Family Stone's Cynthia Robinson Dead at 69

Cynthia Robinson, Sly and the Family Stone co-founder, trumpeter and exuberant background vocalist, has died at 69.

Robinson died Nov. 23 of cancer.

“Our condolences go out to the Robinson Family and her bandmates and all family & friends!” says a post on Sly and the Family Stone’s Facebook page. “You are in our thoughts and prayers and we are here for you.”

Robinson was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the rest of the Family Stone in 1993 and also worked with Graham Central Station, George Clinton and Prince.
