thoughts on what fandoms the da:i characters would be in
I will do this for you but ONLY if I amend it to "fandoms they would be annoying about" because it's funnier and otherwise I'm just assigning them shows they would be into and that's too subjective and less fun
One of them has to be a Homestuck and it's Sera, Sera is the Homestuck. Sera has a Trollsona that she doodles on everything, she would 100% absolutely try to dye herself gray using sharpies and vodka for a cosplay. She references it all the time and is annoying when you don't understand her jokes. She still tries to get people into it, but she considers Andrew Hussy a mortal enemy these days for Reasons.
Solas is a Song of Ice and Fire bitch. Not the show. The books. "But wait, Boggers!" you might say (if you know me well enough to call me "Boggers"), "What about LOTR? Why isn't Solas into LOTR?" And to that I say, he's definitely read it and is a nerd about it, but this is about fandom, and fandom to someone like a Reddit-addicted bitch like Solas is about theory crafting, debates, and politics, and ASoIaF being complex but unfinished really lends itself to the kind of deep internet toxicity that I think Solas would crave. Also he likes wolves.
Cole is a Supernatural Superfan. He has all the cheesy "join the hunt" merch because for a while it was his chief special interest and all he wanted was SPN stuff. He's kind of obsessed with Baby, specifically. His favorite episode was Baby and he has an AO3 account full of fic written from the car's perspective. He didn't cry in the finale until he saw the Impala under the canvas and he's been lowkey upset at Sam for doing that ever since.
Dorian is an old school Baldur's Gate fan. Like, BG1 and 2. He's played other RPGs of that era, those are just his favorites. What makes him an annoying fan is that he thinks complicated = good and looooooves to complain about how "simple" and "boring" current-era RPGs are. If you can't softblock yourself from all progress by making one mistake two hours into your playthrough, it's too easy. He's active in fandom spaces and is largely helpful, like he writes tips and guides and will answer newbie questions, but the price for his help is dealing with him being smug.
Leliana is a FromSoft fangirl and a Soulslike aficionado. Nightingale says git gud. She'll happily team up with you in co-op to get you through stuff if you ask, but she also explains mechanics and such like you should have known them already and thinks you're just not trying hard enough to listen, even though her advice is almost incomprehensible.
Cullen is an MCU fanboy. He fully believes they're the peak of cinema. He compares literally everything to an MCU movie, as he has seen all of them, multiple times, and thinks you're "thinking about it too much" if you criticize them in more than the most banal of ways. Usually it's fine, like, being excited for stuff is fine and enjoying mainstream things are fine, but you can only have so many "Thanos was a great villain" conversations with this dude before you go insane. Despite seeming incapable of critiquing the MCU, his criticisms of the DCEU are spot-on, sharp, and demonstrative of actually very impressive media analysis skills, but also coming from a starting point of "DC Bad, Marvel Good", so it's like, we could've had it aaaaaaaaall.
Cassandra is in the Bridgerton fandom. She read the original books and liked them, so she was one of the first people watching the show. Most of her fandom stuff happens on Facebook with other book fans. Watching the show with her is fun until the exact second she says "well, in the BOOKS" and then rattles off a list of the most inconsequential changes, distracting you from a pivotal moment in the show and forcing you to rewind. She is very pressed about the seasons going out of order from the books.
Varric is a Critical Role evangelist. He was there when it started, he's listened to everything. He's listened to other real play podcasts and shows, but CR is his favorite. That's not annoying in and of itself, what's annoying is that he will not stop trying to get you to watch it. If you even breathe in the direction of a DnD-related topic he tries to give you "advice on where to start" with CR. His friends put up with it because he's their Forever DM and they love him, but he sure does do a lot more obnoxious sound effects now than he used to and they're planning an intervention about it.
Josephine is a Disney Adult. She seems normal and then bam, you get blindsided by something insane, like that she owns every single Disney character Funko Pop, or that she's gone to DisneyWorld for vacation every year for the last decade, or you go over to her house for dinner and find Hidden Mickeys in her bathroom, or she's really intense about pin collecting and limited edition mouse ear headbands. You wonder when she has the time and energy to collect all this. And there's more of it every time you see her. But the thing is that she's pretty quiet about it as long as you don't poke the bear. You know that she's seen every one of the new remakes in theaters, but you don't dare ask her opinion about them. Her favorite princess is Cinderella and she tells you "the original dress was silver" with exactly the same amount of excited did-you-know energy every time.
I hate to break this to you all, but Iron Bull is a Zack Snyder and Christopher Nolan fanboy. Yep. Yes he is. His toxic trait is that he shuts his brain off and just enjoys the gritty action sequences. He liked Batman v Superman. He bought the Snyder Cut. He thinks Nolan's Batman is the absolute best that franchise has ever been and ever could be. I'm sorry, it's heartbreaking but it's true. I know, I'm sad, too, we can hold each other.
Vivienne has been in the Anne Rice fandom under the same pseudonym for ever. She was one of the original fans and was much more active in fandom when she was much younger, but she made her fannish activities more and more private as she became more established in her career. You would honestly never know it meeting her IRL; at most, people come over for dinner parties and might notice that she owns every single Anne Rice book, but they're part of her overall book collection and don't really stand out. Secretly, though, she's been keeping up with the Anne Rice fandom under a pseudonym this whole time and goes to the more modern in-person events using her fake name. She might kill you if you ever connected her fandom activities to her real life in any way. She's also just, like, she's really bad at letting people be wrong about these books. Really, really, really bad. There are epic-length threads on old forums that are just her and one other similarly deranged person fighting about obscure Vampire Chronicles lore.
And finally, Blackwall is a Game of Thrones girlie. The show, not the books. He's one of those "I don't like fantasy but I like Game of Thrones" guys, and he thinks GoT is mold-breaking and special and better and grittier and more realistic than other fantasy and that's why he likes it. His most irritating fan trait is that he thought season 8 was good and that the ending was good and he likes to get into heated debates with other fans about it. However, he does not know what Reddit is, he only talks with other GoT-watchers in Facebook, which is why he and Solas haven't had the fight to end all friendships yet. Yet.
BONUS! Krem is into Star Wars and Scout Harding is a die-hard Trekkie, and they go to big cons and cosplay together. They're not annoying at all, I just wanted to mention it because I feel like that's in-character for them.
**also if you like this and think "i'm gonna give this fine person a follow because they're so funny about dragon age", i made a new DA sideblog at @skyholdstarbucks where i'd post anything similar to this in the future

the girlfriends have asked
esseastri asked: DAV meme: A L L (but especially 2, 4, 6, and 11) kogiopsis asked: AWW HECK YEAH. DAV asks: 3, 4, 8, 9, and 16?
