From within-infant-rind: ask for an ask! For the dnd ask, how long have you been playing dnd? What got your into it? Also, tell me about your favourite character!

So, I've been playing D&D for about a full year now, since October last year... which is kinda crazy when I think about it

As for favourite D&D character, I swear just about all of them are my favourite but I've been playing lots of Giovanni.

Giovanni is my Half-Orc Oathbreaker Paladin who just happens to be part of the mafia. As the oldest member of the party and the only one who has a staggering one healing spell, he has accidentally become party dad. Basically he's just a gruff, strong half-orc trying to keep these kids out of trouble and failing.

He also has an eldritch tentacle thing, that he calls Cecil, that talks to him and gives him his oathbreaker powers and also happens to be two of the party members patrons. Though only he knows that.

Touchstarved + Pokémon Crossover

I'm a big fan of the two games, so for the heck of it, I decided to throw the main cast of Touchstarved into the world of Pokémon! I came up with some Pokémon they might use and what their roles could be if they were in it >:D

Leander

Considering his role in the TS universe and how sociable he is, I think he’d make a great Gym Leader! He was probably a member of the Elite Four but he dropped out. Leander's Bloodhounds would be the trainers that fight you before you get to him! (Despite his position, he may also just be a Little Bit Evil™, kind of like Giovanni) I can see him having a more varied team, but he seems suitable for Poison/Bug type! (or Normal type to really emphasise that he’s normal guys he’s so normal- /j /lh)

His team might look something like:

Scizor

Venusaur

Nidoqueen

Ais

Honestly?? I can see him filling a lot of roles! (It's because of the protagonist energy he gives off-) I can see him being a Gym Leader like Leander, but I love the image of him being a rival to the MC! He’d probably prefer more tougher Pokémon in a fight (though I don’t think he’d shy away from Pokémon that are harder to raise), so he might lean towards Fighting and Water type. (He’d also have a dog Pokémon nicknamed Princess,,)

I can see him being a Pokémon Professor or Teacher! He’d probably lean towards Fairy and Normal type :D I can see him having service Pokémon (like how Nurse Joy has her Chansey), if only because he is a doctor in the original TS universe... (I also like to think that even though his team may be comprised of service Pokémon, if they were put in a fight, they would absolutely destroy the other team 💀)

His team might look like:

They’d probably be a Pokémon Researcher? I don’t think they’d have that many Pokémon on their team, to be honest,, They might have a preference towards Flying + Ghost types, but I have a hard time seeing them being super into Pokémon battles - they probably only fight when it's necessary!

I think he’d be an admin on one of the enemy teams! (Maybe the Senobium in this universe is the enemy team...?) He’d be a very skilled trainer - his Pokémon are probably more focussed on speed and attacking-- I can see him leaning towards Fire and Dark type!

I can see her being a Pokémon Breeder! I like the image of her going off on a journey of a Pokémon Trainer and putting her duties as a breeder temporarily on hold, but I'm not entirely sure how it would kick off-- Maybe she goes on this journey to see the world, or, if we want to tie in the original game, go look for a cure to heal a mysterious illness of one of the Pokémon she looks after? I can see her team being Pokémon consisting of Psychic + Normal types!

Ok... I may be making a bit of a storyboard... (I hate making them because they are so annoying and just UGH but yk)

One problem I encountered tho is not having like... The canon designs for some pretty important characters, like Giovanni with young Pietro and Virgil; the guys who yoinked Armor; Vast's parents (ik he looks like a lot like her 'dad' but still-) and their SISTER, we've heard so much stuff about her in the memories but haven't actually seen her much.

Also remembering what birds everyone is is kinda making me go crazy but ok.

This could also be a really cute Collab idea ngl.

I really want to actually use some fanon ocs for the dead bird kiddos/teens (cause Heyhay made the post regarding how training ends at 16 so like, I presume they can get turned into birds even after 8 yo?) but I don't want to actually ask anyone cause my motivation sucks, even tho I have the ideas, and have divided the song in parts where specific characters will show up, and have started the storyboard, I am pretty sure it will just be another project left to be dusty :((( and I really don't want that to happen cause it happens every time and I hate that :(((

I drew this yesterday. Michael D. Mortemaster is a vampire of the blood-sucking variety. He's trans and a very feminine dude. He's the son of another OC of mine, Count Beefsteak...

