Is anyone overtaken by anger whenever they think of Hollywood's tendency to remake whole ass foreign movies instead of subbing of even dubbing the damn thing because god forbid the average yankee is exposed to a non anglo culture
Or is it just me?
#malu.text#this post was inspired by me watching the original ringu#and being reminded of the speak no evil remake of the dannish movie of the same name from 20-FUCKING-22#like. I'm Brazilian#I've been watching american movies since forever cause they saturate our market#but even with the success of parasite 2019 hollywood still insists on coddling its viewers#by continuing to center usamerican views in foreign movies#the double standards and cultural imperialism is fucking ridiculous

Mr. + Mr. Sharpe, Pt. IV
FEB. 6, 2024 - 10:23PM
Maxim and Antwan sat back to back in the foyer of a dark mansion. The cream walls lay covered in vibrant tags of graffiti and oblong shaped furniture pieces sat wrapped in heavy white sheets. The marble did not creak beneath their boots but the leaves, buoyed by the frigid February air, scraped and moaned across the dingy tiles. The couple sat on an fluffy beige rug with a picnic placed between them.
“Status.” Maxim called over his shoulder.
“Clear.” Antwan answered automatically.
Maxim and Antwan sat very still as they pointed their guns in anticpation of targets. Maxim could feel the quick rise and fall of Antwan’s shoulders and he pushed his back against him.
“Deeper breaths, babe.” He called.
“I know. I know.” Antwan quipped. “Something just isn’t right. We had no contracts out. We left the game. Everyone we know is dead or in hiding. We were good. How the hell did someone find us?”
Antwan’s voice was a furious whisper at Maxim’s ear. Maxim was the more levelheaded of the two—very seldom did he panic in the face of hard decisions. He was patient and calculated as opposed to his husband’s reactionary responses.
“I don’t know.” Maxim said. “but we can’t worry about that in this moment. Survive the night.”
“Survive the night.” Antwan repeated.
Antwan’s breaths came slower at his back and he smiled.
“Stop smiling.” Antwan warned. “There’s nothing to smile about.”
“Kinda is.” Maxim cooed.
He leaned back and rested his head against Antwan’s soft coiled ponytail. The barrel of his gun did not dip as he mirrored an exhale with Antwan.
“We’ve had worse anniversaries.” Maxim smiled.
“Cape town.” Antwan mused.
“Barbados.”
“Tokyo.”
“Copenhagen.” They said together.
“I still don’t know who gave little Annegrete that pistol.” Maxim chortled.
“I did.” Antwan called back.
“Why the fuck did you give an eight year old Dannish girl a pistol, Antwan?”
“She was sitting there with her legs crossed like we were her bodyguards and that’s not what we got paid for. She was there. She was gonna work too, goddamit.”
“Babe...” Maxim sighed.
“What?” Antwan asked.

Spotty have you herd of the Danish mutation and karpati mutation
karpati mutation causes a cat to have white ears mouth and tail like this
And the dannish mutation causes a cat to look like this
I have I have!!
Avocetclaw is an example of a karpati cat, actually; for some reason, I always read Whiteclaw as looking like that.
Meanwhile I don’t think anyone has the Danish mutation just yet, at least not off the top of my head, but I’m certain that there will be both and more to come!! ^^
#old faces new dawn#ask#the-cryptid-moth#!!! welcome welcome#I’ve seen you lurking in my notifs for a while now <3

Fate Actor AU
I am literally on a roll with these xD. Like these ideas keep popping up every time.
- This show was also produced and directed by Jonathan Joestar. Yeah Jonathan is the King of anime shows xD.
