Something Real
Chapter 2 - The Omega
Summary: When John got the mission assigned to him to retrieve an important item, he didn’t think nothing of it. With hardly any information presented to them, they were in the dark. But, what they found shocked them. Why didn’t they know about this facility? Maybe they didn’t want to know.
Parings: Poly 141 x OC (Louis Belmont)
Warnings: Alpha/Beta/Omega dynamics, Alternate Universe, I’m not an expert on military so there will be inaccuracies, panicking from Louis.
Author’s note: You guys have no idea how bad I want to do daily updates lol. But I have to force myself to do weekly updates so I won’t become burnt out. I have so many ideas for this story it’s not even funny. I want to just write little head cannons but don’t want to really spoil anything.
Previous Chapter —> Next Chapter
“So we have no idea what we’re supposed to retrieve?” It was quiet in the office as John Price sat at his desk. Laswell was on the other line, a small exhausted sigh came from her. It seemed like the higher ups were running her ragged as well.
“Not really. All they told us was that the item could either be extremely dangerous or not. Look Price, I don’t even know if the ‘item’ they’re talking about is even real. But if the higher ups want it, then it must be extremely important.”
John leaned back in his chair, it creaked softly under his weight, and let out a sigh of his own. He reached up to pinch the bridge of his nose, feeling a headache start to form behind his eyes. He’s been up for three days straight now dealing with paper work and the higher ups. He hasn’t even had the time to even take a quick nap.
“Right. This is exactly what I wanted. To go blind in a mission.”
It was eerily quiet as Ghost and Soap moved through the building, checking their corners and staying close together. When they touched down in Old Washington, there wasn’t any surprise to how old and rundown the city was. It was abandoned since the Omega War 33 years ago. No one but the desperate stayed here. So, when they finally managed to find the building they were looking for, surprise washed over them.
It was a hospital but the deeper they went underground, the more the hospital…didn’t look like a hospital. “What the hell is this place?” Soap muttered softly, his voice echoing lightly.
“No idea. But keep talking to a minimum. Dont know what’s here.” Ghost’s baritone voice doesn’t echo as much because of his mask but it didn’t make it less eerie. The walls were cracked and some had fallen in, the building creaked and groaned. They had to make this quick, but there was no way of knowing what the hell they were looking for.
But whatever this place was, it didn’t look like a basement to store things. As they passed by a few rooms, shining their lights in, they saw skeletons on the floor wearing lab coats. There looked like some medical equipment but looked more sinister than normal equipment. Soap felt a shiver move down his spine at the thought of what they did here. *Why are there so many skeletons? How many people died here?* he thought as a bead of sweat rolled down his temple.
It took them longer than they thought to make it to the last door. The door was different than the others. As the regular doors were made of wood and were small, this door was massive and metal. But, it was slightly ajar. The sign above it read ‘Cryo Chambers’
“Didn’t they say the item could be dangerous?” Soap spoke as Ghost glanced over at him and let his gun fall to his side. “Yeah, be ready for anything.” He muttered as he grabbed the edge of the door and with a grunt, began pulling it open. It was heavy even with Ghost being strong, it was still hard to open. But he managed to get it open enough to the point they could slip in. He grabbed his gun once more and stepped in.
Inside the large room it should have been dark, but it was dimly lit by the cryo pods that lined the walls. Some of them were off while others were on. But it looked like a lot of the people inside were dead. Soap and Ghost slowly moved down the middle, shock moving through their bodies. *What the hell were they doing down here?* was the thoughts that went through their minds.
Soap swallowed thickly as he saw that the people in the pods looked…odd. They were bigger than most but some had horns while others looked like they had wings. *Experiments? They were experimenting on people?* Soap felt anger move through his body but glanced over as he felt Ghost bump his side. The Alpha also looked angry, he could see it in his eyes. But there was nothing they could do.
At the end of the room was a larger cryo pod that was brightly lit. The small screen on the pod had the vitals of the person inside. The heart monitor was still moving and there was a green light on the screen. That had to be a good thing right? Ghost reached up and wiped some of the condensation off the glass. Inside of the pod lay a man with deep red dreadlocks that almost looked like blood in the light of the pod. His locs were loose, lying down over his shoulders and seemed to stop below his chest. His skin which looked to be umber had a dark-yellow tone to it which paired nicely with his hair. What caught Ghost’s attention the most was the black and silver gas mask that sat on his face. It didn’t cover his entire face just the bottom half of his face.
The life monitor also had the name of this person. Ghost looked at the monitor, reading the name: Louis Belmont. Then shock washed over him as he stared at the status below the name. Omega.
*An Omega? An honest to God Omega? Here?* he thought and looked over at Soap who was looking at the pod in anger and shock. “A fucking Omega? What the hell is this place?” The brunette breathed out and Ghost stepped back.
“I guess we’ll find out from him.” He looked around the pod for a handle or something to open it. It took a few tries but they finally managed to get it open and they quickly stepped back at the pod began to open.
Ghost watched as the omega’s eyes fluttered open, he was once again shocked and surprised as the whites of his eyes were black and his eyes were an extremely beautiful gold. The color looked like molten gold and was actually…glowing.
“Holy shit, L.T, you see what I’m seein’? ” Soap breathed out as the Omega’s body leaned forward and they were ready to catch it but they froze as his body turned into smoke, falling to the ground only to turn right back into a solid body. Soap breathed in sharply, both tensing up and not knowing what to do. Until the redhead took off his gas mask and took a deep breath only to start coughing. It was the type of cough that shook his whole body, making him hunch over in pain.
Soap moved first, moving over to the omega and placed his hand on the man’s back. He rubbed his hand slowly, trying to calm the man’s coughing down and once he finally stopped, he placed the mask back on.
Louis seemed to be processing what was going on as he slowly lifted his head and looked at Ghost. “Can you stand?” Ghost asked, silently cursing. Of course he can’t stand, he looked like he barely knew where he was.
“What…year is it?”
The man’s voice was scratchy, like he hadn’t used it for a long time. The labored breathing of the gas mask didn’t help either.
“3055.” Soap spoke up, still beside Louis and the omega’s eyes went wide from shock and disbelief.
“33 years? I’ve been in there for…33 years?” It sounded like all the air had left his lungs as he stared at Ghost in shock then down at the floor.
Ghost felt the urge to console him, make him feel better but he refrained from doing so.
“Soap, pick him up. We need to go.” Ghost watched as the beta nodded his head and fixed his gun before reaching down and picked up the man. The redhead had on black pants and a black muscle shirt that showed off his muscles.
“We have the target, Captain.” Ghost reported to Price, not wanting to say more until they got back to a safe place. Gaz nor Price will believe him until they bring the Omega in.
