His digits moved smoothly across the keyboard. It was that split klik when he looked up, it all went downhill.

Usually, Soundwave worked alone, focusing on his ideas. Either in silence or accompanied by the music he loved so much. But just that solar-cycle, Rodimus asked to join him. So he agreed. Obviously.

Yet, there was something peculiar about this, right at the back of his processors. Rodimus was quiet. Barely any move, barely a peep. Someone usually so full of life, then still, reading through a new speech he had given him before. Soundwave had never seen him that thoughtful and… Strangely, there was beauty within it.

Though, it must’ve been enough of a puzzlement for Rodimus too, as he looked up. When their optics met, Soundwave decided to cave in, “Is something wrong?”

“Haha, nothing’s wrong by your side!” Startled, Rodimus answered. “Just… Just wanted to focus on work for once. Like you always do.”

Soundwave hummed underneath his vocoder, “Thank you. But I do feel rather strange with you not talking.”

“You want me to talk? Cause oh man, be careful what you wish for, just ask Cyclonus, she… She can word things pretty bluntly,” he joked around. Obviously no matter what, she still cared for Rodimus.

“I don’t mind it. I like your voice,” he reassured him, voice steady as it could ever be.

To which Rodimus smiled. As a gentle rock ballad played from Soundwave’s speakers, he could hear the lyrics being repeated by Rodimus. That was when his confession from before finally came together.

Was Rodimus trying to impress him? Soundwave wasn’t sure. Simply, he scooted closer, their shoulders brushing against each other.

If it was the truth, though… Then it wouldn’t be a surprise why suddenly warmth spread all across from Soundwave’s spark.

Sims AU: New Iacon, Historical District, The Brownstone, Unit 1| Tailgate/Cyclonus &Wing

Hello and welcome to our first tour here in New Iacon's beautiful Historical District! This Brownstone building is home to plenty of quirky individuals no more so than the three we're visiting today in Unit 1. Tailgate, Cyclonus, and their roommate Wing. We start off our tour in the entryway/living room with a bright, soft palette that reflects Tailgate and Cyclonus' colors with a beautiful contemporary eclectic style. Just beyond the cozy living room space we can see the kitchen and breakfast bar area.

The breakfast bar and dining area feature plenty of soft tones and funky style choices as well as tasteful additions that hint at the blend between Tailgate's more fun-loving style and Cyclonus' more reserved one. With functionality as well as style given equal consideration

The kitchen itself (with Cyclonus himself prominently featured beyond) shows a sense of forward thinking and plenty of counter space and storage to ensure that Tailgate can easily prep for their Tailgate Parties™️without sacrificing the style of the apartment itself.

There's plenty of storage space available in the apartment's modern pantry and with cabinets lining the walls there's a sense that anything you might need is there, just in reach. The updated windows allow for a wonderful view without sacrificing much-needed counter space and let in plenty of natural light.

Gaining one last look at the kitchen we can see how the practical, open-shelving melds well with the sleek, modern cabinets and allows for practical use as well as forward-thinking style that is as timeless as it is useful.

Taking another look into the living room space we can get a better look at the entryway and fun inclusions that make the space both welcoming, charming, and cheerful with it's soft and light color palette and funky furniture choices.

Moving into the master bedroom we run directly into one of our hosts, Tailgate, leaving her workspace carefully tucked away next to the couple's full walk-in closet. With their various workspace's removed from their sleeping area the couple can ensure their work doesn't impede on any quality time spent together or any time spent relaxing after a long day.

Cyclonus' chosen palette may be darker and his tastes more refined than Tailgate's but that doesn't mean that the couple's design choices clash with each other. If anything they're a welcome compliment that makes the space feel cohesive, fun, and stylish all in one.

Tailgate and Cyclonus' sleeping space features more of that mix of refined and fun with bright carpet, art-deco revival furniture, and modern touches that give the space and sleek and finished look.

There's a true sense that the two have influenced each other. With Purple sneaking it's way into Tailgate's sense of fun and eccentric interests which hint at a love for style derived from pinterest boards.

Cyclonus's space is little better with hints of blue and even a calendar to mark events sneaking it's way into Cyclonus's side of the room to show just how close the couple has become over the years.

The master bath space features a large and luxurious shower space and a lovely bath area with matching spaces for his and their robes.

More stylish storage ensures that there's no fighting for counter space in this bathroom, despite their separate wants and needs when it comes to personal care.

The water closet features a sleek, modern look with plenty of whimiscal charm and an illuminated mirror. There's additional storage space in the medicine cabinet and plenty of room to move.

The toilet is of japanese design with plenty of features including heated toilet seat and a bidet, though I get the feeling it was largely chosen in order to match the aesthetics of the space rather than for its various features.

Moving across the apartment we head into the laundry space and secondary bathroom which is mainly used by Wing. The space features up to date appliances and plenty of storage done up in a clean and pristine environment.

With plenty of space for everyone to do their own laundry the apartment feels down right luxurious even packed full with three individuals.

With a distinct lean into modern Japanese interior design trends the secondary bathroom still manages to maintain a western need for storage and function over minimalist style.

