Since we're still lacking Hermann and Newt's bios, I try to look at Guillermo del Toro's other work for ideas of what he might have had in mind for them - because if the man really likes an idea, he'll inevitably revisit it.
Today I took a quick gander into the Trollhunters novel (written by Guillermo del Toro and Daniel Kraus) and saw this little bit that I think Hermann Gottlieb enjoyers might like:
She came from across the pond. Oh, I forgot to mention that. Claire Fontaine came from the UK. That’s right—the girl had an accent. I think you’re starting to get the picture here.
All I can say is that Europeans must be way ahead of us in math. That’s the only explanation for the way Claire tore apart equations. You could see the chalk crumbling to dust in her fist. When she was done—it never failed—she slammed a period on the end of the equation like she was finishing a sentence.
“Punctuation remains unnecessary,” Pinkton said. “But nice job, Claire.”
She exhaled like she’d just pinned an opponent. As she took up the eraser and wiped the board clean, Pinkton wrote a new line of gibberish and began surveying the class for the next casualty.

there is so much going on in this photo and i am riveted. the look on Athena’s face. Bobby’s hyper vigilant look that would make Mad-Eye Moody proud. Julian taking a dramatic break to do Shakespeare in the Park. Norman trying to think of ten synonyms for strumpet. The captive Lola, said strumpet, wishing she had quelled her strumpety urges with rope wrapped around one palm.
it’s art, is what i’m saying.

There are several episodes of 911 and Station 19 I keep going back to. Both shows can get very serious but Station 19 is more heavier in tone than 911 as it is more outlandish and unserious. I praise both shows for being authentically true to their audiences and characters and allowing them to fully be fleshed out, complex, nuanced characters that I love. From Hen, Buck, Bobby, Athena, Maddie, Eddie, to Vic, Andy, Carina, Maya, Jack, Travis, Dean, these characters have been through it all and still, they are the most beautiful, unique and most memorable characters I have seen in years. I thank Oliver, Angela, Peter, Kenneth, Ryan, Aisha, Stefania, Danielle,Jaina , Jay, Barrett, Grey for bringing these characters to life.

Who cares ;) hehe I joke—obviously! Such a fun episode, loved seeing Bobby being so resourceful, that whole moment with the make-shift harness and Norman on the pool table was hella stressful but hella good 👏🏻

SKIN (2018) Grade: C+
Started off really good and grabs ur attention, had a good cast of supporting characters. Lost some steam in the 3rd act. Interesting plot for a film based off a true story.

Krause Glucke eingeweckt

The Dreams of Nebuchadnezzar
The Dreams of Nebuchadnezzar is my second Fringe (click for show times) review. The show is written by Jesse Krause and features him, along with the Riel Gentlemen’s Choir, and Sara Clefstad. The show is based on the book of Daniel chapters 1-7. If you have the time, I would encourage a read through of these chapters before taking in the show. Stage for The Dreams of Nebuchadnezzar. Remembering Dismembrance: A Critical Compendium - Daniel Takeshi Krause
Tumblr media
This is one of my favourite books a strange meta-fictional adventure, written as an essay on a fictional piece of work known as Dismembrance. Now that description sold me on the book straight away, that and the title, the titular Dismembrance is described quite vaguely in-universe, but it seems to me as if it is a novel that can be re-written at will by the general audience, a unique and interesting concept in and of itself, with segments coming from peoples memories, as such this book garnered a lot of critical literary study. Remembering Dismembrance frames itself as a compendium of all of these such literary analyses (all of which being fictional and written by Krause remember). This book is about memory, how it can change and develop over time, how our memories can never be perfect, and how we perceive the memories themselves. It is also about how we come together to analyse and understand the world around us. How community shapes us, and how it can shape our view of the world around us.

i am having a very hard time accepting that i am supposed to be understanding about the fact that someone who holds that much authority and a loaded weapon can go around doing things like that…that because they are in a highly emotional state, steeped in grief and soul-crushing heartbreak, that somehow makes their actions okay.
it doesn’t. in fact, it’s in those moments i would pray to god that people who own weapons would have better control of their emotional responses and how they react in the most unimaginable circumstances. they didn’t pull the trigger sure, but wasn’t it the same character who also said that even just the act of pulling a weapon on someone is a crime and therefore, wrong?
this isn’t something i am putting out for debate. i am processing this information and i am trying to find my way back to a place where i can make sense of this.
addendum: i almost missed the irony of the fact that the same woman who instigated the conversation about the harm of simply pointing a weapon at someone...was Lola Petersen from the cruise and in both episodes, our main character's opinion of this character and their actions on that day was pretty fucking clear.
