#danse is like. Handling him.

I love how about halfway through Maxson's unclipped hysterical little monologue/rant in Blind Betrayal Danse basically just starts talking to him like he's a child. Soothing & even voice, calm and direct, keeps using his first name. It's genuinely my favorite part of the quest we should talk about it much more.

Dark Genderbend Cruella De Ville x Soft-Hearted! Reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In a dimly lit, luxurious office, Cruell paced back and forth, his soft bi-colored hair cascading over his shoulders.
His dark brown eyes, usually filled with mockery and disdain, now burned with pure anger from the fact that he is waiting for his new late secretary.
The door to the study creaked open, and you, a young, curious individual, stepped in.
The air filled with tension, as the fashion disgner's eyes locked on the you, like a predator sizing up its prey, ready to attack.
"You're late," Cruella growled, her voice a sultry, smoky whisper.
You flushed, nervously adjusting your clothing.
"I'm sorry, it was the traffic and I-"
"The Traffic? Really? you chose to use an elementary school excuse for your deliberate negligence, how pathetic."
His insult caused your eyes to glisten with tears, as his words were the straw that broke the camel's back for you today.
And under any stress, you break into tears, yet you try your hardest to hold it in fear of getting fired.
You have been told that in career fields nobody considers your feelings, and that you need to handle pressure if you wish to survive.
And Cruell seems like the perfect example to step on you without any care.
You gulped, feeling the weight of his disapproval, as you quickly plead with him.
"Please, Mr. De Vil, give me a chance to make it up to you, I'll work twice as hard to ensure everything is perfect for your next collection."
"You are danse in every way possible to think that I will allow a naive stupid girl like you near my work"
At his words, you break down completely.
"I'm sorry, I know I'm not the best... I will leave right now"
The fashion designer stays silent for a minute before smirking.
"I will give you a chance, but not to become my secretary, no, I want you for a much greater cause"
You wipe your tears before looking up at him with hope in your eyes and asking.
"What do you want me to do?"
"I want you to become my wife"
Your eyes widens in shock at his proposal.
"What if I don't want to become your wife, Mr. De Vil?" you ask with curiosity, not trying to tease him.
Cruell narrows his eyes at you, chuckling in disbelief.
"I will destroy your life and reputation to the point where nobody accepts you in work nor social life"
That's how you end up as the wife of the villainous fashion designer.

one summer day
Tumblr media
13 hello, tokyo. where you have a taste of domestic bliss with wakatoshi
<< 12 shoot for the stars. | >> 14 crescendo.
pairing: ushijima wakatoshi x reader word count: 1.8k warnings: dysfunctional parental relationship, y/n is on her period important announcement! one summer day is going on break for two weeks, part 14 will be released in 2-3 weeks, more details in a/n at the end of post
frustration, tears, and heartbreak was what it took for you to follow your heart.
your mother was unsupportive of your decision to attend music school instead of going to university and taking on a conventionally stable office job. you had tried to persuade her as best as you could, but every time the topic was brought up, it ended in a heated argument and insults hurled your way.
the last one was the worst, and you still remember each and every one of her parting words. “do whatever you want, y/n. i don’t have a daughter like you anyway.” the anger in her voice forever etched into your mind. she left for another business trip and you moved out before she returned, hurt and scorned.
it’s fine, it’s fine, it’s fine. when has she been your mom for the past eleven years anyway?
yes, you are going to paris in four months. paris, where Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris offered you a scholarship, the lighthouse on the dark seas guiding you to shore.
and yes, you are moving in with the man you are in love with. what a splendid idea. what could possibly go wrong?
ushijima had, in fact, gone ahead and signed the lease after getting your agreement that night, your request to discuss it beforehand gone unheard. you had panicked, expecting to decline it when you spoke next, and not knowing if you were able to afford the rent.
you recall him giving you an utterly confused look, telling you to not worry about that and that he would take care of it.
so you took it upon yourself to help out wherever you could, making sure he has a proper breakfast before leaving for practice and packing him a bento for lunch. the youtube videos you started watching to expand your available menu helping you curate a balanced and nutritious meal that is sometimes cute, if you had the extra time, courtesy of the food cutters you saw in a shop display one day.
his fingers would brush yours as he takes the knotted furoshiki makeshift handle from you, and you would pretend it does not make your poor heart skip a beat or two.
he had forgotten his food once in the three weeks that you had moved in together, and you had taken it upon yourself to make sure he received his lunch. you were denied entry to the training center, the receptionist mistaking you for a fan, but luckily, one of his teammates who was passing by helped you clear up the misunderstanding.
by the time you got to ushijima, you only had enough time to pull the wrapped bento out of your bag, telling him you would see him at home later, before you had to leave for your french language class that was on the other side of the city.
if you had a moment to spare, you would have seen his teammates tease him for landing such a supporting girlfriend. and his pink cheeks when he does not deny it.
this is the first time you are menstruating since moving to tokyo. the first day of your period is debilitating, to put it simply. there hasn’t been a bad episode in months, but you hadn’t taken in consideration the stress of moving, compounded with your newfound, very real, estrangement from your parents, so you are reaping the consequences today.
you had washed down a couple of pain medications before going about your day, which had been enough for the lighter aches in the recent months. apparently not this time, which is truly delightful to learn as the pain hits you like a train in the middle of class.
your lower back cramped throughout french class, extending down the back of your legs, and the pain in your abdomen stayed a steady dull throb. it took every ounce of your determination and concentration to listen to the lesson, scrawling down notes and ignoring the pain that seemed to take over whenever your mind wandered off.
you weren’t sure how you got through four hours of class, until it finally ended and you found yourself forcing your legs to the nearest convenience store for a strip of pain medication to tide you over until you get home.
the train ride home was no less grueling; the cushioned seats barely provided a hint of relief as you close your eyes and picture anything else but the constant pain intruding on your mind.
mercifully, the medication kicks in halfway home because by the time you close the door to your shared apartment and kick off your shoes in the entryway, the pain has quieted. your energy is drained from the day, however, having just enough to boil some water and pour it into your trusty rubber hot water bottle that is a staple for your periods.
just a quick shuteye, you decide, crawling onto the couch with the hot water bottle sandwiched between your back and the couch and letting your heavy eyelids drop. before you know it, the sound of the lock on the front door turning is stirring you from your sleep and the sun has made its way down the horizon.
“y/n?” a hand pushes back the hair covering your face, waking you up from your slumber that you didn’t realize you slipped into again in the short few minutes. an incoherent noise coming from you as you try to resist the consciousness that slowly floods your mind.
you open your eyes to a frowning wakatoshi. “toshi, you’re home?”
a nod, “have you had dinner yet? it’s late.”
“‘m not hungry, toshi.” you mumble, suddenly remembering the state of the apartment you left it in, your shoes and bag strewn about the hallway.
“you didn’t reply to my texts, but i got you something to eat just in case.” he holds up a takeout bag. right, he had dinner plans with his teammates after practice. the pain had you in its grip so much that you didn’t even check your phone today.
“sorry, i had a rather long day. ‘m just so tired.”
“okay, the food’s in the fridge if you want it.” he calls from the kitchen. you utter your thanks from your fetal position on the couch, head nestled into the cushions before you let sleep pull you under once again.
you feel like no time has passed between then and now as wakatoshi gently rouses you from your sleep, his damp hair sticking to his forehead, having just showered. “go sleep in your room.”
“don’t wanna,” you pout, feeling needy for once around him, spurred on by your cycle. “the wall is cold, and the couch isn’t.”
his eyes soften at you as he checks the temperature of your hot water bottle. “wait here, i’m gonna refill the hot water for you.”
“not going anywhere, toshi,” you call out, can’t help but admire the corded muscles on his figure as he walks away. you cast your eyes to the singular artwork adorning the living room that you picked up together a week ago as he turns around, hoping he didn’t catch you staring in your moment of weakness.
you could feel the intensity of his gaze on you, so you keep your eyes trained on the paintbrush swirls mimicking the crashing waves onto rock. and you keep pretending like he doesn’t already hold your heart in his hands.
you are becoming greedier when it comes to wakatoshi, constantly battling your innermost desires to touch him and hold him, confess your deepest love to him, particularly since you moved in with him. unfortunately, fate has other plans in mind for you, and it would be unfair to him, and you, to act on those desires when you know you are not staying.
“you planning on sleeping on the couch tonight?” his voice breaks you from your thoughts. the voice that soothed your anxiety, that you grew to love.
you nod. “good ni– what are you doing?” you yelp, arms wrapping around his neck in a feeble attempt for self preservation when he scoops you into his arms with minimal effort while balancing the hot water bottle in one hand.
he looks down at you, arching an eyebrow. “the couch is not good for sleeping.”
“i told you, i don’t wanna sleep against the wall tonight,” you squawk indignantly as he walks you towards your room. you try your damndest to ignore the hard muscle on his shoulders that you are holding on to unnecessarily. and the heart that is beating out of your chest.
you have always loved him, but this feels different. an unfamiliar burning in your gut that makes you want to claw at him–and yourself for wanting to do so.
“you’re not,” he says simply, and you find yourself speechless as he pushes his door open.
huh? there is a deafening sound in your head. you realize belatedly that it is your conscious mind screaming internally as he gingerly sets you down on his bed and climbs into the same bed after you. HUH?
you are still rendered wordless when he pulls you into his arms, using his body to prop the hot water bottle up against your aching back. your entire face burns hot as reality sets in that you are in bed, snuggled against the man you love, spooning like lovers.
this is not fair. not fair that he is pulling all these feelings and reactions out of you without even trying to. you are sure your brain is going to turn into mush come morning, unable to comprehend the situation you are in, more like his arms that are cradling you close to his body, alleviating the pain in your back and legs.
you squirm a little in his hold, feeling the stomach cramps returning, your ass brushing against something hard. recognition dawns on you, and you aren’t sure if you can turn any redder than you already are. “sorry, my stomach cramps are back.”
he only flattens his hand against your belly in response, his large palm emanating heat, calming the cramps slowly. you would be lying if you said it didn’t kindle another type of heat in your stomach. a flame that would consume both of you in its blaze if you’re not careful.
“better?” he asks thickly, the word brushing your ear from your proximity. you can only give him a quick nod, your brain failing to form words in your throat.
you are going to faint before you can fall asleep, you think.
thankfully, exhaustion takes over, smoldering the flames in your belly and the blush in your cheeks, and slowly lulls you to the long-awaited painless rest. you feel a fullness in your chest born from wakatoshi’s care for you as you doze off, safe in his arms, and you wonder if this is what could have been if you had more time.
you wonder if this could be forever in another life.

