Daminette December 2023: 27-Be Positive

CONTINUATION OF 12-BETRAYAL

"Are you sure it's okay to have a watch party here at your place, Alya?" Lila questioned.

"Are you kidding me?" Alya cried out, "It's not every day we get to see your boyfriend, Damian Wayne, on TV!"

"Did you really invite the old class?" Lila asked.

"It's like a mini reunion!" Alya giggled, "We still don't know where Marinette is, so she won't be here, if that's what you are worried about."

Lila remained silent. Marinette hadn't gone to high school with the rest of them. The class had asked her parents, but they just said she transferred elsewhere. There wasn't any reason to bring the baker's daughter into the mix that day. No one had seen her in years and as far as they knew, she never went home.

"I'm so glad we can watch it togther." Lila smiled, "I would have been there, but I have to fly with my mother to Italy tomorrow so I couldn't go."

Soon, everyone arrived. They got snacks and drinks, ready to watch the Wayne Christmas Gala on the TV.

"The Wayne family is finally here!" the announcer declared, "It seems we have the whole family in attendance! Bruce Wayne and his fiancée, Selina Kyle. We have Dick Grayson and it seems his wife and daughter aren't here this time. It seems a miracle is upon us; Jason Todd is in attendance. We also have the Co-CEO of Wayne Enterprise tonight, Tim Drake."

"It seems Damian Wayne decided to join us tonight." the announcer continued.

"I can't wait for you to see him!" Lila cooed, "I wish he had more free time so he could come to Paris and meet you all! He's so handsome!"

Damian appeared on the screen.

"Oh, he is cute."

"Not really my type, but okay."

"He looks like this dad."

"Is it me or does he look pissed off?"

"Oh, it seems he brought his newly announced fiancée, Marinette Dupain-Cheng!" the announcer declared.

Lila's jaw dropped.

"Marinette!"

"Woah! She looks completely different."

"She grew her hair out! It's so long!"

"Remember whn she wore pigtails?"

Both Damian and Marinette stopped in front of the cameras for pictures.

"For those of you who don't kno the story behind Gotham's couple, it all started when Marinette Dupain-Cheng joined Wayne Enterprises at the age of eighteen." the announcer spoke, "At the age of twenty, she was running their fashion department and that is when Damian met her. Damian Wayne has stated in several interviews how he was , at first, determined to close down the department. That desire is wheat led him to meet her. We have learned that she did not cater to the Wayne ego and told him to leave her alone. Over time, Damian kept a watchful eye on her and even went as far as accusing her of seducing him. When he confronted her, months later, she punched him and quit. Bruce and Timothy Drake-Wayne begged her to stay, even attempting to raise her commission price to $200,000 for every design her completed."

The room was silent as they listened to the couple's tale.

"In the end, Marinette only desired Damian to apologize." the announcer laughed, "Our local Ice Prince then confessed he had found her attractive and distracting. It has been five years since that fated day when they started going out."

Across the screen showed pictures of the out on dates, walking in the park, eating at resturants; both cute and fancy.

"Just last month, Damian Wayne proposed." the announcer spoke, "Let's see if we can get a word in. Mr. Wayne, Miss Dupain-Cheng, there's a question viewers are dying to know."

"Maybe, we can answer." Marinette replied.

"Aside from her beauty, what drew you to dating Miss Dupain-Cheng?" they questioned.

Marinette covered her mouth, but the audio picked up a slight snort.

Damian blushed, "I was raised by my mother who taught me women were meant to be valued by thir strength, not their appearance. Marinette showed me how strong she was; that day I asked her out after she punched me in the face. Marinette is kind, smart, strong, a leader, and confident. I couldn't imagine anyone else by my side."

"Thank you for you answer, Mr. Wayne." the announced replied, shcoked, letting them walk off, "Well, there you have it folks. Out Ice Prince was dethawed by some heated words and a heated punch by Gotham's very own Sunshine!"

The TV cut to commercial and all hell broke loose.

"Lila, what the hell was that?"

"Didn't you say you were dating Damian Wayne?"

"Yeah!"

"Why is he with Marinette?"

"Why is he engaged to Marinette?"

"Are you 100% positive that you're dating Damian Wayne?"

"You think she's lying?"

"I just want to make sure before we blast Damian Wayne online as a cheater!"

"He cheated on Lila and deceived Marinette! The media is saying he's been with Mari for five years! Lila said they've been together for two years!"

"Do you have any pictures? We can use that as proof!"

