Už nějakou dobu přemýšlím jak by vypadala zombie apocalypsa v česku. Změnilo by se něco?

Moss Women
Moss Women are female forest spirits from German legend. They belong to the poor souls.
Moos Women occur in Saxony, Thuringia, on the Saale, in Orlagau, in the Harz mountain, in the Vogtland, in Upper Palatinate, in the Bavarian Forest, in Franconia and Upper Franconia, in the Bohemian Forest, around Warnsdorf in the northern Czech Republic, in the Giant Mountains and in Westphalia.
Depending on the region, Moss Women have a different appearance. Most often, they are as short as a three to five year old child. They have an ugly appearance, often entirely covered in moss, and are hunchbacked. They appear to be very old with grey, wrinkled faces abd blackened, blind eyes. They have long black or white unkempt hair. Their voices are high-pitched and squeaky. They are always barefoot. They often carry brushwood in a pannier on their back or in their apron. They use a walking stick to support their unsteady gait.
Moss Women are living in the forest, where they are dwelling in underground caves or hollow trees. They are sleeping in beds from moss. They are living in large families and can have children from Wood Kobolds or humans. They like to bake delicious cake, and when they do, mist is coming out of the forest. When politely asked for, they serve the cake also to humans.
Moss women know herbs and are skilled at both sending and healing illnesses. If people mock them, they send them ailments. This can happen in a variety of ways. They can squeeze people so hard that they become sick and miserable, and they can sit on them so that they become lame. They can also breathe on them, which causes people to get bumps or ulcers on their faces. Moss women also have knowledge of the future.
Moss women reward people by giving them wood shavings or leaves that turn into gold. They also give balls of yarn that never end unless you deliberately look for their end, or webs and knitted items that bring luck and blessings into the house. The moss women also show their gratitude with well-intentioned advice and warnings. They also look after children in the forest, lead people out of the forest at night without getting lost, or help them find deer and roe deer antlers.
On the other hand, moss women steal bread and dumplings. They cannot tolerate caraway bread, however, which is why they cry out: caraway bread, our death. The same goes for "piped" bread, i.e. bread into which the tip of your finger has been pressed. They cannot touch counted baked goods either. On the other hand, the moss women rightfully own some of the hay cuttings and the water that drops on the rim of the vessel when scooped out, as well as some of the linseed, flax stalks, ears of grain and tree fruit, as well as the flour that sticks to the frame of the bucket and any leftover bread crumbs. Moss women allow people to gather wood in the forest if they first receive a piece of bread or a dumpling as a gift
Sometimes moss women help people with deeds and advice. They visit people's houses and do various jobs, for example they spin flax and wool at night, they scrub, feed, milk, mow, help with haymaking and harvesting. If moss women receive food from shepherds, they bless their cows, which then produce more milk. For craftsmen, they protect their tools from thieves. As household spirits, moss women bring luck and blessings, but also require to receive food offerings in return. They detest people's cursing and vices. They love silence, hate quarrels and curses, and are driven away by them, just as they disappear never to be seen again if they are given new clothes. Whenever bast is peeled from a tree, a Moosweiblein must die.
On the river Saale, the Buschgroßmutter (bush grandmother) is known as the queen of the moss women. Strictly speaking, the bush grandmother is the mother of the moss women (here: moss girls), with whom she travels around the country, usually in a small cart. She has messy hair and a fixed gaze. The bush grandmother is also a bogeyman. The bush grandmother also appears in Silesia, where she is called Pusch-Grohla.

The Dogs in Bloodborne!
So @bobbyzombiegg you wanted some headcanons on the dogs right? Following this post. Alright I will, but first i’m gonna recap all the dogs we can see in Bloodborne!
No I'm not talking about the weird beasts. Even the ones we're not sure if they have animal or human origins, I will stay focused on dogs only.
Rabid dog (Yharnam and found in most of the locations of the game)
They seems to be cream coloured but I saw people said it could be brown. It's the dog ennemies we encounter the most often. The chimera in the Nightmare of Mensis are made with them too.
Grey Rabid dog (grey/silver version found in Yaha'rgul & chalice dungeons)
Same breed as the light coloured ones but they have darker fur (grey/silver)
Some might already know but for the ones who don't know this dog highly ressemble the Irish Wolfhound Breed
It's one of the biggest dog in the world. Typically used to hunt wolves (that's how all the wolf in Ireland disappear), deers and big animals.
The breed almost disappear in the 19th century but it was restored into the one we know today with mixing the last ones with the Great Dane, Scottish deerhound, borzoi and even Tibetan dog.
