Darry wanting a nice family photo with all the boys so he drags them to the crappy photo studio inside the department store. This was the only usable photo they got and it only happened because he promised Dairy Queen if they would all just stop messing around and look at the camera

#dallys like I’ll do it but I’m not going to be happy about it#seriously why does it look like someone just ran over his dog 😂#everyone else is like ok ‘tuff face activated’#and then there’s him#the outsiders#dallas winston#darry curtis#ponyboy curtis#sodapop curtis#two bit mathews#steve randle#johnny cade

Whatever you do don't think about post-book darry accidentally setting out too many plates after a real long day and his mind is just utterly exhausted. Everyone looking at him all confused because they didn't have that many people left and soda having to softly remind him that Johnny and dally weren't alive. Weren't coming back. Darry just softly responding with 'oh..sorry' as he remembers that they weren't coming back.

Why did I never realize that when Ponyboy introduces everyone in the musical, it’s all in present tense, except for Dally who he introduces by saying “every Wolfpack has its alpha, and ours WAS Dally”
#idk it’s just a really interesting choice to me#because even Johnny’s is done in present tense#it’s like this subtle hint that Dally is going to die#it’s also a really interesting comparison of how Pony accepts or doesn’t accept Johnny and Dally’s deaths originally#but maybe I’m reading way too far into it#the outsiders musical#the outsiders broadway

guys wdym there is discourse about dallys death being changed in the musical. hello. what is there to discuss. can the people use their minds for a moment on why maybe they didn’t want dallys actor to have to get shot by the police 8 times a week. let’s use some critical thinking skills.
#guys let’s be logical#y’all want a black actor to have to deal with the emotional burden of going through that 8 times a week#that’s insane like i know the musical death must be hard enough to get through#but doing the book/movie one???? like#you aren’t likely to get hit by a train you can separate your mind from that a bit#but getting killed by the police.#very different#please use your brain#the outsiders#the outsiders broadway#the outsiders musical#dally winston#dallas winston

me because I refuse to believe Johnny was the only thing dally cared loved. I just think he loved Johnny the most, and due to everything else that has happened in his life, when he lost the person he loved the most, that’s why he reacted in the way
#YOU CANT TELL ME HE DIDNT LOVE THE GANG#certified loser talks#WHY WOULD HE OFFER TO GO TO THE DRIVE IN RIGHT AFTER PONYBOY GOT JUMPED??#LIKE BRO DID NOT CARE ABOUT THE MOVIE#HE PROBABLY KNEW PONBOY LOVED MOVIES SO HE WAS LIKE “oh ya drive in”#to make him feel better abt being jumped :((#and then him getting arrested for two-bit knowing he could’ve gotten out of that#like don’t even#dally winston#the outsiders dally#dallas the outsiders#dallas winston#two bit mathews#sodapop curtis#steve randle#johnny cade#ponyboy curtis#darry curtis#like he loved them#just not as much as johnny#ponyboy unreliable narrator michael curtis#I mean from pony boy’s perspective he also believed Darry didn’t love him so it makes sense

i just nearly said “post canon pony convinces dally to give him stick n pokes” girl, post canon dally is DEAD. but yeah anyways
#like dally 100% did johnny’s tattoos#pony literally begs dally but dally knows far too well that darry (or the curtis parents depending on when this happens)#would be sooooo pissed#so he compromises with stick n pokes#they never end up going away LMAO#he has shitty stick n poke doodles on his arm for ever#he has a few tiny ones on his fingers and hands. a little sun :(#ponyboy curtis#dally winston#dallas winston#this is inspired by sky’s johnny tattoo btw#and the doodles in trevi’s pony shoes