The shower and bath feature more japanese design as well as view out onto the Historical quarter below while still offering plenty of privacy via tasteful drapes and curtains.

The luxurious jet-tub has it's own peaceful nook with a clear view out onto the city so that one can enjoy the view while still relaxing after a hard day.

Moving to a more traditional Japanese style, Wing's room features tatami flooring as well as a futon bed. Regardless, Wing's more modern sensibilities and tastes can be seen in his tasteful work station and personal decor.

While there is no closet in the secondary bedroom there is still plenty of storage space as well as space to entertain, relax and enjoy your own bit of privacy with charming results.

The split-level room offers a bit of traditional Japanese style while still giving space for more whimsical and western tastes to creep in through the influence of the apartment's other inhabitants.

I know it's a product of 1980s japan but like, if the grown men/male mecha are unable to do a job, it's frustrating to watch Carly send Daniel or Arcee send Wheelie to do it, because those are children and Arcee and Carly are not.

As a non-Chromedome-liker, I am also amused at how dumb he is in this show.

My brother has developed a new and annoying way of asking for money that I've already told him I don't have. He calls my mom and tells her that I won't help him, so then I have to tell her, too, that yes I just got paid, but they raised the price for the medicine I need to brain from $5 to $40 because they don't like the dosage my doctor prescribes, and the landlord has my rent cheque in hand and is presumably going to cash it, and I also need to eat.

She understands this, at least. I just feel bad for her.

if this is in reference to the opinions thing then. yes. i like the guy! his writing and dynamic with cyclonus is soooo good, i hate hate HATE !!! his fanon softboy misinterpretation. honestly canonically he is also just a little uhhhhhhh how u say irritating but that is his RIGHT. that said i would not want to hang out with him. also his uh holomatter avatar thing was a little stupid like whatever i get the gag but also it unleashed the WEIRDEST freak behavior wrt tailgate

i dont have a lot of opinions on tailgate himself though i think i peaked with that post thats like tailgate is not the soft one tailgate is ready to kill at a moments notice. tailgate shouldnt be the one holding cyclonus back statistically its more likely that cyclonus would be the one going "maybe murder is not the answer here". honest opinions about minimus and megatron relationship: do you think minimus was kinda out of character to be so attached to megatron or its something u see it fits on his character? And do you think its was just a friendship or they had something more but in the end that wouldn't work?

To be really blunt, I do not like the way the Megatron-Minimus dynamic plays out in the comic. It rings false to me personally. I don't talk about pairings I dislike as a matter of course because that's no fun for either me or anyone I know who ships it, but there's a reason it never shows up on this blog, haha.

I'll put this under a cut so people don't have to see me rag on it. Politely! I'm polite! I promise! We do not mindlessly bash in this house, that's simply no fun for anyone. And really, I want to be clear, my personal tastes are very specific and often run very differently to many folks in this fandom, and that's a-OK with me! The thing is, conceptually I like it? But the way it winds up being written out it feels like there's a huge chunk missing. There's the earlier stuff which suggests they've been clashing as set up, and then we jump right to the stuff where they're Vibing TM, very chill, etc. Which first of all doesn't fit with Mags' character at all, because we've *seen* how much of a struggle it is for him to get past the past deeds of others when deciding to give them a second chance; he has a whole mini-arc with Cyclonus about it, and it's a big thing with Drift. Hell, you even have the early hint with him seeing Megatron on the armour's heads up display showing that whenever Mags is around him, he's basically got 'this dude is The Worst' in the corner of his eye all the time, reminding him what Megatron has done. And then... there's just a point where all that goes away, and it's very jarring, and tbh, feels deeply unearned and uninteresting to me at best.

But it also... feels like it doesn't work in Megatron's favour at all? The Megatron arc, when it works best, functions because Megatron comes up against strong opposition. When I like it, I think there's a reason it tends to be when Megatron and Rodimus are going up against each other. Someone getting up in his face and really challenging his perspective and making him work for every inch pushes that arc forward. Magnus *could* be an ideal candidate for that, in that he is aggressively dedicated to both being scrupulously fair and also to his very specific and black-and-white concept of justice. I can see the potential for a strong foil there. I just don't think it ever actually... happens.

One of my least favourite moments in the comic is the scene after Megatron has been left in the functionist universe and Roberts basically uses Magnus as a mouthpiece to rag on people who Didn't Like MTMTE Megatron. First, regardless of your own personal opinion on the matter, it feels cheap and takes me out of the story immediately; you know, when I like a character, that doesn't necessarily mean I want a page long discussion telling me I'm right and all the people who don't like them are being reactionary, I don't need that. Second, because it contains the single most egregiously terrible depiction of OCD in the entire comic to the point it's genuinely upsetting to me in a way a lot of the latent ableism in MTMTE/LL isn't. And third, because it feels like it glosses over the chance to have an actually interesting conversation amongst the characters about what they feel about the situation which might be harder for the audience to sit with but ultimately do more to sell the actual complexities of the relationship. And that's a good summary of how I feel about the relationship in the comic as a whole. The ideas are there, but the execution is so thoroughly something my sensibilities bounce off.