day 9, size difference
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
paladin danse x reader warnings: nsfw 18+, from danse's pov, mentions of riding & blowjobs, no dialogue, mentions of reader's breasts kinktober ☠︎︎ main masterlist ☠︎︎ read on ao3
Danse was a hulking figure, and he knew that. His power armor helped, of course, but even out of it, he towered over his peers. He towered over you.
You stood tall in your own ways. You were a leader in every sense of the word. When you defended him against Arthur’s rage, he swore you were eight feet tall.
Danse loved how small you were, physically, compared to him. It was cliché, but he loved to hold your hand against his, taking in the difference. He also loved the difference in a more selfish way. His size made him feel like he could protect you, even if you were perfectly capable of handling yourself. You’d proven that time and time again.
In a more intimate setting, he loved towering over you and bending your smaller frame however he liked. His favorite was to have you under him, legs pushed up so they were nearly over his shoulders, taking his thick cock like you were made for him.
He loved watching you squirm as he pushed inside you. You were so good for him. He was nearly drooling as your tight hole swallowed him inch by stimulating inch. Just when he thought he couldn’t possibly fit another centimeter inside you, he was buried completely. He was gentle, most of the time. He knew he had to be and he didn’t want to hurt you. Other times, however, he’d lose himself and get so wrapped up inside you that he couldn’t contain himself. He’d bury himself to the hilt over and over again, the tip of his length brushing up against that sensitive spot over and over again.
He’d apologize profusely when he saw you wincing as you rose from bed. He wasn’t a monster, and beneath his rough exterior, he cared for you. It’d gnaw at him for ages afterward, and he’d be terrified to touch you. You’d coax him back into your bed when you were ready and convince him that you’d speak up if you were hurting.
In your not-so-rare moments of boldness, he loved when you rode him. He couldn’t keep his eyes off of you as you slowly sunk down his cock, bottom lip tucked between your teeth as you focused on taking every single inch of him. Large hands palmed your breasts as you began bouncing up and down on his cock. When your thrusts became sloppy or you slowed down, he was quick to grab your hips and rut into you from below. He loved seeing you become a whining, cockdrunk mess as he took what he needed. If he was feeling particularly nice, he’d grab the globes of your ass and help guide you up and down on his cock. He loved watching your tits bounce as you leaned back and let him move your body how he wanted.
He loved it when you jerked him off, your small hand barely wrapping around his length as you stroked him. You quickly made up for it by using both hands to milk his cock or using one hand to stroke what your mouth couldn’t reach. Fuck, he loved that mouth of yours. He loved the way you gagged around him when you tried to take all of him. Trying to be so good for him.
You were always good for him, in any way he could get you. He thanked whatever omnipotent being was out there that he was lucky enough to spend even a second with you. He loved enveloping you in his arms when he held you at night. He loved the way it felt like he was keeping you safe in a world that was hell-bent on killing you at any waking moment. He loved that he could provide that solace for you.

relationship hcs — danse
a/n: yes fo4 in the lords year of 2023 bc i clearly havent gotten over this man in 8 years! 😀
Tumblr media
(nsfw below cut!)
★ ! sfw
danse is an incredibly layered character - it would take him particularly long to develop feelings for someone and even longer for him to actually realize he's falling in love
even when he can't help but finally acknowledge the strange feeling in his chest everytime he's around you, he would most likely still play it off
because he's so inexperienced with relationships, even friendships, he believes he's simply grateful to you for sparing his life
it's tough for him to express this gratitude with words early on, but even then he always has this burning desire to simply do things for you?
whether that's improving or polishing your weapons while you're asleep or organizing your desk when you're gone
all he knows is that he wants to be close to you, to protect you, to serve you - after all, you were the one that gave his life purpose after he left the brotherhood
it's only when one of your mutual friends starts teasing him about it that he questions his feelings further - and it's like a switch flips in his brain
all of a sudden he can't look you in the eyes anymore
he gets so flustered and overwhelmed by these new emotions, convinced it must be inappropriate for him to be feeling this way
when you stand a little too close to him his brain short-circuits, his breathing becomes unsteady and all he can think about is how much he wants you even closer to him
he does awkward pauses and clears his throat a lot when you're talking
obviously, he's terrified of losing you - or worse, scaring you away - so he wouldn't ever be the one to make a move, no matter how much the emotions in his stomach threaten to boil over
so when you finally pick up on it - it's actually not that difficult, he's kind of obvious - he'd be so, so relieved at you taking the lead
when your feelings are out in the open and he grows used to the change in relationship, there's a lot of inconspicuous flirting and delicate teasing
he finds out that he really, really likes kissing you (it's even better in reality than what he dreamed it would be)
whenever your lips find his and your hands his chin and neck, his heart feels like it's melting in his chest
even though his hands are rough, all his touches are so, so soft, so loving - a stark contrast to the image of the soldier he used to be
he handles you like a piece of fine china, afraid you could break and leave him behind all by himself
danse finds purpose and joy in your happiness, your love - emotions he was scared would stay forever lost
★ ! nsfw
ngl i headcanon danse as demisexual with medium to low drive to be physically intimate
he's not familiar with intimacy, and only after he falls head over heels and has his first experiences with you does he realize how rewarding it can be
his focus lies on your pleasure first and foremost, always, he's absolutely more on the giving end
he loves watching your face while his fingers play with you, he loves hearing you, feeling your body shift in his lap
he's so mesmerized by everything about you that his heart threatens to burst out of his chest every time he hears your soft moans
really, there's little in the world that gives danse the same satisfaction as making you cum
not much dirty talk, he prefers to whisper soft praises down the side of your neck every once in a while
despite everything he can be somewhat of a tease sometimes - the only time he'll enjoy having any kind of power over you
always takes such good care of you after and holds you in his arms while you drift off to sleep

Fallout Guys reacting to their crush Sole who has been traveling with them for awhile, and know each other like two peas in a pod, suddenly saying that they'll need to part ways for a little bit as there's something that they have to face alone. They promise they'll be back as soon as they find what they're looking for. A week passes and they return with a couple of items they picked up and gifts them as they apologize for leaving but they needed time to process. When they ask what they're trying to process, Sole says, "That I'm allowed to love you." As it turns out, they liked him too but was struggling with what their late spouse would think. Ultimately they decided that they'd want them to be happy.
》Ooh, I love this. Also, looking down the list I think they would feel conflicted about it as well. Extremely my shit.
Tumblr media
【Danse】 "Are you sure?"
There is a certain self-loathing he has after Blind Betrayal that leaves him lost. Through all of it you pushed him better footing and he was doing so well. Then you dropped that on him. It takes a conversation to teach him it's also okay for him.
【Deacon】 "Of course it is. Have you seen me?"
Like always, he hides behind false bravado. He panics and tries to shift the focus to the idea you were bound to fall in love with his dashing rogue persona. Of course that doesn't work when he sees your face, like you're about to cry.
【Hancock】 "Took you long enough."
He had absolutely no idea you felt the same and he himself was feeling insecure about staying by your side with his love. You lost your spouse and here he was wanting that from you. But now that you told him you do as well he's over the moon.
【MacCready】 "Then I guess I am too."
He was in the same boat. Lucy only died a few years back, and to you Nate/Nora died less than a year ago. He was so caught up in figuring out if it was appropriate to love you he missed very obvious signs you were throwing.
【Nick】 "Lucky me."
He didn't particularly grieve Jenny, not in the way you grieved Nate/Nora, didn't have the direction to. He never thought to consider Jenny's feelings in his life. Somehow that made him feel better. You wanted him, and he wasn't the man from 200 years ago. You weren't a haunting shadow or clearly mistaken.
【Preston】 "I'm sure he/she would want you to be happy."
The idea of your late spouse made him feel conflicted from the start. You didn't seem to want to let go so he left it alone and refrained from asking. Because of that this came at him from a bit of left field. But who was he to say what they would feel about it or how you should handle it.
【X6-88】 "I see."
He did not see. To be blunt, Nate/Nora was dead, their permission was not needed. Even if they were alive you could ignore their wishes. Who would say no to you? Not him. But for you he'll sugarcoat it. It's not like he dislikes the news it comes with.