Pain. Pain. Pain. painpainpain. It hurts! It hurts! It hurts! Golden eyes shot open, Louis breathed in sharply as the pain seemed to intensify as he was now fully awake. His eyes frantically darted around at the figures above him, darkened out by the blindingly bright light above him. His heart was beating so hard he thought it would burst out of his chest. *No! Not again! Not this again!* Panic gripped his brain tightly and his breathing picked up speed, but his eyes locked onto the figure who was speaking.
"How is Louis behaving?" The voce was feminine as she was handed something, a clipboard.
Louis could hear the light fluttering of paper as she lifted the page to look at something. That's right, he was here again. The tests, the pain. It never seemed to end. It was like a loop of pain that got worse and worse over time. The Omega swallowed thickly, painfully. His mouth felt like it was stuffed with cotton, he couldn't swallow and it was hard to speak. "W-where...am I?" He managed to get out, his mind foggy. He had a vague recollection on where he was, but couldn't put anything together.
The pain was excruciating as he laid on that table, pain shooting through his body. He could feel IV's were in his arm, but he didn't know how many there were or what they were pumping into him. Louis's body twitched as jolts of pain shot through him and he gasped sharply, suddenly arching his back. Tears pooled in his eyes then rolled down his cheeks, he could hear himself sobbing, begging for the pain to stop.
He wished he could see the people above him, see their faces to memorize them. Louis wanted them to pay for making him hurt. Pain...pain...it hurts so much.
"He's doing surprisingly well with the chemicals in his body. It hasn't killed him yet." The voice sounded excited. It made him sick. "B-bastards." He croaked out and through his blurry vision, he could see their heads tilt down towards him.
"I'm surprised he can even speak. The pain must be excruciating. Fascinating." One of the figures reached out to wipe the tears from his sweaty face, he flinched at the touch, trying to focus on the person. But it was too hard to focus on anything, his head throbbed and it felt like he had ran a 10 mile marathon with no break.
"Hush now, child. This is for a good cause." Someone moved beside him and he let out a weak cry of protest as something sharp pricked his skin. A needle.
Louis felt his head become heavy and he let it roll to the side and looked at the person beside him. A woman, by the way she smelled. It was still hard to see and with his vision becoming more blurry by the second, he didn't try and focus anymore. "Go to sleep, Louis. The pain will subside." The voice was unnervingly calm, it made him shudder with discomfort. But his eyes started to grow heavy and the sounds around him grew slow and mixed together. He fought to keep his eyes open, but soon the blackness took him and he fell into a deep sleep.
Louis's eyes suddenly shot open and he quickly sat up, not hearing the surprised gasp from the nurse in the room. He was shaking from terror, trying to not have a panic attack. But it was hard, he was out of the cryo pod, was he back under testing? The Omega's eyes quickly locked onto a nurse who was standing a little away's from the bed. She looked like she was giving him space but his terror filled brain was telling him the opposite.
A scream of surprise was heard from his room as he slammed his shoulder into the door, slamming it open. He stumbled forward, falling into the wall. His eyes darted around the few hospital staff that roamed the halls. They were now frozen in shock and he narrowed his eyes at the military uniforms that some of them had on. His breathing became labored as he now realized he didn't have his gas mask, but when one of the staff moved forward, he growled loudly and stepped back. "Woah, calm down. No one here is going to- Wait!!"
Louis didn't give him a chance to continue as he turned and began running the opposite way. The alarms started going off as he ran down the hall, roughly pushing people out of the way. He dodged those who were trying to catch him. All the while he felt like his lungs were on fire, he felt and tasted blood on his lips, knowing his body was healing and decaying at a rapid rate. But he didn't care. If he was here, then they were going to do experiments on him again. He couldn't go through that again. Never again.
"There he is!" Louis panted hard as he skidded around the corner, slamming into the wall before running again. He could feel his body shifting into his shadow form, quickly shadow stepping further away from everyone. But his body couldn't keep up with him, not with him still recovering. So, his own body forced him back in his solid state and he let out a surprised yelp as he stumbled and fell to the ground. He rolled to a stop, his back hitting the wall and he struggled to get up, feeling his arms shaking as he slowly crawled to a corner.
"There you are." A masculine voice came from behind Louis and with the last of his energy, he quickly turned around, moving into a crouched position and growled loudly, snarling at the man in front of him. Or should he say men. There were now four men in front of him, although, the one who spoke looked and sounded familiar. *A mohawk?* Louis thought, growling again as the mohawk man stepped closer.
"Stay back!" Louis yelled but suddenly began coughing hard. He wanted to keep his eyes on the man but couldn't, covering his mouth as blood seeped through his fingers. "Shit..." A baritone voice caught his attention but he couldn't really look as he was literally coughing up a piece of his lung.
Louis noticed it went quiet, the alarms weren't blaring and no one was speaking.
"Y-you're...not taking me back." His breathing was labored as he finished coughing, flicking the chunk of lung off of his hand. He felt his lungs regenerating and he watched the men, faintly picking up their scents. But it was mostly drowned out by the strong scent of his blood.
"We're not taking you back, wee yin. Promise. We're just here to help" The one with the mohawk spoke again and Louis now recognized the man. He was the one who carried him out. And...Louis quickly looked over and locked eyes with the large one in the ghost mask.
"Names." Louis didn't relax but he at least remembered the two men who were there. The other two, a very pretty man with chocolate brown eyes and a equally handsome man with beautiful blue eyes and a mustache, he did not recognize.
"Soap. The one with the skull mask is Ghost. Kyle is the pretty one. And the one with the mustache is Price." Soap quickly listed their names and Louis locked eyes with all of them before looking back at Soap.
"What now?" He breathed out as he could feel his body slowly shutting down, wanting to sleep again. But he fought the feeling.
"We get you back in bed so you can rest." Price spoke but kept his distance and Louis looked at him with suspicion.
"That's it?"
"That's it."
Louis kept eye contact with him, making sure he wasn't lying and when he felt satisfied, he went to stand but his legs gave out under him and he saw the ground getting closer. He closed his eyes, waiting for the pain, but it never came. Instead, he landed against a warm chest and into strong arms. His face landed against Soap's shoulder and Louis couldn't help but to breath in his scent. The almondy scent of a beta invaded his nose, making him calm down, becoming like putty in Soap's arms. But then his natural scent came through, he smelled like watered down aftershave and coffee. Warm...so warm.
Louis let out a deep sigh as he was picked up bridal style, held close to that warm chest. "You're safe now, bonny. Rest." Louis let his his body relax and he felt himself grow heavy before once again slipping off into a deep sleep.
This was one long chapter. Phew!! I hope you guys enjoyed that! If you have any questions feel free to ask away!