2. Which Dragon Age game is your favorite so far?
probably 2 for the relationships and whacky plot hijinks and its the one i think about the most now, but i did really miss the tactical parts of dao, so that's my fav gameplay
3. Do you usually play as a warrior, mage, or rogue? Which class are you planning to try first this time around? Which subclass?
rogue and rogue, so probably veil ranger bc i like sniping
4. What does your worldstate look like going into DAV?
my canon one is mildly different from how i actually played it initially bc i couldnt bring myself to leave hawke but i know thats. what should happen for my characters. so i changed it in the keep. still hurts tho. uh, warden is busy skipping around looking for a cure (in game, at least, in my headcanon shes an aeducan so she overthrew bhelen and works on orzammar reform and smooches her divine wife). hawke is poly with all four of the babes (and she would take varric and aveline too if they wanted. canon is just isabella tho) and was mostly running with everyone to keep anders safe but also try and get the mages to calm down and then adamant happened. im so sorry everyone. the spouses are all extremely mad. and then my quiz is still doing quiz things with sera and trying to keep the peace i guess and mad at solas for lying and blowing up her shit. uh. what else matters.
oh i made a post about this once.
6. Do you have your Rook(s) planned out to any degree? If so, would you share some details or ideas you have?
uh. dwarf lady rogue but beyond that no idea. i havent decided on a faction yet bc they all sound interesting but need more details.
8. What faction are you most excited to learn more about?
the veiljumpers i think for new ones but also wardens make me go asdg;asdkhg;asdjf
9. Which romance, if any, do you plan to pursue first?
honestly it will probably be taash bc. big woman. is my type. but damn it emmerich doesn;t sound tempting.
11. What's one thing you'd really like to see in this next game?
im excited to hear about the CC improvement and more hairstyles! i'm playing DAI on my xbox rn (with Elayne Trakand Trevelyen, Daughter-Heir of.... Ostwick. and the hair options are horrendous Elayne would never allow this. Where are her fluffy dresses. I was going to work on my Egwene playthrough but i guess there are no qunari hair options without mods?? and that is just wrong)
16. What's one crack theory you subscribe to (yours or someone else's)?
if you left hawke (or whoever i guess, but no one else is as important as hawke) they're still alive. and theyre either not happy or someone had to make nice with the elvhen gods to get out, and thats gonna be an issue. Or Merrill finally figured stuff out and she will actually get some development or at least a mention!
as a not question: my second playthru is my wheel of time run. I did the boys (Perrin Cousland, Mat Hawke and Rand al'Trevelyen) and I was working on a third wondergirls playthrough. But like. I need a 4th boy. Who's gonna be my 4th boy?? Gawayn or Galad??
#thank u#age of dragons#i have many feefees about my canon group#ah my tags for them are#erya 'double bird salute' aeducan#avi 'oh my maker' hawke#a la bob belchers oh my god voice#and#lidia 'fuck bitches get money' cadash

2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 20 for Dragon Age: Veilguard Questions! :3
Thanks!! Under cut because it's a looooot of text :D
2. Which Dragon Age game is your favorite so far?
I love them all but I'd probably pick DAO for the variety of origin options. DA2 is fun but only picking my class is a bit sad, haha. If it wasn't part of a series with extensive backstory options I would have no problem though, it's a good game and Hawke is interesting.
DAI is where I've put most of my energy for OC creation, so it's dear to me as a story, but replaying the game can be a bit of a drag sometimes, mostly for the stick-limbs and movement animation reasons xD
3. Do you usually play as a warrior, mage, or rogue? Which class are you planning to try first this time around? Which subclass?
I've got oc's of all classes pretty equally, but I usually play mages or warriors, haha. This time I'm planning to try rogue since I have a Rook idea already, but I will probably play a mage soon after too! Subclass idk yet. Maybe Saboteur?
6. Do you have your Rook(s) planned out to any degree? If so, would you share some details or ideas you have?
Yep! I talked about her a bit here! Fiora is my human Crow rogue that I made for an old very short ttrpg game (you might remember her early stabby-auntie draft from there xD) where she was an ex-crow Grey Warden, but after that I dropped the Warden part and kept building her design so I could use her as my Rook or in another ttrpg or something!
(unfinished portrait and picrews is all I have rn lol) She has a dorky and occasionally dark sense of humor but a very good poker face, so she gives off a pretty distinguished impression.
Backstory stuff outside DATV: Being pretty and charismatic Fiora often took jobs for the Crows to seduce targets for information. She had some reoccurring targets that she thought were very charming and fun, and some careless moments led to her going 'oh shit' in her apartment a month or two later.
She didn't want Tobia to grow up a crow so she made a deal with a trusted contact to help her, used an injury as a cover story to go out of the crows' view, and left Tobia with said contact before returning to the Crows. Now she wears semi-permanent knee&wrist braces and sometimes a cane that absolutely has a blade within. She tries to be a parental figure to the crow kids she mentors when others can't see, but takes her role seriously and thinks avoiding the crow's ways of teaching entirely would leave the guild weak. She respects the crows and doesn't wish to leave, she just wants Tobia to have a choice in what he becomes when he grows.
I also toyed briefly with the idea of playing as Nava (my Lavellan's daughter) since in 9:53 she'll be 18, but I think that's still too young and also too much emotional damage ahah
7. Which character from the previous games or other media are you most hoping will make an appearance in DAV?
Honestly, so many. Inquisitor's been confirmed and I'm over the moon about that! Other than that... Dorian, Maevaris, Zevran, Merrill, Sera, Josephine! From other medias I'm hoping for the crows Teia & Viago + Illario, my fav Grey Wardens Evka & Antoine, and of course the classic one, Felassan. I don't need my Warden to appear personally but it'd be fun to get a letter or something like in DAI.
8. What faction are you most excited to learn more about?
I've been intrigued by the Crows for years now, but the trailers really got me excited about the Grey Wardens again too! Veil jumpers and Shadow Dragons seem cool but I think I need to know more before I properly get excited.
9. Which romance, if any, do you plan to pursue first?
For Fiora I think I'll go with Lucanis, he seems fun and fitting for her and it'd be fun to hear the dialogue with their shared faction. But I'll probably start a second playthrough alongside the main one so I can also romance Davrin, he seemed like a delight.
Irl I'm definitely a bit *eyes emoji* at the ladies but I'm too much of an oc-hoarder and lore nerd to play as myself hahah
11. What's one thing you'd really like to see in this next game?
Hmmm I'm kind of just going in and seeing what's up, I don't have specific expectations. But I guess my main hope is that we get a proper conclusion to ongoing plot hooks & character stories, and answers to at least some ongoing questions. Opening new mysteries is a lot more interesting if old ones get closed in the meantime and there's SO MUCH in Thedas.
I guess I would like to see some flashback etc. to get a glimpse of what the ancient elvhenan and dwarven lands actually looked like? Since we've heard about it for so long.
I'm also hoping this game will make me cry like a baby, I live for big emotions in fiction and it takes quite a lot to make me react out loud :'')
20. Post a picture or gif that conveys your current level of excitement for Dragon Age: The Veilguard!
Excitement level: Very.

Thess vs The Grind
No, not the employment-related one. I mean the grind that seems to come standard with so many video games these days. Because apparently the employment-related one isn’t enough for people.