“it’s a common notion!”
game: fallout 4
characters: paladin danse, arthur maxson
summary: he gets a little jealous seeing someone else be interested in you the same way he is. he starts to wonder if it’s a common occurrence for you.
warnings: g/n! reader, they/them pronouns used, reader isn’t sole but you can read it as if they were, jealousy,
↣ paladin danse
“knight.”
you glance up from your seated position to see your sponsor, power armour and all, watching over you. “paladin danse. how was your search in lexington? find anything useful?”
“yes. recovered some brotherhood weapons and holotags for captain kells,” he explains to you as he watches you take your hands off the scribe in front of you, “what have you been doing since i left the prydwen?”
you think it was pretty obvious with how proctor cade has you running a mock infirmary in the armoury bay. you were given a white coat to show people you were acting as a second doctor to cade. the bay was filled with tens of soldiers who came back for a fight with the institute at a hold-out spot in the commonwealth, all injured and most near to death. cade’s office was packed and you offered your help since you worked closely with him a few times.
“are you blind, paladin?” you mumble out in a joking matter. danse shows a slightly embarrassed look. but you smile at him. “the most recent outpost the brotherhood established was overrun by synths. proctor cade cannot tend to all of these soldiers.”
“right…” he grumbles off as you turn back to scribe in front of you.
you hold his hand, wiping the blood off his palm and trying to clean his cut. he winces, but the obvious blush that patterns his pale cheeks is obvious. he cannot stop looking at you.
“i… i have some injuries i’d like you to look at,” danse suddenly speaks up. you look up at him from your seated position. “i know cade is busy.”
“oh, well, i’m also a bit preoccupied too, paladin,” you say and finish wrapping the scribe’s hand, “is it urgent? how badly does it hurt?”
“a ten,” he says without hesitation. you stare at him with a raised brow. “i, uh… just come see me when you have the time.”
you go to respond when proctor cade comes into the armoury in a hurry. his sleeves are tugged up to his elbows and he has dried blood on his fingertips. his eyes meet yours and he hurries over.
“thank you, knight y/n, i appreciate all your help,” he sincerely says. you finish off the bandages before sending the scribe off. he does so reluctantly and shakes your hand for a bit too long for danse’s liking. “i can handle the rest of the soldiers here. you need to get some rest yourself; elder maxson said that you had a tiring mission this morning.”
“are you sure, proctor?” you ask as you stand up. there were still a lot of patients here, albeit you had dealt with the more serious cases. many of the ones left were just injuries. “i can stay for another hour.”
danse stands behind you. cade, looking between the both of you, notices the paladin’s slightly furrowed brows. he only nods.
“yes, knight, do not worry. i’ve been the doctor on this ship for as long as i can remember, i know a thing or two,” he says to you. you nod your head and wipe off the blood on your own hands. “thank you for your help. i’m sure maxson is also grateful for your actions. now, go rest.”
you put the coat down on the box you were sitting on and take out the supplies from your pockets. the medkit was given to cade before you turned to danse.
“okay, leave your power armour here and i’ll meet you at your room.” you tell him. danse agrees and moves carefully around the patients to take off his armour.
as he removes it, the same scribe from before approaches him.
“paladin danse?” he mutters out quietly.
“yes, soldier?” danse replies, head held up tall.
“i wanted to say… thank you for teaching y/n the way of the brotherhood,” the scribe says to danse. his cheeks are tinted red and he plays with his fingers nervously. “they’re an incredible soldier, and they’re so nice… i admire them quite a lot—”
“that is ‘knight y/n’, scribe,” danse interrupts with a harsh tone. the scribe jumps a little at his words, and he slowly nods. “they are just doing their job, as they are ordered to.”
the scribe looks to the ground for a moment, a bit upset. danse feels like he should be apologetic, but he isn’t. he only keeps his stoic look on his face.
“right… i apologise, paladin danse, i did not mean to overstep my boundaries,” the scribe salutes to danse before looking away, “thank you, and knight y/n.”
danse lets the scribe go in silence.
“be easy on the kid, danse,” cade speaks up as he grabs some stimpacks from the box against the wall. danse turns his head to look at him. “it’s just a lil’ crush. knight y/n saved a lot of these soldiers, who wouldn’t be compelled to think about them?”
danse is quiet as he ponders the question. proctor cade goes to do his work as danse moves to his room.
he opens the door quietly to see you sleeping on his bed. your outer layer was taken off, jacket strewn on his desk and you laid on his bed, silently breathing. danse closes the door behind him and unzips the back of his uniform as quietly as he can without disturbing you.
truth be told, he wasn’t injured at all. his retrieval mission went as smooth as humanly possible, so he didn’t need to have anything looked over. he just wanted your attention on him.
he changes into a comfortable shirt and sweatpants before locking the door. it would be heinous is anyone caught you two together in his quarters. you yourself were in a tank top and your pants from your gear, shoes set by the bed. you looked peaceful.
danse sits on the bed as he stares at you.
cade had him thinking; did lots of people have a thing for you? if yes, then how many?
he feels as if it’s childish to wonder such a thing, but he couldn’t help himself. you were an intoxicating thought that clouded his mind.
he thinks that maybe you heard his thoughts, because you suddenly stir and turn around, now facing him. your eyes flutter open and danse feels his face heat up at how you look at him.
“ah, sorry,” you say and start sitting up and wiping your eyes, “i’m exhausted—”
danse leans forward and wraps an arm around your shoulders. he tugs you close before he lays down on the bed. his thin blanket is pulled on top of the both of you. your face is smushed against his chest and your hands press against his upper stomach, trapped.
“get some rest,” he tells you.
“danse…?” you murmur against his skin. he shivers. “what’s going on with you today? i don’t see any injuries.”
he doesn’t say anything in response at first, utterly embarrassed by how he’s acting. he would never tell off a scribe for something like that. perhaps he should apologise when he finds the time.
but for now, danse kisses the crown of tour forehead.
“nothing, soldier,” he sighs out quietly as he closes his eyes. he can feel your hands slowly circle around his waist before you tug him closer, “i was just concerned, is all.”
“i’m okay, danse,” you respond, “you didn’t have to lie.”
“i’m sorry…”
“it’s fine. let’s just sleep now.”
he keeps his eyes open for a bit longer, which prompts you to sigh and lift yourself up. he watches as you plant a kiss to his lips, gentle enough to try and lure him to sleep. he relaxed into you in seconds.
“just talk to me later.” you tell him with a small smile.
he manages to doze off not long after you. the whole entire time, he thinks about how the scribe is right — you are an amazing soldier, and you have the biggest heart. that’s why he fell in love with you.
could he really blame anyone else for doing the same?
↣ arthur maxson
he’s on the ground for a change as he decided he should accompany you on your next task: training the new initiates.
“keep your hands steady,” you say as you watch them attempt to shoot the glass bottles on the boxes. most shots miss. “and don’t hold your breath for so long. you want to pass out in front of the enemy?”
“no, knight-captain!” a call is heard from the firing team.
“i want to see a smashed bottle from each of you,” you say with crossed arms. you watch from the sidelines and see how confident they are with a weapon — which isn’t that much. “we aren’t moving on until we get a clean shot from each of you.”
elder maxson had taken it upon himself to come and watch how you trained them, and he’s impressed. you’re not bad at it, just the right mixture of tough and encouraging. however, he thinks maybe he should’ve asked someone else to do this.
“well done, initiate frieda,” you say as you walk behind her. she lowers her gun and looks back to you, big doe eyes. she was shorter than you and her eyes seemed like the glossiest thing in the world. “you’ll be a sharpshooter in no time. i’m impressed.”
maxson clenches his hands around his bicep. he's let you train initiates before. did you always act so friendly with them? no, you weren't even acting friendly, you were being... genuinely nice. it made maxson wonder how you survived out there.
as you continue to help the other initiates, the girl turns to her friend beside her and begins to squeal quietly.
“did you hear that? knight y/n likes me!” she giggles out, unaware of the looming presence behind her. her friend goes wide eyed before going back to shooting. “i hope i’m on their team when we’re ready for the field, they’re so nice and so pretty—”
“shoot initiate dina’s bottle, soldier.”
frieda slowly looks back behind her to see elder maxson’s glaring eyes. his presence shook her and made the poor girl panic. her laser pistol shoot in her hands before she gulped.
“y—yes, elder maxson, sir!” she replies loudly.
that grabs your attention. you stop mid-sentence as you were talking to another initiate. looking to see the commotion, you’re surprised when you get the scene of maxson standing a foot away from the initiate you had complimented, looking about as mad as ever. you let out a small sigh.
initiate frieda shakily aims at her friend’s bottle. it isn’t a surprise when she misses by a long shot. that makes her friend and all the other initiates, who witnessed you compliment the girl, cringe in fear. the girl swallows the lump of nervousness and carefully lowers her gun.
“if you cannot shoot the target on demand, or under any pressure at all, you are not a suitable candidate for not only the brotherhood, but for knight y/n’a team,” elder maxson’s booming voice reaches across the whole training ground. the initiate looks as if she’s about to cry. but the leader doesn’t let up. “their team is only filled with the ones i deem the best. if you wish to be chosen for such a task, you must work very hard.”
“yes, elder maxson.” initiate frieda mumbles. she wanted to shrivel up.
“and if i may give you a word for advice,” his voice goes quieter, but his glare is harsher. she feels like she’s seen a ghost. “keep you focus on the brotherhood’s goal of freeing the commonwealth. i assure you, knight y/n does not have the time or the interest in someone like you, the way you do for them.”
she’s silent for a moment before she nods her head. elder maxson lifts himself up high again before looking around to the older soldiers.
"take this as a warning to all of you," he shouts as he begins to march. you have to hold back from rolling your eyes. "the brotherhood is now your whole life. you have no time to think of anything other than the good of the commonwealth. if you have joined for any alterior motives," he takes the time to look at you up and down. you don't know whether to be offended or not. "it's best if you leave now while you still can."
the initiates are quiet before they call out a 'yes, sir!' to him. going back to their training, most of them are scared out of their minds. but frieda especially; all she even did was call you pretty.
"elder, may i speak with you for a moment?" you question with a clenched jaw. he stares at you and, without even confirmation, you grab the fur of his jacket and begin dragging him around the corner of a building. you turn back to the eavesdropping initiates. "continue your shooting. when i come back, i do not want to see a single bottle left standing. knight rhys, make sure no one is cheating!"
the knight standing to the side on watch duty at the airport perks up at his name. with a silent groan, he nods his head. he turns to face the initiates and calls out to them to begin. laser shooting fills your ears before you hide behind the corner with maxson.
"arthur!" you grumble out with furrowed brows. he raises a brow at you. "what are you doing? i told you that you could come and watch if it meant you were quiet and didn't scare off my initiates more than you needed to!"
he crosses his arms over his chest as if to show you that he was pissed off as well. you rest your hand on your hip.
"you need to get your initiates in check. you cannot have them thinking this way about you," he tells you with a shake of his head, "not only will they be fawning over you all the time instead of doing brotherhood work, they will be distracted on the battlefield. careless lives will be lost, knight."
"what are you even—arthur," you sigh as you rub your temple. it's not like he was wrong, you needed to whip them into shape, but it was so early. "this is my second lesson with these initiates. give me a week and i'll have soldiers. just... you need to calm down a bit. what happened?"
he holds back from telling you. maxson was only slightly above admitting that he was wrong, but he'd be damned if he had to admit this to you. the crease between his brows becomes more defined.
"initiate frieda will be under knight wagner's supervision. i don't believe she would be an asset to you."
"shouldn't i have a say in that, elder?" you inquire as you raised a brow, "she is becoming a good shooter, and she gets along well with other brotherhood soldiers. not only that, but she got the highest agility score on the first day. i'd say she is an acceptable candidate for my team."
maxson rolls his eyes at you. your eye twitches at his behaviour.
"arthur, seriously," you exhale slowly and take his gloved hand in yours. he finally drops his arms from his chest and slowly relaxes his shoulders. "what's wrong? you've never been so hostile towards an initiate before."
it takes him a moment to gather up the courage to tell you anything, but soon enough he does.
"it would seem that these new initiates have taken a liking to you," he admits, "and i... i don't intend on letting that go any further."
your heart melts at his words before you let the smile you were holding back now take over your face. it’s a little funny, which makes you cover your face with your free hand. maxson’s brow twitches at your reaction.
“alright, that’s enough, knight,” he scoffs at you. he yanks his hand out of yours and massages the back of his neck. “don’t coddle them, is my point. you have to be their commander, not their crush-magnet.”
“‘crush-magnet’? what are you, 12?” you joke with a hearty laugh. that makes his face turn pink with embarrassment. “it’s okay, arthur. i’ll make sure to keep them in line.”
he looks at your face a little longer before he nods his head. you smile again as he rests a hand on your shoulder. he’s always been sheepish when it comes to any form of affection towards you, even if it was just some kind words. you let him come closer to you and soon press a kiss to your cheek. an arm comes around to hold your waist and he sinks against you.
“captain y/n, they’ve successfully—” knight rhys comes around the corner to interrupt, only he widens his eyes at the scene. he stops on his tracks and clears his throat. maxson is quick to remove himself from you and you rake a step away from him. “ah, i apologise, i—i didn’t, uh… excuse me, but the initiates have cleared all the bottles.”
“thank you, rhys,” you say as you nod your head, “i’ll take it from here.”
he nods his head and walks away while rubbing his ear. you glance to maxson before you stretch your arms.
“okay, i have to get back to work,” you say as you straighten your jacket. maxson runs fingers through his hair and fixes his own overcoat too. “now if you’re going to stay, you need to keep quiet, arthur. they need to be scared of me too. the way you look at people is already enough to make them shit their pants.”
“alright, knight, i will still supervise.” he replies.
you flash him one last sweet smile before he hears you call out an order for combat training as you turn the corner. he stands there for a few seconds longer.
he’d have to get over the fact that you were as amazing to him as you were to others.