LRB
Dude I got my first corporate review the other day after like... a year of working as an intern & a few months of fulltime & my boss said I'm good at working as part of a team & productive beyond the bare minimum & doing above-expected-quality shit and I Litcherally Could Not Believe It. Like the ADHD or the Whatever Undxed Stuff is so bad I feel like I spend more time spacing out than actually working. On my work from home days I spend half the time w/ food prep or naps & the naps only happen bc I'm so exhausted I'd just be falling asleep in my chair. Which has also happened at the office a couple times. I was SURE I'd get roasted for productivity or communication issues but apparently I'm doing 92.8% fine? Communication was the one thing brought up bc I do lurk in groupchat a lot (it's a small team of 6 so most coordination happens in whatsapp but most of it is abt events which I 99.9% of the time have nothing 2 do with so I get overwhelmed and shut off notifs for 1hr sometimes. And there's a lot of emails that are also 99% of the time not actionable 4 me so I also have trouble staying on top of those).
But uhhh yeah I'm apparently Decent At My Corpojob??????? Who'dathunkit
Like I was Terrified of screwing up bc I'd never had a stable proper Job before this. I was completely convinced I didn't have the CV to land one let alone the stamina to keep it and like. I wouldn't be able to cope with a Normal 9-to-5 like if I had to come into the office daily I prolly wouldn't make it. But because of COVID they switched to hybrid model & they don't mind me going radio silent for longass stretches of time as long as I come up w/ deliverables. And one woman who started a few months after me came up with a system to log all the graphics I need to make that lets me reference all the info in a single doc w/o going back & forth via email w/ anyone like at the start which has been a Fucking Godsend.
So????
And the pay covers most of my partner and I's expenses. Like we're still not ready to rent a non-humid non-Recluse-infested non-isolated place near or in downtown but. It doesn't seem completely out of reach in a few years anymore since I got this thing solidified & they started working again (gig style but with a base salary? So there's a low fixed income w higher bursts we can use for buying key shit like uhhh our first Vehicle even if it's scary & two-wheeled 4 now. I'm also campaigning for one of those air fryer / rice maker / pressure cooker combo insane machine things to compensate our notorious lack of oven)

Avoid having midnight cravings
What I need to get rid of
To stop sleeping super late at night and waking up late.
Stop sleeping in the morning during the weekends.
Stop thinking of caffeine as the solution to drink before going to classes in the morning.
Recommendations/Suggestions for the week onwards
Instead of drinking coffee, I should drink tea as my alternative
Instead of sleeping late and waking up late, I should reverse: sleep early and wake up early
Instead of studying late at night, I should study early in the morning.

Newborn Childcare: What to Look for in Facilities Near Your Location
1. Introduction
Once all of you as moms and dads have been asking for outcomes and traveled around, make sure that the facility is reasonably convenient for you and makes you feel comfortable. To ensure the ability to build a good and respectful relationship with the caregiving team, this includes being able to select your kid within a reasonable amount of time in the day. Another significant aspect would be the facilities of the childcare location and the quality of treatment itself. Of utmost concern are health and safety issues. Researching state regulations for childcare services will help you determine which states have the capacity to satisfy regulatory requirements. It will help the childcare facility satisfy the required legal requirements and standards; moreover, if it is nationally approved, this is also of advantage. Connext is a publicly accredited campaign that measures compliance criteria above and beyond the minimum required through the National Academy of Child Care.
You’ve finally given birth to a healthy bundle of joy. Congratulations! We know that you can’t wait to let your baby see the world outside. Then again, this freshman experience evidently includes countless meal preparation and laundry activities, not to mention hours of breastfeeding or bottle feeding. Any possibility that you or both of you, as parents, would find a beneficial childcare arrangement? However, if this would be the very first streaming video experience for your child, it is advisable that you start searching for the perfect childcare whizz at least three or four months before your planned date. Guidance for finding and selecting a fantastic childcare provider is included in this section. See information on how everyone can assist if you are enrolled in university.
2. Essential Features to Consider
Simple tasks are something that service providers should offer, like diapering, because they know there are those parents that find it hard to leave their kids at these services. Bathing and feeding are one other simple tasks the specialists should deliver as listed above and celery stages foods are given to children. The service provider should be able to create a good relationship with the children as it is pretty important. The reason is they are going to take care of them on a daily basis, and as such, trust is a key; hence your kids need to have a connection. Their emotional well-being will only improve as a result of this, they will learn how to communicate and also play well with others. Also, the professionals can offer the attentive level of care that the children need when they are seriously injured. If a kiddo is bringing the numbing creams from, then the specialists have to take them and keep them.
If you are a caring parent with a baby, have work, and cannot afford to stay with the child at home, then your only option will be to go looking for a childcare facility to leave your kid at. When you first look for these services, you need to get a place that is not only affordable but also has professionals who can take care of your kiddo as this is something that can be very overwhelming. However, not just any service provider can deliver in the area, there are those features that most of them must have, for instance, bathing, diapering, feeding, and even hands-on baby care. If this is the first time you will be taking your kid to childcare, you could use this guide more.
2.1. Safety Measures
When entering a school, you must notice where furniture is parked, napping, changing, eating, and recreation facilities are placed, what regions of mobility and surveillance are left or not. You must also take care of ventilation and heating systems, poisonous chemicals, and the need for immediate cleaning without potentially painful chemical necessities in these areas frequented by children. This measurement is also essential in playgrounds. Also, verify glass recycling or how glass is manipulated around children (they can usually be in children's hands), fire alarms, safety exits for emergency events, and family emergency kit stop losses, and the closet of medications clearly stenciled with children's names, as well as other necessary first-aid items.
In Australia, licensing protocols and safety requirements are obligations covered by federal, state, and local government legislations. Each safety measure, when considered from different authorities for different age groups, is evaluated on a predefined scale of points. Once all these points in different sources of documents reach their threshold, these mandatory boxes of safety checks are ticked, and the spotlight shines over compliance agencies' requirements. However, how much do you depend on these protocols and legislations? Relying on these obligations can lead to unconscious living. So please always ask explicit questions about school safety implementations until you are fully aware of realities. It is not meant to offend but to caution and promote vigilance.
2.2. Qualified Staff
In Brazil, the National Education Council (CNE) published the Resolution No. 6/2010 guidelines, which establish orientations for the 'National Early Childhood Education Curricular Guidelines'. There are changes in the training of professionals who will work with infants. These professionals must hold a degree in 'Early Childhood Education' to work with children from zero to five years old, keeping in mind the specific competencies of educators who will meet children from zero to 3 years of age, as follows: encourage autonomy and at the same time work in partnership with families from different ways of giving and understanding children; take care of joys and conflicts, respect the sleeping and eating rhythms in a family dynamic; act as mediators in the construction of narratives, individual and collective stories of children. To ensure quality education, it is necessary to establish a minimum professional qualification profile, which is only possible through the higher education of professionals working with children from zero to three years old.
