Hellooo! Hope ur doing well :) I wanted to ask some recommendations on how I shld build my cyno as I recently got him.. 😵‍💫

hi anon! im so happy that you asked me hehe 💕💕 i have a whole guide for you! (more under the cut!)

so starting off with 5* weapons, i really recommend his bis/sotss (staff of the scarlet sands)! the 2nd stat for it’s crit rate and cyno gains 52% of his em as a bonus atk. i personally love this weapon and i recently got it for him :D it’s really good for him <3 

next, i heard that staff of homa is also good on him! it gives crit dmg and this weapon provides an atk bonus based on 0.8% of his max hp! 

but i personally like primordial jade winged-spear because i like my crit rate! for this weapon, every time cyno hits an opponent, his atk increases by 3.2% for 6 seconds. (this stacks 7 times i think) and if he gets the max stacks, his dmg will increase by 12%. 

(those are the best 5* weapons on him but if you have any other ones, feel free to spoil him with them!) 

now, for the others/f2p/4*! i won’t go in-depth because i don’t know much about them! 

deathmatch (bp/paid) - 2nd stat : crit rate. i bought this just for cyno when i got him last year (polearms and polearm users hate me so i didn’t have a good polearm) and it’s really good! the only downside is that it’s locked behind money and the base atk is rather low :( 

white tassel (chests) - 2nd stat : crit rate. a good choice, 48% dmg boost makes a large difference, especially if players are playing cyno in an aggravate team comp.

blackcliff pole (shop/paimon’s bargains) - 2nd stat : crit dmg. a fully refined blackcliff pole with a full-stack can perform as well as an r1 primordial jade winged-spear! good for cyno, but again, i really like my crit rate. (deathmatch >>> blackcliff pole imo) 

missive windspear (event) - 2nd stat : atk. within 10s after an elemental reaction is triggered, atk is increased by 24% and em is increased by 96 at r5! the em increase is really good too!

kitain cross spear (forgeable) -  2nd stat : em. this weapon will increase his elemental skill damage by 6%. it has an em sub-stat, which is really good if you’re using cyno in an elemental reaction team.

prototype starglitter (forgeable) -  2nd stat : er. it has an er sub-stat, which is great at helping cyno recover his elemental burst energy.

moving onto artifacts!

i’m currently running a 4p thundering fury set on my cyno! it’s said to be the best set for him, it “increases dmg caused by overloaded, electro-charged, superconduct, and hyperbloom by 40%, and the dmg bonus conferred by aggravate is increased by 20%. when quicken or the aforementioned elemental reactions are triggered, elemental skill cd is decreased by 1s. can only occur once every 0.8s.” tl;dr:  the dmg increase via electro reactions really helps and the elemental skill cd makes his skill more spam-able during his ult!

i’m currently farming gilded dreams because i got told tat his bis/sotss is better with the set (i still use thundering fury tho!) i can’t explain gilded dreams to you because i don’t use it but it definitely has something to do with em! 4p is best when running hyperblume or aggravate!! 

4p gladiator’s finale is something i’ve seen many many people use! i’ve never tried it (maybe this is a sign i should?) but it does seem really strong!  “if the wielder of this artifact set uses a sword, claymore or polearm, increases their normal attack dmg by 35%.” to sum it up, 4p gladiator’s finale increases cyno’s normal attack dmg by 35%, even in his ult/burst!

some other things i’ve seen are 2p gilded dreams + 2p thundering fury, 2p gladiator finale + 2p shimenawa reminiscence, 2p thundering fury + 2p shimenawa reminiscence/gladiator’s finale, etc! feel free to mix and match them <3

lastly, artifact stats! 

main stats - for the sands, i suggest atk or em! (it usually depends on the set. i use an em sands because i use thundering fury and not gilded dreams!) for goblet,it would be suggested to use an electro dmg bonus goblet, and circlet a crit rate/dmg recommended. (circlet also depends on the weapon. eg, crit rate weapon usually would be paired with a crit dmg circlet, and so on.) 

sub stats - crit rate/dmg, elemental mastery, atk% i say cyno’s ideal em range would be 200 - 400! (i have around 300 right now!)

