The news didn't say much about what happened to Tsukasa Tenma at first. His fate remained unknown for hours.

Rui was blissfully unaware until he began to hear whisperings of what happened around the city. He had been trying to move on. Per Nene's advice, he strictly avoided watching Tsukasa's idol concerts. He allowed her to keep tabs on Tsukasa's status while he took care of other idols' business. Thus, he didn't find out the news until it was too late.

The news of idol's untimely demise was lit up right in front of him, on the LED screen at the city square.

Rui always considered himself someone difficult to cry. But for some reason, the tears wouldn't halt..

A week had passed since Tsukasa was released from the hospital. The world was none the wiser... very few knew of his status. Right now, all he had was to focus on his recovery. The absence of public appearances, practicing, and performing was starting to eat away at the dead idol...

My Dearest Emu, I would like to apologize. I've been very messed up these past few weeks and I know it was wrong to take it out on you. You've been hurting more than I have and you don't deserve that. I'm sorry. You're a very talented manager and I've done nothing but fail you over and over. I hope you can manage a better idol than me in the future. I'm just so tired of this all. I don't know why I'm like this. I don't know why this is happening. I love performing, I love being on the stage, I love seeing the audience. I don't know where I went wrong, but I know that I did. I love being an idol, but at the same time it makes me feel terrible. I can't be an idol anymore. It's selfish of me, but I also don't want to retire. This is the only way I can think of that'll bring me any peace. I want to go out with a bang. I don't want to be the shitty idol that fell off, I want my name to mean more than that. I know it's risky, but I want to "die" on stage. Would you please help me? I trust you will keep everything out of the media. I want them to think I'm dead. It's what they deserve after all they've put me through. There's a chance that my plan will go south. That'd be unfortunate, I guess, and if that's the case, I owe you another apology. I don't really want to die. I'm putting myself in fate's hands, and I have faith in my rebirth. Even in his own misery, Tsukasa couldn't let his ego go. He failed to notice how his unraveling would affect his closest friend. If only he opened his heart, maybe Emu's kind nature could have guided him to recover both himself and his career.

As an idol, Tsukasa's contract prohibits him from forming a romantic relationship with anyone. A star like him could live perfectly fine on his own, anyway. He was used to holding people at a distance.

Rui was no different. Their relationship wasn't real. It wasn't allowed. Their countless nights spent together visiting expensive shops and watching musical performances were just a bit of fun. Even if love was shared between them, they could never make it official.

As long as Tsukasa aimed for the stardom he so desperately desired.

It seemed that Tsukasa's arrogance would catch up to him. As much as he longed for Rui's embrace, it never dawned on him to reach out to Rui past that. Rui wasn't just some lovesick fanboy. And if Tsukasa were ever able to look past his own narcissism, maybe he would have realized that.

Tsukasa's vanity would be what severed the one true escape he had from his turmoil. Rui really did try his best to show Tsukasa to look past himself, to find enjoyment in life off the stage. He was naiive to think that he could fix Tsukasa, and naiive to fall in love with him.

Tsukasa's words were painful and Rui's patience was running thin. After his final words, Rui left Tsukasa in the street, cutting the string connecting them that he so desperately had tied.

Perhaps Rui would also find fault in his own failure to change Tsukasa with how his story ends.

note: tsukasa and rui's argument is much longer, but more of the same, paraphrased, tsukasa being adamant that his status as a celebrity puts him on a higher level than rui. i just didn't want to draw 20 frames of their faces as they argued.

also, tsukasa is not intending to be fatphobic to rui. his point is that non-idols don't have to worry about what they eat, drink, put on their body, but since he's an idol, he can't just willy-nilly eat whatever. he unfortunately suffers from toxic idol diet culture and is not self-aware of this.

In only a matter of a few weeks, nearly all of Tsukasa's sponsors had cut contact with him. It was becoming difficult for the Otori Corporation to keep funneling their money into him with no payback.

The hack on the ratings may have been the start, but that isn't entirely to blame. It's become obvious that Tsukasa had begun to fall apart. He grew more irrational in media appearances, anxious on the stage, and isolated from other idols (not that they would want to have anything to do with a failing career, anyway). This downfall was sure to happen anyway, regardless of outside meddling. Tsukasakun wasn't as strong as he put on.

He felt his career creeping to an end.

No, he wouldn't let it end like this.

Against all odds, the idol wouldn't give up so easily. His life was falling apart at the seams. A broken relationship, a drop in popularity, a loss of sponserships; every merciless hit on his inflated ego left him sobbing on the cold tile. His frustration, fear, and humiliation couldn't remain hidden for much longer, as desperately as he tried to hide it.

Inside, Tsukasa had already snapped. It was only a matter of time for his torment to slip past his facade.

Despite his typically carefree exterior, Rui was unable to subdue the complex emotions bubbling within him after his final argument with Tsukasa. His whirlwind romance was over; his anger turned into sadness, sadness back into anger.

The impulsive plan to sway Tsukasa away from being an idol through careful appeal to his feelings did not work. The initial plan, the one Nene had set up from the start, needed to fall into place.

If Rui was unable to push Tsukasa from the spotlight, Nene would do it.

And overnight, Tsukasakun's ratings plummeted.

Omg okay i have a question regarding the toxic space cat Tsukasa au (im calling it that for now lmao) but like what would the endgame be like?? Yk what i mean?? Like if there was some sort of an ending would it be a good or a bad ending and what would it be like?? Same question about the white day au like do ruikasa figure their shit out and their relationship graduall becomes healthy or does one of them fucking die like IM INTERESTED

That is IF any of these aus have any ending at all because idk if you have a legit storyline or are these more for shits and giggles

most of my AUs are moreso just concepts for me to play around with, but some do have storylines! though.. tactiqilin is the ONLY one i have a beginning, middle, and end for. i really need to think more about the others...

supercyber, white day, monster detective, and cyberidol all have a story Set Up, but i have no idea where it's going.

i should.. probably think about that ....

toxic blue cat bad ending would either end in rui dying or going to jail. a good ending.. hmm.. i don't quite know.

as for white day.. they have a much more likely chance to have a good endgame. i can see them becoming Actual lovers rather than whatever weird bullshit they have going on currently. i don't have the heart to kill any of them in this AU, but i would love to put one of them near death. maybe rui almost kills tsukasa and it gets him to change his mindset....

for not a devil.. i still need to figure out Most things about that AU. i'm contemplating making them the demon/angel on nene's shoulder or something like that, supplementing a human emunene plotline OR just throwing them into a demon/angel school.