It also highly ressemble the Scottish deerhound, the too breed being very similar and link.
I personally call the ones in Bloodborne just wolfhound because there's no guarantee it's a real breed and again Bloodborne, like dark souls is not our world so I don't think Irish and England exist XD there's equivalent maybe. (And Yharnam would be closer to this universe version or Poland or Czech).
If you are attentive they aren't presented in the hunter's nightmare (see below the old hunter's hound) With the scourge of the beasts becoming worst and huge beasts appearing more frequently the hunters and citizens turn themself to bigger dogs to hunt bigger prey.
Hunting dog (Hemwick Charnel lane & chalice dungeons)
Don't ask me what breed it is I have 0 idea. Greyhound? A mixt breed? Idk. They are principally found in Hemwick too. They have been equip of weapons to hurt beast better I supposed. A hardcore version of the collar of some shepherd dog 😅 The ones left almost in completely autonomy with a herd and half collars with spike to not get hurt by wolves.
Keeper's hunting dogs
Found in the chalice dungeons and are weird mutated fire dogs. They follow their master, the keepers. I suppose they were normal dogs before.
Watchdog of the Old Lords
Idk if that was a dog before. Could be a keeper who transformed or something for all we know. But well it's literally called a "watchdog" so-
The corpses of dead dogs in the chalice dungeons
(I know it looks great but please imagined it's a dog 💀 it's the only screenshot I found)
Sometimes you can see corpses in the chalice dungeons and sometimes there's dogs ones as well. They seem rather "normal". And not really the breeds we already see.
Old hunter hound /rabid dog (Hunter's Nightmare-Yharnam/ The Old Hunters dlc)
So those are probably Dobermann. Used as guard dogs and for protections. During old hunter's era, most beasts were beast patients / human size not huge scourge beasts. So this type of dogs was ideal. With the beast growing bigger having more scourge beasts around the poor dogs become too insufficient. And that's why Yharnam adopt bigger bred like the wolfhounds.
Dobermanns are born with long falling ears and a tail. The tails was cut so they don't got hurt into fight or hunting and the ears because they often got affections. Many countries have forbidden it because with modern standard of life it donees't have any real use now. Contrary to what people think "attack dogs" are not born agressive. It's just that if they aren't trained well and develop comportement issues and agression it's going to be a bit more of a problem than a chihuahua who would have the same issues.
Fish dogs (Hunter's nightmare-Fishing hamlet/ The Old hunters dlc)
Don't ask me please. there's no idea of knowing what they were before. But their fish's head apparently ressemble a viperfish's head, also called a chauliodus, deep sea fish from the Stomiidae family. Not putting pictures here for people who are sensible, I put a link above. Their body as slimed and long (30cm), they lived between 200 and 4000m of depth (3300-13000ft). Those types of fishes (their genus) were discovered in the very early XIX/19th century.
Now my headcanons on why most of wolfhounds in Yharnam have light fur and why the one in Yahar’gul have dark colored ones.
Objectively the most possible answer is simply that the dog’s population of this two area weren’t mixted together. When you have a small portions of individual who don’t mixt with more exterior individuals they tend to end up with similar traits because of dominant & rececive genes (and if it last a LONG time, that’s how new species appears. But it take thousands if not millions of years and generations).
Well my headcanons is much simpler than that and basically for fic purposes. I just thought it would make sense that Yahar’gul hunters kept the darker ones because they need to stay discreet (they themselves have black clothes) etc. And the other would have kept the lighter ones because they are easier to see and recognize at night.
At the beginning of the introduction of the wolfhound races in Yharnam it was probably mixed individuals of different fur coats. With a bit with time, selection and breeding they would end up with most of the dogs being light light colored for the hunters/citizens and church. And Yahar’gul doing the same would ended up with the darker ones.
And bonus headcanons:
I imagined a younger Paarl possibly taking care of the first generation of wolfhound in Yharnam (they were introduced to replace the dobermanns because beasts grew bigger). And i like imagining Gehrman to had help with training and had one of his own :3 a white one (yes I draw it I should do that again) (because you see, to have survived that long and have will to live after Maria passed away and the old hunters dying one by one i imagined it would have been nice for him to have a companion for a time).