FO4 Companions React to a Blind!Sole
Sole being blind Pre-war (TW for Ableism)
I've never written one of these before, but my most recent  Sole is blind so I thought I'd put my idea of how I think the companions would react.
Cait: Doesn't believe that Sole is blind at first. They're too good of a shot, too aware of what's going on to be blind. But she notices that Sole does struggle with things those with sight wouldn't even bat an eye at. They often face the wrong way when being told to read something, they also are terrible at keeping watch. She at first is mad that she has to "pick up the slack" but she quickly gets over it after Sole treats her with kindness and understanding. Doesn't take long for her to stand up for Sole in every situation.
Codsworth: Sole's blindness was something that he got used to not long after being purchased. As a Mr. Handy, he has software that allows him to assist those who are disabled. It never affected how Sole treated him, nor his perception of them. In the post war setting, with the world being so different from what Sole remembers, he tries to assist in even more ways than he used to. Going with Sole to Concord for example, or at least wanting to when they denied his request. He doesn't treat Sole any differently from before, and tries not to handle them with kid gloves knowing how much they hate that.
Curie: Sees Sole as a curiosity. At first she often tries to run little tests to figure out the severity of their blindness and the extent of their capabilities. She's a doctor, she wants to know the extent of their blindness and what she can do to potentially assist. That being said, after being called out she knocks it off and switches her focus on listening to Sole and what they want. She wants to be helpful, unaware of how condescending she can be at times.
Deacon: Thinks Sole is extremely interesting from the moment he sees them the first time. Their ability to get around without much trouble and handle the wasteland without sight is fascinating. He appreciates that Sole can't see him following them around, and when Sole comes around to get the courser chip decoded he still vouches for them. Still, due to the nature of the Railroad and the fact they use road signs and need to keep an eye out he worries Sole won't be a good agent. He doesn't want to risk any synth getting caught or hurt because Sole didn't notice the danger. Overall he respects Sole, but thinks Sole is best on Railroad jobs with him or Glory by their side. He does get annoyed that their PipBoy has voice to text on, as it gives them away when sneaking but he can look past that.
Danse: The fact that a citizen came in guns blazing to save him and his squad got his respect, but once he noticed their blindness he instantly feels like Sole is a liability. People being blind wasn't the most uncommon thing in the brotherhood, but those who were blind often weren't allowed on the field anymore. More often than not they were asked to more or less retire to not put their teammates at risk. He tries to tactfully get Sole to leave, but he knows he needs the extra firepower to get the transmitter. He appreciates the help but is wary about sponsoring them even if they proved their capabilities. After becoming his newest charge, he acts like they are the same as any recruit. That being said, it takes him a long time to not handle Sole like a helpless child. He knows Sole can handle themselves, but he can't help but treat them a little differently. It takes being pulled aside and called out before he realizes he's even doing that, and he apologizes and tries his hardest to knock it off.
Dogmeat: Confused at first but he's a good smart boy. Happy to be Sole's eyes instead.
Hancock: At first, he thought Sole was just a cold, badass bitch. No reaction to a man being stabbed in front of them, AND no reaction to him being a ghoul? But the realization hit him quickly after, and he didn't know how to feel. Sole was clearly street smart enough to not be taken advantage of, but that didn't mean people didn't suck. Honestly, if anyone belonged in the town full of misfits who look out for each other, it was Sole. He treats them like they treat him, like a person that is just like everyone else. He is guilty of subtly moving things out of Sole's way or tapping them so they face the right direction, but it's never really noticeable. It's similar to moving something out of someone's way when they are distracted or tapping someone's shoulder to get their attention.
Maccready: He assumed that he was being hired to be a bodyguard. After all, being blind in the wastes was not easy and they'd need protection. Didn't take long for him to realize Sole is a damn good shot and is able to take care of themself. He deduces that Sole hired him not as a bodyguard, but as a companion, someone who was company on the road so they had someone to talk to. And if he just so happened to notice if someone was trying to rip Sole off he'd be able to call them out. He doesn't treat Sole any differently, before or after his quest. Before, they're his employer he's not saying shit and after they're his friend and he's not going to risk that relationship.
Nick: He knew something was up the moment Sole didn't even slightly react to his appearance. Didn't panic seeing him, nor asked what his deal was. The fact they were able to get him out without being able to see, using a terminal and all got his respect. But he was still nervous that a blind person was using a gun, or he was until by some miracle Sole landed at least 6 head-shots in a row. Once being free, the interview to try and find Shaun was difficult. No physical characteristics to go on, the guess that it was Kellogg was honestly just lucky. Regardless, Sole treated Nick like a person from the moment they met, and he'd be lying that it wasn't nice to just be seen as normal. It's only fair he returns the favor.
Piper: Sole was already extremely interesting to Piper, but add on the fact they can't see and she's instantly more interested. What's life in the Commonwealth like if you can't see it? What was life like before the bombs? How do you use your weapon so effectively? She overcompensates for Sole's lack of sight by being reckless, especially when they first travel together. She probably forgets often that Sole is blind, often being like "Hey did you see that Blue?" And then remembering and apologizing. She does get better with time, and definitely publishes papers calling out people/businesses who try to take advantage of Sole. Any papers in the Publick that Sole is in she reads out loud to them.
Preston: He's just relieved that someone came to help them in the Museum. He couldn’t give a shit that Sole is blind, he cares that they're willing to help. The only hiccup is getting the fusion core in the basement since Sturges can't get it and Sole can't get it either. They offer to try and are lucky enough to get it first try and grab the fusion core. After meeting back at Sanctuary he opts to not mention it as it's none of his business. By the time he feels comfortable enough around Sole to ask about it, they're friends and he doesn't want them to be uncomfortable so he never brings it up. He's the type to gently point Sole in the right direction if they're looking the wrong way in conversions or moving stuff out of the way if they might trip on them. He also makes sure that Sanctuary and the Castle are as consistent as possible so that Sole has an easier time navigating them.
Strong: does not appreciate the puny human not being able to see. How can they help him find the milk of human kindness if they can't even see it? He sees Soul as a weakling and refuses to travel with them.
X6: Doesn't care that Sole is Father's parent, Sole is a liability and cannot handle themself as well as a person with sight can. He doesn't like being paired with Sole.
Old Longfellow: Honestly he kind of envies them. They never have to see the horrors of the fog like he has. But he's aware that one day he might lose his sight too. Besides, the thickness of the fog even having sight isn't much of an advantage. He helps Sole the same way he helps all travelers to Acadia, with the added bonus that Sole can defend themselves.
Gage: Helps sole at first because he can't tell they can't see, instantly turns on them after they become overboss due to blindness being a weakness.

How would fo4 companions react to sole introducing them to their boyfriend Porter Gage?
Fo4 Companions Reactions To Sole Introducing Gage As Their Boyfriend
➼ Word Count » 1.2k ➼ Warnings » none ➼ Genre » platonic
MacCready will grimace but try to smile for your sake. It’s clear he’s not genuine with any nice thing he says but he does try to seem excited. After a minute he'll ask if he can talk with you in private and ultimately tells you that it's not worth it. He's been with the Gunners long enough to know that Raiders aren't any better. He knows from experience that you don't want to be caught up in all that and will plead with you to understand how awful your boyfriend is. It's your life at the end of the day, and he'll stick around with you regardless, just know that his vote is on you two splitting... and you're not going to be let around Duncan until Gage is out of the picture.
Nick will just stare at Gage when you first bring him into the Agency. After an uncomfortable amount of time passes, he'll sigh and ask if he can talk to your boyfriend alone. He'll sit him down at his desk and ask him to interview him, wanting to get a handle on his character before he jumps to any assumptions. However, since he's Gage, he fails almost every question on Nick's test, which makes the detective increasingly more disappointed in your taste in men. Later in the day, he'll offer to walk with you around Diamond City to tell you how he disapproves of the relationship. You've done countless cases together where you take down guys just like him. Is that really the future you want for yourself?
Cait is completely against it and will be very vocal about it. She’ll grip her bat that’s slung over her shoulders and sneer at the raider standing beside you in disgust. She knows exactly what kind of person he is and will demand outright that you break up with him. She cares for you, and she won’t let you ruin yourself with this guy. However, if Gage starts arguing with her, she'll swing at him so quickly. There's not a universe where these two ever get along with each other. It's best you don't introduce the two at all.
Out of all the good men in the Brotherhood, you chose him? Danse is not only confused but disgusted that you'd ever think he'd be ok with you dating a raider. As your higher-up, he'll demand you end things with him or he'll have no choice but to send a squadron to slaughter him and the rest of the raiders in Nuka-World. You're choice.
Preston is not only baffled but distraught as well. Did you not realize what he was? You’re technically not from this world, so maybe you missed the signs?? He’ll pull you aside, hands firmly planted on your shoulders as he tells you you need to end things with him. He’s not an ally of the Minutemen, he's the exact thing you've sworn to be against. If you refuse to see it from his perspective, he'll have no choice but to exile you from the faction. You actively put people in danger by bringing him straight into the Castle, and he won't have anyone die needless deaths at the hands of someone like him.
Codsworth lets out a quiet "oh my!" when he spots Gage. He's quite the change from your old spouse, isn't he? A lot more rugged than he remembers your type being, but that doesn't mean his personality is much different... right? Codsworth is incredibly concerned for your well-being when you bring your boyfriend around. Are you sure you aren't sick? He's not keeping you hostage? He's snarky about the entire relationship, and won't stop making conversation awkward by bringing up your dead spouse, but he'll reluctantly be supportive. As long as you're happy, he supposes.
Piper will shove him away from you and threaten to get security if he doesn't get lost. She's amazed at the fact you chose him instead of literally anyone else in the Commonwealth and, as much as she loves you, she'd not going to blindly support a relationship she knows won't end in anything good. Piper will be annoying about how badly she wants you both to break up and won't stop pestering you until you do. Just be sure to keep an eye on Gage, if she keeps putting hands on him, he might start doing it back.
Curie is confused when you introduce him. Mainly because she only ever remembers the two of you shooting at raiders, not being friendly with them. Nevertheless, she's happy for you and will clasp her hands together excitedly at the prospect of you being in love! How cute!
Strong is probably one of the only ones on this list who approves. He feels incredibly proud that you've found additional groups of people to lead toward violence and holds a lot of respect for how brutal Gage can be in combat. It's something he really admires, however, he thinks the car parts that he wears look stupid, and he's very vocal about that.
initially, Hancock will act all friendly and kind, welcoming Gage to Goodneighbor and introducing him to the townspeople but, what you didn't know was that he'd arranged for him to be jumped while he was visiting. A sniper shooting at him from a window, a scaver yanking him into an alleyway with a hoard of triggermen, or Kleo simply attacking him; Hancock will hurt him somehow. It's all in your best interest. He'd hate for you to be a part of the wrong side of history, and besides, how could he ever live with himself if he knew he'd let some slave-owning, murderer date you?
Deacon is similar to Hancock in that he puts on a friendly facade when you finally bring Gage around. He acts as if they've known each other for years and will sling an arm around his shoulder and distract him with all sorts of outlandish stories before bringing the Deliverer out of his pocket and shooting him in his side quickly. He knows you'll be upset but, there's no way he'd let you run off to an amusement park filled with human-trafficking victims with this guy. He cares too much about you to let you follow a bunch of raiders.
X6-88 doesn't even wait for you to say anything before he shoots at him. He can tell just by looking at him that he's dirty and not a good fit for Institute life. If anything, he reminds X6 of Kellog, which isn't necessarily a good thing. The only way he'd be willing to accept the relationship is if you proposed for the Nuka-World Raiders to ally with the Institute to do all the heavy lifting on the surface. But that means the gangs would be willing to do something like that. It's a heavy offer, but he'd be content with it.
Old Longfellow will run stressed hands down his face as you and Gage sit opposite of him in a booth at the Last Plank. You can't be serious. Him?? This is the guy you'd been telling him about? It's a no from him before the two of you can even sit down. He wants you to find a man who will take care of you. Someone who's a gentleman. Don't ever bring another raider to meet him, he's never going to approve. He'll tell you that you're an adult and you can make your own decisions, but that he hopes you'll find an honest, hard-working man instead.

