i love being indecisive and not having a set list <3 but shirley jackson's the haunting of hill house is up there it probably takes at least 3 spots on tht roster

12. did you enjoy any compulsory high school readings?

sandra cisneros' the house on mango street just completely and utterly knocked me out, i'll never forget working multiple weeks ahead in tht unit in a couple days just so i could finish reading it. also enjoyed wht little we did of julius caesar i've still gotta get to the whole thing at some point

Auntie Jillian, have you, in your more extensive perusal of the "Women's gothic romance novels of the mid 1960's to the mid 1970's" (those really need a catchier classification!) come across any in which the subject matter includes vampires? Other than "Vampire Cameo," that is, which I tracked down on your recommendation and which reads like the vampire story 12-year-old me would have written. I am trying to track the vampire archetype in fiction just before Anne Rice hit the world.

I rummaged through the vampire bookcase AND the gothic romance annex, and here’s what I have:

The Vampyre of Moura by Virginia Coffman (You don’t have to read the previous books, but I do recommend Moura just because it’s a lot of fun.)