(The OCD thing, I am not so forgiving of when it comes to matters of personal taste, admittedly. That shit was not fucking cute.)

The interesting thing for me is... I also have a lot of complaints about how lots of the Megatron-Rodimus interactions in canon play out at various points, for example. But anyone who reads my fic etc knows that doesn't stop me very much enjoying trying to wrestle it into a shape I find fun and interesting. On the contrary, I usually really LIKE taking stuff I don't like in canon and playing with it in a fandom space to see what I can do with it.

And the reason I don't do this with Megatron/Minimus is pretty simple: it's canon. Oh, I mean, they don't enter a relationship. But for everything I've said above, it 100% reads as A Thing in canon for me, no doubt about it. It's the kind of subtext where it's like, this is never explicitly stated, but it's the most reasonable interpretation, so it's still there.

Which means I feel a lot more constrained because changing things around too much to try and push it into a shape I like more feels... like making them out of character. Even when I feel like the comic also took liberties within its own canon with characterization. And of course, the fanwork is being made by people who like the canon, so I'm not gonna enjoy 99% of it, because if canon gives you a clear template for the ship you like, why would you deviate from it?

So I sit on the sidelines and politely cheer all my friends who ship it on and am mildly sad that my tastes aren't different so I can enjoy like, half the fanwork that is made for my favourite character, haha. It's all good.

He wants your validation and stores it in him like a goblin defending gold. Your quick wit makes it easy to clap back at his insults, and you've gotten so good at it by now that it could go on for an hour. " Squishy " " Cyclops," " Are you comparing me to Cyclonus? " " Of course not! Cyclonus is much cooler than you! " Cue the apologizing and his fake crying- If you think about it, he is kind of the 'ugly' animal of the group, which also means he does not judge whatever animals you like. Oh, you want -insert horrifying species here- as a pet? He doesn't give a shit, sure! He already has all those Scraplings anyways... You are very opposites attract when it comes to fighting style because he goes (literally) all guns blazing while you talk your way out of every complicit. If there are any arguments between you both, the actual issue is overshadowed by a discussion on how to resolve it. But he loves his little meat bag, and you love your weird cyclops-looking mecha.

oh my god this is the issue with the many many two-page spreads...the first time I read this issue I didn't realize that was a thing and GOD I was SO fucking confused. there's already a lot going on in this issue/arc but this made things so much worse hvbhjkdfbsk. I powered thru and still managed to understand most of the arc despite reading half this issue out of order (essentially) bc the website I read it on split the pages up and I couldn't tell they were supposed to be doubled (and also I'm dumb so I didn't figure it out)

anyways, the actual issue...windcharger is out here using his powers to rip a dudes arms clean off. wow!

I love the dichotomy of this emotional reaction that comes only partially from empathy/emotion, but also comes from a kinda self-centered need for success as measured by people under your command staying alive. and taking into account rodimus’s life it totally makes sense that he’d act like that...GAH I love it. the complexity of it all!

oh man that last panel of trailbreaker holding up roller’s juice box...iirc the first time I read this I thought that was roller (cause of the juice box I guess? idk I'm an idiot) so I was like oh ok he must've come back or something. very much related but I didn't really think about tarn being a particular pre-established character and totally didn't read the whole ‘roller is tarn’ thing that was going on 

which in my defense ruth also didn't pick up on any of that while reading this and eventually like 2 issues before the reveal I had to prompt her like ‘you should maybe be wondering WHO tarn is’ vhbahjksdfbaksjdf

so! issue 37! this issue is a solid favorite of mine, id say definitely top 5 or even 3. I'm super biased bc I fucking LOVE time travel, it’s seriously one of my favorite tropes ever, and this issue hits all the time travel beats I love. characters traveling to the past and interacting with people they know! conversations that have multiple meanings bc of TIME TRAVEL! trying to save someone who meets a terrible fate in your future! fun time travel action! the time traveling characters being generally terrible at hiding the fact that they're time travelers! ITS SO GOOD. 

and I love the clever way everything is tied together here - where we get a nice continuation of shadowplay, with this taking place shortly after that with a lot of the same cast, and time travel classics like the good ole ‘if we hadn't travelled back in time and done what we did, the future we came from wouldn't have existed at all,’ in the flavor of ‘rodimus saving his baby self’ and ‘rodimus NOT saving trailbreaker’ and ‘everyone forgot about roller :(’ 

ok but like, did the lost lighters just go ‘oh well, guess rollers gone now.’ like they DID realize that the outlaw crew would have no idea what happened to him if they got their memories erased, right?? did the lost lighters figure that since roller never reappeared after this time period, that was how history was ‘supposed’ to go and they shouldn't mess with it? am I overthinking it? as usual: yes, probably. I love overthinking about comics, in case that wasn't obvious

basically...I love this issue soooo much. so so good and a bunch of fun tropes that I love. I mean the whole arc is like that for me since I love time travel so much. so I cant wait to (re)read more!!
