submitted the price of AED 1,544,832.