When I first played Dragon Age: Inquisition, I was trying to do it spoiler-free, and ended up flailing so very hard that I missed out on a lot of stuff. Some people I needed to talk to didn’t get talked to, some side quests didn’t even trigger... Let’s just say it’s a really good thing that the Trespasser DLC wasn’t out at that point because I entirely missed Bull’s loyalty quest the first time through. (Though I am still annoyed that they sold us the actual ending as DLC later; so tired of shit like Legacy and Trespasser ripping out stuff we really need to understand future games and then selling it back to us for more money. It’s one thing when a game comes out in chapters; at least you know you’re buying the next installment when it’s chapters. But of course they’re not going to tell us, “Oh, by the way, we’re not giving you the real ending until you pay us more, and there’s a whole bunch of stuff you might need to know about for the next game to make any sense that you can only get if you pay us even more.” It’s ... kind of disgusting.)
Anyway. Point is that when I first started playing Inquisition on the very first run, I had no idea exactly how completionist you had to be to get the entire story. I didn’t realise how much I’d missed until I played a second playthrough with spoilers and walk-throughs and all manner of other shit. I don’t think that should be necessary, y’know? I don’t think you should have to go through the Wiki or be a completionist of the highest order just to get through a game, and I sure as hell don’t think you should have to hack through ninety-eight thousand miles of sweet fuck all in order to get through everything. And yet, that’s exactly what you have to do most of the time in Inquisition. A friend of mine put it best - I like the game that’s buried under the busywork. It just means I have to really be in the mood for the busywork before I can pick up a playthrough again, so it generally takes months to finish one, because I set it aside for weeks on end until I feel like pushing through.
Suffice to say that I finally finished most of a playthrough with an elven mage, something I haven’t really done since my nearly abortive first spoiler-free playthrough when it first came out. In that one, I didn’t get half the loyalty missions done, I never locked in the romance with Cullen I was after (which I think meant I was one of the first in my Tumblr circle to discover that Josephine turns up to offer a friendly shoulder if your Inquisitor’s single during that whole thing in the Winter Palace) ... and Trespasser wasn’t even a thing at that point. I’ve finished Jaws of Hakkon and Descent (I always do that before endgame, even if I don’t want to bring Solas, because I like being heavily overlevelled when I kick Corypheus’ ass - I KILLED HIM ONCE AS HAWKE AND REALLY RESENT HAVING TO DO IT AGAIN; FUCK’S SAKE, COULD WE PLEASE HAVE FINAL BOSSES STAY DEAD?!? DO NOT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE END OF ABSOLUTION), and I’ve only got Trespasser to go. I don’t know what the Fade sections of that look like for an elven Inquisitor ... and I hear rumours about a Cullen wedding before everything goes to the “Dead Qunari” place. I loved the Sera wedding, and I will admit to loving the whole thing where, at the end of the main game, the advisors bow and then Cullen is, “Okay, don’t care if we’re supposed to be dignified and official, I AM HUGGING YOU NOW”, so I’m looking forward to the culmination of that ... even as I hope he’s still surrounded by mabari puppies. (I may dislike Greg Ellis immensely, but I’m not taking that out on a very well-written character who Ellis just happens to voice.)
Honestly, I am still of the opinion that Dragon Age 2 should have been the open world free-for-all and Inquisition should have had a similar (if at least slightly less copy/pasted) structure to Dragon Age 2. I would have been happy to traverse ninety-eight thousand miles of sweet fuck all with Hawke because frankly that’s what Hawke was about, particularly in the first act - trying desperately to make ends meet in Kirkwall as a refugee. Hawke’s story was a sprawling thing where they ended up in the right (or wrong) place at the right (or wrong) time to be pivotal to changing the world, and wandering around doing random grindy shit is part of that. Whereas an Inquisitor should be getting letters at all hours telling them to go to a rather less huge area to fix a thing. Isn’t it funny how, while Dragon Age 2 was the rushed game of the two, Inquisition is the one that leaves you spending a lot of time poking through the turnip and wondering where the meat is, and being told you can’t have your dessert until you eat at least most of said turnip? DA2 just has the higher story-to-faff ratio, when it feels like that should have gone the other way.
I have hopes for DA4. (No, I am not calling it that idiotic name; Dread Wolf is two words anyway.) I don’t know how high they are, but I have them. There’s the meat of a good game in the stew that is Inquisition, once you get through the turnip. I just hope they fix the story-to-faff ratio in DA4, is all.

for the bingo, i really want to hear your thoughts on aveline, sera and compulsory solas lol
my first playthrough i did not appreciate sera near enough, but i always try to befriend everybody my first go around and honestly? by the time we were pulling pranks together i loved her. i def made the mistake of underestimating how smart she actually is my first go around. and i love to see just how she's grown by trespasser! honestly one of my fave chars in dai and an absolute blast to write.
i legitimately love aveline i know people here reeeeally dislike her but there has never been a moment where i did not love her. she is like a sister to my hawke. i love whatever tf she has going on with anders and isabela. let her stick her thumb in her husband's ass. also, on a more serious note, i was watching my bro play da2 when i lost my mother, and her cutscene after leandra dies ("and when someone tells you to 'move on', you take their hand and tell them 'my choice') was exactly what i needed to hear.
ooooooh the egg. ouch ouch ouch. imma be real with you even though i played inquisition in like, 2019, i still somehow avoided spoilers. just. read a list of best romances, decided to romance solas because i always play a lady elf first and he was consistently listed top or second (i did not want to date cullen because he looked like alistair 2.0 and i could never love a blondie like i love him) and went on my merry way. i honestly was so confused why so many people were into this scrunky man, and oh boy did i learn. fell head over heels for him. right before the crestwood scene the first DAD teaser came out and ofc i didn't think it would have spoilers so i watched it at work. queue gdl ominously saying "i suspect you have questions". immediate panic. went home and got broken up with. legitimately cried. he is a rollercoaster, super pathetic and antithetical, incredibly interesting, and, now that i am no longer blinded by the glorious sheen of his bald head, i can admit that he is legitimately a very beautiful person (if a lil funny looking at times). he is everything to me.

Just finished another playthrough of DAI just in time for DAV next month, but hopefully I can squeeze another go in 🤞🏽
I did love that my Inky, Mirage, decided to stick together with Sera afterwards. (Also that she gets a crossbow prosthetic). I was a little worried she’d end up all alone, which would be a little bit of a bad end for her considering she’s not just a social creature, but someone who has never been alone before. Mirage is someone who wants family - and I’m so happy she found that in Sera.
They butt heads so much, but it honestly just gives such sister energy at the end of the day. Especially when they first meet up in beginning of Trespasser and Sera awkwardly offers her condolences about Solas breaking up with Inky and ditching like he did - because they both know Sera wasn’t Solas’ biggest fan and probably felt his betrayal of their group deeply (especially when she was just starting to warm up to him a teensy bit) - but despite all that, Sera really didn’t take joy in Mirage’s pain.
They may argue and chafe at each other, but I think it’s just because they challenge each other and see things in the other that they never dreamed possible for themselves.