- This show has the most culturally diverse cast
- Gilgamesh is actually Turkish, well part Turkish part Iranian. He was born and raised in Istanbul and he and Eren Jaeger were best friends and neighbours since childhood
- They both promised each other that no matter what they would both make it in the entertainment industry and be successful and famous. Their wish came true years later and the two of them always talk about it in interviews
- Altoria is actually British like her character, Iskandar is from Greece, Lancelot is American, Hercules is actually South American, Medusa is from France, Emiya is Japanese but was raised in Italy, Cu is from Denmark, Diarmuid is also Dannish, Gilles is from France, The Hassans are all from Saudi Arabia, Medea is from Greece. Enkidu is Turkish as well
- Everyone speaks their national language at times and they kind of understand each other
- Everyone agrees that Kirei is the worst cook whilst Emiya is the best
- Gilgamesh is different from his character in the sense that he is an actual chill dude though he can be tsundere xD
- He got tummy aches from the laughs
- Speaking of the laughs, he did several takes because he just could not stop laughing and that is because Altoria always says something to make him laugh
- He respects Altoria a lot and is protective of her much to everyone’s amusement
- Altoria likes Gilgamesh and teases him a lot
- The gang always swap stories about their upbringing and whatnot
- Everyone is protective of the younger Masters like Ritsuka, Tine and Hakuno
- Kirei and Gilgamesh often play chess on set and often ask Tokiomi to hang with them
- Rin is Tokiomi’s real life daughter plus she plays both Ishtar and Ereshkigal plus herself
- Her bickering with Gilgamesh when in Ishtar mode makes everyone laugh
- Sakura plays a handful of characters as well as Shirou
- There was a character so many Turks requested for for years to be added to Fate Grand Order- Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror
- Jonathan always wanted to add this character but could not think of someone to play this character until Gilgamesh suggested one name: Eren Jaeger
- Jonathan was skeptical at first till he saw Eren did a reading for him. Plus seeing Eren in full costume complete with the signature turban and giving off some Gilgamesh-esque vibes helped
- Eren loved playing his character and thanked Gilgamesh for helping him land the role
- The segments involving the Sultan and Gilgamesh were considered hilarious as the dynamic between those two is similar to the one Gilgamesh has with Ozymandias and Iskandar. Only difference is that these two always bicker xD.
- Eren’s signature Mehmed laugh is similar to Gilgamesh’s laugh and he too got tummy aches from excessive laughter xD
- Ozy is a proud Egyptian and gave the casta t our of Egypt alongside the Egyptian servants
-Nitocris always gets nervous whenever she shoots a scene
- Cleopatra once got severe burns on set thanks to some skincare product she bought and had to be taken to the hospital for treatment
- Caesar eats a lot and Cleo worries about his health
- Speaking of Ozymandias and Iskandar, the both of them plus Arthur, Eren and Gilgamesh hang out off-set and often get into prank wars on set with Jeanne Alter, Altoria, Ushiwakamaru, Rin and Sakura
-Jeanne and Jeanne Alter are twins
- Nursery Rhyme and Jack the Ripper always play outside with the other kids from other sets
- Gilgamesh wishes to settle down soon. Altoria always nags him to go get a girlfriend and she and Enkidu have tried setting up blind dates for him. Truth is Gilgamesh is in love with someone and it is not Enkidu or Altoria or even Ozymandias as many suspect. People suspect Eren because one story about them getting it on onset. Both have neither denied nor confirmed it.
- Hercules is such a gentle giant and everyone loves and cares for him, plus he talks normally
- All the Roman servants often annoy the Turks on set who chase after them every time
- Nero always gives everyone chocolate every single Valentine’s Day
- Elizabeth is an actual good singer and was confused as to how to sing badly for her character
- Camille and the vampiric servants drink wine a lot and often invite Dio over for a chat
- The Jojo set is close to the Fate set so the Jojo cast often visits
- The younger servants love playing hide and seek on set and also tag. The young Jojo kids join in the fun.
- One of the highlights every evening is that everyone from the Jojo, Fate and other related sets come out and sit by a bonfire and start talking about life. The older folks give the younger ones advice.
- Snowball fights ahoy
- Everyone calls Jonathan either Jojo or dad
- There was a lot of fight and stunt training for the entire cast, something they all enjoyed
- Gilgamesh likes the whole concept of the show which was why he agreed to it in the first place
- Medea always forgets her lines
- Illya likes messing with Hercules’s hair
- Everyone plays the different versions of themselves
- Ashiya Douman is the resident troll on set
- Gilgamesh did not like the armour at first due to how bulky it was but he soon got used to it and ended up liking it

you're fighting for your life in that post and god damn you're an idiot. like completely oblivious to everything everyone is saying. dumb idiot american indeed
nah i honestly think it's getting weird and unhealthy the level of hostility and vitriol like finnish dannish and Belgian tumblr (three nationalities i saw posting with the most disdain) has for americentric posts about something as innocent as if watching foreign movies is a rare thing for you vs the norm. And the way foreign is defined differently based on different economies. I think the frustration of like "man some of you guys really forget non americans are on here" is very fair and warranted. especially with a level of humility too it since you live in America part 2.