Infants need specialized care, including love and protection to avoid risks of falls, choking, and 'Sudden Infant Death Syndrome' (SIDS), since they are totally dependent on someone to meet their most basic needs. However, many unqualified people are provided by parents to work in clandestine nurseries and daycares. As illegal workers, these people do not have the rights and duties that Brazilian legislation requires for early childhood educators. It is also common for professionals to provide the service just to have a source of income. That worries plenty of people, especially those who do not have other options due to financial issues or preferences. The fact is that you do not give your baby to a stranger, but to an extremely important person in the child's life, especially if the parents cannot dedicate themselves full time to their care. It is responsible for stimulating their development, protecting them from accidents that are common in childhood, responding to their most basic needs, transmitting safety, confidence, affection, and love. The educator must also have good communication with the baby's family. For this purpose, the guardian (mother, father, or tutor) should try to remain with their newborn for as long as possible in the nursery or the nursery until they feel safe with the generations. The establishment should have an internal communication tool to send daily reports about the child's behavior, the administration of medicines, and concerns about their development with parents. Ideally, visits should always be allowed, trust should be established between families and educators.
2.3. Clean and Hygienic Environment
Many new child care foundations additionally have exceptionally exacting approaches about who can enter the structure, and when they can visit.
Investigation methodology varies from one place to another, so ensure you ask the staff individuals what their procedures resemble. You're searching for a child care that is truly aware of cleanliness and sterilization concerns, not one that is more worried about getting your installments paid. They may likewise be in the propensity of utilizing non-toxic, natural child items and cleaners to additional guarantee the security of your child, and they ought to have pretty strong strategies set up to forestall the spread of sickness and illness. For instance, it's probably best practice to stay away from the child care office preceding inoculation.
As a rule, you should search for a child care that is consistently sparkling clean. The toys, bedding, and child care gear should all be disinfected and purified daily, and cleaned consistently during the week. The changing zones and the child care staff should tidy up themselves similarly like endearing are tended to in precisely the same manner.
Something else you should watch out for when touring newborn foundations is the general cleanliness and consideration they give to cleanliness criteria. Germs can be particularly hazardous to babies, making a controlled and sterile climate incredibly significant.
3. Additional Services and Amenities
Though it was earlier mentioned that mothers are generally happy to find a clean facility of newborn care center located conveniently close to their home or workplace, it seems that there are other factors besides such general factors like distance and cleanliness to consider. According to a 2018 article, the following are the crucial factors that most mothers would want to consider when they are hunting for a newborn infant center, namely: quality of interactions, caregiver qualifications and ratios, cost, support for new parents, location, cleanliness, security, highchairs and wipes, facilities, emergency readiness, interview process, breastfeeding help, parental involvement, feeding preparation and food, and relaxation and play environments. Of these, though not mentioned earlier, cleanliness, facilities, and caregiver qualifications seem to be the most important.
In addition to general facilities cleanliness, caregiver education, and background checks, there are many other factors that can make a big difference when you are trying to pick the best newborn childcare facility. You can cut down your research time considerably and find the best newborn infant center near your home; just ensure that you consider all or most of the factors given below. In case you need to travel and are concerned with the distance it will take to reach a particular infants' center, you can also consider hiring a babysitter or a nanny. Nannies can take care of your baby from the comfort of your home, which would be a great arrangement if you're dealing with twins or are planning to get pregnant soon.
3.1. Nutritious Meals and Snacks
In addition to good nutrition, it’s important to be mindful of how meals and snacks are eaten. During meals and snacks, the staff should sit at the eating table with the children to provide gentle and warm encouragement about the importance of eating, as well as guiding their hands so they can put the food into their mouths using the utensils (under two). After sitting with the children and having one 15 minutes, the educators or teacher assistant should have one go-around with warm and wet reusable cloths and lightly swipe the top of hands and cheeks to keep the face, hands, and neck clean; it will help children feel fresh and comfortable. Ensuring the best customized care is given to all children when it comes to specified dietary changes, whether they are allergy, sensitivity, intolerance, or preference based, is also paramount. Flexibility is essential for food that are not okay to talk about.
Newborns and infants need to eat often and require a diet plentiful of vital nutrients to grow healthy. When searching for a childcare facility for your infant, ensure it provides well-balanced meals and snacks full of nutrients. The centre you pick should have a trained chef or a full-time allergen-certified cook who can offer infants the infant-specific nutrition they need at the facility. Meals and snacks should be aligned with the Children’s and Infants’ Menu Planning Guidelines, Canada’s Food Guide to Healthy Eating, and Canada’s Food Guide to Feeding your Baby (0-24 months). Ensure the centre can provide elaboration from a registered dietitian or certified nutritionist, if requested.
3.2. Age-Appropriate Activities and Learning
At Precious Cargo, we use the WRAT Kit to develop age-appropriate activities, which is a guide to a child's development by NM certified child care inspectors. When we plan for our various age groups, we consider the baby's developmental needs and use the WRAT Kit to support various domains for brain and motor development. Stop in and pay us a visit. We would love to get to know you and show you around. The Precious Cargo staff are very kind, caring, and compassionate to create an environment in our center. We partner with parents to be professional advocates to both children and their families. Our teachers are nurturing and recognize each precious child as an individual. We meet every child where they are and support their growth one milestone at a time.
Make sure to plan a visit to the daycare before enrolling your baby. While on your visit, pay attention to the environment. Observe baby's activities and if each is age-appropriate. We share a few examples of baby's age-appropriate activities. When choosing a child care facility for your baby, how the staff plans the activities and organizes the environment is important. Does the facility use the guidance of childcare professionals to plan what baby will be doing all day? Are the plans on display before you walk in? When you enter, are the items visually easy to see or are the items only decorating the space and not engaging the baby? Will the baby spend the day on their bumpo while all the activities are high above them? If they do, when would the baby get to practice all the new milestones they need to help develop? Or are the activities on the baby's level where the baby is free to move and explore the world through safe spaces?
4. Location and Convenience
The next thing you should be concerned with is the overall environment. Your initial step is to determine whether it is clean, safe, and appealing to kids of all ages. Is there enough room for your child to play in and is it filled with an appropriate amount of attractive and comfortable furniture and toys? There is also the matter of cleanliness. Ask if they have employed a maintenance staff for cleaning facilities. Another thing to check out is any outdoor playgrounds and indoor gym. What about the food pantry? Purity in meal ingredients is essential. If the kitchen isn’t well-kept, your child is more likely to grab food-borne diseases, which can be inimical to his health.
If the nearest childcare is way past your office, don’t be disheartened. You’ll need to rely on your scheduled visits to alleviate your baby’s ‘abandonment sorrow.’ When choosing a Newborn Day Care Coral Gables, it doesn’t need to be within walking distance. It can be a few blocks away from your place of work too. They can decrease your commute time and make your day a lot less stressful. Don’t dismiss this benefit. Paying attention creates security. Also, with your growing child always in mind, you are compelled to exert greater effort than ever to approach your presentations and meetings with a sense of purpose and decisiveness. Early childhood educators are essential in the care and appropriate early education. Make sure that the childcare you choose has highly skilled educators that have completed advanced college credit courses in caring.
