The First Time Kristin & Daniel Danced

Kristin is having a bad day. Even beer and Porky Pidgeon Pizza and some particularly bad puns from Daniel haven’t gotten her to crack a smile. Daniel resorts to desperate measures, finding her favorite song that he downloaded onto his phone despite the fact that he doesn’t personally care for it, and connecting to her bluetooth speakers to play it while she’s cleaning up in the kitchen. By the time he comes up behind her at the sink, she’s humming and swaying to the beat. He slides his arms around her middle, leans in to kiss her cheek. 

“I thought you hated this song,” she whispers and he can hear her teasing smile without seeing it. 

“Hm… It has a good beat,” he replies, settling his hands on her hips that are shimmying to the rhythm, reminding him of the last time he had his hands on her hips and she was moving to an intoxicating rhythm all her own. She turns around, all but dancing, in the circle of his arms. He steps back, pulling her away from the sink, spinning her, making her laugh. And then they’re dancing around the kitchen for the entire song until it finally goes out with a bang that has her falling against him, panting and laughing. 

“Why haven’t you ever danced with me before?” she asks. 

He replies, “You never asked. Or do you think only a man can ask a woman to dance?” 

She laughs and kisses him, and he promises himself he’ll dance with her whenever he has the chance.

... So... This brings up the question: What's Kristin's favorite song?

6. 3 characters that inspire you

Delenn (Babylon 5). She has been my main source of inspiration for many years now.

Lucy Preston (Timeless). If I ever finish my phd, this will happen only because of her, because goodness knows I can barely look at my dissertation at this point, I’m so tired of it lol

Roberta Pellegrino (Il Paradiso delle Signore). There are many wonderful characters in this tv show that inspire me, but probably the one who taught me the most is Roberta, whose character journey gave me strength to work hard, to dream, and to not be afraid to live my own life.

15. 3 quotes that have a special place in your life

“How rare and beautiful it truly is that we exist”, a line from Saturn by Sleeping At Last.

“I didn’t know that similarity was required for the exercise of compassion!”, words said by Delenn in Babylon 5 s2ep18. I think about this quote very often.

“Io imploro il destino / E sei tu che rispondi”, a line from Ho cambiato i piani by Arisa (translation: “I implore fate / And it is you who answers”).

Okay, movies:

La vita è bella (1997). Oooooooooooh the amount of tears that I cried watching this movie could fill an entire ocean.

The Sound of Music (1965). I just love this movie very much, and I cried both happy and sad tears.

Klaus (2019). An animated movie that I watched four times. Cried every time.

Tv shows:

Babylon 5. I bawled my eyes out when I was watching the finale.

X Company. Can’t remember any other tv show that made me cry multiple times every single season.

12 Monkeys. Yeah, I cried, and I cried hard.

Daniel Jack McClennan's (Warren Schoenbright; Why Patterns) latest solo album is a poignant emotional minimalist avant-garde solo piano work, that transcends mere notes and melodies—it delves into the very essence of what it means to be human.

2) MICHAL GUTMAN 'Never Coming Home'

This debut solo album is a lyrical post-punk work characterized by emotive vocals, reminiscent of Beth Orton and Kristin Hersh. Michal Gutman is a multi-talented musician, performing solo with a bass guitar, loop station, two mics, and a touch-pad synthesizer.