"Knowing Marinette, she may just say that you're 'lying again'. She wouldn't believe you!"

Lila gulped, "I-I was lied to."

"Huh?" questioned Nino.

"The person I was dating said he was Damian Wayne, but he doesn't look like the guy on TV. I was too speechless when he came out on the screen to say anything. I'm sorry for the confusion." Lila admitted.

"Well, you better call him and tell him you just saw the Wayne Gala and know he isn't the real Damian Wayne!" shouted Alix.

"Wow! I can't believe that Marinette has been in Gotham!" spoke Nathaniel.

"Are your kidding? She's engaged to one of the world's billionares and is and is a fashion director for their company!" Kim exclaimed, "I wonder when she is coming back."

"Why would she come back here?" Adrien questioned, "Paris may be the fashion capital, but why would you lose a really good job like that?"

"Marinette's about to become Mrs. Wayne!" Rose cried out, excited.

Lila stood up, suddenly.

"Hey, are you okay?" Alya asked.

Lila had tears in her eyes, "I-I need to make a call."

"Do you need one of us to go with you?" Mylene asked out of concern.

Lila just shook her head.

Lila left the room, sobbing. After all she had done, Marinette had still won. Marinette had moved on. The baker's daughter had left the losers behind and rose the ranks to glory. She was on the verge of being fired from Gabriel. Adrien wasn't dating her, still, and was dating some other model from Shanghai. She was positive that Marinette hadn't thought of her in years. She had ruined her own life by turning Marinette against her. She had turned the person who would be the richest into her enemy and she knew she would never get a chance to have the life she desired.

Daminette December 2022 Day 1- Ice

@maribat-calendar-events (forgot the tag yesterday)

The quiet murmur of people filled the banquet hall, as business leaders and political figures mingled. The venue was beautiful if a bit dull, with a monochrome color scheme it was classy but not very exciting to look at. What really caught people's attention was the intricately carved ice sculpture in the middle of the room.

Six feet tall, the crystal ice depicted a peacock in full plumage. Each feather was meticulously carved in detail and the whole piece was lit up with purple, blue and green lights. Everyone's eyes were drawn to the sculpture. Well… most people's eyes.

“26…27…28…” In one corner of the room, the Wayne children, both honorary and adopted, gathered and watched as Stephanie tossed mini quiches into Jason’s mouth. The longest streak they had going was 40 before Tim accidentally walked into the middle of it and got hit by a tiny meatball.

Some of the Wayne kids were more into it than others. “This is absurd. We’ve been watching this for an hour.” To no one’s surprise, Damian was the first to complain. “At this point we may as well just talk to those capitalist scum and coerce their money from them.”

“31…32…” 

“I’m going to stop you right there Babybird. Marinette?” Marinette took a hold of Damian’s hand both calming him down slightly and preventing him from leaving and starting trouble. “Thanks. The one goal we have been given tonight is to cause as little a commotion as possible. If you go and talk to those people, you’re going to end up stabbing one of them. I love you Damian, but no.”

“Can we at least do something else then? Watching Todd eat is disgusting.”

“Well what do you suggest?”

“Oh! I know! Let’s play ‘Would you rather’” Marinette suggested excitedly. Domain nodded his head in agreement. 

“Ok, let’s do that. I’ll start.” Dick thought for a moment “Would you rather… fight condiment king or cluemaster?”

“That’s an easy one. Cluemaster.” Damian looked over at Marinette and raised an eyebrow. “What?”

“Cluemaster? Seriously? I understand that he’s not a particularly difficult opponent but, would you honestly choose the tougher of the two opponents?”

“Look, I’ve tried to get mustard stains out of clothing before. It’s not worth the trouble. And do you think I’m going to be scared of some guy who asks trivia questions? Next to riddles, trivia questions are my forte.” 

Looking up from his phone, Tim glared at Dick. “Nice going. You started a lover’s quarrel in one sentence.” Dick just rubbed his temple to get rid of his headache.

“Ok but, it will take far more time to take down Cluemaster. If I have to fight either of those embarrassments then I want to make it go by as quickly as possible.” 

“I can’t believe,” Marinette looked at him with utter betrayal on her face. “The next time you fight Condiment King, you can get the stains out yourself. Duke, you're with me on this right?” 

Duke pondered the question for a moment before nodding his head. “Yeah. Honestly, if I don’t have to look at Condiment King then I won’t.” He shuddered a bit. “It’s a horror show.” Marinette pumped her fist in victory. At least before Cass stepped closer to Damian, proving where her loyalties lied.

