Profiles in Villainy

Cyril Sneer

A pink aardvark with a very long nose, and an even longer history of scheming his way through the business industry, Cyril Sneer is a lumber baron and unscrupulous business magnate who has stopped at nothing to get his way and turn a profit.  On many an occasion, Sneer’s diabolical business schemes have been thwarted by the goodnatured Raccoon Family.

Megalomaniacal and more than a touch narcissistic, Cyril does hold a soft-spot for his young son, Cedric, whom he hopes will take over his business in the future.  Concerned over the wellbeing of his son and gradually impressed by the nobel antics of The Raccoons, Cyril’s attitudes mellowed and he became a more honest businessman as well as an ally to the Raccoons.

The late great Michael Magee provided the voice for Cyril Sneer, with he character first appearing in the animated television special, The Christmas Raccoons, airing on December 17th, 1980.

I had the feeling the others had more subtle character growth than Cyril but now I've got my finger on concrete proof.

What do you think each of your characters' favorite vine reference is?

I'm not too sure what their favorites would be, but I do know what ones remind me of them

Rich Little's older brother was a terrible stand-up comedian in Ottawa, Ontario in the 1970s and 1980s.

His only claim to fame was his work as the voice of Cyril Sneer on the animated series The Raccoons.

So I was looking for pics of Cyril Sneer for a post asking if he would be considered a Tumblr sexy man had Tumblr existed during the 80’s.

Turns out that didn’t need to happen. Seems he’s one of those characters who got the sexy man attention through people outside the fandom.

Thank god, at least I know my browsing for Raccoons content on this site wasn’t truly fruitless. I just got a bunch of links to DeviantART stuff and small blog posts from nostalgia blogs. Nothing that showed there were fans still feral over this show.

So yeah this really gave me hope.

Go watch The Raccoons if you haven’t already. It’s got a banger soundtrack, his guy getting the best development a villain from an 80’s cartoon received, such cozy vibes in the setting and slice of life stories, it’s just all around charming.