(to sum the artifacts up, it all depends on what comp you want to use him in/how you want to use him! i personally think thundering fury is more viable due to the strong box. i farm gilded dreams, then take all the bad ones to thundering fury’s strong box.)

here’s my cyno incase you want a reference (it’s really not the best &lt;/3)

tl;dr - staff of the scarlet sands, primordial jade winged-spear, and staff of homa are all really good on him! if you don’t have any 5 stars, white tassel, missive windspear, deathmatch and blackcliff pole are good replacements. his artifact sets are thundering fury or gilded dreams and em is a really good stat!

been a million years since i posted but genshin tumblr i need help again

ive read all of sethos' kit like, four times, but i *still* dont get it. i get the EM stuff and that it's important, but specifically what in the world is up with his arrows? why does it sometimes take forever to charge, and other times, its instantly charged? and why sometimes he hits high numbers, and other times he doesn't???? is there some secret em bonus he gets sometimes that im missing??? can somebody dumb this down for me please </3

Ahh, I saw your reply to cyno's sq2 and if I may add to it!! I think Cyno isn't someone who is usually extremely emotional when it comes to himself, but he shows way more of it when it's affecting people he cares about (Cyrus, Nari, Collei etc). He probably also grew up with the knowledge that he's an "orphan" either way (after being taken to Sumeru by Cyrus), and has no recollection of his parents either, so I think that also made him go "shrugs", because I think it'd be worse if he had had a lovely and loving childhood and then suddenly got sold off... if that makes sense. (We don't know how his parents treated him before that, but he forgot it either way/was too young to truly remember his parents probably).

Overall though I also think it's what you all wrote in the comments: he's also the type to think about these things later on. In that situation itself, he had to make sure that Cyrus would be unharmed, and wasn't sure what to expect and how things would go, and that job at hand was more important than the newfound knowledge that his parents sold him off to be experimented on.

It's also part of his personality I think... which is like "the past can't be changed, the future can't be foretold" so he focuses on the present instead. I think that partially also adds to the entire "Cyno had no reaction"! At least I think, living with this mindset for over a decade, this'll likely have influenced his reaction!

So sorry for the big comment... but I was thinking about him and also trying to explain his behaviour and thought maybe it was OK to share my thoughts/insights!

Yea no I understand i agree with a lot of it! The no emotional reaction part is just funny to think about. What I would have loved is that if the sq was more critical (or showed what cyno thought) of Cyrus because he was involved in the experiment AND buying of cyno from his parents. Even though he changed his mind and even after taking a kid away from his homeland to the rainforest, which cyno struggled a lot in adapting to, it wasn't discussed further. He also kept his involvement and experiment a secret from Cyno the entire time. Cyno reminds me a lot of kids who grew up away from their native culture and had to assimilate to the new one.

He may have wanted to protect Cyno because he also did when the akedemiya sages wanted to experiment on cyno (windblume limited event) but keeping such an important memory and the very reason why cyno was taken away from his home is not the right decision in my opinion. Which could have been a source of conflict between them. And I wanted cyno's reaction to that!! Or traveler for that matter!! or someone to bring it up!! tighnari??

So yea! I would have loved more of a reaction from Cyno in that sense. If anything it felt more of a Sethos' sq because Sethos was the one who went through any change at all lol. Cyno was the same from start to finish and didn't have to battle with any emotional conflict.

Cyno from past quest was very pragmatic about his feelings. The way he mentioned how he had to keep quiet or be as truthful as possible so the people in the rainforest could trust him. Also how he struggled in the akedemiya before meeting his friends. It's just that in this one the same reaction or introspection wasn't there.

I was guaranteed but had to go to high pity on character banner and only got two Yao Yaos and on the weapon banner I needed to pull three times and got no low pity at all (got PJWS, WGS and then his signature...).

Got everything now. Al Haitham you're one stubborn bastard... (/aff). But I dragged you home kicking and screaming, I don't care if you wanted to or not.

