The Deck of Fates by Brian Patterson
The Deck of Many Things is one of the most infamous (and dangerous) magic items in the lore of Dungeons & Dragons. I have used it a few times. It brings chaos and wild stories to campaigns. I have opinions (I even made a t-shirt with the hyperbolic version of my opinions), but there is no denying the deck is fun.
A few years ago, I started tinkering with the concept of how the deck would work in Karthun. With gods and powerful arcane spellcasters obsessed with fate, it made sense that a different version of the deck exists. A version that is less about wildfire destruction and pure chaos, and more about changing the ebb and flow of an individual’s fate. The deck would bring change, but less of the campaign ending consequences.
Today, I present my version of the deck: The Deck of Fates.
I hope that you enjoy it. If there is enough interest, I will consider going in and illustrating each of the cards to make a fully formed print-and-play deck for table use.
And as always, if this variant isn’t your cup of tea, change it up or just skip it. It’s cool.
Thank you so much for your support. Patrons allow me to create content like this (and the wave that is coming in). Have a great weekend!

Initiative Trackers
Publisher: d20Monkey
Looking for a simple and effective way to keep track of combat initiative order? These initiative trackers from Brian Patterson allows players and GMs to print and customize their trackers with quick-glance info such as hit points, armor class, and saving throws, as well as space for additional notes and character illustrations for any artists at the table.
This PDF contains an easy-to-print sheet in printer-friendly latter-size, black-and-white format. Use standard copier paper or for added durablity, use letter-size card stock in a variery of colors.
Once printed, these trackers can be used as table tents for players, or draped over the top of GM screens in initiative order (with the quick stats facing the GM side to keep things moving).
These initiative trackers work with any system that tracks turn order, but are specifially formatted to work with 5e Dungeons & Dragons.
Price: $3.00 Initiative Trackers published first on https://supergalaxyrom.tumblr.com

I had already been thinking about buying the rulebook for the Dread horror RPG when I got to this arc while reading the d20monkey backlog. This pushed me over the edge and made me order it immediately. This arc starts in-game where the GM had to be away and prepared a self-running session of Dread for his players. If you want a more mechanical look at the game, take a look at the GeekNights Indie RPG Spotlight on Dread. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JpUUU3T34Zc https://dreadthegame.wordpress.com/about-dread-the-game/ http://www.d20monkey.com/

Go Hideki, by Brian Patterson
Last year, during @savingthrowshow‘s (the greatest RPG-focused channel on Twitch, fight me) ALZ benefit marathon, I won a raffle for a number of prizes. One of those prizes was a character portrait from D20 Monkey and Karthun creator (and absolute mensch). When it came time to collect, I decided to have Brian draw The Dirty South’s signature NPC, and I think he did a bang up job.
Thanks once again to Brian for his patience with my prompts/feedback, and to the folks at Saving Throw Show for putting on a wonderful marathon for a great cause.

Not sure which method @usmelinuk uses to ‘train’ her dice, whichever one it is it seems to work bloody well for her.