Mirage came from the culture of their race, the second to the keeper of her clan, Dalish and “elfy” inside and out when she first comes to the conclave - the beloved golden child of the people who Sera feels scorned by. But Sera gets to choose who she is and what she does, she is not defined by where she comes from or even what she has done, operating in anonymity via Red Jenny. A luxury Mirage knows nothing about as her own actions propel her to the head of a rapidly rising group, beholden to playing politics and one misstep away from being offered sainthood/martyrdom probably.
And still they became one another’s person - not because of fate or destiny, but because they chose one another and continue to choose to love one another. They are a family who did not come with conditions and expectations, but rather speak freely and with whom disagreements are born from caring for one another. They ultimately end up giving each other what the other not only yearns for but also needs. A family that will love them no strings attached.

It's been like...five years and I cannot lie: I am still not over this shit.
[For context, in case you've never pissed Cassandra off that bad]
There are moments in the Dragon Age series that live rent free in my brain (Anders' romanced kiss in DA2 is still one of my Top 10 smooches, sorry not sorry), and there are moments that get me every time no matter how many times I've gone through it (the fall of Ostagar, for example).
But nothing burnt my bacon, my grits, and my house like this friggin scene. For some context, that was my "time to romance Dorian" run, so I'd made a Dalish mage and was going as hard as DAI allowed you to go on being pro-mage and pro dalish (which...let's be real, is not fuckin hard enough). This was my palate cleanser after my "Becky Chantry" run (where I was the good mage noble girl who romanced Blackwall and Cullen cuz I thought they'd be boring and Blackwall almost broke me but that's another story). I knew it was gonna be hard sells for most of the companions but I did not expect a reaction like this from one of the ones that can't up and leave you.
Not only that, but it's just the most viscerally disgusting spew (props to the VA for their reading because again, it's been like 5 years and I'm still feeling ways about it) to come out of a so-called companion. The second Cassandra slurred at me "I made you!" I was done. Most of the run had been a relatively dry re-tread of previous playthroughs (I'd had companions mad and Sera left once and Vivienne told me I was a dumbass and I deserved that lol), but that one singular moment and the fact that she was my last romance to do was enough to finish DAI for me. I haven't played it since I finished romancing Dorian lol
OK DAI FANS WE NEEDTA CHAT
AIN'T NUNYA'LL TOLD ME ABOUT THE 'DRUNK CASSANDRA' SCENE
(Also if ever there was a moment to cement my growing dislike for her, this is it)

So uh.. I got like a bunch of new followers recently, so first off.. Hi everyone! 🙂 (Where did you all come from??) And second, I feel like it's been a minute since I've annoyed anyone with random useless voice acting trivia, and I need to warn remind people that this blog is also a lot of me rambling about German VAs in particular, because I’m a German obsessed with voice acting and I just can't help it.. It's a strange hobby. 😂
I’ve kinda mentioned it before on here (and I will probably never get tired of talking about it lol), but I just need you all to understand just how funny it is that Solas legitimately sounds like he could be in his twenties in German and how that makes him so much more suspicious in a way?? 😂 (To my ears, at least.) Like, judging solely by their voices, Solas genuinely sounds like he could be the youngest out of all the companions in DAI. Yes, he partially sounds even younger than Cole. (And fun fact, I actually looked it up, and his VA is in fact the youngest out of the entire main cast. lmao)
Unnecessarily long rambling incoming... 😶
See, his German VA is known for voicing a lot of teenage boys. But that's what's so hilarious about it. Solas has this super young voice, but then he suddenly talks like this wise old grandpa with this incredible eloquence, who has apparently seen a ton of war and tragedy?? 😂
And then you just sit here on your first playthrough like.. how on earth does this work, like something doesn't add up here. Either he has to be some kind of super brain “prodigy” or he's *definitely* hiding something.. because regardless of just how long you've been "visiting the Fade", there's NO way you know about all this stuff and have THAT much experience, when you.. just came of age. lol
In general, the way he speaks he sounds like a 100 year old with the voice of a 20 - 30 year old man in a 40ish year old body. And then you just sit here talking to him, like "What even ARE you???" 😂
This is especially hilarious to me when he tries to teach Sera about how to lead a rebellion, calls HER a child and gives her all this advice, when in German, he sounds just as old as Sera if not even slightly younger than her.
I remember this one banter with Blackwall about being a war veteran on my first playthrough when he was like "You should've seen me when I was younger" and I stopped in my tracks "What are you talking about?? Aren’t you, like, 25??"
Another little thing I found funny was how they made him say "Weidmannsheil" ("Hunt well") to the Inquisitor at the Winter Palace, which is like a traditional wish for good luck among hunters around here, but also something I have NEVER heard someone under the age of 80 actually say. lmao
Idk, I just feel like it gives his character this additional interesting but kinda bizarre note, where he comes off as so young and brash, which stands in complete contrast to his extensive knowlegde and wisdom and the way he talks.
But that's also what I actually kinda love about it and in a way, it's what I picture *actual* young Solas must've been like... because, being literally called Pride, the very counterpart of Wisdom in DA, it fits so well with what seems to be his internal conflict or maybe even his own past, assuming the Wisdom spirit turning into Pride theory is true.
Like, in a way, I feel like he wants to be the person he claims to be in Inquisition, to be just himself, the man who is nothing but a humble wanderer who shares and seeks wisdom, because that’s who he truly is at his core, what is left if you strip away all the weight of history, duty and rebel leader strategist. But it’s his pride that prevents him from being that person. And given his description of himself in his “youth”, I feel like the Solas of ancient times had that pride and impulsiveness turned up to 11. 😂
Which is also why I just can't get over how much BioWare's choice for this particular VA for Solas fascinates me (and I just want to believe that there must’ve been some good reason behind this choice, given how they knew how big of a role he was going to play.. And from what I’ve heard, BioWare is very considered when it comes to casting their VAs, especially for the companions, even in different languages).
Because with all due respect and credit to the German VA of Solas, Ozan Ünal, I love his work, but with him they chose a voice actor who's mostly typecast to voice the young, nerdy, soft, kinda bubbly protagonist guy with a heart of gold. Like, just to imagine him going any kind of antagonistic route is so funny to me, because that is really the total opposite of what he usually does.