if you're a white fandom blogger in finland I kinda think the frustration at americentrism should be rooted in the knowledge it harms others more than you. that it frustrates you on behalf of the rest of the world, while also knowing you benefit from it. it should frustrate you primarily as an ally, not really as a victim. and sometimes it feels more like you're claiming you're being oppressed. there's layers to it, like the potential loss of your native language into english that should be framed as actual marginalization and indigenous culture worth preserving. but idk, there's a lot of "jumping at the chance to be hostile and holier than thou online and justify it to myself as telling off my oppressor" in north and west european tumblr toward american users. when the dynamic is not as clear cut as the situations you're imitating, like the tone of justified disdain and hate when people from the global south make fun of american ignorance, their undeniable oppressors. and sometimes these american users aren't even white, so they're actually far more oppressed by america than you could ever be.
i've seen enough of turkish twitter bullying black americans online with vicious superiority for their perceived connections to american imperialism making them fair game in some international users minds. but not all international users are equally oppressed, are they? some of you guys ARE the oppressors. arguably the turkish person is the more privileged individual in the room. with racial privilege as a turk in an imperial country that committed genocide on minorities for not being turk in order to establish a turk ethnostate. and in terms of international relations turkey is one of the most powerful natjons in the middle east / west asia. this person is the primary oppressor class of the middle east just after white europeans. the idea they have some plight under black americans for being technically brown and middle eastern and using that misconception to make anti black jokes (rampant in their country as well) under the guise of ANTI IMPERIALISM tbh nauseates me. so seeing any kind of largely misplaced co-opted rage for cool comeback fuckery from actual white europeans against the vague sense of "american bad" (yes of course america bad, but to who BUT TO WHO?? like i'm sure we've done Belgium wrong. fair. but is it right to make this americentric conversation always SOo much about you and your danish neighbors?? and with THAT holier than thou attitude with what belgium has done?? like there's limits to the validity vs hypocrisy of frustration about americans forgetting europe exists. the leftist analysis of power imbalance of american culture and media over yours is very good. but in your place of privilege it's very easy for the hostility and condescension to cross over into person with nationalistic ego complex interpreting different life experiences mentioned in polls as an affront on your experiences and proof of american ego and ignorance) it just gets under my skin as of late!
ive thought here and there about the levels of disdain condescension and bitterness from western europe tumblr users to the idea of americentrism and it started off as quite justified and understandable (i think to some level it still is) but some of you guys kind of inappropriately mimic and co-opt the level of anger people actually oppressed my american imperialism do and should have. especially cause you benefit from it. and the clarity and humility and nuance in that is important! especially when many americans are not white, it becomes even more inappropriate as any kind of leftism against a power imbalance and more and more with features of like nationalism/xenophobia
I saw a popular post the other day about how "ancient people were just hammered all the time lol. they drank more beer than water". that's only true for ancient europeans. no one thought to question it let alone insult OP over it. so many posts on here are ethnically eurocentric (revolving around europeans or european americans, european australians etc) as well because eurocentrism and americentrism are so deeply tied and linked.
the discourse on western european tumblr is just getting to a weird place tbh where it's actually getting a bit overblown. and i hate to tell you not to make jokes at our expense or criticize oblivious posts. i definitely don't mean that!! i don't want this to come off as like "europe stop making fun of america or criticizing american ignorance or you're RACIST" but i feel like some of you guys aren't even using americentrism the term and theory correctly anymore and are just using that term for some very mild nuanced situations with actual hate and disgust, like the way foreign films are defined differently. maybe that shouldn't inspire that level of hatred especially when you yourself are not oppressed by the "First World" powers, and you ARE the privileged First World. that post in particular snotty and white fragility laden feeling like it was because of like an ego injury rather than real oppression.

I am learning Arabic now, but I have difficulties in getting a teacher and any environments who can I share with them or learn together bout arabic. Do u have any suggestion for me, ? Or, can I learn written and spoken Arabic only by myself, ?