Anyway, I'm broke on crystals and primos now. So I'll be back to saving for the next couple of months 😂

Hello, person who likes Cyno! I'm really sorry for randomly barging into your inbox like this, and you don't have to answer this if you'd rather not, but I'd like to ask for advice on Cyno's team!

I saw you mention that Cyno's best team is quickbloom, and I'm deciding between that or just regularly quicken/aggravate. I have Nahida who I'm definitely gonna use, but if I'm going quickbloom, the only hydros I have are Xingqiu and Barbara. There's also the matter of the flex slot. I was considering running Shinobu, because will Cyno be able to battery himself? I have Zhongli too, and Raiden and Yae and Fischl. Though I'd rather have some survivability. I'm gonna put PJWS on Cyno if that matters

Hi! I don't mind at all; I love talking about this! I didn't proofread, though, so rip any typos.

Everything I say here can be found on the KeqingMains Cyno Quick Guide and from Zy0x's Cyno videos (+ his second video), so you can reference those as well.

*One thing to note is that in my experience, KeqingMains calculated Cyno's ER requirements as too high. I'll get into that lower down.

This got way longer than I anticipated, so, short answer, TLDR: Cyno, Nahida, Xingqiu/Barbara, Zhongli.

The weapon is easy, so I'll mention that first. I have Cyno on PJWS as well; the only thing I'd say is that you may need an EM circlet over a crit since PJWS doesn't have the passive like Staff of Scarlet Sands does to give extra EM. That said, I'm not positive about it.

Cyno does a lot more damage with quickbloom, but it really comes down to a matter of personal preference in play style. I found him underwhelming in aggravate since my Alhaitham spread comp out damaged him in every circumstance, but I rebuilt him for quickbloom, and it's been great. He's been so much fun to play. Either way, make sure you have at least one dendro on your team holding 4pc Deepwood Memories.

Barbara and Xingqiu both work. Barbara is better for traditional quickbloom, while Xingqiu is closer to the hyperbloom end of the spectrum. Either would work fine. I use Xingqiu personally and picked artifacts with an hp% sub stat to give me some healing just in case I take a couple of hits. If you use Xingqiu and PJSW, then I absolutely recommend an EM circlet over a crit one. Hyperbloom scales entirely off level and EM, so you want to make sure you have EM sands and circlet, and an electro damage goblet, with crit rate sub stats and ER on your artifacts.

Flex Slot

Shinobu is a common pick for Cyno's flex because she heals and helps battery (whether you need the battery is up for debate). In aggravate, I'd 100% suggest running her alongside a different flex (run her with iron sting, EM sands, Dendro dmg gob, crit rate circlet. Any of those can be replaced with hp% for extra healing if needed. I run her on my Alhaitham spread team with an hp% circlet).

For quick/hyperbloom, it's deciding if the healing is necessary. Shinobu will steal some bloom cores, so I don't suggest running her in traditional quickbloom comps, but if you're using Barbara, you won't need the healing anyway. For closer to the hyperbloom end with Xingqiu, make sure you build her with EM/EM/EM artifacts so that it isn't a big deal if she steals some cores.

Don't run Raiden. She doesn't do much for Cyno, and honestly, she excels far better in other team comps. This is the KeqingMain's guide for Raiden if you want to build her for other teams, but she's wasted on Cyno.

You could run Yae with Cyno. People do it, but honestly, I wouldn't. Put her on a Raiden team, and they'll both excel better there.

Fischl is Cyno's best battery. She creates an insane amount of particles and is unlikely to steal bloom cores. The question is whether you really need that. Some people do! I run my Cyno as solo electro with 150ish ER on 4pc Thundering Fury and have zero problems generating enough particles to fuel his burst, so Fischl's usefulness entirely depends on if you find yourself needing a battery.

Zhongli, oh Zhongli. Zhongli is the best shielder in the game. You literally cannot go wrong with Zhongli on any team His shield also gives dmg shred, which everybody benefits from.

What I'm saying is that if you can use Zhongli, do so. Fav lance (try to get r5), 4pc Tenacity set, HP sand and HP gob with crit rate sub stats. Either HP circlet with CR sub stats or CR circlet with HP substats. The CR matters to proc the fav particles, which if you can funnel into Cyno can help fuel his burst in a pinch. If you don't have access to a fav lance, the 3* weapon Black Tassel is also solid because of the hp% sub stat (HP/HP/HP artifacts).