Some casting director at BioWare really sat there and listened to *this* voice and was like "Yep, that's our next antagonist". 😂 And I'm gonna be super honest here, guys.. But regardless of the other 3000 reasons why I don't think that Solas will be the ultimate threat in DA4, this is actually part of the reason why I just can't picture him as a "true villain". Or rather, I'm just super curious to see if his VA could pull that off. 😂
Like, with Gareth David-Lloyd, I feel like he can do literally anything, but Ozan Ünal sounds just way too innocent to be really taken seriously as a threat, you know. 😂
#you can tell.. I think about this a lot 😂#way too much in fact lmao#yours truly - the founder of the Ozan Ünal appreciation club#I love how this is still an established tag on this blog lmao#I know I'm probably like one of five people in this world who like his German voice lol#and I still think that no one can top GDLs performance#but I just love both ok 😂#actually I love Bertrand Nadler in the French version too#they're all great <3#but all jokes aside.. ever since I saw Solas' new model in the gamescom video in 2020..#..I actually have a REALLY hard time to imaging how Mr Ünal's voice is even going to match this new look 😂#like I know I shouldn't judge two seconds of early animation..#but in this short clip it looked almost like they stripped every bit of ''softness'' from him? 😂#and Ünal's voice is nothing BUT soft..? lmao#so uhh I'm REALLY curious how this will end up working.. or *not* working lol#solas#ozan ünal

I just wanted to say that everything you didn't like about playing a Lavellan is everything that made me kind of really dislike my second playthrough of DAI, so I totally agree with what you were saying. I didn't even romance Cullen to make it any better because I'd already done that on my first, human playthrough, so I romanced Josephine, which... Actually i really liked and i did it again on my qunari playthrough which i chose to be the one i consider canon :D
Yeah!!! Granted I don't know what it's like playing a Qunari or dwarf, I imagine there might still be some of the same issues, but it just really stands out as a Dalish elf especially since all of the final conflict seems to revolve around ancient elven magic so the elves are a major talking point that just feels glossed over if you're, y'know, playing as one.
I really like Josephine so I totally understand! The only reason I didn't romance her was because I like it when my romanced character has some internal conflict that somehow reflects the overall conflict of the plot, and as nice as Josephine (and Blackwall and Ironbull) is I thought Cullen had a little more going on for him on that front being an ex-templar trying to give mages a chance and resisting lyrium. That said I did like how Josephine is probably the only one who asks what your life is like as a Dalish elf. Cullen basically just says he doesn't mind you being an elf but hasn't said anything beyond that so far as I know. That's still preferable to me than Solas' 'your culture is wrong' and Sera's 'stop being so elfy'. Like my lavellan was supposed to be the first to their keeper, of course they're 'elfy'.
#thanks for the ask!#here i thought my main issue with this game would be the blood magic#i guess when the game takes away your ability to be a blood mage it's hard to get mad about it lol#anna plays dragon age

@queer-amann So this is going to be a kinda lengthy reply and I had to copy and paste your original reply to answer some of it, Sooooo I am putting it under a cut for space’s sake.
In regards to what you said about Fenris and Blackwall, does it mean you play more as self-insert than roleplay/can't roleplay characters with values that are very different from yours? (that's all valid, it's just interesting to see how different people play the games and how many play styles these games actually allow)
So, I don’t intentionally self-insert when it comes to these games. (I know I end up doing it though) I have played through DA2 with a Pro-Templar agenda, which is the complete opposite of me, and romanced Merrill and hit on Anders as a Red!Hawke. It was difficult though, because I didn’t agree with my own decisions.
As far as romancing Fenris or Blackwall, my roommate said that she doesn’t think I can romance Fenris because he is too like me? which I think is only part of the issue. If it was the whole issue, I wouldn’t be able to romance Anders and I adore him. I think it really is just that I can’t roleplay an anti-mage stance. Even in my Pro-Templar playthrough I romanced Merrill, so I still had mage love in there. Blackwall, he just doesn’t interest me at all. I also don’t think he is bisexual? I usually play as a male!Inquisitor and don’t change that. The only thing I change is my race. I also usually play as a mage, but have played as a M!Rogue Lavellan before. He was one of my faves.
I see what you mean with Josie and Alistair. They're cute when you want some fluff and that's definitely some people's jam, but it's not for everyone and not at every moment of your life. (though you CAN have intense psychological damages from Alistair's romance if you make bad decisions. Not that it happened to me or I'm salty or anything 🤡)
I definitely pissed Alistair off by killing Isolde one time and he went off, but he was super easy to calm down. I felt like I was gaslighting him or something.
Sera's romance is very complicated if you don't want power play or abuse from one hand or the other. It sucks that their first lesbian character fits the toxic sapphic trope Bioware loves so much and you have to headcanon your way out of it so much, like with many DA2 LIs.
The best thing I saw about the Sera romance though is going through and telling everyone that you are dating her and Dorian, Vivienne, and Cullen’s responses are *chefs kiss*
I refuse to believe anyone in the Circle is straight tbh (yay toxic representation with the Templars). He would've definitely been more interesting if he had been bi. He *ahem* needs to open up more. Kinda reminds me of Tali in ME2, who is very intense with femshep and they hug and then she goes "no homo tho" lmao that's cold. Maybe it's my chronic consumption of queer medias that give me a brainrot, but yea, I think you're good and he's indeed hitting on M!Inquisitor or having a small crush and then they cut it short because they didn't have the time to make him bi or something (funny how they always have the time to make their characters a straight option tho).
RIGHT He definitely did then. He is all like “as I was saying” all sultry-like to the M!Inquisitor.
I also don’t think anyone who came from the Circle is straight. I got that idea when they brought Anders back in DA2 and he was pansexual. The fact that he was a womanizer in Awakening and then this HUGE shift to falling for Male Hawke the second he saw him and Cullen just being Cullen in DAI, I was like… oh they all gay in Kinloch at least.
What happened with Solas that put you off and how come it didn't work with Bull, if I may ask? (I mean I definitely see how a certain Tevinter being around and stealing the spotlight doesn't help lol. We all have a bunch of characters we're Very Normal about)
So, when it comes to Solas, I have an extreme dislike of him. His story and his interactions with the Fade are interesting for sure, but the romance bored me to death. The chaste romances are always super boring for me. I kinda need the “implied” sex haha.
Bull… I was having issues flirting with him. Every time I hit on him he would just say like “uh huh” or “why” or he would get offended that I was protecting him and stuff.
Zev was like, the most unexpected character of the list tbh! I would've thought he would have caught your attention! Did you just got bored with him?
With Zevran I actually just had no interest in progressing his romance past sleeping with him. I have since learned that his romance is actually incredibly interesting, but like the game mechanics for DAO are bad for me now. The fighting kinda takes you out of the game (by not controlling each swing of your sword etc) that I just can’t really replay it. I have tried since then. I can only replay Awakening, much shorter.
I like the mental image of the Warden trying to stealthily get out of Leli's grip and thinking she's completely insane, it's beautiful.
I had a fight with Morrigan and broke it off with her and went after Leliana. Leliana told me she loved me after sleeping with me and then like.. was trying to say we would be together forever and stuff. So I broke it off with her and talked to her again and she was saying the same things! I couldn’t get away from her. I actually had to reload a save and get my relationship with Morrigan back.
The Isa approval fuckery definitely didn't happen to me last playthrough djfjfkf. Though there's a vibe about Hawke being dumped by their wife on front of everyone and divorced but nobody has done the legal papers and now you need a court order to get back the overpowered items you gave to her before she left
Based. There's a mod that fixes that on PC, thanks the Creators.
I play on XBOX so no mods. I just lost Isabela and couldn’t get her back in that game. I frequently forget about her approval level and think of her as Varric and everything is just kinda cool with them. So I lose her a lot.
