I had thought for so long that Zoey’s original destiny was the same as Hyria’s, if only she hadn’t sacrificed her immortality. But…nevertheless…fate finds a way……

someone has totally already said this but I've been thinking about it nonstop so here I go,,,

so it's a popular aphmau fandom theory that the characters are predisposed to have similar things happen to them in most lifetimes/universes (aph getting into intense relationship drama, zane and garroth - plus vylad - being troubled brothers, travis getting possessed by a demon)

and if you think about it, dante's 'thing' is getting left behind while everyone goes on a big adventure and they come back different. in mcd, obviously, aph tells him to stay and watch over the village, and Dante waits for 15 years while aph's group is in the irene dimension. When they come back, they are scarred and dante is 15 years older. there is a rift between Dante and all his old friends.

but the thing I don't see many people talking about is how THIS REPEATS IN MYSTREET! everyone on the street (but laurance, however Dante ignores him) leaves to Starlight and tells him they'll be back in no time, just 3 weeks. And they end up getting locked down, hunted, controlled, everything. Dante sits on a deserted street just waiting for his friends to come home while he gets more and more stir-crazy.

That's just dante's fate, to be left behind, waiting, while his loved ones get themselves killed and changed.

In season 7, I would love for there to be Dante angst (FINALLY) around everyone leaving him and coming back different. Especially Travis, his best friend and roommate, coming back absolutely traumatized.

If you like this observation, I would recommend 'Meanwhile On Mystreet' which is a rly good ao3 fic about Dante, laurance and friends trying to keep themselves occupied while everyone is on Starlight during Season 6.

OP until you said “love love paradise” I fully thought you were talking about mcd season 1 and was in wholehearted support of young guard Dante growing a short-lived crush on the big shirtless tank that just kinda appeared one day and joined them

I like having dante be just head-over-heels for aaron in the first season simply because it makes the way they get into Love Love paradise so much funnier to me. There’s the accidental kiss, and while Aaron’s receiving the tickets or whatever dante is having an absolute Crisis; windowsshutdown.mp3, car crash sounds, etc. he’s deceased. Aaron doesn’t know what the hell’s wrong with him

i've finally finished my mystreet character lineup! these are all s1 designs for them that i made while rewatching <3 i stopped near the end of starlight cuz that's where i stopped when i watched the episodes as they were coming out (i have a problem finishing shows lol idk why)

i had very strong ideas of what face shapes/features i wanted all the characters to have... them all being squares strangly made my creative mind go wild lol, Aaron was the hardest because i am not very good at drawing masculine men ;-;

i am also a "Travis is an overly-confident short king" truther, i imagine Laurence complains that he doesn't get that many girls because hes like 5'8 or something but then Travis strolls up and is like "couldn't be me" lmao

Oh god I'm imagining Dante filling out paperwork at the Guard Academy and it asks for his name and he just pauses. Just stops entirely because some part of his mind knows it. Deep down it has to be there, somewhere. There's no way he really forgot it. But he did. There's nothing. Dante is nothing. Nobody. He doesn't fill out his last name. Anytime someone asks him he lies to them, tells them that he doesn't have one.

He tells this same lie to Aphmau, who doesn't bat an eye because she doesn't have a last name either (at least in my brain). They're one in the same. Suddenly his lack of last name is something Dante isn't so ashamed of because it's just like his lord. His lord that he admits is like a sister to him. They're two nobody's navigating this world side by side.

No longer does his lack of last name feel like an emptiness, it feels like home.

Until home leaves him again. Until everyone disappears and Dante is left standing at those gates.

Now his lack of last name feels even more unbearably empty than it ever has. Now it's a bitter reminder of both of the families he's lost. He thought he might take Nicole's last name when they were together. Dante Von Rosenberg has a nice ring to it, he thinks.

That doesn't happen either. At that point Dante's convinced he'll never have a last name. That's something Gene took from him that he'll never be able to get back. He just has to accept that no matter how much it hurts. That Gene succeeded in taking away somethig so important and Dante will never be able to recover.

...

And then Nana tells him she's pregnant. And then they get married. And now he does have a last name. Dante Ashida. It's never what he expected, but he loves Nana so much that it's perfect. Loves her so much that the idea of people identifying him by his love for her is an honor he deeply cherishes.

So I made a shitpost a bit ago about Gene and Dante just straight up not having a last name. But then I got to thinking. What if they did? Key word: Did

Imagine: Gene and Dante grow up with the last name of Dillion, meaning loyal or loyalty. I picked a name that meant loyal because loyalty is one of the few things the brothers have in common, Gene’s loyalty to Shad and Dante’s loyalty to Aphmau.

Anyway.. So Gene never tampered with Dante’s mind, and in their village, he was basically the only one. But after making the entire village forget Dante, including their parents, he made Dante forget their name. Just another way to remove Dante’s existence without actually offing him. Not only did he make Dante forget, but he made sure Dante knew he forgot. Meaning he’ll have to wonder for the rest of his life.

Gene himself disowned the name, completely detaching it from himself. To simply become Gene.
