Fangfest 2024 - Day Thirteen - The Hanged Man

The holy diver, the bitter taste, the anarchist soothsayer and dive bar busker. Daimund! The Hanged Man, a card that represents surrender and sacrifice. Giving in and letting go and taking time to reflect. Daimund was Embraced in the middle of an overdose by some unknown Malk drifter and hardly ever comes down from his perpetual high. He's @thesixthplaneteer's first VTM character and a personal favorite. He speaks nearly entirely in lyrics, but everyone takes these references way too seriously. How truthful are his words? That's for someone to eventually find out. For a different concept of Daimund a few years ago we assigned the Devil tarot to him... things have changed but I'll post that WIP below the cut!

🚗 CAR — does your oc have a driver's license? can they drive/operate any automobiles/machinery besides cars? He probably doesn't have a driver's license actually. He still drives of course, he isn't going to let the absence of a plastic card stop him.

🎶 MUSICAL NOTES — what type of music does your oc like? do they listen to music very often? Daimund grew up in the age of rock and at the dawn of metal. So a pretty big spectrum of that.

🖤 BLACK HEART — has your oc killed or seriously wounded anyone before? have they broken someone's heart and/or broken someone's trust? Dude's an old school rocker type. If he's not leaving a trail of broken hearts then he wasn't there in the first place. lol but really he can easily use someone and drop them. He's not a good person by any stretch but he does try to not kill people but things happen when you live, or unlive, high and fast.

🎂 BIRTHDAY CAKE — when is your oc's birthday? how old are they? what are their sun, moon, & rising signs (if known)? what about their tarot card, ruling planet, & ruling number (if known)? do they fit the typical traits of these sun, moon, & rising signs? May 3rd, 1949. I have paid no minds to his signs before so I don't have much for this one. We do assign him The Hanged Man tarot though. He is a tragically tragic figure that is certainly not going to change anytime soon.

😊 SMILING FACE WITH SMILING EYES — what are your oc's career/general life desires? what do they want to get the most out of life? He wanted to be a rockstar but he got old and now he's a vampire. So he's on his fallback career path of toppling the government and breaking down society. But you know, the vampire government. (this includes Anarchs)

I have two OCs that jewelry is important to them. Both are vampires in VTM

Nythanel - He has several piercings in his ears and will always have jewelry to catch people's eyes. He wants to bring attention to his pointed ears. It's a little bit of a "look at me, I'm better than you" kind of thing.

Daimund - He wears several necklaces with crosses of all different makes and materials. The special one is on a shoe string thin strip of metal, and the cross is made of two rusted nails and wire. The others obfuscate it and keep it hidden, but it's very special to him. It was given to him by a homeless man that he had made friends with not long before he disappeared. He's also very cynical, so it's a little test to see if people can see beyond the shiney glittery necklaces to the "real" one.

Is there a particular type of jewelry (like rings, necklaces, bracelets, etc.) that your OC favors over others?

Oh mannn. How a kindred gets around the city is so important and can open some fun story or action scenes. It's def something I think about when thinking of characters.

Daimund: He has a red '77 Pontiac Firebird he obtained through strange and mysterious means, aka a flat head screw driver and pair of wire cutters. It's his transport of choice most nights and especially when taking the Goblin Roads. He makes his living as a courier, so he takes care of it.

Carmichael: He uses public transport. He was basically embraced and dumped, so he's still working out how to even get a car. But for the most part he is okay with the public transport, it helps him feel "normal" and gives him time to think as he looks dramatically out of the window at the city passing by.

Godwynn: He cares more about utility and functionality and never drives himself, that's what ghouls are for. So your standard black SUV type. He's really a horse girl. He will obsess over the breed and care of his horse far more than the make and model of a vehicle.

Nythanel: He has an electric motorcycle. It's quiet, fast, and sexy. He isn’t particular about make and model, just that it has to be an EV crotch rocket. Unless he is going somewhere with Noa, then she or a chauffeur will drive. He was never much of a car person, being close enough to NYC to ride his bicycle to a bus stop. Before the motorcycle, he had a scooter because he didn't need a license to drive it. He mostly likes the open-air aspect of it, feeling the wind as he goes down the road.

I had such a wonderful time with everyone's submissions for New Year's Ralph and fellow Nosferatu (and Quinn), that I would love people to draw their own Malkavians (or any other clan I really am not picky I LOVE seeing everyone) standing next to Daimund! I will once again smush any "submissions" into one piece for a big Malk meet up on February 14th! :D (Daimund is 5'10"!) 🍪 - What are their favorite scents?

realized I forgot Daimund in the scent thing so I'll answer these for him.

Daimund's favorite scent is the smell of fresh baked bread. It can take him back to when he was child before he found out how shit the world is and give him at least a moment of calm.

⚡ - Does this oc have any unusual or “irrational” fears?

Narrow alleys. Especially if they have trash bags in them. The night of his embrace was the lowest point in his life and unlife so similar looking scenes fill him with a type of dread.

🌈 - Do you associate any colors with them?

A kaleidoscope if it only had shades of red. I generally associate red with him. His hair is a bad dye job red, if he can manage it he will drive red cars, his band logo is red. Red being the color normally associated with anger, it's a little nod to his anger at the world and his lot in it.

Maybe Solaire seemed fun to party with, maybe his ghoul intended to fill it out herself before she passed out, or maybe he is looking for someone to help set up for the next show. Whatever the reason Daimund fills out the bingo card and somehow it got back to the right person. It's probably mostly truthful.