I'm a sucker for Hawke who have a very unsubtle and unrequited crush on Cullen. Garrett-dear likes Circle sandwiches and we stan. What is your HC about it? Did Hawke flirt with him? If so, how did Cullen react? How does Garrett react to Cullen in DAI (and the DAI companions, if you want to expand on it and still need some distraction)?
My HC about Garrett having a crush on Cullen is that he and Anders would have a competition for who could get Cullen to crack/blush first. Hawke would show up with his biceps exposed for Cullen to see and try flexing to get his attention. Anders would just be as provocative as possible towards Hawke and like try making out with him in front of Cullen to get his attention. What finally gets Cullen to crack is Garrett showing up in just his smalls and shoes and he catches Cullen’s lingering glance. Cullen never outright acknowledges the crush, but he definitely is not opposed. He’s the Champion of Kirkwall for Maker’s sake!
Garrett actually didn’t realize until super late that Cullen was even with the Inquisition. When he joined Varric outside the War Room is the first time he found out that he was there. At this point, his crush has subsided and he is totally comfortable with his relationship with Anders while on the run, so Cullen no longer has an effect on him.
Garrett’s reactions to Companions:
Dorian- Good guy to get a drink with, very attractive, loves his confidence. He has stories for days and he thinks Dorian needed to meet Fenris and Anders and watch the debates that follow.
The Iron Bull- Not well received considering he is who killed the Arishok. He is very weary of the Iron Bull and the Ben Hassrath because of his interaction with Tallis. He slowly begins to notice that Bull is different from the other Qunari he has encountered and by the end of his time there, he is on okay terms with him.
Vivienne- Hates her. He thinks she is a bitch and that she is just using the Inquisitor to further her own political goals. He doesn’t trust her and doesn’t like her love for the Circles, especially since it is my HC that he actually did help with the Chantry Boom and Varric lied to cover it up on Anders’ behalf.
Solas- He has a feeling that Solas has ulterior motives, he just isn’t sure what they are. The way he speaks is off from the other apostates/Dalish he has encountered and he writes to Merrill with a description of the man with both of them feeling nervous about him.
Blackwall- He thinks he is a good man. He knows he isn’t a Warden though because he doesn’t answer any of his questions that he got the answers to from Anders already.
Cassandra- He basically hates Cassandra because she kidnapped his BFF and wanted to beat the shit out of her. He would lose that fight though because he is a mage, and she can basically light him on fire from the inside out.
Varric- He knows Varric lol
Sera- Thinks she is annoying and she doesn’t trust him and his mage “shite”. He stays away from her.
Cole- He sees Cole as a potential option for Justice. If he can find a way to separate his love from Justice, then Justice could be his own sentient being outside of Anders. Seeing Cole gives him hope for his future.
Are there any LIs you never romanced in the DA franchise? If so why?
Also does any of your OC has a unrequited crush on a character?
Oh there are plenty @queer-amann, like a shocking amount considering how many times I have played these games. I am adding a 3rd option to this because there are quite a few that I have just... failed.
Never romanced:
Origins~
Alistair- I couldn't really tell you why except that maybe it is because I had already seen the romance? My roommate, and best friend, played the games first while I watched her. She is a strong Alistair-mancer and so I don't need to see it again? If that makes sense. Overall, I think his romance is cute, but boring.
DA2~
Fenris- I like his character arc. I think it is really interesting. I am very pro-mage though, so we clash on opinions a lot.
Inquisition~
Sera- I have watched her romance on Youtube to see how it was. It was cute, but she annoys the shit out of me. I couldn't do it.
Blackwall- I can't get behind romancing someone who's entire identity is based on a lie. I also clash opinions with him.
Josie- Another one that is too fairytale. Much like Alistair, I find it boring. Not enough at stake. I like my people slightly insane.
Cullen- I have only played as a female one time and that was to play a Solas romance so I could see what other people were talking about. My roommate has romanced Cullen before. The entire thing is cute, but not for me. I probably would be more open to romancing him if the bisexual coding had been left in. I mean he hit on my Inquisitor? or maybe I misread his intentions, idk.
Failed Romances:
Solas- I got bored. Not gonna lie, I cannot stand Solas so that is probably why we didnt work out.
The Iron Bull- I was having issues getting him into the romance phase. Eventually I gave up and went after Dorian again before abandoning this playthrough.
Zevran- I honestly just wanted to sleep with him to see what he said. I didn't take it further than that.
Leliana- She got super clingy in Origins which skeeved me out. I backed away slowly on this one.
Isabela- I was romancing her, but then forgot to get her approval high enough and she left after Act 2. Whoops.
Sebastian- I hated playing as a female Hawke. The animations for her walk was way to feminine and it drove me insane.
(Edit: forgot a failed romance)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As for unrequited crushes, the only one who comes to mind is Garrett. Garrett Hawke has a huge crush on Cullen and wants to destroy him. He wants him and Anders to let him "Know why mages are feared" if you catch my drift.
(Send me an ask to distract me!)

DAI Playthrough idea
Inquisitor Lucien Flavius Trevelyan. Ex-Circle mage, mostly content with life in the Ostwick Circle, likes the learning and academic side, does miss his parents, but no inclination to rebel until it was actually happening, at which point he ran off with the rebels because all his friends were doing it. Not religious, no real belief in Andraste whatsoever but kept quiet about it in the Circle. Since leaving, he’s become a lot more open about his views, and found to his surprise more people than he thought shared them, and there’s enough anger at the Chantry for him to acquire a coterie of fans and fellow freethinkers. He’s at the Conclave hoping to try and talk some sense into the Templars but it doesn’t go well.
Decisions!
Broadly pro-mage, not very pro-Chantry. Not anti exactly, but very much not pro either and really doesn’t like the Herald of Andraste title. Not up to speed on elven issues but the more he learns the angrier he gets at the Chantry, and he does find the culture fascinating.
Goes to Redcliffe to talk to the mages, finds out about the bargain with Tevinter, goes ‘what the actual hell have you done’ and ends up sorting that mess out. Templars can very much sort themselves out in his mind. He wasn’t harmed at the Circle but he saw things happen to others. Gives the mages an alliance. They were his friends after all.
As Inquisitor he wants to stand for order and justice rather than the faith or revenge and does his best to pick merciful, rational choices where possible. After Adamant, he keeps the Wardens as Inquisition allies, and at Val Royeaux, there’s a good chance of him getting all three parties to work together. Failing that, he’ll keep Celene as Empress, with or without Briala at her side. At the Well of Sorrows, Morrigan is getting the power - Lucien hears the words binding geas and goes nope, not for me kthnx.
Romances:
Awkward demisexual who preferred books and studying to anything else, Lucien’s got no romance experience but might consider it for the right person.
Cassandra: too intimidating by far! Also twice his age. Even if he was into intimidating older women, Cassandra has expectations of a romantic hero who will sweep her off her feet. Lucien has no idea where to even start so... doesn’t. Also she will not shut up about the Maker, and Lucien has spent the past two years becoming a fervent atheist and loving not having priests around any more. He can’t pretend to be Andrastian for her sake.