a couple days ago, a stream featuring andrzej sapkowski came out, supposedly announcing a new book in the witcher series (see link below).
i've watched it, and personally, considering the context, i would reign in my enthusiasm until some kind of official announcement.
youtube
i'm including the notes of what he speaks about, for anyone interested.
the first short story started with the title: a male form of the polish word wiedźma (witch) doesn't exist, so sapkowski came up with one. the idea for the story came afterwards.
the first short story was supposed to be a one-time thing. he never expected to write a continuation.
he didn't do any research for the witcher books beforehand because 1/ it's a fantasy book, so he's allowed some leeway & 2/ he already accumulated a lot of knowledge throughout his life by the time he started writing. some research on things was needed during the process, but not a lot of it.
he did do beforehand research for a different, more historical series he wrote afterwards (trylogia husycka).
he once again stresses that the book series is not based specifically on slavic mythology - that was something made up by journalists. he took inspiration from various mythologies indiscriminately, and the plot was more important to him than using any specific sources.
he doesn't remember how many short stories he wrote for the witcher.
back when he started, there was no point in sending manuscripts to publishing houses, because the publishers were not interested in polish fantasy books, preferring the foreign ones. instead, an aspiring writer's best bet would be to send a short story to fantastyka (means fantasy, but only as a literary genre), a magazine that published fantasy & sci fi short stories. at some point he got tired of publishing short stories though, and he sent his manuscript in (he says he doesn't remember what book that was). it was successful, and it encouraged more authors to do the same.
he regrets writing under his real name and not under a literary pseudonym.
nilfgaard's similarities to ancient rome are accidental, and nilfgaard should not be interpreted as based on it. sapko came up with it as an aggressive fantasy nation that wants to take over the world, with no deeper meaning behind it.
first map created for the witcher was the work of the czech translator, and most subsequent maps were based on it (or, as sapko puts it, stolen.) "why i never created a map? pettiness." all fantasy books of the time had a map, so he decided his wouldn't have. and so it doesn't.
the witcher comics were parowski's idea (a witcher fan & comic book author). sapkowski didn't participate in its creation. he tried to give his input about the drawings at first, but the artist basically told him to go fuck himself.
he has a cat
he used to be a senior sales representative, and it gave him some knowledge about sales, banking, currencies and economy which he was able to work into the plot of his stories
he reads at least 50 books per year. of recent works, he recommends madeline miller's circe, steven king's two new books, v.e. schwab's the invisible life of addie larue, peng shepherd's the cartographers, herve le telier's the anomaly, r.f. kuang's babel, holly black's book of night. he considers the above the literary events and fantasy milestones of the past few years.
his commentary on people who study and analyze the witcher and its themes: "they come up with things i never could have come up with." he claims he never assigned any specific philosophy or meaning to his works, but he's happy to read the works of people who do.
he says he didn't base any of his characters on himself in any way. at the same time, his opinion is that it's difficult to write a character that doesn't retain some of the author's qualities. however, the characters are in their own setting and their own story. in his words, "you don't write books about yourself. you write books about characters that you come up with, and you give them their own qualities. […] who cares who i am? the reader is interested in who the witcher is, or who the other characters are."
when asked why geralt is different than the other witchers (more sensitive, kinder), he responds that it's because he's a made up character that's supposed to be interesting for the reader, so he needs to be distinguishable from others. a book is supposed to be interesting, and creating an interesting character is one of the ways to achieve it.
when asked why the smell of yennefer's perfume is so specific, he just says that he made it up and perfume like that doesn't exist.
witchers, although they use magic, are a completely separate group from the sorcerers in the book. there are no common points between them. witchers are also not a reference to any specific mythological archetypes or characters.
he doesn't like announcing what he's doing, because he changes his mind a lot, and doesn't always finish what he starts.
he does say that he is working on a new witcher book and that it should come out within the next year or a couple. considering the context of his words, however, i would consider it as more of a 'maybe' than an actual announcement.

white americans will look at a photo on google of a minced meat dish and say "well I can't see any seasoning"
white americans will be like oh british food is so unseasoned and underspiced and then talk as if taco bell is extremely flavourful. this is true I've seen it happen multiple times.