Lucky you if the childcare facility you’re eyeing is near your workplace. Your baby will love it too. According to psychologist Geraldine Aroncline, children are highly attached to their parents and cannot bear separation for prolonged periods. It’s one of the reasons why many of them are said to undergo ‘separation anxiety’ when mom and dad must leave them for work. Of course, that won’t be the case if the childcare facility is just walking distance from your office. Being close by, you can visit your child whenever you can and spend quality time instead of waiting for the weekends and the next holiday. For the parents that have nine-to-six-hour jobs, there are no other options when they simply cannot rush back at their children’s whim.
4.1. Proximity to Your Home or Workplace
When selecting one daycare for your child, you need to make sure that it's a place where children feel loved and welcomed. Their happiness will tell you if it is a good place or not. In the past, crèches as they were called (they're day care facilities these days) were mostly places where children were just looked after, but these days, day care facilities are so much more than that. What you're looking for is costly, but if it means your child will be safe, loved, and have a good time, it's money well spent. Only by choosing a good day care facility will you be able to attain peace of mind during your work hours.
As someone who hasn't had their first child, you've been told that having a child is a life-changing experience, full of ups and downs. Now, you've decided to start planning on making the most of this part of your life. The first thing you should do is start looking for newborn childcare. You'll quickly realize that newborn childcare is not as affordable as you thought it would be. After all, it doesn't make sense to put your child in a place where they won't be safe, they won't be taken good care of, or you won't have any peace of mind as you try to work. It makes sense to be picky about the place you'll choose to put your child in. After all, since being a stay-at-home mom stopped being a reality long time ago, childcare workers play a significant role in the children's upbringing.
4.2. Flexible Hours and Availability
One slightly more subtle issue is how illness accounts for in the centre. It is a simple fact of life that children get sick; a lot. The reality also is that even if a child is running a fairly high fever, the child is going to be pretty happy, bouncing off the walls, at some point during the day. So, if a sick child is infecting all the other kids, the child will be going to infect another child at home later that day. Look for a child-care centre that acknowledges the necessity of staying home some days, be it due to illness or holiday, and which respects the caregivers' decisions regarding when it's okay or not to send the child in. If the sick child is perhaps missing out on some of the fun, at least.
Flexible hours and availability: The schedules of newborn children do not correspond with that of an eight-hour workday. There are facilities that offer extended hours and overtime to meet the scheduling demand of the working parent. Most facilities run a structured schedule all year-round, so you do not have to make due arrangements for days off. These might be multifaceted, but they offer better opportunities for combining children's activities such as sports, music, tutoring, if not so during the school hours.

What Is Diabetes?
Diabetes is a disease that arises when there is an increase in blood glucose, also named blood sugar. Glucose is your primary source of energy in your body. Your body will make glucose, but glucose also comes from the food you eat.
Insulin is a hormone composed by the pancreas that aids glucose in getting into your cells used for energy. If you have diabetes, your body does not make sufficient or use insulin, then Glucose stays in the blood and does not reach your cells.
Decrease Your Coffee Intake
Changing the morning is a big lifestyle change, but it will have a huge impact on the quality of life of a diabetic patient. You can make your coffee with no sugar and eliminate having a cuppa from fancy places, as it may include ample sugar that will result in severe glucose fluctuations.
Exercise right
Physical activity is also another necessary cornerstone of diabetes management. When you exercise daily, your muscles use glucose for energy. Physical activity aids the body in using insulin more efficiently. It is advisable for people to exercise for an hour every day or a minimum of five days a week.
Quality of food
For a diabetic diet, every meal must be a good mix of fruits, proteins, vegetables and starches, and fats. It is vital to select the best type of carbohydrate to consume. Few carbohydrates such as vegetables, whole grains, and fruits are better foods for diabetic patients than other types of carbohydrates. This food includes high levels of fiber and is low in bad carbohydrates that aid in stabilizing blood sugar levels.
Be mindful
Management of stress is a vital part of controlling diabetes. Stress might increase blood sugar even when you follow the meal plan, exercise, and drink water. You can also join a yoga class, explore mindfulness activities or take Best Ayurvedic Medicine for Diabetic like Diabesity care.
Drink More Water
Staying hydrated is a simple method to stay in control of your glucose level. One research found the more water study participants drank, the less likely they were to build high blood sugar. The research found individuals who drank less than half a liter of water every day were at risk of developing blood sugar problems.
Get enough quality sleep.
Getting good quality sleep feels best and is vital for good health. Poor habits of sleeping and lack of rest might affect blood sugar levels and increase the type 2 diabetes risk and insulin sensitivity. They will also promote weight gain and increase appetite.
Sleep deprivation increases the hormone cortisol and plays a crucial role in blood sugar management. Enough sleep is about quality as well as quantity. The NSF or National Sleep Foundation advises that people get at least 8 hours of sleep every night.
To improve sleep quality, you must: -
⦁ Get exercise regularly
⦁ You can cut down on screen time before bed
⦁ Eliminate alcohol and caffeine during the day
⦁ Follow a sleep routine
⦁ You can restrict your naps
⦁ Keep your bedroom cool
⦁ You can try meditation
⦁ You can use calming scents or soothing such as lavender
⦁ You may take a shower before bed or a warm bath
⦁ You may create a bedtime routine
⦁ Eliminate working in the bedroom
Wrapping up
You may follow these tips mentioned above to control diabetes. You can also take Diabesity Care, the Ayurvedic Medicine for Diabetes, from Lifetree. It gives peace of mind and brings happiness to your life. Consuming the best Ayurvedic Medicine for Diabetes keeps you healthy and improves overall well-being. Okay, but Taang’s kids would be so feral. Both their parents are so laid back and they’d be such a happy family but they’d look a total mess, and their kids would be wild
Everyone goes to sleep and wakes up pretty much whenever they want. Aang is notoriously late to all his Avatar briefings and appointments and Toph just walks into her office at like 2 pm with a coffee and is like “right, here’s the case for today, fuckos”. There first kid or two probably slept fine and they maintained some sort of schedule but it all goes to pot once the third baby comes along because he cries through the night and they just fall into the habit of going to sleep whenever they can. The older kids catch on to this and truly break the will of their parents by refusing to go to bed until Toph is eventually like “you don’t want to go to bed? Fine. But keep the noise to a minimum, try not to fight and if you do, just don’t get hurt your brother too badly because mommy needs a spirits-damned nap”
They have too many kids. Like, I’m thinking 6. Maybe even 7. Toph had originally said that they’d have three kids, tops. If they didn’t have an airbender during the first, second or third pregnancy, that was it. Aang and Toph had pretty much decided that, if they didn’t have an airbender by the third pregnancy, they’d have to think about having an open relationship so Aang could... sow his airbender oats. Toph was actually the one to suggest it as a solution to this potential marital problem. Aang didn’t really like the thought of it, but conceded that it might be necessary. It worked out okay- their first child was a little airbender girl that they named Dorji. They kind of forgot about the 3 kids maximum rule immediately after.