Biggest complaints about each companion
Warning, reference to in-game dark subject matter.
This is subjective and mostly me wishing for a more thoughtful story, with themes beyond robot racism.
Cait: TDLR; Her backstory is too much for how it's handled
It feels like Cait got thrown every bad thing she could have. With trauma in characters, less is more, and in Cait's case, it doesn't help that her writing is more interested in her trauma than who she is as a person. Like Cait only matters as a character because of what she went through and what that demonstrates about the wasteland, rather being a person first.
I would like to point out, her parents waited until she was 18 to sell her. Because, apparently, age of consent matters to sex slavers. It demonstrates a lack of commitment to the dark topic, which usually means you should tone it down. Leave one aspect, and keep the other. Abusive parents or slavery, not both.
Since Cait is our only basegame raider companion, you could use her to humanize raiders by showing how the cycle of trauma creates them. "But Gage—" is a little bitch.
Codsworth: TDLR; Focuses too much on his pre-war relationship to the player
What was Codsworth doing those 200 years? Did he just hang out in Sanctuary? Did no one ever come to Sanctuary in the meantime? Codsworth has no relation to the plot or world beyond Sole.
I think Codsworth should have had a quest about how he went out and tried to help where he could, but now doesn't know where those people are, and wants to know what became of them. Something to give Codsworth a connection to the wasteland. Or maybe Codsworth shouldn't have been the Sole Surivor's robot at all, just one that wandered into Sanctuary and met them. Then you could have a point that the first human the Sole saw after freezing (Kellogg) was cruel, but the first 'soulless' machine was kind, which makes a point about the main plot and the idea that being human doesn't make you 'human.'
Curie: TDLR; Should have been related directly to the main plot
Curie is a robot that is put inside a synth—which is, biologically, completely human in all but a chip in their head and the circumstances of their creation—and is totally fine. She learns to breathe, gets thoughts and feelings in a way a Ms. Nanny wouldn't, and handles sensations without bricking.
Send this bitch to the Institute and BOS, are you kidding me? Curie is walking proof of synths being more than machines. She has wants, imagination, potentially even dreams and nightmares. This is never brought up by anyone.
Also, Curie is a robot, and then inhuman, but still a person, and she uses science and her compassion to help the wasteland, where those who would destroy or enslave her use it to further their own egos.
Danse: TDLR; MAKE HIM SAY SORRY TO NICK AND HANCOCK
Danse's real character arc starts at his final affinity post BB, and then it doesn't go anywhere. He never learns to accept himself, or synths, or ghouls. Danse is a character that shows the terrible function of 4 Affinity Talks, because he needs, like, 10 of the things.
Danse needed his likes/dislikes updated after BB, interactions with Nick and Hancock, and a proper character arc where he unlearns his worst traits and the BOS's bullshit.
Deacon: TDLR; Dead wife? Really?
Can Deacon not just be a goofball man who used to be a bigot, and now works hard to help the people he hurt? Because Barbara and her death implies that Deacon didn't change because it was the right thing to do, but because bigotry personally affected him.
If there must be a death, make it that his community tore itself apart trying to find synths among them. Y'know, like...a witch hunt? In Salem, maybe? Since we didn't do anything interesting with Salem, one of the most interesting places in the USA? Deacon sees this and sees that it doesn't matter if synths are human or not, hatred will inevitably hurt anyone, because it doesn't actually care who you are. Hatred doesn't need a reason, only a target. The Synth plot should have been an allegory for McCarthyism instead of slavery, change my mind.
Hancock: TDLR; He's a historical LARPER that doesn't do anything in terms of a narrative.
No, Todd. You can't make John Hancock a ghoul and call it an OC.
Hancock could have had a story about identity crisis, idolatry, and trying to escape your past. We also get hints at a complex political issue in Goodneighbor about the push-and-pull between the desire for total freedom/anarchy, but the need for some kind of law and order. Hancock has a casual friendliness, and acts like 'one of the people,' but he is the mayor. There's tension there. Can your leader be your friend? Can your friend call all the shots while still being on equal footing with you? Can you lead a group of people who look up to you as a hero, and still retain modesty and not subconsciously separate yourself?
I like Hancock, he's fun, he has a lot of interesting narrative stuff. But he doesn't do anything with it. It could have been a nice parallel with Elder Maxson, too.
MacCready: TDLR; Small inconsistencies + dude, go get your son???
Mac doesn't ever go back to Duncan, and Duncan never comes to the Commonwealth. I understand that the former is for game play reasons, but the latter feels like the writers forgot that Duncan exists.
MacCready has some issues with the likes/dislikes. I think they're mistakes instead of intended, but still. For example, in the Vault 81 quest. MacCready likes letting Austin die. He dislikes it if you give the cure.
There's also Sheffield, the soda addict in Diamond City. MacCready claims to have never seen someone with a sugar addiction, but Zip, from Little Lamplight, had an addiction.
Mac is mostly fine, aside from these inconsistencies. The Dead Wife thing sucks, but I allow it because it's pretty fundamental to his story, rather then being tacked on for sad points.
Nick: TDLR; Eddie Winter is a stupid bad guy with a stupid quest and Jenny Lands is a stupid tragic backstory
Eddie Winter being the first ghoul ever is mind-bogglingly bad. You're telling me that they made ghouls before the bombs? And even if they did, Winter couldn't be the first. How the fuck would anyone know that radiation makes you immortal if you do it right, otherwise?! So, that's a contradiction within an already contrived premise. And not only that, but he just. Leaves a bunch of holotapes with a number on the back, that make a code to the basement of his favorite sandwich shop, which just so happens to be on the same street Jenny gets fridged?
So, Eddie Winter (or one of his goons) was eating one day, looked out, saw the fiance of the detective hunting him and recognized her (????), shot her, and then presumably returned to his fucking sandwich??????
And then 2 centuries later, a clone of that detective somehow finds the holotapes, untouched, unmoved, still functioning and retaining the painted-on numbers. The numbers didn't...fade? Wipe off?
You can keep the concept of Nick wanted to finish something Pre-war Nick didn't get to, but this...this isn't it.
Like, Skinny Malone was right there. Maybe just Darla shows up when you free Nick, and then later Nick has to contend with Malone and the Triggermen in some grand conspiracy with Mayor MacDonough, Hancock, and Piper.
Preston: TDLR; The radiant quest mechanic fucked him over and his voice actor needed some retakes
The moment you get Radio Freedom, Preston should have stopped giving quests. Easy fix there. It would have saved him almost a decade of shitty memes.
The real problem with Preston is that his VA beefed it bad. I can quote some of his lines with perfect inflection because the VA just did it so poorly. X6-88's VA had to play a monotonous, little-emotion character, and he still nailed it and gave X6 a lot of personality and distinction. Preston sounds like a modded-in character. And Jon Gentry is a pretty good actor! He has a great live-action presence in his demo reels on IMDB. I think he just struggled to put his performance into his voice rather than his presence/body language, and they didn't let/have him do a retake.
Piper: TDLR; So much potential, so much failure. Piper is a shitty reporter, and that could have been a great opportunity to have commentary on the ethics of journalism.
Journalism is supposed to be a duty to the people. It has responsibilities and ethics that are very easily misunderstood or forgotten for the sake of the next article. A good journalist is not always accurate. An accurate journalist is not always kind. A kind journalist is not always good.
Piper is not a good journalist, because her writing is not informative, it isn't news or useful info. She writes about MacDonough being a synth—she's basically writing callout posts on her blog.
Piper is not an accurate journalist, because she never has evidence for this claim. She says MacDonough is a synth, that the Institute took the Survivor's baby even if the Survivor says no.
Piper is not a kind journalist, because she fearmongers and makes things worse for synths. She complains that no one believes or trusts her word, but the second thing you ever see in Diamond City is a man trying to kill his brother for fear he's been replaced.
This is all fine, if addressed and explored. But it isn't. Piper seems to be chasing the high of exposing authority, and both times, she's right. We, the player, know she's right because we find out later she is. Imagine if we didn't. Imagine that reveal scene never comes. Every issue of Publick Occurances is trying to start a witchhunt, and Piper doesn't notice that it's working.
So, let's make her arc about worrying about her sister.
X6-88: TDLR; BRUH HE HAS NOTHING
No backstory, no relationships with other characters, no quest, no character arc.
TODD. You had the chance to humanize the Institute, or at least show what it's like being an Institute synth that isn't free. And you, instead, put all that time into fucking KELLOGG. You think I give a fuck about KELLOGG? I don't even give a fuck about SHAUN.
🌠Honorable mentions🌠
Gage: Hypocrite that thinks becoming the problem is fixing the problem, also he has both eyes. What do you need an eyepatch for.
Strong: Bethesda Super Mutants suck shit. Y'know Erikson fron Far Harbor? Would rather have him.
Longfellow: Dead Wife Man. Again, would have preferred Erikson.
Dogmeat and Ada: Perfect, no notes.
Best companions are:
Dogmeat, for being doggy
Ada, for being robot lady
Preston, for being perfect aside from two technical, Doylist issues.

Note
companions react to sole breaking down crying in their arms
A/N: A lot of these boil down to "they try to comfort you," so apologies for not being very creative.
Cait:
Not-romanced:  Cait will be surprised and feel awkward about the situation. Every instinct in her body is telling her to push you away and give a rude remark, but you are friends, and you have always been there for her when she needs you, so she sucks it up and hugs you. It takes her a few minutes to ask you what’s wrong, and she cringes internally at the heartfelt gesture because it is so foreign to her.
Romanced: So surprised that she can’t even think about what would be weird and what would be good to do or say. She just reacts on instinct. Luckily for Sole, her instinct around them is to protect them, not herself. “Hey, hey, what’s wrong?” She’ll be curious and worried, but won’t push you into telling her anything.
Codsworth: (since it’s impossible or at least really awkward to hug Codsworth, this one is just breaking down in front of him crying) Codsworth will panic. He cannot handle sadness well so he’ll try to cheer you up by offering various beverages or food. When that doesn’t work, he’ll finally stop and communicate with you. “Oh sir/mum, what can I do to make you feel better?”
Curie:
Not-romanced and romanced (I could not really envision it being different): Curie is not that good with emotions yet, so you being so open with them will shock her, but she’ll admire you even more for it. “Oh dear, you must be feeling a whole whirlwind of emotions for you to cry this much!” Curie will, of course, hug you back, but she will feel awkward and insecure about her ability to comfort you. She doesn't even understand most of the emotions she herself experiences. How is she supposed to make you - the expert in her eyes - feel better?
Danse:
Not-romanced: Danse will freeze for a second before hesitantly hugging you back. Everything inside of him screams that this is inappropriate, that he is your superior, and any kind of physical touch is wrong, even if it is just to comfort you. But another part of him knows your relationship isn’t just based on rank. You’re friends, so he’ll bite his tongue and let you cry until your eyes are dry. He won’t say anything in the meantime, but when you are done, he will ask for an explanation as to what is going on.
Romanced: He won’t show you, but he is panicking, and he’ll continue to panic until you tell him everything that is bothering you. He will hug you tightly and try his best to comfort you, but he will mostly listen instead of trying to give advice.
Deacon:
Non-romanced: Out of the fight-flight-freeze reactions, Deacon is a person who flees. That’s why he lies and makes up new identities. Being close to someone scares him, as does the friendship you two share. So, when you walk up to him and break down in his arms, he will unfortunately push you away. He doesn’t do it intentionally; it’s an automatic reaction to anyone seeking any sort of intimacy with him. He instantly regrets it too. “Shit, I’m sorry,” he’ll say upon seeing your surprised eyes. He internally debates whether he should tell you how uncomfortable he is with physical touch, but he can see that you need him right now, so instead he’ll close the distance again and hug you. “Sorry. Let’s forget about that, okay? Tell me what’s wrong.”
Romanced: No questions asked, he hugs you tightly and places gentle kisses on your head. He will lay the two of you down so you can cry as long as you need to in a more comfortable position. He’ll hide how much your breakdown scares him, and will try to redirect his thoughts elsewhere (as long as you’re not ready to talk). After a while, he’ll start to absentmindedly run his fingers through your hair and over your back.
Gage:
Non-romanced: If you do it in public, where the gangs can see you, he might shoot you. So, you better just do it somewhere private like on Fizztop Mountain. However, even if you do it in private, Gage won’t be comforting. He’ll push you away and curse in annoyance upon seeing your tears. “For fuck’s sake! You crying on me now, Boss? You’ve got to be kidding me.” Gage will be ashamed of you. You are the boss of a gigantic raider operation and here you are in front of him, crying. That is not an acceptable thing to do. Get angry, scream, kill, vandalize! There are many ways to express your emotions and crying is not one of them! Even if you are friends, he will not be open to hear you out as long as you are crying.
Romanced: Gage won’t push you away, but he is still uncomfortable with openly showing weakness. Even if it is the two of you towards each other. He won’t be able to stand the silence as you are crying and sobbing, so he’ll make some suggestions of other things you can do instead of crying. “Come on, let’s shoot some ghouls in Kiddie Kingdom. Always fun to get those suckers, right?” “Heard another poor bastard got stuck in the Gauntlet, how about we make his day even worse, huh?” If you do not react to his suggestions, he’ll eventually quiet down.
Hancock:
Non-romanced: “Hey, Sunshine, what’s gotten you so down?” Will hug you back tightly and not let go until you yourself signal that you want out of the embrace. Hancock will instantly communicate with you to support you as well as possible. “Tell me what you want me to do here, sweetheart.” Do you need him to just hold you and listen? Do you want him to try and cheer you up? Anything you say goes.
Romanced: The same as non-romanced, just with a lot more affection. He’ll mumble words of affection, compliments and praises in your ear.
Longfellow:
Will be awkward with the physical affection. He can understand needing a shoulder to cry on, but his shoulder hasn’t been used in a long time and he knows he is not the best person to comfort others. “Kid, I know you ain’t got a lot of friends on the island, but I’m afraid you still chose the wrong person to come to.” Of course, his words won’t do anything, it’s not like you’re gonna try and find someone else to comfort you while you are experiencing a literal breakdown, so he’ll stick with you, but will remain awkwardly silent. After a while, he’ll get used to the sound of you crying and he’ll go back to just being himself: grumbling to himself and humming some songs.

