Now Oscar was not exactly what you'd call a sports fan, at least not in the traditional sense. He didn't have favourite teams and could care less about football and had only gone to a couple of games when he happened to be dating someone on the team or who worked behind the scenes in a high up position. The Federation on the other hand was a little bit different. He'd only gone originally for an in-person viewing since his family had invested quite significantly in the group and they wanted to see their investment in action. But once it became clear to Oscar that it was primarily handsome, strong men manhandling each other? Well, he suddenly became more interested.

So he went to more shows, always dressed to impress and had become aware that more than a few eyes would wander whenever he showed up. Managers and wrestlers alike and Oscar very much enjoyed the attention and the fact people that he was fairly certain some of the wrestlers put on more of a show for him. So there he was, in his VIP booth a good thirty or so minutes before the main event started when he noticed someone making their way over to him...

If Nero has 200 IQ, this is the phone he’d gift to the twins.

Yep, the myth, the legend, the one and only indestructible force in the universe - Nokia 3310. I think it would be hilarious if Nero gave the twins one phone, because:

a) they need to learn to share

b) by combining their singular brain cells together into a rich commonwealth of two, they might just figure out how to work the phone

Of course, the indestructibile nature of this phone is a necessary feature. Now, you might be wondering why?

Nero decides to give the twins a call, maybe invite them over for dinner. After only a minute of waiting, Dante picks up. The background echoes with gunshots, exclamations of 'schum’ and menacing demon screams in a clear indication that the twins were out on a job.

“Hey, what's up, kid?”

“Uh sorry, you busy?”

“Never too busy for my favourite nephew.”

“I'm your only nephew.”

“Doesn't make it less true.”

“Suuure. Look, can you pass the phone to Vergil? I need to ask him something.”

“Aw, you're breaking my heart. Here I thought we had something special.”

Next, Nero hears demon screeches growing louder. A loud crack. Some shuffling noises before Vergil calmly answers the call.

Now it's time to play a game of ‘guess what the hell happened there’!

If you guessed - ‘Dante, being Dante, decided to showcase his phone-passing skills by bouncing it off a demon’s skull over to Vergil’ - then you're correct! A clear example of why the twins need a phone that can endure some serious beating. I'm also a firm believer that the Nokia could double as a weapon of great destruction in the field. I doubt getting hit with that brick on the head was easy to shrug off for the unlucky demon.

Real question though, what would the twins set Nero's ringtone as? And vice versa, Nero's ringtone for twins? (I know, I know, Nokia 3310 doesn't have a custom ringtone feature, but shhhh.. Nico works her miracles on the phone.)

Need I say more? Although it would be hilarious if Nero set it as a ringtone for the twins.

He sighs deeply upon hearing the familiar ringtone, knowing it could entail anything from a world-ending cataclysm to another petty squabble. So he pauses his conversation with a Fortuna resident, saying, “Sorry, I gotta get this. Kids are calling.”

“Awww, and how have the orphans settled in?”

“Huh? No, my other kids.”

The Fortunan looks at him in confusion just as Nero finally picks up the call and starts pacing.

“What's up, dipshit?”

“Sounds like a you problem to me.”

“What? No, I won't talk to Vergil for you. What are you, five?”

“Look, you fucked yourself into that problem; you can fuck yourself out of it.”

Nero quickly drops the call and turns back to the person he was speaking to. “Sorry about that.” The resident only gives him a weird stink-eye, and Nero finally catches on to what's the issue. He coughs awkwardly and tries to smooth the situation, “Forty-year-old children, am I right?”

Depends on how common knowledge demons are. The Sparda's might be ‘ghostbusters’ as in the myth catchers for hire.

This is a different kind of question.

How do you feel comfortable writing self indulgent things? I want to write and draw my own things, I *desperately* want to feel loved by these characters, but every time I put pencil to paper, I feel like the creators - or worse, the characters themselves - are judging me; how dare I just assume that they would tolerate my presence, let alone want to hold me.

Sorry if this is a bit much, it’s just a curiosity I had to get off my chest.

Dante's Divine Comedy is considered one of the greatest pieces of world literature, and it is literally a self insert fanfic of Dante going through heaven and hell (all the people he hates are in hell btw) while his favourite historical poet looks after him. If he can do it, so can you.

I'm very much of the opinion that it doesn't matter if people are judging me for doing something I enjoy. Literally anything I do would probably be judged by someone, somewhere. I'd rather create, and fill my time with what makes me happy, than live my life according to the dogwater theoretical opinions of complete strangers.

I can't speak for the creators of the characters you want to write/draw about- however, I can speak for the characters themselves. They are fictional! They don't give a shit, they aren't real. They are figments of the imagination. You can make them like/dislike absolutely whoever you want. Personally, I love when people ship themselves with my characters. It feels like the biggest possible compliment.