There are next to no manners. The kids never say please or thank you (unless they’re on their best behaviour for Granny and Grandpa) but they are considerate and otherwise polite. They listen when spoken to and mostly do what’s requested of them. They’re good kids... just a little rough and grubby around the edges.
Bath time is an all-out war. The youngest earthbending kiddos do not like bath time one little bit. Even one or two of thr airbending children are reluctant too. Toph basically spends an hour or so before bath time trying to pull toddlers from their hiding spots underneath beds, out of cupboards and closets while Aang has a jolly old time trying to chase runaway (flyaway?) airbenders on his air scooter. Needless to say, Toph always feels like she gets the short-straw out of the two of them.
Toph calls all the kids her ‘badger moles’ as a term of endearment. Aang has a lightbulb moment and tries to coin the phrase “sky calves” but is met with a pig snort of laughter from Toph and disappointed silence from the kids. He sulks for a week.
He regains some Dad Points ™️ when he refers to one of his sons’ temper tantrums as “Earth Rumbles”
Pillow fights and rough and tumble play are a daily occurrence
The house is never tidy. Toph puts the kids in time out the first few times that they draw on the walls, but Aang thinks they’re just ‘being creative’ and says they’re cute. Toph finds a compromise- they can doodle on the walls but only in their own rooms
Aang sometimes spends time away on business and when that happens, Toph and the kids basically eat nothing but junk food. The kids low-key kind of enjoy his absence because they don’t get any lectures about how food can still be tasty without meat.
Aang and Toph are largely on the same page in terms of parenting styles- their biggest disagreement stemmed from the issue of their kids’ diets. Aang, as the cook of the house, wanted all the kids to be vegetarians, regardless off whether or not they were airbenders. Toph went along with it for a few years. Aang wouldn’t cook meat, so any time she craved it, she had to make it herself and she once made the mistake of letting one of the boys take a bite from her dinner in front of Aang, which lead to an almighty row. Toph argued that the kids- including the airbenders- ought to have a right to choose what they ate, just like she did, and she ultimately persuaded him by reminding him of how Poppy and Laoa’s strictness had just pushed her to run away and rebel as a teenager. Did he really want to risk driving a wedge between himself and his children by micromanaging their lives rather than trusting their kids to make the right choices for them? “Besides,” Toph had argued “you’re the better cook anyway, so they’ll probably choose your vegetarian meals anyway”. She was right, and all but two of their children chose to remain committed vegetarians
In a similar vein, some of their kids wear shoes, some don’t. Hell, even Aang gets so used to being barefoot at home that he has to make an effort to remember them before heading off to meet officials

THE post-Easter/pre-birthday get your shit together and try to be more committed than last time to improve all aspects of your life PLAN:
Focus: Improve body image, overall fitness, mental health, intelligence, relationships, and spirituality.
1. Vary strength and cardio workouts
2. Track food/aim for 1500 per day
3. Limit dairy, bread and sugar
4. Read a minimum of a chapter/an article/learn daily
5. Journal/doodle/write/be creative as much as possible
6. Meditate/stay grounded
7. Be productive/set intentions but rest too
8. Express gratitude/RAKs often
What I know: Transformation is a process with many ups and downs. Fuck...some days it seems all you get is a healthy serving of nope-not-today. Life has a funny way of challenging every plan you put into motion. Setbacks followed by crippling self doubt. I've learned there are no days off. You just gotta trudge on. Embrace grit.
Unlearning years of bad habits isn't easy, it’s that old path of least resistance thing but I'm fortunate enough to have trust in the process. Faith in myself to be a little bit better tomorrow. Continue focusing on better food choices, commitment to training with purpose and working on all aspects of a better me.
Side note: We all stumble. I’m actually fairly proficient at it. But failure is a single event not a characteristic. It doesn’t define you any more than a single success does. Successful people have one thing in common - they find out what it takes to be successful and repeatedly do it. It’s that simple. They do it, again and again, not talk about it. Actions have always spoken louder than words, we all know this. Being knowledgeable in regards to fitness plans, diet information and health tips is only part of the journey. To get anywhere you need to apply it all in to action. Daily. Determination and discipline, not discussion, determine your distance. Stop talking about it and do it. And as cliché as it is, try to focus on ‘progress not perfection’. Even baby steps are moving you further away from the stagnant know-it-alls of the world.
Finally: It is my intention to leave all the following behind:
impatience
confrontation
apathy
stubbornness
self-sabotage
disloyalty
irrationalism
assumicide
thickskullitis
lengthy lulls in creativity
miscommunication
hopefully a few pounds
and excuses
And, I intend to:
embrace grit
listen and learn
be kinder
advocate gratitude
check in with myself more often
focus on the positive
be better tomorrow than today
acknowledge my needs and worth
find power in the pause
have faith in benefit of the doubt
stop overthinking
nap

Why I haven't been consistent in my daily journaling:
It's hard to say honestly. I have been experiencing a pretty bad PMS week and I have been struggling with both my schedule and my motivation. I'm waiting to hear from this job interview and I feel like the more I wait, the less things I manage to do. With work and health check-ups, in the past 2 months I have progressively stopped doing most of my favourite activities. Singing, reading, editing and posting photos, watching movies and tv series, streaming, exercising, meditating, and now journaling. These are just some of the things that I used to enjoy but don't have time/motivation to do anymore.
To tell the full story, I have been doing some things I love recently, that I don't usually do. Like hanging out with my partner, meeting with new people, shopping, walking in the nature, and so on. But I still feel like some days I just think about work and this interview. One of my most used coping mechanism is to watch silly youtube videos or scroll through Instagram. I am so overwhelmed emotionally, mentally and physically due to PMS (alias PMDD) and general anxiety, that I end up with no energies to take care of my own needs. I do want to do things I love, but I just end up being so drained that I nap, or go throguh socials, and the loop ends only when I am forced to work or when I have the chance to spend time with my partner (who is also busy and stressed most of the time).
Don't get me wrong: I regularly check in with my therapist, I am knowledgeable about mental health enough to know that I am overworked and on the edge of a burnout, but it doesn't feel like I have lots of room for choices. I have already made sure my workload is at minimum, but some days it still feels like too much. Last time I took a real break was back in mid-February and now it's almost June. I plan to take a break as soon as I know the results of the interview, because I can't afford not to work at the moment.
I probably just need to prioritise myself and get back to a real schedule, and get out of the house, that would help greatly. With periods pain is hard to do that and I also need physical rest, but I do want and will get back to it.
