A Dampfnudel (German pronunciation: [ˈdamp͡fˌnuːdl̩]; lit. 'steam noodle'; plural Dampfnudeln, Alsatian: Dampfnüdel) is a dumpling eaten as a meal or as a dessert in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and in France (Alsace-Moselle). It is a typical dish in southern Germany.

Dampfnudeln are made from a dough composed of white flour, water, yeast, salt, butter or margarine, and sometimes also eggs and a little sugar. The dough is formed into balls about the size of an egg, left to rise and then cooked in a covered pot, preferably a high-rimmed iron pan with a lid, either in a mixture of milk and butter (the Bavarian style) or salt water and fat (the Rhineland-Palatinate style) until a golden-brown crust forms at the bottom after the liquid has evaporated. 4. favourite dish specific for your country?

Oh man, that's so hard because I love foooooood 😀

I think this one might surprise you, but it's a sweet main dish called Dampfnudeln. These are sweet yeast dough dumplings/biscuits that are cooked in a tightly closed pan in a small amount of sweetened milk which caramelizes as the dough rises and they're served with vanilla sauce in my home 😀 My mom makes awesome ones, as did her mom before her. I haven't tried making them myself yet, I'm a bit scared of fucking them up, lol.

When it comes to savory stuff, I really like savoy cabbage with potatoes and smoked sausages or sauerkraut with smoked ham 😀

Or of course our Christmas goose with bread dumplings and red cabbage... Or gran's Streuselcake... I just love good food, lol.

26. does your nationality get portrayed in Hollywood/American media? what do you think about the portrayal?

I mean, Germans usually show up either as Nazis or caricature Bavarians. If the movie is set in or around WW2, I'm fine with the Nazi stereotype as that's what most people were. Maybe not as gung ho as Hollywood likes to make it seem, but at least we confronted that past and tried to reconcile with it and make amends. Something the US hasn't done with most of the atrocities in their past.

I'm honestly more annoyed with the caricature Bavarians as I personally don't like that kind of brass band music, though I do look great in a Dirndl 😉