MacCready:
Non-romanced: He’ll be surprised when you suddenly crash into him crying, and a bit awkward - he was just a hired gun, this was not what he signed up for. But his worry will be bigger than his annoyance so he won’t make any insensitive remarks until after you’re done crying and he’ll only do that jokingly, to lighten the mood.
Romanced: So so worried. “Hey, what’s wrong?” When you don’t talk and just cry, his concern will only grow. “Come on, Sole, talk to me. You’re worrying me, sweetheart. Say something, please.”
Nick:
Non-romanced: “There you go, kid, just let it all out.” Nick will hug you back as gently as possible with his outdated synth body. He won’t say much, he’ll just let you cry and vent if you need to. Only if you signal that you are done will he talk and try to give advice as far as that is possible.
Romanced: The same as non-romanced but he won’t hesitate to hold you tight.
Piper:
non-romanced and romanced: Piper will feel really bad to see you like this. She will hug you tightly and try to reassure you. “Hey, shh, it’s okay. I’m here, just tell me what’s going on.”
Preston:
Non-romanced: Preston will be so awkward. He’ll have no idea how to handle this so he’ll just quietly hug you until you’ve calmed down. Only when he feels like you are not too emotional anymore will he dare to speak up. “Hey… wanna talk about it?”
Romanced: Less awkward, but he still won’t know what to say because he’s afraid he’ll make it worse or annoy you.
Strong:
Has no concept of what affection is. He’ll assume you’re trying to brawl with him and he’ll simply throw you on the ground.
X6-88:
Non-romanced: Will push you away and will not be sympathetic towards your feelings. “This seems highly inappropriate.” “If you really need to waste your time on this, I suggest you do it when you’re in human company.”
Romanced: Still unsympathetic, but he cares enough this time to keep his mouth shut. So he’ll just silently embrace you. Unless you take too long, then he will suddenly and dryly suggest you stop crying so the two of you can keep going.

Fallout 4 really coulda made the 'Living by the sea' vibes so terrifying. Of course, people know of mirleurks and stuff. But what about the things they don't know about. The fear of the unknown.
We know that sea life was also affected by radiation. We've seen the size of a mirelurk queen. We know that sharks exist from the corpses.
So. How do we know megalodons aren't back in the Falloutverse. Or krakens don't exist. Sea life enlarged and at an unimaginable scale, unknown to the survivors of humanity as they lurk beneath the waters.
What if Sole had been told not to cross the ocean to Far Habour. What if there's a reason that, after 200 years, no one has brought back voyager boats and sailing the oceans to reconnect the world. What if they know better. Or maybe they realise they don't know anything at all.
What if Sole set up a nice base at Spectacle Island, and is confused when Hancock refuses to see it. Sole jokes that he's paranoid, but he reminds them he grew up on the waterfront. He helped his dad fish when he was younger. Boats don't scare him. The water doesn't scare him.
"It's what's in it," He explained coldly. He sat down in the sand, shotgun in his arms. Sole asked him to elaborate, he said he couldn't. "You wanna go after the Institute, fine. I'll help. That's an unknown I can handle. But, I ain't getting in that boat, and neither should you."
"I'll...Ask someone else."
"Can it be Danse?"
Sole thought he was being dramatic but quickly realised that none of the companions were keen to travel across the water.
There was that time Sole once jumped off the Prydwen and into the deep sea, so far from shore, only to hear a guttural noise around them. They couldn't see anything. The water dark blue, and filthy, almost black from when the world was scorched. But whatever it was, it was large enough that its voice vibrated through their entire being. They convinved themself it was a whale. They know whales don't sound like that.
On the days Sole is at the castle, they like to look out at the ocean. Or did, until today when they saw a large boat in the distance become capsized. They almost sent their own boats out to help, but Preston placed a firm hand on their shoulder. His eyes told Sole everything he wouldn't. Preston's not the type to let people die. So, Sole turned the radio up so none of the other soldiers could hear the distant screams for help and distress calls. And to drown out their own guilt, watching as the last fisherman attempted to swim desperately to shore, only to be dragged down below the waves. Sole didn’t look away until the boat finally sank. When they did, their eyes landed on the East Wall, which was under reconstruction from when the mirelurk queen had emerged. Sole wonders if that was even the largest sea creature out there.
When Sole's getting ready for bed, Preston knocks at their door gently. "Even I can admit when something is a lost cause," There was a guilt dripped into his tone. A silent apology to the fallen men. "I'll tell our guys to stay out of the water for a few days. We can rely on the nets for fish."
"We should set up a limit for how far out our boats can go."
"We will. Tomorrow. For now, get some rest." He's halfway to closing the door when Sole speaks again.
"I jumped off of the Prydwen once..."
"Excuse me?"
"I was fine. I wanted to go into the water. I did."
"Excuse me?"
"I couldn't see anything. But I heard something. I felt the sound go through me. I think it was a whale."
"Think or hope?" Sole doesn't say anything. Preston gets his answer regardless. "Was it close to you or do you think it was fine?"
"Think or hope," Sole mirrors. "I don't know. It was large."
"That seems to be a theme with the ocean."
"...Is that why no one has tried to cross the ocean again in 200 years? I thought...I thought there'd be pirates again out there. Or something. That massive wooden ships had made a comeback somewhere."
"I can't say. For all we know, maybe people have tried." Sole doesn't want to think about the connotations of that.
"No one wanted to go to Spectacle Island."
"I'm sure it looks nice but...To be honest, neither would I. I'm Sorry."
"It's fine. I get it now...I don't think I do anymore, for a while...John wouldn't get in the boat."
"Hancock...Is a smart man. Sometimes."
"Sometimes? You're saying that to the person that jumped off of the Prydwen."
"True, you do make Hancock look like Einstein."
"Thank God people still know Einstein," Sole mumbles. "John's smarter than he let's on."
"He once showed up to my door, drunk, asking if I thought Nick had a penis. Then, if he did, if it could be classed as a vibrator. I refused to answer or ask the context for why he wanted to know."
"...On that note, goodnight Preston."
"Goodnight, Sole."
Sole stares at the ceiling as they try to sleep that night. The sound of the waves crashing against the walls keeps them awake.

You know I'm curious how you would write the companions reacting to a glitch that happened to me once in a playthrough. I was fighting a legendary ghoul and using brass knuckles when I ended up punching it in the head so hard that the head came clean off but at the same time it mutated and restored all its health. Which meant i ended up having a headless and armless (I had taken off the arms earlier in the fight) ghoul fighting me. I remember all I could think was "did I just hit this thing so hard that it can't even tell that it is supposed to be dead?"
My gosh, this is insane 😂 The glitches on this game get crazier and crazier. Also, btw, new fear unlocked because ever since you sent this in, I've been watching those legendary ferals with a bombastic side-eye 😅😅😅
Thank you so much for the request!!! 🥰
Cait - Would start frantically blowing holes into it as she blindly shoots. She would not even really worry about accuracy, just hoping that she's stopping it because this thing is seriously freaking her out at this point.
Piper - Would instantly start running as soon as she ensured that her Blue was getting out with her. Ferals and Mirelurks are her two weaknesses and a headless, armless turd in the wind ghoul is not something she's sticking around for.
Curie - Would probably scream. But as soon as it dies, she'd be examining it carefully, trying to decipher how exactly that this happened and devising some sort of scientific explanation.
MacCready - Would screech like a little girl and shoot with you until it was dead. Once it's all over, he would definitely deny it being a screech. More like a manly expression of slight uneasiness.
Deacon - Would be ready to just pop a stealth boy and bug out. He might sit this one out because this is weird even for him, so good luck.
Codsworth - Would be rather shocked, but he would stick with her regardless of the frightening sight, going after it. He is not losing the last remaining bit of his family.
Hancock - Would start laughing like a maniac. For some reason, this is hilarious to him, and while he's not sure if he's hallucinating it or not, it's still hilarious because it is such a bizarre sight.
Danse - Would quickly put on his power armor helmet to shield himself more fully as he does his best to keep from looking as scared as he feels at the sight of it. He would be embarrassed at the fact that he is afraid of a headless, armless ghoul when he has taken on things like Deathclaws before.
Preston - Would do his best to remain calm despite the terrifying sight, and he would try to maintain some distance from it. He would say it was to get better shots on the creature, but the truth is that he just would not want to be close to the thing.
Valentine - Would be surprised but would not react too badly. He would handle it rationally and go on shooting at it like he would normally, just not quite in the same spots as he would try to aim for normally.
X6-88 - Would be thankful for the fact that it could not really attack in its customary manner of bites and angry swings of its arms. He would take advantage of its removed defense system and he would make short work of the entire thing, aiming for the legs.
Dogmeat - Would not be bothered by the lack of a head and arms, and he would attack it just the same, going for the legs since those are definitely still intact.
Strong - Would be confused but would not dwell on it for too long. He would probably just go after its neck stump and smack the feral with his super sledge like it was a piñata.