As for my daily journaling, I will not give up on it, but I still wanted to give you all an update about my life, one that you can't probably draw from the scarcity of information I have been putting in my journaling (due to said reasons). This, as each one of my other hobbies, is the reason that makes me want to continue and even if I have been here since 2018, I do not intend to stop.
How have you all been doing though? ❤️ Any similar struggle with changing jobs? Hit my ask box if you want, it's open. Take care little leaves of tea.

Ummm so I'm new to tumblr so don't judge if I did something wrong.Ummm how can I be like you? Like you know? Productive and smart.I always push myself but ended up being distracted by things (I have adhd and depression).I can't even remember anything after.I suffer, and continue suffering, from my mental illnesses.I just can't keep myself on track. My family makes fun of me for trying.I'm actually trying to find a part time job here but nothing hires minors.Idk please help meee.
hi, friend! answer under the cut because this will be long.
please know you’re doing nothing wrong, and that the fact you keep trying to become better and to push yourself to always get things done despite difficult circumstances already shows that you ARE already productive and smart.
second, it also helped me when i was struggling very heavily last year to learn two things: 1) there will always be particularly bad days when you live with mental illness, but all the little efforts you take, it slowly does get less difficult. getting better does not mean completely getting rid of all the symptoms you experience, but mostly just learning the best ways and small, gentle things you can do for yourself to manage your condition. this really requires a gentle but firm balance between pushing yourself to do the things you absolutely need to do, but also knowing when what level of work/school/self-care or hobbies is the limit, so that you don’t get too overwhelmed. this means most of the time, you don’t have to worry about being productive for its own sake. it helps me when i feel like i’m drowning to know how little i can do/the most non-negotiable bare minimum, that still helps me not to fall behind.
^ this is a small, cheap pad of sticky notes i carry with me throughout my entire day. it’s only big enough so that i can only write a few school tasks/personal things i need to do/chores, which helps me evaluate what exactly i can only get done, especially on days where i don’t feel well. checking off absolutely everything on my tiny list makes me feel like i’ve accomplished a lot, because i i have-- they aren’t necessarily a lot of tasks, but they’re the ones that i know really do need to get done. it also helps me focus when i have a lot of nervous energy, and have a panicked sense of “so many things need to get done!!!?” because i can give myself a bit of time to sit down, maybe turn on an episode of a show i like or make some coffee, and write down my tasks. it really helps me with the faint, tiny guilt and dread i used to feel day by day that i was being unproductive or lazy, because now i know i’ve fulfilled all my obligations to myself (everything from doing laundry, to making dinner) and to other people (schoolwork and other tasks). it’s okay to move at the pace that’s only possible for you right now. it’s better to feel comfortable with the smallest things you can do, and build on that as the days come. 2) getting distracted is normal, given Everything Happening Right Now, plus with a mental health condition that makes it hard to focus. it can also be hard to remember things when i study, because of my own health conditions, but i’ve found that the following things have helped: regarding distraction - use a small system that keeps you from accessing any distractions when you need to get something done. i try to leave my non-essential device in another room, and set up a timer-based blocker, to limit the websites i access. - i try to acknowledge the distractions as they come, and try to figure out why: am i hungry? am i tired? have i gotten enough sleep? do i need a break? if it isn’t anything serious, i just acknowledge that i’ve gone briefly off-track-- without guilt, without judgment. then i try to turn my mind back to the task at hand. - a good ambient playlist can make me feel more focused during hard tasks in the sense that i have some form of stimulation to keep the “itchiness” at bay. video game soundtracks and film soundtracks are also wonderful for long, tricky tasks. - sometimes i just have to start to feel motivated-- the focus actually comes in in the middle of the task. the fact of starting something may actually make you feel motivated.
- procrastinate productively: sometimes when i really don’t want to study i turn on a movie or a show and use the time to clean my room or fold laundry. my life still feels put-together, and i enjoyed myself! win-win.
- and sometimes i realize that focus may be impossible at the moment: take a break, go for a run, do something you like, take a nap. regarding learning and remembering things i used to have the worst time recalling things for school, until i prioritized two things: SLEEP, and not cramming. i used to get extremely poor grades in my first year of law school because i would put off studying at the last and latest moment-- a few days before exams, pulling all-nighters right up until the hour the exam started. i would also just use my free time to scroll on social media, instead of taking a nap or going to bed early. this was absolutely wrong. during the exam, i couldn’t recall anything because i was too tired, too frazzled, probably didn’t have breakfast, and because i had started and finished half a semester of reading in one night. my grades have gotten much better lately-- i’d like to think it’s because i’ve centered it around two things: (a) getting enough sleep every single night (helpful ESPECIALLY if you have health problems-- mental or physical), and (b) making exam day the least stressful it can be. how do i do this? - this means not only learning things for the exam, but also for classes on a daily period. you don’t have to study particularly hard, but you just have to study enough that you can understand what the professor is saying in class. set definite study hours every day, stop at a very specific and reasonable hour, and go to bed. try to get at least 6 hours of sleep. sleep helps me absorb everything better (idk science but this is from experience and also some very smart people i know ALSO prioritize getting sleep). wake up at a reasonable hour. - how to study: read the syllabus, and try to get a decent overview of all the topics you need to cover before you start testing/making flashcards/doing active recall (which is IMPORTANT bc this helps you actually train your brain to retrieve information). imho as someone low-energy i find that rewriting notes/making reviewers/making flashcards makes me very tired and leaves very little time for actual studying, so it just helps to test myself by looking at the syllabus and trying to explain the concept to myself, then peeking at the textbook or materials to see what i’m missing. mind-maps are also energy-efficient ways of figuring out how concepts fit together. - how to study for exams: the very latest you should start is a week ahead. two weeks ahead is ideal. map out how much information you need to re-learn from the syllabus. move slowly with the aim of finishing the coverage by the first week. the second is for reviewing and RESTING. - THE NIGHT BEFORE THE EXAM: do a final, gentle survey over the topics you may not understand. stop at 10 pm. go to sleep. - EXAM DAY: you’ve done the work. take the time to eat breakfast, test yourself SLOWLY AND GENTLY (avoid reading huge chunks of textbook at this point-- youll only confuse yourself), and set up your workspace to take the exam. crush said exam. as a final note: it can be hard to get things done when the people closest to you aren’t supportive. try to reach out on studyblr and find discord study with me servers, or study communities on reddit (they’re actually really nice), or with students in your class. if you need to talk, just dm me. you can do this friend, okay? take care always. gentler days will come.

Headache: When to stress, what to try to do?
Nearly everyone has had headache pain, and most folks have had it repeatedly. A minor headache is a small nuisance that's relieved by an over-the-counter pain reliever, some food or coffee, or a brief rest. But if your headache is severe or unusual, you could possibly worry about a stroke, a tumor, or a grime. Fortunately, such problems are very rare. Still, you ought to know when a headache needs urgent care and the way to regulate the overwhelming majority of headaches that aren't threatening to your health.