Dante, Vergil and Nero with an Introvert S/O

Dante is a very talkative man. He doesn’t mind that his S/O is an introvert at all, he actually finds it cute and makes it his life mission to have you talk more. 

He will occasionally and unintentionally be annoying by asking them a thousand times if they’re okay because they’re naturally quiet.

Dante: Are you alright 

S/O: Yes

Dante: Really?

S/O:  Yes 

Dante: You sure?

S/O:  Yes,  I’m sure.

Dante: Oh you’re annoyed now.

S/O: No, Dante, I’m not. 

He will try to help them speak out more and he has good intentions, but it can be humiliating.

If they’re eating out or ordering something at a bar, their first instinct would be to let him talk. He always tries to get them to order. 

He may or may not intentionally ask for the most specific things to see them struggle.

S/O: Could I have a cappuccino please and uhm… a non-fat Frappucino with extra whipped cream?

Dante: Aren’t you forgetting something

S/O, blushing, looking at him and the Starbucks employee: And chocolate.

Dante, beaming: Good girl/Good boy.

He can be aggressive in his attempts, but he isn’t malicious. If he notices that they’re struggling too much he will intervene and save the day. 

Their introvertedness gives him a calm he’s not really used to, so he loves staring at them for no reason. 

Whever he sits at his desk and they’re nearby, he always leans on his hand and stares at them with a lovesick smile he can’t seem to brush off.

Overall, he’s a very supportive boyfriend and, while his methods can be brutal, they’re effective.

Vergil is introverted himself so he understands the struggles his S/O goes through. 

Talks with Vergil are usually short and essential, he’ll hardly ever start long conversations.

If he does, he prefers to be on the listening side of things so he’d ask about their interests or hobbies (he has discovered that his S/O gets very chatty when talking about their interests)

Vergil: You seem invested, what are you reading?

S/O: Nothing much, just a novel I picked up from the library this morning.

Vergil: Doesn’t look like nothing, you haven’t eaten all day.

S/O, closing the book: OKAY SO let me tell you all about it.

They proceed to talk his ear off for the rest of the day.

If anyone ever bothers his S/O about being too shy or quiet, Vergil will just stand behind them and glare at the person until they leave. 

Nobody messes with his S/O. Dante made that mistake once, almost got himself a one way ticket to Hell.

When planning dates, Vergil makes sure to let his S/O know when, how and where they’re going, in deep detail.

Vergil: Would you like to eat dinner with me at this new restaurant? The place is near that park you like, very quiet and reserved. There usually aren’t many people and the food seems to be delicious.

S/O, worrying about which clothes to wear: Okay

Vergil: I’ll pick you up at seven. I got you some clothes to wear this evening, if you’d like. 

Very caring boyfriend, even though he doesn’t really show it. 

Introvert approved.

Nobody really knows how Nero does it, but he reads his S/O’s mind.

Everytime they need something they just look at Nero and he’ll suddenly give it to them, no questions asked.

S/O staring at the cupboard: ...

Nero: hi there

S/O looks at him: ...

Nero opening the cupboard and grabbing their favourite mug: You’re welcome sweetheart.

He doesn’t exactly help them with their introvertedness to be honest. He acts like the extroverted boyfriend that fixes all the problems for their introverted S/O. 

This is only what it looks like to outsiders though. In reality Nero and his S/O talk a lot about their introvertedness and he tries to give them advices on how to handle things on their own.

S/O: I get uncomfortable around people because it’s like they’re staring and judging me. What if I say or do something wrong?

Nero: What if you say or do something right? Plus you don’t really know if they’re judging you or not.

S/O: … they look like they do?

Nero, softly flicking their forehead: You’re overthinking this. Besides, even if they were, you should let them. We both know you’re the best.

He often cups his S/O’s cheek and kisses them softly whenever they are feeling insecure. 

The day his S/O orders on their own instead of telling him what they’d like to eat, he’s overjoyed.

happy (late) wincest wednesday!! what do you think sam and dean's favourite books are? which books do you think they would have inexplicable (or explicable) beef with?

i'm sure after moving around twice a month for fifteen years and having to read the same books over and over again gave them a few rivalries, lol! -lizzy :)

ok i think they've both probably read a lot of classic lit and stuff from the literary canon because it's the kind of thing you can find anywhere, right? it's always available in some form or another, at school or in libraries or even just as movie adaptions.

based on vibes i really want to say dean's favorite book would be on the road, both for the metatextual nod to mister eric kripke and because i think dean would relate to it (well, obviously)—and the main character is dean too :) it's cute :) i also think he'd be really into westerns; the one i've read the most of is the titus bass series by terry c. johnston so while it's not quite what i imagine dean's tastes to be (too historically accurate, too little heroism) i'll go with that one. rough, gun-slinging action and lawless heroes are right up dean's alley. the trashier, the better.