AAAH HELLO!! :]
Wow Im excited to see your excellent art that will happen from these requests!!
You like ghouls! I like ghouls! What do you think Danse would look like ghoulified ? (Power armour is absolutely optional!)
Thank you!! !
Tumblr media
Hi))
Oh my poor boy… I wouldn't want him to become a ghoul. I don't think he can handle it, he doesn't have the right type of character. I tried my best, but I'm not sure about the similarity. All his prominent features - thick hair, wide eyebrows, full cheeks and large lips - will not be preserved in the form of a ghoul. So in my AU, after breaking up with Sole (they remained friends and comrades) Danse stuck with the Minutemen and slowly started to recover and search for his own way. Maybe he will find significant other later. I wish all the good things for him.

Relationship Alphabet: Haitani Rindou
I'm alive, I have been seeing many writers do the alphabet prompt lists and I was inspired to do the same. Since at the moment writing a whole fic sounds a bit much, have this compellation of head cannons and drabbles.
Relationship Alphabet Prompts by: @danses-with-dogmeat
Haitani Rindou x Male/GN! Reader (You/Your)
Warnings: Full of personal HCs on stuff that isn't fully explored or explained in cannon, mentions of fights, mentions of low self confidence, mentions of Ran, one letter has nsfw themes
Extra: I wrote this in one setting, this might be a bit messy since there is no edits.
If you enjoy this then likes and reblogs are appreciated!
If you would like to see other characters with this list then do send in a request!
Content under the cut
A) Attention. How much attention do they want in the relationship?
Often being known as Ran's shadow when they were growing up and only having his brother, he would love the attention and want as much as you will give him. Though he will only allow major attention when in private since he does have a reputation to hold.
B) Baby. Do they want a family? Why/why not?
Family is a strange concept to Rindou, he only grew up with his brother and didn't have much of parental figures around. He wouldn't have a strong leaning towards one or the other, building his opinion off of what you want.
If you want kids then he will be happy to learn and raise kids or adopt kid(s) and show them the best home life you and him can offer.
If you don't want kids then he is fine with that and is secretly glad since he doesn't want to share your attention.
Bonten!Rindou would be a bit more hesitant for children due to his line of work, he doesn't want to put others in danger if they don't have a reason to be.
C) Cuddle. Do they like to cuddle and show affection? How?
This man is touchstarved, he loves to cuddle. He is like a cat, constantly needing to be attached to you someway.
When at home, he will hold you on his lap, in bed, while standing, anywhere he can hold them he will. He finds comfort in holding you close, reminding him that you are there and won't leave him.
D) Dates. What are dates with them like? What do they like to do?
Do not let him plan a date. He is the worst since he sticks to places he likes and goes to often, which means it's highly likely that one of his friends will see him and crash the date. He tries, he does, but he likes routine and familiar places.
Bonten!Rindou is a different story though, he will find whatever his s/o is comfortable with with ease. Big fancy dates? He has 10 places that you can pick from and many other options. Private dates? Tell him where you want to go and he just needs to make a phone call. Something that isn't fancy or expensive? He will try his best to make sure that you get the best while not making you uncomfortable.
E) Equal. Do they prefer to be more dominant or submissive in the relationship?
Public? He makes sure that he is the dominant one in the relationship.
At home? That's a different story. He loves to be taken care of and pampered, having spent his life taking care of himself, it gives him good feelings when you take care of him. He will do the chores that you don't want to do, do the shopping if you aren't feeling up to it or don't want to, basically anything you don't want to do he will gladly do since you are so caring to him.
F) Fights. How do they handle arguments? How quick are they to forgive?
Rindou has only ever known fists and blood. When he would get in arguments with Ran, a punch was often thrown. He isn't the best with his emotions and has trouble processing them in a healthy way and you know this.
If you two get in an argument then he will lock himself in your room or go somewhere were he isn't around you, since he doesn't want to hurt you. After some time you message him and ask if he can come and you two can talk.
When this happens it is often peaceful and you are very patient with Rindou as he tries to express his feelings and communicate in a healthy way.
ˢᶦᵈᵉ ⁿᵒᵗᵉ: ᵀʰᵉ ᵒⁿˡʸ ʳᵉᵃˢᵒⁿ ʷʰʸ ʸᵒᵘ ᵗʷᵒ ᵈᵒ ᵗʰᶦˢ ᶦˢ ᵇᵉᶜᵃᵘˢᵉ ᵃᶠᵗᵉʳ ᵒⁿᵉ ᵃʳᵍᵘᵐᵉⁿᵗ ᵒᶠ ʸᵉˡˡᶦⁿᵍ, ᵉᵃʳˡʸ ᵒⁿ ᶦⁿ ʸᵒᵘʳ ʳᵉˡᵃᵗᶦᵒⁿˢʰᶦᵖ, ʸᵒᵘ ʷᵉʳᵉⁿ'ᵗ ᵍᵒᶦⁿᵍ ᵗᵒ ˢᵗᵃⁿᵈ ᶠᵒʳ ᵗʰᵃᵗ ᵃⁿᵈ ᵗᵒˡᵈ ʰᶦᵐ ᵗʰᵃᵗ ᶦᶠ ᵗʰᵉʸ ʷᵉʳᵉ ᵍᵒᶦⁿᵍ ᵗᵒ ᶠᶦᵍʰᵗ ᵗʰᵉⁿ ᵗʰᵉʸ ʷᵒᵘˡᵈ ʳᵉˢᵒˡᵛᵉ ᶦᵗ ᶦⁿ ᵃ ʰᵉᵃˡᵗʰʸ ʷᵃʸ, ᵃⁿᵈ ᶦᶠ ʰᵉ ᶜᵃⁿ'ᵗ ᵈᵒ ᵗʰᵃᵗ ᵗʰᵉⁿ ᶦᵗ'ˢ ⁿᵒᵗ ᵃ ᵗʰᶦⁿᵍ ᵃⁿʸᵐᵒʳᵉ.
G) Gratitude. How grateful are they in general? Are they aware of what their s/o is doing for them?
He notices many things you do for him. Some things that you do, he asked why and you explained it to him and he fell for you harder.
He takes notes of the little things and how you keep track of small things and take time to do something if you can. (For example, he doesn't like spice, so you will pay close attention to the spice levels of stuff and will make spicy things less spicy so he can eat them as well).
Not being good with his emotions, he doesn't know how to express how grateful he is, so he turns to physical expression or gift giving.
H) Honesty. Are they honest with their s/o? How important is it to them in a relationship?
Rindou is a very closed off person, he tires his best to be honest with you and you do your best to do the same. He finds honesty to be important and a key foundation to any relationship between people.
I) Insight. How easy is it for them to read their partner? (Mood, thoughts, etc.)
While he isn't the smartest person, he knows how to read body language and facial expressions. It took a bit for him to learn what your specific tell signs were but once he learned them, he knew what to look for. He isn't the best at picking up on behavioural ques or shifts but he tries his best.
J) Jealousy. Do they get jealous? If so, how easily? How do they deal with it?
Being the younger sibling, he had to share things with his brother or got the seconds of his stuff. They only had the two of them and so they were close and shared many things, but Rin is selfish when it comes to you.
K) Kiss. What are their kisses like? Who kissed who first?
He doesn't really know how to properly kiss or how to be super romantic with kisses. He prefers short kisses and kissing your body parts (cheek and hands specifically).
It was you who kissed first and it was after he came over from a nasty fight, you patched him up. You kissed him when he was rambling about something and wasn't listening to what you were trying to say.
L) Love. Who said “I love you” first? How often do they say it? When did they realize they were in love?
Rin said it first, blurting it out after his lack of sleep caught up to him after a fight. You were helping him when he said it and it took a moment for both of you to realise what he said.
He doesn't say it often, but he shows it.
He knew he was in love when he went to your place after a fight, and you were helping him get cleaned up and patched up. It clicked for him that he was in love with how much you cared for him and how you were willing to do this.
M) Marriage. Do they want to get married? How long do they have to be in the relationship beforehand? What would the marriage be like?
He doesn't think of marriage as a big thing, it's just a different term for the two of you being in love. If you haven't moved in together already then that would change but not much would otherwise. He would want to be in the relationship for a good number of years and know that he was still going to be in love with his partner in the coming years.
If you want to get married then he is more than happy to do so. Even if you just mention it in passing, he will save it for later and figure out a plan. He would prefer a small wedding and for it to be more chill than anything.
N) Nickname. What are the nicknames they have for their s/o? Do they like when their s/o uses nicknames?
He often sticks to pet names, using ones he knows you like. The most common ones he calls you are Love, Dear, and sometimes he calls you his dove.
He doesn't mind nicknames, he has been called them his whole life so it doesn't really cross his mind that often. When he hears a nickname that you came up with or a pet name that you call him, he is a flustered mess no matter what. It just sounds different coming from you.
O) Open. How long does it take for them to open up to their s/o?
It takes a good while. He needs to know that you actually care and do want to hear what he has to say. He also needs to trust you immensely before he spills anything.
It helps if you don't talk to his brother much or more often than him since he has been in situations where people have gotten close to him to only get close with Ran.
P) PDA. How do they feel about public displays of affection? What kind of PDA do they show?
Hand holding and maybe a kiss to the hand. he has a reputation to hold up. If it is the middle of the night and no one is outside or around you two, then he is more willing to actually do a kiss to the cheek or holding you close.
Q) Quality Time. What do they like to do for quality time with their s/o?
Doing anything makes him happy. He won't admit it but he loves when you two do something related to music/DJing, fighting and gang stuff, and going on his bike.
R) Reunion. How do they react after being apart from their s/o? How do they cope when they’re away?
He is very clingy, he will hold you and only let go of you for the bathroom. He will never admit that he is clingy and get all flustered if you point it out, but he is a big soft boyfriend and he only has had so many things that he can call his in his life.
S) Sad. How do they cheer their s/o up when they are feeling down? How do they like to be cheered up?
If you are feeling sad then he will get your favourite treats, snacks, and foods and you two will have a movie marathon.
If he is sad, you mess with him to get him to smile and cheer up.
T) Thrill. Do they need to try out new things to spice up your relationship? Or do they prefer a certain routine?
He gets his need for thrill out with fighting, so he is pretty calm with the relationship. He likes to keep it in a blanket routine. It would be boring if it was the same thing everyday but if there is some routine in certain things and then none in other things, he is more than happy with that.
U) Understanding. How well do they know their partner? Are they empathetic?
He does his best to be empathetic and understanding, he has bit of trouble with it but he does what he knows. he is very good at keeping track of what you are currently into, your favourite things, what you have been doing lately, and other things he can store and use for later.
V) Value. How important is the relationship to them? What is its worth in comparison to other things in their life?
He values a long strong relationship at as high as it can be. It is the same value as Ran. He has someone that is important to him and he will do what he can to make sure that you are happy and content.
W) Wild Card. A random relationship headcannon.
He can't cook. Him and Ran can't cook and always ate pre-made meals. The first time he tried to cook you something, you had to explain to him that you need to cook meat in a specific way depending on the type. You two ordered out that night.
X) Explicit. An NSFW headcannon.
Full on bottom. He loves to let you take control and will do anything to please you. He also does the sub role if you two do anything that involves dom/sub dynamics.
Y) Your Name. If they did get married to their s/o, who would take whose last name?
Rin wouldn't really care, he does like his family name and it has a reputation but he loves the idea of having a fresh start. He probably keeps his last name for legal purposes but introduces himself with your name.
Bonten!Rindou would love for you to take his name but he doesn't want you to get targeted so with some help of some connections, legally you have your name but in reality you go by his name.
Z) Zz. How do they like to sleep with their partner? What time do they like to go to sleep/wake up, ideally?
He likes sleep but isn't like Ran. He likes to hold you close and he prefers to have a decently consistent sleep schedule. He likes to wake up early so he has time to wake up and turn his brain on for the day before he has to do anything.