Iron Bull: Bull’s stories about his sexploits make Lucien’s eyes pop out and his hair stand on end. As far as romance goes, Lucien is fleeing in the opposite direction from this one. They get on well enough, and Lucien’s curious about the Qun... but not curious about anything else, thank you very much. Still, he cares enough to save Bull from the Qun.
Dorian: a possibility, and Dorian would definitely be interested, but it’s more likely these two will end up as besties rather than boyfriends. Never say never though. Lucien's really not OK with the way Dorian's family treated him and completely sides with him over it. If Lucien was accidentally flirting with him previously, Dorian might well choose that moment to confess his feelings. Not known how Lucien would respond.
Josephine: most likely out of all of them. Pretty, cultured, goes out of her way to make Lucien feel at ease, Lucien would likely adore her. Also the duel scene would be way more poignant with Lucien the inexperienced mage going rapier to rapier with a master duellist for her affections. Plus they’re both probably demi.
The rest of them:
Cullen: hasn’t got a clue what to make of this somewhat unimpressive young man but he’s who the faithful are rallying around and the only one who can close rifts so he’ll keep him alive. Becomes steadily more impressed with Lucien over the course of things. Lucien talks him out of going back on lyrium, having no wish to see anyone shackled by the Circle if they don’t want to be there, even Templars.
Leliana: scares the hell out of him. “No, don’t murder people!” becomes a common refrain. However, over time, she softens, he starts to see her less scary side, and he’s able to talk her down from murdering Sister Natalie. On seeing the change in her after, he’s got no hesitation supporting her for Divine.
Blackwall: they get on rather well! Lucien respects Blackwall’s experience, always appreciates a big strong fighter to hide behind, and Blackwall’s avuncular nature appeals. Finding out the truth about him is heartbreaking but Lucien can’t help but rescue him and give him another chance to do better.
Solas: Lucien respects his skills, does rely on his advice, but there’s something a bit off there. He doesn’t know what though. He wants to like Solas, but something just rubs him up the wrong way. Still, he’s a useful companion, they do get on, Solas seems to approve of Lucien’s decision-making on the whole, and Lucien loves asking him about ancient elven culture. He's less keen on the whole 'what if the Veil wasn’t here’ angle though. Solas disappearing will feel like a betrayal and really hurt.
Vivienne: nothing in common at all. Excellent chance he never recruits her in the first place. If he does, he spends the entire adventure regretting it.
Varric: takes Lucien under his wing from the outset and looks after him. Lucien’s appalled by some of Varric’s wilder exploits but does laugh anyway, and the two become fast friends. Even if Lucien does keep wanting to know how Bianca works.
Sera: they drive each other up the wall but Lucien is somehow still fond of her. That Tempest stuff is terrifying though.
Cole: weirds Lucien out completely, but he senses the spirit’s heart is in the right place and a spirit who turned human?? Come on, that’s a paper in its own right! Cole’s fate could go either way, but I suspect Lucien will go for the human option.
Lucien's parents: never had any other kids. They still miss and mourn him. They've been worried sick since the rebellion started and Lucien disappeared. He never wrote because there'd been no contact allowed for over a decade and it never occurred to him. But word of their son surviving the Conclave and joining the Inquisition reaches them and they put all family business in their steward's hands and go to Haven. They get there in time to find the ashes, but returning scouts, maybe even the Chargers, can tell them Lucien is not only alive but Inquisitor and take them to Skyhold. Cue tearful reunion, Lyra as quartermaster, Davidicus joining the researchers, either available as a party member if Lucien needs them.
Training specialty: none of the mage ones appeal. Knight-Enchanter? “No I don’t want to be up close and personal with the enemy, I want to be far away from the stabby things!” Rift Mage: “so... the initial innovators of this field are all dead due to the magic destroying them, and the second wave of experts are all off their trolley due to magical weirdness and seeing their friends disintegrated. Er... think I’ll give this one a miss, thank you very much.” Necromancer: “NO!”
In the end, he ends up studying Artificer after persuading his advisors that just because he's a mage doesn’t mean he should only study magic. “There’s so much else to study and learn! It can’t just be learning about magical energies and the Fade! There’s a rest of the world to see and study! Why should being able to do one thing make me incapable of doing anything else?” Cue magically enhanced traps, grenades and possibly some sort of Dwemer laser-enhanced crossbow thing replacing his staff.
Trespasser Lucien is a bit more cynical and battle-hardened and the constant pain from the Mark is no joke either. He’s honestly not surprised at Solas’s identity by the time it comes out, not as much as he should be. Does his best to save the dragon, would like to try and save Solas from himself if possible, but isn’t that committed to the idea. Disbands the Inquisition entirely, thinking it has served its purpose, and then returns to his parental home. He’s reinstated as their son and heir and is soon using Trevelyan money to build himself a whole series of prosthetic arms with a variety of attachments. Just in time for the big society wedding involving the Trevelyan heir and the Montilyet heir whose families saw a couple in love and made the wedding decision for them. Mostly they end up living in Antiva but Lucien’s parents are regular visitors... as are the rest of their former Inquisition colleagues.

What are your gay ships if you have any? Name the ship, charters and fandom. 🏳️🌈🏳️🌈
Hey anon! ^_^ Here you go! I doubt this is all of them, but it’s all I could think of today.
Dragon Age: Inquisition
Adoribull (Dorian x Iron Bull) - A secondary ship in my Solavellan fic "The Dead Season"
Sera x Dagna - Also a secondary ship in "TDS"
Hawke x Fenris - Also a secondary ship in "TDS"
Sera x Trevelyan (OC) - my first DAI playthrough!
Red Dead Redemption 2
Arthur Morgan x Albert Mason - I ship them in my chapter fic "That he may hold," one of my favorite all time ships that I've ever written.
Vandermatthews (Dutch x Hosea) - Lightly shipped in "That he may hold" and "The Lily Farm"
Charthur (Arthur x Charles) - I have no fics for them, but I love them!
Molly x Sadie - I saw this somewhere and yes, I ship it lol.
The Last of Us (2)
Ellie x Dina - I ship them in my fic "As You Were"
Ellie x Riley - my TLoU otp, tbh. I love Dina, but Riley's death was so hurtful. I’m still not over it ;-;
The Walking Dead
Rickyl (Rick x Daryl) - This is my favorite non-canon ship from TWD. Though I prefer and write them as best friends, I can totally ship the romance.