“Et tu, Cass?” Stephanie looked over from where she was still throwing food at Jason. She swiftly abandoned the hor d'oeuvres  and raced to where Marinette was standing. “I’m with Paris over here. I’ll take any chance to beat the living tar out of Cluemaster.”

Damian clicker his tongue. “You're biased, your opinion doesn’t count.”

“It definitely counts, you little Gremlin. I dare you to say that to my face.”

“Are you deaf, Brown? I just said it to your face.”

Before Stephanie could rush over, Dick got in between the two groups. “Ok, settle down. It’s a hypothetical question. No need to get so heated up about it. How about we move on.” They all looked at each other and nodded in silence to leave things alone for now. “Ok…” He paused for a moment, taking suspicious glances at everyone, not believing their easy acceptance. “Who wants to ask the next question?”

Before anyone else could speak up, Jason decided it was time for a bit of chaos at this Wayne gala. “Who would you rather have on your side, Wonder Woman or Superman?” And just like that, the lines were drawn, and there was no going back. Tables were set up dividing the opposing camps.

And it wasn’t long before shots were taken. When they were later questioned by Bruce who threw the first the first creampuff, no one could remember, but from there it turned into a full blown food fight that Dick was helpless to stop. When a stray mini cheesecake hit another patron, all chaos broke loose, as people tried to shuffle away from the war happening in the corner. But people couldn’t move fast enough. Soon, guests were bumping into each other, trying to prevent the deserts from ruining their clothes valued at thousands of dollars. 

And that was when tragedy struck. As a socialite desperately tried to flee, she bumped into a big named politician. The momentum of the push caused him to stagger, and unable to stop, he crashed into the ice sculpture at the center of the banquet hall. With the sudden deafening shattering of the ice, silence consumed the room.

A few moments later, Bruce walked into the hall from the balcony and abruptly stopped. The event that was once simple and elegant now had food stains on the wall, ice melting all of the floor and his family was there in the corner, looking straight at him, no guilt in their eyes. Feeling the headache build in the back of his head, Bruce took out his phone and called the PR representative to try and salvage the situation.

"...you fucking got away," Damian says in a disbelieving tone. 

Marinette smiles, "indeed I did."

"You fucking got away!" Damian says again in a happy and excited tone.

"You fucking got away!"

Damian starts to jump up and down and is shaking, smiling wide he takes her hand and whoops.

"I fucking got away!" Marinette says and joins Damian in celebrating.

All the while the batfam is standing behind Damian confused. "Uh...Damian? You gonna introduce your friend?" Jason is finally the one to speak up after a few minutes of watching the two teens.

Damian freezes and clears his throat. "...right. Todd, Grayson, Drake, Brown, Father, meet Marinette Dupain-cheng. My childhood friend."

"Your WHAT?" Tim screeches, he's standing just behind Jason while peaking around him to stare at the teen girl still holding Damian’s hand.

Marinette notices his staring and looks down at her's and Damian’s hand still entwined. Both teens blush and let go.

"Aww, Dami! You make our relationship sound so bland! We were enemies too!" Marinette sing-songs and Damian looks just about ready to forget all about the moment they just had.

"Oh my fucking god. The Demon Spawn has an enemy to lovers relationship none of us know about!" Jason ever the poet says.

"Why does she get to call you Dami and I don't?!" Dick says.

"She's so cute! Bruce, you have to adopt her, or 𝘐 will!" Stephanie says and from there the batfam descends into chaos. 

While the others are fighting, Bruce asks a question to Damian and Marinette. 

"Childhood friend? Is she an assassin?" Everyone freezes while Marinette smirks and takes a theatrical bow. 

"Not exactly, Marinette Wilson, mercenary extraordinaire at your service. "

Damian groans, "Marinette I was so close to not being interrogated. So, 𝘴𝘰 close"

Ethel’s Christmas Calendar (that is hopefully going to last until the 31st of December)

So! I’m not joining Daminette December this year (I might have sort of fallen out of the ship at some point, still obviously respect all the people who do like it, and I’m just as much a Maribat fan still!) but I am writing Constagami/DamiGami December with @pl-panda. He wants to counter my angst with DamiGami fluff so let’s see what’s going to happen.

...Yes, I have actual fluff coming up too. I promise. I’m not a complete monster.

The number up front is the day I will try and hopefully succeed to update this series. The words in the middle are the title, and the numbers in the brackets are the number of the prompts that I combined.

