lita uses the mafia as flavoring for Phayu and Prapai, seemingly with the intent of more sexy, more dangerous, and/or more alluring. which is ridiculous. mafias don't exist in dramas to make the characters sexy. mafias exist in dramas to give pretty boys trauma and make my faves cry.
i think lita writers intended for the semi-legal street racing to be hot, but what i see is Pakin's recruiting grounds. just look at the rules: no violence allowed, bet anything from money to people, don't. tell. anyone.

don't tell anyone -> the most important and most obvious rule. why would Pakin give a shit about anyone knowing? the races are an open secret. he shuts down highways. this rule exists so that he knows who might be capable of keeping his other secrets.
the street races are designed to attract reckless young men who come from families with money, influence, and power. they give Pakin not only a lot of information on who might be useful to him later, but also leverage. any consequences from illegal street racing is unlikely to stick to these boys--which is why they think they're safe. but now Pakin not only knows a lot more dirt on them than they do him, but he's also the person they call when they're in trouble (see Phayu, see Prapai)
and Chai's his right hand man. he's the face of the races.
now, there are a lot of character quirks about Chai that i immensely enjoy. as i said in a previous post, the fact that his wardrobe includes zebra print shirts delights me endlessly. him trying to keep his customer service voice in place when the guy calls him a lackey is hilarious. when Rain ordered the mafia men to wait so that he could get a few kicks in on his kidnapper, my first reaction was to text tortoise "Phayu is Pakin's favorite, but Rain is Chai's." and i do think Chai genuinely likes both of them, and i like the idea of Rain sometimes chilling with Chai during the races.
i just don't think it will be enough.
Pakin got two big fish during lita canon--he sort of already had Phayu, given that Phayu works on his bikes and organizes his races, but now Phayu owes him a favor for his men scaring off Rain's kidnapper. and then there's the even bigger fish Prapai, who's the heir to an international corporation, filthy rich, and has shown discretion, loyalty, and drive as one of the top racers--and now owes Pakin a favor and can be threatened with conspiracy for murder. Pakin doesn't care about these two staying around in his races as much as he cares about the fact that he has a hold over them now. one of the main faces holding that power over them will be Chai, and Chai will always be Pakin's man first, Phayu and Rain's friend second.
these boys need to find a way to get away from the races and all these mafia men stat.

So before Bloomburrow comes out I at least one to get out one MH 3 ask, so could you tell me about your walkers Origin card?
For Halona, I really like the explore sub-theme I gave her when I did the Chandra M19 inspired set since it represented her origin story of sailing and exploring. I think for her creature side, it'd keep track of every land she explores to a max of 3, probably using the noting system like Long List of the Ents. I'm not sure what would trigger the flip, probably when she sees a land on exploring, but after she flips she gains more loyalty for each land she explored and maybe draws for each +1/+1 counter (or tutors for an aura based on the number of counters) she had when she flips.
For Nireta, I made most of one, but I'm not sure I ever posted it. She'd be a 1/2 for UB flier with "Tap: Put a scavenge counter on her and draw a card." and "An opponent could put two counters on her and have a creature they control fight her. Only opponents may activate this ability, and only as a sorcery." If she would die with any scavenge counters on her, she'd flip and come in with that many loyalty. I like how it worked in her plundering and eventual near-death igniting. I didn't have any real notes for her back half though.
I only have the barebones of a Catrina origin card that I started working on once. The only thing I really have is that she'd have been White-Black with a Green tap ability. I think she'd have a fight ability with a noting mechanic to keep track of the highest CMC or Power/Toughness and she'd flip after killing a certain total amount. The planeswalker custom card I printed back in... 2022??? (God why I am so bad at being an artist online?) I was already struggling to come up with a representative version of her back then. She'd still probably have another destroy effect and probably another boardwipe-adjacent ability, but it's hard to come up with something that fits and isn't super broken.

Demon Eyes (littlie rebellion)
This is one of our littlies, caught between programs. I’m gonna annotate it so we can see how many run in the background for every alter.
I’ve never been away from home (only the trained ones call that house their home) like this, living separate from my family (heavy on first person pronouns, separates alters from the system) (meant ‘family’ as a positive). I feel guilty for enjoying it (not allowed to use verbs without the ‘I feel’ , got worse after DBT) (shame flashbacks, humiliation over moral guilt). It’s nothing like what I would do for my space, but it’s somehow still so perfect.
There are stars on the ceiling, glowing and arranged, probably constellations. I used to have this above my bed before we moved (younger than 7 we lived immersed in the group), just scattered on the side of the overhang.
My sheet is gone, replaced with a throw like fur. The top quilt is weighted. The pillow is the same texture as the one Nana (long dead matriarch) had, but it’s green and tube shaped.
There’s so much room. I guess my bedroom had more, but I was only allowed on the bed or in the closet (kept in a locked room with two closets, one for a person, trained not to leave the blanket unless she was being punished). There are chairs and a desk, and nobody yells at me if I pace around (she was told the toys reported on her, but people could probably hear her footsteps from downstairs). The stuffies here don’t tell on me.
I was scared of the glowing eyes (demon eyes, circles of light on the ceiling or pinpricks in dark openings) up in the corner, but it’s a projection from the charger on the desk. I wonder if that’s how they did it at home, too.
I’m not supposed to talk bad (loyalty don’t-tell training) about my parents. They own me, and I owe them (epsilon program, dog type) my life. Talking about them behind their backs is the same as talking bad. I keep checking around to see if the demon boy (her internal reporter, whose eyes she was told made the light) is around to inform them. I’ll be punished for thinking it (the boy might hear her thoughts, but his reporting helped their mind-reader shtick) anyway.
I’m going to do it. I don’t believe the men who say no one will tell. It’s gathering information, so I can investigate them like they’re doing to me. It’s not a lie (she thinks she’ll be interrogated, more when than if with her reporter), and I’m supposed to watch out for suspicious activity (it mimics the airport announcement, so maybe they had her fly to customers). It really is part of my job.
And she’s gone.
I did take out a bit that was too revealing, but it was mostly one big chunk. She won’t be in trouble with her demon, he’s been redirected, and the piece I cut was a good step if not for the internet. It’s a long effort, and it’ll help the other littlies to see the growing crowd of healing kids.
She took that effort herself, used to be a sneaky writer. Her stories were carved into pencils and scrawled in tiny print on sticky notes. Her name is the same as one of her stuffies, so we’ll nudge her to pick a new one. She’s got a gleam to her yet, and small sparks start wildfires.