thinking about how dally died with the shops money in his jacket pocket. the $13 dollars in his pocket still hanging in the inside of his jacket when he rolled over, dead, in the middle of the street.
thinking about how the cops reached and searched him while he lay on the ground, sticking their hands into each and every pocket, pulling out Two-Bit's switchblade, some cigarette stubs, two crumbled dollar bills, and his fake ID.
thinking about how two bit and steve stood watching, looking at the cops reach and pull from a lifeless body as if he had something against them. as if he could jump off the pavement and lift the heater off the ground and point it at them again.
thinking about the way they spoke over the radio to one another, confirming that the gun wasn't loaded, how there was nothing that could have harmed them if he had pulled the trigger.
thinking about how the young seventeen year old lay on the ground dead because they pulled their trigger instead.
thinking about how dallas winston died because he wanted to be. how he died, not thinking about the funeral that would be held for Johnny in the following days, not thinking about the clothing he had left at his room at Buck’s, not thinking about how he never got the chance to go back to the curtis house after the rumble.
never thinking, but always knowing he would get what he wanted.
#bro i actually cant be writing these things anymore#because what does it even mean#it makes no sense#this was only supposed to be like four lines#and ik this is completely going off the book#like ik that they probably didn't leave steve and two bit alone just watching dally lay there#and the book says that pony was at least alert when they took the switchblade#so i know its like off and whatever#but yk#different perspective or smth like that#anywayy#live dallas winston#i dont know what the point of this was#also idk how much thirteen bucks was back then#so plz dont come after me 🥲🥲#the outsiders#the outsiders 1983#dallas winston

I've seen a couple posts now talking about the concept of an AU where Vox somehow gains control over Alastor's soul/contract. While I do agree with the common take that he'd probably try to mind control Alastor or break his spirit at first, I think he'd actually get bored of that pretty quickly. Alastor's appeal is all in his personality; putting him in a situation where he just shuts down and stops giving the reactions that make him who he is would lose its novelty for Vox within a month or two.
Imo, from there I see it turning into a "gilded cage" situation. Vox sets up a nice little club for Alastor to live in; it's classy and Alastor is free to do what he pleases with it, but he cannot leave and whatever Vox says goes. It's a kind of faux freedom that's just tolerable enough for him not to go insane, but just restrictive enough that he still feels like some kind of pet. Vox isn't physically around that often, but he's always watching; Alastor's free to make his own choices, but can only chose from a small, pre-approved set of options. It's actually not too dissimilar to the situation he put his own contractees in, and Alastor loathes that fact.
#i saw a really good analysis post recently about vox as a collector#someone who doesn't break his favorite toys but puts them in a glass case instead#and that combined with this au talk#well it got me thinking#he'd put al on display for everyone to see but no one's allowed to touch him but *him*#he's up on stage all day singing for the patrons#he can pick the songs and can even go out and mingle with the customers#but he's always got to get back up there eventually. no dilly dallying.#redlady speaks#hazbin hotel#alastor#vox#radiostatic#radiosilence#onewaybroadcast#hazbin posting#it's 1 am and i feel like my ability to write coherently has dissolved into nothingness rip

ppl hating that darrys a dropout in the musical when pony makes a point in the first 3 mins of the show to say that socs get “graduation days” .. mind you darry won’t get to graduate college after working his whole life for it, soda dropped out of high school and will never graduate even though pony knows soda is smarter than he thinks he is bc greasers don’t get afforded the same luxuries and accommodations socs do to finish school, AND by the end of the story pony’s damn near ready to call it quits on living?? meaning what if he never graduates either??
#the outsiders#outsiders musical#darry curtis#ponyboy curtis#curtis brothers#sodapop curtis#sorry but i think it adds like eighteen new layers to darrys character#i will never shut up about this LOL#not even to mention that johnny and dally won’t get to graduate either like#it’s such a big achievement & while darry did graduate high school he WANTED to get out and go to college more than anything#idk i just. yeah