What causes headaches?
Even doctors also don't fully understand what causes most headaches. They do know that the brain tissue and therefore the skull is never responsible. Since it does not have nerves that register pain. But the blood vessels within the head and neck can signal pain, as can the tissues that surround the brain and a few major nerves that originate within the brain. The scalp, sinuses, teeth, and muscles, and joints of the neck also can cause head pain.
When to stress a few headaches?
You can look out for many sorts of headaches by yourself. But your doctor can offer you some kind of medication to regulate most of the persistent headaches. And some headaches do involve prompt medical aid.
Some important warning signs, you must know.
An unusually severe headache
Changes in personality or mental function
Headaches that first develop after age 50
A major change within the pattern of your headaches
Head pain that increases with movement or coughing.
Headaches that are amid fever, stiff neck, confusion
Headaches that get steadily worse
Associated with neurological symptoms like visual disturbances, slurred speech, weakness, numbness, or seizures
Headaches that are amid pain and tenderness near the temples
Headaches that are amid a painful red eye
Experiencing headaches after a blow to the top
Headaches that prevent normal daily activities
if they wake you up, Headaches that come on abruptly
Headaches associated with cancer or impaired immune systems
Types of headaches:
There are quite 300 sorts of headaches, but only about 10% of headaches have a known cause. The others are called primary headaches. Here may be a rundown on some major primary headaches.
Tension headaches
Occurring in about three of each four adults, tension headaches are the foremost common of all headaches. In most cases, they're mild to moderate in severity and occur infrequently. But a couple of people get severe tension headaches, and a few are troubled by them 3 or fourfold every week.
The typical headache produces a dull, squeezing pain on each side of the top. People with strong tension headaches may desire their head during a vise. The shoulders and neck also can ache. But in some cases, tension headaches are triggered by emotional stress, fatigue, or problems involving the muscles or joints of the jaw or neck. Most of them last for 20 minutes to 2 hours.
If you get occasional tension-type headaches, you'll look out for them yourself. Over-the-counter pain relievers like acetaminophen (Tylenol, other brands) and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs) like aspirin, naproxen (Aleve, other brands), or ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil, other brands) often do the trick but follow the directions on the label, and never take quite you ought to. A hot pad or warm shower may help; some people feel better with a brief nap or light snack.
If you get frequent tension-type headaches, attempt to identify triggers so you'll avoid them. Aren't getting overtired or skipping meals. Learn relaxation techniques; yoga is especially helpful because it can relax both your mind and your neck muscles. If you clench your jaw or grind your teeth in the dark, a bite plate may help.
If you would like more help, your doctor may prescribe stronger pain medication or a relaxant to regulate headache pain. Many of us with recurrent tension-type headaches can prevent attacks by taking a tricyclic like amitriptyline (Elavil, generic). Fortunately, most people with tension-type headaches will do alright with simpler programs.
Migraine
Migraines occur less often than tension headaches, but they're usually far more severe. They're two to 3 times more common in women than men, but that's small consolation if you're among the 6% to eight of all men who have migraines. And since a Harvard study of 20,084 men aged 40 to 84 reported that having migraines boosts the danger of heart attacks by 42%, men with migraines should take their headaches to heart.
Neurologists believe that migraines are caused by changes within the brain's blood flow and neuron activity. Genetics plays a task since 70% of migraine victims have a minimum of one close relative with the matter.
Migraine triggers. Although a migraine can come on all of sudden, it's often triggered by a trigger. The items that cause a migraine vary from person to person, but a migraine sufferer usually remains sensitive to an equivalent trigger. The table lists a number of the foremost common ones.
Here are some major migraine triggers:
Changing weather: rising humidity, heat
Lack of sleep or oversleeping
Fatigue
Emotional stress
Dietary triggers:
missing a meal
alcohol, especially red wine
chocolate
nitrates in cured meats and fish
aged cheese
an increase or decrease in caffeine
Sensory triggers: loud noises, strong smells, and bright or flickering lights.
Migraine symptoms
Migraines often begin within the evening or during sleep. In some people, the attacks are preceded by several hours of depression, fatigue, sluggishness or by restlessness and irritability. Because migraine symptoms vary widely, a minimum of half all migraine sufferers think they need sinus or tension headaches, not migraines.
Approximately 20% of migraines do begin with one or more neurological symptoms called an AURA. Among all symptoms visual complaints are the commonest. They'll include halos, sparkles or flashing lights, wavy lines, and even temporary loss of vision. The aura can also produce numbness or tingling on one side of the body, especially the face or hand. Some patients develop aura symptoms without getting headaches; they often think they're having a stroke, not a migraine.
The majority of migraines develop without an aura. In typical cases, the pain is on one side of the top, often beginning round the eye and temple before spreading to the rear of the top. The pain is usually severe and is described as throbbing or pulsating. Nausea is common, and lots of migraine patients have a watering eye, a running nose, or congestion. If these symptoms are prominent, they'll cause a misdiagnosis of sinus headaches. A method to recollect the features of migraine is to use the word POUND
P is for pulsating pain
O is for one-day duration of severe untreated attacks.
U for unilateral (one-sided) pain
N for nausea and vomiting
D for disabling intensity.
If you don't receive effective treatment, migraine attacks usually last for four to 24 hours. When you're suffering a migraine, even four hours is way too long — and that is why early treatment for a migraine is so important.
Migraine treatment
If you notice a migraine in its very earliest stages, you'll be ready to control it with nonprescription pain relievers. Acetaminophen, aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, and a mixture of pain medications and caffeine are all effective — if you're taking a full dose very early within the attack.
When prescribed drugs are needed, most doctors address the triptans, which are available as tablets, nasal sprays, or as injections that patients can learn to offer to themselves. Some examples include zolmitriptan (Zomig), sumatriptan (Imitrex), and rizatriptan (Maxalt). Triptans provide complete relief within two hours for up to 70% of patients; the response is best if treatment is started early. Few patients require a second dose within 12 to 24 hours. Patients with disorders and people who take a high dose of certain antidepressants have to discuss the risks of using them with their doctor.
Work together with your doctor to seek out the migraine treatment that works best for you. Remember, though, that overuse can cause rebound headaches and a vicious circle of medicine and headaches. So, if you would like treatment quite two or 3 times every week, consider preventive medications.
Migraine prevention
Some people can prevent migraines just by avoiding triggers. Others had best with prompt therapy for infrequent attacks. But patients that suffer frequent migraine attacks often enjoy preventive medications. Effective prescribed drugs include beta blockers (such as propranolol, nadolol and atenolol), certain antidepressants (such as amitriptyline), and certain antiseizure medications (such topiramate and valproate). Difficult cases may enjoy referral to a headache specialist.