Well, I by no means think that language classes are the end all be all. If you have access to them, great, but if you don’t, don’t even sweat it! Before I had taken Japanese or Korean classes (which I didn’t do until college btw), I had been studying on my own, on and off, for a few years. Here is how I typically approach my new languages (and this works well for me, personally):
1. Learn the alphabet, well
2. Learn the super useful and basic sayings and how to introduce yourself
Of course, this just always seems like the best and easiest thing to do. Not only are these the things that are most important, so I’ll likely run into them all the time, but by learning basic phrases, I can get a feel for the way the language works, both in regards to how the language sounds, and how sentences are typically constructed. This early on, even when I don’t know all of the words, I like to point out certain patterns I see while looking at the translations (For example, when I was learning Korean, even though I didn’t really know any words or grammar, just by looking at translations of basic phrases, I could see “Oh, sentences in the past tense all seem to have this -ㅆ어요 ending whereas present tense sentences only had -요,” things like that.
3. Vocab, vocab, vocab!
Even though you may not know how to hold whole conversations, I feel like learning basic vocabulary at this point is the best idea. Verbs, places, time, direction words, family members, colors; all the super important things that you would likely want to talk about on an every day basis. Just build it up for a while.
4. Grammar!
I feel like once you have a substantial amount of vocab knowledge, now is the time for you to be focusing in on grammar. Of course at this point you already may have noticed a few things without having studied it, but now you can really dig into the grammar rules and start learning how to put together your own sentences. Thanks to all the vocab you now know, you should be able to construct sentences/hold conversations and talk about your self on at least a basic level, ask for directions, order food at a restaurant, things like that.
5. Get more comfortable with the past and then the future tense
Once I’m comfortable with the present tense, I focus on learning past, and then future tense (and if we’re talking Spanish, the 1,000 other tenses 😒) Once you’re finished with this point, I consider myself having created a solid foundation. Now all I have to do is decorate it! :)
6. a. Expand on vocabulary, then b.expand even further on grammar.
When you’re at least somewhat comfortable enough to recognize when sentences are in present, vs past, vs future,it’s time to hone your skills! Now is the time to learn all of that not-your-everyday-conversation type vocab, like more specific colors or body parts, outer space, less popular animals, more places and verbs, etc. This is where I typically try to get all fancy with sentence enhancers (aka adverbs, adjectives, idioms).
Going back and forth, repeating steps 6a and b.
You can never have too much vocab or grammar knowledge; it just keeps growing and growing.
Gee, writing this list out makes language acquisition seem like a short and easy process lol, but we all know it takes so much time and dedication. Once you’ve done all of this, I think you should be about at an intermediate level (on paper at least). It sucks not having anyone to practice speaking with, right? 😭 For the longest time I didn’t have anyone to speak any of my languages with. Now that I’m older, I guess I just have no shame in my languages. I walk around my house speaking Korean all the time. I get my pronunciation from dramas and music. I speak Spanish with my coworkers at my job. But if you really have no one, just sing! Or repeat things out loud that you hear in the movies or shows you watch.
So yea, I definitely know for a fact that it can be done. You already have a tumblr account, so that’s good. There are so many resources here. Notes, links, friendly people who will answer your questions the same as a teacher would, friendly people who will chat with you in your target language. Then there’s youtube, and there are endless apps and websites dedicated to teaching languages. I said it once and I’ll say it again, folks: Don’t underestimate the power of the internet! We can do so much on here, and for free. Take advantage of everything, and learn to work with what you’ve got, and when I say that, I mean both tangible and intangible factors. So much of how quickly and effectively you will learn, is based off of how well you do that (work with what you’ve got). If you know you love music, use it to learn. If you’re a doodler, draw out your notes. Some people like the sticky notes thing. If you’re like me and like to travel, go to countries that speak the languages and force yourself to talk to people. If your interest in languages and or motivation to study comes in waves (like me again haha), then work with that. Realistically, that happenes to a lot f us, I think. I stopped trying to fight it. If I am studying Korean for 2 months and suddenly I just want to study Spanish for 5 days, then I just do it, otherwise trying to force myself to study becomes a drag. I don’t ever want this to become a task for me rather than being fun.
Sorry this became so long 😭 but I really hope it helps! I’m considering starting Arabic, btw. I definitely want to start a new one this year, I just don’t know yet whether I want to start learning French again, or start learning Arabic or Mandarin. Anyway, happy studying!! :)