So I know I wrote that on day 30 I will be posting "Royals in White Dancing Under the Moonlight", but that prompt I have decided to elaborate on and write a whole book and publish it NEXT YEAR! But, I will be posting something else (Maribat Secret Santa, the basic outline of the story, and if you remember the result of the request raffle [in another book] that I announced on the 22nd of November) on the 25th of December don't worry.

Daminette December 2022: 27-Dress

Damian looked down at the paper in his hands and back up at the sign. This was BridalBug, exactly where Kori had sent him. Damian opened the door but he found no one was at the counter.

'Are the helping other customers?'

He looked around the shop and saw a girl with black-blue hair in a white dress. She wore a smile and twirling, as she looked at herself in the mirror.

"Angel." Damian spoke.

The girl halted and turned to look at him, startled.

"My apologies." he quickly stated, "I didn't intend to speak that way about another person's fiancé."

She giggled at his response.

"Um, no." she blushed, "Sorry, um, I-I'm not getting married. My friend is. She's running a bit late so she asked me to try some on for her. We're roughly the same size."

"Don't women usually have different tastes?" Damian asked.

"Yes, that is why I showed her some dresses and had her pick some. This was suppose to be her potentially choosing her dress and a fitting" she answered.

"Why would she ask you?" he questioned.

Marinette smiled, "This is my store; I'm the owner and designer behind BridalBug. I designed them all. I studied fashion design and somewhere in the middle of it all, I tuned to wedding dresses and tuxedos. I even do custom work. Oh, sorry. I'm rambling. Did you need help with something?"

"Yes." Damian replied, "I'm here to pick up a wedding dress for my sister-in-law."

"Oh! Um." Mari replied, looking down and then back up, "Let me change and I'll be right there!" rushing back to the changing room.

Damian Wayne picked up one of the catalogs on the counter with the store's name on it and thumbed through it. The dresses looked beautiful. She made the smart decision of charging extra for adding color or altering the design. If these were anything to go by, he'd bet that Grayson would faint at the alter at the sight of Kori. The suit didn't look boring either. There were even a couple that he would prefer to see in his wardrobe.

"Sorry for the wait!" she cried out, "Um, I'm Marinette Dupain-Cheng. Name?"

'How is she just as radiant out of the dress?'

"Kori Anders." Damian answered.

"Oh!" she smiled, "I love her dress! I won't say anything. I don't want to spoil the surprise."

Marinette handed over the dress bag, "My card is also in the bag. Have her try it on again, just to make sure everything fits. If she needs me there, that day to help her with it, she is welcome to call me."

"I don't know about her, but I know I will be back for a suit, Angel." Damian replied.

Marinette blushed as the gentleman walked out. Mari covered her face and looked down in embarrassment. She took notice of a card on her counter. It read: Damian Wayne with a set of number. It was also signed, 'Call Me Soon.'

'How did I get that guy to give me his number?'

The door slammed open, startling Marinette. She almost dropped the card.

"I was able to get free from practice!" Kagami shouted, "Let's try on the dresses, Hime-Sama!"

"Co-Coming, Kagami!" Marinette shouted back.

"What is with the red face?" she teased, "Daydreaming?"

"No-well, maybe before." Mari answered, biting her lip.

Kagami smirked, "What happened?"

"A new customer." the designer replied.

"Oh. Was he hot?" the fencer questioned.

Marinette nodded, earning a smile from her best friend.

"I was so embarrassing, though." Marinette whined, "I was wearing one of the dresses."

"He saw you in a wedding dress and asked you out?" Kagami frowned.

Marinette waved her hands in front of her rapidly, "I said it was for you."

"So, he found out you were single and then asked you out?" the bride-to-be questioned.

Marinette nodded, "He also called me Angel."

"Date him!" Kagami exclaimed, "If you don't, I'm cancelling the wedding to set you up on a date."

"No!" Marinette shrieked, "You can't do that to Adrien!"

"I'll call him right now." the fencer threaten, "He'd laugh and help me plan."

Marinette crossed her arms and pouted as Kagami analyzed one of her dresses in the mirror.

'Damn. Adrien would help her.'

"So?" Kagami prodded.

"I'll call him when we're done picking your dress." Mari answered, "Besides, he said he might be back."

Kagami smiled, "A man who doesn't hesitate. A worthy choice."

Marinette giggled as Kagami smiled in the mirror.

'Maybe.'