I could write a whole post about theory-crafting Baizhu for Cyno's flex (r5 prototype amber, 4pc Tenacity stacked HP + ER), but honestly, I'd just wait until he comes out and see what people better at math than me say about his optimal build and whether he's worth pulling for Cyno. (I am very, very bad at math).

4pc Thundering Fury or 4pc Gilded Dreams?

Okay, I know you didn't ask, but this is important to mention. To start, let's talk energy.

This was made by the CynoMains discord, and by personal experience, I can say that it's way more accurate than KQM's.

As you can see, TF dramatically lowers Cyno's ER requirements. This is because the 4pc passive means that whenever an elemental reaction is triggered, Cyno's E skill is cooldown is reduced by 1s (can only occur every 0.8s). More E skills during his burst = more damage and more energy. With 4pc TF you can comfortably run Cyno as solo electro with no fav users. 144% ER is stupidly easy to get.

Gilded Dreams means you need higher ER sub stats, which means you're losing out on potential atk%, crit value, and EM sub stats that will boost your damage. If you're running hyperbloom with Xingqiu or Yelan, that might be worth it since hyperbloom scales entirely off level and EM. If you're running quickbloom or aggravate, it isn't, since quicken is scaled off all those sub stats, not just EM.

Now lets talk teqctions themselves.

4pc TF lets you smash your E skill and try to time for when the eye is on the screen. That takes some practice, but you'll get there. In my experience, you can hit twice as many E skills. This means even if you run Xingqiu, the fastest hydro app in the game, you still won't run full hyperbloom on Cyno with 4pc TF. You'll still proc aggravate quite often. 4pc TF also gives you an additional benefit on the 4pc passive. Along with reducing E skill cooldown, hyperbloom dmg is increased by 40%, while aggravate is increased by 20%.

In my opinion, that's enough to sell me on 4pc TF, but you can also strongbox it to help farm it.

I'm sure there's several more valid reasons for Gilded Dreams, but tbh, I've been happy enough with Thundering Fury that I don't know them, so if you care, it might be worth looking into more on your own.

My build & rotation

Cyno: c0, lvl90, r1 PJWS. 4pc Thundering Fury, 155% ER

Nahida: c0, lvl90, r2 Sacrifical Fragments, 4pc Deepwood Memories, 144% ER

Xingqiu: c3, lvl30, r5 Sacrifical Sword, 4pc Emblem, 231% ER

Zhongli: c0, lvl90, r4 Favonius Lance, 4pc Tenacity, idk ER off the top if my head but I rarely use his burst anyway.

For rotation, Zhongli E -> Nahida E + Q -> Xingqiu Q + E (often E x2 for Sac proc) -> Cyno E + Q + E + E + E, etc.

Once Cyno's burst is filled, or if his shield drops, I swap out and start again.

I've easily taken this team to floor 12 in the Abyss, even when my other teams struggle to keep up. (Fuck you triple Kenki, my Cyno kicks your ass).

At the end of the day, Genshin is a game, and it's supposed to be fun. I like talking about builds because, to me, it's fun. I know several people who shrug, say fuck the meta and throw four selfish dps characters on the same team.

Build Cyno however you'll have the most fun with him. If that's meta, cool! If it's not, then that's cool too. Don't let anybody tell you that you're doing it wrong.

how did my neuvillette pulls go this week:

(written by a person with an insanely bad luck in genshin gacha, who finally gets a glimmer of hope after 2.5 years of playing)

got him guaranteed on thursday, close to soft pity

kinda wanted to get his weapon bc i was close to pity on the weapon banner too (and also bc i didn't have anything good for him) but i got homa instead, a day later

on sunday, did a random single pull and got homa again (on pity 6)

less than a minute later i do another single pull and i (finally) get his weapon (thanks fate points for the guarantee)

and after that i pressed the wrong button on my gaming pad when i was on neuvillette's banner and got his c1 (also one wish later)
