‌ یکی از بهترین #عکاس های #پرتره ای که میشناسم دنی دایموند (@danidiamondphotography ) هست. دنی بیشتر برای روش #ریتاچ و #ادیت عکس‌هاش معروفه ؛ و صد البته به خاطر رینگ لایت دست سازش !‌ ‌ دنی توی کانال #یوتیوب خودش در مورد #رینگ_لایت خلاقانش صحبت کرده و بهمون گفته چرا بجای خریدن یکی از رینگ لایت های توی بازار ، خودش دست به کار شده و یکی ساخته.‌ ‌ پ.ن ۱ : خودم قراره یکی از همینا رو بسازم. این روزا درگیر نقل و انتقال به دفتر جدید هستم. بعدش که مستقر شدم می‌سازم.‌ ‌ پ.ن ۲ : برنامه کلاسامم از سر میگیرم البته PPPS. All of Dani diamond’s photography is taken in soft natural light, taken on a foggy early overcast morning, lightening up the faces and bodies of the subjects form, this creates a soft shadow on the landscape and on the soft curves of the models. Although there are not alot of harsh shadows, the soft shadows create a whimsical appearance. The shadows create character in the clothing on the body and face, creating the soft shapes to form interest and structure.The faces are not facing the lens, the back and neck bend in ways to enhance the beauty of the bodies curve like a sculpture. The unusual expression creates and position of the body creates an interesting photograph.

Movement is frozen in motion, shutter-speed between 1/125-1/260 as the subjects are not in a movement, frozen the purposeful positions. Aperture is medium as the backgrounds are not entirely in focus although the subjects are sharply in focus, mid to wide framed photographs, the body reflects the background, f/6-f/15, the focus of the photographs are on the character of the subjects body language. Colours unsaturated as Diamond decided to use more dull subtle colours to enhance the moody atmosphere by paying attention to the light quality, shadows and highlights portrayed onto the shapes of the bodies, this enhances the character of the portrait combined with the nature of the background. The contrast of the highlight of the fog to the depth of the shadows creates an interesting element of the photograph and draws the viewers eye in. This reduction of saturation simplies the photograph enhancing the curves of the shape of the body, which is where the human eye first heads towards.The beauty of the background is cohesive with the subject as they both reflect colour-wise and with the curves.

Photographs seem emotionally due to the soft colours connotations to be more depressing. The exaggeration of the body becomes dramatic, reflecting the mind of the subject through its figure.The subjects are in the center and taking up most of the shot. The background are simple and not distracting which brings the focus back to the eye of the subjects enhancing their emotion.

My Portrait by Dani Diamond for "The Project"

Let's face it, typically photographers hate portraits of themselves. Retouchers, probably more. Maybe it's just me.  Dani Diamond started a series called The Project where he took on this daunting task of taking headshots of photographers! He wanted to embody their personalities and exemplify what they're about. 

Recently, Dani came to the Bahamas where I was also there teaching a workshop for Fstoppers. Dani is a fellow writer at Fstoppers and he wanted to take mine. The issue was I hated headshots! So he was in for a challenge.  I'll let him tell you the story from his perspective: 

If I were to pick the most stressful headshot I've had to take as of yet, it would definitely be this one! Even though this project is mainly a photographers project, I've made exceptions before and I'm doing it again now. The truth is, Pratik in fact, does take photos but he's well known across the globe for his retouching.

My palms were sweaty while taking this shot because anyone who is familiar with Pratik knows that he doesn't enjoy being in front of the camera. Not only that, he's a bit mysterious and he uses photos he's retouched as profile pictures. I knew if I wanted to satisfy him I'd have to stay true to what Pratik is all about. Additionally, Pratik deals with top-notch work on a daily basis and an ordinary headshot wouldn't cut it.

Two weeks ago I had the honor of meeting Pratik in the Bahamas where we both went to be a part of the Fstoppers workshop (he gave one, and I listened in on a few). After 3 years of getting to know him through social media, I finally met him face to face and the first thing I asked him was if I could add him to The Project. I ended up taking this portrait in a cabana using natural light only. Of course, I asked Pratik to add his magic touch and do the retouching for this one.

After it was over, I saw the shot he had in mind as the final as I was amazed. Dani was right, I hate photos of myself! Until Dani took mine. As we met, he would analyze my personality and embodied everything in this shot. I suddenly realized what a gift photography actually is when you're the recipient of something that makes you feel incredible. I'll never forget this portrait of me.
