I'm curious. Was KCD the first AAA game where the player could choose to have a romantic gay relationship with the main male character(who is very important in main story,not some random guy in side quest) when there was no female playable protagonist and only a male protagonist?

Becase this really surprised and impressed me. We all know who the audience is in the gaming industry, especially the expensive AAA games. In general, I know like Dragon age or mass effect,2077 etc.Usually if there is a romantic male character, it is because the game also has female playable protagonist option, the company is trying to make sure that female players play their game. Also If companies want to curry favor with the lgbt community, they usually just throw a bone, like creating a side character who is gay,or use the lowest risk rep---lesbians/bi girls, because straight guys don't mind two girls kissing on their computer screens.

And yeah,You only have the default male protagonist, and here is a very important male character who could be your romance options.

I guarantee that more than 90% of KCD's fanbase is straight male(at least before kcd2)But WarHorse didn't choose to just create a random male npc as a one-night stand option. They boldly made Hans,the second protagonist，as a romance option.