on the other end of the spectrum, i see sam being quite into gothic literature. it's relatable to his feelings of exclusion and otherness, and like any child trapped inside a horrific queer narrative i think he would relate heavily to the monsters haunting the protagonists. i can see him really liking frankenstein especially, and i also definitely think he'd have a thing for kafka. it's horrible of me, but i also think he'd be drawn to rosemary's baby, imagining (subconsciously or not) his own mother as rosemary.

importantly, i think they'd both be most drawn to narratives they see themselves in, and i think they'd be rather disinterested in stories they can't directly relate back to their lives. as a result, they probably have a LOT of overlap in the books they enjoy, but the differences are marked and striking to an almost concerning degree. nevertheless i do think they've read through a great deal of the literary canon even if they don't personally love it, simply because it's what they can get their hands on. i can definitely see dean enjoying long, heroic epics like the iliad or beowulf, while sam has certainly read dante's divine comedy cover to cover (and of course, then they switch and read the other's pick, now hundreds of miles away from the library they stole the books from).

i really want them to have some kind of ongoing discourse about east of eden in particular, just because of HOW many similarities there are between cal/dean and aron/sam. i'm trying to figure out how to articulate the nature of that discourse (dean thinks it's just like them fr fr and sam insists it's not? the other way around, perhaps—though i can't see that as clearly. perhaps a simple debate as to whether it applies to them, or which generation they see themselves in most) but i really need to see something like that.

i think sam would definitely have petty beef with supernatural stories when they get the monster lore wrong. "we already KNOW what they do, how can you be THIS wrong about it???? open a book, dumbass," and the like. dean just thinks it's awesome no matter what (as long as the monsters are the bad guys) and they definitely bicker about it incessantly. on the flip side, dean would probably turn up his nose at gothic lit quite a bunch when the monsters are portrayed sympathetically (hello again frankenstein) and would, with his best Big Brother Voice, talk down to sam about the shit propaganda he's reading. sam in turn calls him an idiot in his best Little Brother Voice and doubles down on whatever he's reading. (naturally, the conflict here is that sam sees himself as the monster and therefore sympathizes with it, whereas dean sees "sympathetic monster" and shuts down entirely via john's unquestionable training. i can't imagine dean as a kid being able to comprehend the idea of sam viewing himself as wrong or bad in any way, so the thought of sam relating to the monster simply doesn't compute.)

i just. sometimes i think back about devil may cry again. and. damn. like dante and vergil barely got to be actual children, vergil's obsession with power comes from his insecurity about being supposedly unable to save his mum and dante and. they were so young, they should've been able to play around as kids and enjoy their childhood. the fact that both of them just. lost their parents so quickly and had to find their ways in this godforsaken world alone.

it's so interesting to me how dante uses his taunts to like. lower his anxiety. he runs through fights making jokes because he's always scared. and i'd go as far as saying that on the other hand, vergil is just scared for his brother. the whole "im better than you" thing? it's always read (to me) as "i gotta make you strong enough but also i gotta unlock all my power so i can protect everything i love" but just gone too far. like he's taken it really to an extreme, obviously, but i do think it started out as genuine fear that he wasn't enough. these men for real just need therapy. all of them need therapy someone get the dmc gang THERAPY.

OH. AND ANOTHER THING. THAT FINAL FUCKING FIGHT IN DMC3 BETWEEN VERGIL AND DANTE. i like to think it's always been dante trying to bring vergil back from "POWER". like the "we are the sons of sparda" part is very much a "fucking wake up and look around you can do so much better" and vergil is so far gone that genuinely his response is "our souls are at opposites, brother. i need more power." which is such a personality defining statement from him. But the part that hurts most? When Vergil cuts Dante's hand on his way down to hell. He reaches out for his brother.

AND OOH. BEFORE I FORGET. lady saying to nero (not an exact quote bc i cannoooooot remember it) "you'll never be able to recover from killing your dad don't do it" isn't just a "no dont do it nero". DMC3. SHE'S SPEAKING FROM EXPERIENCE. she knows what it's like to be in neros place on dmc5, and. i just feel like sometimes we look over lady and her past. she went through so much too, like imagine being like 16/17 (?) and having your dad be like "yeah holup lemme go open the gate to hell come here daughter lemme k word you so i can open the gate to hell" and have to actually go out and stop him. and like i guess even with dante and vergil there's an element of "oh they're half demon they. kinda. expect this shit in their lives" LADY ISN'T. she's 100% human and has been through so much.

and like when that's put in perspective, it really makes me enjoy the games more. like, growing up playing the games it was all "wahoo haha pizza haha motivated haha gun-trick-sword-trick-gun-trick" and now it's all "man. more of my favourite characters are just. traumatised people who have really gone through the worst shit ever."

anyway. ro lore dumps about devil may cry again. maybe if i get time mid coursework i'll add more lmao we'll see 😔