Yeah, the hat with bat wings in this picture, the one Giovanni Monotoli wears when he's on the hunt for his enemies. That hat is Michael Mortemaster's father. Basically, before Count Beefsteak became a hat, before he even became a tomato sauce vampire, he was a normal blood-sucking vampire, and Michael was his offspring from that time.

I'm not sure how Mike meets Maurice, but... does it really surprise you that Maurice ends up dating the son of a bloodthirsty, murderous, very evil vampire?

Even more random facts that couldn't make it into the profile page(s):

Viola is single and prefers it that way.

Given her newfound "weaknesses" concerning noise and light, a couple of modifications had been made to her suit, so to include noise-filtering pads and photochromic lenses.

Viola's fear response if not "flight" nor "fight", it's a third thing called "fright".

Due to her overall quiet demeanour, it would take Viola quite a lot of pressure to hear her break into any sort of Italian swearing.

Despite her anxiety, the job Viola tried to keep was in a customer support call center. She worked there until the company moved onto a more exploitable profitable location.

Viola's been on a wild goose chase job hunting since then. However, while "officially unemployed", she actually has a few side gigs to make ends meet.

It was Giovanni's idea to have "La Donna Ragno" make some public appearances, so that Viola could have a more decent source of income while forever-waiting for a steady job that may never come. It also took quite a lot of convincing.

Although it may hurt her Italian soul from within, Viola tries her best to ignore how some people would "ruin" some dishes. "Well... You're the one eating that abomination, not me" she would say.

Her actual pet-peeve would be people making a completely different dish and calling it what it is clearly not. She is still trying to recover from witnessing to a "traditional carbonara sauce" being made with fresh cream, green peas and bacon.

Viola wouldn't call Miles "the original anomaly". She would define him as either "a living paradox" or more simply "a victim of circumstance". The only "actual anomaly" in her book would be the Spot himself, given that himself and Dr. Octavius have been the ones to open the portal that got the itsy bitsy spider from Earth 42 all the way to Earth 1610 in the first place. She would also keep the thought to herself, given the very short fuse of some "ninja-vampire spider-man".

Even on Earth 80039 there is an experimental collider, but somehow it got spared by the Spot out of sheer coincidence. The guy kept jumping dimensions looking specifically for "AlcheMax", while a similar institute is actually named "GEN-EVO" in Viola's universe.

"GEN-EVO" is a recall to the real-life city of Geneva in Switzerland, where the CERN institute is located, along with some collider.

For real, tho; it all started with a "let's give this ATVS movie a shot, since everyone's been praising it that much". Then I was roaming several tag sections to hoard fan arts like a gremlin, and also seeing people coming up with their own Spidersona/OCs. Next thing I knew, my brain poked me and whispered "you know what would be a fun past time? :)" and immediately sucked me into the "make-an-oc" spiraling hellpit.

And of course, being totally unable to draw a single thing myself, I bribed commissioned @d-structive to draw the new bean. Yes, all three drawings up there have been made by her, following the references I pulled using dress up games like X-Girl and Chibi Maker 1.1 as "guidelines".

A: Of the fanfic you’ve written, which is your favorite and why?

So I answered this one here, but I'm going to cheat and pick a second favorite.

summer slipped us underneath her tongue will always have a special place in my heart, for sure. I call it my own Giovanni's Room, though nowhere as sad so how much like Giovanni's Room really is it hahah.

It was the first fully finished multi-chapter story I wrote for this fandom, and gosh I'm glad it was that one.

D: What’s the most personal fanfic you’ve written?

Oh it's got to be tender eyes that shine, the Carlos character study. Getting into the head-space of a character that hasn't truly allowed himself to cry was an adventure, and probably one I won't go on ever again. Not that I regret it, but it definitely left me in a weird head-space for a few months!

That said, I had so much fun playing around with the structure and wordplay. One of my favorite lines is said by one of my favorite OCs, Carlos' therapist, Dr. María Ortiz:

“Carlos, you died,” Dr. Ortiz is blunt with her phrasing. “Unless you’re Jesus Christ himself, that’s not something you can just walk back from.”

F: Is there a song or a playlist to associate with love can pull you out of yesterday?

I feel like saying Carole King's So Far Away is too easy and John Gorka's Love Is Our Cross to Bear is too much of layup since that's where the title comes from, so I'm going to go with Leaves by Charlie Dée.

I often say it sounds like the kind of music they play at the end of a bittersweet police procedural episode and those vibes are what helped me write the first two chapters I'm 100% serious.

N: Any fic ideas brewing that you’d care to share?