Tara x Denise - ;-;
Aaron x Jesus - Honestly the fact that they didn't get to be together pissed me off more than any botched ship in TWD second only to Beth x Daryl >:(
Have a great day! ❤️

dragon age for the fandom asks :)
t h i r d t i m e ‘ s t h e c h a r m
first time I did it on mobile, it crashed, and it didn’t save, the second I went to go hang out with my partner after i /thought/ I hit post but Apparently Didnt, so here goesssss
prefacing this with saying I played the games out of order, haven’t even managed to play da2 (haven’t been able to buy it yet :pensive:) so my opinions might not be informed as a more intense fan. Buut, still love the games and still have Opinions:tm:
First character I fell in love with: 110% Josephine. When I first saw her, I was like “If I can’t hold her hand this world will be unfixable and I will have no purpose in living anymore” and then I saw the flirt option when talking to her and lost my goddamn mind. It was so nice to see a story where there was just. No Tragedy (to an extent), no dying, it felt like I got to live out my sappy romantic dreams :’) she was my first romance in a DA (or bioware game in general) and she’ll always have a special place in my heart,,
Character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Honestly? Wynne lmao, I thought she would just be “nagging old lady” but she grew on me and to this day I still love her. Even when she was trying to keep me from doing the horizontal tango with Leliana smh /j
Character everyone loves that I don’t: Surprise Surprise, Cullen. When I first started playing Inquisition (since. again, out of order,) he was just slightly annoying to me, if a bit offputting. I didn’t wanna be around him that much, felt some of comments were. strange, so say the least, but then... Then, I played Origins.
And I fucking hated him.
I can get why some people might like Cullen. I am not one of those people. After doing the circle quest and having to deal with his “kill all the mages” bullshit, I just... Look, I felt bad for him, but still. In my grand opinion, he shouldn’t have. Uh. Wanted to kill all the mages <3 he’s in my top 5 least favorite characters (and yes, I am aware of his addiction story, and while I still feel bad about that, I just... That doesn’t exactly “redeem” his prior actions, for lack of a better term).
Character I love that everyone else hates: I’m not sure if she gets a lot of hate, but Sera. Seeing a lesbian character who will get a happy ending made me really happy. Sure, you can... Dismiss her at any time, there’s almost no interactions that I can remember where you can be nice/understanding with her (even if the interaction gains approval) and sometimes her “my way or the highway” is really shitty (again, for lack of a better term) but still. I love her, I really do. One of my first times seeing an openly, quite unapologetic lesbian in games, and it’s still kinda important to me. I dunno. I was still trying to figure out who I was, I only recently really embraced “lesbian” as my own label, and I guess you could really attribute part of that to her. But, if she isn’t really hated, then disregard this. I’ve just seen some really nasty things people said about her.
Character I used to love but don’t anymore: Solas... And no, not because of his dreadwolf reveal. I enjoyed that! I like the thought of him as a villain! But, like... Lots of stuff started to wear on me, like... It’s been a while since I last played but he always felt quite condescending once I talked to him a bit more, just a bit “I’m superior to you haha.” I was playing a lavellan for this first playthrough, and... I dunno. I don’t hate him! I just don’t really love him. He’s worn on me, and not in a good way.
Character I would totally smooch: You want a list? Sera, Josephine, Leliana, and Qunari lady from the da4 trailer.
Character I want to be like: I don’t think I have a character I’d particularly wanna be like! If I had to choose, I’d pick Dagna, because I respect her dedication to. Learning. JDFKSD (can you tell I’m tired of doing this for the third time?)
Character I’d slap: Cullen <3 I would say Meredith too but even though I know she’s. uh. kinda fucking bad I’ll wait until I play DA2 to say so with Confidence
Pairing I love: Merribela, Leliana/Josephine, and really most pairing between pc/npc, save for a few exceptions, such as...
Pairing i hate: Cullen/Mage. Any mage. Mage Inquisitor. Mage Warden (hghg). Mage random character on the street you yoinked up. Just... No. Nope. Nuh-uh. Usually I’m very “do your own thing, idc if I don’t like it :)” but that’s like... Major nope. Ya know... Kill all the mages in the circle. (Plus, his feelings for a mage warden? When he’s in a position of power over her? :////////////) But! no hatred for anything else, really!
Thank you for the ask!
#cullen critical#uhh that's the only one since I don't think that counts as solas hate?#anyways.#I keep my opinions a bit mild but reeeeaaally I do have Strong Thoughts about some things#I just keep them to myself :')#the one I think I'm pretty fucking open about: hate cullen. Hate the templars. Very pro mage#never conscript the mages I did it once and was in awe at how mean it was#ESP COMPARED TO THE TEMPLARS LIKE. CONSCRIPTING THE TEMPLARS WAS SO 'FIND REDEMPTION WITH US :)))' AND CONSCRIPTING THE MAGES WAS LIKE#'RAGH MAGES SUCK JOIN US NOW OR ELSE'#at least from what I. Remember JSDFKSDKF and my memory might be wrong!#my last full playthrough was when I played like. 40 hours straight almost no break over a weekend#barely even slept </3#ANYWAYS thanks for the ask :DD#ask game

My favourite parties in the Dragon Age games:
Origins:
Alistair, Morrigan and Zevran; I romance Alistair everytime, Morrigan is best girl and most powerful girl, and even though Zevrant can’t pick a lock to save his life I like having him for banter and just on the off chance I might romance him one day and get over Alistair (Spoilers, I probably never will)
Sten, Wynne and Alistair; For when I need to take the offensive in missions, get the two strong bois with me casting magic and sweet Wynne healing us every ten seconds. I also love Sten...just thought I’d mention that...
Dragon Age 2:
Fenris, Anders and Varric; All the different classes together and also they have some of the best and most interesting banter. I kinda like the idea of Anders and Fenris putting up with each other because their two favourite people are in the party, Varric and Hawke. But whenever they do bicker I feel like Varric would nudge them on rather than try to stop them like Hawke. Also Anders and Fenris tend to be the most powerful in my opinion in combat so they’re useful to have around. These are also my favourite boys (And only boys, sorry Seb stans but Sebastian is just a massive inconvenience)
Aveline, Isabela and Fenris; Again, for when I need to take an offensive. Just two strong peeps hammering into the enemies with Isabela putting in those extra hits and the three of them keep enemies distracted while I fling spells from afar. Also, Aveline is one of the best companions in Dragon Age fuck anyone else who thinks otherwise and as a mangy FenHawke romancer I can’t not bring Fenris at every damn opportunity.
Inquisition:
Dorian, Cassandra and Varric; I always like to have a party with all the classes present and these three are by far the most entertaining companions. Their approval is the most important thing in my playthroughs and how can I not take Varric with me at every opportunity? You know how happy I am we got Varric TWICE despite people saying Dragon Age 2 was the worst on the series (Y’all are wrong btw) and Dorian and Cassandra are fabulous geezers.
Solas, Blackwall and Sera; Best banter, all classes, all powerful. Blackwall and Sera have the best friendship need I say more?
Iron Bull, Cole, Dorian: My guilty pleasure Party.

Replaying DAI for the second time and thinking “Maybe this time I’ll actually try one of the romances”...
...and then I remember that my options with dudes are Angsty Fake Warden and Height Difference From Hell, and Sera feels too young for me, so... Josie?
This is exactly why I usually just go for Harding. They all feel vaguely wrong.
I’ve been thinking of going for a very Templar-sympathetic Travelyan playthrough next time, just to see the other side of things, though. Maybe. Not touching Solas romantically with a ten foot pole, though, even if I’ll eventually try Lavellan.
