So "Shane Dawson" recommended content is weird fetish compilations, satanists, and creeps in Hollywood. Damn, youtube.

It wasn't until at least the 10th recommended video that one of Ryland's vlogs showed up. All of the videos that actually featured him were (1) of Ryland's vlogs, and the rest were Drew Monson's old videos with Shane and the one titled "why I'm not friends with Shane anymore". But the old Drew and Shane videos didn't even come up until #30. I don't know how the algorithm works but I know it knows what its doing.

I don’t know where I stand on Shane Dawson at this point.

I just watched his video, though, and there’s one thing he said that comforted me a lot. He finally addressed the fact that most of the people watching the offensive shit he used to do we’re kids. He apologized to us for making us think what he was doing was okay.

I didn’t even realize that the reason I’ve felt the need to defend him every time is because by admitting he was wrong, I was also admitting that I was wrong. But he’s right about this. I was 13, and he was in his 20s. He’s the one who should have known better (not that I shouldn’t have known better too, but I really was a kid at that point). And that’s really shitty that he reinforced the kind of jokes I heard at school and made me think they were normal.

After hearing him talk about that, I feel like I can finally let go and evaluate the situation for what it is instead of immediately going on the defensive.

Heads up this post is about the final part of the secret world of Jeffree Star from Shane Dawson's channel

The last part of this series was really hard for me to watch because of the self harm stuff that ended up coming up and just how much I got it. Personally, I have had a very bad habit of such behaviors in the past and instead of letting the scars be, I tried to add more so that it was harder to tell they exist (dumb idea I know). Summer is a time of year that I am the most self conscious as my scars show the worst and so I decided that I'm going to cover up my scars with tattoos. I was inspired to do so by a British YouTuber who talked about self harm recovery who ended up getting beautiful pieces over her scars.

Hearing and seeing that Jeffree had done something similar was quite hard to watch just because I know how that is and I'm currently at the beginning stages of tattooing it all up. But it also reminded me that that could be me in the future and that there can be a future day where I don't worry about my old scars.