the outsiders fair hc
Ponyboy likes going to the animal exhibits, especially the duck exhibit it's his favorite.
Ponyboy and Sodapop beg Darry for the giant turkey legs. They never get them, they either leave before they can or Darry says they "have food at home".
Darry used to love going to the fair but after their parents died he had to skip going to it the first two years they passed since he didn't have enough money for it.
Dally's favorite part is the Demolition Derby but he never pays for his ticket so security chases him off around midday.
Sodapop and Steve do the couple rides together since evie and sandy left them(that's there names right?) it's there favorite rides in the park and they refused to give up their joy because they are single
Johnny doesn't pay to get in either but one of the curtis brothers usually pays for him a ticket so he doesn't get thrown out not that he's aware of it.
The only reason Johnny goes to the fair is because Dally brings him. Johnny doesn't actually like any of the rides or anything.
Two-bit absolutely loves the fair even though he usually gets kicked out for being too drunk in a "family fun zone".
Two-bit has also riden every ride there is in the fair and is constantly leaving letters in the recommendations box to get new rides
When the curtis family was all alive they went to the fair every year .
All of the curtis gang have at least one of those huge stuffed animals .
The tv in the curtis family house is from the fair their dad was really good at ring toss.
Johnny has a stuffed fox that dally won for him but he keeps it in ponyboy's room under his bed.
Darry's first ever date was at the fair and he tried to empress her with the ring toss like his dad, that was how he found out he sucked at ring toss but he did get a second date she thought it was sweet he kept trying to get her the stuffed animal.
Two-bit brings his sister every year it's there. It brings them closer.
The day Two-bit got out of rehab for his drinking his friends and sister took him to the fair on the last day it was there and it was the most fun he had in years even though everyone of them got thrown out.
After Dally and Johnny died no one went to the fair for a long time the next being when Two-bit got out.
Ponyboy thought about getting a job at the fair when he was young.
When Ponyboy was packing up for college he found Johnny's fox plush and had to finish packing the next morning having cried for not only the owner of the plush but the person that won it aswell.

The first Christmas after the Curtis parents die is not only the gangs first Christmas without them, it’s also their first Christmas without Johnny and Dally.
#just thought I’d remind every one of that#bc I just remember that#and it makes me inexplicably sad#like they go through so much loss in less than a full year#and I think they feel it especially during the holiday season#because there’s no more of Mrs Curtis’ famous Christmas dinner that she works extra hard on#there’s no Johnny sitting next to Ponyboy#there’s no dally behind them checking in on Johnny a little more than usual#there’s no Mr Curtis cracking a joke with Two Bit and Steve#suddenly their group is down to six when it used to be ten#:(#just thinking about how there’s no Dally for Ace to be looking up to#there’s no Johnny for Two Bit to be placing a hand on#there’s no more Curtis parents to make all these kids form broken homes feel parental love#the outsiders musical#the outsiders broadway#the outsiders#ponyboy curtis#darrel curtis#darry curtis#sodapop curtis#johnny cade#two bit mathews#dallas winston#steve randle#ace the outsiders#mrs curtis#mr curtis#the curtis parents

the thing is I have no idea how to put it into words but dally loves about as hard as soda does. just in a very different, very specific kind of way. soda loves everyone at first glance until it’s proven a mistake and dally loves only a few specific people so much it kills him.
#dally winston#dallas winston#sodapop curtis#the outsiders#the outsiders musical#I’m so fucking tired rn someone explain this for me. it’s in the thing with Sylvia and how he talks to Johnny driving back from dairy queen#it’s in how dally has and would’ve hit ANYONE for talking to him how he did at the drive in but not Johnny. never Johnny#it’s in his delirium after the rumble (how he hits & slumps against the wall begging Johnny not to die)#it’s in calling the gang for help knowing he was going to die anyway because he’d already been shot#but he didn’t want to die alone so he called them so he wouldn’t have to#it’s in how the only thing he does honestly is working with horses.#it’s in ‘you’ll die of pneumonia before the cops ever find you’#i just ugh. the phrase ‘hood with a heart of gold’ embodies him so bad#johnny didn’t have anything but the gang who loved him unconditionally; dally didn’t feel like he had anything but johnny because for him#the gang’s love WAS conditional. or so it seems sometimes. he was an outsider among outsiders and you can tell by the way pony talks#about him in the book. they were all a little scared of him. he wasn’t *quite* the same as the rest. it might be unconditional if it came#down to it but dally hadn’t lived a life where he could risk it.#my post
