This is not a dni. I will not be naming names. But someone in the community has been vague blogging and making me uncomfortable. I had their url entirely blacklisted as I did not want to block them due to fear of how they would react. I learned that they had been getting anon hate via a mutual and learned that they seemed to be implying I was sending it, or at least people I associate with. This person would often post things that seemed to 'cancel' my metas and hc posts. They acted like I was wrong for how I see Nathan and made a post I think was likely going after me for a post I made about how much Nathan meant to me. I dmed them and asked if it was about me and they did not confirm or deny it. From that point on, I had been very uncomfortable on my blog and paranoid due to my own issues. I wasn't sure if it was in my head. It kept happening which is what led me to blacklist their url. I wanted to unblacklist it when i was in a better headspace and could be more rational. Sadly, I suspect that I was indeed correct about the vague blogging due to their suddenly (very lowkey) implying that I had sent them hate.

I can say with my whole chest that I have never sent any anon hate to another person in my 10+ years on this site. I don't play games. All I will say: if you have an issue with me come say it. I am an adult. Or better yet, block me. Don't subtweet everything I post with slight deniability. Don't act like I'm a bad person for seeing this character differently than you do. Don't accuse me of bullshit. I haven't always been perfect, but I have never been a bully and I never will be. He aims for the next one. Vash's back leg has crossed over behind him and he fires another shot as soon as his back foot plants itself on the ground. He is maneuvering away from Knives who is recovering quickly from the previous shot.

Following "he follows it with the confidence and poise of a dancer on stage.": Three close ups on Vash's feet as he moves back from Knives. He's sliding back and away calmly for his next shot.

Following "Vash has impeccable aim yet he deliberately chooses to shoot in areas that could stun or stumble Knives...": 1. Zoom in of Knives getting shot in the right shoulder first. It gets deflected by his knives but the force was enough to push him back a little. 2. Zoom in on Knives getting shot in his left ankle second. He might not get injured by bullets the same way as humans do since his knives hasn't reached his ankle in time to block the shot yet he is still intact. He does, however, stagger a bit.

Following "Here he’s firing straight forward using the corner as his shield...": Vash shooting behind the wall around the corner. There's a base of the wall that's jutting out which would be perfect to perch his hands on if his other hand wasn't occupied holding a glowing cube. It does provide great cover, though. Stock image of a man shooting a rifle behind the cover of a cork plank. The rifle's barrel is resting on top of the plank for extra support and stability. If Vash were shooting with both hands, he would either be hovering his pistol's barrel over the plank or he would be pressing his hands against the side of the plank as a brace.

Following "He is practicing proper trigger discipline again!!": Vash crouching down over his gun as he reloads a single bullet. His finger is pointed down on the side of the barrel away from the trigger. Vash has clicked the barrel back in place yet he keeps his finger on the side to prevent himself from misfiring. This is essential practice for shooting.

Following "He can NOT afford to misfire.": Frames 1 through 4 of Vash running away with his finger off the trigger.

Following "Knives would have to bend backwards like he did here to dodge.": Vash surprising Knives with a barrel in the face as Vash attempts to shoot. Vash fires his shot and it is noticeably headed straight for Knives' lower jaw / neck - a hard shot to dodge without having to careen your upper body away from it entirely. Vash also lets the force of the gunfire lift the gun up after the shot was made. Knives does manage to lean himself back and away from the shot but its clear from the looks on both of their faces that each of them is terrified.

Following “Bonus: while we’re here, let’s get into Vash’s stellar reloads starting with this one (my absolute favorite)”: Vash taking his sweet ass time reloading 8 bullets into his gun after throwing Knives away into a wall before proceeding to run away. Takes a good 2 and a half Mississipis to reload vs his usual 1.

Following “The gif below might be faster by half a second but it's still RIDICULOUS compared to the first one:”: Gif of Vash in episode 3 reloading his gun at a ridiculous speed (about 1 Mississippi). The average Joe can reload in maybe 3 seconds assuming they slip the bullets in perfectly on the first try.

Because Studio Orange has been driving me insane with how great Vash is as a gunman not just cinematically but realistically! I am NOT getting over this for a while my friends.

NOW LET'S ROLL!

First off, again, I’m going based on what I remembered from shooting air rifles & other research I’ve gained over the years! Second, I’m not an OG Trigun fan, so do take this thread with a grain of salt!

With that, let’s dive into THEE fight scene:

So right off the bat we’re getting Vash’s “smooth criminal” shot! Notice how he’s lining up his body sideways with his pistol vs forward like in the past. That’s exactly how you’re supposed to shoot one handed: feet shoulder width apart and aligned w/ the gun.

Normally you’d want both feet planted on the ground when firing but since Vash HAS to stay on the move to avoid getting hit AND is being a cocky little shit to his brother, he lets himself lean forward to fire and use that kick back to gently guide him into his next step.

Again, you NEVER fight what’s considered natural movement with a gun! You WILL get hurt! If you want to aim properly you NEED to be relaxed and composed. Vash isn’t fighting against the force of his gun, he follows it with the confidence and poise of a dancer on stage.

And speaking of dancing just look at how Vash makes Knives dance over puddles! Vash has impeccable aim yet he deliberately chooses to shoot in areas that could stun or stumble Knives, knowing he could block the shots, and distract him as he goes behind the corner.

Remember how I said lining up sideways is how you shoot properly? Here he’s firing straight forward using the corner as his shield. Had he not been holding a ticking bomb in his hand he would probably rest the gun on his other hand like he normally does on the rock jutting out.

The second he fired his last shot he dips down to reload and LOOK AT THAT!!

He is practicing proper trigger discipline again!!

You do NOT keep your finger on the trigger when loading in order to prevent misfire. That is BASIC SHOOTING SAFETY!!

And he does this throughout the fight!

When he turns away from Knives to make his way to the corner he lets go of the trigger before he turns back around to fire at him!

He can only hold 8 bullets in that gun and he will make each one count!

He can NOT afford to misfire.

Why??

Because that bullet he loaded was going STRAIGHT FOR KNIVES! Vash is NOT messing around! At this angle it looks like he aimed and could’ve hit Knives' NECK which would be super hard to dodge close range. Knives would have to bend backwards like he did here to dodge.

Shout out to everyone at Orange for the incredible work put into Vash and his shooting! There’s so much care into this show I can’t wait to see more!

Bonus: while we’re here, let’s get into Vash’s stellar reloads starting with this one (my absolute favorite) :

Yeah this is it at it’s peak.

In any case, I can’t recommend this show enough! The amount of work and detail put into not just Vash’s skills as a marksman but the acting and storytelling - everything is superb!! What an amazing experience!