#red said#'oh british food is flavourless and unseasoned' shows picture of black pudding and sausage#have you eaten those things???? have they ever been unseasoned?????? there's seasoning cooked into them!#that last poll. 'shepherds pie (unseasoned)'? yeah man that would be gross. luckily you're meant to PUT SEASONING IN MEAT.#looks at a picture of a hamburger. gross look at all that Unseasoned Meat. bet that would be really bland if you didn't put flavours in it.#it's not relevant. because like. you do.#sure n the case of most of these foods the seasoning is salt pepper and onion. but that's not 'no seasoning'#also worcestershire sauce which truly does make a huge difference to meat#like idk it is just a bit baffling#you have already decided this food is bland before you eat it even though 90% of what i encountered in America#was also. uh. red meat seasoned primarily with salt and pepper.#and sometimes chilli cumin coriander and or mace. all of which are popular seasonings here also.#like they're the same white ppl foods man idk what to tell you. lightly seasoned meat. potatoes.#now if you want to talk food crimes let's talk veggies bc the traditional Brit approach of boiling every vegetable until it's soft? obscene#treat your veggies with respect. fry or roast them. curry them. wilt greens in butter. boil or steam them al dente.#why are we not roasting British cooking for vegetable maltreatment? why's it always about the meat???#do you know how many miserable bleached carrots i have endured? i love a carrot! why are people so cruel to carrots? give that bitch bite!#you know why shepherd's pie is good? because it forces even bad cooks to keep some of the flavour from veggies INSIDE THE FOOD#people will straight up boil a vegetable for hours then pour away every scrap of flavour or vitamins in the water#don't attack brits for not seasoning MEAT attack people for not seasoning VEGGIES. or cooking them with any care for flavour.#mind you maybe that's an us problem bc my czech partner laughs at me for wanting more vegetable than 'lemon wedge' with meat and chips

I fear I may absolutely need your Texas hcs
*not forcing ^_^*
EEEEEE YAY I GET TO RAMBLE ABOUT THE SILLY COWBOY :D
Appearance:
Height: 6'5
Build: Lanky w/ soft and strong edge
Eyes: reddish brown
Hair: curly (2b) dark brown hair, shoulder length
Skin tone: almond skin
Natural markings: freckles (they're all star shaped too :3)
Other markings: many scars from both burns, whips, guns, and blades.
Other physical traits: a couple of his fingers are crooked, he's double jointed, and his wrist and spine are both slightly crooked due to shit breaking and not healing right. He also has sharp fangs cuz yes :3
Normal hc's:
-he has five dogs (two German shepherds named Rosco and Daisy, one Aussie shepherd named Bailey, one Texas heeler named Blue, and a Chihuahua named Maria. Tho. If you ask the other states, Maria is the wicked witch of Vernon /JOKE. She's only sweet to Texas. And Loui. But everyone loves Loui.)
-is somehow both a big brother and a mother figure to Loui
-he age regresses as a coping mechanism
-^usually to around ages 5-12
-really enjoys reading and drawing
-he also really loves flowers, tho he'd rather die than admit it cuz he thinks it's "too feminine"
-he lets Loui braid flowers and other accessories into his hair
-^anyone that teases him about it gets punched in the face <3
-speaks Spanish (obviously), French, German, Vietnamese, Chinese, Latin (tho he doesn't use it), ASL, Arabic, and surprisingly (at least to the other states), Hindi, Tagalog, Korean, Russian, Czech, Polish, and Urdu.
-^He has almost no problem switching between these too
-AuDHD, Depression, Anxiety, BPD, DID, PTSD, and mild psychosis
-he does trick riding!
-bro is severely dehydrated
-he hates balloons for some reason
-sometimes when he's speaking, he'll either slip into Spanish or he'll slip into at least a Spanish accent
-i don't see him as someone that cusses a lot, only a moderate amount. Like- he'll just say something like "FUCK! Oh- uh- sorry 😔"
-^so when he cusses and doesn't apologize immediately after, it means that he's either info dumping (too focused to apologize), or hes extremely pissed off.
-He can play the guitar (any type, tho he prefers acoustic), piano, and strangely kalimba and the Irish flute cuz he likes how they sound.
-His human name is Terrence cuz it feels like a very Texan name to me
Angst hc's under the cut!! (tw for sa, sh, child abuse, drinking, and hallucinations/delusions)
-he has a really bad drinking and smoking problem
-Due to some trauma related to SA, he has parts of his body that are "trigger spots", as in, he panics if they're touched (mainly without permission)
-he panics if any of his limbs are pinned, in any circumstance (sparring, tickling, play fighting, other more scandalous activities, he HATES not having control of his limbs)
-very insecure about his soft spots :(
-blind in one eye (thanks Mexico :/)
-Texas does alot of things that he doesn't know is SH
-VERY jumpy, especially with the sound of breaking glass, shouting, or anything that sounds anything like a gunshot
-the more Spanish, the more panicked he is
-he often has alot of hallucinations of people that hurt him in the past
-^and they've felt so real that he could practically feel the pain again.