How about the fo4 companions (including DLC companions) reacting to a S.S. who was an Ex-Paladin for the BOS and had killed their team after being ordered to kill a synth child and went AWOL, taking the child under their care as a backstory?
I didn't do Ada or Longfellow because I didn't get to know them very well. We can imagine Ada didn't really give a shit and Longfellow just accepted it. He is old, he has wisdom... and he is probably drunk (for all I know of him)
Cait : "Bad-ass! I couldn't do better myself, kids not kids. But I take it's a warnin'. Dinnae violate yer morality by...not touchin' a child?"
Codsworth : "So this is what you were doing the entire time you were missing?"
"Yes. I was on the Capital side. I was completely disoriented after what happened to Nate/Nora. I had no idea what to do. And I couldn't bear seeing all I knew... altered in that way. I continued walking towards the capital without pausing. I couldn't find anything better on the road, so I decided to join the BoS. Seek out a place to live and some semblance of civilization. But they're all monsters in the end."
"Except for Danse..."
Sole tries to hide their smile, but they shake their heads and return to their solemnity.
"However, the reason I'm talking to you today is that my responsibilities as a General are taking up more and more of my time. I frequently put myself in dangerous situations. Also, the closer I go to the Institute, the more scared I am of never returning. I would not want my other child to be abandoned or without means."
"Do you still have him with you?"
"I hid him close to Sanctuary. I try to see him as much as possible, but it's becoming increasingly difficult. He requires a healthy environment, and Sanctuary has transformed into a haven of peace and tolerance..."
"Don't say anything else! I'd be delighted to look after this little one while you're away! We will always be at home to greet you back."
Sole expected nothing less from their butler, but seeing his joy warms their heart. The child does require a stable environment. Besides, having a location to return to and be welcomed back would be great for them.
Curie : "How dreadful. Betraying your vows by having to kill all of these individuals. Please be sure that I understand. But betraying a vow must be horrifying."
Sole sighs. Curie is only familiar with Hippocrates' oath. They are well aware that the synth cannot consider betraying it. But they appreciate how she handled the story. After all, these murders and betrayals have been weighing on them for a long time, and it feels nice to finally have someone to talk to.
Danse (Post BB) : "This story was told from time to time in the dorms. But I never imagined it was true, and I never suspected for a second that it was you. I now have a better understanding of your situation. But how is it that Maxson has never had a doubt? And why are you back?"
"It was another era, another time. They had not yet performed ADN testing, so how could they have known? And I needed the BoS to get into the Institute. But if you want a completely honest response, they are simply incredibly stupid."
"I recognize it now."
Deacon (romanced) : There were always moments. Sole vanished from his radar for a few days, then reappeared. They were impossible to trace. He now understands. Sole would never have allowed them to be followed in order to expose the location of this synth child's hiding place. And Deacon has more admiration than ever for this person to whom he has now dedicated his life.
Dogmeat : Love the child. Everything else is nonsense. It's a dog. He simply loves the child... and guards him like a mother wolf.
Elder Maxson (romanced) : Cade is formal. The soldier is the same. But how could it have taken him so long to identify them? How could his officer be so careless? He's not sure how to react now. To set an example, he must surely execute Sole immediately. But can he truly? He doesn't have a choice. As soon as Sole returns to the ship, he will arrest them and hand them over to a firing squad.
He doesn't have a choice...
But what if...
He makes an effort to think. He attempts to figure out who on his team could handle such a delicate mission for him. Then he finds out. Heylan, the scribe, came naturally in his mind. He is aware that she covered Danse. He had been aware of it, yet he accepted it since he himself was hesitant. Because a large part of him was hoping for a loophole in this tricky situation. Because he cared so much about Danse. And now, once again, a dossier in which his emotions and his responsibilities collide. Is this bad luck? When the scribe enters his quarters, he requests that she close the door behind her.
"This discussion never happened, and if you mention it, I will deny everything and you will face justice."
Haylen had not anticipated such a welcome. She was already worried about appearing before the Elder, her nerves had now reached new heights. But she nodded, waiting for what the leader of her organisation intended to do.
"You will return to the ground and follow Sole's trail, trying to find their allies and visiting their colonies. You must deliver a message from me: "I know, never come back."
Haylen cocks her head to the side, unsure, but she nods once more.
"Good, sir."
"Be really discreet. If you do not send this message before Sole returns to the airport, I will be forced to execute them. Do you realise the significance of what I'm asking?"
"Sir, yes. I completely understood."
"Danse trusted you, Sole trusted you, and so do I. Don't betray that trust."
"Never, sir."
And now all Maxson has to do is wait and hope. He did everything in his power. May fate now look after Sole.
Hancock : "Killing BoS? Help a child? And you were unwilling to brag about it?"
Sole frowns and shakes their head.
"There's more to it than that. I deserted my companions; I betrayed those who had placed their trust in me. They were under my command, and—
"You put your duties as they must be. This ends the debate. Is he all right, the kid?"
"Yes, yes, yes. He lives not far away. I hid him in... well, I hid him. I try to see him as frequently as possible."
Hancock's keen stare falls on them, becoming somber.
"Are you too afraid to tell me where he is?"
His friend, embarrassed, lowers their head.
"Understand! I… For so long, I've lived as a renegade, and I've kept our path hidden. It's difficult to put faith in anyone on this subject."
With a slight smile on his face, the mayor shakes his head.
"You've just pointed out your betrayal, your massacer, and its existence to me. It's odd that you paused right before asking me to send Fahrenheit to babysit."
"Pardon?" Sole and the bodyguard inquire.
"Yes, keeping him secure. So many sacrifices, why not give him a life worth saving?"
"Not in Goodneighbourhood! Never!"
"So what? Isn't this the town of outcasts and fugitives?"
Sole mulls on what Hancock has just said, but they sighs deeply.
"No. This is not the kind of life I want for him."
"So it's better to hide him?"
"I'm not sure, but your girlfriend doesn't appear to agree with your plans."
"Fah is my daughter, not my girlfriend."
Sole's eyes widen in disbelief. Hancock busts out laughing.
"A secret for a secret. Where do you plan on putting down roots, for the kid? I mean, seriously."
Gage : "What on earth does that have to do with conquering the Commonwealth?"
Sole grimace. That was something they should have expected. Gage is unconcerned about his last sock. The past is the past, the raiders are not children of the heart, and Gage's objectives are more essential than humans leaving by the side of the road. Sole does not and will never insist. But one day, like this, Gage returns to them, perplexed.
"You know, boss, I've been thinking about something. You betrayed your old patrol for a child who isn't even human. There may be children present when we invade the Commonwealth colonies. Are you sure you're not going to do it backwards?"
Sole's eyes widen in amazement. Then they softly shake their head and smile.
"No way, Gage, never."
But after that, their lieutenant was shot in the head the moment he turned his back.
MacCready : "Killing BoS and protecting a child synth. Yeah. You like risks, it’s twisted, but who am I to judge?"
He sighs and shrugs.
"Say, regarding the events in Vault 81... I hope you don't hold my view in the same regard, and that you're not planning to gut me in my sleep."
"Did you request that this child die? You were upset that I saved him, but you didn't ask for his death. That's not the same."
"No, I didn't... I didn't mind that you saved him! I'm disappointed that you didn't save yourself for whatever reason!"
MacCready is suddenly interested in his weapon, which he disassembles to lubricate the mechanism.
"However, I am not surprised. In fact, an imbecile capable of giving up healthcare in favor of a child's life may well debunk BoS without guilt in order to rescue one."
"It was my team..."
"That was the motto. The past is gone. Winlock and Barnes were both killed by me. You heard me; I don't pass judgement."
Nick Valentine (romanced) : He had a good time that evening. Conversations about the past, Sole in his arms, starry sky over their heads. But, for once, Sole didn't bring up the pre-war topic. They described this horrific event from their recent history nervously, almost fearfully.
"And the kid, what's he become?" The detective inquires flatly.
"Always safe and hidden. I try to pay him visits every few days. But I'm always worried that he'll be discovered."
Sole looks up to Nick, and he sees their anxiety. He strokes their cheek gently.
"Your secret is safe with me. I will never betray you. In the meanwhile, we'll consider where we can best place the child. Perhaps one of your settlements. I suppose he could be quiet at Sanctuary, and you could stop constantly glancing over your shoulder."
Sole's eyes are now bright with joy. They had already considered it, but because this secret had always been closely guarded, they frequently pondered if it was a poor idea without anybody else talking about it. The fact that Nick agrees with them gives them comfort. Yes, perhaps it's time for this poor child to resume his normal existence. And now that they're thinking about it, they're certain that Sanctuary would be the ideal location.
Piper : "Wow! What a tale! I'm not supporting genocide, but these Brotherhoods are viciously slaughtering anything that isn't like them."
"It was not a genocide."
"A slaughter? Don't try and tell me it wasn't a slaughter."
"Do you intend to write an article about this?"
"No! Absolutely not! I'm not stupid enough to put you and the boy in danger, and it could eventually lead to an open war with the Brotherhoods to expose to them that the Commonwealth Minutemen General is a former traitor to their organisation."
Sole gently shakes their head, a small smile on their lips. Piper's intelligence should never be underestimated. She comprehends things better than anybody else, and they were right to put their trust in her.
Preston : "But really, you had to kill these men back then?"
Sole sadly shakes their head.
"They refused to listen to reason. They'd track me down and kill me. I was his single chance to living a free and happy life. I had no choice."
The Colonel nodded slowly, his gaze fixed on the Prydwen.
"I see what you're saying. And I completely understand your distress at seeing this ship. Okay, if diplomatic visits are necessary, I will make them. Meanwhile, return this sad child to Sanctuary so he can have a decent home. It's a disgrace to keep him among the ruins, fearful, when we can give him a better future."
Sole can't keep a smile from appearing on their lips. They were completely right in telling Preston of everything.
Strong : “Boring. No need so much words. Protecting child. Good. Strong strong. Strong will protect child of human.”
Sole smiled slightly. It felt good to talk about it. And as usual, Strong’s simplistic philosophy reinforced their convictions. And now they have one more ally to protect their child.
X6-88 : Sole is sad now. They have since developed a trusting relationship with the Courser. They had placed their trust in his friendship. They assumed that X6 had progressed past certain phases of the Institute. That he had changed. So, they confided in him about everything. Their companion's reply did not take long. He demanded that Sole hand over the infant to the Institute. There have been relatively few synth children created, and they are extremely valuable for research advancement. Sole refused, as they had before refused to follow X6 in some "homework," but the Courser did not sweep the subject with the back of his hand this time. He made a threat against Sole. He threatened them, and everything about his demeanour indicated that he was serious. He stated thoroughly that it was the final straw. If Sole continued to refuse to behave in the Institute's best interests, they would be judged to have chosen to be an enemy. When Sole refused to cooperate, X6 opened fire, claiming that he didn't need Sole to find the child but couldn't afford to have them in his way. Sole is sad since they have to kill someone they thought a friend.