Welcome to my NISA Nightmare.
This is beyond a bloody joke, now, and I am livid.
For almost six whole weeks now, I have been given the runaround by NIS America Europe's Customer Support, for an issue entirely their fault. And it's not the first time.
I love the games NISA publish. I preorder the vast majority of the Collector's Edition packages they put out, in spite of my precarious financial situation. Because I love these games and I want to have those nice sets to celebrate the art and music and game with a nice, generally sensible set of extra stuff that isn't just cheap tat to fill a box and charge a fortune for.
I have maintained "Diamond Prinny" loyalty status for years, which doesn't really mean much more than "buys their stuff a lot and gets offered small discounts when new ones go up" but you'd think if they recognise a group of their biggest customers, they would at least try to offer solid Customer Support for that group.
Here's the backstory: On September 8 2022, I placed a preorder with NISAE for four Collector's Editions. If you're unfamiliar with preorders, how this is supposed to work is that you pay money now, and they put a copy aside to make sure that you get them when they come out; I try to order as many things as I can at once, because shipping to Australia is expensive, and it helps to spread the load. When placing the order, one of the games I was ordering had an option for an Australian cover sheet - the only difference being the little rating symbol on the cover - so I picked that because... hey, why not?
At some point in production, they changed their mind, and decided they wouldn't bother printing that Australian cover sheet. No big deal, you might assume - just swap it for the UK English cover; no big deal.
Ah, sweet summer child, I see you have never had to deal with NISAE's order system backend.
Any other web store on the internet can make simple changes to an order relatively easily - but NISAE is special. They can't even change a tiny little dropdown menu option for which printed cover sheet should be included with the game.
To make any small change to your order, the entire thing must be cancelled. You must wait for a refund to clear. Then you must place the order again yourself with the changes in place.
Remember that thing about how preorders work? Yeah. It doesn't work if they just cancel your order without warning, and tell you to make the order again when something in your order is now out of stock.
For weeks now, I've been assured that they're securing a copy of the game that was out of stock, because I guess when your order is cancelled, they immediately incinerate the copies that should have been set aside for you.
But they'll have it shortly, so I can make the order then!
I've been dreadfully concerned about the other parts of my order going out of stock while I wait for them to find me a copy of the game I preordered. And naturally... that exact thing happened.
I've been keeping an eye on the stock situation and... now another one is completely sold out.
They haven't even fixed the first screw-up, and now this is added on top. It's cartoonish levels of incompetence. I have a heart condition! I can't deal with this kind of constant stress for weeks and weeks!!
If you know me, you'll know I am a very patient person. But this is really my limit. I'm fed up, and genuinely upset.
This isn't the first time I've had trouble with NISAE before, either.
A while back, I received a copy of a collector's edition set with a soundtrack CD - I love soundtrack CDs and they're a major reason I get these versions! But for some reason, one of the discs was just... missing.
Factory error, I suppose. Not much you can do about that.
So I contacted support, and they promised to just pack a replacement in with the next order that would be shipped out; it wouldn't take long for that, so, sounded to me like a perfectly reasonable solution.
Well, my next order from them came... and the next... and the next... and no CD.
After contacting them again, to see what the deal was... they just decided to send it out by itself, and eat the cost of shipping.
Screwed themselves over in that one, really. I was mildly inconvenienced, but it all worked out without too much hassle.
On another occasion, I had a preorder combined with some older items - the order won't ship until everything is ready to go, but it saves you on shipping, so, hey. That's fine.
Between the time of my order and the time it was ready to ship, they moved to a new warehouse. In the process of doing this... they lost the copy of something I ordered that had been set aside. And they had no more left.
Of course.
There was really nothing that could be done, at that point. "Sorry, we lost the very last copy of the thing you ordered." I was very unhappy about this, but... it was at least understandable. Moving to a new warehouse is a massive undertaking, and losing the last copy of some old stock... well, it sucks, but I get it. Exceptional circumstances; things happen.
So it's with this history of excusing mistakes that I am now faced with the latest one. This time, there is no massive warehouse to move; no unusual situation of sending out a replacement for part of a set that was botched by the factory.
I don't think it's unreasonable to expect better than this.
I don't think it's unreasonable to expect the barest minimum features of an online shop to include "swapping a tiny option in an order" and "actually getting the things you paid a couple hundred pounds to preorder six months ago."
I don't think it's unreasonable to expect better from the official European branch of a very prominent publisher, handling a large number of beloved titles that can't be bought elsewhere.
As it stands, if you have the option to buy NISA games from any retailer other than the NISA Europe Online Store, I advise you to choose that other option. I desperately wish this weren't the case, and would prefer to support the publisher directly... but until they get some web developers to implement a functional backend... I truly recommend choosing literally any other option, if you have it.
Maybe if I'm lucky, people will see this and they'll actually do something.
