“Wh-what are you doing-?” Will’s voice echoes through the dark room as he watched Nico packing his bag.

“Well, what does it look like, Will?” Nico replies in a cold tone, without looking up at him.

“Nico, stop, you know I didn’t mean what I said,” Will pleads, rushing forward to stop Nico from what he was doing.

“Oh really, Will? Because it sure as hell sounded like you did.” Nico said, turning to look at his boyfriend.

“I’m sorry, okay?! I did not mean for it come off the way it did. I was just trying to tell you that you should try to open up more if you want me to understand what you’re going through. It’s like walking on eggshells while talking to you these days.” Will said, trying hard to keep his voice from rising.

“I don’t know, maybe I don’t want you to understand?! Have you ever thought about that? Maybe I just want to be left alone for once! Without you being behind my back like I’m a naive, small child that can’t do anything without help!” Nico snapped, frustration lacing his voice.

“Nico, I- “

“I really don’t want to talk to you right now, get out of my room.”

Will nods, his head hanging low, and walks out, not wanting to start another argument.

These past few days have been like this. The exams are coming up and both of them have been stressed about it. They return to their shared dorm, tired and exhausted from the days’ lectures, irritancy causing one of them to snap and say things they don’t mean. Though today has been worse as Will was already annoyed at Nico for delaying him, because Nico had forgotten his bag at school and they had to drive back to get it and to top it all off, Nico wasn’t able to focus at all during their study session together, making Will snap.

Returning to the present, Nico sinks down onto his bed, raking a hand through his hair in frustration.

He lays there for a few long minutes to cool off, before heading to Will’s room, deciding to talk it out.

He knocks gently on the door before pushing it open. “Will?”

He scans the whole room, only to find it empty.

He searches the whole dorm for him, but to no avail. Reaching for his phone, he calls Will’s phone.

‘The person you are trying to reach is currently busy, please try again later….’

Hanging up, he waits a few moments before redialing.

‘This number is switched off….’

“Where the hell is he?” Nico mutters to himself, starting to get worried after trying but failing to reach his phone him even after almost seven tries.

He sinks into the warmth of the fluffy, white couch in the living room, waiting for Will to return, worry coursing through him.

“He’s probably in the library studying and wouldn’t want me to interrupt him….” He thinks to himself, trying to ease his nerves.

1:00 am.

 Nico is passed out on the couch, still waiting on Will to come back home.

He jerks awake as he hears the front door shut gently, and footsteps approaching towards the living room.

“Nico? Why are you still awake?” Will’s soft voice asks, his eyes studying Nico.

“Where the hell were you, Will? You’re phone was switched off, you left without even telling me and you come back at 1 in the fucking morning?! Do you know how worried I was?! What were you thinking?!” Nico replies sharply, stepping towards Will with each remark.

“Why do you care anyway? I thought you didn’t want me behind you all the time.” Will retorts back.

“That’s not what I meant, and you know it,” Nico says in a low tone.

Will steps closer, inches away from Nico, “What did you mean then?”

“I told you to stop treating me like a small child,” Nico replies, looking away from Will, unable to maintain eye contact.

Will heaves a sigh, turning Nico’s face with his hand to face his own, “I’m sorry, Nico, I shouldn’t have made you feel like that. I’ve been really stressed lately but that’s no excuse for what I said earlier. I’m sorry.”

Nico breaks eye contact with Will, looking away, “Sorry doesn’t cut it, Solace. I really thought you left….”

“Oh Neeks, I would never.”

“I’m sorry too, I didn’t mean to push you away, I just wanted some space and I-“Nico’s voice cracks, tears filling his hazel eyes.

Will cuts in, his voice soft and gentle, “Hey, hey, it’s alright.” He caresses Nico’s cheek tenderly, wiping away a lone tear that streaked down his face.

Nico sighs, melting into the comforting touch of his boyfriend. He shifts his gaze to Will’s face, taking in his piercing but soft blue eyes, the tendrils of his blond hair, the sharp definition of his jawline.

‘What did I do to deserve him?’

Leaning forward, Will closes the gap between them, pulling Nico into a soft yet desperate kiss. Their lips move in sync, Nico’s hand trailing up Will’s chest and coming to rest at the base of his neck. Will’s finger traces Nico’s jaw, while his other hand is placed on his waist.

They pull away moments later to catch their breath.

“Next time you leave like that, Solace, I swear I’ll-” Nico starts only to be cut off by Will, “I know, love. It won’t happen again.”

Nico’s heart flutters when Will calls him ‘love’, his ears turning red. He buries his head in Will’s chest to hide his flushed face.

Will chuckles softly, “We’ve been together for 7 months now and you still get flustered by this, huh? Cute.”

“Shut up, Will.” Nico mutters, his voice muffled as he’s still hiding his face.
