Someone who plagues his thoughts as much as scorebooks and strategies? He isn't sure what to do with himself. With the need thruming under his skin he can't put a name to.

Not until they kiss. Till that spark turns into a wildfire and he looses himself to the heat. Expression dripping with want and not holding back on that desire. Subjecting his lover to a side of him that no one else has seen.

Writing this with Kuramiyu in mind because I like the idea of Kuramochi getting flustered, having no experience with this Miyuki.

these adventurous boys are all about thrill and excitement (even if it may not show outwardly for some of them at first!), and you can't help but get caught up in it. whether you're screaming your lungs out or perfectly calm on a roller coaster, he'll be holding your hand the entire time. when they show your pictures at the end, he'll get a copy and keep it as his wallpaper before he finds another fun ride for you to take on together.

I think Daiya didn't have time to enjoy his childhood that much as he had to take a parental role when he was really young, most of the time he played with Mondo it was more like he was just taking care of him instead of having fun... It's not like he's mad at Mondo about it, but he definitely regrets not being able to enjoy childhood

I think that when he got older he would try to be free and have more fun because he wasn't able to be like that before, he always had to be the caretaker of others, always the responsible one, so he kinda desires to be free and take care of himself, or for someone else to care for him

I RARELY see people tackle potential parents for Daiya and Mondo, so here they are!

I imagine Cassie met Hideo when she was in high school, but Hideo was a lot older than her. Regardless of that they hit it off fairly well, but things started to sour once Daiya was born. Hideo was a more distant father and refused to run his family's motor business beyond riding a motorcycle, so he refused to take any jobs while Cassie was left jumping from position to position. Despite that, I think Daiya still really looked up to Hideo as this cool mysterious figure. Whenever they'd talk it'd be about manly shit. And bikes. So it was all the more traumatizing when he fucked off a few months into Cassie's second pregnancy. Daiya was 7. I picked the name Hideo because its meanings both fit him, and are DEEPLY ironic (excellent, fine/outstanding, hero, manly, husband, and man). It was just too perfect.

Cassie's dad studied abroad in Canada for a while, and while he was there he met the woman who would be his wife. She didn't have much family left in Canada, so they moved back to Japan shortly after Cassie turned 3. I think their relationship was far more loving and they both gave Cassie their all, but they pressured her in her schoolwork and her relationships, and that began to dominate over their love for her. I think Hideo led them to disown her due to the path she went down after meeting him. She was starting to reach her boiling point with him, but after he left, she couldn’t take it anymore. It was the straw that broke the camel's back, and Cassie began to take it out onto Daiya shortly after Mondo was born in a combination of anger and stress. She was never violent with him and broke down crying more often than not, but she still heavily pressured Daiya into becoming a better man than Hideo was and getting frustrated whenever he or his interests were mentioned.

Daiya ran away when he was only around 12, and Mondo was 4. It was impulsive and remained incredibly complicated until he died. A lot of Hideo and Cassie's personality still stuck with Daiya despite everything, and some of their teachings were passed down to Mondo (Did I base most of Cassie and Hideo on that one line of dialogue in the Ch1 investigation? Yes). Mondo doesn't really know what either of them look like aside from fuzzy memories of Cassie, but I do think that they know who Mondo is all too well. Hideo mostly doesn't care, but I think that time spent alone made Cassie feel like she could've given them so much more. She wants to reconnect with Mondo, especially after Daiya's death, but she has no clue how to do that, so in the end she just never even tries.

Design wise I wanted to make it clear that Hideo is. Kinda a scumbag? I don't think Cassie ever finds this out, but he's absolutely cheated on her at least once. Very real chance that Daiya and Mondo have some siblings out there that they don't know about. I also wanted him to be a pretty big influence on Daiya's style of dress, hence the hair being similar to a pompadour.

Cassie was designed to have a lot of features that'd be considered charming. She's got the big ol' doe eyes with subtle heterochromia, she's got freckles, a cute little nose, a rounder facial shape, etc. and etc. Like if i designed how she looked in high school before she entered her deeply problematic relationship, she would have to look really sweet and cute.

I'm a big fan of the idea that the orange part of Mondo's hair is actually the natural part, and it grew back out after she dyed her hair to look more like Daiya's, so she started to use that part for the pompadour instead. She also got Hideo's eye colour and pupil shape, nearly his exact skin tone, his nose, and Cassie's slightly rounder face shape, albeit a bit taller.

Daiya got a very similar hair colour to Hideo, nearly his exact facial structure, a mixture of both Cassie and Hideo's skin tones, Cassie's freckles, her big ol doe eyes plus their hazel colour, and her nose.

Takaaki and Kiyotaka definitely have the same "Hahaha!" laugh and they just get stared at when they do it together. Mondo would be listening to that shit and lose it. Just like "No...please, not the both of them..."

Cliche and he’s not embarrassed about it

Will call you the love of his life, 100% seriously and with no shame

And not even in specific circumstances, he once barged into your class in third year calling you the love of his life

Get used to it, because while he won’t use any nicknames you don’t like his go to ones are always embarrassing

But also, calls you partner

It’s a big deal for him as a pitcher, on the field he trust his partner with everything and in fill that role in his life

Also likes being called partner for the same reason

Give him a silly nickname and he’ll be happy, doesn’t have to be romantic

Just something only you call him

Trouble and love-bug seem to have stuck too

Miyuki Kazuya

He calls you babe

And your first name, he puts a lot of stock in that

Will teasingly call you cringe and elaborate nicknames

Mostly just calls you by your first name though, you’re really only babe when he’s jealous or tired

I don’t think he calls you partner because his relationship with the word isn’t nearly as deep as Sawamura’s

You call him Cassanova as a joke because he’s so popular with the ladies

Otherwise he’s more than happy to hear you call him by his first name

Lovingly call him a smart-ass

He wants to be a babe guy, he’s a sweetheart guy

Like, he thinks babe is way cooler but it just doesn’t sound right to him

Isn’t really into using nicknames to tease you, they feel very personal to him

A romantic at heart

You call him Romeo because of how in love he is

It’s cute, until he finds out how that story ends and he demands a new nickname

So you call him my dear or Yo, and occasionally Romeo

Once he was feeling kind of self conscious and you called him Mr.Right, it doesn’t become a frequent nickname but whenever he’s down in the dump you use it

Random HC, but uh, I like to think personality-wise Daiya is the opposite of Mondo. Like, whereas Mondo tends to be rowdy, hot-tempered, and kinda awkward when talking to ppl, Daiya is more laid back, level-headed, and charismatic. I imagine that fed into Mondo’s insecurities a bit. :(

random daiya thoughts cause i'm re-reading the end of the manga. but, i find Miyuki and Mei's friendship so interesting especially when you add in HCs about Miyuki's mom. Like we only see Miyuki's dad and just a photo of his mom so everyone kinda headcannons his mom is dead (a worthy head cannon from what we're given) and the idea that Mei is probably the only person that Miyuki has a current, and future, relationship with that knew his mother. Like Mei being the only one of the people Miyuki currently talks to that actually met his mother and also knows she died, saw Miyuki right after she died.

And we know Miyuki and Mei will both go pro, either immediately or after college, and the idea of their odd relationship where they antagonize each other, and compete with each other, and have some resentment towards each other but they are also the only ones who know so much about each other, and part of that is Mei being the only person who knew Miyuki's mom besides Miyuki's father and the only one who was around when she died besides Miyuki's dad. Like, ugh, just thinking about the possibility of that makes their relationship even more interesting and deep fr. And how all of that continues into their future, especially if they get drafted in the same team or something. Literally, imagine.