Oh I've always got dozens, but as of today, I plan to start writing an AU (an AU, what a shock!) where TK is a con-man on the run and Carlos is a bounty hunter chasing after him.

It's primarily just smut and at the moment, there's a little tinge of gun play, because why not?

Well, what if their letters were based off their former names back when they were worker drones? And I’m not talking about the first letter of their names. I’m talking about the name of the letter in each of their names. For example, N’s former name was probably either Kenneth, Bennett, or Leonard, and V’s former name probably either Venus, Vivian, or Genevieve. J’s former name was probably either Jamie or Jane, the latter of which I was initially going for Mary Jane (yes, the same name as the famous supporting character from Spider-Man). I’m unsure about CYN or Cynthia, though, largely because that she probably died long before the events of the series that she wasn’t converted into a disassembly drone. Besides, for all we know, she was going on a crazy, murderous rampage that she had to be put down. And if she was converted into a disassembly drone, her designation might be either C from the first letter of her name or T from a phonetic of her name (Cynthia).

Harmony's breath caught as she spotted the distinctive envelope in her mailbox. She eagerly prized it open with a letter opener and scanned the card she'd received; the number of circled squares was positively enticing. She preferred bagged blood, interesting… Harmony couldn't help but be a little saddened that she was not so strongly committed to her humanity as herself, but that was hardly an issue-- such a commitment was rare after all. All that aside… it was a clear bingo, right through the middle! With a smile touching her lips, she picked up her best pen and began to write a response.

"Dearest Lady Giovanni-Hidalgo, my most heartfelt thanks for your return letter! The scent of roses has never much excited me, but your letters bring a new delight to the sensation. I wondered if I might extend an invitation to visit my city? Philadelphia is not known for its Giovanni population (rather a lack thereof- it's a long story) but I am sure you would find my Garden's hospitality to your liking! It is filled with every flower one can imagine, from my favored chamomile to every color of your beloved roses. Perhaps there, amidst the flowers, you can teach me to dance?

And, as a fellow practitioner of the arcane, I extend a most particular invitation: I have developed a new path of magic, one sure to stir your heart in passion. Should you wish, for one unforgettable night, I can restore the life to your flesh and the rhythm to your heart, and even lift Lamia's vicious curse upon your most beautiful fangs, that you may enjoy the Kiss as I do. Satisfied with her penmanship, she plucked one of her finest envelopes from her desk organizer, refit with her most intricate illumination. She usually reserved these for correspondence with the Camarilla, but here it would certainly do. A wax seal and ribbon later, and it was ready to send!

She sent a quick text to her Nosferatu adherent, asking to borrow his pigeon for a delivery; with luck, the letter would make its way to its recipient quickly.

Harmony took a deep breath of the cold January air nervously as she pulled the envelope from her bag. She'd done her best to dress it up well (rolling an astonishing 8 successes on her craft roll, a critical success!); the fine vellum trifold was illuminated in the bingo board's likeness with her brightest inks and foils, and sealed with a red ribbon and wax seal, emblazoned with her own Tremere crest. She'd fit the fragile work of art into a tooled leather pouch to keep it safe and dry- was that too much? She had no idea. The letter's contents were encouraging! She'd hit bingo no less than 5 times. Surely that would achieve a positive result? Her heart beat out of her chest, and for a moment she cursed her devotion to her humanity: a dead heart would be less bothersome here, but perhaps not so excited.

Steeling herself, she slipped the package into the attractive necromancers mailbox, and headed home to await a response.

Her own stationary was personalized and well-made certainly, but nothing so gorgeously handcrafted. What interesting person dedicated such time to a fun little bingo game? Someone devoting themselves to such a project already was enough to make the Kindred remember how to swoon. Using a letter opener, she carefully opened the envelope and read over its contents. Noa once again was utterly delighted by the results, nearly a perfect score, save for very surface level things. The ability to speak Spanish can certainly be taught - being immortal gave them plenty of time for that - and not being able to play an instrument really wasn't so awful either. Dear Harmony may be a bit overwhelmed however if her possible distaste for roses was genuine, because her and Nythanel's home was filled with them. Alas, if that minor thing could be looked over... this could be very nice.

It was very interesting how she wanted a near-living partner... perhaps if Nythanel had different preferences, she'd offer a copy of the card for him to fill out as well. Maybe he'd enjoy it for fun? She smiled as she enclosed her answer in her own rose-scented stationary, ready to return it to Ms. Harmony.
